Why Does My Grill Keep Clicking?
Publicado en: August 8, 2022

When you step outside the grill for some food, you expect your grill to work properly. Therefore, it can be frustrating if your grill is not working as it should. When you turn the dial, you expect to hear the grill click. Then, you expect the flames to light up. When this doesn’t happen, you might be wondering what the problem is.

Figure Out if the Problem Is a Gas Problem or a Spark Problem.
Ultimately, there are a lot of potential reasons why your grill might be clicking and not lighting. The vast majority of these problems are going to fall into one of two categories. The first potential problem is that something is wrong with the gas supply. If there is no gas flowing to the grill, the grill is not going to light.
Second, there could also be a spark problem. What this means is that there is gas going to the grill, but there is no spark to light the gas. Therefore, the grill is not going to ignite as it should.
Fortunately, it is relatively easy to sort through these possible problems. What you need to do is open up the supply to the gas tank. Then, take a long match, strike it, and drop it in the grill. If the grill lights as it should, then you know the gas is flowing appropriately. Therefore, you have a problem with the spark system. If you light the match and the grill still does not light, there is a problem with the gas supply.

The Propane Tank Is Not Hooked Up or Opened.
This is one of the most common reasons why you might be hearing the grill click without it lighting. If the propane tank is not properly hooked up or open, then there is no gas flowing to the grill. As a result, it is not going to light.
Take a look at the propane tank and make sure it is properly hooked up to the grill. There should be a hose flowing between the propane tank and the grill. Then, take a look at the dial and make sure it has been opened appropriately. Usually, you have to turn the propane tank dial to the left to open it. If you are having a difficult time getting it open, then you may want to use a wrench to help you.
Of course, you should also make sure there is still gas in the tank. Propane tanks can still be heavy even when they are empty. Therefore, take a close look at the tank and make sure there is still gas inside.

The Hose Is Kinked.
If you are certain that the propane tank still has gas in it and it is open, then you need to take a look at the hose as well. If there is something wrong with the hose, this is a gas supply problem. The hose is responsible for taking gas from the propane tank to the grill. If the hose has gotten kinked or clogged, then no gas will flow to the grill.
Look for any signs of objects that have been placed on top of the hose. If there are any objects obstructing the flow of gas through the hose, these objects have to be removed. You should also make sure the hose is not clogged.
You may want to disconnect the hose from the propane tank, put it in a solution of warm, soapy water, and allow the debris to fall off the hose. You may also want to use a pipe cleaner to make sure the inside of the hose is clean.

The Igniter Is Blocked.
Another potential spark problem has to do with the igniter. The igniter is responsible for combusting the gas when it flows to the grill. If the igniter has been blocked, the grill is not going to be able to light up the gas.
There are a number of possible reasons why the igniter might be blocked. The most common reason why this critical component is blocked is that there is a lot of food debris stuck on the igniter. When you grill food, fat and grease are going to drip onto the inside of the grill. In some cases, this could land on the igniter, blocking it.
You need to make sure you clean the grill every time you use it. This means you have to remove the grates, use a solution, and clean the entire inside. This includes the igniter. As long as you clean the grill regularly, you should not have to worry about this problem.
