What is this big magnet in the Samsung washer?
Posted On: July 10, 2023

A few months after I bought this Samsung front load washer (Model: WF45T6000AW), I started to hear this loud noise when it goes to the spin cycle.

A found a pile of corse dust under the dryer, thought it was just some dirt I brought in.

I googled this and somehow realized maybe I didn't calibrate the dryer the I did.

The noise sort of went away after that but still persisted.

Last month, I moved to my new house and a giant magnet piece that's covered with a plastic cover fell off from the washer after I got it out from the U-Haul trailer.

Then all things started to make sense.

Maybe Samsung uses this to balance the washer since it wasn't calibrated at first(maybe) this thing started to hit the chamber and make a pile of corse dust , the movement in the trailer probably was the last straw broke the camels back.

The washer still works, it just makes a lot of noise without this thing.

The question is, what do I do next? The dryer was brought two years ago so I doubt Samsung would fix it for free.

If I need to replace this myself, what part do I buy?

Question from user PhotojournalistLoud at Appliances at reddit.

Answer:

I would suggest going full Karen on Samsung for this one.

I've been on calls for these units over 1 year and they eventually cover them after a visual inspection.
