Dishwasher Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Sub-Zero manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Sub-Zero appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Problem: Dishwasher Will Not Turn On or Start.
Possible Fix:
Door not closed securely.
Delay option turned on.
Water supply not connected or turned on.
Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
Door latch is engaged when door is open.

Problem: Dishwasher does not drain.
Possible Fix:
Blocked or clogged filters.
Clogged or kinked drain hose.
Debris in drain hose.
Blocked drain pump or garbage disposal.

Problem: Dishwasher will not fill with water.
Possible Fix:
Verify that the water shut off valve is on.
Check for crimps in the water supply line.
Make sure the door was firmly closed before turning on the unit.
Verify the filters are clean.
Verify the Delay Start option is not activated.
Verify the spray arms are not clogged with debris or hard water.
Make sure that water pressure is between 20 - 120 psi.

Problem: Dishwasher Dishes Not Clean After Wash Cycle
Possible Fix:
Spray arms not rotating or clogged.
Too much or too little dishwasher detergent.
Lack of rinse aid.
Wrong wash program selected.
Dishwasher not loaded properly.
Clogged filters or drain.
Diverter valve not working.

Problem: Dishwasher Has No Power.
Possible Fix:
Verify the unit power supply meets specifications.
Reset power at the power supply source (electrical box or circuit breaker).
Often, local code requires dishwashers have a switch under the kitchen sink that turns on and off to supply power to the unit.
The switch may have been accidentally turned off.
Verify switch is on and power is going to the unit.
Verify the power cord is plugged into electrical outlet.
Unplug the unit and plug back into the outlet.
Verify the unit is on a dedicated power circuit and does not share the circuit with other appliances.
Verify the electrical outlet has power by plugging in a different appliance, extension cord, or phone charger to test.
Verify the unit is not connected to a GFCI and, if so, that other appliance or outlets are working.

Problem: Dishwasher Controls Are Unresponsive
Possible Fix:
Clean the controls with a damp cloth.
Close the door completely, then open the door.
Verify the child lock and Sabbath feature are not turned on.
Turn the home circuit breaker to the unit off for 30 seconds and back on again. Retest the unit operation.

Problem: Dishwasher light bulb will not turn off.
Possible Fix:
Open and close the door a few times. If light starts to function, or flickers, it may be a switch issue that requires a service call.
Turn the home circuit breaker to the unit off for 30 seconds then back on again then retest the unit operation.

Problem: Dishwasher makes a lot of noise.
Possible Fix:
Improperly loaded dishes.
Blocked spray arms.
Machine is not level.
Possible motor issue.
Filter or drain plug loose.

Microwave Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Sub-Zero manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Sub-Zero appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Possible Causes:
Short or opened wiring.
Primary interlock system.

Possible Causes:
Short or opened wiring.
Primary interlock system.
Secondary interlock switch.
Touch control panel.
Key unit.
Relay.
Door switch issue.
Possible Fix:

Verify the unit is not connected to a tripped GFCI.
If accessible, test the electrical outlet that the unit is plugged into.
Verify the control panel is not locked.
Use the pad of the finger and not the tip or fingernail to press the buttons. The touch pad responds to reverse magnetism in fingertips.

Possible Causes:
Short or opened wiring.
Magnetron.
Power transformer.
Rectifier.
High-voltage capacitor.
Primary interlock system.
Touch control panel.
Low voltage.
Possible Fix:
If it is a new installation, make sure the unit is not in demonstration mode.
If so, the unit will count down very quickly and not heat the interior.
Refer to Microwave Showroom Demonstration Mode for more information.
Unplug the unit to reset power, or reset at the electrical supply source.

Problem: Microwave Does Not Open or Close and Controls Not Responsive.
Possible Causes:
Metal key/power supply unit.

Refrigerator Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Sub-Zero manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Sub-Zero appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

CAUSE-COLON
Fan in unit not working properly
Temperature sensor or thermostat malfunction
Compressor, evaporator, or condenser issue
Problem with door seal or gasket

CORE-ISSUE-COLON
What to do when temperatures rise in a refrigerator
Warm or high temperatures reported in refrigerator section
Why is the refrigerator not cooling or will not hold set temperature?
Unit does not cool well in warm months or humid, warmer temperatures
Food spoils before expiration date or food going bad quickly
Refrigerator stopped working

STEPS TO VERIFY ISSUE:
Only a Factory Certified Service technician can determine the exact cause of a cooling issue.
New Installation:
Verify the unit is on and running for at least 24 hours. If not, wait 24 hours for unit to cool properly.
Verify the door closes and was not left ajar for a long time. Turn the door ajar alarm on if it is not on to make sure the door is closing all the way. See How to Turn on a Door Ajar Alarm for instructions.
Correct or remove anything blocking the door from closing.
New groceries or warm food will raise temperatures for a time. Temperatures should return to normal after several hours.
It is not necessary to clean the condenser on a unit that is less than 6 months old.

For any warm temperatures in a Sub-Zero refrigerator:
Check the setpoint temperatures for the compartment. See Refrigerator and Freezer Temperature Settings.
On an electronic control panel, 38°F is the factory setting.
For a dial control, set the dial between 4 and 6. 1 is warmest, and 10 is coldest.
200, 300, and 500 Series Sub-Zero products have dial controls.
Clean the Condenser if not done in the last 6 months.
Note: If the temperature is above 48 degrees (set at 38), it is unlikely to recover from a condenser cleaning.
Contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair. The service call can be canceled if the temperatures do return to normal.
Verify the unit is not in Showroom mode. This is only likely if unit was a product on display in a dealer showroom.
If temperatures do not appear, or the control panel does not respond, verify the unit is not in Sabbath mode.
If the lights are off and there is no cooling in the refrigerator but the freezer is working normally, make sure the refrigerator was not disabled.
Verify if only one or all sections are not cooling. This information is helpful if service is necessary.
Wait 24 hours for the unit to return to normal temperatures after correcting any or all of the above.
If the refrigerator is still warm after these steps are complete, service is necessary to expertly diagnose and repair the product. Contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.

I chose a built-in all refrigerator for it's energy efficiency, and have a separate undercounter freezer. The Sub Zero is very roomy and well lit. Have had some issues with dark staining of the white etching on the glass shelves, (which removes mostly with cleaning). Bought in 2001, still going strong in 2019 with only one repair. Very easy to access/clean coils. Fits a huge pizza box on bottom shelf! Stainless steel face looks great. Can set exact temperature desired. No ice/water on door, too many things to break, and I prefer to make my own ice. Ice makers are notorious for problems, so I kept it simple.

Wolf Dual Fuel 30" Range - I think each buyer needs to decide for them
Wolf Dual Fuel 30" Range - I think each buyer needs to decide for themselves whether these stoves are worth the money. We believe we made a great purchase. The dual stack burners are amazing for precision heating. The oven is perfect and very accurate. The cooling fan, unlike our older DCS is quiet. The burner drip pan is enameled, making cleanup a breeze. That said, I have two issues that I would expect on a premium stove. Major - there are no led indicator lights at each burner knob that clearly states (from across the room) that the burner is lit. Especially with a very low simmer, it can be hard to determine whether the burner is on or off. A simple led will clearly tell you. Minor - I think the oven light should come on and remain on as long as the oven is on, not just went the door is opened. My preference!

I have 5 sub zero/wolf appliances some of which I have had for over 20 years. They are the best! I have found Wolf to be a great company and very supportive. After years of owning my subzero refrigerator I did not realize how fresh it kept my food as it had just became a norm. At my lake home because of expense we did not get a subzero refrigerator/freezer. What a mistake! When I asked my husband what he would have changed in our major remodeling project, his response was to get the subzero refrigerator/freezer. Nothing Better then Subzero/Wolf.

Bought a Wolf 60" Dual Fuel range about 10 years ago. Had quite a few problems with the thing. Circuit board had to be replaced several times - would fry if the self cleaning function was used. Despite the occasional problems, we used the range heavily, but after about seven years of use, I was fed up with the issues and was going to scrap it and get a different brand. To my amazement, Wolf offered to replace the range for less than a quarter of the original price. I figured that I had gotten at least that much use out of it and agreed. In short order, they brought in a new one and took the old one away. No problems whatsoever since then.

Wolf 48 Inch Range with griddle - Sorry folks! I absolutely love my range. Wouldn't trade it for anything else. I had a very small problem with it when it was under warranty and repairman fixed it without any complaint. Love the griddle for cooking for large groups. Love the simmer and the list could go on and on. I've had it for 6 years!!!

Expensive, but worth it. Had to spend about $1500 to repair and switch to new refrigerant, but should be good for another 30 years. When you buy a Sub-Zero, you should never have to buy another refrigerator in your lifetime.

We love our Sub Zero. Very few issues over the decades but we are redoing our kitchen and are unsure about keeping this one or purchasing a new one. It’s a huge gamble! We clean the motor periodically and apply petroleum jelly when needed to increase the vacuum seals on the doors. Too bad we do not have a crystal ball!

I bought a house and the previous owner did a major reno and installed Wolf appliances. A glass panel fell off the range hood. Wolf replaced free of charge as they felt it was a manufacturing defect despite the unit being 8 years old. Yes you can find appliances that are cheaper but I highly doubt those companies would stand behind their craftsmanship as Wolf did in this case. Without hesitation, I will buy Wolf again. Very impressed. William **, Edmonton Alberta Canada
