We have had our Fisher & Paykel dryer for a little over two years. At the end of the first year, there was a problem with the door. Fortunately, it was still under warranty and was replaced. However, at the end of the second year, the sensor did not work. The dryer would spin continuously without any heat. At the end of the cycle, the dryer would rotate for several minutes in the locked position and we could not open it. We had contacted Fisher & Paykel to find out what the problem was, and they suggested that we call a technician. We contacted an authorized technician, who said that the door was broken. As the part being replaced was under warranty within the year, I asked that he contact Fisher & Paykel regarding warranty for that part. He called, was placed on hold, and then was disconnected. Since he had to go to another appointment, I said that I would contact Fisher & Paykel directly. Fisher & Paykel asked that I submit invoices for the purchase and the technicians notes, which I did. They then informed me that it is not their policy to reimburse for payments! My response to them was, How was I to submit the technicians notes without payment? They apologized that they were sorry I did not know the process. How would a consumer know what their process was without being told, either by their authorized service rep or their customer service? I was not advised of my rights or their process, and as a result, I am now out of pocket for around $300 for a dryer that is only a little over two years old. I have had Maytag and Whirlpool washers and dryers for 30 years, and not once did I have to call for service. This product is a lemon. I have given this feedback to Fisher & Paykel and am in the market for a new dryer. It would be less expensive to purchase another dryer, a different brand, than to continue with any further repairs down the road.

I bought a new house and I needed a refrigerator for it. We had a very unique space that could not change. I had a space requirement that no other manufacturer made a refrigerator in the size, depth, width and height that I needed except Fisher & Paykel. It has everything that we wanted in it. We’ve had a very good experience with Fisher & Paykel and would definitely recommend them.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel washing machine. It is not even 3 years old, but it leaks everywhere, smells moldy all the time and grime builds up in the drum and softener bowl. I had a Kenmore that was 25 years old and it never had any problems. I thought I would save energy and help the environment by buying a new machine. Boy, do I wish I had my old machine back.

Whatever you do stay away from DCS. We purchased a DCS 6 burner Range-top, fridge, and wall oven in November 2014. No problem with anything until second batch of Christmas cookies a week before Christmas when the oven temp dropped to 140. Repairman said we needed a micro temp limiter and another limiter. He said he could probably fix it before Christmas if he could get the parts. Having selected DCS because of offices and warehouse in California we thought we were going to be roasting turkey and baking rolls for a big family Christmas dinner... Not exactly. Sometime last Fall the Fisher and Paykel brain trust closed all their US warehouses and all phone calls for customer service are now routed to New Zealand. The Kiwis working the phones in Wellington are useless. They can tell us they know the parts have been ordered but they dont have them in stock and they cannot tell us when they will be available to ship to the US. Weve been without the wall oven for a month now. Crossing our fingers that the fridge and range-top keep working.

We purchased a washer and dryer from Fisher & Paykel. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have the dish washer. We knew they were much more quality products, so thats why we decided to try them. When we first got them, the washer did not work from the day we got it. But they came and fixed that. They came and replaced it right away. I would definitely recommend them.

Aquasmart Washer and Aerosmart Dryer - These are wonderful appliances. Both are efficient and inexpensive to use, though a bit noisy. But the upside is, they let you know immediately, with various beeps, when things need readjusting inside. They are fairly compact and fit in the smallish laundry room nicely. The clothes come out beautifully clean and not beat-up.

I have a dishwasher which is over 20 years old. I paid $142 for technician to come out & he didnt have parts so no repair done on that day. Waited a couple of weeks for parts. Technician returned & broke insert handle while taking off this part. Technician told me as dishwasher was old, it fell to bits but I wouldnt have to pay for these extra parts. I then heard nothing from F&P re further repair, emailed twice, called twice & I finally got a response & was told that F&P had parts but I had to pay for part technician broke.I called Consumer Affairs & they advised that under section 60 F&P could not charge me for extra parts. Bob ** from F&P called today & advised that F&P are not liable & unless I paid, they would not fix my dishwasher. I asked for a refund of initial service fee & was told this would not occur, but they were willing to sell me a new dishwasher & take $142 off cost. I now have to pay an extra $95.49 for extra parts. I would not recommend their service and will not buy an F&P product again, as they are not willing to stand by their products no matter how old they are.

I did a little bit of research on the internet, and then I saw a Fisher Paykel dishwasher for sale. I liked the idea of the drawers. I thought that was a very good idea. And it went along with my beautiful wood cabinets so I went ahead and purchased it. It is a used item, however. The top drawer is a little bit quieter than the bottom drawer. I often wonder if maybe it might need a new belt or something. It seems to be a bit loud. But I would recommend it to a friend. Its an unusual item. It is better than what I was using in the past. And even with the sound quality, I would still go ahead and recommend it to another one.

Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart washer - We purchased our F&P washer and dryer at Lowes in Denton, TX in April 2005. While the washer was still under warranty, we started having problems. The water wouldnt stop dripping into the tub so we had to call someone out to fix this issue. Now the washer has quit all together. I called someone out ($68.00) only to find out that the main board is out. I realized that the washer is 7 years old, but I thought it would last longer than it did. We did research in Consumer Report before we bought this washer.

I used to have a Fisher & Paykel and the reason I was purchasing something is I just remodeled a kitchen in a newer and different house than the one where I had the other one. I got the two-door dishwasher with the tall drawer. Its ugly. I didnt realize it wasnt the same in the front and they ruined the front completely. If I could have sent it back without paying a 25% up charge for returning it, I would have returned it. Im very disappointed. I have the recessed handle, it used to be all stainless steel, now theyve got some junky plastic in the front and thats terrible. I wanted the tall drawer but I assumed it was the same... it looks chintzy. Compared to the rest of my appliances, Im sorry I bought it. I bought it because its great for doing wine glasses although I find that the spot where the wine glasses go is just a slight bit narrower than what I used to have because Im having a little bit more trouble trying to get them into the slot. The dishwasher works just fine. Aesthetically, they ruined it. And I loved my other one. I just think that they didnt do a good job of remodeling it. It doesnt help the people that paid top dollar, I could have had a Bosch which is an equally competent dishwasher or any others and I chose this one because of the fact that I could do a smaller load so theres some wonderful things about it but the look upsets me.

My F & P dual drawer dishwasher never seems to clean well. The area under the filter/screen is always full of water and F & P says thats normal. The screen itself needs to be rinsed every several of loads as grease seems to build up on the inside. I run DW cleaner every dozen loads or so and it doesnt seem to help. I am very dissatisfied with this product. I got it so my disabled son can easily reach into the top drawer for loading and unloading and it works well for this purpose but its hardly worth it if the dishes have to be washed by hand after theyve been run through the machine.

We purchased a Fisher Paykel dishwasher and it has broken. It is still under warranty. We have now had 3 calls from the service people. Our part has been in for over a week now and they tell me they cannot schedule the time I need. Every time they call, they cannot give me even a morning or afternoon, just a date. Then they will call one day ahead of time to schedule the service. I have a busy medical practice and have given them actually 2-hour time frames on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and have actually told them 3 times now I am available all day on Wednesdays and that does not work for them. So each time they tell me they have to talk with the service manager again. The dishwasher has now been broken almost two months. I have given times each day and that is not good enough for them. I will never buy a Fisher Paykel again and I plan on telling each and every patient in my practice about this situation. This is not even worth rating; if it were, I would give it a zero. I cannot believe that 3 times I have been called and still am not able to schedule service. Unbelievable. Again, I am not able to cancel patients appointments on the spur of the moment.” Do you people realize how many patients that would be inconvenienced? This is not about me--this is about others! Something someone knows nothing about. I would never stay in business if I ran a business like this with a product like this.

We have the drawer version of the dishwasher and I am unimpressed with the performance. I have experimented with different dishwasher soaps, loading methods, rinse/wash cycles but I simply cannot get my dishes clean. I have had an ancient dishwasher previously with no issues; switched to this brand and it leaves food particles on dishes, cloudiness on my glasses and grease sitting in the bottom of the unit. I wash the dishes off before putting them in, but no improvement. The wash cycle also takes over 2 hrs which is impractical for the smaller apartment unit that is designed to run frequently with small loads.

The Fisher Paykel refrigerator model E522B is made with junk plastic parts
The Fisher Paykel refrigerator model E522B is made with junk plastic parts that continue to break, and we are not rough on our appliances, as we are senior citizens, and previously owned a Frigidaire refrigerator, that lasted us over 25 years without one repair. However, in one year this Fisher Paykel refrigerator has had the following parts replaced: the rear caster wheels (broken on delivery), the plastic cover on the freezer door (broken when replacing the stripped freezer door handle), the plastic door closer under the door hinge has broken twice now, and a foam insulation kit was installed to help reduce the popping noises from the compressor. F&P customer service takes its good old time in responding to online inquiries about their products, and makes you jump through hoops, before they respond. They dont believe you, even after you register the product online with them, and inform them of how many times the unit was serviced as they still ask for proof (now want photos and receipts), when something breaks. Dont they have a computer system that logs the reimbursements they have made to service repair companies on their products? This will be our last purchase of New Zealand made junk as they seem to have no pride with craftsmanship!

Purchased appliances (Dishwasher/Clothes Washer/Dryer) 8 years ago. Dishwasher still works well (fingers crossed) but both Clothes Washer & Dryer cratered in the last few months. Heating element and bearing both wore out in the dryer (600 C$ to repair) and the transmission broke down in the washer replacement part for our model no longer available so will have to get a new washer (wont be a Fisher Paykel). Previously had domestic appliances for 25 years which worked equally as well without requiring so much as a service call. No more Fisher Paykel for me.

I was one of those customers that was highly encouraged to buy a Fisher & Paykel Washer and Dryer. I was one of the lucky ones that purchased an extended warranty but that doesnt do anything for inconvenience. I have had to have my dryer worked on about five times. Once I had to wait for over eight weeks which means lugging wet clothes to the laundry mat to dry them. Ive had my washer worked on about four times. Now, my extended warranty is up on both machines and I noticed that my washer is leaking water. It seems that the water is coming from the top of the machine. I tilted the machine back and the only part that is wet is the side. I have read on the web that many other people are having the same problem. I purchased the washer in 2006 and the dryer in 2007. I really expected to get at least ten years out of these appliances since they are not cheap.

The last ones I had were the Whirlpool front loaders. I didn’t like them. I’ll never buy a front loader again. We bought from a little appliance store here in Benton. At first, we bought a Speed Queen and it pumped up the water so fast that my pipes wouldn’t take it and it flooded my laundry room every time I would wash. So I called them back and they said they had one that the pump didn’t pump that hard. And we went and traded. They were brand new. I had it about four days and got these which I love. They work great! The experience with Fisher & Paykel went real well. I love it and have already recommended it. My daughter wants one. She likes the fact that the tub is all sealed up in there. Her husband is in construction and he forgets to get nails and things out of his pockets and it just messes all up down underneath hers. But this one is all sealed so nothing can get down underneath there.

We purchased F&P fridge and stove in November 2009 and have been having issues with both since the very beginning (which is not surprising, judging from this site). The purpose of this review is to give our feedback regarding the service weve been getting from local authorized dealers and support they get from the company. No matter what, do not buy any products from Fisher & Paykel! Trying to get their appliances fixed is even more frustrating than finding out that your appliance broke down after only a few months of service. Prepare to wait for weeks and dont be surprised if the problem reoccurs within days or hours of the fix. Then, wait a few more weeks. There is no urgency, no ownership, no pride. I dont believe the company cares. Did you read their responses to customer complaints? They sound like a broken record. At this point, we are seriously considering throwing both fridge and stove out and buy something else. It cant be worse, can it? What a waste of money.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel dishwasher DishDrawer. The brand is very expensive, but I liked the DishDrawer feature and I was willing to pay more thinking it was a good and reputable brand. It turned out to be nothing but trouble. Countless service calls later and I finally gave up about two years ago and started washing dishes by hand. I bought this unit when I was remodeling my kitchen, so I decided to buy the unit that allows you to put the custom cabinet panels on it. So, I wasted the money not only on the dishwasher, but also on the custom cabinet panels. Not only that, but simply replacing the unit would not just be an extra expense I could not afford, but it would also change the look of my kitchen, which I spent so much time and money remodeling. Every time I would call the one and only service company in town to come out, it would work only slightly better and soon stop working again. It never seemed to work at 100% capacity. I think I spent more money on service calls than the actual appliance. How sad is that.

Eco-Smart Washer WA37T26GW2 - I purchased this machine at Lowes for my new home because the salesman raved about Fisher Paykel quality which was my first mistake. I was smart enough to take out the extended warranty from Lowes. After just one year single guy doing ONE LOAD per week. The balance sensor and electronics panel had to be replaced - three service calls, because they received the wrong parts calls and a month later it was fixed. After two weeks same problem and three weeks. Finally problem was resolved and because of the warranty no cost to me. OK fine inconvenience but no biggie. Two years after this issues with the motor or something all in all cost me $350 TO FIX. I WAS PISSED. Now after 5 years of crappy reliability it again seems to have the original issue.. NO friggin way am I fixing this poorly designed and manufactured washer again. Time for a cheapo depo Chinese washer that will no doubt out last this $750 (original cost) POS! over $1000 lesson learned. Stay away from Fisher Paykel appliances.

I have a Fisher Paykel oven and Ive had it for 7 years. I have used the self-clean function only twice and both times the oven overheated and stopped working. The repairs were expensive, $500 - $600, I could have paid for a new oven if Id known it would happen twice. The second time this happened, the repairman told me that Fisher Paykel was aware of the defective thermostat and I could have it replaced but the piece alone cost about $500! My nightmare began when I bought a DCS 48 inch dual fuel range/ovens from Aggressive Appliance, Orlando, FL. I immediately had problems with the light, thermostat knobs and then the problems grew... My ovens would not heat about 300/350 degrees and then would not maintain that temperature. Aggressive Appliances came out over six times to fix my problems. Eventually, after replacing the third thermostat (which I was told was the only part that they didnt make... yeah right!) they said that they could not fix it. The Regional Sales Manager Peter **, then came out and he couldnt fix it either. He then said that they would replace it. I asked him at that time what would happen if the second DCS range did not work, would I be able to get my money back and he said yes, that that wasnt going to happen. Well, you guessed it... Friday they put in the second DCS 48 inch dual fuel range/ovens and the large oven does not even get warm, the light does not go off, the grill had three dents in it. This has been a continuous nightmare which is only going to get worse because I have already sent out over 118 invitations to a huge event at my house which will be catered. They want to try and fix the second range when they should have made sure it worked before shipping it to me. Zero quality control. Save yourself the heartache. Spend a little more money and get something that will work. This product and company are not worth the headaches, tears and frustration. They do not honor their expressed warranty, nor apologize (until I pointed out that no one had even said sorry), nor offer consequential or incidental damages. What was supposed to be an exciting, joyful purchase has been a living hell. Hopefully, you will be wiser because of my pain.

Only one service provider on the area and it took them two tries to fix the bearings the first time. When I pointed out the lint wasnt collecting in the trap, he had no idea where it might be. I saw Fisher Paykel through Consumer Reports years ago. Im a repeat customer of that company. Its my third or fourth purchase with them - the latest being a washer and dryer. Their lifespan isnt as long as it used to be. Theyre not built like they were back 25 years ago when you could have one for 20 years. Not so much plastic should be used in manufacturing some of the push buttons and things that tend to break or wear out over time. The whole face is plastic and the face tends to crack on the buttons that you use consistently. There should be more flexibility in the fabric that theyre using for those push buttons. Theyre pretty simple machines. The noise level on the washer is pretty high. It sounds like you have an airplane in your house. Besides that and things breaking that are too expensive to repair, theyre fine. They wash the clothes and they get them clean. Thats all I can ask for.

Now I cleaned it again and it takes forever to heat up. I just talked to the service guy again and he says it sounds like the element is going out. I do not use my ovens that much. How could I have so many problems with it. Wish I had bought a different brand and now I am thinking maybe that be a better option.

We recently purchased a Fisher Paykel Double Dish drawer. It is extremely quiet even when both drawers are being washed at the same time. My wife enjoys the fact that she can use either one or both drawers and have clean dishes in one and put dirty dishes in the other drawer. She also likes that the dishwasher heats the water during the wash cycle. The dishes are clean at the end of the dishwashing cycle and come out clean without pre-cleaning. The drawers have good capacity. The only downside is that you have to be careful that you dont put any handle or dish above the top of the drawer as it could jam the drawer and make it impossible to open after the dish drawer is run (We have never had this happen, just a precaution). I would definitely recommend this to others.

In April we purchased a $2000 Fisher Paykel fridge with water and ice maker. We quickly realized the door did not close properly and was misaligned as the water/ice maker worked roughly one week on one week off. We called our dealer and they sent out a service representative who told us the water/ice maker could be replaced but he didnt know how to fix the misalignment of the door. He said he would get back to me. By late July nothing had happened and he basically washed his hands of it telling me the Fisher Paykel regional manager had ordered parts and would get back to us. By late September the parts had still not arrived so we started contacting Fisher Paykel America for help. They kept referring everything back to the regional manager who, for some reason, refused to contact us with updates. We were still waiting for a fix when they told us in October that the fridge misalignment could not be fixed. We asked for another fridge and was told that they didnt make this model any more and the closest model that would fit in our space was $500 more and was 0.5 cu. feet smaller. I asked that they replace our fridge with this one at no extra cost and they refused only offering an in-store credit for the original amount. Sorry I expect more for all the grief and inconvenience they have cased us.

My fridge became faulty and I called a Fisher & Paykel (F&P) technician. He recommended that I replace the fridge and gave me a voucher that entitled me to a Loyalty Bonus if I chose the same brand again. I did and submitted my claim for A $50 Gift Card which I was to receive within 48 days. When I did not receive it I contacted F&P who advised that they had already sent it, by ordinary mail. I requested F&P to send me another but they did not accept responsibility for the loss as the Gift Card had been redeemed by somebody. It was their decision (based on their internal policy) to send a Gift Card (which is just as good as Cash) by ordinary mail. Note that postage costs $1 for ordinary and $4.80 for registered mail. I am amazed that an established organization such as F&P acknowledges that they are aware of some issues in recent times where mail has been stolen out of mailboxes but continues to take risks with Gift Cards. They do so knowing very well that it will not be cost-effective for a customer to make a formal claim in a tribunal or court. So when mail gets stolen or lost F&P does not take any responsibility. I have decided that going forward I will not give F&P a single dollar in business because I do not deal with those who are more focused on playing the blame game. F&P may have saved $3.80 in postage but has lost a customer, bought themselves adverse publicity and jeopardised future sales. Good luck to them!

I bought a fridge with 2+3 years warranty. After 1 month of warranty expired. Fridges computer and defrost heater are gone. It cost me almost $500. It was very challenging for Fisher Paykels customer service to talk with them. They said we will get back to you and they never do. I had to call them again and spend so much time on the phone and they dont really care. I never and NEVER buy any Fisher and Paykel product again. My previous fridge was Fujitsu and lasted 20 years without any problem.

Eco smart washer - Well I bought this in 2011 in Lakeport at the Sears. I noticed right away that my whites werent getting white, even though I use Clorox. The next thing was having to constantly re-balance the clothes. Also, my clothes constantly get wound around the thing in the middle. The paddles should have gone all the way to the bottom of the tub. Instead theres like 4 below where clothes can get stuck. Then I did a test with the hot water. I pressed wash in hot water and when it was half-full, I opened the machine and it was cold. Well I tried turning off the cold valve and then I tried using the cold button seeing if they were switched. Then I had a problem where it wouldnt drain. Well it drains now. Clothes still get stuck, get stretched and sometimes ripped, and then come to find out that the hot button doesnt mean wash with hot. It means fill to 2 with hot and then continue filling with cold. The repairman for Sears phoned Paykel and that is what the tech told him is normal for washing in hot.I am steaming mad. Who wants to join a class action lawsuit with me? I am that angry.

Second time using my brand new F&P top-loading dryer; and it started making a loud thumping noise and would not stop. A technician came a few days later and made an adjustment which seemed to work for the next load; but alas, the thumping noise came back soon after. The technician came back and replaced a part. Everything was fine until yesterday; the thumping noise is back, but even louder. I’m very fed up with this dryer. Like other reviewers, I have also had problems with drying time – any energy-efficient feature, this thing purportedly has, is out the window because it takes so long to dry anything. I also have the matching washer; and judging by other comments, Im afraid it, too, will start giving me problems. I would absolutely not recommend this brand to anyone, and I so wish I could return them both and buy something else.

After 8 months, my 24 range stopped working. Two weeks after my initial service call, the service people said they had the parts and scheduled a repair for Tuesday, April 17. I took the morning off, but they did not arrive in time to do the job. So I had to reschedule my service call for today. They said they would be here by 1pm. Then they called back to say they had made a mistake and that in fact, they did not have the part, because it was on back order. So my lost morning off work on Tuesday was for nothing. I am still without the use of my oven. I would like a replacement oven. I paid top dollar for a fancy oven, and not only did it break so soon, it cannot even be repaired in a timely manner. I called Fisher Paykel and stayed on hold for 5 minutes before speaking to someone. I told them what had happened, and they just said to wait for the part to come in and reschedule my appointment and that there was nothing they could do, unless my stove could not be repaired. Meanwhile, 2 lost days at work and no oven for over 2 weeks! I was told I could call back in a few hours and talk to the management team, which I plan to do.

I bought a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and refrigerator quite some time
I bought a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and refrigerator quite some time ago. After 3 or 4 years, the dishwasher was deemed beyond repair so we had to buy a new one. The loading on the new dishwasher is worse than the previous one and neither one of them were very good. We have a very narrow kitchen and the fact that these are drawers rather than the drop down door is very helpful and thats why we tolerate the other shortcomings or things that have changed. The machine is so complicated that it doesnt run well and it cant be fixed when it breaks.

We bought our fridge, brand new in Sep 2011. After 3 years of use, our Fisher & Paykel E240BR fridge has broken down, 3 times in the last 3 months. July 2014 - Fridge was freezing everything, but the freezer was working fine. Called the F&P repair service and they couldnt come for 8 days. When they eventually came, the repairman fixed the thermostat and said it should be good. 30 August 2014 - Fridge & freezer stopped cooling, although motor was running. Everything in the fridge was warm and spoiled. Again F&P repair service couldnt come for a week. In the meantime we had no fridge and had to throw out over $200 worth of food from fridge and freezer.By the time the repairman came, fridge had started working again. He said there was nothing he could do until it broke down. 28 September 2014 (TODAY) - Again fridge and freezer have stopped working. Did not notice until tonight and again everything in the fridge is warm. When we rang the F&P call centre, they cannot come until Tuesday. Ridiculous. Call centre person was extremely rude and tried to say they had fixed it. Um if you had fixed it then why is it warm and stopped working again. Needless to say I am going to buy a new fridge tomorrow. Broken down 3 times in the last 3 months and its only 3 years old. Very unreliable, poorly made product. Will not be buying another F&P in the future.

I had purchased a 6 burner range with DCS brand. The hinges have failed over the years so thought I would replace them. There are many places to buy the parts but thought I would go right to the source. I ordered parts and was assured delivery within 5-7 days. After 2-1/2 weeks I called them. They have no proof of the order. I sent them the confirmation that they sent me showing order number, price, and charged credit card. I sent that back to them and that was not enough proof. I had to go track down and submit proof from my credit card statement that I was in fact charged. I sent that to them and still have not heard anything back. I will give it one more day and then I will fight it with credit card company. I really rely on customer service especially when purchasing something as expensive as this range was. This will be the last time I ever order any appliance with a brand name affiliated with this group. Very disappointed customer!!

I am seeing a recurring theme about the drain pump failures. In my case, the drain pump has now failed 2 times on my GWL11US washer. The first one was leaking all over the floor. After purchasing the second, it was better but still, the floor would get wet under the washer. Not to mention, it took about a month to get a replacement (backorder). I purchased a plastic pan to place under the washer to keep this appliance from ruining my floor. The other day, the windings on the pump motor shorted out, stunk up the whole house and the motor control board just shut down in the middle of the wash.In my opinion, both of these F&P appliances are the poorest excuse for a washer/dryer I have ever seen. The plastic lid on the washer has cracked and the overlays for the operational buttons (keyboard) have many cracks around them also. Had the design engineers put some thought into the control board, they could have planned in some short circuit protection for the control module, so it could survive a shorted load of the pump motor. Or was it planned that way to make more money? This is the first and last F&P product I will ever buy.

I purchased a Fisher Paykel Washer and Dryer in 2009. The washer has worked okay, except for two instances in which the pump wouldnt drain its water and investigation determined the pump had been obstructed by lint. The dryer is another issue altogether. The first problem came just over a year into owning this appliance. The bearing was deemed failed and it had to be replaced. The bearing is less than a year old and the dryer again sounds like bare metal grinding on bare metal. Now...the dryer had to be serviced for heating problems. Specifically, the dryer would run for hours without drying the clothes. It was determined that the lint sensor trips the heater to prevent fire...makes sense, but further investigation found that the fine mesh screen which serves as a filter has dry-rotted and failed, so lint quickly moves to the inside of the appliance and repeatedly triggers the safety mechanism.Question: Why should I have to take this unit apart every couple of days to clean it? The design is obviously flawed. Ive never done such a thing to the previous dryer I owned, nor have my parents...even when there were eight of us in the house. Sadly, I was given the entire song and dance about how wonderful these high priced, gilded turds would save me time and money. Nothing is further from the truth. While the appliance technician has been friendly and helpful (once I can get in touch with him), these appliances have been miserable to own. I share my house with four others and the laundry piles up quickly...not to mention the fact that the dryer is a fire waiting to happen. I had a Whirlpool standard dryer that was seven years old and I got rid of it when I bought these gems...it still worked. What was I thinking? Now the decision must be made...shell out a few hundred bucks for a poorly designed lint filter and service, or, look for an older standard dryer. Guess what...Goodbye Fisher Paykel! Note to others: Stay well clear of this high tech junk.

I bought a $2500 gas range and it was broken as soon as I took it out of the box. When I turned on the oven, the fan failure light came on, so I couldnt use it. I contacted them and two weeks later, a repair technician showed up. He had to order new parts and two weeks later, he installed them, so I could finally use the oven. Once I was able to use the oven, I discovered that the fan that cools the outside of the oven was extremely noisy and vibrated the whole appliance. I contacted them again and a month later, he showed up with a new fan. He installed the new fan and it didnt make a difference. By this time, I had also discovered that even though I set the oven at 200 degrees, the lowest temperature I could get in the oven was 325. Five months later, he came back with special tape to put around the noisy fan which made a difference. Although it is still a little noisy, I can live with it compared to the racket it was making before. He also brought a new thermostat and spent hours installing that. It didnt fit, so the oven knob doesnt fit on right, I have to leave the escucheon off to put the knob on. I cant light the oven with the knob on. I have to turn to the desired temperature, pull off the knob, stick my finger in the hole and press the thing in to get the oven to light. It still didnt fix the problem with the oven and now three of the burners dont work. I bought this stove in September 2010. Its now December 2011 and the problems keep getting worse. All of the delays are either from their representative not getting back to the repairman, or the parts being back ordered for months at a time. This is the worst appliance I have ever owned and I would not recommend this brand to anyone - the oven doesnt work properly; only two out of five burners work and repairs have been dragged out for fifteen months.

On 3/24, we purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator from Lowes. We had the refrigerator delivered on 4/6. The refrigerator worked for only two weeks when the power went out completely. We called F&P on 4/20 (the day it went out) and we were referred to a local authorized service provider. We called the the company they recommended and were not able to schedule service until 4/24. The technician came out and found that the circuit board was bad. How can a refrigerator that is only two weeks old have a bad circuit board? The technician ordered a new circuit board on 4/25. It took a week for the part to arrive and he came to install the new circuit board on 5/4.Within a few hours of the technician leaving, we noticed an F11 error, which has something to do with a fan. We noticed, at that time, that the refrigerator was not cooling, although the freezer seemed to be working. We called the technician back and were not able to schedule another visit until 5/9. By the time the technician comes on 5/9, we will be 19 days with no refrigerator. It is simply not acceptable for a new appliance to work for only two weeks. We paid $2,000 for this refrigerator and it has been broken for longer than it actually worked. I called customer service on 5/4 and explained everything that has occurred. I was offered a 3-month extension of the warranty. How does that fix the problem? Why would I want to extend a warranty on something that doesnt even work? I was put on hold to speak with a supervisor and coincidentally none were available. At that point, the representative told me that she looked over my file again and could offer to extend my warranty an extra six months. This is simply not a solution. How does extending the warranty make up for not having a working refrigerator for longer than having a working one, throwing away all of the food we had in the refrigerator, and having to eat every meal out for three weeks? I told the representative that this was not acceptable and I still wanted to speak with a supervisor. So, now my file has been expedited, and she said I should get a call from a supervisor on Monday (5/7). I hope I do. This refrigerator is clearly a lemon and should be considered DOA (dead on arrival). We should be sent a new refrigerator and receive a credit for our loss of use for three weeks.

Like the 100s of complaints I have just read about F&P clothes dryers mine is no different. Actually, compared to others Im feeling lucky that mine has lasted 6 years before a drum bearing has failed. My issue is two fold:1) After contacting customer service they were totally satisfied with six years and considered it a good run. I, however, am not satisfied with six years since my Maytag lasted 28 years and the only reason I gave it up was for styling reasons. I gave the dryer to a young married couple to use. It might still be running for all I know. F&P were more than happy to sell me, at full retail price, a bearing kit.2) After seeing the 100s of complaints and reading the companies stock response (which is not helpful at all), I am left wondering what the results were and how did the company satisfy the complaint.I have ordered the part from the company ($73.30 plus shipping) and hopefully this will solve my squeaking issue. I wished I had seen this complaint board before I purchased an F&P product. It really makes we wonder how F&P can stay in business.

Customer service is NON Existent. I have a F&P two drawer dishwasher. Generally speaking it is a good appliance, but if you need any parts, forget it. The agitator tends to wear out. It only costs about $100 to get a new one and it is dead easy to replace, BUT in my case F&P shipped the WRONG part under the right part number sticker, so the part didnt quite fit, or work. I engaged a professional, who took the very same part number out of her truck and put it in...and everything worked. Cost me an extra $300... but heres the thing. F&P said tough, we dont accept returns even if we made the mistake!... four times. And after talking to some appliance service people, this is apparently pretty common that what is in the box doesnt match the number printed on the box. So beware.

Which I did. Foolishly I bought another F&P (I was still laboring under the delusion it was a good brand.) That fridge stopped working three months outside the warranty period. The technician (from F&P) tried to fix it once and failed. Tried a second time and failed. By this time I had been without a fridge for days. He then tells me he will have to send way for parts and that might take a few days. In the same breath he tells me hes not quite sure whats wrong with the fridge. Could be the compressor as well. I have purchased all these items and they have all malfunctioned just when out of warranty. I believe this is deliberate. The cost of repair is prohibitive to the extent that I have not bothered with the fridge or dryer however the dishdrawer showed an error code saying to call for a technician. I did this only to find that it worked again when the technician came out. I was forced to pay the call out fee for this. Most recently I wanted a new cutlery basket - not of my model but for the most recent one. I called and thought I had ordered the part - what arrived was one piece out of three. I called again and said I had not received all the parts and explained what I needed. I was then sent the same part that I already had again! I then called back and explained the 2 parts (each different) that I needed. I was then sent 2 of the same parts. I then called again and was told they could not work out which part I needed. We agreed I would send a photo and they would call me back when they got the photo. I received no phone call and called back. I was then sent a diagram to look at which I did and I explained which part I needed. I said that my dish drawer was 7 years old and I wanted the basket that came with the new model. I was then told that the part in the photo clipped onto the side of the cutlery basket. I explained that it was actually inserted into the cutlery basket. The man angrily repeated that it clipped onto the side and told me that it was the part I already had and did not need. I said that if read my email he would see that it was actually the part I needed. He then asked me for the serial number of the dish drawer. I said it would not help as the part I wanted actually came with the new model. He repeated angrily that he needed the serial number. I said that it would not help as my serial number was for a seven-year-old model. I said I would like to speak to someone else as he was upsetting me. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes. I then hung up. I rang again and spoke to Customer Care. I explained what had happened and advised that I still needed the part. I was told I would be called back about it. After 3 days I called back to be told that there were notes on the record to say that I had been called back that morning and a message had been left to say that the part would not be provided to me. I was near my phone at the time and there definitely was no call as verified by my phones missed call record. Ive now called again and am on hold - at this stage its been 35:07 minutes... I paid AU $1800 for my dish drawers 7 years ago - hardly a cheap product. My advice to anyone is: dont ever buy this brand. The appliances are designed to break and the after sales customer service is extremely poor. I have been treated with utter disrespect for my time and a complete lack of care for my feelings.

I purchased a washer and dryer from Lowes. Within a year both needed service, under warranty. The following year both again needed service, the motor in the washer and the board on the dryer. $600 in repairs. Neither under warranty. I spoke with F&P and they wouldnt assist on the repair. On year three, the dryer went out again. I spoke to F&P and they told me to get a repair estimate and they would aid in the repair. The repairman, the only F&P rep in town, told me the units were junk even though they were on their high end. I called back to F&P with the estimate, $250 + $80 diagnostics, and was told, you have lemons. That is the nature of the world we live in. Too bad. I trashed the 3 year old units and replaced with something else. Avoid this company. The units are flimsy to say the least.

I had a Maytag that I had been suffering through with for two years and hated it unbelievably and I did not want one of those front loader machines because of all the mold and whatever issues with the door, and I have to worry about leaving the door open and cleaning the door, cleaning the machine and all that stuff for I got the Maytag and oh my God! I felt like it did a terrible job. I dont like my washing machine being locked for a big long period of time that I cant get into it and I have to sit there and wait and wait. It was horrible. I only used it on one cycle and that was the cycle that filled it all the way up because it didnt do a good job the rest of the time. Finally, I just had enough and I started researching, which I had researched when I bought that one too. But I started researching and really reading a ton of consumer information out there on the internet. I noticed that some other people have had the same problem I had and they bought this Fisher & Paykel. My husband knew I was looking for one and he came up with the same one. I said, Well, I dont know. I guess Ill try it. Well order it from Sears. I paid 200 and some dollars just to have it brought to me. But it was supposed to be new in the box so I ordered it from their outlet. Ever since I have gotten it, the minute you pushed for it to unlock, it stops immediately and its unlocked. And so, thats not an issue for me at all. It doesnt finish its cycle and then unlock. I truly love it. And I choose my own level that its going to be at. You can do that or you can let it do its own thing. I checked it a couple of times when Ive let it do its own thing and it seems just to fill it to where it should. But Im kind of old school so I like to choose my own water level. Also, sometimes Ill wash a load and do a little bit of a bleach in it, and then I want to rewash the whole thing. Once that water spins out of there, I can push it forward to be done with the cycle and start it over again, and that works. The other one did not work - I had to let it complete and for being so energy efficient it used so much energy you just cant even believe. This one, you still get to tell it what to do, you are in charge of it, and it does an excellent job.

My mother had a F&P dishwasher and she loved it very much. Then I had a F&P refrigerator. So when I moved in to my new house that I bought, I decided to go with the Fisher & Paykel again because I really loved that refrigerator. I got the newer model basically the same as the one I had in my apartment.First of all, it’s stainless steel. It’s hard if you have a small kitchen but this one fits perfectly. I love the bottom freezer drawer, and the front of it is so sleek and shiny, very simple. There’s only one thing - it didn’t have the egg carton thing like the little egg rack. And I didn’t want an ice maker so I’m so glad it came without the ice maker. This was the only one that fits the bill. It’s really hard to find nice, counter-depth refrigerator that aren’t humongously wide so it’s absolutely perfect! I love looking at it. I am in love with my refrigerator.

We bought a brand new house with brand new appliances. Since move in, our warming drawer and dishwasher have not worked properly. The dishwasher has always leaked and the warming drawer was actually midwifed AT THE FACTORY. It turned on high and wouldnt turn off. It melted its own thermostat and control knob and was a major fire hazard. We had to turn off the breaker. The parts have since been replaced. The dishwasher is a major leak problem. It is ruining our beautiful new floor. We have had 4 services on it and a replaced part and the bottom drawer still leaks. Despite the fact that it is under manufacturers warranty, the company wont replace it. Save yourself the pain and DO NOT PURCHASE from this company.

When we built our house, my wife did her shopping around for her appliances and she basically liked the dual dish drawer concept and Fisher & Paykel seemed to be the only one around that had it available. Compared to the other dishwashers we had in the past Fisher & Paykel is superior in noise, cleaning, versatility. Being able to use just a minor amount versus the whole thing because it had two drawers, two different sizes. There’s a big problem we had with getting the warranty registered because the builder installed it and we assumed he registered the warranty, but he didnt. So we had to go back and look at the procedures. It took quite a bit of time to get the warranty registered correctly. Since it was a foreign country that was working in the United States, there’s a bit of a language situation too. Their accent was a little hard to understand sometimes.

We purchased a Fisher Paykel custom designed refrigerator 3 years ago. We were leery of buying a $4,000 refrigerator for the same reasons people are advised not to buy a Jaguar - frequent problems, expensive parts and service. Well, we bought it because it could be built to fit in the design of our new kitchen. Two days ago, we noticed a pool of water had begun to make its way across the floor. We called and were told the next available service appointment was February 8th, 19 days away.Problem is, we sold our house and are leaving in 4 days, moving out of state. Fisher gave us the name of a subcontractor repairman. We waited two days for an appointment with him. He just left and said the refrigerator was installed incorrectly to begin with and now needs a part that should have been used in the first place. That part will not be available for 5 days, the day after we move out of state. Long story made short is, in 64 years, I have never had a refrigerator break down and leak. Never. And certainly not a $4,000 one. Never again.

I got a washer and dryer by Fisher & Paykel. I went to Fletcher’s Appliance here in Nashua and I have a good friend. He was a repairman there for the company. And one day, we were looking at different things and I asked him what he thought. He told me Fisher & Paykel is one of the best. He says they have no transmission and explained different things about the machine. He also said that a nursing home had one for 13 years and they just finally got it repaired. And I liked the features of it. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the dryer door. The way it opens. I think it’s kind of old-fashioned. The newer ones fold down so that you can use the door if you need to set a pair of socks or something on it. I’m partially handicapped so I sit on a chair to do the laundry. I was hoping to go on and put my chair there. But other than that, the machines are fantastic. They run great. I’ve had no big problems so far with them in the short time I’ve had them. I’d say they’re wonderful. It’s funny the guy that delivered it couldn’t get the washer to work to pump the water out. And he left and my older son went down and one, two, three, he made it work. Otherwise, they would have sent out a repairman for the first day that it was delivered. And I said to myself, “This is crazy. I bought a brand new machine and now I need a repairman? This is just isn’t working out so good.” But it was just something that they messed up on.

The dryer was making a high-pitched squeaking sound that could be heard all through the house. We called to have it repaired and new bearings were put in. We put in a load of clothes to dry and an error code came up. We tried to take the clothes out of the dryer and it was locked shut. Our clothes were taken hostage. We finally retrieved the clothes and called out the service company. 2 weeks later and 10 parts ordered, the service company came out and replaced what was needed. After going through 3 drums and other parts, the service company deems the dryer unfixable but Fisher and Paykel replied, Then we will keep sending out more drums for the dryer. This is an unacceptable way of dealing with customers and promoting their product. Please advise.

I went to Warners Stellian here in the Twin Cities. I asked what are my options for a 36-inch unit. I had no background on Fisher & Paykel. I got their 36-inch stove. It works, it heats up to temperature. The burners on top are a little bit more aggressive. I would have liked to have a different simmer burner than what I have on there but all things considered, I would give it a 9 out of 10. It is beautiful. I didnt buy it originally because of cost. Its truly a beautiful piece of equipment. I would definitely consider, its a beautiful artistic design and it looks absolutely stunning in my kitchen. It was nineteen years before I got a kitchen remodel and it is a beautiful piece.. Theres a glitch for some reason - if I start the burner on top, it can turn the oven off, I have to be real careful for that. Im not sure why, I should probably check into it. But this is what I like the best out of it and Ill be honest with you - the oven heats to temperature PERFECTLY. And I have such a respect for that because thats what its supposed to do. Thats why you buy an oven! That Whirlpool took an hour to heat to 300 and you have to set it. You dont have enough paper to write my comments on that one.

The other day, my husband was doing laundry and part-way through the load, the washer started beeping and stopped working. He then called the customer support center and got the name of the Fisher Paykel dealer here in town to see how much it would cost to get it serviced. While he was on the phone with the customer support rep, he was told that based on the lights that were showing up it was an error code 346, but was not told what that meant. This morning we called to see what it would cost to have someone come out just to look at the washer and were told he would cost $75! I think that is a large fee, considering we live in the same town less than a mile away. Today, I was looking online and read that the warranty was usually around 2 years. Im sure our washer wasnt 2 years old, so I called the customer support number myself, after taking down the model number, to find out if the washer was still under warranty. The guy on the phone was not able to tell me if the washer was under warranty or not. He didnt even offer to take down the serial number to see when the washer was made, but told me to call the store we purchased it from to see if they still have a record of when the purchase was made. We purchased this washer from Sears and shortly after we bought it, they stopped selling this brand. What should we do if they do not have a copy of the receipt? I dont even think our bank records go back any further than a year online. I have searched to see if I could find the transaction, but have not been able to. I would hate to buy a new washer after only owning this one for less than 2 years, and really dont want to pay $75 just to have someone look at it and then pay for repairs on top of it.

We bought a motorhome and our Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawer was part of the package. It is astounding compared to the ones we previously owned. However it was a little hard to get used to because it’s probably a low end model. It doesnt have any lights on it anywhere, it just beeps, and it wasnt working when we first got moved in but they had somebody come out and fix it and the customer service was incredible. My sister-in-law actually has the double drawer model and when she found out I had one she said, “Oh, you will love every bit about it. It’s just incredible!” Not only is it easy and efficient being in a drawer like that, it does consume less water, it’s quiet. We’re very happy with it and we would highly recommend it to anybody.

I’m pissed off because the dryer was about four years old and I had to have it worked on about three times and ended up throwing it away. On the top load, the plastic parts just broke and the door wouldn’t come up and jammed. It got brittle and broke out. I spent about $900 for this dryer. Right at four years and it just fell apart. The bearings went out about two times. And one of the switches went out. And the door got misaligned. The parts must have been breaking then and so it caught and bent the door. I loved that dryer but I had to get a front load. The top load was more convenient for me. I am not satisfied because of the parts. They need to change the parts. The hard plastic parts dry out and become brittle when it gets heated enough and the bearings they use on there should be linear bearings as they are much smoother rolling and quieter bearings. I could have gone and got another type of dryer than go back to Fisher & Paykel, but I went back to Fisher & Paykel because that’s what I believe in and I got the service out of it, but, if I have another disappointment, they won’t get anything else from me again

First, it was my Fisher & Paykel oven, which by the way, the company came out three times to try to fix. After they said they fixed it, by replacing the main circuit board, It takes well over 90 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees F. What a waste of energy and time!! Plus, sadly, I dont enjoy baking or roasting meals for my family anymore. Now, my refrigerator beeps every time I open the door, upper and lower (it is a french door frig/freezer on bottom). An F20 code is on the door panel. I read about this in the internet and customers are saying it is a $1,000+ fix!Fisher & Paykel are expensive products. Mine are only six years old. I remodeled my kitchen around these products. My only choice is to deal with the company to get them fixed. But I want EVERYBODY to know how unreliable they are!! PS I went to an open house at an expensive condominium/apartment project in Orange County, California. Noticed all the units have Fisher & Paykel kitchen appliances. Oh boy. The national multi-family home builder is NOT going to be happy when homeowners and residents start complaining.

This is a follow-up to the review I wrote on 6-15-13. I sent F&P (Lisette **) an email early, early Saturday morning, like 4:00 a.m. her time. I received an out-of-office reply that she would be out of the office for a couple of more days, so I wasnt hopeful that I would hear back soon. BUT GUESS WHAT? She emailed me back at 5:30 a.m. her time - just 90 minutes later - letting me know that she has asked someone to call me and get things going, and that it would be covered under warranty. One hour later someone from F&Ps NEW ZEALAND office called and got things set up for us! And it is now Monday morning and the service guy is here fixing the washer. So that is indeed terrific service again from F&P that we have received on a machine that has had several service calls. It is outside of the warranty period, but I am glad that they are standing by their product since there were obviously some design problems with the F&P washers that Lowes pushed in 2008 and 2009. Thanks Lisette and F&P!!!

This is a continung saga from my earlier complaint.OK, so I called in the service repair person recommended to my by F&P Customer Service. Now mind you I had absolutely no choice in the matter because, F&P would not allow me to talk to their service personnel unless I was an official appliance repair organization sanctioned by them. The dilemma is as follows: The washing machine was 4 years old and stopped in the middle of a wash cycle. The display panel was dead so I could not read any codes. I Call F&P for advise on how to diagnose the problem. They refused to let me talk to their service personnel. My background is 30 year in computer a EE degree and of those 30 years I spent 4 years fixing large mainframes. So I know a little about electronics, control board, electricity, motors etc. This did not matter to F&P, ok fair enough but why refuse me the option to solve my own problem at my own risk.In addition a new machine would cost me about $550. Now the price tag I was looking at to fix the machine was about $300 to $400 for parts and if you add in a repair person: $100 for diagnosis and then another $250 for labor your talking $700 tops for parts and labor on a machine that lasted only 4 years and cost me approx $500. If I could eliminate the middle man then I could get away with $200 to $300 parts only. Because F&P service would not talk to me I would have to eat the cost for both parts which I speculated could be the problem. They would consider both part and not be restock able. Oh if they had just talked to me.Cutting to the quick the repair person confirmed that the motor control board was bad and, now heres the gem, I also have a burned out pump. To diagnose the pump problem the repair person called F&P service and they instructed him to ohm out the pump. Now I could have done that. So the end result was I was looking at $280 for part and, $250 for labor. On top of that the repair person also offered to buy the machine if I decided to junk it and, buy a new one. So now let me ask you, is there a problem with his scenario. So I called F&P parts and they are shipping me the parts for a grand total of $210 and that includes, shipping. But, there still remains a problem. If I install the part I void the part warranty and if I have the repair person do this then it cost me $250 maybe more because now they loose the part markup. So my position is as follows should I pursue a legal option. F&P recommended the service person I called and had them come is for a cost to me of $100. He diagnosed the problem to be the motor control board and the pump, the latter being assisted by F&P service. If I install both parts, pump then motor control, dont want the pump blowing the motor control again and, the machine does not work, I will conclude the repair person did not meet their obligation and, either I will request a refund for poor service (i.e. I will chase them down using the AGs office first then, take them to small claims) or ask them to further diagnose the issue at no charge. Count on it I will be there when they come in. I know my way around electronics. As for F&P they need to think further about how to deal with product repair. Their customers are being fleeced and F&P is complicate. Now heres a bonus. The repair man told me that the reason the pump went bad, which burned out my motor control board, hmmmm, was because, I used liquid detergent. Yes folks take a look at your grocers shelves and tell me what sort of detergent is being promoted? Thats right, liquid. Appears that liquid detergent breaks down the motor seals. The repair person recommended we use powder. My wife had to search hard to find a powdered detergent. So folk your washer is doomed from day one. Now I dont make these machines but I was wondering if there could be a class action suit in here.Oh and by the way those dryer sheets you put in to make your clothes smell good. Well they can coat your dryer and start a fire and if you have small children well those same sheets will remove the fire retardant material from their clothes.

Very disappointed in the top load dryer. My in-laws moved in with their dryer. This dryer has had service repairs two times in the first year they owned it. Now we are using it as well and the one-year warranty is up. They told us that the last time a service man came out, he showed them where the reset switch is. Apparently, every so often, the heat stops working, and the reset switch has to be reset. So it has been two months now, and I have had to reset the switch three times. This is just a ridiculously faulty product, and Im truly concerned; there is a fire hazard with some sort of electrical issue with this dryer. I am getting rid of it ASAP and going back to Maytag, which I might add, I had a Maytag washer for 10 years and a Maytag dryer for 15 years and never once had a repair to them. Now that is true quality.

My washing machine beeped on Tuesday and I followed the directions in the users manual to try to correct the problem. In the meantime the control panel was burnt out because the drain pump was broken. I called the repairman and he came on the following Tuesday and did not have a drain pump to install because they had just used the last one. I am guessing that there have been a lot of problems with Fisher and Paykel drain pumps. If I would not have tried to correct the problem, I possibly would not have burnt out the control panel. It is costing me $352 to repair the machine. I had ordered a brand new one, the same as what I had and I could have had it delivered on New Years Eve. I slept on it and cancelled the order because I thought I would be saving $300. The repairman said that they have replaced many control panels but Fisher & Paykel have corrected the problem by adding a fuse that will not cause the control panel to burn out. I would have hoped this would have been a product recall and saved a lot of people time and money. I really like my Fisher and Paykel machine but I am disappointed with the product not being recalled if you knew it was faulty. I would hope that I could be reimbursed some of the cost for the repair. The repairman was very knowledgeable and helpful.
