Refrigerator Error Codes
CODE: EC40
PROBLEM: Excessive Freezer Compressor Run – This means that the freezer won’t stop running.
FIX: Depending on the internal temperature of the refrigerator, you will need to do one of two things:
If the internal temperature is high: If the refrigerator door is not open, but the temperature is still high, it is suggested that you contact a certified appliance repair service.
If the internal temperature is normal: Clean condenser
CODE: EC50
PROBLEM: Excessive Refrigerator Compressor Run – This basically means that your refrigerator runs constantly or too much. Compressor run time is affected by the amount of food in the refrigerator, temperature of that food, external and internal temperature and length of time the door is left open.
FIX: If you receive error code 50, there are a few different things you can do to fix it:
Make sure nothing is blocking the door from closing and sealing correctly.
Clean the condenser if it is dusty or dirty.
Remove anything blocking the condenser fan blade, or tighten it if it’s loose.
See if the sealed system is leaking.
CODE: EC24
PROBLEM: Defrost Underheat – This means that the defroster is not heating high enough to do its job.
FIX: An EC24 code fix also depends on the temperature:
We recommend calling a Sub-Zero appliance repairman if the temperature is high.
If the temperature is normal:
Make sure the condenser is clean and clear of any dust or debris.
CODE: EC06
PROBLEM: Thermistor Inconsistencies – This means that the evaporator thermistor in the refrigerator read inconsistent temperatures on several occasions. It can also mean that the thermistor shorted for longer than ten seconds or read open.
FIX: Sub-Zero recommends contacting a Factory Certified Appliance Repair Center to service your refrigerator.
CODE: EC20
PROBLEM: Faulty Defrost Bi-Metal Operation – A bi-metal defrost thermostat prevents the refrigerator from overheating while it’s defrosting.
FIX: Turn of the refrigerator circuit breaker. Wait 30 seconds and turn it on again. If error code EC20 does not resolve itself, contact a Sub-Zero certified repair center.

I chose a built-in all refrigerator for it's energy efficiency, and have a separate under counter freezer. The Sub Zero is very roomy and well lit. Have had some issues with dark staining of the white etching on the glass shelves, (which removes mostly with cleaning). Bought in 2001, still going strong in 2019 with only one repair. Very easy to access/clean coils. Fits a huge pizza box on bottom shelf! Stainless steel face looks great. Can set exact temperature desired. No ice/water on door, too many things to break, and I prefer to make my own ice. Ice makers are notorious for problems, so I kept it simple.
Wolf Dual Fuel 30" Range - I think each buyer needs to decide for themselves whether these stoves are worth the money. We believe we made a great purchase. The dual stack burners are amazing for precision heating. The oven is perfect and very accurate. The cooling fan, unlike our older DCS is quiet. The burner drip pan is enameled, making cleanup a breeze. That said, I have two issues that I would expect on a premium stove. Major - there are no led indicator lights at each burner knob that clearly states (from across the room) that the burner is lit. Especially with a very low simmer, it can be hard to determine whether the burner is on or off. A simple led will clearly tell you. Minor - I think the oven light should come on and remain on as long as the oven is on, not just went the door is opened. My preference!
I have 5 sub zero/wolf appliances some of which I have had for over 20 years. They are the best! I have found Wolf to be a great company and very supportive. After years of owning my subzero refrigerator I did not realize how fresh it kept my food as it had just became a norm. At my lake home because of expense we did not get a subzero refrigerator/freezer. What a mistake! When I asked my husband what he would have changed in our major remodeling project, his response was to get the subzero refrigerator/freezer. Nothing Better then Subzero/Wolf.
Built this into a cabinet in our office kitchen and its perfect. No trim kit needed. Works perfectly, food cooks perfectly, very happy.
This latest model is a perfect fit for my built-In space.
Have had the refrigerator for 20 years, very few repairs, functions very well, still looks like new. Side by side refrigerator, freezer on the bottom with ice maker, costly but would recommend this fridge.
We really like our Wolf convection microwave oven. Abt technicians Chris and Marco were competent and courteous. Also they notified me for an early arrival to remove and replace my old in cabinet microwave oven. Thank you very much.
Bought a Wolf 60" Dual Fuel range about 10 years ago. Had quite a few problems with the thing. Circuit board had to be replaced several times - would fry if the self cleaning function was used. Despite the occasional problems, we used the range heavily, but after about seven years of use, I was fed up with the issues and was going to scrap it and get a different brand. To my amazement, Wolf offered to replace the range for less than a quarter of the original price. I figured that I had gotten at least that much use out of it and agreed. In short order, they brought in a new one and took the old one away. No problems whatsoever since then.
Fan stopped working due to a bad installation probably. Wolf was AMAZING about it. Immediately replaced the oven with a completely new product totally free within 2 weeks flat. I recommend Wolf because they have amazing customer service and you can rest easy they stand by their products. Called some other companies and was told their companies never would have replaced the oven only repair. So glad I went with Subzero-Wolf!!!
Excellent commercial grade fridge. Looks more than good enough (stainless steel), to blend in to a home setting. Rock solid performance. Excellent controls and a great freezer section. Model 650, with a bottom freezer. Twelve years on, and not a single issue.
Wolf 48 Inch Range with griddle - Sorry folks! I absolutely love my range. Wouldn't trade it for anything else. I had a very small problem with it when it was under warranty and repairman fixed it without any complaint. Love the griddle for cooking for large groups. Love the simmer and the list could go on and on. I've had it for 6 years!!!
Expensive, but worth it. Had to spend about $1500 to repair and switch to new refrigerant, but should be good for another 30 years. When you buy a Sub-Zero, you should never have to buy another refrigerator in your lifetime.

We love our Sub Zero. Very few issues over the decades but we are redoing our kitchen and are unsure about keeping this one or purchasing a new one. It’s a huge gamble! We clean the motor periodically and apply petroleum jelly when needed to increase the vacuum seals on the doors. Too bad we do not have a crystal ball!

I've owned my Wolf microwave going on 11 yrs w/ absolutely no problems. It does everything I need it to do. I'm sure technology has only improved it's capabilities...if that is even possible! Money spent well! I would highly recommend my Wolf microwave.
I bought a house and the previous owner did a major reno and installed Wolf appliances. A glass panel fell off the range hood. Wolf replaced free of charge as they felt it was a manufacturing defect despite the unit being 8 years old. Yes you can find appliances that are cheaper but I highly doubt those companies would stand behind their craftsmanship as Wolf did in this case. Without hesitation, I will buy Wolf again. Very impressed. William **, Edmonton Alberta Canada
Have had for 21 years. Very good. Not too many problems. Use private person to fix. Much cheaper. Mine is built in, really nice. I have enjoyed it, big nice size freezer room for everything. If I ever need a new one would buy it again.
The food in my refrigerator lasts longer so less waste. I have had many other brands over the years, but this is hands down the best appliance. I love it. It keeps everything cool and the icemaker works well.
Quality built throughout, steady cold or frozen temperature in respective compartments. It looks impressive, more like a part of the house than just an appliance. It is a bit expensive to buy however.
