Our GE Spacemaker XL microwave stopped working on 7/11/12. We purchased our house in January 2000 with the microwave included and have not had any problems with our microwave, until yesterday, when we woke up and tried to pop the kids breakfast in for a quick heat and it made a strange humming noise and you could smell plastic melting. All power was quickly turned off to the unit. Now to find a replacement for this built-in microwave is going to be a problem. The local technician stated the blower motor we need is no longer available. Thanks, GE, for at least 12 years of excellence. We are now looking for a similar replacement.

My GE Adora microwave is about 6 years old and for the last year it has had an issue with moisture in-between the glass front door. It was streaky and now I have cloudy blotches. Called GE repair and it would cost close to $90 just for service call not including parts/labor. Think twice before purchasing this microwave. Not a happy consumer.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

I needed a microwave, and researched a lot of brands, some the buttons quit working, others sparked. Found this GE on sale at Lowes about 4 years ago for $29.00 and so far I am very happy with it. I must admit it is a little big, but it works beautifully. It does fit on the counter, so for its size and the price it is a great deal!!!

I purchased a new GE over the oven microwave to replace a 10-year old Spacemaker unit. After three weeks of use with no issues, the unit overheated excessively during a normal use. The heat was so intense that the pegs that hold the racks melted causing a severe burn on my sons thumb. I unplugged the unit fearing further injuries and/or fire. Are GE products manufactured poorly or did I get a lemon? Who knows? Anyone else have a similar issue? I am still waiting for GE to respond.

The WORST Customer Relations Department & GE Dishwasher EVER 1. Ordered dishwasher & Scheduled Delivery. 2. After my 4 hour window of waiting, I was called and informed the installation needed to be cancelled due to the installer calling in sick. 3. During installation, they dropped my dishwasher & dented the door. I rejected the dishwasher as my other one was already hauled out. 4. Due to my hectic work schedule, my dishwasher was installed about 2 weeks later. 5. Dishwasher was not cleaning. 6. Technician came out another week later and I was told it was MISSING parts from the manufacturing plant and should have never passed QC. In addition, It was missing the bottom spinner and the top spinner was snapped off. The technician glued it back on.7. Called Customer Relations to get the runaround saying, its not their fault it came from the manufacture missing parts. In closing, I own a large apartment complex and have many BUSINESS friends. I will NEVER buy a GE product EVER again and to think of all the people I know, Im going to share my horrid experience with everyone I know. This will make great conversation when golfing too.

My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

2 year old GE ADORA dishwasher - I am so disturbed tonight after seeing what happened to the protection rubber that is on the exterior of my dishwasher. I decided to buy a new dishwasher because the bottom tray would not stop when pulled out at the correct stopping point. Today I got my new dishwasher installed and when the installers pulled the old one out I was shocked to see that the protectant that I would assume was placed to protect my house was melted all over my wall behind the dishwasher. WOW. Talk about a MAJOR fire hazard. Thank God my house didnt catch on fire because of this faulty equipment. Check out my pictures and you will see the pile of protectant that was under, on my wall, and behind the dishwasher once it was pulled out. Sincerely concerned.

I bought a GE Adora dishwasher from Home Depot. There is nothing technically wrong with it - in other words - it is not malfunctioning. It is just that its normal operation is AWFUL, in my opinion. The PROS: it is very quiet. The CONS: it does not clean your dishes! And since this is the primary function of a dishwasher - I would say it is a complete failure. Originally, I had hard water, and I thought that was probably the issue. I purchased a whole home Kinetico system, which remove almost all particulates from the water, and makes bottled-water-quality drinking water. (On a side-note, I would TOTALLY recommend the Kinetico system!) But even after having the water issues fixed, the dishwasher has NEVER worked properly. I have used every type of dishwasher detergent, including Cascade Complete & Platinum, Finish Ultra & Quantum Powerball... and I have also added rinse agents etc. Basically - whatever state your dishes are in when you put them IN the dishwasher, they will only be slightly improved when you remove them. Even if you SOAK the dishes first, they come out with all kinds of residue. It does an especially horrible job on glassware, but silverware is also terrible. And I have to re-wash by hand every coffee cup that comes out. I truly loathe this machine, and will replace as soon as I do enough research about a better brand & model.

I purchased a GE microwave from PC Richard and Son in 2011. The microwave is mounted above the oven. On March 13, 2013, the microwave (model JVM1750DP1WW) sparked a fire inside while my daughter cooked a waffle. After I contacted GE via email, the case manager (Misty) sent a technician to my home to inspect the microwave. This was free of charge. The technician claimed the microwave was able to be repaired and he needed to order touch up paint and a few parts. I was shocked that the tech claimed this was a simple repair and able to be fixed. I said, You need touch up paint? This is going to look horrible. How safe can this be after having a fire inside? He claimed it will look good and I would not notice the paint. I spent $411.00 on this microwave less than 2 years ago. I dont think I should have it fixed and touched up with paint to cover burn marks. The microwave went on fire. I dont want it fixed. Its not safe and should be scraped for safety regulations, not repaired and touched up inside with paint. The tech ordered a few parts and I immediately called the case manager Misty to stress to her my numerous concerns on the actions of the technician. I made clear that I was not satisfied with my microwave being fixed and painted when it went on fire, but would like a replacement. I told her I could understand fixing it if it was a broken part or electronic device, but not a fire. She agreed that she also would not like to have a fixed microwave in her home, but that GE can sell me one at a lower price of $150.00. Really, do they need the money that bad that they cant stand behind a dissatisfied consumer when their product went on fire? This could have been so much worse. Lucky my daughter was in the next room. She smelled, heard the fire and stopped the microwave. I paid the $150 just so I can have a working, new, safer microwave in my kitchen. But this is crazy and not good business ethic on GEs behalf. This should be set as a recall, not a repair. I contacted the service manager again stressing my complaint and feelings about paying this fee for a new microwave. She said again that if the technician says the microwave can be fixed, then theyll listen to the technician and fix the item. Well this seems a little one sided since the technician works for GE. No brainier. What do you think he is going to say?

New house and all appliances came w/ it, used washer once to make sure plumbed correctly. It is the best storage container and no one looks in it... by not using it saved $38 a month in water bill and controlled water usage, throwing used water out on plants in drought, if need to sterilize put bleach in rinse water. I had 10 family members may have to use it other than for storage. Love to get a clothes pole for hanging laundry but God given rights of free sun and drying has been removed from us by associations. My machine is there if I need it. But great multipurpose and never complains... course after 13 years, crumbs in bottom and should run soon to clean it out... Its black and as this was a speculation home, builders chose colors... it doesnt show dirt as white appliances does... would buy same color again.. although real dark with oak kitchen.

I also bought a stove as well as the dishwasher. We Told them with great concern to put a extra warranty on the more expensive item, which was the dish washer... more could go wrong. We all agreed, including sales person. Day before the first year, the dish washer was not draining good. They said the warranty was running out. I told them, I had got extra yr warranty. The robot voice said it might be over. The repairman came in, and said the same thing. The repairman replaced everything in the dishwasher. It took him 3 visits. He got it working. He claimed there was an extra orange ball in the part and that why it didnt drain well.I started using it for 2 weeks and it stop draining completely. When I bought it the salesperson said, See I added the extra warranty on. But unbeknownst to me, she put it on the stove... How the heck am I supposed to know she did it wrong. I call the company and they said, Look at your receipt. And sure enough, it was on the stove. Looking at it and how the salesperson made it sound, it was understood by all that the warranty was on and I had an extra yr on the dishwasher... I looked at the receipt. Had a list of what I bought the warranty and we were good to go. Everything was replaced in it, everything. It was a mechanical issue and yet here it sits not working and I havent even paid for it. I am disabled and was give a lemon. I would never recommend a GE anything. This was a first... I usually buy Whirlpool and never ever had a problem... Theyre selling lemons and they know it.

A week ago I placed a microwave dish in the microwave oven. The second rack was in place with the small microwave dish on it. When it started I noted flames from the rack bracket. The plastic on the rack had melted. I removed the rack and have not replaced it. This morning I place a microwavable cup in to reheat the coffee, and once again flame erupted.I am calling GE but wanted to let people know of this problem. I have had this appliance for a month. GE sent out a repairman. I overheard him tell someone that when there was cavity they considered it not repairable. Whomever he spoke with asked for pictures and from that deemed it repairable. I would not let them repair it as a fire with flames hot enough to melt the bracket and burning an opening in the inside shell is not something I want in my home. I received no satisfaction from GE as they just follow the Party line, I doubt any of them would want to take my repaired oven in their homes. I will dispose of it and purchase a new one from a different company.

I moved in to a newly-built home in Nov. 2010. Shortly after, my GE Profile microwave seemingly caught fire. We called for service and were offered a repair free of charge. We declined a repair and did receive a brand new appliance of the same model. Around June 2012, the exact same fire happened to the new one. I must admit that it took me about 9 months to report the problem because my family had been devastated with a lengthy illness and passing of my mother. While going through our trial, I shut down my mothers apartment and just started to use her countertop microwave. Realizing that I needed to address the problem with my microwave, I called and explained this to GE service. I guess that the representative was just doing her job and stated the year warranty spiel and had no concern of this being my second microwave within a two and a half year span and also the length of time that it had not been working. I was immediately given the cost for a serviceman to come out plus I was told that I would have to pay for any parts. When I went to Home Depot to price the microwave; the cost for my model was $278. I therefore decided. Why bother to have a defected model repaired? Who needs the aggravation? I will just eat my loss and buy another microwave. Be assured that it will not be a GE. I will never again buy a General Electric product.

Model #JVM1790SK01. High end GE Profile microwave/convection oven. Purchased and installed in 2009. First off the exhaust fan is terrible and is very noisy. The product itself worked well until recently when now the microwave heats intermittently, one time it will come on and heat, next time nothing. The fan runs, but no heating. The truly frustrating part is I need the front venting and no other units have the vents that blow the air outward, all the new units blow the air straight up your cabinets. Certainly a high end unit should last longer than 5 years with only two adults using it now and then. The cost of the service is outrageous and I surely would not use the $100 rebate on another GE product if they do not last any better than this one.

Throw at the bottom of the washer. One of the arms keeps falling down. And the last time I was told I could return it and get a deal on a better machine. Our extremely competent handyman could not figure out how to do it and called GE for help at 800 636-2005. He was rudely dismissed and was told to look for instructions on Youtube! My GE refrigerator is almost 30 years old. It's not a frost-free refrigerator, but frost build-up has not been a big problem. I usually defrost it twice a year. I have had no problems with it over the years, other than the light bulb burning out. I would certainly buy a GE refrigerator again.

The dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded our home. The dishwasher continued to run even with the door open and the display showing “leak detected”. We had started it before we left the house and it had been running for about 20 minutes when we left. When we came home hours later, hot water was still being produced by the dishwasher and had flooded our kitchen and basement. We could not stop the dishwasher with buttons at that point and had turn off electrical and water supply to it. The absolute worst part is they will not replace or refund it even though it’s less than six months old. They are only offering to service it and expect me to continue using it.

I was sitting on my couch and I heard something running. I walked into the kitchen and saw my GE Profile microwave was running. At first I doubted myself and thought maybe I did something and then I cleared it out and went and sat back down. It did it again and again several more time. This is very scary. It was running like someone had set it and it was getting hot inside. Im not sure what else to do. The last time I had the same type of problem and just bought a replacement microwave and now this one is doing the same.

I just dont know how to start to show how disappointed and upset Im about this Microwave. I know GE is good brand but this Microwave must be the worst. I bought this microwave between July or August in 2016. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt. I bought a cash at Home Depot in my area, because I bought it cash Home Depot unable to find a record of but they remembered I did buy there between that time. I know bought that time because I bought my house in July 20116. This microwave started giving problems since June 2017. When I call GE they told me, they cant help because I dont a receipt, and they told from their record, this microwave was purchase in January 2015, they didnt want to believe that I purchased it in 2016.They charged over $100 to have a technician to come, he has to order a part that cost as well over $100, when the part comes another technician came. It was the wrong part. He had to order another part. The technician came back and Microwave work for only 1 or 2 months and stop working. Its been very stressful with this Microwave. This microwave was the most expensive, I bought over $500-600. Even though from your record you said I bought it in 2015, it still unfair, no one expect to buy something that expensive and break down that fast. I dont what to do. Im just so frustrated about the whole situation. This microwave cost me about $ 1,000 now from price to repair, and yet still not working. I wish someone reply to me and help me, if no one help I never wish to buy a GE product. So Sad GE, I need HELP.

My GE dishwasher was installed the first week of October, 2019. After 3 loads, the unit was no longer functioning properly. I called GE to set up a service appointment to get them to come look at the dishwasher. It ended up taking 3 different technicians, ordering 3 different parts, at 3 different appointments before the problem was fixed (or so I thought). By the time I was able to use my dishwasher again, it was already the end of December and my 30 day return window expired. It is now mid January and I am already having the same problem as before and having to go through the whole process again. Because the year warranty is only for repairs, they will not just replace the unit, and instead I will have to continue dealing with this nightmare. Obviously, I will just be replacing my unit on my own after this.... And it will not be with GE!

We bought a suite of Slate GE appliances during kitchen remodel 2 years ago. Weve had the dishwasher, model GDT580SMF2ES, motor replaced twice now and it is still loud and stops intermittently. Thank goodness we have the extended warranty! The over stove microwave is now starting to run when we just shut the door and stops intermittently. Were ready to replace everything with a reliable brand and cut our losses. We will never buy GE again.

I bought a brand new house and it came with the set of GE profile appliances in 10/2009. In November of this year, it came on for one minute on its own and then popped and indicated a circuit board failure. The inside of the microwave was extremely hot and there was obviously an electrical short. This could have burned down my house! My fiance replaced the circuit board at a cost of $125. I negotiated from the service department that supplied all my builders appliances. This week it happened again. This time, there was a cup of coffee in the microwave and it boiled in the minute before the microwave fried itself! I cant believe that GE still has this product on the market! Any product on the market! I have to replace this because I cant sleep thinking its going to catch my house on fire. Are there no ethics anywhere?

Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

Does not clean well nor dry well even on the more powerful cycles. I rinse off all the food and if anything is accidentally missed, it just gets baked on. Very disappointing. Also much of the upper rack item remain very wet at the end of the cycle. Drying issues: I use the most powerful drying cycle option but contents remain wet at the end of the cycle, especially plastics and top rack utensils. Not just damp, but large drops of water remain. Cleaning issues: Even when I use the heavy cycle, unless I remove all traces of food from the contents, the food remains and worse, now baked on. This model has a sanitized cycle so basically I use this dishwasher to sanitize only rather than clean, dry and sanitize. Completely unacceptable.

My Quiet Power 3 model GLD4450N10CS didnt clean well from installation (July 2008). But I ran the heavy wash as the norm. And I never used heated dry in case I had to rewash any of the contents. I ran my dishwash last evening. I went out to dinner and returned to a burning smell in my house. I opened my dishwasher and smoke came out. The plastics were melted. The cabinet next to my dishwash smelt of burning as well. The detergent table sat partially dissolved on the bottom of the washer. It took 2 hours to cool down. My dishwasher no longer goes into a wash cycle (even after unplugging it overnight). I have left it unplugged as I feel it is no longer safe. GE says it is $80 for service plus parts. And they said that if I dont repair it, I get $100 certificate to use online to order another GE. Its not worth it and I am very upset. I replaced all my appliance in 2008 with GE. My dryer had to be repaired. My washer was a lemon and they swapped it out for a new model. And now my dishwasher died and almost burned my house down.

I have owned four houses and five dishwashers previously to owning this General Electric Dishwasher. None of my other dishwashers were by General Electric and worked fine. We were super excited to get this GE Profile Cafe dishwasher. Minus the brand, it was the exact design/style as the one my dad has which we love! First issue, dont have a name of a dish liquid if you cant use all of them. Cascade apparently makes different detergent styles for the smart dispense. Dishes were ridiculously dirty and the horrible thing is I couldnt find an answer why on GEs site, I had to go to a handyman site. That was about a month and a half ago. Today, I did the dishes and, of course, let it do its thing. I always have the heated dry on by the way. Well, dinner came and I grabbed some dishes out which were screaming hot and I had to use an oven mitt. I didnt think anything of it because sometimes Im a sissy about that. Well, its now 3 hrs later and I get up to the smell of burning plastic. My first thought was that the sippy cup straw fell on the heating unit. I did not, however, expect to open it and see the Tupperware melting, the silverware rack melting and the water bar to be melting to the heating unit and it being so hot that I have to use an oven mitt just to touch the freaking rack. Oh! And by the way, we bought this off Craigslist last year and it was brand new. It still had the casing around it from the store.

I work as a service tech for a major insurance company. I am a master tech, and master electrician. The company that I work for owns an apartment complex which is used to house company executives whose offices are located at other sites, but often come to the Chattanooga Site to work short term. I was called to repair an old dishwasher in one of the apartments. Upon looking at the existing dishwasher, I decided to replace with a new one. I received a new GE model GDF 510 PGD 1WW dishwasher on November 8, 2013. As usual I unpackaged the appliance and examined the exterior. Finding no visible damage, and with the help of a master plumber, I removed the old dishwasher, and installed the new one. After all the connections were made, I opened the door, removed all the packaging from the dishwasher, and found the upper spray arm lying in disarray in the bottom of the machine. Assuming that this was the way that the machine was packaged, I installed the spray arm, plugged the machine up and started the machine as the operations manual instructed. The machine would not work. The power lamp would burn solid for a few seconds and start flashing. I tried to start the machine a number of times while reading the instructions, and while my partner read the instructions aloud, but with no results. Finally, I used a screwdriver to hold the door switch closed, pressed the start button and the unit started. The catch mounted on the door would not make the door switch, mounted on the machine body. We tried to adjust the switch and the catch, but with no success. The dishwasher did not show any signs of exterior shipping damage, but for some reason the upper spray arm was off and lying in the bottom of the unit, I found a small piece of broken plastic and a screw in the bottom of the machine, and the door switch would not make. Outside that I have no complaints. I am not sure where this machine was assembled, but it certainly was not equal to the machine that we removed. Thanks GE for making my job harder. I will have to find another dishwasher Monday and replace the damaged one, and perhaps send this one back, but the replacement will certainly be another brand.

Run, dont walk, toward any dishwasher other than a GE. Problems with the dishwasher within one year - black residue on my dishes that felt and smeared like grease. Our GE Microwave Oven/Convection Oven Combo (Model: PT970SRSS) is a little over 2 years old. The interior paint on the ceiling of the microwave oven is chipping and bare metal is exposed. In addition, the microwaves glass turntable frequently slips off its plastic tripod base. Circular scratch marks, which also expose the underlying metal are evident in the area which is located directly below the glass turntable. The circular scratches are a direct result of the glass turntable scraping against the paint. The GE repairman said chipped paint is not repairable and that paint should not ever chip in a microwave, let alone a relatively new microwave. After many calls back and forth to the GE Consumer Relations person, we were offered a new combo at a discounted rate of approximately $1,000. (We paid around $2,000 originally.) Im not satisfied with this offer. I strongly feel that consumers should NOT have to pay to replace a defective item. GE needs to pull these defective and dangerous products off the market! Greetings fellow GE Appliances fans! I suppose youre all wondering why I gathered you here, so let me first say this wasnt Plan A, which was to give GE Appliances a quiet and fair opportunity to set things right. After all it is Easter and we should all be grateful for second chances or, in GEs case, fifth chances. Now about halfway through the below some of you are going to wonder why I didnt switch to another brand sooner, but Ive saved that answer for the end because, quite frankly, its the absolute best part of the story. And since most stories have a hero Ill tell you why The Home Depot, where we purchased the GE dishwasher, is the hero of this tale.On Feb 16, 2019 I purchased a new GE Dishwasher which was installed by GE. It subsequently overflowed causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the wood floors in our kitchen and our basement ceiling. GEs technician confirmed the cause was a defective factory drain pump and documented that GE was responsible for the damage. I was instructed to contact Sedgwick, their insurance claims administrator. Well have more on that later. On March 9 I received a 2nd GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect and subsequently overflowed and caused additional damage to our home. I hired an independent plumber who confirmed the installation and home plumbing were fine and that it was, in fact, a defect with the dishwasher. On March 15 I received a 3rd GE dishwasher, however it was damaged during shipment so GE was unable to install. On March 22 I received a 4th GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect, but we caught it in time to prevent another overflow. On April 3 I received a 5th (yes, 5th) dishwasher which worked once (or so we thought) but as it turned out also had the drain defect. We caught it in time to prevent another overflow. We also had an independent plumber confirm (again) there were no issues with the installation or our home plumbing. This included disconnecting the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and pointing it into a bucket. The dishwasher simply would not drain. At this point youre probably thinking how stupid it was for me to keep requesting replacements from GE and you would be correct...which brings me to my favorite part of the story. You see, even though GE refused to switch me to an entirely different GE model dishwasher line despite multiple requests, they promised to compensate us for our inconvenience which would take into account how long we went without a dishwasher (approaching two months now), how much work I missed (numerous vacation days) due to installation and repair appointments, and warned me that if I switched to another brand that their policy was to not compensate.I cant tell you how much they repeatedly emphasized the compensation aspect, so when we finally received what we thought was a working dishwasher I called to request compensation. Their offer was (drum roll...) $25.00. I literally laughed out loud (LLOLd). To be fair, after expressing some slight dissatisfaction with their offer, they raised it some but its not worthy of an additional drum roll.Fast forward to today (Apr 21, 2019) and we still have a defective GE dishwasher in our home and are still washing dishes by hand which, for a family of four, is no small daily task. GE was actually supposed to remove the dishwasher from our home yesterday, but arrived and said they couldnt because our replacement dishwasher (a Bosch...we gave up on GE) had not arrived. They already knew this before they came because: 1. We told them and; 2...wait for it...THEY were the ones supposed to deliver and install it. Weve been courteous, patient, and have done everything GE asked, but have been treated very poorly in return. I will say that most, but definitely not everyone I spoke with at GE Appliances, was polite however none of them seemed to be empowered to truly help us.As for Sedgwick (GEs insurance claims administrator): were still waiting for them to pay for the approximately $18,000 in damage to our home. Our wood floors are turning black and theres now a musty smell in our finished basement. Its been approximately 52 days and Im starting to doubt theyre ever going to pay for the damage to our familys home.Im sure some of you will say youve had GE products for years with no problems, so let me say that Im genuinely happy for you. We were, and somewhat reluctantly still are, a GE family. The last three custom homes weve built, including our current home, all had GE appliances by choice. But in the last five years weve had the original dishwasher in our brand new home break in just three years (heating element) which is what started this replacement debacle, the fan motor on our brand new refrigerator break in just four years costing us several hundred dollars in groceries and a $200 repair bill (and its starting to make the same loud noise again so may fail again soon), and a glass defect in the microwave within two years of purchase. As for the hero of this story, The Home Depot, I simply cant say enough good things about the store and their management team. Even though this was not their fault they apologized, agreed to switch us to another dishwasher brand, and paid the difference in price (even though we volunteered to pay the difference ourselves). They made it clear we were valued and said you are our customer and we are going to help you.GE must have known The Home Depot would do this, because GE is the one who told us to call and suggested The Home Depot might do something for us...something GE apparently wasnt willing to do themselves. For now it seems that GE Appliances not only mistreated our family, but The Home Depot as well. Im not suggesting that you should or should not buy GE appliances, but IF you do and IF its defective and IF it damages your home then buckle up. It may be a long, painful, and stressful ride with no end in sight.

In January 2017 the magnetron broke down, at which time I noticed a piece of plastics protruding inside the microwave through a vent hole on the Magnetron side. I did not take the extended warranty and GE only offered to send a repair man. Since this is an over the stove model venting outside, it had to be repaired or replaced. Checked with the supplier and they estimated a minimum of $ 300 repair cost. Home Depot had model JVM6175DKBB on sale for 249.00, and with delivery, and installation, were talking $ 350.00 to $400.00 to replace. I got in touch with GE Consumer Affairs, and they did eventually agree to provide the JVM6175DKBB for $ 270.00 including installation. They will take possession of the old model, so there wont be any way for me to confirm or deny a manufacturing defect.

Purchased this dishwasher March of 2015. We have had at least five service calls because it does not clean the dishes. Glasses with just water in them when they went in the dishwasher come out dirtier than they went in. Residue is worse on the glasses, but other dishes are not getting completely cleaned. Forget it if something is stuck on, if you dont prewash, you are washing them again. GE has replaced numerous pieces, blamed our water was too hard until they found out we had a water softener and water system and then blamed that instead. We have changed soaps (five different brands), tried every setting in multiple ways, turned off the water system and just had the water softener run, turned everything off and nothing improves the quality of the clean. GE has even refused to pay the service technicians that they GE sent out to repair the dishwasher. Now we cant get anyone to come look at it because they are afraid they wont get paid. We have had three dishwashers prior to this one and have never had an issue with the dishes coming clean. We have maintained that there is not enough water pressure to rinse the dishes, but they are adamant this is not the case. Regardless, the dishes are still not coming clean. All we want is for it to be fixed, replaced or our money refunded. GE customer service is terrible.

My 2-year old microwave and range handle(s) have paint peeling issues. GE has a program to replace the microwave handle. They DO NOT have one a similar program for the range (same paint peeling issue on the range handles/rings). They offer a discount cost for the range handles. I am sending them pictures and another formal complaint.

This is a review from another customer “Not only does this dishwasher do a lousy job of cleaning dishes, I have just found out it allows dirt to collect under the door flange==lots of dirt! There isnt enough hot water to clean this out. Very gross--do not buy.” I agree with this 100%. I have to use Clorox wipes to wipe out this disgusting sludge that builds up under the door flange every couple days. I have to buy a new dishwasher because my dishes smell, are still dirty and very unsanitary. Do not buy!!!! My dishwasher is only 3 years old.

I have purchased a GE microwave/convection oven 7 months ago. A month ago, the control panel broke down and it would not turn on. I called up customer service and a technician was sent after a week. They have diagnosed it and the motherboard needed to be replaced. The said part was ordered and I was told it would be delivered in 2-3 days and a service will be scheduled in a week. A week came and no parts showed up. I have called up customer advocate and they assured me the said part will be delivered in time for the service appointment.Unfortunately, when they came, the said parts have not been delivered and I was given the lame excuse of systems failure; the request has not gone through their system. So the technician assured me that he will put in an overnight request for the said parts and the oven could be fixed within the week. He even gave me his work and cell number for me to call if I have any inquiries. But he never picks up or even returns my calls. So another service appointment was scheduled and parts were delivered, only to find out that it was the wrong parts, supposedly for another customer and for a different microwave model. Its really frustrating when people keep on reassuring that they are going to get it done, but has done nothing but lip service. Its been over a month and my microwave is still a broken microwave. I have learned my lesson and will never again in my life time purchase a GE appliance. PS: I should have listened to the Home Depot guy that sold me this microwave.

If I could give it less than a star, I would. We bought the GE model JEB18600M2WW as a wall insert microwave earlier to replace a 1999 GE of similar version that went out earlier this year. We use it 2-3 times daily, 30 seconds here, 2 minutes there. Today, I went to warm up the babys bottle, and it made a weird sound and went dead. Im sure its the same thing everyone else is complaining about. I wont be buying another GE microwave again.

When we purchased our home it came with GE appliances which was covered under a one-year warranty. My microwave has been broken for nearly 3 months. It is almost impossible to get a service tech to come out immediately. GE customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. They are unprofessional and unreliable. Most of all uneducated about their job. If I could return all of the items in my house that were made by GE back to the seller I would in a heartbeat. The Appliances are poorly made and the customer service is too difficult to deal with it. It’s not worth the money or the Headache... Stay away from GE appliances.

I've always enjoyed GE products for a number of reasons. They are dependable and with care will last many, many years. My refrigerator lasted just over 20 years! My microwave is easy to clean and has never let me down over the years I've had it. GE products just last longer than other brands.

I bought this Microwave JVM3160 on December 2016, after six month the handle door broke but it was replaced as part of the warranty. By January 2018 (no more Warranty) it began tripping the circuit breaker. I change the power source for a dedicate circuit only for the microwave 20 AMP. The microwave blew its own fuse. I replaced its fuse. Then it blew the 20 AMP circuit breaker. That was enough. This microwave went to the garbage after 1 year and 2 month of use.

Purchased GE Dishwasher, Model GDF540HGD488. Its two or three years old and is junk. Top rack rails failing apart, bottom rack sliding rails have melted. Bottom sprayer has melted and wont stay on, incoming water has it bouncing on the bottom of the machine. As the heat dry is in it smells like melting or burning plastic. Dishes are NEVER clean and need re-washing. GE will do nothing, warranty off. Repairman says its just the type it is. Replacing it this weekend with a new Maytag, no way I would ever consider buying another GE product. Worst Dishwasher I ever owned.

After 6 month of leaking brand new dishwasher, 5 appointments of technicians that are lazy and lying on their reports, as well as have no clue what are they doing, with unreachable Case Manager and complete unprofessionalism. This is so far the worst experience in appliance purchase. DO NOT BUY GE APPLIANCES! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY!

Model # JVM1752SP2SS - I have had my microwave for 5 years. Last night, my husband and I started smelling burning rubber. That lasted about 20-25 minutes. Then my husband heard a strange sound coming from the kitchen. When he went to investigate, he found our microwave on fire.

We had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when the house we live in was built and it was one of the ones which were recalled as a fire hazard. We didnt really have any issues with it though, other than it was a bit noisy. With the credit offered, we decided to upgrade to a high end Profile model. The sound proofing is impressive and it was actually hard to tell the unit was on, but that is the only thing you can say that is good about the machine. As a dishwasher, it fails miserably and often items come out dirtier than when they went in. OK, weve struggled on with that for some time now but today, a nasty burnt plastic smell brought us both to the kitchen to investigate. Sure enough, the replacement for the fire hazard was the culprit. Obviously, it will need some serious repairs before it is safe to use once more. Looking through this and other sites, it seems this problem is rife and GE is reluctant to deal with the issues. Well I think that will be our last GE appliance. Thank you very much and rather than throw good money after bad, we will put the repair costs towards another machine ABGE.

We selected this microwave because it has a toaster and baking feature as our small kitchen would be better without a toaster oven taking up space. Turns out user must change accessories from glass to metal when using the toaster and baking feature. The space needed to store accessories rendered the space saving concept as useless. Also, the toasting is slow and does not quite equal what a toaster oven accomplishes. Also the baking/convection mode is so noisy, one cannot hear radio/tv. 30 minutes for a baked potato is a long time for excessive noise. We bought from Kitchen Solutions in the Bronx about May 2014.

My husband and I enjoyed our 1980s White GE Microwave and Stove/oven. But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

We have a GE profile dishwasher for about 14 months. I just found out last week that its out of warranty and that the 2 circuit boards inside are bad so the tech came out and didnt have a replacement board on his truck saying they never have problems with this dishwasher so hell order this part and be shipped to my house. He would install it on the following Thursday so Im sitting here waiting for service. I finally called to find out that GE decided that it is going to be repaired on Friday. I did not know this of course so I asked for a supervisor. I was put on hold with no answers, finally hung up in disgust.

I purchased a GE Cafe Over-the-Range Microwave along with a GE Range. It was delivered on Nov 2009. The control panel started acting up and quit working altogether in May 2011. I called GE and found that the replacement part and repair was almost as much as I paid for the microwave. After talking to several people and making my case, I was told they would give me a discount on replacing my unit. I was to look at microwaves and let them know which one I wanted. I have left several messages and no one at GE will return a call.

Purchased this item online and received delivery on 2/13/15 from P.C Richards. In less than a month after installation of the JVM7195SFSS microwave range oven the keypad stop working making it a useless tool taking space in my kitchen. Ive made more than 4 schedules for repair service. Its now May 15 Ive yet to see a repair person. Here are some of GEs lies for the past three months: GE parts were in back order; the service person claimed I wasnt home; I didnt pick up the phone. Even an appointment on my Sabbath was botched by the service person. While homebound recovering from surgery I called PC Richard who scheduled another service on 5/14/15 between 1-5pm. Still a no show. Yet PC Richards representative stated that the service person claimed that I wasnt home. The next morning 5/15/15 11:40am a service specialist named ** at ** extension ** calls stating the repairman is sick. Im confused! On what date was my repair? How do I get rid of this product installed in my kitchen wall? How do I get my money back? How do I make PC Richards and/or GE complete the repairs without losing a work day for foolishness or forsaking my Sabbath day again?

I wish I could rate this dishwasher ZERO stars. I bought my first GE cafe series approximately 6 months ago and after the first week, there were three separate, unrelated problems. I called GE repair and the serviceman came out and said he fixed all the problems. He did not. I contacted the store where I bought it, and after contacted GE directly was able to get a brand new one. After two months, problems started again. Once again the repairman came out. Long story short - 2 months, and three sick days later (on my part) dishwasher is still not cleaning dishes thoroughly. I contacted GE several more times and they sent me some dishwasher cleaner and offered me a discount on a new GE dishwasher.... I will never purchase another GE anything and advise everyone else to do the same!

Bought our GE Microwave (DVM1850DMWW) from Home Depot about 5-6 years ago. I can see a unit just failing; but to start burning, smoking and smelling is non-excusable. We were lucky enough to be in the kitchen at the time and catch the problem before it escalated. While the unit was just ok while it worked, potentially burning down our kitchen is inexcusable regardless of age. Time for a range hood and a small countertop model. A non-GE model.

Ive owned my GE Profile dishwasher for 6 years. Two months ago the pump had to be replaced and this is quite an expensive item. Then the other day I went to open the dishwasher and the doors spring gave away, hence slamming to the floor and crushing my big toe. The repairman said it was not the spring that broke but the link that holds the spring in place. The spring is actually quite strong but the link is just a flimsy piece of plastic. We are both anxious to see if the replacement link he ordered has been made stronger and are replacing both just to be sure it doesnt happen again. Although my toe isnt broken, it is extremely bruised and painful so I am going to be ever cautious of opening the dishwasher again.
