Product Reviews:

We purchased our Viking DF Range in August of 2003. Our first problem surfaced during installation by Sun appliance in St Joseph, MI. The installer noticed that the surface grill grates were not manufactured level and would not set lever over the burners. They had to be reordered three times before we received one that lay flush. My thought was that a range costing almost $7,000.00 had such poor quality control that it left the factory with parts that were poorly manufactured. After several months of use, we noticed that the little rubber feet that fit on the bottom of the burner grates were falling out. I attempted to glue them but with no long term success. Out of frustration, I called Viking and was told I had to purchase a brand new grate at a cost of $35.00 plus shipping because they could not sell me this little piece of rubber worth no more than a $1.00. I finally found some on the internet in a Viking parts bag for $14.95 for 16 pieces. My opinion of Viking and my $7,000 range began to slip. A few years later the broiler element, PJ010002, went out at a cost of $299.00, including labor. Now, I am really getting upset. I had my choice of several other brands but chose Viking because of its perceived quality. The next surprise was in June of 2011 when the oven relay, part no. PM010129 burnt up filling the kitchen with a stinky smell. We had that part replace at a cost of $126.10. Now its only six months later and the same part burnt up again. I again called the Viking repair people at All Pro Appliance Service and was told the $35.00 part was covered under warranty but I would have to pay an $89.00 service call to have it repaired. I am very concerned now because I have a feeling its not a defective part but a problem with the stove. In searching this site and others, I have found several other Viking owners who have had the same oven relay problem. In summary, this is the worst appliance I have ever owned and would not recommend it to anyone. Shame on you Viking for such poor customer service and quality control!

We bought a Viking stove, hood/microwave, and dishwasher when we remodeled
We bought a Viking stove, hood/microwave, and dishwasher when we remodeled for our dream kitchen. Each appliance has had problems. First the bottom of the utensil basket disintegrated. It was flimsy and brittle after a few months of use. Brand specific replacement, $70 from our local appliance store. Fewer than 20 months later the control panel on top acted up. The appliance repair person said it would be at least 6 weeks to get a replacement part, if it was even available. It would cost, with installation, over $300. The stove has had several problems, the microwave/hood has problems. None of this was covered under any warranty. For a low end product the performance would be poor. Because its expensive, wed say it was abysmal.

My friend recommended Viking Ranges. I purchased one from their dealer and it went very well. However, when I turn off the burners, there is a really loud sound of the gas turning off. Also, the burners are big. I burned myself a couple of times, so I have to be careful. I cannot put any small pot on the burner, as well, because obviously, the red of the burner is bigger sometimes. And sometimes you just need to use smaller pots as you cannot use the big ones all the time. But, I like everything else about the Viking range.

I liked how the Viking products were built. They seemed very sturdy and the quality was very good. I love the high powered burner. Theres one thats super high power so I can boil water really fast. But recently the timer broke on my range. I called the repairman who found damage to the door. The range was working fine but this was something that couldnt be repaired so it was a big deal. He then contacted his Viking rep but afterwards they sent me an entirely new range and covered the installation. They were no longer making the model that I had, so I ended up with an upgrade and I didnt have to pay for a thing. I was blown away. The issue with the timers is that when the oven is heated up really high for cleaning, that destroyed the timer mechanism. The ranges dont come with a timer anymore and they had improved the range since I got mine in 2012. They sell a kit in case peoples timers go out. But what they did for me was amazing. They stand by their product. I will be a Viking owner for life.

I like my Viking refrigerator. Its a good-quality refrigerator. When it got delivered, there was a piece of plastic wrapped around the motor inside of it. There was no problem getting someone out here to work on it. They came out really quick. Also, whenever I had an issue with it, I went online and I was helped out and pointed in the right direction very quickly.

Our Viking Refrigerator is crap. The drip pan was cracked and the door for top drawer shelf for dairy products keeps falling off. Were supposed to get a new one and thats been a month. Ive had four service calls in trying to figure out what is going on with it. And so far, no ones been able to figure it out. Also, it’s loud and the fans make some noise. Ive called to let Viking know several times but the only authorized repair dealer in our area is the one that broke the previous fridge. Theyre awful as well. Were still working with Viking. I spent 12,500 grand buying a new fridge. Im not gonna throw it away and go find something else until they figure out whats going on with it.

I bought a new house and the builder offered Viking. Compared to GE, I picked Viking. However, its not so great so far because not only were the refrigerator shelves broken, I also get a lot of inconsistent temperatures inside. And everything freezes at the the top and bottom shelves. Things are going really bad. So, theres no good circulation of cool air. I sent an email to them a couple of months ago to see if they can send me a replacement but I dont have anything yet. I had a dishwasher that also broke down within a year. I had a lot of difficulty getting through to Viking. I was trying to tell them what happened. It took them a long time to understand when I called them. I asked them if they can just replace the dishwasher because Ive been waiting long to get it fixed. They sent me to the customer service but they couldnt understand what I was asking them to do. They were reaching out to the appliance repair guy when I was asking them to replace it in the first place. I had a very frustrating time. Thankfully its repaired now but it took them two months to get it fixed. I always thought Viking was a very good brand. Im very disappointed. Im not really recommending Viking to any of my friends until I think otherwise.

We ordered the Viking Refrigerator and were very happy with it. We got it from the Ferguson in Sarasota. The salesman knew what he was selling. I wasnt over-the-top with him but he was okay. What was a little unusual was that they didnt have the stuff in-stock and we had to wait for production and delivery for about a month. The installation was rather annoying too. The guys that delivered it werent plumbers, so they took out our existing refrigerator, put it in the garage where we wanted it, and left the Viking out in the garage as well because they couldnt install the water element. They had to send somebody back the next day and we were inconvenienced by that. On the other hand, the quality of the refrigeration we received from the Viking seems excellent, so far. Also, I like the looks, the heavy door, the lighting, the way its organized, and the freezing compartment because of the French door. Wed recommend it to a friend.

We chose Viking because we just built a house and we wanted all the appliances to be the same. And we’ve made contact with an appliance company and they had a package with the three - the oven, dishwasher and refrigerator. The quality of the appliances is terrible. It was absolutely horrendous and we would never recommend, per our experience, Viking appliances again. We had three, now we have two Viking appliances, which caused an astronomical amount, and every one of the three appliances had defects and issues. We are superiorly disappointed in the quality of the appliances for the amount that they cost. The hinges are broken on our range. They had to replace the fan on our oven. The latch on the dishwasher is broken. The door was damaged. They had to replace the door on our dishwasher. I don’t know if that happened in shipping or not, on the dishwasher. But all three of our appliances have had issues. Our refrigerator was so bad that they had to take it out and replace it with a different brand completely. Our Viking fridge had a stainless finish and it looked like dimples on a golf ball on all the doors. They replaced them three different times, and every single time that they replaced them, it was the same exact thing. It’s definitely a defect in manufacturing. What happens is that they spray the foam insulation in there, and when it dries, it adheres to all over on the stainless steel backing and it sucks it in and it makes it look dimpled like a golf ball. They came out and replaced the doors three different times. They got the Viking representative involved and they said, “We’re gonna send you brand new ones from the factory.” When they came and installed them, those ones looked worse than the ones before. The appliance company felt so bad that they said, “We’re going to replace your Viking Refrigerator with a GE Café.” And that refrigerator is absolutely beautiful.

My kids are cooks and they like the quality of Vikings ranges. As for me, I like both the aesthetic of the design for home kitchen and their reputation for having a solid product. We got two ranges and the quality is good. But we had some problems with the packaging of the items. A number of our items loaded from Viking got damaged during shipping, which was a pain in the butt. I dealt with Friedmans Appliance and the people there were awesome. They interacted with the Viking rep and we never had any problem replacing units or having someone come out and look at it. So we were very pleased. My favorite thing about the ranges is the quality of the knobs. A lot of times, knobs would be cheesy and chintzy. But the ones on my unit are extremely solid. Theyre also just about the right size since Im a man working the stove.

I like my Viking Range very much. I looked at Wolf and a couple of other brands and I just liked Viking’s clean look. I also liked that fact that I could get the eight-burner without the griddle. I didnt want the griddle and not all of them have that option. Theres one feature about it that is completely lacking. I dont understand who designed this range. Theres no clock or timer on it and thats the goofiest thing Ive ever seen. Why wouldnt I have a timer on this when I can time my cakes and everything that Im cooking and a clock so I can see?We bought the range from an appliance store and we were very pleased with our buying experience. The reps were professional. They delivered on time. The price was as quoted. I was very happy with the service. Everything was good. The range is wonderful and I would recommend it. I love cooking and baking on it but it needs a timer.

Viking always had a very high-quality name and it's one of the higher-end appliances that you can buy. Aside from that, I'm a big person that grew up where you didn't rely on other countries for anything and with Viking, everything is made here in the USA. It provides jobs for people here and the quality isn't junk. Compared to that, I've been seeing a lot of things deteriorate in products that were imported into the country.

The range has had several issue since being installed. 3 of the grates were warped, 2 have been replaced and one is still on back order. The LED lights above the knobs stopped working after one day and now the fan is making a banging noise when I use convection. When the repairman came to look at that the LED lights he noticed some pieces were missing inside the knob assembly, which are also on backorder. Just poor quality for a $6000 appliance. My brother bought a Viking range. His wife is a really great cook and they loved the range. We had a range that worked off one of those panels and it broke down so we had to replace it twice. We wanted to get something that was totally manual and looked sturdy. the Viking range looked like the real thing. And it was a special with the dishwasher. We needed one of those so it all kind of worked out together. The qualitys great and its a real pleasure. I like the grill on top and you can slide everything across. However, I would never go back to the Viking dealer, P.C. Richards, again. Their guys came and I made the mistake of letting them install the unit instead of calling the plumber. They wound up cutting the heat shield at the back of the stove and they had to replace it. It was two weeks of back and forth and it wasn’t fun. That aside, we talked to Viking Ranges and they gave us a list of dealers since we wanted to get their runners. Our kitchen countertop is Butcher Block and the stove is sitting in the middle of the Butcher Block. I like the same stainless steel edging that I could put on the Butcher Block that would be alongside the side of the stove, like an angle iron. It would be attached between the countertop and the stove.

We moved into a new house and we got an upgraded stove from the builder’s stove and it was falling apart. The knobs were falling off and one couldn’t control the height of the flame so that got me looking for another stove. Beware Beware Beware! I have owned a Viking refrigerator for 3 years and have had 9 service calls so far. The model rvrf336ss5 has been known to have leaking issues and freezing issues in the chill drawers. In fact, Viking changed the model number after making some fixes, yet the last repairman mentioned it is a bad investment to buy either model. It is a sleek and nice fridge in appearance but don’t be fooled.Viking will do support teams are essentially trained to do everything they can to not replace their faulty merchandise. After 9 service calls the service department said they still lacked sufficient information. Viking will send their own “approved” service department, who essentially are too scared to report the truth because Viking will pull their contracts. This isn’t an opinion rather what we were backhandedly told. I am a handicapped frontline medical worker who has now retired and my husband is a frontline medical worker. During these awful times dealing with a faulty refrigerator and crooked service department is the last thing we need. Their refrigerators leak notoriously. If you have questions feel free to reach out **.

We had gotten a Samsung refrigerator before and it didn't work well. My husband always wanted a higher-end refrigerator. Viking was always the number one on our list. The purchase of our Viking Refrigerator went really well. We bought it at Pacific Sales, which is the higher end sales part of Best Buy. The delivery was good. There was one issue though. The handle wasn't tight enough, so it eventually became very loose. But when we called for service, they came out right away.

Built a new home in 2011, my ex wanted an elaborate kitchen that would be functional and fun to entertain in. We purchased Viking refrigerator, freezer, 2 dishwashers, 12 gas burners and 4 ovens, because our impression was Viking was top of the line. Turns out the line begins at the rear. The dishwashers never worked properly and I discarded them after 2 years & numerous service calls. The burners took several trips and replacement of the castings to get them level. The ovens take forever to reach temperature and each one takes a different setting to maintain required temperatures. Both doors on the refrigerator and freezer have sagged and required adjustments. Currently, we have been waiting for a month for a part for the refrigerator, in order to get the temperature under 50 degrees. Called yesterday again and was told that the part was on order and coming from the factory. I asked if it was coming by Pony Express, hello Viking have you heard about FedEx yet? Good thing I kept the 15-year-old Whirlpool or we would be eating out of a cooler.

I ordered the Viking over the phone with someone. I had to wait for the hood and the dishwasher for quite a while, but it was okay because we were waiting on other stuff for the kitchen remodel. I like the style of Viking Ranges and nobody else makes red in that kind of an industrial feel. Its quality also has been great so far. I like all that all the burners are the same size and its iron top is simple. It was pretty good and I’m glad that they just left it to me to install. However, the dishwasher that I’d gotten originally from them has no damage on the outside but was all dented on the inside, so I don’t understand how that could have happened and I didn’t realize this until I went to put it in after having it for 20 days after they delivered it. Then at the beginning of March, it stopped working. The pump that takes the water out just continually would run and it would never start another program. Viking replaced it for me because they couldn’t find a service person in my area. But they wouldn’t just send it to me to put in, so I had to deal with letting an installer put it in. The installer did not do a great job so right now, I have to go back and level it. Now I have to find some additional insulation because they took that with them and they didn’t put all the insulation in the front so it’s louder now. They also didn’t put one of the screw covers on and it’s a stainless steel screw on a black background so now the black tic-toe panel on the bottom has one screw that’s glaring. I gotta fix those things and I’ll paint the screw. I wish they would have just sent it to me and let me put it in, but they insisted on it. In terms of the way they handled the situation, I thought I was dealing with someone who wasnt able to make any decisions. It took them from the beginning of March until they put it in on Thursday to get a working dishwasher. But I would still endorse my friends in getting Viking because I think that’s not necessarily a manufacturing problem.

I own a heat and air company so we work on these refrigerator units and Viking is a middle-grade nice refrigerator. Then other brands, like Sub-Zero, have two pieces of refrigeration. They have a separate unit for a freezer. So I chose Viking. Besides, the floor-plan price for this unit was $7,500. I was going there thinking I was gonna spend about $17,000. But I bought this from Plugs and although this one is normally $12,000, the guy there said he would sell it to me for 7,500 bucks. I told him I didnt want a year-old model. I wanted to have a new one and he said that it was a brand new model. But I later found out that it was a year- or two-year-old unit sitting on the floor. The way it was sold to me is my only problem. But as far as the unit itself, it’s fine. I like everything about it.When we had a water leak problem, I had my son go look at it and it was bad water inlet valve. It was no big deal. But when I called the factory, they said that it was not under warranty. I told them that it was though. It was brand new and it had not been in the house for four weeks at the time. It took three months but I finally got a water inlet valve. The salesman from Plugs got involved with his Viking representative so he got it for me. However, if I have a problem tomorrow, what’s gonna happen with my warranty? I gotta call that dude back now at Plugs and ask about that. But now, I’m having a problem with everything freezing on the front shelf. It’s just on the top shelf though, where the air blows out of the evaporator. And they have a fix and it doesn’t cost me anything. I recently found out Viking actually makes a piece of duct, that I just need to call in the factory to get.

When the Viking refrigerator and the wine cooler were brought in by the ins
When the Viking refrigerator and the wine cooler were brought in by the installers, they damaged the handlebars and two of them had scratches. They hit the door entry area, too, so they damaged that as well and my contractor had to fix it for us. The two refrigerators were also not installed the way I wanted them to be installed and the doors were not in line with each other, so they were a bit off. Theres also a half an ounce of leak periodically occurring on the wine cooler side. The installers set the refrigerators in and put in the backing for them to be stabilized. They leveled it a bit and locked it into that 2x4 in the back. Then they left without installing the trim kit so my carpenter had to figure out how to put it in. The trim kit was for the refrigerator but we ended up installing it on the wine cooler side since that didn’t have a trim kit. Ben, from the Odmus Company, told me that I was supposed to use the trim kits for both sides, the refrigerator and the wine cooler, to make them look right and uniform. He said he would install them for me so I should get them. So I ordered another trim kit for the refrigerator but later, he said that there was supposed to be another kit for the refrigerator as well. This was never brought to my attention until months after I purchased the items, so I’m disappointed about that. I paid $1,000 for the installation and trim kits thinking that the installers would finish the job and do it correctly, but it wasn’t done so. I reported it to Viking and to the store manager, but I never received any calls from BestBuy about this issue. It’s been five months since I bought the refrigerators. BestBuy held on to them for me until I was ready for the installation, then they were installed in my house two months ago.I talked to someone from BestBuy last month and told them about my problems with the installation process. They got the original installer back to help me and they’re going to replace the handles, straighten out the doors for me and install the trim. But most of the work has been done already, so I dont see why I have to pay for the installation when the installers didn’t install anything. They just delivered the items and set them up. Other than that, I love the Viking refrigerator and the cooler, except for the leakage. They’re great refrigerators and I would recommend them to others. Since the installation process is the most difficult job, people have to make sure that Viking would do everything that they’re supposed to do and that they complete the job.

I got a Viking range lately and Ive had a bit of an issue with the burners. I’m out in the boonies so it’s on propane. Ive had a Viking stove for the past 10 years and I was pretty pleased with the product. And I bought a Viking dishwasher because my old dishwasher, that was approximately over 20 years old, went. So, when my built-in refrigerator went as well, I got a Viking refrigerator because I said, Im just gonna get a Viking. Everything else is Viking. I got my Viking refrigerator through P. C. Richard. In fact, I bought pretty much all my appliances through them and theyve been pretty good.I love my Viking refrigerator. Its roomy and holds a lot. So far, its a great product, so Im happy. I like the fact that the lighting is wonderful. You can see everything thats in it. In addition, I like the way that they have the drawers stacked. I have extra room to put other things in that I couldnt do with my other refrigerator because I had a side-by-side refrigerator then. So, if I had a wide tray, I could never fit it in that other refrigerator. But this one holds everything beautifully. The freezer is a little small, though. It holds a little less than my other refrigerator did but thats okay.

We wanted to redo our kitchen and we’ve known Viking for years. My husband wanted them and Viking was the only one who had the French Oven Doors which I wanted. I have used the oven, the refrigerator, the microwave and the ice maker. Our other refrigerator was so deep that you were constantly digging for stuff. The Viking ref is less deep, tall and I can see what’s there when I open the door. We bought it in Best Buy since we live in Hawaii and we were very limited on where we could go for certain things. It did not go well because it took us four hours to order when we already had all the model numbers. They worked with us but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Nevertheless, weve been really pleased with what weve got and we’re happy.

We had Viking range many years ago in our other home. We purchased again and when I got the oven, three months later, it stopped working. So I called the distributor that I bought it from and they contacted Viking and got the approval for warranty repair. Then they had a local service company contact me to take care of the problem. The contractors were fine. The issue with the Viking oven is that the hinges were either the wrong hinges or installed improperly. The oven did not close and stay closed. So during baking, it would overheat and a safety feature would kick in and turn the oven off. It was disappointing to have an oven that we had thought was really a good product, come and basically stop working, not being usable within three months. The service repairman replaced two parts that he thought were temperature-related. But it turned out that it was the door not staying closed that was causing the oven to malfunction. Its working fine now that the door stays closed. I like the range itself now that it works.

I bought a new home and the Viking refrigerator and the freezer were purchased by my builder through a supplier. I like the space because its a full-size refrigerator and I have great lights on the side of the inside of it and along the top, so its easy to see things. The fridge looks nice but Ive had some issues with it. It was making a terrible noise and then it went away. I didnt get around calling the repair people. Also, I was working and while I was away on vacation and my daughters were home this summer, the refrigerator lost cooling. So, the repair people came and they had to replace the circuit board which was odd. Prior to that, we had some drips in the back of it and then it went away and now its back so I have to call someone again. Its an expensive refrigerator and Im disappointed in its performance when it has, supposedly, had a good name and many years behind it. It has failed a couple of times and its only a year old.

Its a tough year because we bought the Viking range during COVID. We bought it last October but we couldnt get it until February or March. It was the same with our SubZero refrigerator. Its just the way it was last year. Our contractor put the range in and the ease of install was fine. They did the kitchen remodel and then, we redid counters and cabinets. The range heats up fast and even, and the stove and the burners work well. But the grates started showing wear. There are dings in it, like you dropped something on the grates or theyre torn off, and we hardly use it. The quality is not standing up to the price we paid for it. One thing I would like to have known is to burn it up before you try to cook something in it. I should have read the directions. We set off the smoke detectors. A sticker on the window might be a good idea. My wife had surgery and we had someone come to help my wife, and she was the one who used the oven first. The burners were easy to use. I had gas for the last 30 years so it was not hard so we didnt think about reading the instructions. We read them after we almost had the fire department called. Fortunately, we have good ventilation in the house and we have a Viking hood but that was what was expensive.

Now in 2016 again same it was not cooling. Water dispenser is not working one after other. So far we spend @ $2500 for repair. We wanted high-end kitchen appliances so we were looking at either Viking or Sub-Zero Wolf. We wanted to make sure that all of our appliances match so we went with Viking. Weve had the range for about a month now and so far, no issues. I feel like its pretty high quality, although when I put it on simmer or very low heat, it tends to lose the flame, so it is hard and I have to really adjust. I cant go all the way low or it will flame out, and it halts my cooking. Other than that, were happy with the oven. It definitely feels sturdy from the knobs to the door. It seems like its well put together so I appreciate that. I havent had issues with cooking. It seems to have a pretty strong flame and for everything that we are using it for, it is doing the trick. The infrared boiler is really nice. I just have to get used to it because it would get very hot. We burned a couple of things and we realized how powerful it was.We had an issue with the fridge. The right door that has the little piece that is supposed to move when shutting it so it can go in wasn’t lining up with the tracker thing that pushes it outwards. They came out and fixed that. Also, the top piece of the microwave wasnt put properly, so we just had the guy who was fixing the door do it as well. Overall, I am happy and I will definitely recommend Viking.

We remodeled our kitchen and have replaced all of our appliances with new Viking models to include: a 6-burner, 2-oven range; a 36 built in freezer, a 36 built in refrigerator, 2 dishwashers, a microwave and a double electric oven with French doors on top. I have had problems with not one, but ALL of my appliances within the first two years of owning each of them. The problems that were covered under warranty eventually got fixed, but the service provided in Rancho Santa Fe by the southern California servicer recommend on the Viking website (Executive Appliance), has been slow and unreliable. I was without a freezer for two weeks and only got it fixed because I repeatedly called them to chase the electrical board part and their technician (after losing several hundred dollars worth of food). The refrigerators hinge had a metal part that literally broke apart and fell on the floor. Again another, several week wait to get this fixed. Both dishwashers stopped working within the first two years and have been repaired and are working, but one has control buttons that constantly stick and the paint labeling the buttons is rubbing off. The electric oven does not heat evenly and the food at the back gets cooked faster, so you have to rotate your cakes and cookies or use the convection feature to minimize burning at the back. The small oven in my gas range does not work consistently, so I just use the electric ones now. So, if you intend to use your appliances regularly, I would advise avoiding Viking. Like other reviewers, its just a fancy name badge on your appliance, whats beneath is not well constructed or reliable. I am so DISAPPOINTED and will NEVER again purchase a Viking product. I cannot imagine how they will stay in business with such unreliable products. I am just furious about the time and effort Ive had to spend getting things fixed that are not even old. I guess I should have kept the very old appliances - - at least they worked.

My Viking refrigerator was provided by the builders and has been looking okay so far. I’ve been using it only a couple of months now. However, I do not necessarily like the design of the fridge. It doesnt have a water dispenser. I had expected a refrigerator with water dispenser, but apparently, Viking doesn’t make those anymore. I also would like to have a doorstop. The way the refrigerator is installed, it is very close to the oven handle, and if I open it down there, it hits the refrigerator door and puts a dent. So, I have to be careful. If it could have a doorstop that I could adjust and limit the opening of the door, that would help.

What I liked about Viking was the unwavering quality but I dont think thats true anymore. The Viking appliances that I have that were supplied with the apartment are of a much lower quality than I had come to expect from them. Theyre only a couple of years old but Im not happy with them. Im very disappointed with Viking and Im looking to replace the appliances that I have. With the open burner range, it feels very rickety and I have to take it apart to clean it quite often. But Im fearful about cleaning it. Looking inside, there are these loose wires and I need to clean the inside very carefully for fear that I will dislodge some wire or something. Also, I have a dishwasher and a microwave that have failed and the refrigerator freezes milk but doesnt have even temperature regulation. They replaced the microwave fairly quickly but when the dishwasher broke, I was without a dishwasher for almost two months. Viking seems to be able to replace things, but they dont seem to be able to fix things.

I spent $500 to have Thanksgiving delivered to my home, and Christmas wasn’t any better.... What holiday will I NOT be cooking for next. I’d like to say it looks good, but the front of it already has some rust spots/pitting marks right in front of the burners! I was trying to decide between Wolf or Viking; I work with high-end kitchens a lot in my business, clearly I chose badly. Don’t make the same mistake! Viking has quality in its name and it was on sale at the store so I bought a stove that is a combination convection and a radiant oven. The quality of the construction is good and the oven works well, but the durability of the trim and details is poor. The grates have a little rubber piece that plugs into the bottom of it that separates from the range-top that it sits on and those have started falling out. I called Viking and they said that those were only covered by a 90-day warranty. I was pretty displeased about that. I talked to managers there and they wouldn’t stand behind their product so it left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. I thought that they needed to take this seriously. I was shocked by their willingness not to stand behind the three months when this company has such a good brand reputation. And no one seemed to really care about it. We’re on our second Viking refrigerator because the first one failed after approximately eight years. The newer refrigerator which we got last year is operating great. It has not had the same problems at this point but having to replace a Viking after eight years, Ive never had that kind of circumstance with any other refrigerator brand. There are some parts that get frozen then they start to melt and leak in the refrigerator. They dont go out to the drain. There is this freezing thawing process that is part of the regular refrigeration process but the pathway for the melting gets blocked up. It gets frozen too so the water accumulates in the bottom of the refrigerator. That had happened a couple of times.Ive had problems with a variety of Viking products from double ovens to the refrigerators. I have two homes and I have full suites of Viking appliances in both kitchens. I’ve not been thrilled with them. Viking is overrated. They have a cachet but their performance and reliability do not live up to that cachet. There are lesser prestige brands that perform better than Viking.

Viking was having a deal where if you buy three of the main appliances, there would be a discount so I bought their refrigerator. It has a little space on the bottom that can fit a whole pizza box and I like that. It also has a wide freezer that has a lot of storage space in the separate freezer. But the unit has been with me for less than two years and it already needed repair. There was an electronic component on the defroster that went out. It was still under warranty, so I went back to the appliance store and got the name of the person that they recommended. I had to go online and make sure they had the warranty information and had to schedule a repair. Then they had to order the parts and the repairman had to come back a second time to install them. Aside from that, every one of the plastic drawers that pull out has hairline cracks. I talked to them about getting those replaced and Viking told me that since its a cosmetic issue, its not covered by the warranty. Also, when we were doing the repair and were taking out the glass shelving, the glue on the bracket that attached it to the glass came off. Its not a big deal because it sits on the glass, but it’s another example of why I dont see the unit as high-quality, like how the repair and appliance people described it. I also bought a Viking range and it works well but the preheat cycle takes a long time. I wish that there was more versatility and I would do away with the grill and just have a griddle that was two chambers wide. I was also disappointed that it doesn’t have a clock or automatic cut. So I feel that for what I paid for, I got a very low-tech item.

Weve only had the Viking Range for a couple of weeks. In another home in North Carolina, we’ve got a Wolf stove in there. The same company makes Wolf and Vikings but we wanted the Viking Range as it was the best fit for our kitchen in our new house. The dealer was great. On the day that we were supposed to get the range, they pulled the old one out and my husband realized that he had told them the wrong kind of gas fittings that we needed. The dealer, Cummins, told my husband that the one they had fittings on the floor, the one he had looked at, had actually the right ones. So they went ahead and connected that one instead. In the end, they were able to make sure were getting the right thing. So far, Ive been loving the Viking Range. Everything about it is great. I like the way the burners come off. We purchased 3 Viking appliances (French door refrigerator, free standing range, dishwasher) in the middle of Sept. 2019 as part of their 3 for 2 deal at close to $10,000. Two of the appliances (range and refrigerator) had problems within the first week. After 2 visits from a technician from the store we purchased the appliances from, the stove seems to be working (for now). Not sure if the problem is really fixed, but hopeful. However, the refrigerator is still defective. The freezer door sagged, went out alignment and appears to be warped. That happened not more than a week after delivery.A technician sent by the company we purchased the appliances from couldnt fix it, had no idea why it happened in the first place. We were told that a technician from Viking approved company would need to attempt a repair. If a repair wouldnt be possible, Viking would exchange the refrigerator. Unfortunately the technician sent by Viking on Monday couldnt fix the problem either, identify the problem or offer any solutions. After reaching out to Viking customer support today (they dont contact you) I was told that they would send another technician from the same company who may have an idea how to fix it! Really? I choose to purchase Viking appliances because I expected good quality products and excellent customer service. Good customer service means that after delivering a defective appliance + 2 attempts to fix a new appliance - you exchange the appliance without asking your customer to take off more time from work to try to fix the problem. I am very disappointed and honestly very surprised that this is the customer service Viking provides.

I bought my Viking range from Best Buy and they had it delivered. They were very helpful. I like the volume of heat that the range can produce on the burners. The only thing that they could work on in terms of improving it would be on the simmer function. Sometimes, when I turn it down to simmer, it goes out then itll click and the spark will come back on. Other than that, it works great. The quality is good.

I used Viking previously since they had a good name before and I went with them again. But the quality of the fridge that I purchased from them this time is very bad. It breaks down a lot and the temperature doesn’t work properly in any manner. Also, the space is not very friendly and its so small inside, even though its a big fridge. I called Viking and the reps asked me to register my model, and if I had an issue theyd send a service company to fix the fridge. But my refrigerator only has one-year warranty, so that’s really bad because it breaks down so much.

I was unhappy with Viking Range. It wouldnt hold temperature and it was serviced a number of times by a variety of authorized service agents and it cooks extraordinarily a long time to get it to function the way one would expect a range should. It took many months to get it working. So, the low point definitely was that the initial manufacturing quality was way out of alignment and I expected a lot more out from it being a full type model range. My experience with it has been rough. But I like its center burners, coupled with after the fact we acquired an integrated griddle piece that sits on top, which Im guessing Viking did use some mileage with that kind of burner.

Like many of the reviews here, our Viking French Door fridge was a lemon and so is the new one that showed up after 6 months of service calls and spoiled food. I have now heard from a service person and the appliance delivery men that I am not alone in my issues, which are detailed by many other reviews here. I have wasted 16+ hours of my life talking to Viking and waiting for service calls. Not to mention the $100s of lost due to spoiled food from the freezing in the back of the fridge. The fact that ice spills out onto the floor every time I open the freezer is a design flaw I could have lived with, but this is unacceptable. Built my entire kitchen around this fridge and now I need to figure out how to replace it. Do yourself a favor - the reviews are true - dont buy this fridge. Viking knows its refrigerator is defective, but keep selling it.

We have an induction range and a microwave. The microwave is not user friendly, I cant read the timer, hate that the control pad is behind the door. It looks sleek but I wish I never bought it. The induction range - the burners barely do anything unless you put the control at Med, Hi or higher. The knobs wiggle and are loose. They sent me new knobs but that didnt fix the problem. The oven seems to work fine, but I would much prefer a digital readout because there is no really accurate control of the temperature.

When we purchased our new home, the Viking product line was used by the builder. The quality of the refrigeration is really good. We have a unit that has the freezer at the bottom and then the upper unit is the refrigeration unit. The double-door unit is really good. Its a definite upgrade from our previous refrigerator in our old home and definitely a lot cheaper and a lot bigger than our previous refrigerator unit.I had no issues with the dealer. But I noticed that after a year, we got invitations from the deputy on board or the integrated maintenance feature refrigerator to replace a water filter and air filter so I purchased those through the Viking website. We recently had it installed, and it was really easy to do. Viking has very well built quality products. In fact, we have the kitchen full of Viking products. We have a Viking gas stove range as well as a double-oven. Were very satisfied with all of the products.

The Viking Range is really good and I like their burner power feature. However, we ended up getting one that we didnt even buy which is the appliance dealers fault. We bought the six-burner series with the griddle in the middle but ended up with an eight-burner that they installed. We were not here during the install, which is fine. I’m not upset about that. But trying to get the griddle and our money back has been a chore and we have been at it for two months and cant understand why it hasnt been done. The guy who owns the place is extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot when we went to see him and he did a wonderful job on the install but the follow-up items after the fact have just been a nightmare for us. But as far as the range goes, my wife absolutely loves it.

We have a condo here and we went to Ferguson, one of these retail stores, to look at the appliances. We liked Viking, so we bought it all from them. They looked elegant and efficient, and I liked the overall design and workmanship. When the bottom line of the refrigerator was making a noise in the back, the guy came over and fixed it. There was no problem, and it took him one minute. Then, another problem we had was that we were making too much ice. We took it out and all of a sudden, we were not making ice anymore. So, we did everything. What happened was that the ice must have frozen in the line. The guy then took it out and fixed that aspect of it, too. Now, everything is fine. It works like a charm and so we like it. It has got everything else in there. We like the Viking electric range too. It is excellent.

Viking has top quality and I love it. Also, it’s simple to use. I had a LG previously and it had all the million different settings and bells and whistles, but I never used any. I also had a LG refrigerator that was a lemon and it stopped working after about a year and a half, and the dealer was really difficult to work with. But every call that I made to Viking so far has been answered right away and they’ve been very helpful. I called them once to get the correct model numbers for the product registration and then I also did two follow-up calls to the parts department because my 1-year old slammed into the freezer and dented it. So, I had to order the freezer door. And it was really easy to do. I would highly recommend them.

In December of 2010, I had my kitchen remolded and bought an 8 burner, double oven Viking Pro range. When I owned a restaurant in the mid 80s we had a Viking range and I loved it. It cooked evenly and baked, roasted, broiled - fantastic. So Viking was naturally my choice. I paid around $12,000 for the range and $4,000 for the vent hood. The first year after it was installed, I did not use it much. My Mother became ill and I went to take care of her. When I started using it last year, it worked fine for a few months. Then in October of 2013, the oven started to cool down after an hour or so of cooking. Thank goodness I purchased a warranty for five years. The Viking certified repairman came out in November 3 times until a part was replaced that was recalled or so they said. The ovens and burners worked fine when the repairmen left. Two hours later, nothing worked - not even the burners which had no previous problems. Nothing would come on. Three more times repairmen come out. Finally in February, it was fixed until May when it started to do the same thing. The oven would not hold heat. Two more service trips and two months later, it was once again fixed. 10 days later after cooking and baking every day, the oven did not cook properly. My cheesecake and pies were not done in the middle and the bottom crusts were uncooked. A 3-lb chicken took 3 hours to roast and still was not hot enough to be safe to eat. A week later, the repair service is out again. Only this time he only puts his thermometer in the oven and after 30 min. says its holding temp. properly. Cant tell you how frustrated I am. I am not an amateur cook. I was a chef for 15 years and I used good ole recipes that have worked more than a thousand times in the correct time limits. Even after adding an additional hour to hour and a half baking time, pies and cakes were raw in the middle. Repair man doesnt understand it should be cooking properly. Hello, I showed him one of the pies I kept - nothing to say. Hate this oven by now. Cant understand, unless it cant work when used daily, for more than an hour. I will never buy a Viking range again. Bought my son a nice LG. Works beautifully - no problems at all.

I am very disappointed with Viking. I purchased a Viking Dishwasher (Model VDB450SS, Serial No. 081910D00018347) for my home and subsequently registered the product. I was never notified of a fire hazard recall on my unit (Recall date: April 10, 2012; Recall number: **) which states [c]onsumers should immediately stop using the recalled dishwashers and contact Vikings hotline for a free in-home repair. I discovered the recall on or about January 25, 2016, when my units electrical circuit ceased operation and I inquired about service. Thankfully no fire. I called the recall hotline, (800) 241-7239, was assigned Customer ID No. **, and was promised a repair kit would be delivered to my home within 15 business days. On March 1, 2016, I call back to the hotline to report that the repair kit still had not arrived, and I was advised that the issue was escalated and that another kit would be sent because they could not trace the 1st one. On March 24, 2016, I again called the hotline because no repair kit has been received. I was told that the company answering the hotline reported the matter to Viking and while I was placed on hold, they tried without success to reach Viking. I left my cell number and demanded a call back. The failure of Viking to timely address the recall is unacceptable. My family of 4 has been without a dishwasher for 2 months now.

I went to the store and looked at all the different refrigerator models. I was doing a kitchen remodel and I was going for a certain kind of look. I was looking at the GE Café and the KitchenAid that had the kinda industrial handles. I didn’t find Viking Refrigerators until my second or third trip. The thing that basically made me go to the Viking was that it had the handles that match my GE Café double oven. It looks very similar. Also, I was going back and forth between the French door and the side by side. But when I finally decided on the French door, and that was a whole process, the thing that drove me away from the GE and the KitchenAid was the inside design. I liked Vikings inside design the best. Some of the situations on the others were, when the door was open, you couldn’t open the vegetable drawer all the way unless you really, really open the door wide. Sometimes, the French door even blocks the drawers from opening. Another issue was that a lot of times, the shelves had an enter too at the back so things would fall down the back. I didn’t like the fact that it’s like if I put something on the shelf and if it’s small enough, it’s gonna end up falling down at the back of the refrigerator and I really didn’t want that hassle. But the bottom line is I like the look. The quality in terms of not having maintenance issues was good.

I bought my first Viking Professional eight years ago for aesthetic purposes and alleged reliability. Unfortunately, the freezer section broke down five years into it and I subsequently had to pay $1,000 to get that fixed. Where I am now, all of the built-ins of the Viking Professional line were already installed when I got here and six months into using it, one of the the refrigerator sections broke down even though my freezer section was cooling. I had not registered my refrigerator, but the customer service center expedited the service and the authorization code to the local service center so that we could address it quickly. Luckily, the repair guy had the part on hand or I would have been sitting without a refrigerator for a week or two if he had to order it. But he told me that he has seen this before with all the built-ins. The one that I have retails for $12,000 and if Im paying top of the line for the Viking Professional line, I expect some type of reliability. So Im a little disappointed. They probably didn’t engineer a certain piece correctly and in the manufacturing world, that may cause the piece to break down sooner rather than later or stop functioning the way it needs to.I have friends who use Sub-Zero, which has a price point thats a little higher, and I have other friends who have Wolf. When I benchmark my peers and what we have, mine’s average in terms of reliability. I don’t know their everyday details but I expect a little more reliability especially for the first five years of a product. Viking Professional is perceived as a high quality brand appliance and I think the salespeople and the dealer provide service to the best of their knowledge, but my personal experience has been such that I question the reliability of it. It hasnt met my expectations and unfortunately, I cant return it either.

The Viking Range in our house has been in it longer than we have and weve been here for maybe four years but its pretty good. I got it serviced last Friday to make sure all the parts are working in order and for the most part, everything is working fairly well. I like the griddle part of the range because its fairly easy to use and clean. The whole range is easy to clean because everything pops off fairly easy. Im not a neat freak but its nice to be able to get all the food out of the crevices. Also, cooking on it is fairly easy. But, I cant get the temperature low enough. The low feature is too hot and when I simmer, I cant seem to get close enough to it without igniting the pilot light again. For example, usually with rice, you put on a low simmer and the low setting is just still too hot for it. Also, I dont know if this would interfere with the flame but we have a gas stove and an overhead exhaust and it would be nice to have the exhaust where the oven outtake is. Because instead of having an exhaust over the food, it would just be more on the same plane as the food. Its also nice to not have the fan on because its so loud when Im cooking and I feel like Im in a wind tunnel. But other than those, the functionality of the stove is quite useful. The dual oven is also pretty nice but its cavity cant fit a turkey. You have the three-inch roasting pin, the elevation to that and then you have the bird which has a big breadth to it so Im not able to put it in the oven. But, for the most part, its pretty nice with the conduction and all those features. Then, we have an industrial professional grade, so its raised off the floor a good three inches. You could use that to gain more cavity space. In addition, we have a little warming oven to the side and the width of that is too narrow but the height on it is perfect. I would like it a little bit wider for most dishes and sheet pans.I think its very reliable and very consistent. However, my husband said that if he had his wishes, he wouldnt buy a Viking range again, but he doesnt cook and he doesnt get into the kitchen at all. I think its because its such a big piece of equipment but the actual components of it are very small. Wolf is what he really liked and the dial controls are a lot more flexible based on what youre cooking and the cavity is much bigger. But I would say some positives with Viking is that the cooktop space of the range is very open. I have a lot of big pans but Im able to put two big pans side-by-side without having problems. Also, I can put a small pan on top and not feel like its being swallowed up by the burner.

The fridge has been great except for this freezer function thing. It was kind of upsetting considering how much money the refrigerator cost. You think theyd work that out before it got to me. I would recommend it, but Id tell others about the icemaker issue. Other than that, the Viking looks amazing and the overall quality is great. I like the metal functions. The inside of the doors are not plastic so they’re cleaner. What I like the most is that somehow my food lasts longer. The refrigerator has doors that did not line up properly from the time it was received brand new. Viking already replaced the door on the frig side, and they have sent out techs to fix the alignment problem, and they sent their head guy. None of these efforts fixed the problem. Viking replaced the motherboard on the refrigerator too. The shelves and doors and drawers all have broken multiple times. Food freezes, milk freezes, we have wasted thousands in spoiled food because of this faulty refrigerator. Viking is now pulling the it is out of warranty game although they promised me they would extend the warranty since they wanted me to allow them to fix the original Pro Series Refrig when they should have replaced the lemon appliance from the start. Dont trust them. Make them put it in writing. Better yet, dont let them constantly repair their junk, and make you live through inconvenience in a kitchen you paid $25k for their top of the line Pro Series. Insist on a refund or new replacement, otherwise you will be constantly living with techs and once the warranty expires they will say you are all on your own.Viking replaced the double ovens, and the two dishwashers. Amazing no more problems and no service calls since the original junk was removed from my home. It should be noted that we replaced the dishwashers with LG, and no problems. In fact our CA home has Sub Zero, Fisher & Paykel and Miele, and they are all twice the age of this Viking junk that is in our AZ home and no problems. We also have Kitchen Aid in our TX home and no problems. Our Viking problems over the past 3 years since building our new home has caused huge inconvenience, and the problems are obviously correlated to the poor quality control that allowed such defective appliances to be sold. As with all the other Viking problems, once the original appliance has been removed and a different one installed, we have zero service calls. Why would Viking Customer Service fight me on this? Viking had a great rep who did such a good job of trying to correct the problems with all of their other appliances, yet they now will not acknowledge the multiple times their techs have been out and in fact they recently stated there has only been one functional service call. Apparently Viking does not keep good records or they dont consider replacing an entire door, or replacing the motherboard, or replacing cracked drawers, or fixing a constant alarm, or fixing a freezing of milk problem, or replacing cracked shelves, or replacing broken rollers, etc to be functional service calls. If Viking will live up to their commitments they made to me I will gladly let other consumers know but as of this writing they are ignoring me and leaving me with a broken refrigerator, one that was broken from day one, and hiding behind a warranty expiration date. I called who they claim is the head of all customer service, but she would not speak with me and the receptionist told me someone else is actually the head for my region. I do not want to speak with a regional head, as this is a matter that Vikings Chief Quality Officer needs to be made aware of. Viking if you care about your customers you will have someone contact me immediately to remedy this horrible situation.

When we did a complete remodel of our kitchen in 2018 we purchased Viking range top, downdraft vent & dual wall ovens. Viking had a promotion going where they threw in the dishwasher. The dishwasher stopped working in late January 2019, about 8 months after installation. We called the Viking authorized appliance repair company. They sent a service tech out 8 days later. He informed us the dishwasher had a bad water pump and circuit board. Told us it would take a week or two to get replacement parts. Never heard back so after two weeks I called the service center and was informed the parts would be in late March which means were out of a dishwasher for over 2 months.I am a general contractor with over 40 years in the business and have never experienced a dishwasher failure. I guess that is why Viking is giving them away! I may go ahead and purchase a Miele and throw this Viking unit out. I dont know how Viking can justify two month wait times for parts. Im really happy that it wasnt the cooktop or oven with a problem but now wondering if we do have an issue with either of those how long will it take to get parts.

Also, the private place I bought the range from was not that great. They didnt advise me properly that with the microwave above the range, the heat from the range would eventually get the microwave digital reading to fail. The hood is inside the microwave and now, Im having trouble with it. But Im not gonna replace it with the same thing. So then, I would have to get a whole new configuration. Nevertheless, I would suggest my range to anyone. Ive already told a friend about it and my friend bought the same one.

Viking has not been supportive at all and neither has Ferguson from where I purchased it. If a company sells a product, you would think you would have backup, especially since the appliances are so expensive. I have had problems with my Viking stove - wont lock. Problems with my under counter ice maker, problems with my wine cooler and problems with my stove. Viking had been recommended by several people including our son and daughter-in-law who had one for a long time. The range we received over two years ago turned out to be just froth with a series of problems and we had various Viking repair out there. We received a factory replacement about two months ago and theres been one little igniter issue. But that was fixed and were back on board again. If it wasnt for the repairmen who knew our problem, we still wouldnt have one. We would have thrown it away. It was terrible. We just plainly could not continue with a device that was so unpredictable. The oven knobs got incredibly hot and the fan was really noisy. And it repeatedly would shut itself off. I would never buy a Viking stove again. And the one we have now is working much better. It shut itself off, but it was the igniter and the repairman fixed it. But the knobs dont get hot and the fan is extremely quiet. And thats so much nicer than we the one we had that was extremely noisy which almost shake the house.Viking made some changes with their service and repair facility and model. They went to an outside supplier that made multiple visits but had no knowledge of Viking as far as training. But when we finally got to the Viking employee that takes care of the State of Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, he has been great. If it wasnt for him, we probably wouldnt have that stove anymore. We went through a lot and there was not a lot of support from Viking. I started keeping a log on Microsoft Word and its now over eight pages. And of all the various different calls, their replies, the kept emails that are incredible. But anyway, its just been a long journey. You got more than what you want to know.I went on Facebook at one time on their website to say how much trouble I had had and they replied with, Oh, well call your Viking such and such. We dont want this to happen. But it didnt do any good.

I bought a Viking dishwasher in 11/2009. A year and a half into owning this, the racks rusted and dishwasher needed some major service. Four years into ownership, racks rusted again and the control panel had to be replaced because the dishwasher would not run past 5-10 minutes and would blink fill error according to service person. This happened on Christmas morning with a house full of company. Then in 3/2013, the drain pump failed. Part was ordered. The service person had to pull dishwasher out of its space and then realized it would take at least 3 hours to repair, costing upwards of $300. We had already spent that much in previous repairs. So a $2,000 dishwasher less than 5 years old is going to the junk pile! Also, I contacted Viking customer service with no response from them to provide an explanation or help! Unacceptable from a supposedly big name quality product supplier! Quality rating is zero!

Have a VCSB5482DSS which replaced a VCSB48OSS. Same problems. Its a nightmare. It leaked from a part that I had to identify then the pan constantly overflows because the heating element doesnt work to evaporate the water and the ice maker doesnt work. Viking gave me a half priced new refrigerator replacement. It was still $6000 plus. THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS!!! NIGHTMARE. NEVER BUY A VIKING REFRIGERATOR.

Our order, which was installed in Dec. 2016, included a 7 series propane cook top, 5 series oven, 3 series upgrade dish washer, 48 side by side refrigerator, and 950 cfm downdraft vent system. The washer has been the most disappointing appliance of the lot. It has less capacity inside than our previous Kenmore washer and weve had to replace the racks due to a binding problem. There is also an intermittent problem with the control panel on the washer. On the cook top, the small burner does not light reliably and the design of the cook top makes cleanup a real chore after every use. The performance of the cook top, oven, and refrigerator is great other than the problems mentioned.
