Continental Furnace Troubleshooting

If you're looking for help fixing your Continental Furnace, look no further! Our comprehensive Continental Furnace Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.

Not heating?
Either the furnace’s circuit breaker has shorted or the fuse is blown. You’ll have to replace the blown switch or reset the furnace’s circuit breaker.
Your furnace’s igniter may be either cracked or defective. Should the igniter be cracked, you’ll have to replace it. Otherwise, test with a multimeter for continuity.

Cycling irregularly?
The thermostat is likely not adjusting correctly. If your thermostat has an adjustable calibration scale, use this to adjust the heat anticipator. If this doesn’t work or isn’t an option, replace the thermostat.

Not blowing hot air?
Your unit’s blower motor has either burned out or the connecting belt has snapped. Troubleshoot to see if the blower motor is receiving power: if it isn’t running, the motor has failed, and you’ll have to replace it. If it does run, then the connecting belt has snapped, and you’ll have to replace the belt.

Blowing too much air?
The relay that regulates the amount of voltage that is sent to your furnace’s blower motor on the control board has failed. You will have to replace the control board.
Your thermostat’s contact that controls the blower motor’s functions might be stuck in a closed position. You’ll have to use a multimeter to check for continuity if this appears to be the issue then replace the thermostat.

Starting and then stopping shortly after?
Your furnace’s flame sensor detects whether or not a flame is present. Should the sensor be dirty or defective, it will not be able to read a flame’s presence. If the flame sensor is dirty, use an abrasive pad to wipe it clean. If it’s defective, replace the flame sensor.

After a search of all the local AC repair shops, I called this one, because it was the only one that had a review from an Elite Yelper. Basically all the other locals have a lot of reviews, and a lot of positives, but the accounts are suspicious, with few friends and only a handful if not only 1 review. Northern Continental was the first with some believable and useful comments. So I set up an appointment online and was immediately contacted by Tess, to share more info and set a date and time. Tess was patient and helpful and was able to answer many of he preliminary questions I had. Based on this experience, the business felt legitimate and worth proceeding further. Eric came to the house as scheduled. He diagnosed the capacitor and fan motor in about 10 minutes. He walked me through the why's and how's and gave me options and fair prices. The cost came up very fair, based on my researching local competitors. Eric was professional, polite, knowledgeable, customer focused, and he got the job done in less than an hour. I would highly recommend this company to the local community.

Called Northern Continental because my AC stopped working, of course on what was to be the hottest weekend of the year thus far. It was today, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. I tried several other companies before coming across their name and giving them a call. The other companies could not work me in. Northern Continental said they would work me in the same day. Called at 9:15AM and the Tech, Dave, was on site by 10:30AM. That is excellent customer service. Dave was super friendly and got my system charged back up and functional. All in all, great company, great experience, and great customer service. I highly recommend them and will be contacting Northern Continental in the future! Thanks a million!!

Continental has a fair amount of features that make it a good buy for the long-term. Most parts pull double-duty, such as the swept fan blades that maximize airflow and also reduce noise from the operation. The filter drier operates similarly, keeping out dust and debris from your unit but also increasing longevity by preserving performance.

Recently had a tank less hot water heater installed. Really pleased with Northern Continental. My sales guy, Dan, was very thorough and patiently answered all questions that I had. The sales process easy -- no pressure, just looking to provide us with what we wanted. Our install was scheduled the week after we put our deposit down. Our installer, Scott, was very good. Took about 6 hours from beginning to end on the install. We are very pleased with our experience with Northern Continental.

I needed a new furnace and air conditioner. I specifically wanted a Trane, Carrier or Lennox brand. After researching 4 companies, I had each of them come out and give me a quote. Unfortunately, for Carrier and Lennox, I could not find one that was accredited to do installations or was a member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and their prices were extremely high. I found that Northern was accredited and has been a member of the BBB since 2007 and has an A+ rating. I chose them. On the day of my inspection, Dan was on time and wearing his face mask. He did his inspection and within 2 days, I had my quote. It was very reasonable. I chose them to do the installation. On the day of the installation, the installers showed up on time, with their face masks. Everything went fine! They did their job, cleaned up after themselves, had me pay and that was it. Smooth as gravy! I would recommend them to anyone!
