Bought the whole GE profile kitchen series 2 years ago. Last week the microwave went dark, blew a component, and is dead. With only two people using it off and on for reheating, hardly got our money worth. Called GE for assistance and went back to the store where it was purchased. No one offered any financial assistance with the loss. The microwave itself was $500. My husband and I are very disappointed in the product and service.

I bought this JVM1540SN1SS microwave just two years ago. From past five months, certain keys stopped working. Then today, it gives me error service may be required - keyboard shorted. Microwave is unusable at this point and out of warranty. But my previous microwaves worked for decade without any issues. This one broke in about 1.5 years. These microwaves are of bad quality. I think GE should recall these microwaves and get it fixed free of cost for consumers.

Bought a GE microwave and arranged to have it installed. Kept it in sealed box for 3 days until installer appointment. Opened box to find a crease (dent) in door. I phoned in to the GE warranty depot and they informed me that I only had 48 hours to report and as such was out of luck. They indicated that it is clearly stated in the Appliance Manual under the warranty section. Too bad that the Manual was in the sealed box. No warning on the outside of the box. On top of that the individual that I spoke to at the Warranty Depot was very rude. No more GE Appliances for me. Be forewarned.

I love the GE. I bought a GE dual fuel range about 3 years ago when my 6 yr old Frigidaire stove caught fire. Always wanted to cook with gas but have electric oven and broiler. It's also easy to clean the cooktop unlike older gas stoves. Love the big fast boiler eye.

I have been trying to get this dishwasher to work since April. I have had it serviced 2x and yesterday the board was replaced. Soon after the dishwasher started to say the same thing again. Press start and the cycle is paused and will start in 3-2-1. it does not start but repeats and beeps over and over. I have done everything in my power to get this rectified. It will run out of warranty in October and I havent been able to use it. As a consumer I am demanding a usable product that I spent my hard earned money on. Here is the model CDT875P4N2W2. I will go to any lengths to get some attention in this matter and I hope Consumer Affairs can contact GE Corporate for me.Dr. David ** Lewes Delaware

In late March, we placed a service call under GEs one year warranty. The outcome - a gasket repair. Within a week or two, the door began to drip from both the right/left bottom. With having three teens, I figured someone opened the door and released some water. Well, that just wasnt the cause. Shortly over the next few days, the leak was consistent and I placed a service call to GE on 4/19. The customer representative offered, instead of a service call, to order some panels that fit it the bottom of the dishwasher. I stated clearly that our one year warranty was up on 4/25 and if this does not work, would GE address the issue with a service call? Answer was yes. Within a few weeks, I began to worry when I did not receive the panels. A call to GE was made; however, no documentation was noted of the call made on 4/19. However, GE stated the information might be in parts department, but regardless now, that call was made after one year warranty, extended warranty would fix the issue. Long story short, the extended warranty states problem initiated under GE and GE states the extended warranty is responsible because the call was made outside the one year warranty. I expressed that GE never fulfilled responsibility as GE did not even notify us that panels were not available for our unit. In the meantime, I am the one out of a working dishwasher. Now I know $539 may not be a lot to invest, but we feel the loss. The frustration and lack of responsibility to correct the repair is just beyond me. GE is responsible. Oh and did I share that lack of communication with GE is horrible? A promised call within 12-24 hours just doesnt happen. Again, I know most would say its not worth the frustration, but it makes me sad that GE and Assurant Warranty company can get away with what I know is wrong. Weve learned from this ordeal. No more GE products in our household.

GE Adora Microwave DVM 1950 purchased at Home Depot - Update to a previous review. After speaking with Home Depot employees, GE service scheduler and finally Consumer Relations, that person agreed to schedule a repairman to come to our home and repair the microwave no charge. I certainly hope it can be repaired because until a couple weeks ago, I loved this over the range microwave. The warranty was for a year. We purchased it April 2012 but it wasnt used for six months so really only used 10 months, by two people!!

We got the GE cafe series appliances with our house. We just completed 16 months in our new house and the microwave stopped working. We had to call the GE cafe person to troubleshoot the problem. He charged us $80 (without even touching the microwave) and said we will have to spend $450 more to fix it. This is such a horrible customer experience. I had a $40 microwave in my old apartment which lasted for 4 years without a single problem. I am definitely not paying $450 for a useless microwave. But now I am worried about remaining appliances I have from GE. I understand that you would say you cant do anything as the appliances are not in warranty anymore. But if you really care about your customers, you should start looking into this and fix it. I am very very disappointed and I am not letting this go. I expect someone from GE to help us to get this fixed. Thanks for your patience to read this outburst of a disappointed customer.

I purchased a GE Profile stocks in 2007 and a GE microwave model JVM7195SK1SS purchased 12/30/16. We have replaced the knobs on the stove 2 times because of peeling in the past. Now we need to replace the microwave handle. The handles and knobs look like metal but they are cheaply made white plastic covered with a sharp silver coating that peels. It appears the knobs get overheated when the oven opens and the microwave handle from the steam when cooking on the stove. Last night I cut my hand on the handle! We reordered the faulty handle and now getting charge $100 from GE. The company should take responsibility for their poor design and replace it for free with a nonpeeling part. I know that we will get the same handle and won’t be able to use the burner below or hope that using the fan will keep it from cracking again. I would never recommend a GE product again.

Our microwave is of poor quality. Unit failed completely after a couple of years in use, like many GE products. This GE unit had a large rotating platter and easy controls, but it just stopped operating one day. Nothing could get it going again, so we replaced it with a Samsung microwave which appears to function well (only a year into use, so no way to know yet) although platter is smaller and controls not as convenient.

We purchased a GE Over-The-Range microwave, model LVM1750DM1BB in late 2008 and had nothing but problems with it, from paint peeling off on the inside to buttons which did not work, to burning smell, until it finally quit completely. Nothing worked, nada. This was not a cheap microwave and, added with installation expenses, was a major purchase. Even so, it would cost more to have it repaired than the original costs combined. This is criminal, a total rip-off!

I purchased my GE Microwave about a year and a half ago. It has served me with flying colors till yesterday. To explain, I was boiling a small plastic pan of water for some rice. I have done this many times in the past. In the middle of the cooking cycle I heard a loud bang from the microwave. I stopped the cooking cycle and opened the door. To my surprise the glass turntable had shattered into several pieces. I cleaned out all the broken glass and tested the microwave. It seems to be working perfectly with the exception of the glass turntable. A new one was ordered. No further action is required. This is just an information for GE.

Purchase date 4/20/15; Model # GDT 580 SMF ES; Serial # VD776355; Dishwasher wasnt installed until the end of June upon completion of a complete kitchen renovation. Eight months later, on March 1, 2016, the dishwasher was leaking water all over the kitchen! I initiated a service call and the repair man replaced the seal and it has worked without leaking until April 13, 2016. AGAIN a very large amount of water poured out of the left side of the door. The repair man had to return 3 more times and finally didnt have a leak for almost another year. Now, June 1, 2017 my kitchen is once again flooded. This machine is garbage - Very expensive garbage. Dont waste your money! I had previously purchased from Sears and never had a water leak in a machine that was 20 years old.

The dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded our home. The dishwasher continued to run even with the door open and the display showing “leak detected”. We had started it before we left the house and it had been running for about 20 minutes when we left. When we came home hours later, hot water was still being produced by the dishwasher and had flooded our kitchen and basement. We could not stop the dishwasher with buttons at that point and had turn off electrical and water supply to it. The absolute worst part is they will not replace or refund it even though it’s less than six months old. They are only offering to service it and expect me to continue using it.

GE Dishwasher GDF520PGJBB - GE has the worst dish washer machines you can ever buy. In fact never buy a GE dishwasher in general. Maybe, GE makes good refrigerators but not dish washers. We bought this from Home Depot and after 6 months it collapsed: Pump broken, soap dispenser broken, panel doesnt work. We had before a Maytag and we used it for over 20 years without any issues. In addition, GE has the worst customer service you can imagine. They are robots, repeat the same thing with a very annoying tone, and are not able to solve a single issue. We were even harassed by GE manager Evan or Aven, useless man, from customer relation who enjoyed seeing how much frustrated we were. This was the only GE appliance we have in our house, and after this unpleasant experience with GE will NEVER buy any GE appliance, even if it was free. GE refused to fix our machine under the pretext that its not installed on Ply Wood. We didnt install the machine ourselves but professional technicians from Home Depot and they also refuse to put PlyWood under the machine as its not a requirement. They do it every day, but looks like GE have Lazy technicians.

GE Microwave Model WES1450DN1BB 1.4 Cubic Ft 1100 Watt - This product is absolute garbage! This product was manufactured in June 2010 and I purchased it in approximately in May of 2011. So after 13 months of moderate use, the unit no longer functions properly. Needless to say, the product is out of warranty by about a month, so I pretty much now have nothing more than an overweight paperweight.I wont bore you with all the details, but for the most part, the touch pad stopped working and if left plugged in, the microwave will start on its own and run for up to a minute before beeping incessantly. If I unplug the unit and plug it back in, Ill receive a different error message, and so on. I wont waste my time contacting GE, because from what I hear, they really dont give a damn! When I was young, you could by an American-made product and expect it to last for many years. However, ever since greedy corporate America decided to ship all our jobs overseas in the name of profits, I have yet to find any imported products that are worth a damn. Instead of one good American product that would last a lifetime, I now have to purchase the same imported piece of ** many times over to get the same longevity. Maybe this is what GE wants?Needless to say, GE has now been placed on my Do Not Buy list. I guess I will now buy from another major manufacturer to see if their foreign-made garbage is any better!

Purchased a GE over-the-range microwave worth about $400. About 2/1/2 yrs in it stopped working. Had a GE repairman come out to fix it. They charge $95 just to come out. I complained so they gave me 50% off parts and labor after the initial investment. It took him about ten minutes to pull out the defective part, a $10 thermostat which he replaced. Total cost: $162. Ive had GE products for years but the new ones are much more cheaply made IMHO. Made in Malaysia. In addition, the handle is breaking off as are plastic parts coming of the top of it. I guess Ill consider getting extended warranties from now on because these products are cheap. If Id had it longer, Id have bought a new one instead of fixing it.

I just wanted to make future purchasers aware of an issue I had with the oven light (GE over-the-range microwave model JVM1540DM5BB) underneath the microwave. It is much dimmer than my previous GE oven. I bought it from Lowes and after returning to the store to check a floor model, I discovered none of the models were plugged in so you cant check this out in the store. You only find out once the thing is installed. Lowes referred me to the manufacturer who then told me, after asking if my oven had 1 bulb or 2, the oven was working as designed. How they could definitively determine this over the phone was beyond me, but that was the extent of the assistance.

Adora Microwave - door falling apart: This microwave is supposed to be installed above a range. The materials are not suited to this. The plastic door has disintegrated. We have got through 2 handles. I took the 2nd one off to replace it and the plastic that holds the glass in place just disintegrated onto the floor along with much other plastic parts. Why is the door plastic in the first place if they cannot make it from a heatproof material? Only 4 years old and we are going to have to junk it. I have a 3 and a half year old GE Cafe Dishwasher which I paid over $1400 for and yesterday, when I ran it, I had a couple of cups melted when I opened it. This morning, I opened it to remove the remaining dishes. I closed the door to it and left for work. I did not run it again, just emptied it. My husband came home about an hour after I left to a house filled with smoke and the smell of melted plastic. He opened the dishwasher and found everything inside melted. The spinners, the silverware holder and all the plastic rack dividers were totally melted.Apparently, the heating element stuck on and overheated it. If he hadnt come home when he did, I believe our home would have caught fire. He said the whole kitchen was much hotter than the rest of the house. The service repair man said it cant be fixed because it got so hot it melted the seals in the motor. It was not a wiring problem with the house. It was a problem with the dishwasher itself. So now, I am out $1400 plus a house full of very toxic smelling smoke.

After many searches trying to do due diligence, we bought a GE dishwasher online Nov 2014. It was delivered and installed two weeks later. The day (Saturday) after delivery we loaded it and started the cycle; water went in, the circulation pump started and then the machine stalled. The machine was reset pumped out, restarted but no further improvement.Called the GE service number and after a 20 minute wait was informed that a request would be placed to a local service company. Monday the local service company (30 miles away) called to inform us they had to reject the service request and that GE would set up another. Three days later GE was called again. They were unaware that the service request was rejected so had not attempted to find someone else. They could not get another company to respond and told us to arrange the service call ourselves, pay the bill and submit it to them.My wife and I are now wanting to return the machine but were informed we would have to go through the local Home Depot. They informed us that we would need to have GE arrange it. GE was called back and informed us that the dishwasher could not be returned as long as it could be repaired which leaves it to their discretion. The process to arrange these things took a long time, many delays and many phone calls back and forth to Home Depot and GE. The calls to GE often took 15 minutes to get someone who would forward the call to the service rep which placed back in another 15 minute queue. Do not believe that Home Depot will take returns. The advertising makes you believe they will take but they do not without GEs RGA which GE is reluctant to provide. Avoid GE. I am not the first to find out that GE warranty (one year) and service is poor and that they are more than willing to wait out the warranty to leave their customers with a possible lemon. Other dishwashers are available with 5 year warranties.

GE dishwasher GDT680SSH2SS - I don’t normally do product reviews... In this case, I am making an exception. This is without a doubt the very worst dishwasher I have EVER owned. I’m pleased with myself for buying the optional insurance when I bought the dishwasher from Home Depot. It has been repaired 6 times. It even had to have the main seal replaced. It flooded my kitchen and ruined my floor. My homeowners insurance sued GE. I think it worked fine for only 6 months...then it went downhill. It is extremely loud! It sounds like your dishes are being destroyed... No, I’m not exaggerating!I have NEVER had issues like this. I bought this GE as I really like the screen bottom so that large particles didn’t get caught up inside the pump etc... As I’m typing this, I have it set for Sani wash and the water isn’t hot at all, and it had standing clean water in the bottom when I opened it up this morning. I will also note, I rinse all my dishes before putting them in. I will never buy GE anything again.

GE calls this minor chipping (which it is not), advises to stop using the product, and offers a $100.00 off a new GE unit because they cannot fix it. The product should be recalled, just like Honda did when their Pilots were peeling.

I purchased a GE Microwave Oven model # JES1139WL03 in late May of 2010. In early July, the paint started coming off the inside of the door when I wiped it with a damp dishcloth. I called Lowes, where I had purchased it, but was told that their warranty was only 30 days. I called GEs Consumer Support line and was told that for $65, I could ship the microwave to a repair center who would determine whether the machine could be repainted or would need to be replaced. I was told that either would require me to pay for it, since the machine still worked and peeling paint was not considered to be a warranty item. I guess if it catches fire, then they might warranty it.

Our microwave, model number JVM1750DP1BB, was manufactured May 2011. On Monday, Dec. 30, I was heating a bagel when the small plastic hook holding the rack caught fire. The interior of the microwave burned, but I was able to put it out before it spread too far. I shudder to think what might have happened it I had been in another room. Im irritated because I keep reading that this is a common problem. Im irritated because MY HOUSE COULD HAVE BURNED DOWN. Im irritated because it seems like GE isnt doing a great job at making it right. Ive attached a photo below, showing where the plastic pin burned. I can say that Im shopping for a new over-the-range micro, and it wont come from GE.

I live in a condominium building with approximately 105 units. We all had the same GE microwave installed in our units approximately five years ago (contractor-installed). I sent out a mass email to all of the owners to ask if they were having the same problems I was having my microwave, which was the touch panel will not accept commands. I received approximately 15 complaints from various homeowners with the same complaint. When I called GE to tell them the problem I was having with my microwave, they told me a technician would have to come out and diagnose the problem. The service call would be $99.95, and at that time the technician would let me know what the problem was and tell me the charge for the replacement part and labor cost. I told GE Customer Service that there were many people in my condo building who were having the same problem and I wanted to know why each homeowner should have to pay the initial $99.95 service call fee? The response was, That is our policy. To placate me, GE customer service said they would charge me the initial fee but I would receive a 25% discount for parts and labor. In the meantime, two or three other homeowners made service call appointments for their microwave oven with GE. One homeowner was given a fee for parts and labor, which would have been only slightly less than buying a new microwave and another homeowner was not given a labor cost. In both cases, the homeowners did not go forth with their repairs, because buying a new microwave was more cost effective.I want Consumer Affairs to know GE grossly mishandled this malfunction issue amongst a group of homeowners who own the same microwave. Secondly, I realize the microwave ovens are five years old, but GE should have some record regarding failing parts along with the life cycle of this product. Lastly, I want GE to be held accountable for not telling consumers a repair cost for certain issues. There should be a cost per hour, not cost per broken item.I kept records of all correspondence amongst the homeowners of my condominium building, so I will be of great assistance if you need further help from me. Product malfunction is a GE Profile Spacemaker 2.0 Model # JVM2070SK02.

Of course, I rinse my dishes, but Ive had few incidences of dishes coming out dirty. Hot start, start (long wash), short wash, rinse only and plate warmer. The interior is set up well with a good variety of spaces. I would say its a normal-sized household dishwasher, not compact, with approximately a 24 width, 24 depth and height. White with gray lettering; four buttons and one dial. Simple design that is easy to understand and operate. The run-time of this dishwasher is quite long, and it is very loud.

Its been more than 2 months that GE repair has been TRYING to repair my 4 month old dishwasher. 4 service calls, 3 wrongly ordered parts, GE blaming repair company, and repair CO. blaming GE. The repair company on their 4th visit told me wrong part again and that they refuse to come out anymore. They lost enough money already. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I have a 5yr extended warranty on the dishwasher and I cant seem to get anywhere with the factory warranty. GE by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They were happy to take my money for 4 top of the line appliances, after that youre non existent to them. Its a shame that legal counsel is what seems my only avenue. I had a problem with my GE Profile Dishwasher that I had for several years and I had it on factory warranty. However, the last time they came to repair, they did not have parts available to fix anymore. So, they recommended new one. I worked with Consumer dept and made arrangements to replace with one they recommended at $500+. After several efforts to get it delivered, it was and we began using. It is not a Profile like my old one and it does not have the additional washing, rinsing and drying cycles as the Profile. It is a flat out bottom line washer. No, sani clean etc.. We have used the machine about 4 times and each time we have to rewash several of the dishes and especially the silverware. This is the most disgusting piece of equipment I have ever used. My home is loaded with GE products from years ago, mostly the Profile series and I have been delighted with the products and service. This machine is a disaster. I cannot believe that GE has this on the market or maybe this is a machine they use to satisfy customers who may threaten to use someone elses. It was not free, as I say it cost over $500. The stores and onlines advertise better machines on sale for less. I have GE stock which I will sell. They are going down on Quality. Consequences: Stuck with poor machine that does not do job that I paid good money for. Really, GE, get yourself together. Product Model:GDF510PSD1SS.

I bought a brand new GE Spacesaver OTR mount Microwave (Model # jnm1851dmbb) and had installed in my new home by the appliance shop where I purchased it in November, 2010. I am a widow and I use the microwave maybe 3-4 times per week, and take very good care of it. I went to steam some fresh veggies this evening and the whole unit just went dead. There’s no fan, light, or keypad. It is plugged in and I did not blow a fuse or switch. I checked them all. It’s just plain broken after less than 2 years of very light use. It’s a piece of junk! I have had this GE microwave for over a year now and have not had a problem with it. It has a variety of settings and it doesnt quit if something causes a spark/feedback, like a tiny piece of foil. It has a spacious interior and a large turntable. Also, the light stays on while cooking and comes on when the door is opened allowing one to watch and check on the cooking process even in a dim night light environment. Mid-morning munchies without having to turn a bright light on. I have tried other GE products and was disappointed with their performance. This GE microwave has worked well and I have not had any problems with it.

Bought the new dishwasher in Dec. 2013. In November 2014 a month shy of warranty expire, the detergent dispenser did not release or partially released the detergent. GE sent out A&E Factory service to fix. First visit initiated the parts order which was a new computer board and a Cascade Series detergent dispenser. A month later the second visit to install parts, the A&E tech was at our home for 3 hours and it took that long to remove and replace detergent dispenser. The tech did not replace computer board stating it was not needed? A week later the detergent dispenser still did not release the detergent! Called back to set up another appointment which was at the earliest Jan 19th 2015. Meanwhile last Friday Jan. 9th 2015 the dishwasher started to smoke heavily causing smoke detector to go off at 9 p.m. at night. Thank goodness!! We were home so that I could disconnect the power. Third visit was 1/12/15 and was informed by Lead A&E tech that the board should have been replaced and that the tech that was sent out was a trainee and inexperienced to work on my dishwasher. He should of never worked on my dishwasher(!!) according to the Lead A&E tech. The Lead A&E tech also stated that my model has had a problem with the computer boards which is essentially the brain of the dishwasher. I am currently taking my fight back to GE since A&E Factory is a subcontractor to GE and is not authorized to replace appliances. I told GE that I want a new dishwasher that is not using the problem computer boards even if it is an upgrade. It is not our fault that they have work with A&E who send out inexperienced techs to work on complicated GE appliances. We want a dishwasher that we both feel safe to run while we are not home. Is that too much to ask for?

We have had this GE dishwasher model GLD6760N00SS for about 9 years and it was fine, until a few nights ago!! We ran the dishwasher, unloaded it, closed the door and went out. When we returned about four hours later we were met in our apartment lobby by the building manager who informed us that we had a fire in our apartment. It started in the dishwasher, which was off, and destroyed the unit. Repairs will be costly due to fire restoration required as well as the need to now replace more than just a dishwasher. Soot covered the whole apartment, and left a need to get a new kitchen floor and repair/replace some cabinets. Be careful of this model from GE.

Almost 2 years ago and right from the start this dishwasher did not clean. Numerous times they had people come out and supposedly fixed it. Ive had different suggestions as to what to do. 1. Turn on the hot water tap and make sure its hot. 2. Use various different cleaning solutions on top of the dishwasher soap. 3. Use loose detergent.4. Throw at the bottom of the washer. One of the arms keeps falling down. And the last time I was told I could return it and get a deal on a better machine. I am now left with hand washing every item that goes into it unless I want gritty glasses, dishes and silverware. I bought this at Home Depot. I will never buy any products such as this from them nor will I ever buy another GE product.

Bought model DDT575SMFES less than a month ago (along with a new microwave, stove and fridge) from the Home Depot. When the appliances were delivered the stove had some flaws in it so it had to be replaced. The dishwasher is a whole other story. It worked fine for a week but now it takes forever to get it to turn on. We try and try but it just beeps and the light flashes. Once we do get it turned on to stops before completing the cycle. If it does run a full cycle the soap dispenser does not dispense the soap. I wish I would have looked at this site before purchasing these GE appliances. I purchased this GE Adora dishwasher about 3 years ago from Home Depot and it cost about $550 which I think should translate into a well made dishwasher. I only run it about twice a week so it gets low use. On inspection this month I noticed the racks were already starting to rust and that there was a tear in the door gasket. I called the 800 number for GE consumers and they told me they could order me the racks for $200 a piece and that they would send out a repairman for $139 plus the $40 part. This is more than the dishwasher cost. They also told me I should have purchased the extended warranty and that this particular dishwasher has only a one year warranty. What happened to GE? We bought a GE cafe series microwave (model/serial number: pnm919sf1ss/gd235771b) and 4 months later it ceased to function. We just had a remodel and for the first time had an expensive, over the oven microwave and were very excited. Unfortunately, unlike the 2 cheap microwaves weve purchased in the last 36 years, this one we had used for 3 months total, developed problems. The motor seemed to surge and then it would go off. Half an hour later it came back on but would only work for about 5 minutes at a time. I called GE and they arranged for a local company to come take a look. They insisted on a 4 hour window and fortunately my husband is retired so he could be there. The repairman came and didnt have a clue as to what was wrong. He called his boss who talked him through diagnostics. After an hour he left, saying hed be back in a week with some new parts. Again we had to wait the 4 hour window. He came in and we were on pins and needles hoping he wouldnt scratch our cabinets as he took the unit down. He replaced the microwave component and when he left it worked. Two days later it again died. I called the repair people and they told me I had to call GE to get permission for another attempt at repair. I called GE and they said I had to call customer service to file a report. They told me I had to make an appointment for a technician to come out to see if the microwave could be repaired. Really??? The technician would try to repair it again or decide it couldnt be repaired and needed to be replaced. Like we have nothing better to do than wait for these repair people who have no clue as to how to repair the microwave. Every time they take down the microwave they risk ruining our cabinets. It was so unhelpful. I am really disappointed in GE customer service. We had to go out and buy a microwave to use while we were waiting for the repair. They obviously dont care that we cant use their expensive product. Our replacement microwave was $40 from Walmart and works beautifully. We finally complained to our WONDERFUL contractor who originally purchased the microwave for us and he is replacing it with a new one. He was appalled by GEs treatment. He takes note of appliances that are crap so he can warn customers. I thought I was buying from a reputable company and thinking we were getting a great and special product. Too bad.

We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

On 05/20/2014, our GE microwave over the stove unit burst into flames. My wife was using timer and walked away then turned around and heard the microwave fan start (spontaneously). Then she observed flames/smoke reflected in the Microwave window. She observed the interior of the microwave was aflame. The fire was extinguished with a rag & water. The burning items appeared to be plastic/insulation. The fan from the microwave was with the burning insulation on the rotating plate. Had this unit only 14 months during that time the microwave fan would turn itself on for 3 minutes and then turn off all by itself. Happened twice in 14 months. Glad we were at home and were able to extinguish the fire. Called Lennar the builder who put this unit in to take pictures and check electrical. Was told the GE unit was bad to call GE. I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

We were super excited to get this GE Profile Cafe dishwasher. Minus the brand, it was the exact design/style as the one my dad has which we love! First issue, dont have a name of a dish liquid if you cant use all of them. Cascade apparently makes different detergent styles for the smart dispense. Dishes were ridiculously dirty and the horrible thing is I couldnt find an answer why on GEs site, I had to go to a handyman site. That was about a month and a half ago. Today, I did the dishes and, of course, let it do its thing. I always have the heated dry on by the way. Well, dinner came and I grabbed some dishes out which were screaming hot and I had to use an oven mitt. I didnt think anything of it because sometimes Im a sissy about that. Well, its now 3 hrs later and I get up to the smell of burning plastic. My first thought was that the sippy cup straw fell on the heating unit. I did not, however, expect to open it and see the Tupperware melting, the silverware rack melting and the water bar to be melting to the heating unit and it being so hot that I have to use an oven mitt just to touch the freaking rack. Oh! And by the way, we bought this off Craigslist last year and it was brand new. It still had the casing around it from the store.

We purchased our Adora over-the-stove microwave oven from Home Depot. The Adora brand is made exclusively for Home Depot and were sold on its special functions and value. Well now, 3 years later, this exclusive models glass fogs up when we use it. There are only 2 of us living at home. We use it maybe 4 or 5 times a day. A microwaves typical lifetime is 9 to 10 years. Also, by the way, when we turn on the fan to highest, it sounds like an express train hurtling through our kitchen. Our dog had a heart attack and died the first day we operated it. No he didnt. We dont even have a dog. But you get the picture.

I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

July 4th, 2010 - GE Profile Dishwasher, Model: PDW9200N00BB, Dishwasher had been humming after cycle was over for a little while, this night I walk into the kitchen late and find it full of smoke. Circuit board has a hole burned though it and wiring harness is melted. Never tripped any safety, could close the door and it would come right back on, smoke and all. This model was not on the recall list but I called GE anyway. After describing the fire they send someone out, then they send a new dishwasher out and install it. I assume they wanted the old one to look over or just to get rid of it. New washer installed the end of July 2010, new model number PDWT500R10BB. Today is 2012-02-02 and the new machine would not stop at end of cycle (Got down to 1 minute and stay there for at least 20 minutes before we turned it off). This machine is now making the continuous hum after the cycle stops that the old one did before it caught on fire.Called GE, they said they could maybe go half on parts and service until they checked where I was located. (Wichita, KS. Area population 500,000+) They said that they didnt send factory techs to my area and I would need to contact a local repair service. I pointed out that they had a factory guy for when my machine was on fire and they said it was just a malfunction now, so they could not. No half on the price for repair either at this point. This is a $1100 to $1200 dishwasher with, as near as I can tell from complaints online, a history of going up in flames. I understand things break etc, but when you continue to put out products like this and then refuse to remedy the problem, I and anyone who will listened to me will never own anything GE again.

Updated on 12/30/2018: Again had GE up, said it was not the pump as they stated. Hired a plumber as they requested, pipe not blocked. Changed connections and now the machine has no power. Again have to call for repair. I am sure they will have to order a part or tell me to call an electrician. I am so done. Please beware. Do not buy. Still not been able to use my dishwasher going on 4 weeks and brand new.Original Review: Purchased from Home Depot. I have had it for only one month used 4 times. The water did not drain. Called GE Repair. Guy came down, couldn’t figure out what was going on, said it must be the pump or it could be blocked. He went downstairs, could not find the pipe. Been there since 69...said he is going to order part. Waited 1 week. Then he calls me an hour before he was to be here. Mind you I took off work to be there. He said, “Did you have plumber to come in to see if there is a blockage and he needs to show you where the connection is?” Are you kidding me. I told him I am handicapped and having company for Christmas and I need it. He said he can’t come until I hire a plumber as he can’t find the dishwasher connections. Are you kidding?I said, “Can you come and install the pump and if it doesn’t drain then I will call the plumber.” He said no as he can’t find the connection...I am going to put 150 to have a plumber come when I know it’s the pump not a blockage to have the plumber show me where the dishwasher is connected because the idiot can’t figure it out. I said I need it for Christmas. Nobody working until next Wednesday. Do not get a GE. Poor customer service and to break down a few weeks after purchasing is unacceptable. I had A Bosch for 6 years, never a problem. Plus the lower rack tracks already fell apart. I live by myself and does not get much use. I read the reviews and should have known. The only reason I purchased I needed the bisque color. BUYER BEWARE.

I own a GE counter-top sensor microwave oven model #JES1451, which was only 2 years old. At 3:00AM, I woke to a room full of smoke and a burning plastic smell. I immediately rushed to the source which was my microwave oven. It was going by itself and the panel read sensor error with smoke billowing out of it and flames erupting. Luckily, I had a fire extinguisher handy. I had never had any problems with this microwave prior to this experience. I cringe at the thought of what could have happened to my home and my family sleeping upstairs if I hadnt been nearby.

I wasted my whole day waiting for GE Technician to come. Nobody called me to let me know that they are not coming. I have to call them only for a Mr. ** to tell me that they had rescheduled the appointment for another one week without notifying me. Good job that GE APPLIANCES are doing. You remember the so called TOO BIG TO FAIL? It means, they can do whatever they want at whatever time or day they want. I dont have a vent in my house and that means I cant use the stove. Is this ridiculous or I am missing something here? Is it TOO BIG TO FAIL? Yes, I forgot that. I will be staying in a house with a new GE APPLIANCE that has not been working for the last one week and have to wait for another week. Mind you, this Appliance has been used only for barely a month. Is there anybody out there who is facing the same problem or its just me. If there is nobody going through the same experience, an excuse like there are no Technicians available to come to your place and do the job. If there is anybody out there who has trust in GE appliances like I did or even thinking of getting one. Be aware that you will be through what I am going through and there will be no technician available for another two weeks. Be ready to wait for they will reschedule your appointment without letting you know, why? Because theyre TOO BIG TO FAIL. What will you do? Wait until they decide to come, if theres a technician available. I just realized that GE means GO ELSEWHERE. Thanks GE for the good job.

Our Profile over-the-range microwave failed after 2 years. (Warranty was for one year!) One day it suddenly died. The repairman ($100) said repeated twisting of the wire from the oven to the door (which contains all the electronics) is inevitable with opening and closing. The wire often breaks within its insulation: a bad design fault. No question of replacing the wire; we would have to order a new door, for nearly $400 plus $200 for installation, which requires 2 service technicians. This is more than the cost of a new OTR microwave. He advised us to get one with the controls beside, not in the door. Unfortunately GE is the only company that makes a microwave in the same colour as our range.

I like microwaves to a point. If my wife puts my dinner the refrigerator and I take it out and put it into the microwave if the dinner has let’s say pork chops, mashed potatoes, peas everything gets cooked except the mashed potatoes. They’re always cold and sometimes the peas will pop. There’s never a good medium for all foods at once and if you have any bread or biscuits you have to take it out after 15 seconds. The same goes with turkey cranberry stuffing and other things that go on the plate at Thanksgiving. Some stuff gets very hot. Some stuff stays cold.

I just had a GE tech out to my house to look at a GE profile dishwasher that almost burned down last week. There was not a cover over the internal electronic control panel inside the dishwasher and that was causing the circuit board to short out. The dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. GE wants to charge us $200 for the repairs. But this should be something covered under warranty. Their solution is for us to pay half. I think we will go and begin to look for a new dishwasher and never purchase another GE appliance. If you are in the process of building a house and equipping your home with new appliances, I highly recommend you look for another line and another brand of appliances. I guess I need to check with an attorney to see if there are any open cases against GE for faulty electronic components in their appliances.

We purchased this dishwasher for our rental. The last dishwasher was over 30 years old and still working but the racks were coming apart so we opted for a new one from Home Depot. A year later our tenants called saying when they used the dishwasher it rained in the basement. Our maintenance man called and said the dishwasher melted a hole in the right side about 1.5 inches by a 1/4 inch. Midway to the heater element. He did a temp fix with silicone.I called GE Recall number and was told it was not on a recall list. I called customer service and was told they would waive the service call. I explained this was a FIRE HAZARD. They insisted all they could do is send their tech out for repair. Since I paid about 280 dollars for the dishwasher I decide a service call would probably run near that and told them NO! I am now sending all information to consumer affairs department with my STATE REPRESENTATIVE. I also am putting the fire hazard info out there on facebook and twitter. I am waiting for someone else to say they also had a fire hazard. This should be on a recall list!

I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days
GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days ago, our GE Cafe Series dishwasher nearly caused a fire. If I had not been home that day, it surely would have. I ran the dishwasher as usual and went about my day several hours later. I detected a strange acrid smell and with my five-year-old who was ill and at home that day, discovered the dishwasher door was burning hot to the touch. I needed a potholder to open the door. Once opened, there was a blast of heat and smoke. I needed to use oven mitts to protect my hands from the heat to pull the racks out and handle the dishes. The heating element did not deactivate at the end of the cycle. If I had not been at home, the house would have been destroyed as all the plastic items on the top rack in the dishwasher melted. In addition the plastic parts of the lower rack, the wheels and their clips; the silverware holder; covers; the clips that hold the pot tins in place were destroyed, to the point that the majority of our silverware was coated with plastic. The plastic on the lower water dispenser has been demolished; it completely melted more than 50% of the plastic covering on the arm and is charred and burned. We are so lucky to still have a home! The door must be kept open. When the door is closed, the element super heats and presents a major fire hazard. We have noticed that there is a recall for similar models with plastic tubs, but ours has a stainless tub. GE needs to broaden the recall to include all these models. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Our GE Cafe Series dishwasher model #CDW9380N20SS was installed on October 1, 2008. I would not be surprised to find that parts from the recall in April 2008 were also used in the Cafe Series. I have discovered in the few days since the DW units malfunction that there are over 1000 complaints listed with similar, even identical complaints, on multiple internet sites with the same problems.

Sometime in the 1970s, my mother bought all new GE appliances; a refrigerator, a kitchen range-microwave combo and a dishwasher. After her death my husband and I moved into her house and continued to use these appliances until 2007. The refrigerator and dishwasher are still going strong as of now... October 2014. The refrigerator only needed the drainage line cleaned. The range began to have some electrical shortage problems and rather than try to repair (which is what we should have done with both appliances), we decided to replace the refrigerator and range/microwave. We bought new GE appliances; a GE refrigerator (my brother put the old one in his shop), GE microwave and GE range. The new refrigerators icemaker would not work property when we got it and the microwave (Model #JVM2070SK02) quit early this year (big difference in the old microwave at 30 some years use and my new one at only 7 years use). Because my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I was the only caretaker, I was not able to address the malfunctioning icemaker immediately. In fact, because of my husbands hospitalization, I wasnt even at home during that year enough to use the icemaker. WOW! What a ripoff GE is selling to consumers. My complaints wont solve my problems nor the problems experienced by other people who bought these defective appliances but it helps to vent my anger. Just recently a small leak in the waste-water drain hose (easy to replace) sent me scurrying to find a new dishwasher but when considering the replacement of my 1970s dishwasher and the reliability of my newer appliances, I decided that my 1970s dishwasher will outlast anything I could replace it with. So I decided to replace the waste-water drain hose myself. What a sad appliance market we have in the US when buyers have to replace newly purchased appliances anywhere from a few days to a few short years after purchase. I think appliance companies intentionally produce inferior, unfixable products so consumers will replace their inferior ones with new inferior models thus keeping up sales. Do we have a choice? I lived before dishwashers and microwaves and I can live without either now. I would prefer not to go back to wood cook-stove and an icebox but I may not have a choice (I actually have an icebox if needed). Is there any way to hold companies responsible for the products they produce? If anyone out there has had longevity of 10 years or more use from a newer appliance line, that is appliances made since 2000... Please share the producers name with rest of us. GE isnt what it used to be and neither are many other US brand name appliances.

Ahhhh me, here we go again! Its no wonder that the state of business in this country is not as solid as it could be. I purchased your GE dishwasher, Model #GDF540HSF2SS, Serial # ZA703816B, on 01/19/2014 from Lowes Home Centers, 3805 Northern Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. It was delivered and installed soon after. Soon after that, mid to late July, it began to flood our kitchen. A service call had to be made to replace the tub gaskets. Covered under initial 1 year warranty. Here it is the 5th of November, 2015 and now the unit does not function at all. A service diagnostics call performed today the 6th of November to ascertain its ailment to the tune of $89.00! (No, we didnt purchase the Extended Warranty. My belief has always been that the option to purchase an extended warranty is; 1) an opportunity for the company to make extra money on the sales of a product, and 2) an admission by the manufacturer that the product is probably not well made and will probably break down sometime in the near future!) I guess that future is here for this product! It almost lasted 2 YEARS!! Deplorable! The last dishwasher I had was almost 20 years old and the only service to it was to replace a water hose (which I did myself). Diagnostics proved that the electronic motherboard failed! In addition to the inconvenience and the $89.00, Id be willing to bet that the replacement part for this unit will cost 1/2 of the original purchase price of $599.00! AND I WAS CORRECT; the replacement board will cost $269.00 to replace (part and labor)!!! What a rip-off! I will never purchase another GE product as long as I live! And I will go online and register my opinion and complaint about this product with the Consumer Services Bureau and any place else that I can find to vent electronically!Recently the Sandoval Economic Alliance attempted to lure GE to establish their Headquarters here in New Mexico. For various reasons, we did not make GEs shortlist for consideration. I am thankful that we didnt make it! Why would our state want such a crappy company embarrassing our state with their crappy products? I will be sending a copy of this complaint to them as well.
