We recently purchased three GE Profile stainless steel appliances for our new home. The total was somewhere around $3500. Within two weeks our $1000 dishwasher would not work. It took FOUR service calls and THREE weeks for it to finally be repaired. Now our $2000 oven (traditional/convection) has stopped working and the oven light will not go off without us tripping the breaker. Service tech not available for 5 days. I am expecting the new micro to go out any day now. All of these appliances are less than two months old. We had GE builder grade appliances in our previous home that are still running strong after 16 years. That is the reason we went with GE again. However, after the above mentioned issues with our new GE appliances, I encourage anybody who reads this to NEVER, EVER BUY ANY GE PRODUCTS AGAIN.

Our Profile over-the-range microwave failed after 2 years. (Warranty was for one year!) One day it suddenly died. The repairman ($100) said repeated twisting of the wire from the oven to the door (which contains all the electronics) is inevitable with opening and closing. The wire often breaks within its insulation: a bad design fault. No question of replacing the wire; we would have to order a new door, for nearly $400 plus $200 for installation, which requires 2 service technicians. This is more than the cost of a new OTR microwave. He advised us to get one with the controls beside, not in the door. Unfortunately GE is the only company that makes a microwave in the same colour as our range.

We bought a suite of Slate GE appliances during kitchen remodel 2 years ago. Weve had the dishwasher, model GDT580SMF2ES, motor replaced twice now and it is still loud and stops intermittently. Thank goodness we have the extended warranty! The over stove microwave is now starting to run when we just shut the door and stops intermittently. Were ready to replace everything with a reliable brand and cut our losses. We will never buy GE again.

GE above stove microwave (DVM1850DM1BB) stopped working and went completely dead after 1 year. Purchased a second GE microwave because it easily fit into the existing space. Sure enough, the second microwave stopped working and went complete dead a little over a year. I have always heard bad things about GE products, now I can confirm those negative comments about GE products are true.

However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months later, a few days before Thanksgiving 2015. GE claimed it was out-of-warranty, and I would have to pay $99 to have a technician look at it, and would charge for repairs. We are stuck with the GE Monogram Microwave as it is a built-in unit and our cabinet is built around it. So we went and got a new one from Best Buy. When the new one came and when we removed it from the box, it had a large dent in it - a very large one. It clearly indicates a shoddy QC job, as the unit should not have left the factory with such an obvious dent. We asked BEST BUY to replace it, but a new one is not going to come till after Christmas. So it was 2 strikes against GE Microwave ovens for me.We spoke to GE and they were not very sympathetic, and amazingly did not even apologize for the inconvenience caused!! They just stuck to their out-of-warranty mantra, which I understand. But then the occurrence of a second event with another GE Microwave, and the inconvenience of sending back a big dented one was also not acknowledged or perhaps even understood by their CS representative. So it is strike 3 against GE Appliances for me.I would never recommend GE microwaves and was totally disappointed with the Customer service of the GE Appliance division. I also have GE Cooktop and two GE wall ovens and shudder to think what will happen if they should break down. Just sharing a sad experience that holds some lessons for me and my family and friends. (Rethink buying GE Appliances.)

Bought GE range microwave JVM3160DF3BB11/16 from Lowes. Tripped the breaker. Replaced the breaker with a new. Would immediately trip the breaker as soon as you pushed the start button. Last time it tripped the breaker oven went dead. Wont even light up. Junk. Do not buy made by Haier in China with the GE name on it.

I purchased a GE microwave just a year ago. Ive had a few problems with it like the round glass plate that you cook food on cracking in half twice when the microwave wasnt even in use, and the control panel going stupid... requiring me to unplug it to get it back on track. The worst part is I purchased an entire kitchen work of GE appliances at the same time and Ive already had two service visits on the dishwasher.GE customer service is the worst! When I call they just keep repeating themselves and they never listen to what Im telling them. Today was the worst yet... I got this woman on the phone and she just kept telling me the microwave was not in warranty any longer as of last month. She also told me she only has two appliances listed on my account (no range or refrigerator) when they were registered at the same time as the other appliances and they have sold me filters for the refrigerator several times. All I can tell people is if you are considering buying GE appliances... DONT! They SUCK!

I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

My GE over the range Microwave has broken about 4 times in a years time. My warranty company American Home Shield (AHS) has decided that instead of replacing this piece of garbage, its somehow worth it to keep on fixing it, which is apparently their MO for all their customers but I digress. After the latest breakdown (microwave lost power completely), I was referred by AHS to GE Appliance repair. Thus began the nightmare. The tech that showed up was incompetent at best. He showed up, looked at me, made a grouchy face and proceeded to walk in the kitchen with an attitude like he was doing us this massive favor. He opened the microwave door, closed it, opened his computer and ordered 10 (yes 10) different part. Again, he literally just opened and closed the door - did not disassemble to see what part was actually messed up. No diagnosis done of any kind. He scheduled to come out the week after that - didnt show up because I missed his phone call. Btw, I called him back pretty immediately and he didnt pick up. After being on hold for about 35 mins (which is clearly the GE standard hold time), they tell me the guy has left the area and they need to reschedule me for a week later. The day before the 2nd appointment, they called to reconfirm and then the morning of, I called, stayed on the standard 35-40 min hold and reconfirmed he was still coming and was told he was on his way. Well, the appointment time came and went and he failed to show up YET again so I called to ask wtf happened. They said he didnt come because I canceled the appointment thru an automated call. This time the idiot didnt call me like they always do. I asked for proof of this alleged automated call that was placed to me and they said no call record exist and so while it seemed like a system glitch, the tech already left the area and theyd need to reschedule it. I told them, No, thank you. Got a local repair company to come out the very next day. Turns out, out of the 10 parts that idiot tech had ordered, only 4 had arrived while the invoice still showed 10 being shipped. Let me clarify this: All these issues stem from GEs entire company: From manufacturing crappy products to HR hiring incompetent techs to customer service being absolutely nightmarish to supply chain not sending parts that are being ordered. And if you can somehow get their alleged consumer advocate department on the phone after a 40 min hold time, they dont give a crap either. All these employees MUST hate GE to drive customers away as far as possible. I own a business and I will never ever EVER buy GE again.

Two years ago, after owning a GE JVM1490 microwave-convection oven (over the stove) for three years, the door handle broke.Let me clarify that I worked for GE first as an engineer, later as manager, for 20 years including 6 in Major Appliances. I am ashamed of what I am reading how GE is treating customers today.I am perfectly capable of replacing the handle myself if I am provided the complete and correct assembly drawings and/or instructions. GE refused to provide me anything when I requested them. The scant drawings and instructions I found online are insufficient. As a matter of fact, the design is so poor that removing the internal bezel, which you must do to reach the handle fasteners, forces you to break the mounting tabs, requiring replacement of this part plus the handle. This was confirmed by the parts store I visited. However, even after removing the bezel, neither I nor another ex-GE appliance engineer could figure out the access to the fasteners. I have glued the handle three times using epoxy and Cyanoacrylate (super glue), but it has broken off a fourth time. I will figure out a way of fixing it before I pay GE close to $100 for both the handle and bezel. And if I replace the appliance, you can be sure it will not be GE.GE should be ashamed of the poor design and deplorable customer service they are giving now. How things have changed! My suggestion is that all with this problem post name and phone number of GE customer service personnel they spoke with.

We bought 3 GE Profile appliances in 2005 when we renovated our kitchen. We have not had much problem with the gas oven/range/stove. We have, however, had nothing but problems with the microwave (which I submitted a separate review for) and the dishwasher. Recently, a friend made some suggestions regarding the dishwasher. I then went online and watched some tutorials on troubleshooting my dishwasher problems. I tried all the new suggestions and the dishwasher worked OK the one or two times after that and then back to all the old problems: 1. We have to scour every dish until its nearly clean before loading (even though the instructions specifically stated no pre-rinsing necessary). 2. I am not sure the soap cup opens. The soap is always left caked in the cup resulting in running the dishwasher twice. We have tried all kinds of various soaps and they all do the same thing. The eco-friendly soaps are the worst. We strive to be eco-friendly, but how can we be if we are using the harshest soaps possible AND running our dishwasher twice?! Not to mention the pre-rinse scour and running water until it is 120 degrees prior to running.3. The dishwasher also leaks and is very noisy.I have read some other reviews on this product and realize our dishes are not always dry at the end. This is a non-issue for me. I dont care so much if the dishes are dry. I do prefer for them to be clean. Dishes are a task I do not prefer to do. It would be nice to have a functioning helper. I am grateful the thing hasnt caught on fire. I saw that this dishwasher currently sells for $800-$1,500. I cannot believe it. I wouldnt spend $100 on this piece of junk.

GE microwave oven (jes1651sj02) started to spark like lightning, which can be seen through the inside vent grid/grill located on the right. Sparks are seen just behind the waveguide cover where the magnetron is located. It seems to be a common problem with GE microwave ovens from what I have researched. The microwave has now stopped working and just makes an odd noise like groan or urrrrr. It’s just over 2 years old. Its a piece of **. It should last 10 years or more, like my last 2 have. Our GE Spacemaker XL microwave stopped working on 7/11/12. We purchased our house in January 2000 with the microwave included and have not had any problems with our microwave, until yesterday, when we woke up and tried to pop the kids breakfast in for a quick heat and it made a strange humming noise and you could smell plastic melting. All power was quickly turned off to the unit. Now to find a replacement for this built-in microwave is going to be a problem. The local technician stated the blower motor we need is no longer available. Thanks, GE, for at least 12 years of excellence. We are now looking for a similar replacement.

GE continually shows us why they are failing as a company. In just this last year I have replaced a less than 5 year old GE microwave, three separates parts to my GE monogram refrigerator, and now this one and a half year old dishwasher. The only appliance that GE makes that hasnt broken is the stove/oven that is over 10 years old and shows no signs of weakening.I purchased the upgraded stainless steel model that contained all the bells and whistles. It lasted 1 year and 3 months before the entire control panel stopped working. We utilized the dishwasher about once a week or once every two weeks in a two person household. Hardly a rough environment for a 700$ appliance. The repair costs was quoted for 99$ just to have GE look at it. The control panel was 140$, plus additional labor. This amounts to over 280$ to repair a year old product. I advise buying LG or Bosch.

We bought a GE dishwasher a little over 3 years ago. In the last week of September we awoke to the smell of hot or melted plastic. We found the source to be the dishwasher. I had loaded and started it before going to bed the night before. The counter-top above the dishwasher was stove top hot and upon opening the dishwasher found that a cutting board that we have had for many years and have always put in the dishwasher had melted on top of the heating coil. Dishwasher safe items on the top rack melted as well. It had been drying for at least 9 hours. After pulling the dishwasher out we saw the heat shield had melted and was crumbling. We contacted GE, sent them all the pictures and they told us it was not a safety issue. We have no doubt that if we had not woken up so early we would have had a fire in our house caused by the dishwasher.

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

I live in a condominium building with approximately 105 units. We all had the same GE microwave installed in our units approximately five years ago (contractor-installed). I sent out a mass email to all of the owners to ask if they were having the same problems I was having my microwave, which was the touch panel will not accept commands. I received approximately 15 complaints from various homeowners with the same complaint. When I called GE to tell them the problem I was having with my microwave, they told me a technician would have to come out and diagnose the problem. The service call would be $99.95, and at that time the technician would let me know what the problem was and tell me the charge for the replacement part and labor cost. I told GE Customer Service that there were many people in my condo building who were having the same problem and I wanted to know why each homeowner should have to pay the initial $99.95 service call fee? The response was, That is our policy. To placate me, GE customer service said they would charge me the initial fee but I would receive a 25% discount for parts and labor. In the meantime, two or three other homeowners made service call appointments for their microwave oven with GE. One homeowner was given a fee for parts and labor, which would have been only slightly less than buying a new microwave and another homeowner was not given a labor cost. In both cases, the homeowners did not go forth with their repairs, because buying a new microwave was more cost effective.I want Consumer Affairs to know GE grossly mishandled this malfunction issue amongst a group of homeowners who own the same microwave. Secondly, I realize the microwave ovens are five years old, but GE should have some record regarding failing parts along with the life cycle of this product. Lastly, I want GE to be held accountable for not telling consumers a repair cost for certain issues. There should be a cost per hour, not cost per broken item.I kept records of all correspondence amongst the homeowners of my condominium building, so I will be of great assistance if you need further help from me. Product malfunction is a GE Profile Spacemaker 2.0 Model # JVM2070SK02.

Bought our GE Microwave (DVM1850DMWW) from Home Depot about 5-6 years ago. I can see a unit just failing; but to start burning, smoking and smelling is non-excusable. We were lucky enough to be in the kitchen at the time and catch the problem before it escalated. While the unit was just ok while it worked, potentially burning down our kitchen is inexcusable regardless of age. Time for a range hood and a small countertop model. A non-GE model.

When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.

GE microwave model JES1344ES. This is a stainless steel with black accent 1.34 cubic foot microwave oven. It looks great. The micro is heavy for its size. The stainless steel is brushed and low luster finish. The door handle is chrome as is some of the other accent pieces. The push button panel is easy to read and has a large knob for making manual time adjustments. The light inside is very bright. There is a rotating platter in the oven compartment that is not knocked off of its guide rollers very easy. The push button panel is a glossy black material that is easy to attract fingerprints. The preset times that are programmed in the microwave is the only part of the product that could be an issue. For example the popcorn button when used has burnt all of the different brands of microwave popcorn that we have tried. It is set about 30 seconds too long. There is no way to adjust the preset time that I can figure out. We set the time with the large knob manually and the popcorn comes out just fine. The preset times for the Auto Defrost are also a bit off. They are not long enough. We also have a Subzero freezer set at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit so that may be too cold for the defrost presets. Overall the microwave is great except for the preset times that Ive mentioned. We use it daily and have done so for five years. It still looks excellent inside and out.

We purchased a GE microwave oven from ABT electronics in about August, 2013. In October, 2014 we had issues with the fan remaining on while the door was closed. Called GE. They said the unit was out of warranty by about 2 months. We felt that was a short period of time and that we called as soon as the issue became chronic.Had three service calls where the techs tried to fix a simple problem. First tech walked through our living room with dirty boots. Didnt fix the problem. Messed up our carpet. Bad attitude. Second call, two techs couldnt fix the problem. Said it was a door issue and they made some superficial adjustments. Problem not fixed. Third call, two more techs. Same result. In the meantime I tried to convince GE that I didnt want another service call. I wanted a new unit. No luck. I was offered a discount to purchase a new unit for around $300 or so. Im sure they spent more money on service calls than a new unit would have cost in terms of dollars and the reputation of one of the worlds biggest companies. Now, the fan for the unit stays on almost all the time after the cooking is done. Is this the best GE can do? If so, thats pretty sad. Tried to reach someone in sales who would get it. No such luck. DONT BUY GE AND IF YOU HAVE ISSUES DONT RELY ON A FACELESS, CLUELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HELP IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY.

We purchased the entire line of slate/GE/Adora appliances from Home Depot 11 months ago. The fridge has required a service call for a VERY loud freezer. The microwave is fine. The stove/oven is fine. The dishwasher is a GIGANTIC piece of junk! 4 service calls and its still clunking, tapping, grinding and just extremely loud. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! We can only run it at night because of all the racket. The layout of the sections for dishes makes it totally useless inside. It doesnt clean. Soap residue is everywhere. My old DW was quieter and more efficient. *Insert sad face here.*

We purchased our new GE Over-the-Range Microwave (model HVM1750DPWW, 1.7 cu. ft.) for $269.00 in February of 2012 and in August of 2013 it started to malfunction. Specifically the microwave would start on its own whenever we would OPEN the door. Now the microwave does not work at all (with the door closed or open). Based on the feedback that I have read in some of the posts on this site, I will replace the microwave since the maker can no longer be trusted to manufacture units that are robust and safe. But what manufacturer can be trusted at this point? It is my understanding that all microwaves (from all major companies) are currently made overseas with poor materials and highly suspect safety and quality standards. (Note - previous GE Microwave [same type - over the range] lasted for 14 years.) Thanks to Consumer Affairs for allowing us to post unfavorable reviews.

A few years ago, I purchased a brand new GE microwave oven. A week ago the microwave oven stopped working. I contacted an Appliance Repair company for repair. When the tech came & disassembled the microwave oven, he discovered pliers inside the oven. We took pictures of it (BTW, it wasnt the cause of the problem). I contacted GE to alert them of this & they told me that the robots that assembled the microwave oven probably dropped it in there. Then they said they will send a tech to my residence to investigate. I told them that the pliers was removed & the microwave oven is fixed & assembled. Nonetheless they sent a tech anyway. I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing any GE products. They proved their products are a safety hazard & they dont care about the consumer nor their safety. All they care about is taking your $$$.

Beware of GEs scam! My new house came with a GE microwave oven model JVM16
Beware of GEs scam! My new house came with a GE microwave oven model JVM1630. It no longer heats food so I called GE repair. Heres basically what they told me: It is likely the magnetron tube and it is still under warranty, so no charge to replace it but I would have to pay $99.95 for the repairman to come to my home to diagnose the problem. If I decided I didnt want to repair the microwave, I was offered a $100 coupon toward a new one but it had to be a GE and it had to be bought on their website only. If I decided to go ahead with the repairs, the $99.95 would be deducted from the bill and I would only have to pay for additional parts and labor. I repeatedly asked for a ball-park labor charge so I could make an informed decision as to whether it was cost effective to have the repairman come out or just get a brand new one elsewhere. The person on the repair line hung up on me! I called back and I was told the same thing; that no one could tell me what the labor cost estimate might be. I asked to talk to a supervisor and same story. I didnt schedule a repair because I was taking a long trip and wouldnt be using the microwave anyway. When I returned from my trip, I called GE repair and again they wouldnt give me a ball park figure. Frustrated, I decided to have the repairman just come out and repair the darn thing and an appointment was scheduled for the next Monday. I had to rearrange a Monday day trip to Wednesday and set the repair appointment. On Monday, it was starting to get late in the afternoon, so I called to find out if the guy was on his way. A recording said my call was noted and I would be receiving a follow-up call. About 10 minutes later, Kim in dispatch called to tell me she had to reschedule the repairman to Wednesday. I explained I already had an appointment on Wednesday. which was already changed because it conflicted with the repairman coming to my home. She told me the repairman couldnt come because his truck wasnt safe to drive so that whole day was shot. The appointment was rescheduled for Wednesday and I had to again reschedule my other trip. When the guy finally showed up on Wednesday, he told me to put a glass of water in the microwave and start it. Ten seconds later, he declared it to be the magnetron tube. He was at my house about 10 minutes, just long enough to take my $99.95 credit card payment and to give me an estimate of $246.90 to repair the microwave which included the free magnetron tube, a $20 part plus tax and labor. The estimate had instructions on how to get the $100 coupon if I decided to buy a new GE microwave, which he said is what most people do. He didnt seem like he came prepared to repair the microwave at all. I was so frustrated and already out the $99.95, so I told him to go ahead and repair it. He said I should call repair to schedule him to come back to repair it! I told him to just repair it now and he said he didnt think he had a magnetron tube in his truck. I asked him if he would go to the truck and check! He did, and nope, no tube and he left.I think this is a great scam GE and maybe others have going. Its entrapment. They get you to accept a repairman to come to your home and charge you nearly $100 for it, but give you a coupon for $100 for a new one but it has to be a GE and can only be bought from their website where they can go as high as $500 or $600. By the way, I got on the website to find a replacement. My model had been discontinued and the only one in my price range was also a discontinued model. They charge $75 to come out to install it and another $30 to take away your old one. I called local appliance stores to see if I could unload my old microwave for parts and they all said the same thing: stay away from GE products.

I purchased a GE Profile stocks in 2007 and a GE microwave model JVM7195SK1SS purchased 12/30/16. We have replaced the knobs on the stove 2 times because of peeling in the past. Now we need to replace the microwave handle. The handles and knobs look like metal but they are cheaply made white plastic covered with a sharp silver coating that peels. It appears the knobs get overheated when the oven opens and the microwave handle from the steam when cooking on the stove. Last night I cut my hand on the handle! We reordered the faulty handle and now getting charge $100 from GE. The company should take responsibility for their poor design and replace it for free with a nonpeeling part. I know that we will get the same handle and won’t be able to use the burner below or hope that using the fan will keep it from cracking again. I would never recommend a GE product again.

We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? Fyi - My Panasonic Microwave in our basement is working fine.... and has for years.

Fact no. 1: On 02/25/07, I supplanted a burnt-out 12-year old Kenmore microwave oven. Regretfully, my replacement of choice is a GE JES1456WJ02 unit acquired at Home Depot in Cumberland. At that stage, my spouse was afflicted with an advanced case of Parkinsons disease, and eventually, I had her concerned caregiver reporting having found chips of paint spread on food extracted from the new oven. From that point onward, I established a close watch of the infamous appliance, after confirming that the chipping paint originated from the roof of the GE oven. But I withheld from filing a claim with GE at the time because my wifes health deterioration absorbed all my attention.Fact no. 2: But on 12/12/09, a couple of months after my beloved one passed away, I decided to take the oven to a Home Depot claim department where they immediately agreed to replace the defective unit for another one of similar characteristics. With a sigh of relief, thinking that I had taken care of the problem, my assumption was incorrect.Fact no. 3: Today, 10/28/11 in fact, I discovered chips of paint floating over a plate of soup extracted from the GE oven. I was aghast! I couldnt believe it! Still, further inspection determined that the lousy internal coat of paint is likewise peeling off from this monstrosity appliance manufactured by GE.

Now, the part has failed again, the second time in 2 years, and GE basically said you lose. A rep from GE told me that they only guarantee their products for 1 year. There is no doubt in my mind that all GE products are garbage and I would strongly discourage anyone from buying them. Have a GE dishwasher put into operation June 2016 (new home). In Oct 2016 we noticed a leak and a serviceman came out and identified a loose soap dispenser - tightened it. Next time we used it, leaked as before. Same serviceman came again, this time replaced both the main seal & spinning water distribution wand assembly. Again, the unit leaked and on Dec 14th same serviceman replaced the soap dispenser. Before he got too far down the road, we called as the unit again leaked. He blamed it on excessive soap suds - which he removed manually. Following his departure, we again experienced a leak. Same serviceman returned on Dec 15th. After review, he advised us the DW would be replaced and we should get a call within 48 hrs to arrange. On Dec 17th (still no followup from GE) the DW leaked again - we video this time. On Dec 19th called customer relations and after much discussion it was apparent GE has NO CLUE what the heck they are doing. ONE MORE repair trip was scheduled - this time they would replace the inside and outside panel! We are fortunate to be retired otherwise this repair process would have cost us about $2000 so far! How idiotic is GE?? How much have they spent to avoid replacing this unit? Believe me this is the LAST GE appliance we buy from them. Dont know how they stay in business. We are awaiting the panel repair guy as of this writing. Will update once this service has been completed.

We purchased a GE microwave/convection oven which developed peeling on the inside top of the microwave. GE contacted me and offered a replacement ($300 toward a shelf model or prorate the microwave/oven). Why would we take $300 replacement when we paid nearly $3000 for this oven???? So we took the prorated one directly from GE. We felt confident that we would not have a repeat of the problem. The oven was manufactured in December 2012. After it was delivered, I noticed a rough area on the turntable; and after the oven began to peel AGAIN on the second oven, I believe that the rough area was due to a remanufactured part on the oven. Now we are stuck with another microwave/convection oven combo with the same issues as the first oven. I never used anything harsh to clean the oven and now this happens again. Why cannot this company manufacture an oven that will not have defects in it??? I am tired of peeling paint on a second oven when I have done nothing except pay them for 2 ovens. Why cannot they use stainless steel interiors, and this would stop the many complaints that people make about the product. I would NEVER again purchase another product from this company. The products I have purchased have been inferior. I paid for two microwave/convection ovens and still have one that is inferior!!!!

I purchased a stainless steel GE dishwasher for $508.68 since I remodeled my kitchen October 2016, I contacted GE in March 2017 because the stainless steel on the dishwasher door started to have rust spots, they sent a technician to look at it, they told me that they cannot replace it because the aesthetic warranty is only good for 30 days. They authorized the technician to replace the door, however I have the same issue with the new door, and also the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted them again. The technician was able to fix the dishwasher, but as far as the stains on the door they told me thats an aesthetic issue. They cant do anything about it. I called the consumer relations department. I spoke with CIARA GE case # **. They offered me a small discount and I have to come up with $400.00 to buy a new dishwasher.I feel that a good business should always stand behind its products. The dishwasher obviously is defective, they sold me an appliance that supposed to be stainless steel but its something else, the right thing for GE to do is to exchange the defective product for the right one. I am very frustrated that in less than a year I have to spend over $900.00 for a dishwasher. I am great customer for GE, I remodeled my kitchen, I purchased a GE refrigerator, cooktop, oven, kitchen hood, microwave and dishwasher, I think I deserve better than a small discount for a defective product.

In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

I own a GE over the stove Microwave that spontaneously turned on while I was sleeping. Once the unit was running for a bit, it caught on fire. It melted thru the glass plate before I woke up and was able to remove power from the unit and stop the fire. To GEs credit, they did send a tech out to our place. The tech never did anything to find out what caused the problem. Instead he was just looking to see if the unit was salvageable. He condemned the unit, and GEs solution was a $25 rebate on the next one of their products I would purchase. The liability GE would have been up for if I were not home would have been astronomical. We purchased a GE Model JVM 3160DF3WW microwave oven in October 2016. The handle broke on this unit the first week after we bought it. It then worked fine for 10 months. In August 2017 it began throwing the circuit breaker erratically, then whenever it was turned on and has not worked for a full day since. It has been repaired by Appliance Solutions of Utah at least 6-7 times (by two different technicians) and still has not worked. At least $500 worth of new parts have been put into a $200 microwave by them. After numerous calls to GE, they have offered to send me a Goodwill Certificate for the amount of purchase after I buy another GE microwave. With our experience with this microwave (inoperable and unrepairable for 5 months) I dont intend to buy another GE microwave; especially considering the one available locally is the exact same model as the one we have, which was purchased, from Sears, for $191.42. Appliance Solutions of Utah has all the records of the NUMEROUS unsuccessful repair attempts made on the unit since August 2017. I requested a refund so that a different unit could be purchased. Over the course of the past 5 months I have talked to at least four different customer representatives, after multiple hours on hold. None could find any record of the previous discussions. GEs final suggested solution was to offer us a $100 Goodwill Certificate, the title in itself being ironic. So, after buying a microwave which was defective in the first place, spending $75 to have it installed, being without the use of the microwave for five months, and being told that, GE does not offer refunds, that is what the company feels they should do to rectify the situation. Setting aside an implied warranty of fitness, the fact that the repair agents sent out by GE could not repair the microwave after numerous attempts would seem sufficient grounds to fully refund the purchase price. That is the least a reputable company would be expected to have done. GEs position is that the store selling the microwave would be responsible for a refund; apparently ignoring the terms of the warranty. I this point, I am considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and a claim in small claims court for Breach of Warranty. Obviously, the microwave was never repaired per the terms of the warranty as it is still inoperable and has never worked since the initial report to GE. We will NEVER buy another GE product; Buyer beware!

This review is related to the Monogram 2.2 Cu. Ft. Built-In Microwave Oven model #ZEB1227SLSS. The GE site: https://appliances.monogram.com/us/specs/ZEB1227SLSS indicates in two places that the built-in trim kit is included (and one place where it is listed as additional), yet GE has confirmed that in fact, the trim kit is an optional add-on with a $325 additional cost. Calls to GEs consumer line have been disappointing. Me: Your website says its included, and is in a section with other features that are in fact included but not additional fees; GE: We have confirmed that the trim kit costs extra. We have, in fact, purchased the oven and are awaiting its installation, and I have other experience with GE Monogram appliances so I expect this to operate well. But I cannot understand their reluctance to acknowledge this error on their site. Potential buyers, please beware of this issue.

When the door is closed, it just continues to run--the turntable turns, the light stays on and the fan keeps running. It will respond to instructions, but when we want to shut it off if the door is shut, we have to unplug it--which is a real pain because it is over the range. We have an old microwave that was my wifes parents and it still works fine even though it is about 20 years old. We had some oil spill in the oven, which proceeded to catch fire. It was a huge fire that burned for a while. But all it took was a little oven cleaner, and it looks like nothing ever happened! The coating and materials inside of the oven are completely fine. It also still works perfectly! I'm amazed. 10/10 stars.

I notice when cleaning the inside of the microwave that the coating on the top (ceiling) of the microwave has bubbled and cracked and there is a hole in the interior top coating. This unit is about 9 years old, and is a dual unit as the bottom is a convection oven with very little use. Im told I need to replace the microwave. I have never seen bubbled and cracked interior in many years of owning and using this type of appliance. The photo shows the defects in the lining coating. Im really upset about this.

I like the look of the oven but it took 3 shots to get it right. I had some bad luck with 2 out of 3. It seems the first 2 were damaged. I know many people would have given up but I owned one before this one and the only reason I gave it up was remodeling. The oven worked fine after 5 years. I guess I gambled on past performance and it still paid off. But I am really not sure about the door sometimes because it is a big door and it can seem tinnee and cheap at times. The overall performance is good and the looks are what I was looking for.

We have the dishwasher, fridge and stove from the GE Cafe series. In the 2 years that we have had them, we have become pretty acquainted with the local repair people because there hasnt been one month when all three were working at the same time. The fridge had to be replaced (we lost over $1000 in just food) - the replacement fridge had to be repaired. The customer service is awful. They are just trained NOT to be helpful. GE takes no responsibility for putting out such low quality, high priced appliances. I will never buy GE again and hopefully these reviews can save you the same grief and hopefully money (we have to pay for service repairs). Buy anything but GE, one star - is one too many!

I know this commonplace complaint, like thousands before me, will head straight into the wind because the world just works in this way: technical support and repairs works as a profit center for a corporation. My GE Profile microwave abruptly failed out of warranty after years of use. The cause was due to a wire burning up inside that had not been loosely connected, said the GE technician, so this was an issue of inadequate quality--not bad enough to cause the microwave to fail quickly but enough to cause failure over time. After taking the microwave out of the built-in cabinet, it only took the technician about 5-8 seconds to find and diagnose the problem, several minutes to get the right part (a wire) from the truck, and a couple of minutes to fix it. The labor charge was $121 for about 7 minutes of repair work, to be liberal with time. (This charge is separate from the charge to come to our home and diagnose the problem.) This prorates to over $1,000/hour for a basic wiring change, which I think is exorbitant. I understand that the technician is a highly trained individual, but this is already reflected in the high labor rate.According to GE, the cost to replace the built-in microwave, which came with a matching stainless steel frame would be $550 if we wanted the new microwave to match the frame at least (but not necessarily the oven, stove, etc.). This is the kind of cost you dont think about when you buy a new home built with matching appliances--well, I didnt. Companies like GE can rationalize all they want about all the overhead associated with servicing a repair call. I can certainly grant them some leeway, but in the end, charging an extra 8 times more an already high labor rate given the time needed to fix the problem is simply price gouging a consumer who has no good recourse. (This is why I pretty much avoid repairing anything, except for my car. Its almost never worth it.)I recently had an experience with an experienced plumber charging an hourly rate of $150, prorated by and rounded up to half-hour increments of work, regardless of difficulty of work. Repairing an appliance should work the same way, and my GE bill would have been halved. Because of such profiteering, I will not consider purchasing a GE appliance in the future. I pray that this microwave doesnt break down again in the coming years due to some other problem. It would be a lot less expensive to just buy a non-matching portable microwave then for $100-$150 than to keep up appearances. To be fair, the woman who fielded my service call was courteous and empathetic. Because the microwave apparently had an electrical burning problem, she previously waived the diagnosis fee. Otherwise, my simple repair would have run several hundred dollars, more than the cost of the microwave. However, she was unwilling to reduce the labor charge, so based on how strongly I felt ripped off, I give GE a star rating overall.

I purchased a GE dishwasher, stove and refrigerator in December 2012. All 3 appliances have broken, needed parts (which were also broken) and I still have appliances that arent working appropriately. The dishwasher door broke and it doesnt clean or dry well. The induction stove (the main burner) doesnt work and the replacement part was delivered to my house and that was delivered broken. The fan in the refrigerator broke and still remains broken. I have had nothing but headaches since the day the appliances were delivered. I would not recommend GE appliances.

I purchased the model (PEM31SM1SS) GE Profile (Spacesaver oven) in November of 2008. Less than a year later, it overheated and failed. Since it was still under warranty, the repair was managed by the appliance vendor. The scorch mark on the rear wall of the oven was and is still there. During the past year, the paint on the interior roof began to bubble and peel. There is now a broad area of exposed metal and the paint around the interior door frame is also peeling. When I returned to my vendor, I was informed that several other customers had the same issue and was told to call GE. I also checked online and found many other complaints for the same thing. When contacted, GE offered me a $75 rebate voucher, applicable only if I buy another GE microwave. The current price for this model - the only one anywhere that fits the space - is $279. Even with the voucher, this is still a lot to pay for a product that has proved to be defective. GE does not appear to stand behind its products. It used to be a reliable company but given the issues Ive had with both this microwave and my expensive dishwasher, I will be looking elsewhere in the future.

Bought a GE microwave and arranged to have it installed. Kept it in sealed box for 3 days until installer appointment. Opened box to find a crease (dent) in door. I phoned in to the GE warranty depot and they informed me that I only had 48 hours to report and as such was out of luck. They indicated that it is clearly stated in the Appliance Manual under the warranty section. Too bad that the Manual was in the sealed box. No warning on the outside of the box. On top of that the individual that I spoke to at the Warranty Depot was very rude. No more GE Appliances for me. Be forewarned.

6/11/2014. My microwave of 5 years the GE Adora starting to act strange. It would start to hum and the panel light would light up. The humming would only stop if I opened the door. Sometimes it would stop on its own. But today the humming kept continuing and I thought it was harmless until I heard a loud pop in the microwave and smelled something burning. The microwave glass turntable had exploded from intense heat inside the microwave. It was bizarre. Immediately I ran over and unplugged the microwave hood. In all the years and houses I own, this is the most expensive microwave I have purchased and it has lasted me the least amount of time! Microwaves shouldnt start on their own and thankfully I was home when it did. Otherwise my house would have burned down.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. On the new Profile dishwasher, the water inlet valve stuck open and flooded our home. Tech said we may as well have had a hose on full blast all night. Word to the wise, do not turn your dishwasher on and go to bed or leave the house! 7 1/2 hours later we woke to a completely flooded downstairs. When we were researching whether or not there were other complaints on that model dishwasher, we noticed there had been a recall for fire hazard ON THE NEW DISHWASHER! Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. We chose a Bosch for our new dishwasher.

At 4 pm when I was wondering if I would see a repairman I attempted to find on the internet a phone number that would connect me to a live person but had no luck. Month Long Dish Washer Installation from Hell (Try #3 the best).Install Try 1 (I took off work for): Oops, I ordered the wrong hose. I am going to have to come back next week to install. I will call you and set something up. (installer). Next week Friday: Hello is this GE Installation services Umm its Friday and the guy never called or showed up this week to install my dishwasher I just purchased??!? (me). We then set up a time for the following week. How unprofessional.Install Try 2 (I took off work for): Umm still didnt bring the right hose. Can you go to Home Depot for me and buy the right one and bring it back? (installer). Ahh No!?! This is your problem not mine. (me). Well I will have to come back then. (installer). You have to be kidding me. I have to take another day off work?!? (me). Finally he gets a guy to come with the correct hose. Umm, can I borrow a screw driver and some tools from you?(installer). You have to be kidding me, sure? (me). Installer proceeds to drop the sides and fumble around banging the pieces on my NEW floor. Finally getting it installed. It doesnt look right. Dont the feet raise up and shouldnt the dishwasher be flush to the cabinets????!? and it looks crooked?? (me). Nope. (installer). I file a complaint and the guy removes my $60 install fee and sends another team out to fix it.Install Try 3 (I took off work for): 3 guys come and re-install dishwasher worse than the guy before them. From the other room you hear banging around and Oops, I broke a screw etc... This is what happens afterwards. Umm the plastic backing and sides are showing. Its pushed out farther than it was from the first guy. It definitely is NOT supposed to look like that. Plus its loose??? (me). Best we can do. Bye. (install team). This doesnt seem right....(me). Oh no, its leaking!!!!!!!!!!!! (me). So I called a plumber to come ASAP as I said before its NEW wood floor. New Plumber NOT associated with GE or Home Depot (who I probably will be getting a nice bill for calling last minute) proceeds to fix my dishwasher for the next 4 hours...Here is a small list of problems: 1) its leaking; 2) the foot vibrated off; 3) screws broke off; 4) damage to hose; 5) bottom plate installed at angle not even remotely level; 6) scratched up floor and cabinets; 7) installed too far forward and too low. This is the list. So far we still are trying to figure out where it is leaking from and if the dishwasher even will work. Thank god I actually got a Professional this time unlike GE/Home Depots teams. I then called GE Install services 1-800-432-7167 again and this is what they had to say: We already refunded you the 60 dollars. There is nothing we can do but we will file your complaint. I called again to speak with a manager and after a long conversation, he gave me $62 off my order. -- And let me tell you that is not going to cover the cost of the plumber I just hired to fix your mess. Not to mention the 3 days off work I took. Irritated I hung up. I bought a fridge, cook top, and double oven with GE along with this dishwasher. I wish I hadnt given them my business. Apparently, I am supposed to call back if the dishwasher doesnt work when my plumber is done working on it. Oh I WILL be calling back, you can bet on it. As for now I just hope he finds the leak... Moral of the story is NEVER use the install services they offer. You are better off getting your own plumber from the start.

We purchased a new General Electric (GE) Adora microwave model DVM1850SM4SS
We purchased a new General Electric (GE) Adora microwave model DVM1850SM4SS from Home Depot for approximately $355.00 in 2010. It was manufactured in Malaysia and had been in use for 2 years and 9 months before the magnetron failed. I spoke with a GE Customer Care representative on two occasions, and she said that the best that GE could do was split the cost of parts and labor since the 1 year warranty had expired. We had not purchased the extended warranty believing at the time that a microwave generally lasts for many years, and GE had always made quality products and would stand behind them. I indicated that I wanted to have the problem properly diagnosed by the service rep recommended by GE before proceeding further. The 10-minute service call bill set us back approx. $100.00. It would cost at least another $170 to replace the magnetron if we used the service tech contracted by GE. For $270, I believe we could find a fairly nice new microwave. I looked at alternative options for repair or replacement, since I am rather partial to the looks of the over the range stainless steel Adora. The model we have is no longer manufactured, but GE now offers the 1.9 cu. ft. Adora that Home Depot sells for around $400.00. In my internet research, I noted several postings that indicated that due to the high voltage danger of the magnetron, only trained technicians should attempt repairs. After half a dozen calls, I fortunately learned of a Microwave Service Center close to our residence that could replace the magnetron. After taking it down from above the range, hauling it in for repair and paying the approx. $104.00 bill and hauling it back to our residence to mount on the wall, we have a microwave that should work for a while! Total cost including service call for diagnosis - $204.00. Considering that GE does not wish to stand behind the quality of their products, I would not be likely to purchase a GE product again.

We moved into our new manufactured home in May of 2013. That is the month our above range built-in GE microwave was installed. In October of 2013, one of my sons heated a frozen chicken cordon bleu serving for 3 minutes, 45 seconds, according to packaging directions. He said that some of the inside of his food was cool, so my other son put in his serving for four minutes, zero seconds. All of the packaging was removed and each serving was placed on a separate Corelle plate and covered with Glad microwave-safe plastic wrap. While heating the second serving, the microwave started on fire. Fortunately, my son extinguished the fire before it spread. The food did not combust. The fire seems to have started from the ceiling behind the fan. The entire inside of our microwave is clean except for the soot that billowed out from the center of the ceiling. When the service tech came, he scrubbed the soot off of the ceiling with some paper napkins (which he left inside of the unit) and said that the microwave was a total loss. He also said the fire was caused by misuse, because plastic wrap is not meant to be used in the microwave, therefore even though the fire happened within a year of purchase and installation, our warranty was void. I asked GE to get a second opinion and they agreed to send a third party servicer (A&E) who stood me up three times! I finally got to schedule a GE tech to come at the end of December and they sent the same guy who said the fire was our fault! He told me that he never said plastic wrap is not meant for the microwave, but that we are being dishonest because fires only start when the food is left in the microwave for too long. He accidentally let it slip that he is seeing the same problem with GE microwaves in a lot of new construction for student housing in Tallahassee. (We live 20 minutes south of there.) He attempted to recover GEs reputation afterward by saying that of course it was the students faults, too, for misusing the microwave units. Anyway, GE has graciously offered to sell us a new microwave at slight discount. Haha, no thank you!

Today the Microwave will NOT seem to shut off after it beeps from cooking/warming up food and the door is open then closed. I close the door and it starts to hums. If food is in it, you can see it is still cooking. I open the door, and then close it again and it starts to Humming as soon as the door closes. The glass tray does not turn, nor does the light go on (when humming) as it does when you actually push the start button. If you do start it, everything works, that is the table turns, light goes on and it cooks/warms food etc. Then it beeps when done, you open the door to remove items, close the door, and again just starts humming.I unplug it for an hour, but as soon as you plug back in, again.. Hums until you open the door. I put a cup of water in it, and just closed the door, did not push the start button. After about 40 seconds, the water started to boil.

I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

Our dishwasher has gotten very warm mid-cycle and now trips the breaker in the house each time we run the cycle. The problem became evident in April 2012. We have called in a GE repair person to fix it and they said it was a heating issue and not repairable. We have not used it since, but have not replaced it with a new one yet. In August, we read about the recall of a similar model number manufactured within same time frame. Our machine model is PDW7300J03WW, the recalled model is PDW7. Our machines serial # is **. Strangely, the serial number is not listed in the recall, even though symptoms are exactly the same!We have called GE Consumer Affairs at 1-800-386-1215 four times, the most recent today, 9/14/2012. Each time we call, we are left on hold for 59 minutes only to be disconnected automatically! I am sending a registered letter to GE CA with a copy of this link and intend to contact my local news if I do not receive sufficient response within the week. Dont buy one. I bought two last year. The first one completely died before the 60 days were up. I took it back to Sams club and bought another. The tag inside says it was made February 2011, so its only a year and a half old. Under the carousel, the paint is peeling big time. I wrote GE repeatedly, asking if it was still ok to use it. After ignoring me for quite some time, I got this reply. In the notice, they told me to get Sams club to replace the defective and apparently unusable product they are selling knowing it is defective. I love the part where you cant cook something with too much liquid in it. Who does that when they microwave?Heres what they said: Thank you for contacting GE regarding your microwaves and the paint peeling issue. I did some research on it and found that it a common issue among all brands. Excessive heating of un-covered liquids can create a high amount of condensation that the inside paint is not meant to withstand. Minor chips to the coating on the microwaves interior cavity will not affect the products performance. However, if the coating is actively flaking or peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable), discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. GE does not have an approved method of repair, and the microwave is not repairable. Please return to Sams club for an exchange, if you are still within the one year warranty. If Sams is refusing to accept the return, contact the Sams Club Support Team at 1-877-885-2787. GE will then reimburse Sams club.

I bought the GE microwave from a GE dealer. We were very impressed that it is also a convection oven. It bakes, microwaves and even toasts bread. The oven had not disappointed us any way. I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a microwave.

I purchased a GE microwave, model LVM1750DPWW, in 2012. It was delivered approximately 12/6/2012 and was installed in July 2013 after our kitchen remodel was complete. In March 2014, my daughter was warming something on the rack when the back upper rear hook started sparking and caught fire. I am thankful the only damage was to the microwave and to the smell in the house for a few days. When I called Lowes and GE, they act like theyve never heard of this issue. Yet, I see many other complaints of the hooks catching fire. Just to be sure, I turned on the microwave again. The hook started sparking immediately. GE sent a repairman to the house who told me that GE ought to let people know not to leave the racks in the oven. Since she was cooking on the rack, it would be difficult not to have the rack in the oven. He said the oven was a safety concern, could not be repaired and that GE would bring out a new microwave and install it for me. Great! I was pleased - yet concerned. A couple days later, I received an email from GE customer service saying that we had put the rack in the oven incorrectly. There is NO way to have put it in incorrectly. Besides that, he couldnt have seen if this was true since the hook was burnt and melted. I am pretty angry.

Our microwave caught fire today and burned our kitchen, stove top, & attic. According to the Fire Captain, the cause of the fire was the GE microwave panel shorting out. Had my mom not been standing right there as it happened, our entire house would have surely been a loss.

Today my GE black microwave with rack mounted above the stove, caught on fire by itself. My husband and I smelled a chemical like smoke. We went in the kitchen and we saw fire in the microwave. We put out the fire and was thankful that we were home. If we were not home our house would have burned to the ground. The microwave was not in use at the time of the fire. I plan to contact GE about this dangerous event. My asthma has gone crazy since this horrible situation happened. I just want to let people know that GE microwave will catch on fire without being in use.

Its a over the range model & came with a house purchase. It’s worked flawlessly for over 5 years now - even after being left with no air conditioning in FL for months on end. The only thing I could think to make it better is making it easier to choose longer length cook times. Button for half min & dial for all the rest can be irritating for your 16 min food.

The looks are ok. It works great, not too noisy. Wouldn’t mind replacing it with a different color and apparel. It fit great over the oven and is a space saver. Cleans up well, not too hard to clean. Not sure of the exact price, but I remember it was very cost efficient

I purchased the unit just over a year ago and it started beeping one night with error scroll speed and then key pad shorted. In the end to repair costs more than to replace, even though it is above stove mounted unit. Do not buy a GE Microwave. Especially model # JVM6172DF1WW.

We have a GE SpaceMaker JVM 239BV 001 over the range microwave purchased about 10 years ago. Within one year of installation the handle snapped - just as numerous people here have stated. I went to our local replacement parts store and was shocked that it cost $30 for a new handle. The sales person said if I were you I would by the lifetime warranty for an extra $3 because you will be back, I sell lots of these.

Negative 5 stars. I purchased a GE over the range microwave oven, JVM2052SN1SS, just over a year ago and had a service call to address a lack of exhaust about a month after my purchase. In summary, the tech said it would not function as a dedicated exhaust hood and nothing can be done. 14 months later, the key pad began malfunctioning. Also, the moisture sensor that the operation manual stated will automatically start the exhaust fan, never worked and every time we cook, moisture would build up between the glass on the microwave door.I called GE Consumer Relation today and they will not address this issue free of charge. I will not purchase another GE product because GE dont stand behind their products.

We bought the countertop stainless steel microwave model JES1142SJ the end
We bought the countertop stainless steel microwave model JES1142SJ the end of 2010. Noticed a rust ring under the revolving paint about a month ago. The paint was chipped off and when I washed it with a dish cloth, more came off. It is getting worse. We didnt stop using it since it seems it is only coming off under the plate but is it safe to continue using? Could it catch fire? Is it putting bad things in the food we heat in it? Even though it is not an expensive microwave ($100-$125) it should not be rusting inside. It should last longer than 3 years!Sounds like GE will not back up their products since so many microwaves owners are complaining about the paint being inferior and flaking off. There should be a recall for this problem on all microwaves sold by GE. Complaints have been from countertop to the most expensive dual stoves! This is not acceptable and GE needs to step up and deal with the problem with their microwaves that they sell. I usually buy GE; but this is making me have 2nd thoughts and think that my ones I bought in 2010 will be the last purchased from GE.They did come out twice for my range when the oven stopped working at 2 years and one of the eye knobs to turn on and off needed to be replaced when it would not turn off. But a 2 year old stove should not have needed any repairs. I noticed a big difference in quality after I bought this new one when we moved. My old GE from 1996 is still my favorite one and is still working just fine in my sons house.

A week ago I placed a microwave dish in the microwave oven. The second rack was in place with the small microwave dish on it. When it started I noted flames from the rack bracket. The plastic on the rack had melted. I removed the rack and have not replaced it. This morning I place a microwavable cup in to reheat the coffee, and once again flame erupted.I am calling GE but wanted to let people know of this problem. I have had this appliance for a month. GE sent out a repairman. I overheard him tell someone that when there was cavity they considered it not repairable. Whomever he spoke with asked for pictures and from that deemed it repairable. I would not let them repair it as a fire with flames hot enough to melt the bracket and burning an opening in the inside shell is not something I want in my home. I received no satisfaction from GE as they just follow the Party line, I doubt any of them would want to take my repaired oven in their homes. I will dispose of it and purchase a new one from a different company.

GE built-in oven with microwave on top in white color, model no. JKP90CMICC
GE built-in oven with microwave on top in white color, model no. JKP90CMICC. Microwaves outside door is peeling off in chunks. This is a manufacturer defect and I have contacted GE to see if they will stand behind their products quality and replace this door of the microwave. I have heard so many negative things about GE customer service so I dont have much hope but I have to pay to replace this poorly constructed door. I will never buy another GE product and I will spread the word on how they treat their customers. I will post again when and if I hear back from them.

I purchased a GE microwave from Best Buy about a year ago. Every time I wipe it clean, white paint chips come off the inside. This cannot be safe for me or my children. I did contact the company and they were of no help at all. They said that because I heat up liquids in the microwave, this will happen. Duh! I would not recommend purchasing a GE product of any kind (oven, fridge, etc). Their customer service is awful and their products do not last.
