We are an a/c company and have to deal with Trane from time to time. Whenever we have to buy a part, exchange warranty parts or even purchase new equipment, we have to wait on the phone for over 30 minutes to be helped. And in their service stores, it's about an hour wait. On top of that, they charge us "marketing" fee for purchasing their equipment. As if they are doing us a favor. There is no sense of urgency with this company. What a poor service.

We purchased a large new home 5 years ago with 4 top of the line Carrier Infinity systems installed by a very large AC company with a very good reputation. We were never informed that you must register Carrier products within 90 days to receive the advertised 10 year warranty. I called about a year after install and thought it would be an easy adjustment for them to give us the full warranty but I was told by one agent and then her supervisor that they each always register their own personal products within the required time and I should learn to do the same. I wasn't amused by their advise. They then only were willing to give the minimum 5 year parts only warranty and replaced multiple air handler blower motors, control boards, temp sensors, controls, condenser unit fan motors and more parts without paying any labor. Fortunately due to having 4 units, when one downstairs unit goes out the cool air from upstairs keeps it very comfortable in our main area of the house, and if you didn't check the thermostat you would never know one was out. Our main area unit has been out for the last 6 months. On three separate service trips to repair the unit, it would go back out between a few hours to the next day. I was unsure when our 5 year warranty was over and as it turns out we had a tech back 4 days after the expiration, and on this trip another condenser fan motor was bad. Carrier Infinity units use a very high dollar motor, the book installed price without warranty is about $1400. I called Carrier and asked about a goodwill extension on that motor but was informed that as it may have been out while under warranty, it is now a few days past the expiration so it is not covered. These failures were not due to poor installation as there are 4 units all with different problems and were installed by a company that Carrier actually recommends as a top installer and they were as well as other companies were back to try to do many repairs. This seems to be a common Carrier experience. I read comments from Carrier dealers defending the product trying to deflect criticism on other installers but that's not realistic. I hope my experience helps others decide on a purchase and remember that even if they gave a 10 year warranty, you still pay for the labor to repair unreliable equipment.

I employed an Air Conditioner to replace my Central Air unit. Goodman A/C was recommended by the salesman. The next day after the installation, my wife and INoticed that a noise came from the A/C condenser unit. I contacted the contractor and informed him that I was concerned about the expensive noise that was being emitted from the A/C, I was told by him that this was normal. I then contacted Goodman Manufacturing who in term informed me to contact the Contractor who then in turn should contact their supplier for further investigation. It has been several weeks now, the noise at start up has been steadily been increasing in sound. Up to now nothing has been resolved, I am am now in the cycle of phone tag. My wife has medical problems and requires an A/C that functions correctly. Where do I find a solution for this problem? I have paid for this Unit. I did not get it for nothing.

I have a Goodman heat pump that is less than 4 years old but has had many problems in that short span of time. I'm already aggravated that I'm sitting in the heat with no relief, but what really makes my blood boil is the way I was treated by Goodmans customer service. My air conditioner is out AGAIN and I'm sick of paying all the service fees associated with keeping it running. My compressor has now gone bad so even though the part warranty will replace it, I'm out the $1400 it cost for labor. I feel like they should absorb those cost since they sold me a defective unit that won't stay in operation more than a couple months at a time.

I worked in industrial HVAC for over 30 years. We purchased a home that had a 2012 Carrier air handler model # FX4DNF037 and Bryant Condenser. I replaced the condenser motor and cap on a unit that was placed into service 6/29/2012 on July 22/2017. After a storm blew through Sunday evening the evaporator fan blew up on start up. I called Carrier and it only has a 5 yr warranty, I was told sorry have a nice day. This is BS to have a unit 5 yrs old lose 2 motors. Not to mention the cost of the Xm evaporator motor is several hundred dollars. These new motors does not have cost savings the consumer is told they do. If a motor replacement is $400 @ 5yrs then you will never see a return on investment, energy savings. Total junk. I suggest people install a regular 1/2 hp motor with a fan relay at half the installation cost. I've worked on hundreds of Carrier, Trane & York units from 1/2ton window units up to several thousand ton chillers. I've even been to the Carrier training facility is Syracuse NY.As a Retired licensed stationary engr. we started noticing the lack of repairability in the 90's on all refrigeration and motor control units. Once the energy craze took off cooling units (all motors/controls etc) became electronic nightmares. The consumer is being fleeced as some contractors are charging 1000$ to replace a motor and capacitor, board whatever part they think might be bad because these units can't be properly diagnosed once a internal part goes bad. 5 yrs in and I'm looking at just under a 1000$ in repairs for a 4000$ unit. All energy money savings is lost on repairs. I use to work on units that were 20-30 years old and were still operating with minimal repairs.

I purchase 3 Ruud A/C units for my new construction home off of great experience from my 25+ year old theme unit in my previous home. I currently have two 3 ton units and one 2 ton unit. Within 1 year my 2nd unit would not cool, service tech had to replace condenser coil.... Looked as if it was damaged from factory. That winter it would not run in heat pump mode, had to replace control board in condenser unit. Following year same unit would not cool again..... Evap coil bad, had to be replaced. The following spring the AH blower motor would not come on, new ECM module and motor replaced. Year 3, this same unit would not cool again and my 2 ton unit would not cool effectively. Both units had leaky evap coils that had to be replaced. Now as I write this the 2 floor unit is not running again, I suspect the ECM or blower motor. South Louisiana in summer is not fun with no AC. Summary: In less than 3 years I've had 4 coils a control board, ECM and motor replaced in 3 units, all the while fighting tooth and nail with Ruud customer service that is of no help. Oh and by the way the 10 year condenser unit replacement warranty is only if the compressor goes out. Yes they will cover parts under warranty but not labor or refrigerant. I have over $1,600 in repair bills on what was supposed to be high-end units. DO NOT buy Ruud.

We purchased our home in 2013. My a/c was out in August this year with bad coil which only 2 years and 2 months a/c system. I was told by Trane rep the coil part is not covered by warranty because is over 2 years. We have to paid a/c company full price to replace the coil. Now after 3 and half months later it's go out again. Many people telling us the Trane coil part is not quality part, broke very easy in the short time. I am extremely upset with Trane a/c unit. House only 2 years old. Should not have such problems! Not sure there are people out there has the same problem as me? What advise someone can give us.

We purchased a Goodman HVAC 3-ton GSZ130361BC in April 2012. In June 2014 we paid for 3 pounds of coolant. On July 12, 2014, one more pound of coolant was added. They found the evaporator coil was leaking. On July 17, 2014, a new coil was installed. It required two men to remove it, so we had to pay $400 extra. One year later, July 26, 2015, the system has shut down. It appears to be an electrical problem this time. Our 3-yr-old system has already cost us $954 in repairs (not counting today's pending repair). We definitely would not recommend this product.
