We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

I replaced a GE JEM25 microwave when the Magnetron gave up with a PEM31DWW unit. Within 14 months the paint on the ceiling of the oven started flaking off. Contacted GE and they offered to sell me another oven for $166. After reading all the negative reviews on this site, I dont think I will ever buy another GE product.

Renovated the kitchen and installed a new microwave. 2 adults in the house. First one lasted 4 1/2 years, too much to repair so bought another one. Because of the configuration of the cabinets we were limited to this dimension of microwave. Second microwave lasted 22 months, too expensive to repair. Now into our 3rd microwave. What has happened to quality products??? Everything now is chinese junk. So much for general electric formerly known for good quality, long lasting appliances.

I have a 15 year old washer/dryer set that has worked consistently and it resides at a rental property. I purchased GE washer/dryer set for primary home 4 years ago and it's awesome. It's the level 1-2 steps above basic model and has enough settings to fit my needs (maybe more than I even use) such as pre-soaking, 4 settings for loads and much more. I would not purchase anything besides GE appliances. Very reliable and easy to interface with.

I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have had. This month will be a year and a half. The oven stopped heating so being a DIY person, I pulled the oven out and took it to my workshop to see if it was something I could repair. Inside the front panel was a very helpful schematic of the whole oven. Using the troubleshooting step listed on the paper, I found that the Magnetron tube had gone out. So I went to my owners manual and found that the tube had a four-year warranty on it so I called General Electric consumer relations to have the part replaced. First I had to fight with them because they said it was only covered for a year. After about an hour and a half on the phone and giving her the publication number on the manual, she agreed that it was indeed covered for four years. So she said that she would replace the part and she would even send a technician out to install it at no charge. I was very happy at this point. She said that she would ship the part to me next day with UPS and the tech would be out the following day to replace it. So far so good, till the next day when the part did not arrive. I called back in to General Electric consumer relations and spoke with a man this time and he told me that she had canceled the order that is why I did not receive it, and he couldnt see why. So he looked at the comments she had made the day before and did see that she said she would replace it and send a tech. The tech was supposed to be here the next day and I had no part for him to install. The man said he would place the order and have it shipped to me by the next day no later than 10 a.m. and the tech would be here between 1 to 5 p.m. Great! Until the next day and again no part when they said it would be there. Again with the call only to find out that it was scheduled to arrive next day guaranteed by 7 p.m. The tech is supposed to be there with in the next few hours and I wouldnt have the part. I called Fed-Ex and sweet-talked the lady into getting a hold of her driver to see if she could get to me ASAP. Bingo, next thing you know I have the part, the tech calls and the part is replaced. Oh boy, the big gaping hole above my stove is finally going to be filled once again. (I promise I am coming to the end.) After reinstalling the oven, I found out that it was taking longer to heat than when I got it, and it has a brand new Magnetron in it.Again with the call to General Electric consumer relations to set up another tech to come out and check it out. So the following day, the same tech arrives and puts a cup of just barely cool water in it and puts it in for 30 seconds, pulls the water out and says it is working just like it is supposed to and leaves. Well, again I called General Electric consumer relations to let them know what has transpired, but this time I asked to speak with someone higher up the food chain. I then spoke to a lady and she said that she would set up another tech to come out and check it out, and if it resulted in the same way that she would replace the unit with a new one. The following day, the same tech calls me and said that the oven is working the best that it could so I should call back to consumer relations as he did and set it up for a new one to be sent in its place. So I called once again and was not able to speak with the same lady and the only thing she could do is send me a voucher for $250 laying around for a new oven, but I would have to purchase one and send the voucher in with the receipt to get a refund. I told her that I did not have a spare $250 dollars around to go buy a new oven and then wait for the refund to get to me. So I asked that she have the lady that said she would replace it to call me back to straighten this problem out. Finally the following week, the lady calls me back and said, This is the best that I can do, due to me voiding the warranty. I asked, What? She said that the tech that spoke with me said that because I had hard wired in the unit to the house wiring, it was receiving low voltage so she couldnt do any better than that. I told her that was the most asinine comment I have ever heard coming from a field tech and asked her whether he went to a school backyard Techs-r-Us. I asked if she would have the tech call me to explain. I also gave her some friendly advice that she should not use that comment to anyone else for fear of someone laughing at her. We agreed to have the voucher sent if that was the best she could do. I will not buy another GE appliance again! I have purposely not mentioned anyones name because it was the experience, not the person that I spoke with.

My GE DVM5140DN1BB Serial # ZS 902371B manufactured in December 2009 has stopped functioning. It looks and sounds like it is working but it will not heat. GE only guarantees their warranty for 1 year after the date of purchase. This should have been my first clue. For a fee, they will come look at it.Growing up we had an Amana Radar Range. My mom bought it in 1987. I replaced it so that I could save counter space and also that it would match my other kitchen appliances. I bought the GE microwave in May 2010. This product lasted for a total of 16 months. Ridiculous! In my opinion, big business companies no longer have to be held accountable for producing bad products. Money was lost but will never again be spent on a GE product.

Microwave Oven-Space Saver Model JVM6172DF1WW - This is the same problem that is well documented across the web regarding this POOR General Electric product. I purchased the microwave about 14 months ago and the keypad abruptly stopped working. After checking the electrical circuits from the main box to the device, I determined that the problem is not due to the electrical connection. GE appliance division has been in a poor state for a long time now. The company manufactures this product outside of the U.S., in this case Malaysia, and obviously has a poor quality assurance - quality control plan in place. Couple the production issues with poor customer service and you have a huge, well respected company that is putting out shoddy work.I will be trying to get someone to take responsibility for this problem within General Electric but recognize that any success in that respect is a long shot. My message to other consumers is succinct and to the point - DO NOT purchase this product with your hard earned dollars. Go with another brand with a company that stands behind its products and wants to keep the customer coming back for more. GENERAL ELECTRIC is not one of those companies.

Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

I own a GE counter-top sensor microwave oven model #JES1451, which was only 2 years old. At 3:00AM, I woke to a room full of smoke and a burning plastic smell. I immediately rushed to the source which was my microwave oven. It was going by itself and the panel read sensor error with smoke billowing out of it and flames erupting. Luckily, I had a fire extinguisher handy. I had never had any problems with this microwave prior to this experience. I cringe at the thought of what could have happened to my home and my family sleeping upstairs if I hadnt been nearby.

We purchased the following from GE: GE Profile refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, oven and cooktop in 2006 (six years ago). Last six weeks, the refrigerator, dishwasher and cooktop broke! We have insurance through Assurant on the products since it was recommended. We purchased the insurance for repairs and parts. Refrigerator - the motherboard (if you have other words for this) went out (4 weeks for a part). Now it is fixed. Dishwasher PDW8280NSS - This was the final answer from GE Consumer Affairs:I do apologize for this entire experience. I will be more than happy to contact you today between the time frame of 02:30-04:45 PM CST. Any additional questions you may have, you can contact me quickest by email. Again, I do apologize and I will contact you later today to discuss further options available to you. At this time, being the part is not available, the best option would be to offer a prorate on this dishwasher for you in order to have a functioning dishwasher in your home. I do appreciate your patience in handling this matter and will most certainly speak with you this afternoon. Thank you. Really, I have a case manager? The products must be really ** good if you need this as a department. Everyone should rethink buying GE products. Never again. I am campaigning against them! I cant get the part on a six-year-old high-end dishwasher. We live in the US, dont we? This should be a class action suit!

Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or oth
Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or other appliance from them. Last June 27th we bought a new home which came with all GE appliances. In fact I have 2 of these dishwashers. Once in the basement (just for low usage) and another one in the kitchen. The first day the dishwasher in the kitchen did not work and they came out and replaced it. I have had 3 other service calls on this thing and now it does not clean. Six days before Thanksgiving. I called and the lady told me no service until November 30th is available. It does not work, the first time they came out it was for a leak, second time the pump was not working and the dishwasher was not draining and now it is not cleaning. It was almost as it was my fault. It is a dishwasher - you put the dishes in and then turn it on and they should come out clean. I should not have to rinse or do anything special to make it work. We spent over 1500 dollars on each of these dishwashers and now one if not working. I did not do anything other than turn it on and expect that it should clean.I was told that they would sell me another dishwasher at a discount. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER ONE?! A real company should replace this POS and give me another one for free and it has been 15 months and I have had 2 of them in my kitchen. I can tell you if you plan on purchasing look at KitchenAid they run forever without any problems. They also did a fantastic job of support (I had it for 6 years in one house with one repair, second house they never needed to come).

Purchased the Maytag MDB7749SBM stainless steel dishwasher in December 2013. The dishwasher and install totaled $700, which for that price and with Maytags past reputation, I wrongly assumed that the dishwasher would last a long time. In May 2016, slightly over 2 years, the dishwasher started having issues with the control panel. The control lock would randomly activate. I would have to reset the circuit breaker daily, leaving it off for around 10 minutes. Even with trying to go through all the steps to resolve the issue, resetting it from the circuit breaker, sequence on the control panel, the dishwasher wouldnt work. I called Maytag and after 40 minutes on hold, they finally answered. They wanted $89 for a service call and for the $143 part, plus labor. Might as well just replace it with another brand like GE, or Samsung.

I just had a GE tech out to my house to look at a GE profile dishwasher that almost burned down last week. There was not a cover over the internal electronic control panel inside the dishwasher and that was causing the circuit board to short out. The dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. GE wants to charge us $200 for the repairs. But this should be something covered under warranty. Their solution is for us to pay half. I think we will go and begin to look for a new dishwasher and never purchase another GE appliance. If you are in the process of building a house and equipping your home with new appliances, I highly recommend you look for another line and another brand of appliances. I guess I need to check with an attorney to see if there are any open cases against GE for faulty electronic components in their appliances.

I just wanted to make future purchasers aware of an issue I had with the oven light (GE over-the-range microwave model JVM1540DM5BB) underneath the microwave. It is much dimmer than my previous GE oven. I bought it from Lowes and after returning to the store to check a floor model, I discovered none of the models were plugged in so you cant check this out in the store. You only find out once the thing is installed. Lowes referred me to the manufacturer who then told me, after asking if my oven had 1 bulb or 2, the oven was working as designed. How they could definitively determine this over the phone was beyond me, but that was the extent of the assistance.

Model gdt580sgfbb - About 2 weeks after the warranty expired, the dishwasher stopped filling with water. So, our friend replaced the water inlet valve. No change. If you pour water into it, it kinda pushed it around, but empties it out, wont refill, and starts whining. Then, if you open it, and turn it off, and re -shut it, it starts itself back up again! What?! This stupid thing is essentially brand New! To be truthful, it has never cleaned very well, leaving residue on dishes, and NEVER getting dishes dry. I regret buying this item! My Quiet Power 3 model GLD4450N10CS didnt clean well from installation (July 2008). But I ran the heavy wash as the norm. And I never used heated dry in case I had to rewash any of the contents. I ran my dishwash last evening. I went out to dinner and returned to a burning smell in my house. I opened my dishwasher and smoke came out. The plastics were melted. The cabinet next to my dishwash smelt of burning as well. The detergent table sat partially dissolved on the bottom of the washer. It took 2 hours to cool down. My dishwasher no longer goes into a wash cycle (even after unplugging it overnight). I have left it unplugged as I feel it is no longer safe. GE says it is $80 for service plus parts. And they said that if I dont repair it, I get $100 certificate to use online to order another GE. Its not worth it and I am very upset. I replaced all my appliance in 2008 with GE. My dryer had to be repaired. My washer was a lemon and they swapped it out for a new model. And now my dishwasher died and almost burned my house down.

I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005.
I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005. These appliances are not even seven years old and I have had the side-by-side fridge repaired several times with no true fix to the problem. They charged me to repair the tank in the fridge that the water line leads out from and into the freezer door. Another repair man said that was never the problem and that the seal on the freezer door is broken from inside the door (a common problem) and freezes up the water line, so no filtered water comes out. They wanted to charge me $800 for a new door with no guarantee that it won’t happen again! My cook-top downdraft has shorted out three times because of a faulty design issue. Water and moisture can get up under the switch, which shorts it out. There were three different repairs for the same issue. Last time the same service man repaired the problem and he was so careless. He got silicone all over the granite counters and switch, which he didnt check before leaving! I called him back to my house before he even got out of the neighborhood. Ultimately, he admitted he screwed up and ordered me yet another switch. Now, just today, my Monogram dishwasher started billowing black smoke. I called GE to find that the unit has been recalled for electrical shock and fires. They said I could have it repaired (if the service man deems it repairable) or it’s $400 towards a new unit. Is this company for real? How many consumers do they have to lose before they wake up? If I werent home my house could have burnt to the ground or, worse, one of our kids or us could have been severely hurt or worse. Do they not realize the liability they would have at that point if the worst would have happened? And they have two phone numbers and my address on file. Why on earth would they not contact me to tell me of the recall? Are they holding their breath and crossing their fingers that nothing too bad will happen? I have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that is 18 years old and in my garage; nevertheless, it has never given me an ounce of trouble. I will never buy another GE appliance again and will tell anyone I know the same, including the several new home builders I work with. There are too many other companies out there that will back up their quality products. I have called into GE on my latest problems. And if I dont get satisfaction (i.e., brand new units), I have no issues contacting the attorney general. There are forms online that can be downloaded so a formal complaint can be filed. I urge anyone else to do the same.

I sent GE customer service a note, explaining my problem. I also included a link to this site in my note. I explained that I was a loyal GE customer and that they should stand behind their products although my unit was no longer covered under warranty and did not qualify for the recall. GE responded to my e-mail with in 12 hours. They sent me a complete set of new wheels for my bottom rack free of charge, and sent out a technician to install them, again free of charge. They also e-mailed me to make sure I was happy and no longer had concerns. I am thrilled with my experience. Let me say that again I e-mailed GE and within 8 days (a holiday included), I had new wheels and a technician to install them at no charge.

I have had this GE microwave for over a year now and have not had a problem with it. It has a variety of settings and it doesnt quit if something causes a spark/feedback, like a tiny piece of foil. It has a spacious interior and a large turntable. Also, the light stays on while cooking and comes on when the door is opened allowing one to watch and check on the cooking process even in a dim night light environment. Mid-morning munchies without having to turn a bright light on. I have tried other GE products and was disappointed with their performance. We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. On the new Profile dishwasher, the water inlet valve stuck open and flooded our home. Tech said we may as well have had a hose on full blast all night. Word to the wise, do not turn your dishwasher on and go to bed or leave the house! 7 1/2 hours later we woke to a completely flooded downstairs. When we were researching whether or not there were other complaints on that model dishwasher, we noticed there had been a recall for fire hazard ON THE NEW DISHWASHER! Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. We chose a Bosch for our new dishwasher.

I bought countertop microwave on 7-2-10 in Panorama City, CA. We were moving to Houston so left it in its original box, but the new apartment had a built-in. I left it in box until May 25, 2011 when we moved into an empty house. I took out my new microwave and used it from 5/25/11 until 12/4/11. I baked a 5- minute sweet potato. Later, I went to reheat coffee and no clock, no nothing. I tried the microwave at different plugs, no response. Then I tried the toaster in the microwaves plug. The toaster was fine so its not the plug. A repairman at his business location said its probably the computer chip. For $95, he would install a new one which would last a lot longer. So now we have disposable GE microwaves.

We normally purchase LG appliances but this time we purchased a GE Profile induction range and GE Profile above range microwave oven. The relay went out on the microwave oven about six months after we got them. Their website for scheduling service is absolutely horrible and didn’t work multiple times and when I was finally able to schedule, it was two weeks out. I then called but was told I couldn’t get an earlier appointment. So we waited the two weeks, then they had to order the relay. GE waited until the part was delivered to us to schedule the return visit - over 2 1/2 weeks later! So at this point we are without our new microwave for over a month and a half. Moral of the story is never ever to tempted to buy from GE, LG appliances & cust service are great.

Then I googled it, and found out right away that it meant the start was paused/delayed for 1 hour. I had hit the delay button by mistake. I have to agree with other post about the customer service. Our dishwasher is only 15 months old. First call went fine after that everything is with email. Tried calling several times to get correct parts shipped after only getting one of three needed, I called and finally after 45 minutes an agent answered. After several attempts to get recommended parts and repairs we are now having additional issues. The quality of the GE brand has really gone down compared to our older products that lasted 15+ years. Now waiting for a new assessment of what the issue might be and hopefully will be able to get the parts without issue.

Bought a GE Dishwasher on March 31st 2017. Used it in April & May, left June 1st for the summer so dishwasher was not used for 2 mo. Tried to use it in August when we got back it didnt work. Would not pump water. Called GE. They sent a service tech. out, replaced the pump, still didnt work. So next week they came out again & this time ordered a Computer board. Ever since then they have came out twice a month to repair dishwasher. Always something different. I requested 3 different times to have it replaced they refused. So I straight up asked if they were just trying to run me out of warranty & then drop me. Well, guess what - they came out for the last time on 4/5/2018 to repair it for the last time out of warranty. They turned me down every time to just replace it. WORST PRODUCT EVER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, POOR POOR POOR.

Our GE Microwave Oven/Convection Oven Combo (Model: PT970SRSS) is a little over 2 years old. The interior paint on the ceiling of the microwave oven is chipping and bare metal is exposed. In addition, the microwaves glass turntable frequently slips off its plastic tripod base. Circular scratch marks, which also expose the underlying metal are evident in the area which is located directly below the glass turntable. The circular scratches are a direct result of the glass turntable scraping against the paint. The GE repairman said chipped paint is not repairable and that paint should not ever chip in a microwave, let alone a relatively new microwave. After many calls back and forth to the GE Consumer Relations person, we were offered a new combo at a discounted rate of approximately $1,000. (We paid around $2,000 originally.) Im not satisfied with this offer. I strongly feel that consumers should NOT have to pay to replace a defective item. GE needs to pull these defective and dangerous products off the market! Take a lesson from GM!!!

I recently purchased a GDT696SSFSS Serial #SWGF800933C GE dishwasher. From the moment I tried to use it there was a leaking water to the floor from the back wall. I contacted the store that referred me to GE stating that their role ended when we received the dishwasher (long story..). I called GE service and when they came the technician said needs seal mat and offered to repair (the dishwasher has been installed in the garage since the water that comes out flood the kitchen floor and we cant afford having the floor damaged). But I had no faith whatsoever in this dishwasher (I was told if the problem happen again and damage my floor they will only offer to repair the dishwasher and I have to go to the insurance to repair my floor) or GE and said I wanted my money back. They did not even offered a replacement. It is still a brand new machine, I never use it.

Within a year and a half of buying a new construction condo, the GE microwave fan stopped working (used the condo for no more than 30 days). I read all these complaints and am not surprised. My experience with Kitchen Aid appliances (refrigerator, microwave all junk) is no different than this. If I were to replace any of my appliances, I will not buy an American brand because they are all made in some other country with very poor quality control for very high profit and low quality goals. No choice for now, other than to get it repaired. At least, it provides employment, but what a way to create employment. I would never work for such companies.

Tech said not to expect more than seven years service out of new appliances. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

I had a problem with my GE Profile Dishwasher that I had for several years and I had it on factory warranty. However, the last time they came to repair, they did not have parts available to fix anymore. So, they recommended new one. I worked with Consumer dept and made arrangements to replace with one they recommended at $500+. After several efforts to get it delivered, it was and we began using. It is not a Profile like my old one and it does not have the additional washing, rinsing and drying cycles as the Profile. It is a flat out bottom line washer. No, sani clean etc.. We have used the machine about 4 times and each time we have to rewash several of the dishes and especially the silverware. This is the most disgusting piece of equipment I have ever used. My home is loaded with GE products from years ago, mostly the Profile series and I have been delighted with the products and service. This machine is a disaster. I cannot believe that GE has this on the market or maybe this is a machine they use to satisfy customers who may threaten to use someone elses. It was not free, as I say it cost over $500. The stores and onlines advertise better machines on sale for less. I have GE stock which I will sell. They are going down on Quality. Consequences: Stuck with poor machine that does not do job that I paid good money for. Really, GE, get yourself together. Product Model:GDF510PSD1SS.

We bought Cafe series appliances less than 4 years ago including dishwasher, fridge, stove and microwave. These are not cheap appliances. We also bought a service contract with them. When our dishwasher broke a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, we called service to have it looked at. After 3 trips and over a month later the dishwasher is still not fixed. Each time we tried to make an appointment we were always given a date 1 week out and a 4 hour time window, but each time the technicians showed up late and once even 3 hours late despite the 4 hour window. The fact that after so many visits and part replacement the dishwasher is still broken says a lot about the quality of the product and its maintainability. All customer representatives work like zombies. The problem with GE lies within the culture. Nobody cares. The service contract is a total waste money.

Our microwave was manufactured in September 2010 and we purchased it in October 2010. It has been used a few times a week for reheating leftovers. I have owned secondhand microwaves and unknown brand microwaves, and they have been more reliable than the GE Profile. My husband and I invested in the Profile series when we remodeled our kitchen. After a lifetime of moving and living in homes with much to be desired kitchens, we decided to spend money to provide ourselves with a functional kitchen. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved myself the trouble and purchased my appliances from another company. After having to call GE to send out a repair person 5 different times to work in our microwave oven, we are left with a nonworking microwave oven. It seems that a company that has made record profits from their faithful American fans could do the right thing and replace the microwave oven with something that works. Perhaps they do not have such a product. They have offered to let us buy a new one at a big discount, but they have not clarified what the percentage will be. The problem I have with this is that spending one more dollar on a product with no backing from the company it came from would be asking for more let down. I believe Ill have this lemon removed and quit before I take on any more consumer letdowns.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. I dont accept the premise that a new appliance should only last four years. I will replace my unusable microwave with a competitor’s brand and will pledge never to purchase a GE appliance again. I purchased a GE Microwave oven, model #JVM1540DP1BB and, in seven months, the interior paint started peeling. I contacted the company and they said, go ahead and use it. It wont hurt anything. (Well, actually, it doesnt heat as well now.) They offered me a discount on another GE Microwave. I advised them that the oven was manufactured three months prior to my purchase and so the Microwave was only ten months from birth to death - it was also made in Malaysia and so was purchased practically straight off the boat - and should have been covered under warranty. The response to that was, Im sorry. Im only authorized... Fine. Let me talk to your boss, I said.I was connected to another company mouthpiece who promised to send a serviceman out to look at it. The next week, said serviceman did come to the house. He told me they could take it in and ...see if they could fix it or they could give me a discount on another one. Again I iterated that the microwave should be replaced at no cost. He flat out told me, They wont do that.My next fiasco with this danger trap was several months later when it started turning on of its own accord. So, we had to keep the oven unplugged at all times unless actively in use. I again contacted GE and was again advised that they would be happy to offer me a discount on another... blah, blah, blah. After a couple of years of using this machine, I called GE one last time. I spoke to the regional vice-president, Gary **. The response this time was truly mind-boggling. They had no record of my having called previously!!! But, after telling them I felt their product was inherently defective by design and, not only would I never purchase another GE product EVER, I have emptied my house of any and all GE products right down to the light bulbs, have purged my mothers house, and advise everyone I know of my experience, recommending they, too, do not patronize GE.He began repeatedly screaming at me, What do you want me to do? I told him that, two or three years previous, I wanted them to replace a defective microwave. Now, and following their abhorrent customer service, I wouldnt want anything from them and, if they were to tell me the sky was blue and water was wet, I would not believe them. I was not inclined to pay six hundred dollars yearly for a new microwave oven, so there was nothing they had I would ever want. I then pointed out that I purchased a Sony microwave for my mother when my grandson was six years old. Hes twenty-four now and both the id and the oven are still going strong. Then HE hung up on ME! I have noticed others here who have had similar experience with GE Microwaves so my recommendation to anyone considering a new microwave oven is to steer clear of GE at all costs. I only gave them a one star rating because I couldnt give them a negative star rating.

Most currently, the power board did not shut off at the end of the cycle, overheated and melted the harness also. We were alerted when the odor of burnt plastic filled our home. It was fortunate that we were home and in the next room, or our house could have burned down. The dishwasher cannot be repaired. I will contact GE to see what, if anything they will do to compensate me, but I am not optimistic. I will never buy GL products again. I thought by buying top of the line products from a well-known manufacturer, I would have a quality product. I was totally wrong. Sometimes, you dont get what you pay for.

Sometimes there are dishwashing detergent (powder) left on the dishes. Nothing extra, very basic, it has regular or pot scrubber cycles, air dry or heat dry, a slot for dry rinse liquid, detergent slot, short wash cycle, upper rack, lower rack and flatware basket. Came with the house purchased 17+ years ago. White body with black upper control panel the entire width of the dishwasher. It is still in very good condition, but then I take care of everything, always rinse everything before placing them in the dishwasher. Never needed service yet.

I moved in to a newly-built home in Nov. 2010. Shortly after, my GE Profile microwave seemingly caught fire. We called for service and were offered a repair free of charge. We declined a repair and did receive a brand new appliance of the same model. Around June 2012, the exact same fire happened to the new one. I must admit that it took me about 9 months to report the problem because my family had been devastated with a lengthy illness and passing of my mother. While going through our trial, I shut down my mothers apartment and just started to use her countertop microwave. Realizing that I needed to address the problem with my microwave, I called and explained this to GE service. I guess that the representative was just doing her job and stated the year warranty spiel and had no concern of this being my second microwave within a two and a half year span and also the length of time that it had not been working. I was immediately given the cost for a serviceman to come out plus I was told that I would have to pay for any parts. When I went to Home Depot to price the microwave; the cost for my model was $278. I therefore decided. Why bother to have a defected model repaired? Who needs the aggravation? I will just eat my loss and buy another microwave. Be assured that it will not be a GE. I will never again buy a General Electric product.

The house now has a horrible smell of burnt plastic. Ill start the process tomorrow of contacting the insurance company and looking to get this odor out of our home and a different brand of dishwasher into our home.

I purchased this GE Profile dishwasher last June, I paid $1,499.00 for it and have had three (3) service calls. The first one said the water is not hot enough, the second one said run the water in sink and get hot before you use the dishwasher. The tech was here again this morning and called in to tech services and was told put plates on the right side of the rack only and the dishes will get clean. Are they kidding me? I called the 800 number for customer service and was told by Dominic (rep in customer service) that they would replace the dishwasher and allow me a 40% discount on a new one because this one is working as designed. It is my understanding that the dishwasher should wash dishes, so that tells me it is not working as designed. I want a new dishwasher, preferably one that washes the dishes and not one that I have to pay an additional 60%. Are you kidding me? This is not right. I have read the reviews on this dishwasher and it seems everyone who purchased the dishwasher I have are having the same problems and it is not working as designed. Please let me know asap when the replacement dishwasher will be delivered. I will not pay an additional 60% for another. It is not right that you would keep making excuses until warranty runs out. I notified you of this problem one month after I purchased it and I have lived with this problem for almost one year and now you tell me that you will give me a discount on a new one. I have already paid for a new dishwasher and that is what I expect in return. Thank you. I expect to hear from you soon.

We have a GE PROFILE dishwasher that has served us well for several years. Tonight, however, while it was doing the dishes the main circuit board caught fire. After turning the power off and trying to blow out the flame, we opened the door cover to find the main circuit board still smoldering. One of the relays on the circuit board had caught fire and started to burn through the circuit board melting it, the plastic cover and the wire harnesses. We were lucky to be home and awake when this happened and were able to take care of it. If we had been gone or asleep we probably would have lost our home!

GE Dishwaser Model # GDT580SMF2ES - My husband and I purchased an entire suite of GE Slate appliances in 2015 when we built our custom home. We purchased the refrigerator, glass-top range, range hood microwave, and dishwasher. We have experienced problems with the refrigerator Model # GFE28HMHCES twice. A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. We have done everything to rectify or repair the situation ourselves, and since it is no longer under warranty, we are left with an appliance that we either spend more money on to repair or toss and buy a new one. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY GE!

Bought a PDT845SSJ2SS in June. Two months later, it has a leak. Good news, has a leak detector which shuts down the machine. Bad news is that it leaks and the leak detector worked! Called GE. We dont have an authorized service technician in your area. We will get back to you within 3-5 days. Three days later, after I had raised rain with my appliance dealer, he arranged for a local dealer to come look at the machine. Scheduled that appointment - it was Friday, and We only come to your area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Next Tuesday is booked, so we will try for Friday. Then, someone from an organization called Platinum Services calls and says GE has assigned the ticket to them. Shes going to try to schedule a diagnostic appointment in the next 7-10 BUSINESS days. Told her to forget it (found out she was calling from Lowes and had to find a technician before she could schedule.) End of week 1. Following week, someone else from GE calls and asks if I was cancelling my service request. In the course of the conversation, she asks to confirm the model GE RANGE that I have. Kinda lost it on her... On Thursday serviceman from local dealer comes. Turns on the dishwasher - it leaks exactly where I had said it would. Need to order a part and GE will not expedite. End of week 2. Next week - crickets. Nothing, Nada, mushroom mode (in the dark and being fed BS). Called my appliance dealer today and told him to come pick up the dishwasher - says he cannot do that. I explained, “I will forfeit the money I paid - I dont want a dishwasher that leaks in the first two months of use.” He tell me GE released the part yesterday...whatever THAT means and he HOPES repairman will come next Tuesday to repair. So, I have had a new GE dishwasher for 3 months and it has only worked for 2. Be aware! I assume partial responsibility for this goat rope - I faithfully refer to Consumer Reports when purchasing appliances and electronics. I suggest you do the same... you will find GE listed AFTER BOSCH, KITCHENAID, KENMORE and others. Also, realize the GE brand is now a CHINESE company. Caveat Emptor!

GE Microwave was making intermittent buzzing noise 1 month after purchase. Called GE & they said they could send a tech out to check it but if they didnt find anything I would be charged a service call. I stated it would only do it once in a while so was concerned it wouldnt do it when tech was here & I would be charged so I passed on the tech. Microwave continued to make noise periodically but seemed to get less as time went on. 1 year & 10 months later it started to sound like it was arcing & shut off. Again it was periodic. Called GE. They sent a tech out & it only shut off but no arcing sound or intermittent starting & stopping. Tech stated it probably was door micro switch, but when GE called me back they said he stated it probably was circuit board. Whatever the cause it is still what I would call arcing & going off & on.GE stated They could give me a discount on a new microwave which amounted to cost of $100.00 more than I paid for it in the first place.

I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

We purchased a GE Model JVM 3160DF3WW microwave oven in October 2016. The handle broke on this unit the first week after we bought it. It then worked fine for 10 months. In August 2017 it began throwing the circuit breaker erratically, then whenever it was turned on and has not worked for a full day since. It has been repaired by Appliance Solutions of Utah at least 6-7 times (by two different technicians) and still has not worked. At least $500 worth of new parts have been put into a $200 microwave by them. After numerous calls to GE, they have offered to send me a Goodwill Certificate for the amount of purchase after I buy another GE microwave. With our experience with this microwave (inoperable and unrepairable for 5 months) I dont intend to buy another GE microwave; especially considering the one available locally is the exact same model as the one we have, which was purchased, from Sears, for $191.42. Appliance Solutions of Utah has all the records of the NUMEROUS unsuccessful repair attempts made on the unit since August 2017. I requested a refund so that a different unit could be purchased. Over the course of the past 5 months I have talked to at least four different customer representatives, after multiple hours on hold. None could find any record of the previous discussions. GEs final suggested solution was to offer us a $100 Goodwill Certificate, the title in itself being ironic. So, after buying a microwave which was defective in the first place, spending $75 to have it installed, being without the use of the microwave for five months, and being told that, GE does not offer refunds, that is what the company feels they should do to rectify the situation. Setting aside an implied warranty of fitness, the fact that the repair agents sent out by GE could not repair the microwave after numerous attempts would seem sufficient grounds to fully refund the purchase price. That is the least a reputable company would be expected to have done. GEs position is that the store selling the microwave would be responsible for a refund; apparently ignoring the terms of the warranty. I this point, I am considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and a claim in small claims court for Breach of Warranty. Obviously, the microwave was never repaired per the terms of the warranty as it is still inoperable and has never worked since the initial report to GE. We will NEVER buy another GE product; Buyer beware!

My GE Profile Dishwasher is a plain Jane without the bells and whistles, yet is a trusted, working appliance. Honestly, the only beef I have with this model is that plastic articles do not dry completely unless placing the controls on Heated Dry, and leaving the dishes in the dishwasher for the entire drying cycle. I have had my kids place some dishes in the dishwasher, caked in day old food. I left the plates in the dishwasher, hoping to teach my kids a lesson about rinsing off their dishes before placing them in. Imagine my surprise when after running the dishwasher through its normal cycle, the plates came out spotlessly clean! Impressive!

New house and all appliances came w/ it, used washer once to make sure plumbed correctly. It is the best storage container and no one looks in it... by not using it saved $38 a month in water bill and controlled water usage, throwing used water out on plants in drought, if need to sterilize put bleach in rinse water. I had 10 family members may have to use it other than for storage. Love to get a clothes pole for hanging laundry but God given rights of free sun and drying has been removed from us by associations. My machine is there if I need it. But great multipurpose and never complains... course after 13 years, crumbs in bottom and should run soon to clean it out... Its black and as this was a speculation home, builders chose colors... it doesnt show dirt as white appliances does... would buy same color again.. although real dark with oak kitchen.

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitch
We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

No matter which cycle or combination of features I use, my dishes have yet to be cleaned. Contrary to advertising above, I do need to rinse dishes prior to cleaning in dishwasher and also rewash dishes after dishwasher cycle is completed.
