KSSC42QTS02 - This product was purchased five years ago. Kitchenaid does not offer replacement parts for the unit. I have to wait 4-6 weeks for Kitchenaid to process a claim and then they will let me know what they are going to do. In the meantime, I have no refrigerator and am now faced with having to go purchase one because I have three small children and cant live out of ice coolers for 2 months.

Purchased full compliment of appliances for new home having equipped former home with KitchenAid. Cant express how disgusted I am with current kitchen. Refrigerator doors are uneven despite repair visit to adjust. Oven fan doesnt turn off. Within first year dishwasher delay start function stopped working. Total junk. Purchased cabriolet laundry appliances (KitchenAid is parent company) and tub of drier cracked and had to replace in 13th month. They let me buy a one year extended warranty for $200+. Whoopee.

I am writing this review to help others avoid getting into the situation I was in with the purchase of the KitchenAid KFGG500ESS gas range. I ignored reviews which warned of the same problems I ended up having so I thought Id confirm that I think there is a problem. Buyer beware! I had to have service out immediately because the oven was not true to temperature even after calibrating it up 30 degrees. I ruined several meals because they just wouldnt cook thoroughly and finally gave up trying. Also, the control panel was extremely difficult to press and hurt my fingers. I ended up using the back of a spoon to press the buttons which seemed like a ridiculous way to have to use a brand new appliance. It took the service company two weeks to order the parts and get the tech to come out - all that time without the use of the brand new oven. The range needed a new control board and temperature sensor which didnt fix the problem to my satisfaction. The oven still baked unevenly and the control panel was still difficult to use.The biggest problem was that the stainless steel panel behind the knobs got extremely hot and when you touched it or brushed by it, you could get burned which is very dangerous especially for small children. I was told by the service tech that KitchenAid told him that is just the way it is and there is no way to fix that issue. He said that KitchenAid tests the products before they are sent out and they are up to standards. I do not want to have a stove in my house that will burn someone if they touch it (along with the other problems with the stove that were not resolved) so the store I purchased it from agreed to exchange it for another range. In the end (2 months after my initial purchase of the KitchenAid) I got a Bosch range installed and it works beautifully and is perfect in every way. Unfortunately, I was told by the assistant manager of the the big box store that the KitchenAid I returned was put back on the floor at a discount to try to sell to someone else! Shame on them!

The over the stove KitchenAid microwave has been in daily use for 6 months. It usually works well, but there are random times when a message code appears rendering the micro unusable. The open/close door message will flash and it doesnt matter how many times you obey the command. The microwave will not allow a time to be entered or heat. After an hour or two the microwave will work just fine... Always after the meal is finished without those baked potatoes you allowed 12 min. cook time for.

I purchased a dishwasher from Lowes in 2015. 1st of all Lowes extended warranty runs consecutively with the manufacturers warranty so you really are getting 1 yr less of a warranty than you pay for. I had a service repair man come out and diagnose the problem and said it was $400.00 to repair. I called KitchenAid and they said it should still be under warranty because I had a 1 yr manufacturer warranty and I paid for a 3 yr extended warranty. WRONG!!! I called Lowes and thats when they said the extended warranty starts from day 1 of purchase, running the same time as the manufacturer. So I called KitchenAid back because the dishwasher does have a 2-5 yr manufacturer limited warranty BUT since I did not use one of their two service companies, both I have never heard of, to look at it, they will not cover the part needed and wont accept the other companys diagnosis because they are not an authorized service company with KitchenAid. The 1st customer service agent I had was very helpful, the 2nd call, the agent was not friendly at all. Said the 1st agent should have been more clear and have a good day. I will never buy another KitchenAid product and I definitely will never purchase another warranty for appliances. They are a waste of money.

Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator to replace my ten year old Kenmore. Model is KRFF300ESS. After a few months...noticed spots of rust on the stainless steel. Called KitchenAid...and they replaced the doors. After ten days of having the new doors installed, I can see rust forming on the steel again! I never even touched them with any sort of cleaner at all! Their customer service experience has been the worst. They keep promising theyll resolve the issue but never follow through. At this point theyre blaming me. Very disappointed in the construction of the product and their customer service. Ive owned multiple competing brands of appliances and other stainless steel products in my kitchen and have never experienced this. I cant in good conscience recommend KitchenAid refrigerators.

I have a 48 built-in side-by-side KitchenAid refrigerator. Manufactured and bought in 2008, so now only six years old. The control board is faulty, and they NO LONGER make the part - for a 6-year-old (expensive) refrigerator! When I called the parts company in CA (which KitchenAid said MIGHT have the part), the person was very helpful and said he moans every time he gets one of these calls. There is no remedy except to remove the part, have it rebuilt in CA for something that MAY work. I will not purchase KitchenAid again.

We bought a new KitchenAid gas range Model in 2014. The model# is KGRS505XSS. Within 1 year, one knob got stuck in off position. We had to pay $150 to service appliance person to get that fixed. Then less 1 year later a different knob has been stuck in off position. This is completely random and happens when were not even operating the knob. An amateur layperson cannot fix it. For the 30 years that we have been owning other gas ranges and operating it in similar home type situations, this has never happened to us. This KitchenAid unit is defective OR this could be a basic design flaw. Beware of this type of problem and do NOT buy KitchenAid for this reason.

I bought a KitchenAid Refrigerator Model KRFC300ESS01 in March, 2017 when I remodeled my kitchen. It is truly the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. It makes loud noises that a refrigerator should not be making. I have had the repairmen out 4 or 5 times because of loud popping and clicking, vibrating noises and because my food is freezing... not just in one area but all over the place... frozen eggs, fruit, etc. They have replaced one part in the back of the fridge twice and it is now broken again! I am going to give the refrigerator away because it is not worth selling and get one that works and does not wake me up at night with loud noises! And I can guarantee it will not be a Whirlpool product!

My stand mixer had a bolt fall out while I was using it. I dont know where it came from, but now the stand wont stay locked down when I use it. I tie it down when I am using it. My fridge is the fancy freezer on the bottom, two-door type. There is a set of plastic drawers in the fridge that cant be used because the plastic frame that they hang on broke! My stove I have is a glass top slide-in convection oven. I have had the cooktop replaced, the front panel has been replaced twice, the meat thermometer sensor has had to be replaced twice and many more repairs. If anything overflows, the circuits blow and nothing on the cook top works for a few days until it is dried out. Last Thanksgiving, I had to cook my turkey on the barbeque and my oven didnt work for 6 weeks! Last night, a screw fell out of the bottom of the door and the inside and outside of the door was coming apart. I could see a screw was loose. I took the door off to fix it and had to take it apart. I decided to clean the glass while I had everything apart (my glass window was filthy because when anything overflows, the liquid goes down the panel and into the door). And when I was putting everything together, I heard a weird noise and the panes of the glass window shattered. These appliances cost me over $5000.00 and I bought them thinking I would never have to replace them. Ive contacted KitchenAid and they have sent people out to fix it. However, that is because Ive paid for an extended warranty. They will not replace the stove because a problem has to re-occur 3 times for it to be replaced. Meanwhile, they have paid $1000s in service repairs and are too obstinate to replace the stove which is obviously a lemon (like all my KitchenAid appliance). I am just sick about all the problems Ive had.

This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes
This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes I can save people from making the bad choice of choosing KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. We have experienced several problems with several of their appliances but by far the worst is with our 42 side by side built in fridge (over $6,000.) Our first unit had so many problems within two years that Whirlpool finally replaced the unit. This was not easy but with good documentation, photos and me just not backing down, they finally did the right thing. We received the new unit on 12/3/08 (so only 4 years ago) and the icemaker which never really worked well is now broken and caused a lot of damage to our kitchen wood floor.Water dripped down through the bottom of the freezer door onto our hardwood floor. Unfortunately, water can do a lot of damage fast. After another frustrating experience with their customer service department, I finally got an appointment with a repair service. I wont even get into the details of that frustrating experience. Well, the ice making unit cannot be replaced because of insulation in the fridge door and we would have to purchase a brand new door. This would cost about $1,400 to replace and take 6 weeks to order the new door. Never mind the expense of replacing the hardwood floors. The Whirlpool Company could not care less. The door is rusted at the bottom, so this went on for a while but we did not notice it until it got really bad and the water started puddling in front of the fridge. Also just two weeks ago, we had work done on our 4 year old Whirlpool washing machine ($350 repair cost) and now it is starting to act up again. I assume that I will have to replace it soon since I am not willing to put any more money into it. These appliances are poorly built and dont represent the quality product they once were. I hope I was able to save someone out there from making the mistake of investing in any Whirlpool (or any of the other lines built by them) large appliance.

We purchased two kitchenful of appliances, one was the Pro Series. Within a few months, the enamel on the KEBS208SSS top oven began to pit and chip away. KitchenAid sent out a new oven. We were happy. We should have known that this could potentially happen again. Meanwhile, the microwave computer board went out after the warranty date and it would have cost nearly as much as a new one to fix. The hood over the range has had issues with needing replacement bulbs, only to find out that this time the fuse connector was burnt. Too bad the warranty period is over and good luck, said the KA agent.Last week, I noticed that my replacement oven was showing pitting and wearing away of enamel once again (blue enamel). The KA agent was kind enough to tell me I was probably using it wrong and that I was supposed to clean up the large spills before running the cleaning cycle. I might add that a piece of the foil I used to line the rack for the large spills fell to the bottom of the oven and is now permanently attached to the enamel. I have not used the cleaning cycle in fear it will cause more damage. Again, the agent told us theres nothing KA can do and maybe search for an enamel repair kit and good luck with getting it resolved. I am shocked by KAs attitude and lack of support.

My husband and I bought all new kitchen appliances about an year and a half ago. We bought all KitchenAid: microwave, range, dishwasher and fridge. I always thought KitchenAid was a good company with good products... I was wrong. Within a matter of months, the range wouldnt work property. It couldnt be fixed so it was replaced. The replacement didnt work also and needed to be replaced! Five weeks later, we finally got a replacement range that worked. Now the fridge isnt working right. We have a French door with the freezer on the bottom and ice/water in the fridge door. It has been making loud noises and the freezer is not keeping items as cold as they should be and the ice maker stopped working. The warranty is only for a year so now after spending over $5,000 less than two years ago, we have to pay to get it fixed. We are stuck with the appliances for a while... they arent even paid off yet. I used to love KitchenAid but I will not buy one more thing made by them or recommend them. Beyond frustrated!!!

Webster’s Dictionary defines “Self-Cleaning” as capable of cleaning i
Webster’s Dictionary defines “Self-Cleaning” as capable of cleaning itself”. In 1963, GE developed the first “Self-Cleaning” oven. After 63 years, Kitchenaid and their AquaLift Technology has turned back time by redefining “self cleaning” to mean: “If you want your oven clean, you’ll have to do it your-“self with a scrubby pad and manual dexterity”. Plain and simple, AquaLift does not clean your oven and does nothing other than soaking the bottom tray for 40 minutes in warm, filtered water. It produces no steam to speak of, which is the principal behind its cleaning method. After 40 minutes of steaming, the water in the bottom tray is lukewarm to the touch and any grease or oven grime in the oven is unaffected. We called KitchenAid about this on 11.29.2019. When you call and ask about their knowledge of this issue, they tell you they have never heard of this problem before, yet after a quick web-search, you’ll find numerous Class Action Lawsuits filed and customer reviews regarding the false claims AquaLift makes. When the sales people at the Big Box store where we purchased the oven were asked how the self-cleaning worked, they only provided positive support for KitchenAids superior technology.During our call to KitchenAid, they suggest to run the Aqualift process multiple times and then scrub the oven with a scrubbing pad between cycles. Kitchenaid even offers to send you a sample of cleaning power named “Affresh”? Why would a “Self-Cleaning” oven need to be run multiple times; need a scrubby pad; and a scrubbing agent if the self-cleaning worked? The best part of “self”-cleaning the oven yourself: To get to the back part of the oven’s walls and back panel, you will have to remove the oven door, unless you can suspend yourself in thin air to avoid laying on the open door to reach these areas. So, when Kitcheaid saying their oven is self-cleaning, it really means clean it your-“self”.

Ive had a KitchenAid model KSC24C8WH refrigerator for over a year now. Technically, it works as it cools food as intended. However, the unit makes a loud grinding noise periodically that sounds like a chainsaw gradually cutting through a metal pipe at different speeds. As you might imagine, its very irritating. I highly recommend trying a different brand. Hearing this noise drives me nuts and I cant wait to replace the unit which will happen much sooner than it would have with a refrigerator that works the way a normal refrigerator works.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator 2 years ago. The quality is amazingly poor. The flange on both crisper drawers broke during the first year. KitchenAid was kind enough to send replacements. Unfortunately they are the same design/same materials. Next the housing that covers the water filter broke off during the first filter change. Now, at two years, we have the plugged defroster drain that seems ubiquitous with these refrigerators. We shut the refrigerator off for a day with a small space heater directed at the drain in an attempt to thaw the thing out. No luck. Water still leaks down into the bottom of the freezer and eventually drains onto the floor. Weve had more problems with this unit than with every other refrigerator weve owned over the past 40 years - combined. Such a disappointment. KitchenAid use to make a quality product. Now their Kitchen products need constant Aid.

Salesman at my local appliance store said KitchenAid refrigerators are among the best. Great, paid $4000.00 for a model KRFF507ESS01. Beautiful fridge but, in just over a month it got really warm and we lost most of the food. Their warranty does not cover food spoilage. Service man comes, its the motherboard, of course. Its faulty and they know it. Not too impressed, you would think that in 2016 they could build a fridge that works.Updated om 10/14/2016: Fridge was good for the next two months and it died again. Another service call and the repair man said they do not have a fix at the moment. After a big fight the appliance store gave me another fridge. We purchased this dishwasher (KUDE70FXPA3) and had it installed 6 months later when our kitchen renovation was finished. After one use, the door latch froze and it would not shut. A week later, the repairman came and reset the lock. When we tried to use it again a few days later (not used in the interim), the latch was frozen again. Out came the repairman with a new latch. All seemed well until the unit started to leak from the lower right side. The repairman cant explain it but is ordering a new seal. KitchenAid did extend the warranty for another year for free as we have only used the machine for six months and have been helpful, but I think it is a poor design. It is also supposed to be able to support a wood cabinet face. The springs are so weak that it barely holds it up. The repairman says it is the same with all of them. We bought this unit, our third KitchenAid dishwasher, because we loved the first two. Suddenly, there is a real quality problem and I would not be likely to buy another KitchenAid unit in the future. The customer service has been good but I really have little faith in the product. It seems like KitchenAid is experiencing the General Motors Syndrome. Hopefully, like GM, they recognize the problems and get back to building quality products. I still love our KitchenAid stand mixer.

I installed a new Kitchen Aid stove in May, 2010. The ovens preheat and self-cleaning features have not been working correctly since I first used the self-cleaning for the first time. I am 85 years old and gave up a perfectly good older GE stove because I could no longer reach the controls on the rear panel and bought this new Kitchen Aid because it has the controls conveniently on the front panel. It was a very bad decision. This is a very expensive junk. If you are considering buying a Kitchen Aid stove, dont do it. I am very unhappy with mine. I recommend you find a good used American-made made product and have it reconditioned by a qualified appliance repair person. I cannot afford this kind of ** product. Now, I do not have a stove that works and cannot afford to buy a new one. I would be happy to be involved in a law suit against Kitchen Aid.

Temperature will not remain at the recommended setting of 38 degrees (changes automatically to 59 degrees and higher). We have had at least 4 service calls on this refrigerator. I have had this Kitchenaid Electric Double Oven Range 2 & 1/2 years and I have noticed that the top oven floor is cracked and the porcelain has chipped. I noticed this the last time I cleaned the oven and when I was wiping the ash out I saw small pieces of the blue porcelain coming up. I called KitchenAid and was told that this is not covered under warranty. I paid $2000.00 for this oven.

The refrigerator is on the expensive side but has a beautiful style. I also love the two extra drawers for drinks and produce. Ice maker components are metal not plastic like other refrigerators so it is much better for crushing ice and less likely to break. Plus ice maker is on the door so it doesnt take up space on the shelf of refrigerator. However, fingerprints are a problem and theres not enough storage space on the doors.

We did a kitchen remodel less than a year ago with a kitchen refrigerator side by side with ice & water dispenser model KFIS20XVMSII. This refrigerator is a disaster, the temperature for the freezer and refrigerator side has risen to 40 degrees F and 61 degrees F. Pressing the reset button to the suggested temp of 0 degrees and 35 degrees is not working. I came home from work and had to tossed all the food inside into the garbage. I am so disappointed and will be on the phone 1st thing in the morning with KitchenAid. I wished I had read the reviews about this model, it is a common problem. Buyers beware.

We purchased all new appliances for our new house about 2 years ago. After almost a year this refrigerator went downhill fast. Out of nowhere, the ice machine quit working. Then we went to the refrigerator one day and all of our food in the freezer and refrigerator had gone bad because at some point it just quit cooling. We got a KitchenAid service tech out to fix it. Turns out it was some sort of sensor that went out. The ice machine never worked like it originally did. Now, this hunk of junk is acting up again. The water/ice is not working, the control panel is not responding, and the interior lights will not come on. I wish I had gone with a different brand. I hate to replace this refrigerator because it matches all the appliances in our kitchen. This refrigerator was way too expensive to be having this many problems.

The dishwasher cleans the dishes reliably without worry! It was purchased in 1993 and it is still running great! It is a standard size dishwasher with a place separate for utensils. It is the top of the KitchenAid line at that time. It is the standard KitchenAid Superba from 1993. It has a black, shiny front with chrome control buttons. I have owned this dishwasher for a very long time. I have had one service call on it. I hope it lasts forever! The newer units are said to be less reliable and not as good at cleaning. I love this dishwasher. I am very pleased with it!

I made a choice to buy all KitchenAid appliances when I built my home. I have had problems with all of them. Mostly the refrigerator. The first one only lasted 9 years. (From what I read I did good.) They did give me a good discount on a new built in refrigerator (2001). Now this one lost all the refrigerant from a copper line that corroded through. Called to get it repaired and found that no-one is willing to come out to repair it. I did find a place that said $1900.00. Looks like its time to buy a different brand this time!!

In June of 2012 I renoed my kitchen and bought brand new Architect II Series appliances. I thought that KitchenAid, being a good, reputable name, would equate to a quality product. 11 months later my freezer sprung a leak causing the floor of the freezer to be a solid sheet of ice. Ironically, the customer service rep actually admitted to me that that common problem isnt usually seen until the unit is about 13/14 months old, not 11. RED FLAG!!!! Guy came (under warranty), fixed it, poo poo poo, no re-occurrence. HOWEVER, the OTR microwave vent makes a lot of noise but doesnt suck the air well at all. Technician said that although other units have a stinger suction, since it has something he cant fix it.The oven doesnt signal when the desired temperature is reached and that has NOTHING to do with the options. The dishwasher has had a technician out to my home twice. At $85 for 15 minutes how many more times can I afford to call him? First time was that the water apparently wasnt heating up (even though it was steamy) and the second time the panel was just flashing nonstop. No actual problem there! Goodbye ** + tax! Now, the damn thing will not kick into the heat dry cycle. It washes, rinses and drains perfectly but when it is meant to heat dry it just shots off completely. No flashing code, no green clean light. And to top it all off very nicely, all 4 wheels on the sliding upper rack are broken. The teeth that hold them in place have simply broken off. Because of course, thats normal!!!!!! NOT.I am so frustrated with KA. I will never buy anything more expensive than a blender from them again. In my opinion, I should not have had these many issues with appliances 2 years old. My grandmothers Frigidaire avocado green stove and fridge set from 1959 still work perfectly!!!!!!!! If only products made today were made to last. And by last I mean longer than the 12 month factory warranty. :(

I bought a whole suite of KitchenAid products when I moved into my new house. I bought KitchenAid brand because my Mom had only recently (at the time) replaces all her KitchenAid alliances that lasted well over 30 years! I thought mine would be the same but NO, NO, NO! The first repair case to the $1200 dishwasher which I paid extra for because it was SO quiet. It was a total splurge but I deserved it after living with the loudest dishwashers for years. It was a simple fix but now needs the same fix again. This time it’ll be out of warranty. The worst appliance though is the fridge! I hate it! I have never seen a fridge freeze up more than this one. The first time it was repaired the tech said it was a terrible design and that I should expect more fixes, he wasn’t wrong. Apparently, the fridge thermometer regulator, coils, etc are in a terrible spot that allow it to freeze up easily. Once it’s frozen and if you don’t notice (it can happen quickly too) it can destroy the main parts of the fridge that make it work & stay cold! So far there’s been 3 fixes to this system but now I’m done. I will be dumping this fridge, I’ve owned for only 5 years and buying a new one because I’m sick of its issues. I’m sad that KitchenAid now makes such inferior products. The only KitchenAid I’ll keep in my kitchen now will be my stand mixer (knock on wood).

In October, yet again, another new motor needed. It still didnt work, did not even get the dishes wet. The company repairman from Platinum Factory Service came back again, ten days later, and replaced a board and wire assembly. Still didnt work; same problem as the one he came over twice now to fix, and both times left me with a machine that didnt work. Lowes, where I bought it, sent over their own repairman. It needed a new motor! After six weeks with a machine I couldnt use, it was finally fixed. Its been working okay now for almost two months.

The repair man immediately told me this was a problem caused by a faulty drain and KitchenAid was replacing the parts free of charge however they wouldnt cover the service charge. I am sure the part which is just a drain costs almost nothing but I will have to pay a huge service charge. When I spoke to KitchenAid I asked why I wasnt notified that there was a defective part before the warranty ran out so that the service would have been covered. The response was simply, We dont do that. Their faulty manufacturing is costing me a lot of money. This is the last KitchenAid appliance I will buy.

We purchased a KitchenAid gas stove (Model KGRC608LSS0) in 2003. The first year we had Thanksgiving, the oven completely shut off in the middle of cooking a Turkey. The oven would not restart for 2 hours. We called KitchenAid and had a repair come out, the next day, who of course could not find any problems, $150.00 wasted. The next Holiday dinner, the same thing happened, again couldnt find a problem. The next time I had Thanksgiving, I decided to cook the Turkey early so that I could turn the oven off for at least an hour before cooking the rest of the meal, and that worked. This past Thanksgiving, I tried my method again but this time the oven would not go back on for 1.5 hours. I tried heating the rest of the meal using the convection and after 45 minutes it shut off again. 22 people waiting for dinner and cooking side dishes in the microwave, not the way I want to host the Holiday. Perhaps this is one way of getting out of cooking the Holiday dinner. We also had used our self cleaning and it ran for entire day, the control panel didnt blow but this happened before we experienced our problems with the oven shutting off, perhaps connected? All of my major kitchen appliances are KitchenAid. I will not make that mistake again!

It stops working after about 10 min., then you have to push a few buttons and then it works for about 10 more min. until it stops again, and then finally you have to start the whole cycle over and then it will complete. Its like washing dishes twice! It takes about 2-3 hours for a complete cycle. Also there is a smell that is terrible and after trying dishwashing cleaners, it still smells. Finally, every few months Ive had to take the whole thing apart to clean out the filter area to try to rid the smell. Ive never had so much trouble with a dishwasher!!!! We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dishwasher in 2007 when we renovated our kitchen. We have had to replace the control panel twice because when we attempted to self clean, it overheated and locked up. After reading other reviews, I am grateful the glass didnt break as well. The off button for the oven no longer works. Our work around is using the cook duration feature and setting it for 1 minute when we are finished using it. I couldnt tell you the model since everything has melted off the inside of the oven. The top grates broke almost immediately, the knobs are hot and the color has worn off. What I find most upsetting is the over range microwave starts by itself and beeps randomly and then shuts off with an F2 error. We have kept it unplugged when not in use. Out of principle, we have not wanted to replace these as we paid a considerable amount thinking we were buying quality. While apparently the microwave is known to start fires and Kitchenaid never sent us notification. Now our front burner on the stove is having excess gas and conducting mini explosions. We have had to repair the dishwasher multiple times as well. What garbage! I cant believe all of the reviewers who have the same problems and the KitchenAid does nothing to correct the flaws in their appliances. Never, NEVER AGAIN!

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.

We have a 6-year-old Kitchen Aid (subsidiary of Whirlpool) built-in refrigerator. It is now longer able to maintain the appropriate temperatures, and the problem has been diagnosed by the Kitchen Aid authorized repair service as a defective control board. Unfortunately, Kitchen Aid (and Whirlpool) made or obtained these control boards from a factory in Japan that was destroyed by the Tsunami (this was over two years ago). Rather than sourcing this part from somewhere else, Kitchen Aid has decided to tell its customers that they are on their own. The only possibility seems to be to remove the control board and ship it to a company (Core Centric) in Illinois to have it refurbished. If the part gets lost, or damaged, or is unable to be refurbished, you are just out of luck. I assume this is the same situation for other parts in Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool appliances, as I assume the factory in Japan made more than just one part. This is outrageous conduct on the part of Kitchen Aid - I thought there was a Federal requirement that parts be available for items manufactured and sold for at least 7 years. The tsunami was unfortunate, but surely two years is long enough for Kitchen Aid to have found a way to obtain repair parts for its appliances. This sounds like a great opportunity for a class action lawsuit against Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool. There must be lots of customers that have been harmed by their action, or inaction. In our case, we will end up spending hundreds of dollars sending the control board out to be refurbished, and probably going for an extended period without a refrigerator (cant work with no control board). If the control board cant be repaired (for whatever reason), we will have to purchase a replacement built-in refrigerator, and have our kitchen cabinets redone so the new refrigerator will fit - estimated cost of that would be $10,000 or more.

We just renovated our entire home, and I wanted a good, solid, basic dishwasher for the basement kitchen, thinking this a better option for my teens. This is not our main kitchen and it doesnt get the normal amount of use like our main, upstairs kitchen, and I didnt want anything too complicated. The KitchenAid dishwasher was installed and leaked from day two. It leaked out the sides and all over the floor, and ruined the brand new cabinetry that it was installed next to. In the two years that weve had it, it has been serviced 7 times, and tomorrow will be the eighth. It was barely nine months old and a pump had to be replaced.Early on, I begged the KitchenAid company for a new unit. I even offered to spend a little more and get a totally different unit, knowing Id have to have another cabinet panel made to match our cabinets. Anything to get this lemon out of my kitchen! Nothing doing. Im basically stuck with it, and now whenever I call (again) for service, they want to charge me the service call because its out of warranty, even though they have the service history. I ask for a supervisor and they finally agree to foot the service call, but for how much longer, its anyones guess. Thank goodness I chose two Bosch dishwashers for upstairs. They are quiet and work wonderfully, and they get a lot of use!

Our story is similar to everyone else. Our first fridge broke three days after it was installed & had to be replaced. A month ago, something else broke. We finally got parts after three weeks for a broken filter system which caused our fridge to fill the shelves & drawers with water. After two weeks of waiting, the authorized service company flat out lied about not ordering parts after I had contacted corporate to have them expedited. (If you buy the warranty, do not expect any type of respect or sense of urgency. The warranty company does not care & does not hold authorized agents accountable.) Long story short, the fridge was fixed today, but still no icemaker, only water & now the freezer has stopped working & a loud fan noise can be heard through the first floor. Called warranty repair, they said they could come out Nov 27th... Buyer beware. #kitchenaide.

There are many issues with KitchenAid dishwashers manufactures with the past three years and KitchenAid DOES NOT stand behind their products. My mother had the motor leak on hers after three years of light usage. I’ve had to wash dishes by hand due to its inability of dispersing water after 2.5 years of normal use. KitchenAid only offers to replace parts but wants the consumer to pay for labor, as well as house calls to fix a very faulty product. My adjustable top rack also broke at 2 years. This is a shame when people pay close to a grand expecting a quality product that should be reliable for longer than 2-3 years. My 20 year old dishwasher was far more reliable than this overpriced hunk of junk!

Our family has had problems with this microwave since we purchased in 2007. Realizing that recent history has proven manufacturers of some appliances cut overhead by skimping on parts made overseas, I assumed KitchenAid was a safe bet. I could not however have been more mistaken. I am what is considered a journeyman carpenter, mechanic, electrician and DIYer. So I assumed, again, mounting our new microwave should not have been space shuttle science. I was shocked and surprised to see how fragile the front intake grill design really was especially coming from a reputable company such as KitchenAid. If youre not extremely careful just mounting the intake grill where its supposed to attach could result in undue stress to the plastic tabs and cause them to break. The operative word being plastic unfortunately, not the real metal it is made to look or function as. Why were these at least not reinforced? About eight months later the main control board started giving us grief. Sometimes it would lock up or beep for no reason and other times would work fine. We lived with that for some time until the handle broke after a year and a half of normal use. By the looks of it, it seems the proximity of the heat from items being cooked caused it to crack mostly near the top where the handle is mounted, again causing stress fractures and ultimately causing the failure. I have been the sole provider for my family so money was something we cant be frivolous with. Weve ended up having to unplug the unit due to issues with the main control board. I am now in the market for another microwave and I will not buy another KitchenAid product. Unfortunately for my wife who has to match styles (since the range is also KitchenAid), this wont be an easy task. Ive always thought highly of this brand but I guess this new generation of people in manufacturing isnt what they used to be. Signed, DISSATISFIED CONSUMER.

Oh, and the worst thing is that the original is warrantied for 3 years, but now that you have a replacement part in it is only warrantied for 90 days. He warned me that I would have problems down the road. One year later and guess what? My 90 day warranty long expired, the control panel has just failed again. Bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher at a cost of almost 1600.00. The very first time I used it, it leaked large amounts of water onto my new hardwood floor. It arrived with a dent in the front panel. KitchenAid refuses to replace the dishwasher even though it is within their 1-year warranty period. They want to send a new tub then have the repair technician disassemble this one and rebuild it from the old and new parts. And, because we didnt install it within 30 days of purchase (because our kitchen reno took longer than expected), their cosmetic warranty has expired and they wont replace the door without a charge to me. The dent in the door seems to indicate damage to the unit before I ever received it. The leak of this brand new dishwasher is in no way my fault yet they refuse to replace the unit. If I had known this was their policy, I would have NEVER purchased a KitchenAid. I have a Samsung refrigerator. First the water dispenser wouldnt work (unless I was in another room when it would come on and dispense all by itself and all over my floor). Then the ice dispenser wouldnt work, followed by every other possible mechanical failure. The doors did not seal and the ice dispenser wouldnt seal properly causing frost to form around it and on the back panel inside the fridge. Now it wont cool properly. The store said it would take over a week to get a new computer panel and kits to fix the seals. I have to unplug and plug back in to get it to run at all.The KitchenAid customer experience center said they will only repair it, not exchange it and essentially “Too bad, so sad for you. I just got off the phone and as usual got nowhere with KitchenAid people including the manager. I too have had nothing but headaches with this piece of junk. As someone said, the top rack just collapsed downward on one side. We replaced the rack, and another part already; the junky plastic on the rack keeps breaking. The door for the soap doesnt open and it has been a better dish rack than dishwasher. I have washed dishes by hand more often than I was able to use this product. I am so disappointed that they, as a big company, couldnt send someone out for free for a change and try to back their name. They brag as you wait on the phone (which is forever), about how wonderful their service is. Well, the last visit cost over $100 to have a man run my dishwasher empty and tell me to use less soap and not packets. Now a manager told me to see if it works in the other types of washes. I asked how that would solve my problem. What am I supposed to do, switch from my one hour and compromise? I told him management is not his calling and he should consider another job. Never again will I buy KitchenAid which is a shame because my first one was great!

Thank goodness we bought the extended warranty, because as I write this I am waiting for the repairman to come out for the FOURTH time. This will be the third time that ice has built up along the inside of the back wall, and to fix it requires the unit to be shut off, drawers and shelves removed, and the ice to melt away so he can open up the back and do his thing. The ice build up impacts the fan, creating a loud noise, and inhibits the ability of the unit to make ice. The other service call was for a malfunctioning deli tray control. Dishwasher just quit working about 3 weeks ago. After about one week, I tried cleaning the inside. The bottom was all rust. When I went to wipe it out I got shocked. Needless to say, I left it alone. Called technician in and he said it was the worse dishwasher he had seen. The seal on the motor evidently leaked and blew out all the functions for operation. It would be too expensive to repair. Here is a picture of the dishwasher. This dishwasher was installed 2 years and 1 month ago.

11 months into the purchase of our KitchenAid French Door Bottom Freezer, water started leaking onto our NEW hardwood floor, from the bottom of the freezer. Because of how new this was and no VISIBLE problem, we assumed it was an ice cube that dropped out, or something from the filtered water spout on the fridge. At 12 months, we investigated further and noticed the ice build up on the bottom of the freezer. The water was coming from here. The warranty on this had expired, of course. But, who could imagine that a pricey refrigerator such as this would only last 1 year? We got this repaired at our expense thru a certified dealer, so any other warranty would still be valid.Well after keeping careful watch on the bottom of the freezer, and scraping ice when we could, we have the very same problem again, a little more than 1 year later. Thick ice now, and of course water coming from the bottom. It seems this problem is systemic to the design of this product. This is not satisfactory to the consumer!!!

We bought this KitchenAid Range in December 2015. One year and 2 weeks later the oven stops working on Christmas Day. No longer on warranty. This is the worst appliance I have ever owned. It takes a long time to preheat and the bottom baking drawer doesnt seal well. I wrote an email to KitchenAid customer service and have not received a response. I hope this review prevents others from buying this expensive, undependable range. This is a real lemon.

I purchased a suite of Kitchen Aid products in July 2011 from Art Handlers Appliance Center. Refrigerator, dishwasher, gas convection oven and range and microwave. They were installed in my new home. To date, the handle on my microwave didnt just come off, the plastic broke. It just doesnt heat food quickly and is the noisiest microwave ever. The range has knobs on the front and the writing on all the knobs came off within one month. Im currently on my third set of knobs and they now have no writing on them at all. Therefore if anyone else uses the range they have no idea what they are doing. Also, unless you lock the unit, if you lean over it to get something out of a cabinet, you can easily turn it on with your body without knowing it. Overall, this is a dangerous unit to own.

Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

I purchased the KFIS29BBMS French Door Bottom Freezer refrigerator in 12/13. On November 1, 2014 the refrigerator quit cooling and the freezer quit. Of course, we lost food. The dealership brought us a loaner refrigerator because it took several weeks for the part to be delivered. It was repaired on Dec. 12, 2014. On Christmas Day 2014 while we were gone, it quit working again. Again we lost food. It was picked up to be repaired by the dealership on 12/26/14. The old loaner fridge was brought back and I havent seen my refrigerator since. I have called Whirlpool corporation and have been given the standard warranty speech that they will repair it. I have asked for a new refrigerator to replace mine since it was less than 1 year old and obviously defective. Supervisor Chris was not helpful and said I shouldnt have bought the refrigerator if I didnt like the warranty. So count me in if a class action suit is started. I suggest we now go to social media and tell the stories.

Asked him why we were not contacted for a recall and he said they only recall for bigger issues like electrical issues. Called Kitchen Aid. They were more concerned with the date of purchase than the DEFECT!!! Told them I had an extended warranty and they said they didnt know why the repair person would say those things... Told me to put a claim for damages to broken dishes through whomever I bought the extended warranty... Should have been a RECALL KITCHEN AID!!!! They sent me a claim form for damages... We have had KitchenAid dishwashers for 20 years. I got this dishwasher three years ago after six months, it wasn’t cleaning the dishes. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the wrong detergent. I switched to Cascade. The fact that you need to buy a special detergent to go with these dishwashers seemed pretty peculiar, but I did it. Since then I’ve had a repairman out three times because it leaks, wasn’t cleaning the dishes, water wasn’t emptying, and now all of the wheels have dissolved and fallen off the dishwasher on the bottom rack. They have melted onto the drying bar. I am grateful they didn’t start a fire. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the detergent Cascade and that dissolves the plastic on the dishwasher wheels.... WHAT???? I finally called kitchenaid and she told me that have never heard of this ever happening and that my warranty was out. I told them that not have if any wheels on my bottom rack was inexcusable and I demanded they send me wheels. Finally they said they would. That was 7 days ago. They said they would send them but if I couldn’t put them on I’d have to hire someone, they would not pay for that. I am very disappointed in kitchen aid, and will never, ever buy another.

We have had a French Door fridge by KitchenAid in March 2019. Today is the third service call on the freezer filling with frost, and the ice maker, which pours ice out at an unbelievable volume constantly. The ice maker has now been replaced twice, and the technician tried to blame me for its malfunctioning (because I love taking time off work to hang out with him, I guess?). The door has rust spots all over it (which he has used my baking soda and vinegar to attempt to clean), and he told me today that part of the motor sounds like its going to need to be replaced, too. Customer service is like a Kafka story...theres no way to replace what is clearly a defective item until its deemed unrepairable, but theres also no rule about how many repairs/replacements will deem something unrepairable. I just know my warranty will end up running out before they replace the item. Im so deeply disappointed because something like a brand new fridge doesnt make it into my life very often, and thinking that Ive wasted my money on a clunker that will continue now to waste my time & money is heartbreaking. I wish the company will take responsibility for their product and stand behind it when it doesnt work properly.

I purchased a Kitchen Aid two-drawer dishwasher in 2009. This has been the biggest problem appliance I have ever purchased. I am glad I paid for the extended warranty because the techs have been out every 90 days maybe more and they know my address for the same problem that keeps happening. It is the Bizel that are located in the top and bottom drawers, that continue to break... AND when they do if the dishwasher is not monitored, it causes water to leak all over my hardwood floors that are ruining them. The warranty company informed me that if it is not a major component, they will not replace the unit. Obviously, this is a major component as if this component breaks you cannot run the dishwasher?? So, how can Kitchen Aid determine that this is not a major component. This was an expensive dishwasher and also you cannot fit any regular sized plates because they do not fit...so we have to eat off of appetizer plates. I will never buy a Kitchen Aid appliance ever again. Kitchen Aid needs to resolve this problem or I am taking this issue to attorneys that I work for. One really unhappy Kitchen Customer!

We purchased a stainless freezer at the bottom model in January of 2013 from a local appliance store. Within a couple of months we had a freezer that stopped getting cold and lost all the food in it. A repairman came quickly and said it was working fine and it continued for a year. Then the freezer stopped working for a day, but came back on. In October of 2015 the freezer stopped completely. We have had a series of repairmen out and we still have no freezer. I have called KitchenAid and they said they would only fix and repair what is in the sealed unit, but that often the control panels fail and that they wont fix or replace the control panel. We paid top dollar for a fridge that lasted two years. There is no way I would ever buy a KitchenAid product again for any reason. This has been a nightmare. We were without a fridge during the hottest two months on record and now we are going into the holidays without a fridge/freezer. I would never recommend buying a KitchenAid appliance and would warn anyone to avoid this company.

The broiler element on my KitchenAid range (Model No. KGSS907) came on by itself and stayed on. I was in the living room, and the first I knew was the smell of burning. Not only did it come on, I couldnt turn it off, the control panel being non-functioning. To stop it, I had to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, nothing else worked. Now I am afraid to leave the range alone. This is a big problem since I travel a lot. I was recently away in Europe for a month. Can you imagine what could have happened if the stove came on during that month? Normal practice for any controls designer is to make sure that any failure goes to the off position, but that apparently that does not apply to KitchenAid. Does anyone know of a recall?

It takes longer to run a cycle and has lower pressure than my previous Inglis model. Items on the top shelf sometimes are not thoroughly cleaned. Saniclean and pro scrub need to be activated to get a thorough cleaning. Normal wash is not adequate. Deep tub, and it has 3 racks, so lots of room to place items. Wish the third rack had an impeller to clean items in it. Stainless steel front with controls on the top of the door hidden. Very nice packaging. Take extended warranty, run the cleaner through once every couple of months to get rid of the scum build up. Clean the internal filter every couple of months also. The Steam venting port damages your wooden cabinets next to the dishwasher. I had to put a plastic liner on the inside of the cabinet (facing the dishwasher) to stop the moisture from damaging the cabinet.

Since Whirlpool stock is way up in price, might be a good time to sell...or short the stock...After owning Maytag for 4 years and having a manufacturers defect they made me an offer I could not refuse and I bought a new top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher on 6/2013. I am real happy with the performance. Its quiet... cleans great so far. The bad news is that a thousand dollar dishwasher should not have such a poorly designed upper basket. The wheels just broke and several expensive pieces of glassware fell out and broke. Ask me if I am angry...LOL. After reading the many complaints on the design and quality of the parts used and that most have experienced the same problem I urge everyone to call Whirlpool corp. at Corporate Office Headquarters HQ: Address: 2000 N. M-63, Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022-2692 USA, Corporate Phone Number: 1-269-923-5000, and ask for the Office of the President and complain. In 2007 I spent over 25K on KitchenAid appliances, one of which was a microwave convection oven that cost over $1700. In 2011 that unit failed because the heating element died. I was told by repair that it would be cheaper to replace the unit because even if repaired there was no guarantee it would last. No assistance from KitchenAid. I purchased a second KitchenAid microwave oven. Three years later it failed...The heating element died. When I contacted KitchenAid after numerous posts on social media and emails, they agreed to pay for the part but I would have to pay for the service call, which I did. Nine months later and the heating element has died again. I contacted KitchenAid and their response after numerous social media post was to offer me the ability to purchase a new microwave at discounted rate. The offer was only good for 48 hours. I did some research and found out that their discounted rate was the exact same price that the unit is sold at by major retailers. So now the company is being unethical by making me an offer that is supposedly below retail and asking me take a huge leap of faith and purchase a 3rd microwave? I feel like I have been taken advantage as Im sure many other consumers have felt by KitchenAids false advertising about the quality and workmanship of their product. My intelligence has been insulted by their feeble attempt to pass off the current retail prices for their units as special discounted rate that are being offered because of the issues I have had with my previous two microwaves. No one should purchase their products if they are willing to operate in this unethical manner. No one should purchase anything from a company that will not stand behind their products. I guess I will contact the local and national news outlets. Hopefully one of these agency will pick up my story as lesson to other consumers who are in the market for new appliances.

We have had 9 service calls to date each requiring a 1/2 day of our time waiting for the appointment at home. The freezer has failed totally 3 times and the refrigerator then fails a few days later. We have lost our food three times and had damage to the floor as a result of the ice maker defrosting. Our last service call replaced the last operating part, and it failed in three days. My wife and I purchased KitchenAid appliances for our home thinking that these would be quality products and something that would last with the least problems. Also, we have received good service from their company reps. As with various KitchenAid models, there seems to be issues with the self-clean mode on the ovens. The first time we tried to use the self-clean mode, it locked up after about an hour and would not release nor would our oven operate. We called for service and we chose only the 1-year warranty so ours was out of warranty. It became a costly repair of about $300.00 to replace a burned-out thermostat. After repair, about a month later, we tried to clean it again and the same occurred. This time, I researched on the Internet for the schematics and I replaced the same thermostat for $50.00 myself. The stove did work and freed up but we still cannot use the self-clean mode. What is the sense of paying for quality products and paying for features you cannot use? KitchenAid says there is nothing they will do as no recall has been issued. Can this also become a danger to use in our home? Needless to say, we also have problems with our ice maker on our KitchenAid refrigerator which is also out of warranty. The problem here is the ice cubes get hung up in the maker and stops making ice as it is hung up. Who wants to check this every day?

While building a new home we selected KitchenAid for several of the appliances. The freezer in this refrigerator failed after less than 2 years. The factory approved service company was called and on the first visit they determined it to be a evaporator fan. Of course they did not have the part. So it was replaced on visit number 2. It failed again after about 1 month and visit number 3 was scheduled. This time it was determined to be a controller board. Again, the tech did not have the part so visit number 4 is scheduled. Our experience with Kitchenaid has been a disaster. Their response? Complete indifference. My wife and I bought $10k worth of appliances less than two years ago. The first to fail? The dishwasher routinely flooded the floors. After the 4th repairman came to our house our dishwasher was replaced. The first two repair visits the repairman suggested maybe we were putting our dishes in the unit incorrectly and the second time he said maybe we were using the wrong soap. Really? Our wall oven has required two visits from repairmen to recalibrate the controls because when it said 350 degrees it was actually 250 degrees. Now the unit wont get out of the preheat stage. And now after spending Friday morning away from work to have $750 worth of replacement parts installed by a repairman, the refrigerator is broken again - including water all over the floor. We did purchase an extended warranty with the products through Best Buy. EVERY TIME we call Best Buy they do their best to point the finger at Kitchen Aid and Kitchen Aid responds with a we could care less about your problem.” So whats next? We continue to get our appliances fixed (that is until they break again) but we need help with getting Kitchen Aid and Best Buy to care.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in June 2011, model number KUDE70fvss2, and I have had nothing but problems with it. Lipstick never comes off of cups, glasses or silverware. All glassware is cloudy with all kinds of drinking matter still inside. I have to wash everything by hand when the cycle is over... I have had the repair and warranty people out too many times to mention. Water that runs through is scalding. I use recommended products and have even made my own hoping something would help. I used to love KitchenAid. I had a suite (dishwasher, refrigerator and range/oven) from them for 10 years in my old home and had no issues. Naturally, when I went to purchase appliances for my kitchen remodel in my new home, I bought KitchenAid again. A year after they were installed, the fan in the oven started to rattle and I began to notice surface rust on the appliances. Ive always used stainless steel cleaner, and I never had this issue with my old appliances. The rust will not even come off with the cleaner. KitchenAid sent out a service technician who fixed the fan and looked at the rust. He said the rust was a problem with all of the stainless steel appliances when they get any water on them. Seriously? A dishwasher, refrigerator and oven? When do they not get water on them? When I contacted KitchenAid, they told me it was a cosmetic issue and therefore not covered. They did call their service technician who said he only saw a small amount of surface rust on the stove and did not look at the other appliances. He also told them it was an environmental issue. (Totally different from the story he told me.). KitchenAid also said it was a cosmetic issue and there was nothing they could do about it as I had used the wrong brand of stainless steel cleaner and the environment was too moist. My home is 30 miles from the ocean in a desert climate, and my previous home (where I did not have problems) was much closer to the ocean, so how it that environmental? This shiny, expensive bells n whistles model replaced a new and very similar Whirlpool which lasted only 6 days before dropping dead. Repair parts were several days away and we were w/o a reefer. Retailer (Lowe’s) very kindly stepped in and arranged this replacement which was actually a slight upgrade and delivered it the very next day. Looked great until the next morning when it seemed that ice maker wasnt working correctly. Within a day and a half the ice maker required service. It was leaking and freezing all over inside the door and top of reefer interior. This resulted in two service visits before a heater kit had to be installed (factory told repair tech it should have been installed at factory). Following this, continued leaks until new seals were installed. Now, 10 1/2 months later freezer quits. Service tech comes, advises this acts exactly like a service flash they received. Performs a number of diagnostic tests and calls KitchenAid as the service bulletin does not offer any fix only says to call for special instructions. Those special instructions were to give me a case number and Customer Assist telephone number. He was told by KA there was nothing he could do - that the matter was being submitted for review and disposition. Meanwhile no freezer and water gushing forth onto kitchen floor from dead freezer/ice maker. I call the number provided and am told that the team would be reviewing the matter and it could take five (5) business days for a decision as to whether it would be repaired or replaced. This being totally unacceptable I was referred to a supervisor who told me there was no way to expedite the process. I told her that five days was totally unacceptable for a replacement decision and then comes the kicker... The five days is only for the decision, if approved by the team any replacement will take an additional 10-14 days! In the meantime I have no working freezer and the refrigerator side, while working, is much warmer than optimal temp settings and compressor is making significant noise. Until this venture we have always had Whirlpool/KitchenAid appliances for 42+ years of marriage save for a short stint with a GE reefer that wasnt our choice. TEST QUESTIONS: Do you think well ever buy anything from KitchenAid/Whirlpool again? (Oh, and did I mention this year we plan to upgrade range, microwave and dishwasher?) Is it any wonder foreign appliances are flooding the market in a country where Made in the U.S.A. once meant quality, longevity and outstanding customer service?

I own 4 KitchenAid appliances, all 7 years old and all have needed repair. The microwave door spring broke, as well as the dishwasher door spring after the warranty. The refrigerator needed the entire electronic board and fan replacement, of course after the warranty. Lastly, the oven. But it was repaired while under warranty. We are 2 adults, no children and live in this home 6 months a year. I asked KitchenAid if there was a recall. The answer was no! So, I am not very happy about KitchenAid appliances and will not recommend or ever purchase Whirlpool products again. Not happy to say the least.

I had very similar experience on my 8-year old side-by-side KitchenAid built-in refrigerator (KSSC48QMS01). It started out with loud motor sound once in a while, then I noticed that the control panels numbers were flashing. Power Off/On from the panel, or on the physical switch did not make the flashing go away. This lasted for about a month before it produced chirping sound every 5 seconds. Four days after the chirping sound appeared, my food started to be not cool any more (The freezer side was still okay, and the foods in the drawers were not as warm as the ones on the shelves).Anyway, I ordered the Repair+1 plan from KitchenAid (actually it was Whirlpool), and they sent ASI to come the next day. The engineer from ASI was very good. In less than an hour, he replaced the control board, and I have cold food (and lots of ice from ice maker!) that night. All in all, I only lost two days use of the refrigerator, plus the cost of the plan (~ $400). A new refrigerator would have cost me more than $8,000, plus 3-4 weeks of time when I will have to wait for them to build it. I am very happy about the service I received from ASI (281-452-2121). The engineer arrived promptly, is competent and courteous, and the work was done professionally. He took my broken control board, so he can send it for repair and use it for the next customer.

Replacement parts are not available, some parts have to be sent out for weeks to be repaired leaving you without a refrigerator. Needed to be repaired several times, not being able to get replacement parts is ridiculous.
