We have never had a problem with the microwave. Most of our use has been heating things up. There has been a few times that our granddaughter made something else. It is lightweight. Easy to clean. Not too large or small. Fits what we use it for perfectly. Doesnt take up much room. It heats perfectly. It has been a really good microwave.

Purchased a new stainless steel 1200 watt General Electric Microwave in 2012. By 2013, the opening latch broke. They were willing to send the part as long as (I did the labor). I did the repair and put the machine back in service. At the end of 2014, an electrical storm occurred inside the unit with smoke and flames beginning within the control side of the unit. I unplugged it, let it cool, then later confirmed it was ruined. I tried consumer service again. They sent a repairman out to confirm the unit was not repairable. This time they called 2 days later and offered me a $20 coupon toward a new, retail GE microwave.Basically, they wasted my time. They should have just told me I was screwed and their units now only last 2 to 3 years, even if you buy a top end counter model. I waited at home 2 hours for this repairman to come by and several phone calls and would have more appreciated a quick answer, gotcha sucker! You bought a piece of crap GE product and youre screwed!

We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

GE factory services uses rude, discriminatory, evasive, procrastinating and unethical business practices to limit customers from claiming warranty. We have a non functioning dishwasher which is under warranty. This came as part of the appliance package given to us by the builder (Hallmark Homes) when we bought the house in December 2017. When we contacted GE customer service to let them know that the dishwasher wont work, they gave us a date after 2 weeks for sending their service professional. After 2 weeks, their service professional came in and behaved in an extremely rude and racist manner shouting at the top of his voice for the inconvenience caused to him for coming to repair the appliance. After connecting his computer to the appliance, he said it was fixed and left without even checking if the appliance was working correctly. Even after repeated requests to check the functioning of the device before leaving, he threatened to be physically violent if we still pestered him to stay. After he left, we realized that the dishwasher wasnt fixed when we ran a wash cycle. We again contacted the customer service to let them know that the issue isnt fixed and requested them to expedite things to get it fixed. They said that we will get the next date for a service appointment again after two weeks and there is nothing they could do. After living the nightmare of washing dishes for more than a month, the same service professional came in again and repeating his similar rude, racist, unethical and threatening behavior left without fixing the issue. He said that GE appliance is not owned by GE anymore and hence nobody cared about what happens to the customers. He again passed the buck to the customer service and said I needed to take up this issue with them. In this whole back and fort, we are left devastated without having our dishwasher and living the nightmare for more than a month.

My dishwasher is part of the recall due to fire hazards. Last week it began leaking. I found the leak which is a crack in the plastic basin right under the heating element. Is this connected? Dishwasher does a horrible job cleaning so I would never use the rebate to purchase a new one nor can I afford currently.

My GE DVM5140DN1BB Serial # ZS 902371B manufactured in December 2009 has stopped functioning. It looks and sounds like it is working but it will not heat. GE only guarantees their warranty for 1 year after the date of purchase. This should have been my first clue. For a fee, they will come look at it.Growing up we had an Amana Radar Range. My mom bought it in 1987. I replaced it so that I could save counter space and also that it would match my other kitchen appliances. I bought the GE microwave in May 2010. This product lasted for a total of 16 months. Ridiculous! In my opinion, big business companies no longer have to be held accountable for producing bad products. Money was lost but will never again be spent on a GE product.

I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have
I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have had. This month will be a year and a half. The oven stopped heating so being a DIY person, I pulled the oven out and took it to my workshop to see if it was something I could repair. Inside the front panel was a very helpful schematic of the whole oven. Using the troubleshooting step listed on the paper, I found that the Magnetron tube had gone out. So I went to my owners manual and found that the tube had a four-year warranty on it so I called General Electric consumer relations to have the part replaced. First I had to fight with them because they said it was only covered for a year. After about an hour and a half on the phone and giving her the publication number on the manual, she agreed that it was indeed covered for four years. So she said that she would replace the part and she would even send a technician out to install it at no charge. I was very happy at this point. She said that she would ship the part to me next day with UPS and the tech would be out the following day to replace it. So far so good, till the next day when the part did not arrive. I called back in to General Electric consumer relations and spoke with a man this time and he told me that she had canceled the order that is why I did not receive it, and he couldnt see why. So he looked at the comments she had made the day before and did see that she said she would replace it and send a tech. The tech was supposed to be here the next day and I had no part for him to install. The man said he would place the order and have it shipped to me by the next day no later than 10 a.m. and the tech would be here between 1 to 5 p.m. Great! Until the next day and again no part when they said it would be there. Again with the call only to find out that it was scheduled to arrive next day guaranteed by 7 p.m. The tech is supposed to be there with in the next few hours and I wouldnt have the part. I called Fed-Ex and sweet-talked the lady into getting a hold of her driver to see if she could get to me ASAP. Bingo, next thing you know I have the part, the tech calls and the part is replaced. Oh boy, the big gaping hole above my stove is finally going to be filled once again. (I promise I am coming to the end.) After reinstalling the oven, I found out that it was taking longer to heat than when I got it, and it has a brand new Magnetron in it.Again with the call to General Electric consumer relations to set up another tech to come out and check it out. So the following day, the same tech arrives and puts a cup of just barely cool water in it and puts it in for 30 seconds, pulls the water out and says it is working just like it is supposed to and leaves. Well, again I called General Electric consumer relations to let them know what has transpired, but this time I asked to speak with someone higher up the food chain. I then spoke to a lady and she said that she would set up another tech to come out and check it out, and if it resulted in the same way that she would replace the unit with a new one. The following day, the same tech calls me and said that the oven is working the best that it could so I should call back to consumer relations as he did and set it up for a new one to be sent in its place. So I called once again and was not able to speak with the same lady and the only thing she could do is send me a voucher for $250 laying around for a new oven, but I would have to purchase one and send the voucher in with the receipt to get a refund. I told her that I did not have a spare $250 dollars around to go buy a new oven and then wait for the refund to get to me. So I asked that she have the lady that said she would replace it to call me back to straighten this problem out. Finally the following week, the lady calls me back and said, This is the best that I can do, due to me voiding the warranty. I asked, What? She said that the tech that spoke with me said that because I had hard wired in the unit to the house wiring, it was receiving low voltage so she couldnt do any better than that. I told her that was the most asinine comment I have ever heard coming from a field tech and asked her whether he went to a school backyard Techs-r-Us. I asked if she would have the tech call me to explain. I also gave her some friendly advice that she should not use that comment to anyone else for fear of someone laughing at her. We agreed to have the voucher sent if that was the best she could do. I will not buy another GE appliance again! I have purposely not mentioned anyones name because it was the experience, not the person that I spoke with.

In 2012 we purchased a GE microwave for around $500.00. It lasted with moderate use until 2017 at which point, it almost burned our house down due to malfunctions of internal parts. After many hours on the phone and several repair visits, GE agreed to replace it. The replacement lasted until March of 2020, at which point it started tripping our breaker. I took a half day off of work waiting on a repair technician. The technician came out and replaced a switch. Two hours after he left, the microwave stopped working. I called GE back and was given another repair appointment, again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. He arrived and stated that the door of the microwave was causing it not to work and he ordered a new door.I called GE and was given another repair appointment. Again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. He arrived and replaced the door. That evening, we noticed that the internal light would not shut off when we closed the microwave door. Two days later the microwave started producing a burning smell whenever we used it.I went out and purchased a $50.00 microwave from Walmart. This experience has been beyond what is reasonable for a customer to experience. I have received numerous automated emails from GEs consumer relations department from a GE consumer relations employee that is allegedly been responsible for my case. I have never actually spoken to this person even though I was advised numerous times that she would be calling me. As of this point, I plan on never purchasing another GE product nor can I in good conscience recommend to anybody that would inquire, purchasing a GE product. The customer service I received has been bad to say the least and the product even worse.

We moved into our home just over a year ago. We replaced all of the kitchen appliances; refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher with GE slate gray appliances. This was in November, 2014. On New Years eve (2016), the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. I removed the kick panel and saw water pouring from the pump. After the holiday, we finally got in touch with the appliance repair shop who handles GE warranty work in our area. They contacted GE on our behalf to see if GE would stand behind a product that was just over 1 month out of warranty. Bear in mind, this wasnt something simple like an indicator light burning out, this failure was catastrophic. GE basically told them (and us) to pound sand. We are a 2 person family. The dishwasher was used maybe twice a week during the year weve owned it. Amazing quality! Now Im looking forward to watching the rest of this stuff fall apart. It looks like the life span of the product and the warranty period are the same. How handy for GE. They must not have to depend on repeat business or take these negative reviews seriously.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

We purchased the GE Cafe series appliances back in mid-2016 (dishwasher, dual oven gas range and microwave). Over that time period we have had at least 10 repair claims. The dishwasher front door and seal have been replaced three times, has ruined my wood floors and baseboards. The gas range has had multiple issues, including broken lights, broken fan, and a manufacturers defect in the lower oven igniter which took our reseller and third-party warranty company three weeks to repair. The microwave oven had a plastic cover just break off one day - wasnt touched before - it just cracked off!Fortunately we purchased the units through Home Depot and purchased their extended warranty program. Unfortunately the warranty company doesnt replace units and wont include claims during the manufacturers 1-year warranty period in their lemon law policy. Ive repeatedly tried getting touch with the manufacturer, but they appear to be staying high-and-dry away from consumer grievances.GE doesnt stand behind their products. I dont think their resellers give a rip either. My advice - stay away from GE. If youre in the market for something Id look at LG. I have a refrigerator, washer and dryer from LG and have had zero issues in nearly 10 years of service. I have no idea if their reliability covers dishwashers, but Id certainly take a look.

On 05/20/2014, our GE microwave over the stove unit burst into flames. My wife was using timer and walked away then turned around and heard the microwave fan start (spontaneously). Then she observed flames/smoke reflected in the Microwave window. She observed the interior of the microwave was aflame. The fire was extinguished with a rag & water. The burning items appeared to be plastic/insulation. The fan from the microwave was with the burning insulation on the rotating plate. Had this unit only 14 months during that time the microwave fan would turn itself on for 3 minutes and then turn off all by itself. Happened twice in 14 months. Glad we were at home and were able to extinguish the fire. Called Lennar the builder who put this unit in to take pictures and check electrical. Was told the GE unit was bad to call GE. I know this will be a hassle as others have had this same problem with not so good results.

I used it last around 3pm on October 11, 2011 and apparently it was still heating up because my husband noticed a plastic burning smell the next morning. Purchased a GE over-the-range microwave worth about $400. About 2/1/2 yrs in it stopped working. Had a GE repairman come out to fix it. They charge $95 just to come out. I complained so they gave me 50% off parts and labor after the initial investment. It took him about ten minutes to pull out the defective part, a $10 thermostat which he replaced. Total cost: $162. Ive had GE products for years but the new ones are much more cheaply made IMHO. Made in Malaysia. In addition, the handle is breaking off as are plastic parts coming of the top of it. I guess Ill consider getting extended warranties from now on because these products are cheap. If Id had it longer, Id have bought a new one instead of fixing it.

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave in 2008. After 3 years, the magnetron went out and the microwave stopped heating. I called GE repair, and they told me it would cost over $300 to fix - close to the cost of a new microwave. Stupidly, I bought another GE microwave in August 2011, model JVM1750DP1BB. In the one year Ive had it, it has broken 4 times. One time, it was the magnetron (seems like a common problem). Another time it was the motherboard. Another time, it was a bad wiring problem. Each time, I called the GE repair service, and it takes 1-2 weeks to get an appointment. Twice, they cancelled my appointment on the day because they overbooked. Given that I had to take time off work for the appointments, this is a huge inconvenience. I have been waiting over this last time for an appointment, after they again cancelled my scheduled appointment. GE makes a terrible product, and their repair service is a joke. I bought GE because I wanted to Buy American, but they have completely turned me off. Think twice about buying GE! You will waste lots of time and money.

GE Microwave Model JES1655DR1BB - I have had many microwaves over many years but never had one malfunction as bad as this one. I am only glad that it happened with me rather than my wife or child. Or, if I had left the room while it was on. Immediately after turning the unit on, it started making loud electrical arcing noises and flashing light. I had just placed a microwave safe glass dish inside. I removed that and tested again with nothing inside. Same thing happened. I next thoroughly cleaned the unit. Tried again. Same thing happened. I had paid a little more for this unit than the usual believing it would be worth it. It clearly was not.

After several attempts to get recommended parts and repairs we are now having additional issues. The quality of the GE brand has really gone down compared to our older products that lasted 15+ years. I contacted by phone GEs customer service department (800-386-1215) on 2 separate occasions. The most recent was on 2/18/13. About 4 1/2 years ago, when we purchased our new house, we bought all new GE appliances for our kitchen and laundry room. My biggest complaint is with our dishwasher. The top and bottom racks are rusting and most of the prongs have broken off as a result. This should not happen for an appliance that is only about 4 1/2 years old. Their response was that I could purchase both the top and bottom rack. Why would I purchase the same racks only to have it happen again? Clearly this is happening because they used a poor quality steel. There was a recall not too long ago on our dishwasher and the service tech who came out to fix the recall couldnt believe how badly the racks have rusted. I understand there is no warranty; however, you would think or hope that the racks would last a lot longer than 4 1/2 years. I am very disappointed in the quality and the lack of help regarding this matter.

Fourteen months after buying my new built-in GE Profile Microwave/Convection, it stopped heating. I was told by GE that it was not under warranty. I paid close to $300 to an appliance service operation locally to fix my nearly $1,000.00 GE built-in (depending on the microwave to help feed four kids under the age of nine). So, about 13 months later I had another heating issue and I called the appliance service operation and they found another problem with the microwave. They said it was a faulty piece of equipment, replaced it and didnt charge me since they were local and said this shouldnt have happened (knew I was recently divorced and took pity on me). Almost 18 months after this, so three years after the purchase, the microwave started to act up again - it continues to work even after you open the microwave. Just dealt with it since it still worked. However, 6 months later, the microwave now doesnt heat. The power is on, and nothing happens inside. This started a week ago, but it was off and on. Now its dead. Never buying a GE anything. Ive got to buy a microwave and a refrigerator in the next six months. It is NOT going to be a GE!

Our GE Microwave Oven/Convection Oven Combo (Model: PT970SRSS) is a little over 2 years old. The interior paint on the ceiling of the microwave oven is chipping and bare metal is exposed. In addition, the microwaves glass turntable frequently slips off its plastic tripod base. Circular scratch marks, which also expose the underlying metal are evident in the area which is located directly below the glass turntable. The circular scratches are a direct result of the glass turntable scraping against the paint. The GE repairman said chipped paint is not repairable and that paint should not ever chip in a microwave, let alone a relatively new microwave. After many calls back and forth to the GE Consumer Relations person, we were offered a new combo at a discounted rate of approximately $1,000. (We paid around $2,000 originally.) Im not satisfied with this offer. I strongly feel that consumers should NOT have to pay to replace a defective item. GE needs to pull these defective and dangerous products off the market! Purchased new GE dishwasher after previous model lasted over 11 years. Family eats most meals and home and typically runs washer at least 4 times per week. New model was upgrade with stainless steel interior and all the efficiency upgrades from technology advances. Ran great for first 18 months then suddenly we opened one morning and notices water standing in bottom of machine. Emptied dishes, re-ran with same result. Technician called and spent an hour diagnosing to determine water pump, control board and wash motor would all need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $600 or 75% of what we paid for the unit new less than 2 years ago. Simply unacceptable that GE would produce such an unreliable product. We will be replacing with a different brand and would tell anyone to avoid GE dishwashers.

I purchased this dishwasher in Sept 2017. Today after normal use, the motor stopped and it leaked a full load of water into my basement. I called GE service and got no satisfaction. Its out of warranty after 12 months. I then called their customer care department who really dont care very much. They wanted a GE tech to look at the dishwasher for a fee of $109. Then they offered 50% discount on parts. In the past, GE was always a reliable brand but no longer. Stay away from their dishwashers and every other appliance they make. It is not the GE of old. I just purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher and hopefully, that will work better.

While heating a bowl of butter, my microwave arced. Microwave had smoke and electric fire smell. I have contacted GE. They said it was a rare issue. From the reviews on this site, I do not believe that this is a rare issue. They offered a 25 dollar coupon to buy another one. I do not believe I would do that. GE has had microwave recalls in the past due to fire hazard. I have registered a concern with the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

I bought this Microwave JVM3160 on December 2016, after six month the handle door broke but it was replaced as part of the warranty. By January 2018 (no more Warranty) it began tripping the circuit breaker. I change the power source for a dedicate circuit only for the microwave 20 AMP. The microwave blew its own fuse. I replaced its fuse. Then it blew the 20 AMP circuit breaker. That was enough. This microwave went to the garbage after 1 year and 2 month of use.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. I dont accept the premise that a new appliance should only last four years. I will replace my unusable microwave with a competitor’s brand and will pledge never to purchase a GE appliance again. I will also sell my GE stock, for I now understand why its going nowhere.

Our microwave (GE model JEs1655DR1BB) is only a couple of years old (if that). Today, my teenage son went to make microwave popcorn and the microwave made the most horrendous noise and started sparking behind the panel on the side. It lit up the entire room. I went and checked to make sure there wasnt something foreign in it (there wasnt) and stupid me thought maybe it was the popcorn so I tried a bowl of water. It did the same thing again. I am just thankful it didnt start an actual fire, but I am furious!

GE brags about employing its own service technicians yet, when I called to schedule an appointment to fix our Advantium 120 microwave (3 years old), they told me that unless I provided proof of purchase to the technician, he would charge me even for parts under warranty such as the magnetron tube. This in spite of the fact that they have all the purchase information at their fingertips, as I reported when we registered our purchase. They even told me our date of purchase, had our address, email address, etc. They dismissed my suggestion that an email from them to me that I could show the technician should suffice. After 3 years and severe family health issues, I have sadly misplaced the proof of purchase, not realizing that registering the appliance for warranty provided no real benefit; not even proof that I didnt steal the thing. I am saddened that a company of the former stature of GE would stoop so low to avoid a legitimate warranty repair.

I purchased this GE Profile dishwasher last June, I paid $1,499.00 for it and have had three (3) service calls. The first one said the water is not hot enough, the second one said run the water in sink and get hot before you use the dishwasher. The tech was here again this morning and called in to tech services and was told put plates on the right side of the rack only and the dishes will get clean. Are they kidding me? I called the 800 number for customer service and was told by Dominic (rep in customer service) that they would replace the dishwasher and allow me a 40% discount on a new one because this one is working as designed. It is my understanding that the dishwasher should wash dishes, so that tells me it is not working as designed. I want a new dishwasher, preferably one that washes the dishes and not one that I have to pay an additional 60%. Are you kidding me? This is not right. I have read the reviews on this dishwasher and it seems everyone who purchased the dishwasher I have are having the same problems and it is not working as designed. Please let me know asap when the replacement dishwasher will be delivered. I will not pay an additional 60% for another. It is not right that you would keep making excuses until warranty runs out. I notified you of this problem one month after I purchased it and I have lived with this problem for almost one year and now you tell me that you will give me a discount on a new one. I have already paid for a new dishwasher and that is what I expect in return. Thank you. I expect to hear from you soon.

Have a GE dishwasher put into operation June 2016 (new home). In Oct 2016 we noticed a leak and a serviceman came out and identified a loose soap dispenser - tightened it. Next time we used it, leaked as before. Same serviceman came again, this time replaced both the main seal & spinning water distribution wand assembly. Again, the unit leaked and on Dec 14th same serviceman replaced the soap dispenser. Before he got too far down the road, we called as the unit again leaked. He blamed it on excessive soap suds - which he removed manually. Following his departure, we again experienced a leak. Same serviceman returned on Dec 15th. After review, he advised us the DW would be replaced and we should get a call within 48 hrs to arrange. On Dec 17th (still no followup from GE) the DW leaked again - we video this time. On Dec 19th called customer relations and after much discussion it was apparent GE has NO CLUE what the heck they are doing. ONE MORE repair trip was scheduled - this time they would replace the inside and outside panel! We are fortunate to be retired otherwise this repair process would have cost us about $2000 so far! How idiotic is GE?? How much have they spent to avoid replacing this unit? Believe me this is the LAST GE appliance we buy from them. Dont know how they stay in business. We are awaiting the panel repair guy as of this writing. Will update once this service has been completed.

If my wife puts my dinner the refrigerator and I take it out and put it into the microwave if the dinner has let’s say pork chops, mashed potatoes, peas everything gets cooked except the mashed potatoes. They’re always cold and sometimes the peas will pop. There’s never a good medium for all foods at once and if you have any bread or biscuits you have to take it out after 15 seconds. The same goes with turkey cranberry stuffing and other things that go on the plate at Thanksgiving. Some stuff gets very hot. Some stuff stays cold.

Two years ago, after owning a GE JVM1490 microwave-convection oven (over the stove) for three years, the door handle broke.Let me clarify that I worked for GE first as an engineer, later as manager, for 20 years including 6 in Major Appliances. I am ashamed of what I am reading how GE is treating customers today.I am perfectly capable of replacing the handle myself if I am provided the complete and correct assembly drawings and/or instructions. GE refused to provide me anything when I requested them. The scant drawings and instructions I found online are insufficient. As a matter of fact, the design is so poor that removing the internal bezel, which you must do to reach the handle fasteners, forces you to break the mounting tabs, requiring replacement of this part plus the handle. This was confirmed by the parts store I visited. However, even after removing the bezel, neither I nor another ex-GE appliance engineer could figure out the access to the fasteners. I have glued the handle three times using epoxy and Cyanoacrylate (super glue), but it has broken off a fourth time. I will figure out a way of fixing it before I pay GE close to $100 for both the handle and bezel. And if I replace the appliance, you can be sure it will not be GE.GE should be ashamed of the poor design and deplorable customer service they are giving now. How things have changed! My suggestion is that all with this problem post name and phone number of GE customer service personnel they spoke with.

Over-the-range microwave failure (model JVM2052, manufactured Dec. 2010) was purchased and installed professionally in March 2011. Total cost is $546. First, the fan failed in about June 2012 and I thought I can live with this. In Sept. 2012, the unit failed, but the interior light and clock still work. I paid $97.00 for a service call from the dealer, and the tech said the power source failed(?). Estimated parts and labor for repair is $370. So, I will buy a new unit (not GE) and pay about $150 for delivery and installation and take away this GE unit. I live in Morris County, NJ and this is not a rural area! GE service rep whom I called said GE doesnt service this area and to look in the yellow pages for an authorized dealer. I called again and got the name and address of the president of GE Appliances, and I am going to write about this product.

Last year in November while we were sitting in our living room and watching TV around 11:00 PM, we first smelled smoke and then noticed fire under the countertop above dishwasher. Luckily, we were awake to put fire out and disconnect dishwasher. This was all stainless steel, top of the line Profile dishwasher, part of our all Profile line. The next day I called GE customer service only to learn that dishwasher was recalled and that we were never informed about it. Very generously, they offered to replace our unit with equal top of the line PDT750SSF0SS. Instead of taking them to cleaners, as my lawyer suggested, I was stupid enough to accept this offer. A week later, dishwasher arrived but straight out of box, the door was damaged and it was full of water for some reason?! Another week passed by and finally this piece of junk was delivered. This December of 2014, just 3 weeks out of 1 year warranty, dishwasher stopped drying dishes. I called customer service and when they learned that I never purchased extended warranty, they told me to hitch hike. They offered me special customer service number which I called, they placed my name on the list, and never called back. This is the worst company I ever had to deal with, the worst products hands down and the most horrible customer service. If you dont take this post seriously and do not run away from GE, I guarantee you will be writing one of these posts, few days after warranty expires. I have reason to believe that these machines are somehow programmed through their computer to stop operating after warranty is out. Periodically my GE Profile Dishwasher will not clean well. On every occasion it is due to clogging of spray ports on the upper and/or lower spray arms. Removing the blockages is nigh-on impossible as it is often not possible to extract the blockage from the outside and its not at all possible to flush the blockage back down the arm to extract it at the centre. All that is required is a bit of forethought and the creation of some access to the arm. I was frankly surprised to not be able to find a replacement arm as the suggested solution to this problem, the additional part revenue being part of GEs the business model. There are a number of other design issues with the assembly at the bottom that make me think it was done by an intern and nobody checked her work at the end of summer break before it went into production.

I am rating my over the counter GE microwave model no. JVM3160RFSS. Ive had it for over 2 years and its still performing well. Pros: Solid feel, sturdy door mechanism, easy to clean interior, attractive design, fairly quiet, adequate lighting inside, reasonable price, fan works okay for moderate smoke, short reheating times for lighter fare, cooks frozen foods quickly. The integrity of the interior is good with no chipping or cracking. Cons: Fan is inadequate for heavy smoke if searing beef, hot and cold spots while reheating heavier foods such as mashed potatoes or casseroles, controls are hard to see in dim or moderate light. A suggestion to GE would be to make microwaves with optional backlit buttons to see at nighttime or in dim lighting. I like that GE manufactures most of their microwaves in the United States.

Our GE microwave stopped working after about 7 months of use. Ive never had a microwave break down on me before. Ive owned other brands which Ive used for years, actually lasted over 10 years. The only reason we purchased the GE microwave was because our old microwave was too big in size. I called GE for warranty service and it was very much of a hassle just to make the appointment. I had to call several times because a customer service representative misinformed me. It took a couple days just to set up a service appointment.Ive told the representative that the microwave stopped working and will not power back on again. The representative told me that the fuse probably went out. Something must have blown out. Finally, the appointment was made for about a week later, which was the earliest time available. It is so inconvenient not to have a working microwave even just for a day. Anyhow, the service tech came about two hours late. The scheduled time was for 8am-12 pm. He showed up close to 2pm. A family member was waiting at home all day because of this. Then the service tech told us that he needs to order a part for the microwave and that he will return a week later to repair the microwave.A week later, he didnt show up. No one even called. So I called back GE and found out that the appointment has been postponed! So now, we have been without a microwave for about three weeks. I think this is ridiculous. Im pretty sure that this is a common problem with GE microwaves and they already had an idea why the microwave wasnt working. It doesnt power-up! Now they are telling me that they dont have the part/s in stock? If I had known that we had to invest so much time and go through so much hassle from the get-go, I would have just purchased a new microwave three weeks ago. GE should pay me for all the time Ive wasted!

We selected this microwave because it has a toaster and baking feature as our small kitchen would be better without a toaster oven taking up space. Turns out user must change accessories from glass to metal when using the toaster and baking feature. The space needed to store accessories rendered the space saving concept as useless. Also, the toasting is slow and does not quite equal what a toaster oven accomplishes. Also the baking/convection mode is so noisy, one cannot hear radio/tv. 30 minutes for a baked potato is a long time for excessive noise. We bought from Kitchen Solutions in the Bronx about May 2014.

Called GE and was told it was no longer under warranty. Explained leak has had to have been going on for months so should fall under warranty. Was told because we didn’t notice probably would not be. Sending tech which I will have to pay for to see if he can tell how long been leaking. More to come after visit. So far not happy.

Run, dont walk, toward any dishwasher other than a GE. Problems with the dishwasher within one year - black residue on my dishes that felt and smeared like grease. Calls to GE repair resulted in the worst customer service I have ever experienced. One call returned at 4:00 am. After two visits, a lecture about how to load a dishwasher, I gave up. The effort of making calls for visits, taking time off work, rude repair technicians and being told it was not grease, I now have a dishwasher a few years old that is falling apart. Screws are now coming loose and the buttons are sticking.

I loaded and ran the GE Profile dishwasher in the evening. Later that evening, putrid odor of undetermined origin was noted in the house. I searched throughout house to find the cause, but it was not located. The next morning, the dishwasher was found to be extremely hot on the outer surface (door) and countertop. The heated dry light was on along with the start button, which would not reset or turn off. The unit had to be disconnected by turning the electrical breaker off. All contents were either melted or had a strange brown film, along with broken tines and melted silverware rack in the dishwasher. Even the water dispenser in the bottom of the dishwasher was melted or broken. A GE service representative was called and his report stated: Unit was left on for too long and heat caused excessive damage to the product. Due to excessive damage, unit is non-repairable. He shared with me he had never seen this much damage done to a dishwasher. I spoke to GE consumer advocates twice and their solution is to provide me a discounted price on a new appliance and the email address for formal complaints. When I inquired about if there had been resolution to the cause of this problem because I wanted to make a formal complaint, I was told there is not a safety issue with the heating unit. I then spoke to a GE resource person in recall and she shared with me that it is a known issue of overheating and destroying contents, but it has not caused a fire. Igniting a fire is a justification for a recall - can we not be proactive? This department is working with me and ensured that in newer models this potential hazard does not exist. But other consumers who have purchased in this model (PDW9280N20SS) should be aware of the potential fire hazard. Everything was very hot inside and out. Consequences: the 3-year-old dishwasher (that I use about once per week) was totally ruined and I inhaled potentially toxic fumes for over 8 hours.

20-month old G.E. Space Saver microwave (HVM1540) started to fizzle out by showing signs of running, but not heating; display flickering on and off with odd symbols; and vent, at times, not able to turn off unless I unplugged the whole unit. Anyhow, brand new home with brand new GE appliances, and I have had to replace the ice maker three times in my GE Profile refrigerator, and now this, my microwave. Service department stated that if I pay for the service call and the magnetron, they could guarantee the part for 5 years. But if it should go out, I would have to pay for labor again. Labor is guaranteed for 30 days. No thank you. I am very disappointed in GE products. Single mom, on a single income in rough economic times, I cant afford to purchase GE products again, and again, and again.

5 years ago I updated my complete kitchen with Adora LG appliances. To my dismay, the handle on the microwave (Model DVM1950SR1SS) began peeling like paper. Now I have a white plastic handle that’s supposed to be stainless steel as an eyesore in the middle of my kitchen. When I called GE replacement line, I was informed the handle was $164! My 5 year old kitchen is out of date! As far as I’m concerned this is a defective part and GE should replace it at no charge. I have been a faithful GE purchaser for many years. After this mishap, I will no longer recommend GE appliances or will I purchase them.

We purchased a GE over-the-range microwave oven last November 2010 and it was installed in February 2011 when our addition was finished. Last week, it decided to stop responding to instructions. When the door is closed, it just continues to run--the turntable turns, the light stays on and the fan keeps running. It will respond to instructions, but when we want to shut it off if the door is shut, we have to unplug it--which is a real pain because it is over the range. We have an old microwave that was my wifes parents and it still works fine even though it is about 20 years old. The new one stops working in a little more than a year which is not acceptable. We contacted GE and were told that we would have to pay over $100.00 to get the thing fixed. I dont think so. We will not purchase anything GE again.

We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. The first Cafe dishwasher needed repairs in the first 3 months, and was replaced within 10 months due to continuing problems. The replacement GE Cafe dishwasher was deemed non-repairable after 2.5 years. The unit has a design flaw and the bracket holding the top water sprayer broke. The extended warranty with Assurant will not cover the dishwasher because they say it is not a working part. We are trying to get GE Customer Care to help but after three weeks the message we are getting is they do not care at all.The front burner on the cooktop will not light. GE cannot get a replacement part so the cooktop was also deemed nonrepairable after only 3 year. Our Cafe refrigerator also has a design flaw. The refrigerator must be unplugged to reset the computer when the water filter is changed. If you dont the refrigerator does not recognize the filter and will not dispense water. Needless to say I will never buy GE again. It is sad to see what was a good company go down the tubes.

It would be $89.00 to come out and an additional $25 for the double wall oven that would not stop beeping and would not work at all. We purchased a GE double wall oven at the same time as the microwave. All of our appliances were purchased in 2006. All GE and we are worried they are all junk. The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working
The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working in June 2020, after the nuclear reactor “blew up”. Which could have been a dangerous situation. I was told by Assurant Insurance Company that it was no longer covered by the 1 year insurance policy, and if I purchased a new policy for $241.00, they would repair it or replace it. After they discovered it was not repairable, they denied the ”replace it” part and reimbursed the money for the policy. GE agreed to sell me a new microwave at a discounted price, which I agreed to. The replacement microwave was delivered damaged, in October 2020. After many calls and waiting hours on hold, service came out and said it was “not repairable“. Again, phone calls to GE Customer Relations and reexplaining the problem, I was told they did not have a microwave in stock to replace it. However, after further searching, one was found, and would be delivered. On 10/23/20, I received a phone call from the freight company that the microwave was being delivered the following day, but they had the wrong address! it was a previous address. Where that address came from is a mystery as we never had GE appliances delivered to that address. The freight company was not authorized to change the address in the system, so another call to GE. I am still waiting for a new microwave! I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have called GE, waited on hold or call-back, waited for service, and been told I have the wrong case number. I have all new GE Profile appliances, all have had service for problems. I will NEVER buy another GE appliance. Their service department and Customer Relations department is disorganized and incompetent. GE appliance are not quality products.

Our builder installed our GE microwave Model: JVM7195SF1SS as part of our kitchen appliances. It worked fine for about 3 1/2 years. Then it stopped heating. It turns on and appears to work, but after inserting a cup of cold water and running it on high 10 minutes, we remove cold water. I looked into this and found that the magnetron (spelling?) tends to fail. Apparently, its a known issue, based on the reviews. GE wont allow consumers to replace this and doesnt provide replacement parts. Getting it professionally repaired will cost more than the microwave is worth. GE sent me a certificate for $150 to replace it, but it will cost at least twice that to purchase a new unit and get it installed. Plus, we have to buy another GE. I dont want to end up in the same situation. So we didnt use the certificate.

I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

The GE over-the-range, model JVM316URFSS was installed in our new home by the builder. We have been in the house and used the microwave moderately for the past two years. Last night, out of nowhere, the microwave started running. I realized that it was actually heating when the glass turntable popped. I jumped up and opened the door to stop the heating. The turntable was broken. The interior was incredibly hot. Having read several reviews I realize that this is not an uncommon problem. I am going to buy a replacement but I am very concerned by the fact that GE is aware of this recallable situation and continue to allow this product to remain on the market. We had a GE microwave that my parents got when I was in elementary school that lasted us through graduation (when I got it), and it then lasted me another 6 or 7 years after that. It was a great microwave, so we went with GE for our next one. What a mistake that was. The new one died completely less than a year after we got it (less than a year after its manufacture date at that!). The one after, one of the same make and model, lasted 3 years to the month after its manufacture date. Sorry GE, but I just do not have any interest in spending so much for so short a lifespan on your products, and its a damn shame that your quality has suffered so badly that you have lost a once-loyal customer of your brand.

Tech said not to expect more than seven years service out of new appliances. Replacement plastic handles - just two pieces of injection molded plastic - selling from other companies for as little as $10 are $130.00. $130.00! I purchased my machine in 2019. The only concern I have with this machine is that I’m never sure of the amount of water that fills the tub with some features that I’m not used to. The tub on this machine enables me to wash very large loads including my queen size quilt. After washing, my clothes are practically dried which cuts down on my electric bill for the dryer. The drain and spin feature allows for a drier finish. Everything else is good. As long as you’re using the right soap the clothes are the cleanest.

I had a problem with my GE Profile Dishwasher that I had for several years and I had it on factory warranty. However, the last time they came to repair, they did not have parts available to fix anymore. So, they recommended new one. I worked with Consumer dept and made arrangements to replace with one they recommended at $500+. After several efforts to get it delivered, it was and we began using. It is not a Profile like my old one and it does not have the additional washing, rinsing and drying cycles as the Profile. It is a flat out bottom line washer. No, sani clean etc.. We have used the machine about 4 times and each time we have to rewash several of the dishes and especially the silverware. This is the most disgusting piece of equipment I have ever used. My home is loaded with GE products from years ago, mostly the Profile series and I have been delighted with the products and service. This machine is a disaster. I cannot believe that GE has this on the market or maybe this is a machine they use to satisfy customers who may threaten to use someone elses. It was not free, as I say it cost over $500. The stores and onlines advertise better machines on sale for less. I have GE stock which I will sell. They are going down on Quality. Consequences: Stuck with poor machine that does not do job that I paid good money for. Really, GE, get yourself together. Product Model:GDF510PSD1SS.

My husband and I replaced all the appliances in our new home 4 years ago with GE Profile double oven, cooktop and built in microwave. All the appliances are of poor quality and do not cook the way we are accustomed to. But the microwave has had a particularly bad history. Within one year, it completely quit working and we had to replace several fuses and a board. Over the past couple of months, the keypad continually quits working and we have to climb up on a stool, unplug the microwave to reset it. Only then will it work for us to heat something. However, the keypad does not accurately reflect the task we are trying to use. I have had many microwaves over the years and I have NEVER had to repair one before. This particular brand of microwave was produced in Malaysia in July 2008. Very, very poor quality. No resolve from GE or from Sears where we bought it. I am done with GE and with SEARS.

I purchased this GE dishwasher May 2015 through Amazon. Immediately after installation I was having trouble where it kept beeping when I went to wash dishes. A repairman came out and said there was a recall on the control panel and he replaced - no charge. In July 2017 this dishwasher flooded onto my laminate floor. I found it in the morning when I woke up. An appliance repairman came out. Did not know why it flooded. No charge this time, but he made a few adjustments and it seemed fine. Then the bottom sprayer arm broke. The heat shields fell off and the arm melted. I had that replaced. Then the washer would not dry - no matter what I did. Repairman came out. He did not have access to the GE computer program but made some suggestions. No charge. Dishwasher seemed to dry better for two weeks. Then in August it flooded again. A repairman came out. Ran the dishwasher, but it did not flood, so he did not know what the problem was. This time charged me $60 and said call if it floods again. Obviously I am afraid to run the dishwasher at night or when I am away in case it floods again. Plus the dishwasher is not drying completely.I have contacted GE. Their response is: Normally we dont do this because your warranty has expired already; however, I have a bit of a soft spot and think some extra consideration is due. I did a lot of research and came up with a couple options to help you out: I realize this is not ideal but we can extend to you our discount into any new model if you find its not cost effective to repair. I found the 2017 comparable model for you. Really??? I dont want another GE. I want a refund as this is a piece of junk. Plus this kind person said it would only cost me $484 and I will have another warranty.

We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

I purchased a GE dishwasher on March 15th 2018... The first dishwasher I received on March 23rd was obviously broken. The dishwasher setting piece was completely broken off and the sides were dented and looked like it had been dropped. Ok. The delivery guys immediately called it in and reordered another one for me. A week later the second dishwasher came, it looked fine from the outside so I signed for it. Once I opened it I saw that the top rack was missing wheels and the second shelf wasnt even connected to the dishwasher. I called and a week later they came and got it and left a new one. I asked the delivery guys to unpackage it and look inside. Immediately the top arm cycle fell off and the HE symbol at the bottom popped out. They assured me that was normal... When the install guy arrived a week later he said he thought everything looked ok. He ran a cycle, then left. Before he was out of my driveway the cycle arm/water sprayer fell off and water sprayed everywhere... I brought the piece into Home Depot and they told me it was broken (duh) and they would order a new one. NO. This was going to be the fourth time I will be taking off work to deal with this dishwasher! GE is absolutely gone down. The products being produced are either being sabotaged by the employees from the Ohio plant, who are all losing their jobs because the plant is about to get shut down and is going to be moved to Mexico or GE is absolutely horrible at business, design and producing quality appliances.Regardless, I will NEVER purchase a GE product again and would never recommend to anyone to purchase a GE appliance! I am going to get a refund and insist compensation and inconvenience fees! I had to take off work 4 Times, had to cancel plumbers 3 times (still was charged). I lost money from my work, time from life and a month without a dishwasher. Also, a month with a broken one sitting in my living room because they wouldnt come get the 2nd and 3rd broken dishwashers until a I ordered another one and had that one delivered before they got the broke one(s) out of my house.
