Right after the manufacturer’s warranty of exactly 2 years expired, our Amana Refrigerator broke before the end of the following year. Oh, did I mention we bought it brand new from the showroom floor at Home Depot in Hilo, Hawaii? Now it runs all the time on the freezer side and the refrigerator side does not get cold at all. Ice forms in the rectangle box that is located inside the refrigerator section and no cold air from the “run always” freezer-side comes into the refrigerator. That poor design is how it is supposed to keep your refrigerated food cold. Poor design. What isnt, these days? So here we are, spent $800 for this thing and it has lasted 2 years. Now I have to spend $300 to get it fixed. Meanwhile, until we can just come up with an extra $300 to do that, we have to rent a refrigerator - another $68 a month. Now, isnt this fun? On top of that, it was evidently not working properly for about 2 months until one day I began vomiting from bad food. Not fun either. So what is a consumer to do? We are at the mercy of cheaply made and poorly designed shoddy craftsmanship and materials made by companies that just dont give a you know what anymore. They only want to make more profits out of greed and screw the consumer. They know you need these products so they can literally get away with doing whatever they want. I wonder if any really great person is going to once again build the real McCoy of Wash Machines and Refrigerators that are built to last and do! It can be done, it is just not being done and no one seems to care. Have we become so apathetic to accept this in our lives that we are the sheep they speak of? There are no choices. Oh, you think because something is stainless steel and looks pretty and shiny it is good quality? Stainless steel is only on the outside! Underneath, it still rusts! We live by the ocean in Hawaii where things are not hermetically sealed like on the mainland where houses are all closed up and furnaces run all day and night. And the Stainless steel here still rusts and they tell you right away that rust is not included in any warranty! Oh, let’s see who is Amana made by? Whirlpool I think and I am not surprised.Remember in the old days when all the washers at laundry mats were Whirlpools and they worked? Well, dont buy one these days. See my post on the one we just got! For people who say, Well, just buy the warranties they sell when you buy the item.” Yeah, and so you really are spending an additional $300 for the product, which will then last 3 more years from the day you bought it. Who is getting screwed here? - The customer either way. Remember when you bought an appliance and had it the whole time you lived in your house? Remember the Maytag repairman? And did you know your icemaker is not included in your warranty? Nope, you just have to pay for that - an additional $300-$400. Is everyone just going to roll over and accept buying a major appliance for $800 and having it last 2 years?

First and foremost DO NOT PURCHASE AMANA anything!!! I made that huge mistake when purchasing my oven and bottom freezer refrigerator in 2004. Compressor was dead within 5yrs of purchase. The stove was and is a nightmare!! Of course this stove is no longer made and good luck trying to find parts. This stove retail was approximately 1100.00 middle of the road price but for all the error codes it throws out, it makes one think how dumb was I to even THINK about buying this model or brand!!Replaced two oven sensors, temp regulators now door does not shut correctly therefore heat escapes from oven and get ready because when that happens the timer/clock control board melts!!! Really???!!! AMANA is blind to this and will ignore all of your complaints!!! You might as well just hold a match to your money when it comes to AMANA!! One will have difficulty finding parts for a discontinued model on anything but this is how AMANA conducts business!!! I totally understand with time all things need to be replaced and simply run its course. However, 4 to 5 yrs life expectancy is max on all AMANA anything! Just tell yourself AMANA is no longer being made and save yourself the aggravation.

Was purchasing my first washer & dryer and, quite frankly, looking for best value I could find. Bought Amana washer and dryer and while I dont do tons of laundry, they have both been great. Especially like that the washer has sensing to determine optimal water level. Only thing Im not crazy about, and this is nit-picking, there is no buzzer to indicate that a load is done.

Gentlemen I buy all my appliances on July 2013 on Home Depot and in Oct 2014 my washer machine does not work. I call the company and they replace the computer, now 6 month later all the paint was rust and peeling. My refrigerator since the first day the Home Depot installs never delivery water on the door, and now the icemaker water conduct is freezing every two days and dont make ice. I will have a very bad experience with your products and never ever will buy again.

I purchased this fridge 9/2010, and the compressor is already shot. I see from other complaints that compressors have been a problem, but Amana Whirlpool has done nothing to help out customers (unless they agreed to the extortion of the extended warranty). I guess Amana Whirlpool is only for people who can afford to buy major appliances every year or pay huge repair bills as soon as the product is out of warranty, or pay for protection (does this remind anyone else of bribing cops to do their job?). My previous fridge was an Amana. my next will not be.Ive lost work time, food, and money. Its odd when the automated recording asks if youve had the product for longer than 12 months, and then asks if you purchased the extended warrant. And you said yes to the first and no to the second, why dont they just disconnect you? They wont do a thing to stand behind their products, even when they know that a less-than-two-year-old fridge should not need a new compressor. They have no pride in their product (I see why now), and they surely have no concern with customer service or satisfaction.

Warning. This fridge stopped working after 2.5 years with no warranty after 1 year and thrown out. Before this past weekend, I would have rated this appliance high. We bought this fridge for my mother-in-law who is in her mid 90s. It was the perfect size and worked well without any issues whatsoever....until it just stopped working without notice of any kind suggesting there was a problem. We called for warranty and was directed to Whirlpool for service. Apparently model # ART318FFDW wears numerous different brands including Amana, Maytag, Kenmore, IKEA and more. They advised the appliance only came with a 1-year warranty. So we called an independent service guy to service it only to be told that this is a common problem with this model and it would cost over $700 to repair it (they retail in Canada between $7-800 new), advising it was not worth repairing because there was a risk of it occurring again. He provided a report (see photo for screen shot) and suggested we call the manufacturer back as they will be aware of this problem and there may even be a recall. We did just that and they denied any knowledge of problems with this model and there were no recalls issued. And because we did not buy the additional warranty, there was no recourse. I could appreciate having to pay to fix our fridge, since there was no additional warranty, but I was certainly not expecting a 2.5 year old fridge to be unfixable. That the parts would cost as much as replacing the fridge is unacceptable. To make matters worse, Whirlpool offered us an apology with a loyalty REBATE of 15% if we purchased a replacement of any model within the Whirlpool brands, even off a discounted price. Though we were not going to purchase the same model, we thought this was at least some form of recourse and reluctantly purchased another fridge. When I filed for the claim with the code they emailed me, the code was rejected saying Code was already redeemed. I had just got the code a day earlier as this was an emergency replacement purchase, and the code was not working. I reached out to Whirlpool by replying to their email which was a no response email address. I then sent a message through their contact form and many days later still no response. If I dont receive one by the end of the week Im going through the pain of returning it and replacing it with a different brand.Long story short, I dont recommend this model nor do I recommend the Whirlpool brand because of the poor response to a lemon of a purchase.

I purchased an Amana refrigerator about 2 1/2 years ago. Right after the 1 year warranty ran out, I started having problems. A strong nasty burning chemical smell was coming from the appliance and making me and everything in the house stink. Plus, the smell was making me sick, irritating my nose and eyes. The repairman replaced the relay on the compressor and told me that would take care of the problem. Well, 1 year later, we are experiencing the very same problem. The smell is so bad, I am going to have to unplug the appliance and store all the food at a friends until the repairman can get here next week. It is getting into my hair and clothes, so that I smell it all day when I am at work. I will never purchase an Amana appliance again.

I currently own an Amana French door refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher. I have had these products for a little over a year and the warranty on these products is a year. Recently, my Amana dishwasher model # ADB1500AWS3 panel went out. I have used this product about 20 times. I contacted Amana customer service and they said that even though the warranty expired, they would cover the part and I would have to pay for service and labor. With that understanding, I arranged service on the dishwasher. The repair guy replaced the part for $150.00 and I got a total bill for $243.00 for service, labor, and part. I contacted Amana to ask them what the next step was to get reimbursed for the $150.00. Well long story short, Amana backed out of their word and said that they were not going to cover the part now, even though a supervisor orally agreed to cover the cost of the part. I lost a lot of trust and respect for Amana and their products today. I will never purchase another Amana product again.

The interior paint is peeling off in big flakes now. Before they were small, but a large part of the paint on the bottom of the oven is gone. I have contacted Maytag Corp. and was told to call a service person. From what I have seen online, this is an inherent problem with this product and the company should issue a recall and make an effort to fix it at no expense to the owner. The microwave still operates perfectly, but the fear of fire or paint in food prevents me from using it.

To apparently repair the controller board, it will cost me $232.00. Purchased a new refrigerator that didnt work from day one. After visits from two different repairmen, we are now required to transport the fridge to the next town over so that the compressor can be replaced. After several months of dealing with their help line, I feel that it is ludicrous that we are still without a fridge and are required to arrange for this transportation ourselves. This is in a rental unit that we are unable to rent out because of no fridge. We will now be forced to purchase a new fridge because who knows how long this repair will take. I guarantee it will not say Amana or any related product name on it. GE is looking pretty good. As a side point, we have purchased at least 60 appliances from them in the last year and they still arent willing to go to do anything else for us. Cant imagine the average consumer getting any kind of relief from them.

We purchased an Amana washing machine. I noticed that there was a bad odor in my utility room that was so strong it even came out in the other parts of the house at times. We had no idea where the odor was coming from. We check the septic system thinking maybe that may be where it was coming from and even had the septic pumped out. Still the odor kept coming and we could not figure out where the odor was coming from. Then we noticed that the water was not draining all the way out of the washing machine. It just sits in there because it does not spin out all of the water. I tried to get repairs done on the machine but they would not do anything because they said my warranty had run out. I am very unhappy with this product.

In late 2017 we purchased an Amana Electric stove top, oven and dishwasher, a Whirlpool vent hood and a garbage disposal. To date (3-1-2019) the only thing that has worked properly is the garbage disposal. These were not top of the line, but were not bottom end either. The dishwasher never worked and the motor had to be replaced right after it was installed. The stove top had a burner that didnt work, and the burners wobble. The oven also never worked correctly, and they had to replace the sensor, element and core shortly after it was installed. Now just a little over a year later the vent hood motor is having problems, you turn it on and the speed goes up and down by itself. I called the customer experience line, and of course since it is just now out of warranty they will not do anything about it. We bought, and had all of the appliances installed from a reputable dealer who has been in business many years, and we were happy with their service, but I will never buy Amana or Whirlpool again. Also a word of caution to anyone who has young children, the Amana electric oven has a dangerous design flaw. The air in the oven circulates and blows hot air out the vent at the bottom. If any young children were to touch this it would burn their fingers. It is a shame that Amana/Whirlpool obviously has no quality control and uses shoddy parts. Luckily for us we purchased an independent warranty plan for the stove top, oven, and dishwasher, as Im quite sure Whirlpool warranty would be as lousy as their products.

The Amana gas range was installed new in late 2013. The stovetop flames do not have enough adjustment, either the flame is too high or too low, theres hardly any just right flame settings. We already had to replace the igniter for the oven. That detent position for the oven door where you can leave it cracked open a little and failed within a month or so. I would certainly never buy another one.

Not even 2 months ago, I bought an Amana Washer and Dryer at Lowe’s Sudbury Ontario. Five days ago the washer pump is running constantly and does not complete the cycle. I called customer service on Thursday December 4th 2014 and was told that the technician will come on Monday Dec 8th between 8am and 4pm. Since they did not give me a specific time, I have had to take a vacation day from my work. Monday morning I had a message on my voice mail that they had overbooked appointments for repair and they could not make it on Monday. I called customer service again and ask why suddenly the repair technicians were overbooked when I made an appointment through Amana 4 days prior. I was told they were sorry, but they could not do anything about it. The only thing they could do was to book another appointment for Thursday December11th, between 8 am and 4 pm. This means taking another vacation day to be at home, waiting and hoping they will not cancel again. It is not only that Amana is selling a washer that is broken after 6 weeks, but they are contracting to repair companies that are not reliable. Like always, the company is good till some problems occurs, then you see their true colors. If I could return the product, I would, but because the warranty to return a product is only 30 days, I am stuck with this washer and most importantly unreliable service department. I would never recommend this product to anyone. Not pleased at all!!!!DEC. 19, 2014 UPDATE: Today we are December 18, 2014 - 3 weeks after my first call to customer service of Amana. Finally the technician came today with the part. I was relieved that the problem would be solved finally. No such luck, the part the technician brought was the wrong one. He said that they had ordered the right part, but the company send them the wrong one. I called the customer service of Amana again, and ask for an explanation. They told me that mistakes happens. When I try to make the order for the right part, I was told that the part I need is back order, and it could take a couple of weeks or more to be delivered. I contacted Lowes in Sudbury ON, where I bought the Amana washer and dryer, looking for some solution, but the salesperson at Lowes told me that they cannot do anything to help me, because after 30 days, my chance to return the product had expired. There was nothing they could do, but it was up to me to contact Amana customer service. Over the years, I upgraded my appliances a couple of times, but never ever experienced such a crappy product and a lousy customer service like Amana. I cannot understand why a store like Lowes would be selling such junk. Now Christmas and New Year is coming and I have to go to the Laundromat. Because I live in a small village, the closest Laundromat is a 30 minutes drive. I have to go through all this aggravation, when I have a 2 months old new Amana washer in my basement, that does not work! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all... and There will be a Part 3.

With the electronic controls, I must fight with the stupid machine to get it to rinse or spin as needed, fill as required, or whatever (wash really dirty gardening clothes well or wash hockey equipment). I bought an Amana dishwasher model ADB1500AWW3 in early 2011 from Home Depot. I had originally chosen another brand, but the sales clerk told me that the Amana would last longer than the one I had chosen. What she did not tell me was that the control panel would not last one year. A couple of cycles, it stopped working early on, but being I didnt use those much I thought I would see what happened. Then it stopped working altogether. I called Home Depot and was told that being it was over one year they could not do anything about it. I will never waste my money on Amana products again.

Bought my Amana top-loading washer in April 2014. Most of my laundry isnt deeply soiled, so didnt think much of it for a while. However, becoming more obvious now that my clothes are not getting clean enough. I garden and have a dog, so sometimes get socks soiled and dirt on clothes when dog jumps up. My whites are not white and the soiled areas dont come out. I had my previous Whirlpool washer over 20 years and didnt have this problem. Have checked the manual to be sure Im using right detergent and loading the washer correctly, but hasnt solved the problem. I liked the price, capacity, and no-frills model of the washer I bought, but not happy with the cleaning results. Dont want to have to buy another one, and always thought Amana was a reliable brand, but I personally could not recommend to others.

I find it especially appalling that the yellowing of course occurs outside of any warranty period = Amana is all about profit at the expense of the customer... short sighted, penny-wise and pound-foolish for such an established brand. After moving in to a new home and seeing a brand new stove installed, I was excited to get cooking. I noticed that the stove grates were bent from the middle (the grates are long and the front burner and back burner are connected on the same grate). I didnt think this would be an issue because maybe the pans/pots I use would be heavy enough to compress the grates down. I was wrong to think that and the pots/pans will slide when put on the grates because of how they are angled. I have spilled a full pan of oil (luckily not heated to a dangerous temp yet) when the pan was placed squarely in the middle of the burner and it just slid forward and off the stove top.Amana was called to try and get replacements for the brand new appliance but they told us that the bend in the grates is on purpose and they will not be fixing the danger their appliance puts us in. I now can only use the back burners (one of which is very small) or I run the risk of hurting myself with hot falling pots and pans. They are confident this is normal and are fine with the dangers. Do not buy from Amana as they will sell you a dangerous product.

We have an Amana refrigerator model ARB2557CSR. We have had it for 8 years. We have had a few repairs over the years, but last night took the wind out of all of us that witnessed the door fall off the hinge and break the contents that were on the door. If anyones foot would have been in the area, it would had sliced it off or crushed terribly. The door was opened and for unknown reason, dropped off onto our slate floor. If our grandson would have been near, he could have been crushed. I checked the hinges and sprockets, and it still didnt make sense. After reading other remarks about doors in consumer reviews, I am one to be added to the list. This door was one large door, not double door. It was heavy. Please be aware of this defect. I am looking at other models, yet similar malfunctions have occurred that reviews have stated. Really a frightening experience. We will be looking at other models, yet not really confident about any. Hope this helps.

6/4/2015 - The lid on my less-than-2-month-old Amana washer breaks, and I call customer service. The rep is extremely apologetic and tells me someone will be out on 6/9/2015 to fix it and that they will call the day prior to confirm. 6/8/2015 - Sadly, no call is ever received. 6/9/2015 - I call the service company to inquire as to whether anyone is coming to look at my washer. Their response was, Nope, we were given the wrong phone number by Amana, so when we couldnt reach you, we had to cancel. I then call Amana back, confirm that they do in fact have the wrong phone number, correct that issue (or so I thought) and try to get another appointment scheduled. After two hours of stubborn resistance, I manage to get an appointment scheduled for 6/10/2015.6/10/2015 - Repairman looks at my washer, and after five minutes, pinpoints the issue and tells me hes going to need to order a part. He then says that he should have no trouble getting the part by 6/12/2015. 6/12/2015 - The day comes and goes without incident. 6/15/2015 - I call the service repair company who tells me that the part is on back order and wont be available until at least 6/30/2015. Later, I call Amana yet again, correct my phone number for the second time (see, I was getting back to that) and try to see if theres another resolution. The customer service rep I am speaking with tells me, it is what it is, and that this is the best she can do. I ask to speak to her supervisor, who I am then transferred to, who tells me that he, in fact, cannot do anything to help expedite the process either, but that someone might be calling me in 3-5 business days to let me know about the part.At this point I ask, So youve made a defective product, incorrectly recorded my information at least twice, caused me to miss one service appointment due to negligence and have yet to accept any responsibility for the situation at hand... How is this an acceptable resolution? After a pause, he says,so yeah, in like three to five business days, someone might be calling you about that part... Dumbfounded, I hung up and rage-devoured a cheeseburger to help me cope with my lack of progress, ironically spilling ketchup on my pants in the process. I might be able to at least attempt to get the stain out in somewhere around 3-5 business days.

I purchased an Amana Refrigerator Model; #ASS2222FEQ with Serial#1156842NA on 3/25/2008. On 7/13/2009, second incident of freezer not working in a refrigerator not yet 1-1/2 years old. I called 877-342-1446. Frantic that I was going to lose a freezer of food, I was advised by Kim that a repairman would arrive at 7/15 between 8am-12n. I called 800-628-5782, which was another number I had for Amana and spoke with Jamila. After explaining the problem, Jamila advised me that there was no service call request in the computer, so she initiated and advised that a repairman would be here on Wednesday, 7/15/09. I did tell Jamila that a second freezer failure in less than a year is totally unacceptable.7/15/09, a repairman arrived right around 8am, discovered some problem with paperwork; I called 877-342-1446 and spoke with Mark, who was able to advise me that I had called the manufacturer and the extended warranty numbers advised are separate and do not have shared computer programs. Mark said that he could take care of it, gave me a confirmation number to the repairman and was going to Fax sheets to the local office. On 7/16/2009, the local repair business called me to say that Maytag Dependability Plus was refusing to pay the bill because they authorized another company for the repair and that company called after the first repairman had left. Amana Dependability Plus will not change the work order from A&E Factory Service (who did not come or perform any service) to Convenient Appliance Service, who came and rendered service. Jim, at the 877-3542-1446, would not give me the names of any supervisor nor would he transfer me to anyone else. He said no one there has any more authority than he had. I then called the 800-628-5782 and asked for the name of the president of company. Lisa did not know the name of the Amana president, and said all she could do was to transfer me to Dependability Plus, because I have an extended warranty, endless, repetitive cycle. I advised all parties that I had not realized I was speaking with two different departments, but since the service was Ok’d, I do not understand the big deal to cancel the work order to A&E Factory Service and transfer it to Convenient Appliance Service. Oh no, this can’t possibly be done! Not only do I apparently have a faulty piece of equipment, this is a company dedicated to providing customer frustration. This could have been so easily solved, but agents have dug their heels in, and will be damned if they will help the customer. This is the very last Whirlpool/Amana product I will purchase. Remember, this is the second time the freezer stopped freezing in less than 1-1/2years. Customer service is a joke and we wonder why jobs go overseas? I am stuck with a $97 bill, my freezer problem is still unresolved and I have wasted an entire day. My B/P is soaring. I regret ever purchasing an Amana product and certainly an extended warranty.

I just purchased Amana Dishwasher Model # ADB1700ADS through HD online. As noted by another reviewer, this model has a serious engineering flaw. It does not have an exterior handle attached to the body of the door. The model has been designed so that you are forced to pull on the underside of the black plastic control panel. You can see the panel flex outward (more than .25 inches) under the pressure needed to open the door. I tried opening the door by pulling on the outer door corners and from the top edge without success. There is absolutely no question the plastic control panel will break due to material fatigue - and it will break either fast or slow depending on how often you pull on it and how hard you pull. I recommend you buy your own stainless steel door handle from any appliance parts store and install it yourself. It will cost you about $30. Amana may have saved themselves $10 (for this same part) but they will take a ding to their reputation and have a lot of unhappy customers in the future. If Amana took into consideration that in buying a dishwasher, it is not just the cost of the dishwasher for the buyer - it is also the cost of time lost from work waiting for an install that never happens within the time frame given, install fees, taxes, delivery and haul away fees. There is a lot of time, effort, and money involved in buying a dishwasher. So much so, that the buyer would not blink to pay that $10 with an upcharge to prevent the destruction of the control panel of a daily use item they dont want to have to repair or replace for years to come. As others have noted, this particular failure will not be covered under the manufacturers warranty. Otherwise, the dishwasher is noted to work properly, is better suited for a smaller family, holds fewer dishes than others of the same size, has a very long cycle, and is hoped to be of similar quality to that Amana has been noted for in the past -- with the exception of this one very serious defect. We dont really know about the quality, because it has not been out long enough to have proven itself. I would have given the dishwasher a 2.5, a 2 is too low and a 3 is too high, considering the time, effort and expense I have put into purchasing it, the day lost for install, and finding and installing a handle to safeguard the most expensive component to repair - the control panel. Once the control panel goes, it will be cheaper to buy another dishwasher than to repair it, IMO.

I had an Amana gas stove/oven, and replaced approximately 4 thermostats over 5 years. I decided to get rid of it and get a new stove oven. When I went to buy the new oven, I thought maybe my Amana oven was somehow a lemon. Knowing that Amana used to mean quality, I stupidly bought another Amana gas stove/oven, which is a better model, and now more digital, and have had it since last fall. I used it the other day, and the same thing happened as it did with the other one I had, when the temperature reaches 400. All of a sudden, it ignores the 400 and keeps rising. I only knew it was happening, because my food started to smell too hot, and when I looked at the oven thermometer I have inside, it said 600 degrees. I hate that I cannot trust Amana anymore, and would really like to return this product and buy anything other than Amana.

We bought an Amana Dishwasher (division of Whirlpool) Model ADB1400PYW in March of 2014. This is just to let consumers know that they should check to make sure new parts are in a new appliance. In February of 2016 we had to replace the control panel board because it was not completing a full cycle and the Clean Light would blink. We did the troubleshooting first before calling our repairman. When he removed the old control board he noticed something odd. He showed me and my husband a little sticker on the part. It said RECONDITIONED. Why was a reconditioned part in a new appliance? No wonder it broke down after not even two years of use. I called Whirlpool and they had no explanation and of course could not offer me any reimbursement because we put a replacement in. Whatever. So beware when buying an Amana appliance or any Whirlpool for that matter.

It has a bottom freezer which is easy to get to & arrange. Also with an automatic ice maker. The refrigerator shelves are glass so you aren't likely to "lose" items. Shelves in door are adjustable to fit any need. Everything comes out so it is easy to clean. Outside is also easy to clean & no streaking. I Love It!!!

Purchased fridge about 2 weeks ago. My main issue is that it is very noisy. The compressor and fan are too noisy. For the price I paid I expected a quiet fridge. If it wasnt such a pain to take it back (I brought it home myself) I would return it. I am going to contact Amana and go from there. I am very disappointed.

Amana Refrigerator, Not Good After 6 Years: We purchased an Amana bottom freezer refrigerator, model#ABB2227DES, serial#10253964EP at Sears approximately 6 years ago. We have had numerous issues with the refrigerator starting just after the 12-month warranty ran out. At one point, I paid $300 for an extended warranty. I had to have more repairs on it and was told by several technicians that the compressor would be going and it won’t be worth paying for the repair (roughly 50% of the $1300 that we paid for the fridge). At this point, including the purchase and repairs of the refrigerator, we are over the $2000 mark. Again, the fridge just died and we have been told that the compressor is gone and it would not be worth it to fix unless Whirlpool agrees to pay the repairs. I would like Whirlpool to pay for the repairs of this refrigerator or provide a comparable refrigerator, or I will contact my own attorney in regard to this.

My refrigerator had stopped working. I called Amana and gave flamingo appliances to look at it. Technician said that water got into the lines and the refrigerator could not be fixed because of rust. I dont know how rust could form in an aluminum line and combine with the refrigerant. I have a service contract with Amana and they refused to honor it, because they said rust is not covered. I do not believe the technician because he did not look too hard and try different things. He was in my house about 15 minutes and called to Amana. I called Amana and they told me they would not even reimburse me for spoiled food because rust damage is not covered. I have time left on my contract and they would not pro-rate it either and want to charge me for the service call. I have to purchase a new refrigerator, but not anything that Amana makes.

I bought an Amana fridge with our tax money just over a year ago. Its was a hard decision to spend over $1,000 on a fridge, but here we are just over a year later and the crisper drawer has crumbled and disintegrated on the slider edge. Bad design and bad choice of materials. Amana, of course, says the drawer is not covered under any warranty. They want well over $100 for a new drawer. That’s 10% of the original price. To hell with Amana. I won’t make that mistake again. Pass the word: Don’t buy Amana! I’m stacking fruit/veggies on top of the bottom drawer for now. I’m searching the web in vain to find a cheaper drawer. I’m really, really pissed off!

I have a Whirlpool GS395LEHS range/oven that is 14 years old. It was only used regularly for about 5 of those years, then as an extra oven for holidays. A code appeared recently that meant the membrane is bad. Cant use any oven function now. Tried to get a replacement, but Whirlpool doesnt make them anymore. So my range is now junk. Looked online at Amana ranges and found many negative reports about them. Looked a little more and discovered that Amana and Whirlpool are one in the same. I will not purchase either of them as a replacement. Im not mad that the membrane went out after 14 years, I am mad as all get out that I cant purchase the $32 part to fix it. I hope Whirlpool/Amana execs get it through their thick skulls that consumers want products that can be repaired. If they want to put their noses up in the air and continue as they are, they can watch GEs sales go up. GE does carry parts.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH AMANA AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM!!! I have owned Amana central air conditioning systems in a number of homes, and always thought they were of the highest quality. In fact, I installed a central system at our summer beach house, which operated reliably and without any problems whatsoever in a high salt-air, highly corrosive environment, and it served us well for more than a decade. As a result, when we were building our new house in 2009-10, I specified five Amana systems for our 7500 square foot home. WHAT A MISTAKE! This summer, we have learned that three of the five evaporator coils are leaking, and further learned that the HVAC subcontractor NEVER REGISTERED the warranty with Amana. Simple fix, right? Just call the Customer Service department and explain the problem. No... the Amana organization has totally ignored us, in what may be the poster child for horrible customer service. They have stonewalled us, and have not replied to phone calls and emails. Their local distributor has refused to give us the name of their local rep in an effort to find someone who cares about our problem. No help, no solution. I have to fix the problem and pay for what should have been warranted repairs out of my own pocket, because the cost of the service calls coupled of an electricity bill that has skyrocketed while trying to get help from Amana has me with no choice but to fix it myself. If you buy an Amana air conditioning system and need factory support, forget it. You are on your own, and they will not stand by their products!!!

I have now found out it needs $250 worth of repairs because the computer board has gone out and it was not going into the defrost cycle. As a result the bottom freezer was frosted up and the refrigerator was not working properly. Yes the repairs are cheaper than a new refrigerator, but I am still disappointed. This was not a cheap unit. I have had Amana appliances in the past and was pleased with them which is why I purchased this refrigerator. Beware the Amana company. I dont like to give bad reviews to companies but the time has come. Our church bought a new side by side Amana refrigerator/freezer in August. It worked until the middle of December and then it started warming up. It was turned up to the coldest settings and still continued to not do its job. Frozen foods are cold but not frozen. January 3rd I called Amana and a technician came out on the 14th. He said, It needs fixed but I dont have to tools to do it.About 10 days later another tech came out and said, It needs a new part but I dont have one with me. The next week he came and replaced the part but it still didnt work. I called Amana again and told them since its still under warranty, we want a new appliance. I was told they dont do that unless a technician comes 2 times and he has to say it doesnt work. We had 3 visits. She said she would send out their top technician because he would know what is going on. Apparently the others didnt. He was supposed to come on Thursday but they called and canceled because they had scheduled the wrong technician. Rescheduled for today, Monday February 25 but cancelled because their truck broke down. We are finding it very inconvenient to have an appliance that hasnt worked for over 2 months, wouldnt you? Now scheduled for Friday. We will see. The only help I got was when I went to the manager of Home Depot about it and he got after them about it but still far from resolved. I imagine that Amana has some good appliances and we got a lemon. The appliances are questionable but the company is terrible to deal with.

I recently moved into a new apartment and the washer and dryer had already been used by the previous tenants. I used the washer with a small load on a cold cycle, and when the load was finished, my clothes were still DRY! Some of the clothes had wet spots but for the most part, my clothes looked like someone just splashed water on them. I had to redo the cycle on a larger load setting. My clothes came out FULL of someone elses lint. The dryer. Ohhh, the dryer. I then place my linty clothes in the dryer to see if they will be removed. I do a full 60 minute cycle. I open up the dryer when it is finished and my load is warm, but still damp! After 60 minutes on hot! I have to run the dryer 4 TIMES to dry a load of laundry. Needless to say, the landlord was called and he is replacing, but God, please dont let him buy another set of Amana washer and dryer. Please!!!

I bought a new range for my daughter. We received the order, the range was working fine for about 2 days. All of a sudden the only thing that worked was when you turned the knob to high the display showed (as that had stop working as well). The element and the oven would not work and the display shut off if you moved the knob off of the High position.I called Amana and they were closed, I called Best Buy where I bought it and they sent out a replacement. Problem 1 - the replacement took 4 days due to a pandemic going on in our country, so we were not able to cook anything for 4 days! Problem 2 - the day we received the replacement, as soon as we plugged it in, it was doing the exact same thing as the last troubled machine! I call Amana, the COMPUTER guy walked through troubleshooting steps that I had already done, and then says I will send a tech out to you. Problem 3 - Said tech cannot come for 3 days! Problem 4 - my daughter and I live in 2 different states so what did Amana do? Send the tech to my house! Problem 5 - I call Amana, they apologize but tell me there are NO techs in my area to come out not even at a later date because of the pandemic.... SO WHAT exactly do they do to fix this.... Problem 6 - NOTHING besides apologize!I found out for this model there are several defects! I called Best Buy to get a replacement but DIFFERENT brand and am told by the rep I spoke to she has gotten nothing but calls about this exact model and it has defects! Long Story short... In a middle of a crisis... do not ever go with AMANA! You will be left to die of starvation as you cannot cook a single thing (we do not do microwave things, nor do we have room now in the freezer for said items as it is filled with meat to COOK)!

There were no instructions available to indicate that this stove cannot be cleaned, and the very act of lifting the top, which is not restricted in any way, breaks the tubing that houses the gas.
