I did a little bit of research on the internet, and then I saw a Fisher Paykel dishwasher for sale. I liked the idea of the drawers. I thought that was a very good idea. And it went along with my beautiful wood cabinets so I went ahead and purchased it. It is a used item, however. The top drawer is a little bit quieter than the bottom drawer. I often wonder if maybe it might need a new belt or something. It seems to be a bit loud. But I would recommend it to a friend. Its an unusual item. It is better than what I was using in the past. And even with the sound quality, I would still go ahead and recommend it to another one.
Every white towel we washed, including high quality ones purchased this year, has developed holes. To be sure that we weren’t adding too much bleach, we have only filled the bleach dispenser half full and diluted it with water to the fill mark. We are about to throw this washer out and get a different one. Another thing we don’t like is that you can’t fill the tub with enough water to just soak things.
This is the second set of washer and dryer we have owned. Our daughter has the first set, and after 15 years, it is still working great. Due to a re-location, we purchased a new washer and dryer. The washer works fine. The dryer, on the other hand, is not working out. We had the repairman come out due to the fact that the dryer overheated. It had to be taken apart and all the lint had to cleaned up. As per the repairman, it is a design flaw. This has to happen every third week; the lint builds up so fast so I empty the lint holder every time I finish drying a load. We have had our dryer vent cleaned from the outside, and just to be sure, we cleaned it from the inside also. We are not happy with this dryer. My husband said we should just get a cheap dryer somewhere. I had so much confidence in Fisher Paykel that’s why we bought this second set.
I chose this counter depth refrigerator RF175WDX1 as part of a kitchen remodel. After 3 months or so, all is good. It is quiet and looks good in the kitchen. I purposely chose this model without water & ice, but the one thing I would suggest is a separate, narrow shelf for ice trays.
We bought a Fisher Paykel washer/dryer set in 2009 for our new house. The dryer model number is DE27CW1. We had a six year warranty and used one call for the washer. In 2019 the dryer would fail to dry clothes. We cleaned the vent pathway and lint buildup in the front of the unit, pressed reset and we were good to go until a load of towels didn’t dry and nothing after that. Removed the front panel, pressed reset again and my husband noted that the heating element was red hot even though the unit wasn’t drying. After receiving an incorrect part from Sears Direct we decided to be grateful we didn’t have a fire and purchased a Miele set. We have pictures of the red hot heating element. There is information on the web about a lawsuit by a family in Washington State who had a fire with their Fisher Paykel dryer. Why wasn’t the Fisher Paykel dryer recalled?
We purchased a new Fisher & Paykel washer and top loading dryer 4 years ago when we built a new house. We were assured by the salesperson of the quality and how they have very little maintenance issues. After a year and a half, we had to replace the heating element and fuses (luckily under warranty) and this took 2-3 weeks for them to figure out was wrong and repair (said it was fixed twice and had to return). Here we are 2 years later, and we had to replace the heating element and fuses again. So this time, it is over $350 out of our pocket since we are out of warranty. The heating element for a dryer should last for more than 2 years and this is obviously a design flaw or something. It looks like we need to replace the machine as we cant continue to pump money into a lemon.
You can feel comfortable setting the temperature, spin cycle, etc. according to the booklet that comes with it and you have TONS of sensors that determine if anything unusual is being laundered. If so, the units automatically reset to take care of things. Both the washer & dryer open on top. These are manufactured in Sweden. While a little pricey, they last without any service calls for a very long time and are extremely reliable. The dryer filter is super easy to remove and clean, so it’s no trouble to clean after each load.
I was first introduced to Fisher Paykel dishwasher drawers about 6 years ago. They were two drawers placed separately on either side of the kitchen sink. They were really wonderful and I had no problems with them. I then bought and renovated two new homes and put fisher paykel dishwashing drawers in both homes. They are the stacked drawers. Have not had problem with them except the bottom one started leaking and the top one smells horribly of mold. I feel it in my lungs every time I breathe in the air after opening the top drawer. I called customer service and spoke to someone from New Zealand (very difficult time understanding her) who said that I should use let it shine from Home Depot and run it through a cycle. Well this did not help so now I have to endure this terrible mold smell every time I open the top drawer. After this experience I am very doubtful I would ever buy another fisher paykel product.
I love the dishwasher but would recommend that there be some kind of display of the length of cycle and how long the cycle has to complete.
Our experience was extraordinarily good. I was impressed. The equipment is nice, the design is nice. I’m an engineer so I say this. But the brand name on the outside is DCS. We bought the six-burner gas oven, too. And we just bought a new oven for our rental property. There’s only a couple of companies in the world that I’d recommend for appliances at all, and Fisher & Paykel is one of them. The service and the people that sold them to us in all cases, we bought several, were first class. The people were knowledgeable, thorough, responsive, and the stuff arrived on time. The pricing was very competitive and the quality of the devices is, from a mechanical perspective and electronic perspective, excellent. And in terms of its user friendliness to my wife who uses them most of the time, the biggest problem with the dishwasher is you can’t hear it. The wonderful thing about the six-burner stove is it has a simmer control and most stoves don’t have that. I was a professional chef and so I know the Viking and Garland brands pretty well. And the DCS stove comes as close to a Garland as you’re going to get at a very good price. And that’s very important to know because people don’t understand. Most people aren’t chefs. So the stuff has been super. I’ve been very pleased. Keep up the good work because remember, the two most important things in the world are that they should work but the customer service has to be first class and it always has been. My wife’s very best friend is building a new house and we recommended all of Fisher & Paykel stuff to her yesterday.
We bought Fisher Paykel washer last year and I cant say enough good things about it so when our Maytag drier broke I bought the Fisher Paykal drier that matched the washer even though the salesman recommended another brand. Ive given the drier several months and I still hate it. The worst problem is that the auto dry function does not work. The clothes consistently come out over dried. In fact Im surprised my bedspread didnt catch on fire in the drier. When I removed it (because I felt it had been in the drier too long) the panel still said it was damp but it was so cooked that it was completely puckered up and crisp in places. I had to replace it. Clothes still have lint all over them and I hate the fact that the timer can only be set for predetermined amounts of time and that I have to wait for the lid to unlock every time I want to open the lid. It’s a bad design flaw! I wish I could replace it but it seems Im stuck with it now. All I can do is to warn others.
I made the mistake of purchasing the FP Eco washer, reading the reviews - a total waste of money. It is only 3 years old and has a water pump 3 mo. old; I purchased it from Craigslist. I got one wash cycle out of it and it stopped draining. All we get is error code #37. Weve researched this error code 37 and tried to fix it ourselves and cannot. We now have to go out and buy a new one. I plan to purchase an Amana which we had before that lasted for 8 years without one repair ever.
Its a shame that all the people who have left complaints here, dont have a friend or family member thats a appliance tech, because the Fisher & Paykel washer & top load dryer are the best laundry set Ive ever owned. Fortunately for me that I have a brother who not only is a tech, but also worked for Fisher & Paykel, so he knows their products, inside and out. When I 1st got them and saw the tops were all plastic, I thought I was forced into the biggest mistake of my life. Because like many other people here, I got rid of my Maytag set that were still working after 30 years with very little service. Although Ive had some issues with the top load dryer, mainly the lint build-up behind the grill that he vacuums out once a month. Ive only had to replace a lint screen and bearings kit in the 6 years that Ive own it. Since I only had to pay for the parts and not for labor or service charge, my cost have been very minimal. As for the washer, the only problem is that when we do large loads it usually splashes water on to the basement floor. Since its only a concrete floor, its not a major issue. The only thing my brother can think why we are not experiencing the same problems with leaking pumps causing computer board to burn out is, we all bought our machines manufactured in New Zealand before they opened their Ohio, USA factory.Considering all the laundry my family does in a week, the Fisher & Paykel set has held up very well, so far. I know its largely in part because my brother is an appliance tech and not everyone is as fortunate. But Im very happy with them. The reverse- tumble dryer has cut down on my ironing, saving a great deal of time and energy.
We had bought a new Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. It sat for awhile. We were in the middle of doing our model, installed it and it wouldnt run so I had registered the unit and she insisted that I show the proof even. They repaired it and then asked me for a copy of my receipt. Theyve done nothing but harass me. Theyre charging me $135 for something that they never even said, We may have to bill for this. Well have to send it through to see if its covered under warranty. They just fixed it and then called me and said, How come you havent paid this? They didnt even give me an invoice but call me and harass. I just got a phone call a couple of days ago again. I would never ever use them. It was horrible.
I purchased a Fisher & Paykel washing machine. Its fine. It works. It offers more control than competing high efficiency models. Although none of the high efficiency models offer the kind of control the old classic machines do.
I have recently purchased 3 Fisher Paykel appliances, Refrigerator (RF195AUUX1), 36 dual gas/electric stove and 2 drawer dishwasher totaling about $15K. The refrigerators ice maker broke after 13 months. I called and was told that the warranty was only 1 year so I had to foot the bill myself. Only 3 months later the ice maker broke again. I called Fisher Paykel and asked that they cover the bill this time explaining my large purchase and my sense of poor quality in the ice maker if it breaks this often. I was denied without hesitation. No ability to talk to the person making the decision on not to cover it. Any reasonable company that values customer service would recognize the fact that I made a large purchase of products and that there may very likely be an issue with the ice maker and cover the expense.
My Fisher & Paykel dual fuel (gas top/electric oven) is by far the worst appliance I have ever purchased. From day one after the installation, the oven wouldnt work properly because of, what I later learned, is a PLASTIC lock which came broken. Without this lock, the sensor believes that the oven door is open and the oven wont work correctly. According to the technician, this lock breaks frequently, and he mentions he doesnt understand why a piece so important is made of plastic. The technician comes back with the part to fix the issue, but when he puts the oven all back together, it seemed that the oven door was no longer centered in place. He said that it should not be a problem, after all, the oven was now working. Although I thought it was a very poor customer service response for an appliance so expensive, I decided to bite the bullet, as I had spent too long without an oven. Despite my compromise, a week after this repair the door completely sunk to one side. As a result, the oven was again non-operational. Another technician comes, this time to tell me that the door hinge had an issue. He didnt have the spare part, so I go another month without an oven.At the day scheduled for the technician to come to install the new hinge, he missed the appointment, allegedly because previous appointments that ran late. So now I have at least 3 more weeks with no oven until he can come again. After weeks, the technician is back. He installs the new hinge, and of course, the door is again not centered. The oven doesnt work properly, because, without a centered door, the locking mechanism doesnt work well. Interestingly enough, he insists that everything is fine, and tells me that the lock is only used for the oven self-clean function, which I should never use because everyone who uses it requests a repair right after due to oven parts that get burned and makes the oven malfunction.Interesting to know that the oven is even worse than I thought, and that the self-clean feature is unusable. But back to my case, even though the lock is not essential, it affects how the door open and closes, and the oven does not work well without everything centered and in place. His answer: I cant do anything about it. Now I call Fisher & Paykel to complain, and their solution? To send another technician. Im now nearly one year without an oven. I simply cant bake anything. So my advice to all of you considering to buy a Fisher & Paykel appliance, believe the bad reviews and stay away from it. I was one of those who thought no, it cant be that poorly made at such a high price tag. Well, it is, and its customer service is just as bad.
I got the refrigerator from Fisher and Paykel because it was the only one that fit. They should keep making them because a lot of people dont want to gut their kitchen in order to buy a refrigerator. It is excellent and everything seems to last longer. Its a better refrigerator but it makes strange noises which it has made it since day one. You dont hear it running but I think its gearing up to run. So it must be normal noise. I even had to buy the floor model because the place where I got it didnt know how to order them and they didnt even know what price to charge me. It fits a standard, old-fashioned, standard cabinet height. These new refrigerators that are fancy and glitz are too big for a normal house unless youre a millionaire.
Fisher Paykel Intuitive Dryer - We purchased a new Fisher Paykel washer and dryer three years ago which was installed in our new home on an interior wall with a straight shot through the roof exhaust pipe. After only four months of using the new dryer, the exhaust pipe became stopped-up with a considerable amount of lint. The exhaust cap on the roof had to be removed to allow access for removal of the lint from the exhaust pipe. This process had to be repeated about every 4 to 5 months since. Since the dryer lint basket very seldom collected lint and had to be emptied, four weeks ago we had the service technician out who determined the lint screen had been torn in numerous areas. Since the lint screen is within an enclosed area, he advised there must be some defect in the dryer lint basket which was cutting the screen. Over a period of time if left unchecked, this could have become a fire hazard. Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening again? If so, please advise.
I was contacted by a Fisher & Paykel customer service representative who read my complaint. She explained to me that all I needed was a copy of my receipt and she would see what could be done to take care of my problem. I knew I purchased my dryer at Lowe’s so I thought that I would be able to call them to get a copy. Well, that didnt work out quite like I thought. Lowe’s on the back end couldnt find my receipt so I thought I was out of luck. The Fisher & Paykel representative said not to worry, just give me the make and model number and we would go about this a different way. So I did. Fisher & Paykel set up an appointment with a service tech who got the part I needed and came out and installed it. My dryer is now working and my wife is happy. Now that my wife is happy, Im happy. Thanks, Fisher & Paykel, for standing behind your product. To all those who are complaining: it’s not what happens that matters, it’s how the company responds to the problem!
Eco smart washer - Well I bought this in 2011 in Lakeport at the Sears. I noticed right away that my whites werent getting white, even though I use Clorox. The next thing was having to constantly re-balance the clothes. Also, my clothes constantly get wound around the thing in the middle. The paddles should have gone all the way to the bottom of the tub. Instead theres like 4 below where clothes can get stuck. Then I did a test with the hot water. I pressed wash in hot water and when it was half-full, I opened the machine and it was cold. Well I tried turning off the cold valve and then I tried using the cold button seeing if they were switched. Then I had a problem where it wouldnt drain. Well it drains now. Clothes still get stuck, get stretched and sometimes ripped, and then come to find out that the hot button doesnt mean wash with hot. It means fill to 2 with hot and then continue filling with cold. The repairman for Sears phoned Paykel and that is what the tech told him is normal for washing in hot.I am steaming mad. Who wants to join a class action lawsuit with me? I am that angry.
I like the Fisher & Paykel two drawer dishwasher. Unfortunately the top drawer computer board has never worked since the day it was installed - it wont shut off. We talked to them and originally they were going to send somebody but then they said it was out of warranty. We had bought it but didnt install it until a year after. It stayed in the crate as we were renovating the house. Were still in the process of getting something done. Id hate to buy a whole new computer board for something that didnt work since the day it was installed. The bottom drawer works fine so it has nothing to do with the installation or electricity. It has good design but not the best quality.
I chose Fisher & Paykel because of the drawer dishwasher back then. The model was very good. Its better than others. I particularly like the drawer feature.
I was told in the store that the Fisher & Paykel refrigerator was a very quiet model, but its not. Its noisy and I did have to call them because since I got it, I cant sleep at night. Its cycling continually and extremely loud, like a jet taking off. The technician came out and said that I didnt have much in my freezer and suggested putting in jugs of water. But since then, I do have a roommate who uses the freezer and its a bit quieter, but not as quiet as I thought it would be. I had been concerned that my old ref was not energy efficient and thats why I got rid of it and got this one and it seems to be functioning okay, but I dont know how much energy its saving me. I am disappointed with the noise and I check back at the store and they said well, the new appliances do cycle on and are sensitive to drops in temperature. So it could be I didnt get complete information and didnt research this completely as I needed to. Im happy that its got a modern design and I like the size. If it were a bit quieter, I would be happier.
We purchased this very expensive machine and it simply does NOT clean dishes well. We had the dealer out multiple times (they were great) - 2 of those so he could call FP technicians and work with them. I always had to call FP back. They asked me to get the dealer back out - the dealer said no. FP said they would elevate to DM and after 2 months (called back twice) I called again and got disconnected after waiting 20 minutes. My 30 year old Maytag cleans better. The rack broke as well on the FP. The people on the phone were nice - no one ever followed up and bothers calling back when they disconnect you. I would never buy their brand again. The machine is pretty but poorly designed - unless you have tiny, thin dishes there is no way to pack it without things touching and they will tell you that is why it is not clean. First - bad designed racks. Second that is simply not true - I am sure it would clean better but I know how I could stuff the heck out of my Maytag and it always cleaned. I started packing their half full to test their theory and I still got uncleaned, grimy, crusty dishes. Bad product - Worse Service. I cant afford a new one. I spent the extra money on this b/c I figured it would save money. I might as well do the dishes by hand.
Bought refrigerator, from beginning problems with door. Eventually, after a year plus of attempted repairs, company replaced door. Then, after year, replacement door failed as well. But company said that 2-year warranty ran from original purchase, and we were around 26 months from original purchase, so even though company replaced defective door with another defective door, they refused to do anything. When it works it is great, but company does not stand behind products when there is a problem.
Now as you are now aware, the initial report was due to the fridge freezer over icing around the fan area on the rear panel. In memory all that was fixed was the rear panel. The fan cover/vent was not even replaced and was left without one. I dont believe anything was done about the over icing of the back fan area. Then in late September 15 my customer reports the freezer is still defrosting intermittently throughout the many months, but only occasionally. So in September your serviceman visits and says its the door hinge/latch not closing properly causing the light to come on and thus defrosting the freezer. So he fixes it, then the problem continues. So then he orders new hinge latch parts and replaces it and the problem continues. Meanwhile the month and another month has gone by where my customer has a freezer which is defrosting all her food. Food is expensive and she has 6 children and is pregnant. So by now I have spoken to management in your service department a several times to discuss a fast solution. To be informed nothing can be done except send another service man out to fix it.I requested a different serviceman as he has not been able to fix the problem, always stating it is the door hinge/latch. I think he has been there 5 times now. Your management team advises me the serviceman is the person who decides if the fridge can be fixed or not. If he states it cant then the item will be replaced or refunded. (The technician states he is not allowed to report it cant be fixed. He HAS to fix it!!!) So now we are in December the heat is coming in, xmas food needs cooling and the fridge is not keeping the food cold enough either. The lady is pregnant and concerned she may get sick from food/dairy that is not being cooled effectively. So last week I asked management to send another technician. They said this was not possible but they will instruct the technician to ring the service team to discuss the fridge while he was there, to insure the fridge was assessed correctly. To ensure this was going to happen I, the manager of the appliance rental company, attended todays visit to hopefully finalise this ongoing saga. The technician immediately commented on the hinge/latch again.I reported to him that the new parts he replaced did not fix the freezer door coming ajar when the fridge door closed, because I myself checked the problem the very evening he fixed it. And the problem was not any better. I advised of him having to ring the service team while we were all present. He said he had no instruction to do so. But he did, which was a waste of time because your phone service consistently takes close to an hour to speak to someone. I know because I have had to ring this department many times now.So I communicated I dont believe the door is the initial issue. It may be now as it has been tampered with a few times to fix it. Much to his frustration he started to investigate into the freezer. Oh he reports the fan has been intermittently turning off/ not working, therefore this would defrost the fridge slightly and intermittently. I looked in and the fan area, behind the rear panel was solidly blocked with ice, preventing the fan to turn even if it did work intermittently. He says thats ok we will just order all these parts and replace them in a few weeks. When the fan was reported faulty/broken I believe this was the cause of the very first problem back in October 14 and explains why the freezer has been intermittently defrosting. Your technician said it himself. MEANWHILE the lady is losing all her food (which is expensive), the heat is upon us and christmas is here. AND WE ARE STILL WAITING for a fridge to be working. The lady also wants to be reimbursed for food expenses as her patience has also run out. Initially I wanted the fridge replaced. Now after months of ineffective service, I am expecting a refund as it would be bad business to purchase/rent any of Fisher and Paykel appliances simply due to your warranty service procedures. So what to do now? As it is now heading into the 4th month and I think the 5th visit to fix this fridge, and it is still not fixed, I have no more patience. I will not be ringing anymore to be told all you can do is send the technician out again, to assess and fix it. This seems to be the solution even when the fridge is not being fixed. Please consider this email as a formal complaint to be forwarded to the relevant department. Please also be informed I will be sending this email to Consumer Affairs and providing feedback on Fisher and Paykels Facebook on the very poor warranty service provided by your team.I have been continually bumped to alternative team members whom contradict what can be done about FIXING this fridge. I am an appliance rental company whom purchases a lot of appliances. Under no circumstances will I purchase another appliance manufactured by Fisher & Paykel. I will also be informing the 110 franchisees of the ineffective warranty service your company provides. In our business warranty work costs us time, money and sales!
I love this fridge, very sleek design, bought it for the quality and light stainless steel look. However, the original door had a dent in it and that is where it all started. It took 4 months for the service centre to replace it, only to be a different quality stainless, visibly darker shade/lower quality stainless (rough to the touch) than the original. Now I have a brand new kitchen with a horribly looking fridge. Almost a year later, I have to constantly follow up with FP customer service, who promised me a call back which never happens. This is how you ruin a perfectly great brand by horrible customer service.
I bought a Fisher & Paykel washing machine 4 years ago and it has broken down for the second time! It gets to the spin cycle and stops! I have read some reviews on here about their washing machines and I wish I had seen them before I bought mine. I spent a lot of money on this and bought it on the recommendation of the salesman. I will never again purchase anything made by Fisher & Paykel!
We have the two drawer dishwasher, which we love. BUT, the machine stinks! A lot! After running the machine, there is always water left in the bottom of the machine. This is usually in the top drawer only, and it reeks. Weve cleaned the machine, had the repairman out, rinsed the food off the dishes so theres nothing lying around to go bad, but it still smells. Its like stagnant marsh water. Does any one else have this problem?
We purchased Fisher Paykel Top Loading washer and dryer in 2007 from Lowes. Along with the 1-year warranty, we bought the 4-year extended warranty. The lids are plastic and cracked! Lowes warrantied three replacement lids for the washer and three lids for the dryer. They would not warranty more than three per appliance. Fisher Paykel stated not to use stain remover on our laundry as it affects the plastic in the lid. Our warranty ran out on 11/24 and on 11/25, the dryer bearings went bad. I really thought appliances lasted longer. Its very disappointing especially for the money we paid.
My other choice would have been KitchenAid but I think they quit making these double drawer dishwashers that I got. The old dishwasher had stopped working. The unit I replaced was real cheap... It’s no comparison. But I don’t get to use this one - my tenant uses it but he’s not complaining about it. And I’ve asked him a couple of times, “How is it working?” And he says it’s good. I’m the one who purchased it and searched it out and make sure I’m making the right decision. The rep was very knowledgeable and answered my questions
We owned a KitchenAid dishwasher for 30 years without a hitch. When we updated the kitchen, the salesman from Grand Appliance recommended the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer. What a mistake. It has never worked right. We have had so many service calls that I cant count them. I will replace it eventually with another KitchenAid. Perhaps you should take this one and analyze it like they do in med school with corpses - and perhaps you can figure out where you went wrong. By the way, not only is the electrical stuff faulty, but it simply does not clean the dishes. If I wash them first, it might sort of rinse them. Plus, to run it for 132 minutes for the small amount of dishes it holds is not exactly eco-friendly.
I surprised my wife with a brand-new Fisher Paykel double-drawer dishwasher because I got tired of cleaning and servicing her old one. They are not inexpensive. Within one month, the start button receded into the chassis. The service person found that the lighted collar around the start button was made of cheap plastic and had simply broken making the machine inoperable. I would think for the amount of money that durn machine cost, they could afford to at least make the plastic parts durable enough to last more than a month.
Weve had our washer and dryer for 4 1/2 years and had to call the repairman twice. I have to constantly reset our overheat button at least 1-2 times every week! This is unacceptable. Its loud and does a horrible job collecting lint. I have to vacuum it out weekly as it doesnt really collect like it should. We have to buy a new machine because the cost to call a repairman out plus a possible part is not worth investing in this piece of junk.
Its quiet, it cleans the dishes, it does its job. Its lost its WOW factor on looks. The New Dish Drawer is plain, boring, no style, no elegance, not like my previous Fisher and Paykel Dish Drawer.
I purchased an AquaSmart washer and AeroSmart dryer by Fisher Paykel about 8 years ago. Out of the box the dryer had issues with the lid rubbing the drum. I called for service from a list of repairmen given to me by FP. Not a single person EVER called me back despite repeated calls and messages. I guess this might have been my first clue that even the repair guys wanted nothing to do with these machines. Finally, my husband shimmed the lid with a screw and this seemed to take care of the issue. Recently a bearing went out and prior to that the heat sensor. This week the washer has water dripping into it which from what I have read has something to do with the valve inlet and is about a $200 fix, if we DIY. I have had scum, I think is the term, on my clothes despite running the cleaning cycle every other month and rigidly measuring my detergent. Needless to say I am currently washer shopping. My husband has threatened to drag the washer behind his truck until its destroyed. He absolutely refuses to put another cent into either of these lemons.
Phenomenal service from F&P - We purchased a F&P Ecosmart washing machine from Lowe’s in August 2008 at the salespersons behest. We didnt purchase the store warranty as our previous Amana washing machine lasted for 13 years. A few months before the 2-year manufacturers warranty expired, the washing machine stopped working. We contacted F&P and they quickly had it fixed at their expense with a pump replacement. Well, it happened again this week, only now its four years from date of purchase and we have no warranty. So last night, I was surfing the web about problems with these machines and came across this site. I thought wed just be stuck with a lemon since there are so many complaints, so we had resolved to just get rid of the machine and buy another brand instead of having anyone try to fix it. But in reviewing this site, I saw someone from F&P posting to every complaint, apologizing to the customer and giving a phone number to call. So I called the number last night and left a voicemail, not really expecting to hear from anyone. Well, someone from F&P (Lisette) called me back first thing this morning! And less than four hours after speaking with her, I am sitting here at home listening to the sound of my working washing machine again! She sent someone out at F&Ps expense. He replaced the defective pump with a newly designed pump that he assured me should last a very, very long time. He said we shouldnt have any more problems with it at all. So I am quite amazed at F&Ps quick and caring response! So even though we would do a lot more research before buying another F&P machine, I can personally testify that at least they stand behind the problems their machines have! Id like to think that an American company wouldve done the same, but something tells me otherwise. Thank you very much Lisette!
The Fisher Paykel dual drawer dishwasher is an excellent new example of high quality and performance in a kitchen dish washing appliance. The dual drawer is engineered wonderfully to provide multiple ways to perform, and perform it does! The two drawers provide flexibility beyond a normal/standard design. The loading capabilities are different yet provided with a lot of forethought given to providing space. It utilizes much more of the actual inside space of the two drawer/washers. Once you understand the loading capabilities of the provided inside racks and adjustment capabilities, the loading capabilities are creative and useful. Three simple buttons on the outside of each drawer provide easy execution of functions. The dual washers are extremely easy to start, stop or pause at any time, using the three simple buttons. The system has various wash cycles and times all easily accessed and executed by another single button conveniently located inside either drawers top edge. A small LED lit screen on each drawer face provides a moving icon that lets the user know have knowledge of what stage of a cycle the wash drawer is executing. The LED also shows the cycle time duration working backwards from a start time to the finish of the cycle. The Fisher Paykel system is very quiet working washer. Yes, you can hear some functions executing some times during the cycle, but it is very quiet overall. Most importantly, the Fisher Paykel Dual Washing system cleans and shines dishes, glassware and utensils with precision to a sparkling bright clean. This is especially true if the user does not allow large amounts of food to enter the system. Pre-rinsing is any dishwashers best friend! Use this kitchen appliance/tool correctly, and you will have a great dish washing experience with this product. By far, the Fisher Paykel Dual Dish Washing system is the highest quality, best working, and easy to use dish washing appliance I have ever had in any of my kitchens. I highly recommend the Fisher Paykel Dual Drawer Dish Washing Appliance/System for any kitchen.
We have had the washer dryer set about 4 years. A year ago the alleged timer switch went out. We called Fisher Paykel. They told us to pay for a service tech to inspect the dryer and let them know if it’s faulty. Then if so, they would replace. I went through the steps they asked and had the switch replaced at no cost to me. A year later, I am having the same problem. They don’t sell this dryer any longer. And again, they want me to pay for someone to come out and inspect and let them know if the switch is faulty. Really? Just like the other complaints, I really don’t think having the same issue and having to wait several weeks for repair is reasonable, nor is it reasonable to have to pay for the service call out of pocket and now having to take off work for the same issue they fixed a year ago.
Can I give 0 stars? I feel I was duped by the sleek look and promised amazing performance of this oven (Double Wall Oven WODV30). It is gorgeous, and I fell victim to the wonderfully smooth roll out racks, 12 settings for each oven (top and bottom), and supposed long, worry-free life. I had this oven installed in my newly renovated kitchen in October 2014. It worked super for three months. I am a light-use household consumer, just a regular mom trying to feed my family of 5; nothing fancy, nothing commercial. It then blew out a circuit board in January 2015. The oven went completely haywire. Okay, maybe a lemon you say? Do you know what then happened with DCS wonderful customer service for my $5000.00 oven? It took them 3 weeks to send out a replacement part. A new circuit board, which BLEW as soon as the tech (who has much experience w/ DCS and FP) installed it. Then do you know what happened? It took 3 more weeks for me to fight with my appliance company and DCS to get them to acknowledge they did not know what was wrong with my oven, why it originally blew its original circuit board, and why the new circuit board blew immediately. Yes, smoke was coming off the board, and the tech was flabbergasted. So, yes, dear reader, I was without an oven for SIX WEEKS from January until March. No baking, no roasting, no family dinners, no desserts, NOTHING. It took 3 weeks for my entire kitchen renov in the first place, then 3 months later, SIX WEEKS, no oven. Tsk, tsk DCS!! For a $5000 oven! And to top it off, after my fight to get them to send a new, replacement oven, guess what? The top door has damage to the metal frame around the glass door; there is permanent marring of the metal and something between the glass. Luckily, this is covered under their 90 day cosmetic warranty. I hope that everyone reading this thinks twice about this product. On another note, my 5 burner cook top from DCS is awesome, but how can you get gas burners wrong, really. STAY AWAY.
I bought a new Fisher & Paykel (FP) washer and dryer at Lowes in April 2007. The washer worked well until December 2009. I had the same problem many others had, discharge pump leaked and shorts out the pump, and that in turn shorts out the control board for the washer. To their credit, after I called them, FP took care of the repair of the pump and the control board in December of 2009.Trouble is, it just happened again. A year and a half later the discharge pump and the control board are out again. I called FP and was told they would not fix it again. Well, me neither. Rather than pay $400 to fix it again, I am getting a new washing machine that is not Fisher & Paykel. While shopping at one of the big box stores, I was told by one of the appliance guys that they stopped selling FP washers for a time because of guess what? pump and control board problems.
We were renovating our kitchen and I loved the idea of the two-drawer dishwasher because it’s just my husband and I, and they’re just made a lot more since. It seemed to work out better and it did. We were basically just shopping around and discovered Fisher & Paykel. It’s our first purchase with them. So I got it and loved it. After a year, we’ve had a problem with the handle part of the washer. The top part, where all your buttons are which is right above the handle, cracked within a couple of years. And it is a plastic piece. Maybe it’s just weak in that area so that when you do open it, and they didn’t crack at the very same week but within a short time of each other, they both have a crack in that plastic handle. And I sent a picture which was very obvious where the crack was. When I wrote Fisher & Paykel which was probably a year after they cracked, they said, “We’re sorry, your warranty has run out. We aren’t going to be able to give anything for you.” I feel like we’re two people. I hadn’t really worn it out. I may have lived here and had my kitchen renovated four years ago but I still didn’t wear out the dishwasher. We have a summer home on the river which we spend a lot of time there. I feel this way, I can’t be the only one with this two-drawer dishwasher that had this problem.
We wanted to switch from a conventional dishwasher to a drawer type. We’re both getting older and decided we didn’t want to bend down to the floor anymore and so we decided we would go with this, and Fisher & Paykel essentially had a good reputation. We thought we’d try them and we’re pleased. We’ve had it since we moved into a new condominium at the end of June and it’s the Tall DishDrawer. It works very well. I am getting the cleanest, clearest glasses I’ve ever seen come out of a dishwasher. I like the way the inside of the dishwasher is set up because I like the fold down, fold up racks for the glassware which comes in very handy for various sizes. There are a number of clips for putting in very sharp long knives. As a cook, you use very long chef knives. In a regular dishwasher, you can’t really put them in. So I thought that was an excellent feature. Also the cutlery container is very nicely designed so that you can put all of your sharp steak knives point down. It is an exceptionally clean looking and clean staying dishwasher. The entire inside of the dishwasher is stainless steel. It’s really a dream to use. I recommend it to everybody.
This is my second Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. It has not been stellar. The dishwasher has broken for the third time in four years. The response from Fisher & Paykel has equaled my dishwasher experience. Four calls to get a response. They only offered to pay for parts and labor when parts were replaced the last 2 times. I believe a third breakdown in four years deserves a new dishwasher and no payment for service call. Very disappointed.
My former neighbor had a Fisher & Paykel washing machine and when she no longer wanted to top load and we were moving, she offered it to me and it lasted maybe a year. It was not even a two-year old machine and we had to have parts replaced on it. When we moved in here, I bought the Fisher and Paykel top loading dryer because of its energy efficiency and I had multiple problems with that, to the point where it needed to be replaced and then after it was replaced, the service people had to come back in and they had to take off a piece of the top part that was rubbing on the dryer.I replaced my washing machine with a GE and that has been okay. The dryer seemed okay, but I dont trust it and the only way I got service was to call Fisher and Paykel themselves and speak with the representative there. Fisher and Paykel claimed that the representative that supported this area where I live was having family emergencies. Im also having an emergency when I had a lot of laundry to do that I dont have time to go out a Laundromat to do. I hold my breath, I wont leave the house when the dryer is running. I constantly go in and check it because Im just not certain. It took me seven months of dealing with the problem and then finally they agreed to replace the machine with a new one. Its fine, but I still have little hesitation about leaving it unattended. I dont have the money to replace it. When I do I will.
Both ovens broke after self cleaning. I used one of the service providers on the website after calling quite a few which did not service Fisher Paykel. They came out numerous times with various parts and were only able to fix one. I tried other service providers but none service this brand. After months of back and forth with the service provider to settle on an amount since it wasnt able to be fixed and then Fisher Paykel, the best Fisher Paykel could offer was for me to buy a new oven at a discount of $3500. Fisher Paykel even admitted on the phone that they knew that self cleaning had this kind of results. I dont understand how they could expect me to spend that kind of money to replace an item they admit has defects. My advice is to stay far away from this company with no real customer service.
I went to the appliance store called Melzen’s Appliance at Glastonbury and they informed me about Fisher & Paykel. Never heard of it before. It was one of the most expensive refrigerators I’ve ever bought in my life - it was $1600. I’m married for 35 years and I’ve had refrigerators before this. I was shocked at the price but had to buy it because of the size (it had to fit into a specific area). I also wanted a stainless and a refrigerator on top. It had so many of the things I wanted. It was delivered November of 2012.I love the F&P refrigerator except I do have an issue with it that I did go back to the appliance store to tell them that when I opened up the door, something came flying out of the refrigerator. I told them, “Look at this piece, what do I do.” The guy looked at it and said, “Oh that just goes underneath the door of the refrigerator, just glue it.” I said, “Glue it? You know this refrigerator is only 6 months old - really?” He goes, “Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with your refrigerator right?” I said, “Correct” “So well, just glue it. It’s fine. Because if I send out a repair man, that’s what they’re going to do and they’re gonna charge you.” So I still have the piece here and it doesn’t impede or impact what’s going on with the refrigerator. I haven’t glued it yet because I’m having a hard time thinking that I have to glue this on my new refrigerator.I like the performance. I’m satisfied, though I’m not happy that a piece flew out on me.
Fisher Paykel 30single wall oven - Purchased new appliances except for a ref about 7 years ago for a Kitchen remodel and used all Fisher and Paykel Appliances. Started having trouble last year w/ our single wall oven. The service technician diagnosed it as the Power Module, a cost of $215.99, only to find out that it was a convection element; so that was an additional $55.00 plus labor. Not to mention it took 6 weeks to get each part so a total of 12 weeks we were without an oven. This year we recently had issues and it was diagnosed incorrectly once again. Finally, we were told it was the Throat Element and could not be replaced. So after 6 weeks of waiting for the part to arrive we had to eat the part we ordered and the cost of 2 service calls only to find out we would have to purchase a new oven. Called Fisher Paykel and we promptly faxed the info they requested but it took a solid week trying to get **, our assigned go to person, to talk to us. They offered to sell us a new model at a 30% discount but did not offer to reimburse us for the money we had been out on parts and labor. Was very disappointed in the appliance, the time it takes to get parts sent from New Zealand, and the staff at Fisher Paykel. Will never spend another penny with them!!
Purchased a Fisher Paykel dryer in Feb 2013. Six months ago we started getting grease marks on our clothes. I contacted Fisher Paykel and after MANY calls (when they did return my calls), they concluded that I needed to turn the reversible drum off as that was causing issues on these units. I did so, and continued to have the same issues. After going back and forth, Fisher Paykel said there was nothing more they could do. They didnt even send out one of their techs to look at it. So, $700 later and using the dryer for 2 1/2 years, Im out! I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM FISHER PAYKEL AGAIN!! SHAME ON YOU!!
Washing machine is very quiet, doesnt rattle the house, spins clothes so well that they are almost dry. The dryer collects lint unbelievably, and dries very well. The more you wash the same clothes, the less lint collects. Love both machines.
3 pumps in 5 years - We purchased our Fisher & Paykel washer in 2008 at Beesons, Lafayette, IN. They also did the warranty work for us. They replaced the pump while under warranty. A few years ago, my husband replaced the pump himself. Now, my pump is out again; the part is $130. We have decided to not put any more money into this appliance. I plan to go shopping for a new washer and will not be buying a Fisher& Paykel appliance ever again. Im curious. Is this normal for a Fisher & Paykel?
We were looking for a second refrigerator in our home, and went to a company called Pacific Sales. They were closing that particular store, and the Fisher & Paykel unit we bought was probably a previous years floor model. Its got a lot of bells and whistles, one of which was not working - some alarms thing or something was bad. We called the service company and they came out and took care of it. It was a new unit and it had this problem... but other than that everythings been great. We had not really heard of the brand prior to making the purchase, but are very happy with it now that we have it.
Our old refrigerator was not working properly (from the 1970s) so we decided to purchase a new one. Fisher Paykel was the available unit at our local stores that I could bring home right then. I love the energy efficiency. Its wonderful, and I already have recommended it.
I looked up Fisher and Paykel online. I purchased from them because they offered two-drawer dishwasher and I have read some good reviews. I needed a new dishwasher with two drawers so I can open it all the way and get more things into it. I would definitely recommend Fisher and Paykel to my friends.
Purchased washer and dryer 4 yrs ago for my new home from Homemakers appliance store. Washer has been doing good but dryer is now broken, lights but will not start. One month ago, had same problem. Called an appliance specialist to fix it said motor was down. 3 days later it started working. Im frustrated. Customer service does not respond to calls either.
We bought a motorhome and our Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawer was part of the package. It is astounding compared to the ones we previously owned. However it was a little hard to get used to because it’s probably a low end model. It doesnt have any lights on it anywhere, it just beeps, and it wasnt working when we first got moved in but they had somebody come out and fix it and the customer service was incredible. My sister-in-law actually has the double drawer model and when she found out I had one she said, “Oh, you will love every bit about it. It’s just incredible!” Not only is it easy and efficient being in a drawer like that, it does consume less water, it’s quiet. We’re very happy with it and we would highly recommend it to anybody.
7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so I'm going to do my best to give one to help others as they consider buying this fridge. I know people want to know how a product lasts over time, so I'll do my best to remember to keep updating this review. As of today, the fridge has been up and running for 2 days. It is important to note that our fridge is a B-stock unit (was returned by someone, but never used. They listed the reason as "damaged packaging"). We did not buy through this website. THE BACKSTORY Our previous fridge was a big 36" standard depth white GE side-to-side that someone gave us for free. We knew it was only a temporary solution, and started saving for its replacement for when it would die on us. The rest of our kitchen appliances were stainless, so we were looking forward to the day our big white fridge kicked the bucket so we could have a more uniform look. Yesterday, we got home from a trip and our fridge was making loud and scary noises that wouldn't stop. We saw this as the perfect excuse to make the switch. I had heard of Fisher and Paykel before, and was told they were a good solution for a long-lasting fridge without all the unnecessary bells and whistles (that end up breaking and causing service calls down the road). I also thought this was the most elegant looking out of all of its competitors. I like the simple, flat look of this unit. I headed over to our closest appliance outlet store and found a B-stock unit that was never used (still had the plastic wrap), but had a dent in the back. We saved a thousand dollars on this unit because of a dent nobody would ever see. Score! INSTALLATION I took it home in my van and let it stand for 8 hours before turning it on (guy at store said this was important to do so all the liquids in the compressor could settle into place after transporting it on its back - better safe than sorry). During that time, I installed the included water filter and hoses to the fridge. It comes with everything you need except the piece that actually taps into your water line. Since we already had that from our previous fridge, this was a breeze. No need to call a plumber. The instruction manual was very easy to follow on installation of water components. I am the least handy guy you could know, so trust me when I say this was easy! During the time the fridge sat unplugged, I also wiped down the shelves and bins, took off the plastic wrap, and read the instruction manual. I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual. There are so many features in this fridge that aren't highlighted on the companies website that I never would have known about had I not read the manual. I'll go into more detail in the "Features" Section of this review. After the 8 hours, I plugged the fridge in and let it get to its proper temperature (about 2 hours). I used this time to adjust the front legs (it is supposed to be raised up 1/2" higher in the front than the back for ease of door use). During this time, the exterior sides and back of the unit got HOT! Like, I'm afraid this thing is going to explode, hot. Thankfully after reaching its desired interior temps, the exterior cooled off substantially. Today, it isn't even warm. I made sure to run all the air pockets out of the water line, and discarded the first few batches of ice as instructed. FEATURES First of all, keep in mind that we were previously using a big, standard depth side-by-side before, and have never had a counter-depth fridge, or one with a freezer on the bottom. Having made the transition, it is clear that these fridges are not for everyone. I'll try to explain in more detail as I go. - Counter-Depth: This opened up our kitchen far beyond what we were expecting. I know its only a few inches shallower, but it made a huge difference for us. Our kitchen just got bigger and brighter! Our fridge is no longer the elephant in the room. This fridge looks great, but blends in. It does come with some trade offs. The depth of storage in the fridge is very shallow. For example, I don't see the ability to fit a large pizza box in the fridge or the freezer (untested theory). - Doors: I've been to some peoples houses where their french doors were really hard to either open or close. These open with no problem, and close even easier. The freezer door is a bit harder to open than the fridge doors, but not difficult by any stretch. - Hidden top hinges: I love how the top hinges are covered in the front. It is a small attention to detail which really makes this thing look clean and sharp. It also makes cleaning the top of the fridge so much easier! - Water dispenser: Some people may not like that this doesn't have a door ice dispenser (ice is dispensed in a bin in the freezer). It is perfect for us, I love the shallow water chamber that doesn't cut into storage space on the inside door. It also is easier to clean, and you can fill any size container without worrying if it will fit. For us, the water comes out fast, and fills things up quickly. People who like to set a glass in the water cavity and walk away while it fills up will not like this feature. It is too shallow to set a glass in, you will need to hold it the entire time. Not a problem for us. - Shelving: This model has 3 shelves (2 of which are height adjustable). These shelves go across the full width of the fridge. Some of this units competitors have adjustable shelves that only go halfway for more customization, but in my opinion that is just more breakable pieces, and it cuts into the amount of things you can store. The full-width shelves work perfectly for our needs. Also, many competitors' fridges have white plastic spill proofing around the edges of their shelves. In my opinion, this makes a fridge look cheap and flimsy. The ActiveSmart fridge has beautiful brushed metal spill proofing, it looks so much more elegant and uniform. Sounds like a small thing, but it is one of my favorite features! - Door Storage: Because of the shallow water dispenser, you get full storage on both doors. This increases the storage like no other. There are large compartments with dividers for gallon sized jugs and tall items. At the top of each french door, there is a compartment with a lid for butters or cheeses. Our previous fridge had one of these compartments with a rounded lid, it really limited storage, but these have a squared off lid that allows you to stack items without worrying about closing the lid. My biggest complaint of this fridge is that these lids don't stay open when you lift them. So you need one hand to hold the lid open, and another to grab whatever is inside. It may sound negligible, but i'm usually holding something else when I need something from these compartments. Hopefully I'll get used to it. As of right now, it's really annoying. - Wine/Bottle holders: There really isn't a place in this fridge where you would be able to store a wine bottle standing up other than the doors, so they included 4 horizontal holders that clip to the back of every shelf. These holders also stack upon another so if you don't have 4 bottles to hold, they don't take up a lot of room. Very thoughtful feature. If you insist on storing your wine or tall bottled drinks standing up, you may not like this fridge. - REMOVABLE BINS!: This is my very favorite feature of this fridge. All drawers in the fridge and freezer are actually pull out shelves with clear bins sitting on top. This is so useful for so many reasons. Instead of shuffling through the vegetables or fruits to find what you are looking for with the fridge doors open, you can just pull out the desired bin and take it to the counter, find what you need and easily put it back. The same is true for meats/cheese bins, frozen drawers, and the ice bin. Saves tons of energy. Also, it makes cleaning drawers out a breeze. Just pull it out, rinse the bin in the sink, and dry out. I love this feature! - Crisper drawers: Like most fridges, this has separate drawers for fruits and vegetables with a separate humidity setting for each. Keep in mind, you need to open both french doors to pull out the drawer. Even though there are two separate sections, the full drawer they share takes up the full width of the fridge. People who only want to open one door and pull out fruits or veggies will not like this fridge. - Meats and Cheese Drawers: I like that there are two separate sections for these. We use the left one for lunch meat and cheeses, and the right one for other meats (steak, beef, fish, etc...). It is especially nice to use one of these as a dedicated meat thawing section without worry of any juices finding their way to other items in the fridge. Again, you need to open both french doors to access these compartments. - Lighting: Our previous fridge had a light in the top back center. If we had anything in front of it (which was always), it would darken the rest of the fridge, making it difficult to see other items throughout. This fridge has a strip of LED lighting at the top front of the unit which allow for full illumination of the entire contents of the fridge no matter how you have your food arranged. Very nice touch! There are no lights on the doors, but enough spills from the inside of the fridge that you will be able to make out what you need even in the middle of the night. - Ice machine: Since this is only our 2nd day, all I can say is it works as advertised so far. I know the ice machine is usually the biggest issue people have with any fridge, so I'll keep my eye on it and let you know if anything weird happens over time. The default setup is that in the freezer, there is a top shelf with 2 big bins across the width. In the left big bin, there is a smaller one that takes up half the width of that bin, and that is the ice bin. If you require more ice, you can just remove the smaller bin and let the ice dispense into the bigger bin. With either bin, it is supposed to stop producing ice when it is full. If you need even more ice, you can fill up the big bin on the left, switch it with the right bin, and fill up that one too. Lots of versatility, and the removable bins are great if you are entertaining! - Freezer: The freezer has a top shelf that pulls out with the ice bin, plus a bin and a half of storage for other things. Then there is a large cavity below for the storage of everything else. If you are a person who usually packs out your freezer of your current fridge, I don't think you will enjoy a counter-depth freezer-on-the bottom model. This is definitely more for the person who has a larger ratio of fresh food to frozen food. I can easily see people needing to dig around the lower cavity if they over fill it. For our family, we don't need much freezer space, so it works perfect for us so far. - Noise: As of right now, there is a constant hum that is about the volume of somebody whispering softly. It is audible, but not something you can hear unless you are in the kitchen. I'm not sure if this will always hum, or if it is just because we haven't filled up our ice bin to the top yet, and the ice machine is constantly working. I'll update the review when we find out. - ActiveSmart Tech: I don't really know what it is, other than it's supposed to do a good job of keeping your food cold. A customer service representative called me to update me on the availability of the new washer model in the US. It will be available at the end of July or first of August. I dont want to wait another month but do want this new larger capacity model. The rep also called my service department to have my top loader dryer repaired. She wanted to make sure they have the correct part for the repair scheduled for Monday. Fisher & Paykel has an outstanding customer service department. I am staying with this brand and looking forward to purchasing my new washing machine the 4.2 cubic foot Aqua Smart as soon as it becomes available in the US.
I love the quietness of the machine. It washes well. The problem I have is that it is hard to get it warranted. It is not a common brand. I love the stainless steel drum and the different settings help me select the exact setting to use.
I fell in love with it when I saw it. I took it home and everything was good. Tech came out and fixed the dryer and the washer within my 2-year warranty. The warranty ran out and the dryer tore up again. Tech came and repaired it, costing me around $150.00. Now, the washer does not work again and I am so upset. I thought that I had the perfect set and I was mistaken. I didn’t even mind paying more for it. I should have gotten a different brand that was cheaper but would have lasted longer. I feel like every year, it tears up and I have to pay for it to be replaced. I really wanted these to last.
I bought what I thought was a new model, an Aqua Smart WL-37, from the Warehouse Discount Center (WDC) on 5-16-11. I also bought an extended four-year warranty. The WL-37 failed less than three months later (8-10-11). It made a loud noise, and it went dead. No power. I called WDC for help, and they gave us a list of contractors. It turned out none of them travel to our town in Fillmore. This is even though when you first call the contractor, they say,” sure we will go to Fillmore”. However, once they try and locate us on a map, they thought it was “Sylmar”, not Fillmore.Anyway, we finally called P&K customer service. They also gave me a list of contractor folks who would go to Fillmore. I guess the good customer service representatives at Fisher and Paykel’s dont have good English skills, as they also gave us a list of contractors who go to Sylmar, not Fillmore. Finally, I got one who actually came to the house after a ten day delay. When the technician came inside, he asked me for the original sales receipt. The folks at Fisher & Paykel had no proof of sale, and because the WL37 is not the current model. I had a broken ankle and could not go upstairs to pull the receipt, even though I showed the technician the four-year extended warranty with a sale date of June, 2011, it was not good enough. So back to finding contractors who would go to Sylmar… err… Fillmore. Finally, I found one. Again, after another week lag they showed up on August 29. By this time, I was smart, and registered my unit on the Fisher & Paykel website, so the unit was verified under warranty. The technician came in and looked at the washer. He said it needed a new power board. He left his card, and said he would order it that day. Another eleven days have gone by, and I have heard nothing. This is despite leaving several messages to the technician and his store. I just finished contacting Fisher & Paykel customer service via its website customer care inquiry. Hopefully, they will contact me soon.
Our Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers came in the house when we bought it and we havent replaced them yet. We do have problems with it. Sometimes the lid does not like to open and close correctly. We had a repairman come out and showed us what to do to try and remedy that. And then the top one for some reason will go all the way through the cycle when its on the short cycle but when its on the regular cycle, it stops halfway through. Maybe if they’re brand new, everything would be working okay, but this unit is probably about 8 to 10 years old.
So I purchased a F&P Washer and dryer from a HORRIBLE scammer called Ralphs Appliance in Bartonsville, PA (DO NOT EVER BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE). The washer fills up with water halfway, then dumps it all out so I cannot wash anything. The water wont stay in. Then the dryer smells so bad as if it is about to blow up. There is a horrible burning smell and it makes my clothes smell like they were on fire at some point! I had a technician come out and he spent 2 hours taking these units apart and changing parts and vacuuming out the dryer element in case there was burnt lint... NOTHING! They still dont work and the lousy people at Ralphs Appliance and Stroud TV & Appliance (ANOTHER HORRIBLE COMPANY, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM) refuse to fix it. I called F&P and these are the only two names they gave me of people who fix these types of units. I have been calling all over and no one seems to know how to service F&P. I do not know what to do but I was told this was a High End brand, but its anything but! I could have purchased an old school Whirlpool and I wouldnt have this many issues. And the washer and dryer are only a few years old!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Thumbs down to F&P.
We are very happy with our Fisher & Paykel refrigerator. We like the space when we open the two drawers and the lighting. It works very well. I have no problems with it.
So frustrated with my fridge not working for over a month with multiple calls from the refrigerator repair people. I phoned Fisher Paykel customer service and they have been more than helpful in trying to assist me although the fridge is past warranty. I thank them for their kindness and empathy.
My F&P oven was new when I purchased my apartment in 2017. A year later, I experienced problems with the interior lights and the glass ceiling that protected the roasting elements. F&P directed me to their authorized repair company in South Florida, Appliance Service Group, Inc. of Pembroke Pines, FL. I paid them over $800 in advance on Feb. 1, 2019 (they told me that the warranty was for only 1 year, when it is 2 years but F&P finally agreed to honor the warranty after I contacted them). However, my oven still has not been fixed as of April 17, 2019 - a 2 1/2 month delay. ASG has told me several lies about the delay....a part is on backorder, the wrong part was ordered, the part had to come from NZ, etc. I have been promised on several occasions that it would be repaired within 5 to 7 business days. It hasnt and for over 2 1/2 months I have been without the use of my oven. F&P and its authorized service agents are not to be trusted.
On December 4, 2013, I wrote a review of this gas range and expressed my concern about being abandoned by the manufacturer and left with a stove that could not be repaired. We knew our stove was out of warranty, we were just shocked that we had been told by their local repair company that it could not be repaired. In response to that post, we were contacted by the manufacturer who came to our aid and not only found the solution, but had our stove fixed without charge. So Fisher Paykel has gone beyond the call of duty here, and we certainly appreciate their reaching out to consumers of their product. Thank you.
Bought a Fisher and Paykel dish drawer less than two years ago. Around the beginning of March there was an error code warning on the machine and it was leaking water onto my hardwood floors. I contacted Fisher and Paykel and was told to work with the one service repair company in Austin Texas. They finally came out on March 9th to look at my machine. The technician told me the symptoms of my machine did not make sense but if he swapped out a few parts it would probably resolve the issue. Finally two weeks later I was told the parts were indefinitely on backorder. At this point I called Fisher and Paykel directly. I was given the royal run around. I contacted the company 12 times over the course of 6 days. Each time I was assured that someone would call me back in the next hour or so. Never got that call. When I called back in to follow up on the issue, I was told a different story and that it was out of the representatives hands or that they were a New Zealand company and the person in charge was gone for the day. I was told the companies issue was due to the long shoremans strike and my part would likely arrive in late April. I stressed that the technician was not totally sure the parts would fix my machine, so I was supposed to wait six weeks for parts which may not even get my machine working again.
First washer purchased in 2001 had problem going from wash cycle to rinse in 2006. We tried contacting Fisher & Paykel and got no response, no support, and no help! We replaced a diverter valve, and then a circuit board, only to have wasted our money. We wrote a formal letter to F & P Customer Care USA (Irvine, CA) on Sept 21, 2007 letting F & P know that the diverter valve and circuit board only lasted 9 months before it repeated. No response was ever received from F & P Customer Care USA. That pretty sums up the amount of support/customer care you will receive. We liked the technology; and despite the lack of support, customer service, or response, we bought a GW12 and disposed of our six-year-old GWll. No problem with our GW12 from 2007 until 2013. Now, our GW12 is having the same problem! It appears that both of our Fisher & Paykel washers only have a six-year life cycle. I will write another formal letter to Fisher & Paykel Customer Care USA, but I do not expect I will ever hear from Fisher & Paykel. From my perspective, Fisher & Paykel washers have a planned obsolescence of six years, and clearly they lack an infrastructure for support or customer service in the USA. I would recommend that you only buy their products if you like changing your major appliances out frequently. If you do purchase Fisher & Paykel products in the USA, then expect to be on your own with no support or any customer service. One last item, the letters to FP Consumer Customer Care USA contained two emails for response and one mobile phone number. It is on 24/7, 365 days a year!
I had to book for a service to my dishwasher. Booked online, confirmed appointment, technician never showed up. Called their 800 number and have been called back from Queensland (Australia). Still dont have another appointment, it is a complete waste of time. Never again with them.
I purchased a FP washer & dryer in 2008 with good recommendations. What a disappointment! Noisy, noisy, noisy. Im embarrassed when we have company and they ask, Whats that noise? I am embarrassed to say its brand name. This is supposed to be a good washer and dryer. The washer is off balance with every load of sheets I wash and plenty of other loads. What an inconvenience to constantly try to re-balance the loads. Also, the design of the dispensers is awful. I have to take them apart and clean them because disgusting black stuff is lurking under the covers. The dryer takes so long to dry. The lint bucket is emptied after each load but about monthly, my husband has to take the lint filter assembly apart to clean the internal parts or the sensor gets covered and the dryer works even longer.Ive been using automatic washers and dryers for 42 years and have never been more dissatisfied. I will never recommend FP to anyone, in fact, my recommendation for an FP product would be to stay away!
My husband and I purchased a FisherPaykel washer from Lowes approximately 4 years ago. We had not heard of FisherPaykel and were a little reluctant to purchase one. The salesman was knowledgeable about the product and sold us on the manufacturer. We have been happy with the product until recently. I am still uncertain as to what is wrong with my machine, only knowing that it no longer drains the water. I have contacted FisherPaykel twice - once to see if it is covered by a warranty and second to find a service company. I still have a washer that does not work, and the company they referred will not service the washer unless it was purchased from them. I am very disappointed in this product and the service.
Drawer dishwasher double works very good. Holds a lot for it size. Very reliable. Working non stop for 11 years without any problem. Very efficient and economical. Very quiet you wouldn’t know it’s working.
We have a 5-year-old dryer that I was told had a right bearing out. When they tried to replace that, he said the drum would now have to be replaced? Trying to fix it myself. Cant find parts anywhere. Help?
Bought this Fisher and Paykel fridge six years ago, keeps making a beeping noise, had a technician look at it, he said would cost too much to fix the circuit board. Rang Fisher and Paykel and they said it is out of warranty. Product should last longer than this. Will not buy this brand again.
I already had one of the F & P double-drawer dishwashers at our other house before we moved here and we gathered the whole kitchen here. I put a single-desk drawer on each side of the sink and then a regular storage drawer below so I don’t have to bend over. I chose the Fisher & Paykel appliance because I was fascinated by the concept of the desk drawers and design-wise, doing things a little different. And then when we downsized from a 6000 square foot home to a 3000 square foot home, my husband and I both said we wanted to get them again. So we went 90 miles away to get them. We like the new models of F & P appliance compared with the old ones we’ve had in the past. They’re better, and the new ones are so quiet. We just love them.
When we moved into our new home in May of 2008, we had to leave behind our dryer. As wed had good luck with a Fisher & Paykel washer, we just assumed that a DE09 dryer would be a natural conclusion. What a mistake! It has been a lemon since the day we put it in the basement. It constantly turns off during a dry cycle and takes forever (when it decides to actually run) to dry a load of clothes. Were not talking a large load either. We are vigilant about keeping the vents cleaned out, even going so far as taking the tube from the wall and cleaning it out from both the outside vent and the inside vent. Nothing does any good. It still shuts off randomly at will. I can guarantee that my next dryer purchase, as soon as it can happen, wont be a Fisher & Paykel. Id have better luck just tossing the clothes on the driveway and hoping the sun does the job.
I got the drawer dishwasher with the F and P package. So I got rid of my Thermidorian dishwasher. The Fisher and Paykel dishwasher has been broken for the majority of the time I have owned it. I have had service people, sent emails and photos and called the customer service many times. Yet still I sit in a remodeled kitchen with a bum dishwasher. Been nothing but a headache. Very disappointed. Wishing now that I had gone with Kitchen Aid! Please learn from my mistake!
I purchased a Dish Drawer dishwasher for a kitchen remodel in 2008. I was lured by the fact there are two (2) independent washer units; one on top of the other which allowed flexibility in cleaning as well as potential addition kitchen utensil storage. Troubles began within the first 90-days. I have summoned kitchen appliance repair companies listed as authorized by Fisher Paykel numerous times with the last service attendant indicating there are serious design flaws with the appliance. At this date the following had been experienced: The bottom dishwasher unit is completely non-functional, the touch wash controls in the operating unit do not work correctly; and now are stuck in one washer cycle. I was informed by one of the techs that came out there is a design flaw that allows water to seep into the controls. For $1,500 for a dishwasher I would have expected more. What is more alarming is the sales rep when I bought the appliance indicated the manufacturer also made kidney dialysis machines. If this is the case (and my research indicates this is true) there are numerous fatalities if the quality of the dialysis machines is the same as the Dish Drawer. Do not under any circumstances purchase anything this Company makes. The quality is terrible!!!
Two of the igniters on my 9 yr old range stopped working. I tried to get the igniters repaired by two different appliance repair companies that Fisher Paykel recommended ($300.00 expense) both telling me the same thing - the unit was unable to be repaired due to a design flaw. I call Fisher Paykel and asked for assistance and was told since it was 9 yrs old they werent going to do anything. So my $10,000 range is now a good looking piece of junk! I would never purchase anything from this company!!!!
My dishwasher broke today and I called for service. They had the audacity to give me a date for July 18th. What kind of customer service is that. I would recommend stay away from buying as service sucks once you buy their product and not many people service their products. Buyer Beware.
I am seeing a recurring theme about the drain pump failures. In my case, the drain pump has now failed 2 times on my GWL11US washer. The first one was leaking all over the floor. After purchasing the second, it was better but still, the floor would get wet under the washer. Not to mention, it took about a month to get a replacement (backorder). I purchased a plastic pan to place under the washer to keep this appliance from ruining my floor. The other day, the windings on the pump motor shorted out, stunk up the whole house and the motor control board just shut down in the middle of the wash.In my opinion, both of these F&P appliances are the poorest excuse for a washer/dryer I have ever seen. The plastic lid on the washer has cracked and the overlays for the operational buttons (keyboard) have many cracks around them also. Had the design engineers put some thought into the control board, they could have planned in some short circuit protection for the control module, so it could survive a shorted load of the pump motor. Or was it planned that way to make more money? This is the first and last F&P product I will ever buy.
I got the Fisher & Paykel stove because of the design. They have really nice clean lines. It has multiple setting burners and I can go through super simmer. Its a high quality product with very good aesthetics.
After numerous phone calls hours on the line and a month I still havent got my fridge fixed by Fisher & Paykel. The customer service is abysmal. Rude customer service officers. There is no complaints department and escalating your issue to a supervisor goes nowhere with no phone call ever answered. Do not buy products from Fisher & Paykel especially Haier fridges. They are just cheap and breakdown and you will never get them fixed because the customer service team does not care one bit. I even had a customer service representative call me dude on the phone and told me to calm down. Avoid at all cost.
I have purchased 3 Fisher and Paykel drawer dishwashers. Ive moved three times and each time Ive moved, Ive purchased them. I used to do the stacked ones but in this house, I decided to do the single drawer and do two of them and I like that better than the stacked. It works better for me. Its nice not to have to bend down because I have a bad back. It seems like the water would sit in bottom drawer of the dishwasher and the bottom one didnt wash as well as the top one. So this time, I did not have a problem. They work great. I wouldnt keep buying it over again if I wasnt happy.
Very dissatisfied with Fisher Paykel. I bought 4 appliances from them totaling over 11,000 dollars. The dishwasher was missing parts and the refrigerator did not work. After 6 weeks of back and forth with the company giving me misinformation and every employee telling me different things to do and making me in charge of lining up appliance service with 4 days needed off of work that resulted in them not replacing a bad refrigerator but saying they would repair. The wheels were also broken with the services which ruined my floor and once they replace the refrigerator they will not guarantee. They do a typical customer service routine, but could care less about the actual customer. My next home would never have their appliances.
We have been the proud owner of a two-drawer for approximately 9 years. We liked the design so much we bought the dishwasher in another state and transported it to Florida of installation. We have turned a deaf ear on the fact that it is noisy due to the fact that we liked the convenience of it so much. Well, things have started to go wrong with the unit which include losing the backlighting on one of the displays, total breakdown of the plastic trim plates and failure of the drawers to drain. At times, the bottom drawer has in excess of one inch of water after completion of the cycle. The other day, I called the customer service number and spoke to a lovely young lady who attempted to address my concerns, took down all of my identifying information and advised me that she would attempt to obtain some sort of assistance for me toward the purchase of a new dishwasher. My wife and I agreed that based on the age of the unit, it is probably not worth the expense of having a repair person visit, diagnose the problem and obtain all the parts that would be needed to get it running and make it look good again. To my dismay, I called back today, provided all of my identifying information and learned that my call was not on file and therefore, nothing had been done on my issue. What a shame because even though these units do not get great reviews in the United States, my wife and I were willing to take another chance on a new one instead of buying a conventional one. We had had a pretty good experience with our unit and are just hoping we can get some assistance, as these dishwashers are very expensive. I would think that a company with the good reputation of Fisher and Paykel would want to ensure that their customers are satisfied for the life of the appliance. I am getting the feeling that they are really not interested in helping me at all!
GWL15 Washer - When my water pump went out, it dripped onto wiring for the computer panel, which in turn shorted it out causing me to have to buy a panel - also because of a design flaw of the machine. I really like my washer and dryer very much, but that problem did not make me very happy!
I had heard about Fisher & Paykel before as I use it in medical equipment. This dishwasher was my first F&P purchase. I have the Dish Drawer feature, and I love it.
My first F&P dryer worked fine for a year and then continually tripped thermal switches. One actually has to remove a panel to reset this as it is not accessible from the outside of the dryer. F&P finally replaced this (well, I got a new dryer for the privilege of paying them $250 for the prorated use of the old dryer). I also spent another $250 re-venting the dryer because they were concerned that the venting that worked fine for my 25 year old Maytag was insufficient for their unit. Dryer #2 developed a bearing squeak--quiet at first but now is extremely loud. The tech from the company that sold me the dryer claims the bolt is frozen and the bearing cannot be replaced or at least cannot be replaced for a service call cheaper than half the price of actually replacing the dryer. Meanwhile, THAT store has ceased selling the product and no longer will work on F&P machines. The tech recommended by F&P after this told me the same thing and recommended that I save my money and buy Samsung.
My favorite feature is the automatic water level where I dont have to choose (like is this a large, a medium load?) I feel like Im saving water because Im not choosing a larger load size unnecessarily. When we went to the store to buy a new unit, the appliance salesman was telling us 6 to 8 years is more typical for newer machines (our previous washing machine lasted 25 years). My husband especially wanted something really high quality that would last. This particular salesman who actually is the owner of the store said he owned a Fisher & Paykel and that it would be the highest quality brand that they carry that would last the longest.
We purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator and dishwasher drawers. They look good and work well and I’m happy.
I have a Fisher Paykel one-drawer dishwasher that came with my motor home. Its working great. Its fine and I like how quiet it is. The one thing I do not like about it is leaving the dishes in there. If I leave them in there after the cycle spin, then the moisture builds up inside and they sweat and I have to dry them.
I bought a Fisher and Paykel washing machine. It is not even 3 years old, but it leaks everywhere, smells moldy all the time and grime builds up in the drum and softener bowl. I had a Kenmore that was 25 years old and it never had any problems. I thought I would save energy and help the environment by buying a new machine. Boy, do I wish I had my old machine back.
My Fisher & Paykel refrigerator is much better than the other brands that weve had in the past. The only thing they should have pointed out at the time of purchase was that the ice maker is extremely slow. But I’d recommend it to somebody even with the slow ice maker in it.
On 10/4/12, I posted a complaint regarding my F&P refrigerator. My refrigerator was 4 y/o and the display panel & water dispenser broke. Three days later, I received a call from Lisette, Customer Service Manager for Fisher & Paykel. She understood my frustration and assured me she would contact a local repair business. The repair service did not work out well, so I called again and Lisette assured me she would take care of everything to my satisfaction. She contacted a different repair service that did a fantastic job and F&P paid for all of the parts. I cannot say enough about F&P Customer Service and especially Lisette. She was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this company and appliance. I have purchased many brands of appliances throughout my lifetime and I have never had such a positive experience as I did with this company. This has restored my faith with the customer service of large companies, thanks to Fisher & Paykel. If they can deliver such incredible service, why cant other big name companies? Thank you, Lisette, for all of your assistance!
I saw a Fisher & Paykel commercial about the type of dish washer that I wanted and from what I understand, theyre pretty much the only ones the make those now, the drawer ones. So when my refrigerator quit working, I decided to buy one although it was much more expensive but it had the drawer option that I wanted. The company has been very good so far. As far as I know, I dealt with just the company that I bought it from in the store, but as far as my happiness with the dishwasher, Im not really pleased. To begin with, we had the one that I ordered and laid for to be in stock and it was put in and for some reason it leaked immediately. Right after the delivery guy left, it started leaking, at least twice. Its been three times its flooded my kitchen floor, my hardwood floor. They called me that they were going to contact the company of Fisher & Paykel and find out if they were going to do anything about my floor, but I havent heard anything. Then they bought me a stainless steel one and put it in to replace the one that I ordered, which was a couple hundred dollars more and they didnt make me pay the extra money, which was nice. I have my dishwasher and I was happy. But since then, its only been less than a year and probably six months or so but the pieces inside where you stack the dishes are already breaking. I have to find another piece that I could put there so that I could get my dishes in there. Plus the fact that the chimes are so close together that you cant get anything in there except for a flat dish, unless you just take all of the things out and just have an open drawer. Our complaint is that nothing fits in them right and it doesnt clean as well as I thought they would. I thought they would be very good for what we spent on them. I put less and less in them just thinking itll get cleaner and cleaner because theyre in such a compact area. But they dont really seem to. And I follow all the rules on what they say to do and stuff but even so stuff is not as clean as I thought it would get. So I dont know what it is that keeps it from being clean, but I keep trying.
I purchased a new F&P washer to replace the old one that I have. After delivery and hook up, I found that once you put the clothes into the machine and started the washer, the lid locked until the end of the cycle. I am not able to open the lid without turning off the wash cycle. In the old machine, the lid locked when the spin cycle was on. Now, I am unable to see what the washer is doing or how much it is filling. I called the customer care department to find out what could be done to override this feature during the fill and rinse cycle and an answer from a supervisor, named Bernice, is that I should wash by hand if I am so concerned about how my clothes are being washed. In the past, I have found this company to be difficult when trying to purchase parts; but this goes way beyond attitude. If you want control over your wash do not buy a F&P washer. Once you start the machine, its out of your hands. This is not a consumer friendly machine
Generally, GWL 10 US is a decent washer from 2002. But I have had previous service issue after five years with diverter valve and a separated lid that was replaced. Now at 10 years old, spin cycle will not always engage and a foul smell of burning rubber is present. They will probably have this issue fixed, but I will not purchase Fisher Paykel again.
