The door handle broke on GE Advantium microwave. My complaint is that the plastic handle costs $103.00 just for the part. That is ridiculous! The unit is 6 years old so I dont expect it to be free. I just dont understand how they can justify that much.

I purchased a dishwasher and it doesnt dry the dishes. It leaves the dishwasher and the dishes wet. I was told they have a fix. However, nothing has been done. If you want wet dishes, dont buy. They told me to raise my water temperature on my hot water tank and to run my sink water until it goes hot. They told me to buy Rinse Aid. Well, I did it all and it still doesnt dry. This is an energy saver appliance. Ha, ha, its because they are saving energy at our expense.

Adora Microwave - door falling apart: This microwave is supposed to be installed above a range. The materials are not suited to this. The plastic door has disintegrated. We have got through 2 handles. I took the 2nd one off to replace it and the plastic that holds the glass in place just disintegrated onto the floor along with much other plastic parts. Why is the door plastic in the first place if they cannot make it from a heatproof material? Only 4 years old and we are going to have to junk it. When the first handle failed under warranty GE said that it was not covered as it is a plastic part! They finally covered it after a long conversation.

Door would not latch, so entire locking mechanism was replaced. Still wont lock. Repairman said it looks like door is warped or bent and door may need to be replaced. We have used the dishwasher twice a week for a year and suddenly it wont lock. Have heard this is a common issue. Is this true? Is there a recall?

If you plan to use your dishes for food or drink or if your pets eat food from bowls, dont buy a GE dishwasher if you expect items to get clean. Seems entirely incapable of producing grit-free clean dishes. Is particularly noticeable on the glasses. And I clean the filters all the time (manual recommends periodically) and I am taking a break from cleaning said filters to tell the world that GE Dishwashers are junk.

I purchased a dishwasher and it doesnt clean all the dishes. They sent out a repairman on 4 different occasions (one came out twice) and each one gave a different reason why they think it wasnt working right (what we are doing wrong). Each time, we followed their directions and the machine still doesnt clean. A decision was made that they will not replace the dishwasher, but would offer us an extended warranty. I explained that an extended warranty is useless to me if the machine isnt working correctly now.

Has anyone experienced a plastic burning smell when the dishes are drying? My dishwasher is 3 years old and I wash on Light cycle which is suppose to be 45 minutes long but goes for 85 minutes. Company said to turn off circuit breaker and turn back on and it should be fine, it isnt. Last two times I used the dishwasher it wouldnt completely shut down so I had to do it manually and before I did this I could smell a plastic burning smell but there was nothing on the elements. I called for a service call but they were shut down for 4 days.

Our GE Dishwasher is about 22 months old and is now not starting. GEs customer care is a joke. All they want to do is send a repair person with a $110 fee just to come and the person making the appointment refused to tell what the labor rate would apply once they got there. They offered zero help as far as troubleshooting. I called a local repairman and was told he has had many similar issues with newer GE Dishwashers. We are throwing parts at the problem now trying to get it running. He also said repair assistance or troubleshooting from GE is very poor. Really not pleased having a less than 2 yr old major appliance not working. GE means JUNK to me.

I purchased a GE Profile™ 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Sensor Microwave Oven and paid over $500. I have had it 3 years and in the first 6 months it broke. It was under warranty and the $400 fee (door replacement) was covered. Then it broke 1 1/2 years later and I received a quote for $200 in labor plus the cost of parts (no longer under warranty). When the repaid guy walked in the house he said, Oh, one of these. Is it the door? I said no, we already had the door replaced, but his comment was very telling that I purchased garbage. I fixed it myself for $10 - it was a fuse. Then it broke 2 weeks later and I believe it is the fuse again. I contacted GE because I believe I received a lemon and they are willing to give me parts at 50% and nothing more. This was the worst investment decision I ever made and I caution others to not purchase this microwave.

I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

Bought a new GE microwave cafe series in May 2014. Within one month the handle which was not stainless steel started to peel and cut my wifes hand. GE sent a replacement new door for the unit that did not close. Then he had to transplant the handle from the new door to the old door. A month later the unit failed. A new replacement unit took 2 months to replace. It has worked 3-4 weeks and has also now totally failed. Our experience with GE CAFE microwave and GE service process is poor to miserable. I would not recommend this product or their service to anyone.

They wanted to replace the microwave and the stove for over $2400. I can buy the full set from Best Buy for almost $2300 all in Samsung brand. Also, this related to paint issue. Maybe the paint is a very low quality or something related to lead-paint. Imagine you are warming up the food and know nothing about the paint is peeling, and each time you have small pieces in your food. I wish I could add the recording of the microwave that everybody could see.

For the amt. of money I paid for this microwave, you would think it would outlast the house. I bought it 3 yrs ago. The touchpad covering started to get warped right off the bat, and the handle was always steaming hot when you used the stove top (also GE). The other day, while using the stove top, I happened to look at the microwave, and it had no power. I checked the breaker, it was fine. I happened to notice a crack on the touch pad. After further investigation, I noticed the entire touchpad is shattered. It was clearly from the heat given off from the stove top. And I wasnt even using the microwave at the time. I sent GE an email, didnt even get an auto response. I am going to call them, but we all know what they are going to say, and I am not paying $482 for the part. Was hoping there was a recall, since so many people on the net complain about the touchpad.

Im very upset with my self for not doing the proper research on this product. I cant imagine a dishwasher being worse than this one. From day one, it never cleaned; half the dishes are always dirty. Some soaps work better than others. Still dirty dishes. We paid nearly $1000 for this machine, and once again, it has backed up. I will do my research next time. Their service department tried to tell me it was because it needed to be cleaned. GE never again! I have a busy family, and there is nothing more frustrating than having a dishwasher and not being able to use it.

I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

The side panel of our built-in GE Profile microwave 1999 caught on fire when my daughter was using it. It had a faint glow behind the metal plate. Then, it became flames quite quickly. A flash and pop was the ultimate end before we turned it off during the test. It had been working fine until the fire. This is a definite safety issue. Now that I know the microwaves have been faulty, it makes me concerned about the GE Profile electric stovetop burner. I have noticed it gets extremely hot and doesnt seem to want to turn off!

I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe appliances (dishwasher and range). After a few months, it stopped working and ge sent a repairman to fix it under warranty. He took it apart, replaced the touchpad panel, but told me that the old panel was still good and that I could keep it for the future in case I needed it. And I did. It stopped working a year ago. I took the whole machine apart, put in the original touchpad, and it worked. Until about a week ago. I went away on the Fourth, and when I returned 3 days later, I had the same problem for the third time. I just called ge service and was told that the replacement for the touchpad is $600. When I started to say that I could buy two Microwaves for that amount, the ge service person cut me off and asked if she could help me with anything else. Rude. In addition to this, the Cafe Range ($3000) has three unusable knobs because they were made of cheap PLASTIC and are cracked. They just spin and turn nothing on. When the third one broke, my wife had turned on the power boil and was unable to turn it off until I came home 2 hrs later. A huge FIRE HAZARD!! To replace the six knobs is, you guessed it, $300. I could buy an inexpensive stove for that. I have purposely used ge in lower letters because that is the way I feel about their appliances and their service.

The repair company on their 4th visit told me wrong part again and that they refuse to come out anymore. They lost enough money already. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I have a 5yr extended warranty on the dishwasher and I cant seem to get anywhere with the factory warranty. GE by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They were happy to take my money for 4 top of the line appliances, after that youre non existent to them. Its a shame that legal counsel is what seems my only avenue. I purchased a GE Microwave oven, model #JVM1540DP1BB and, in seven months, the interior paint started peeling. I contacted the company and they said, go ahead and use it. It wont hurt anything. (Well, actually, it doesnt heat as well now.) They offered me a discount on another GE Microwave. I advised them that the oven was manufactured three months prior to my purchase and so the Microwave was only ten months from birth to death - it was also made in Malaysia and so was purchased practically straight off the boat - and should have been covered under warranty. The response to that was, Im sorry. Im only authorized... Fine. Let me talk to your boss, I said.I was connected to another company mouthpiece who promised to send a serviceman out to look at it. The next week, said serviceman did come to the house. He told me they could take it in and ...see if they could fix it or they could give me a discount on another one. Again I iterated that the microwave should be replaced at no cost. He flat out told me, They wont do that.My next fiasco with this danger trap was several months later when it started turning on of its own accord. So, we had to keep the oven unplugged at all times unless actively in use. I again contacted GE and was again advised that they would be happy to offer me a discount on another... blah, blah, blah. After a couple of years of using this machine, I called GE one last time. I spoke to the regional vice-president, Gary **. The response this time was truly mind-boggling. They had no record of my having called previously!!! But, after telling them I felt their product was inherently defective by design and, not only would I never purchase another GE product EVER, I have emptied my house of any and all GE products right down to the light bulbs, have purged my mothers house, and advise everyone I know of my experience, recommending they, too, do not patronize GE.He began repeatedly screaming at me, What do you want me to do? I told him that, two or three years previous, I wanted them to replace a defective microwave. Now, and following their abhorrent customer service, I wouldnt want anything from them and, if they were to tell me the sky was blue and water was wet, I would not believe them. I was not inclined to pay six hundred dollars yearly for a new microwave oven, so there was nothing they had I would ever want. I then pointed out that I purchased a Sony microwave for my mother when my grandson was six years old. Hes twenty-four now and both the id and the oven are still going strong. Then HE hung up on ME! I have noticed others here who have had similar experience with GE Microwaves so my recommendation to anyone considering a new microwave oven is to steer clear of GE at all costs. I only gave them a one star rating because I couldnt give them a negative star rating.

He was very helpful and understanding of the situation and helped resolve the issue with my dishwasher. My issue was with a customer service representative in the recall center when I inquired about anyone else having issues with their dishwasher and if there was a recall on the machine I purchased. Anyway on Nov 27, 2018 the water started coming out from my tiles and I didnt understand why? I kept drying and it kept dripping. I was so worried and called a handyman. He told me it is the dishwasher dripping water. All my cabinets, my tiles are wet inside. I have called and report it and today a technician was coming to repair it (which I will not accept.) I want a peace of mind. I need a new working dishwasher. Today, the technician was supposed to call me before arriving and I was 5 minutes away and left. Now, your customer service reps are telling me to wait till Tuesday. I am having guests and my house is a mess, I have the dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen, everything is stinking to humidity and all happens because of this BAD PRODUCT. I moved into our house about 27 years ago, and have had to replace every single appliance except the microwave. The oven, fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher—all replaced at least one time over. But this 90s GE microwave keeps humming along. I really should replace it just because it is this awful off-white color and everything else in our kitchen is part of a beautiful stainless steel/black/white scheme, but it is actually built right into a cabinet and I fear I will not be able to get another microwave in there. The only gripe I have about its performance is the fan comes on and roars full-blast anytime the stove or oven is on. It is so loud its difficult to talk over.

From these posts, Ive seen people saying that they couldnt trust GE American-made anymore. Our microwave oven was made in Malaysia, but GEs home office appears to be in Louisville, Kentucky. Our problem: peeling paint on the door and upper part of our 2009 GE #JES1451DN1WW oven. As a cancer survivor of 8 years, my antenna goes up with any defaults such as this. I live in a condominium building with approximately 105 units. We all had the same GE microwave installed in our units approximately five years ago (contractor-installed). I sent out a mass email to all of the owners to ask if they were having the same problems I was having my microwave, which was the touch panel will not accept commands. I received approximately 15 complaints from various homeowners with the same complaint. When I called GE to tell them the problem I was having with my microwave, they told me a technician would have to come out and diagnose the problem. The service call would be $99.95, and at that time the technician would let me know what the problem was and tell me the charge for the replacement part and labor cost. I told GE Customer Service that there were many people in my condo building who were having the same problem and I wanted to know why each homeowner should have to pay the initial $99.95 service call fee? The response was, That is our policy. To placate me, GE customer service said they would charge me the initial fee but I would receive a 25% discount for parts and labor. In the meantime, two or three other homeowners made service call appointments for their microwave oven with GE. One homeowner was given a fee for parts and labor, which would have been only slightly less than buying a new microwave and another homeowner was not given a labor cost. In both cases, the homeowners did not go forth with their repairs, because buying a new microwave was more cost effective.I want Consumer Affairs to know GE grossly mishandled this malfunction issue amongst a group of homeowners who own the same microwave. Secondly, I realize the microwave ovens are five years old, but GE should have some record regarding failing parts along with the life cycle of this product. Lastly, I want GE to be held accountable for not telling consumers a repair cost for certain issues. There should be a cost per hour, not cost per broken item.I kept records of all correspondence amongst the homeowners of my condominium building, so I will be of great assistance if you need further help from me. Product malfunction is a GE Profile Spacemaker 2.0 Model # JVM2070SK02.

I purchased a slate dishwasher in Oct, 2014. After the third cycle the soap would not dispense (door would not open) or the soap dribbled out and remained running down the door. I had to run the cycle twice to get the dishes clean and for the soap to dissolve. I called the store at which it was purchased. A tech came out and replaced a part. Did not work. After the second time, when the tech said nothing was wrong, even though he saw the soap running down the front door, I called GE. They sent a tech from a different store. After the eighth repair I told them I wanted it replaced. They had already replaced the soap dispenser twice, the control board and even told me to move the baskets (ridiculous). They also suggested I run hot water before the cycle! They said if it was repairable they could not replace it.We went back and forth with this and they finally agreed to replace it. Got the new slate dishwasher in July, 2015. After two cycles I started having the exact same issues! I will not deal with GE or ever buy another of their appliances. I will tell everyone I know not to deal with this company. Quality is terrible and service was extremely frustrating, having to take off work numerous times and wait hours for the service person. In the end, it never worked!

I bought a JVM3670SK05 a little under two years ago. It is an above the cooktop vent-a-hood microwave. I believed I was buying a quality unit. Now everything is working, but there’s no heat! Even the cheap units from Walmart work longer than this expensive piece of crap! Now I either have to spend enough to buy a new hood for cooktop and new microwave or pay the same price and buy parts in hope that they will not go out again. Not really feeling lucky with the GE product.

I have used 4 dishwashers of various brands in my house over the past 30 years. The current one is a new GE dishwasher (Model No: GDT695SSJ0SS), which is by far the worst. The dishwasher never dry, no matter which cycle I choose. When it is done (green light on) water still flowing down everywhere inside - on the door, on dishes, at the bottom. When I called GE customer service it said I have to use rinse agent in order to get it dry. Of course that means we have to constantly buy that additional product (made by a GE subsidiary?).For those who dont remember this, our old dishwashers did not required the use of additional product and still dried dishes perfectly. GE is apparently producing products of lower quality, yet the repairman sent by GE claimed that this model is their best ever. Really? Is this company so arrogant that it pays no attention to the convenience of its customers? Since the repairman found no defect with the machine (even though it does not dry), GE refused to accept either a replacement or a return. From design to functions to price this is indeed a lousy machine. Ill never purchase another GE product again.

My Microwave that is four years old suddenly wont heat anymore. It still runs but there is no heat. They told me its out of warrantee already. The repairman says its the magnetron and it costs $600 to replace! The oven microwave combo unit is $1500 altogether to replace. I bought another Walmart microwave for $47 and it works great! My 4-month old dishwasher started to leak so I called GE to repair since it is still under warranty. Technician said there was a superfluous piece on the gasket which he removed. Dishwasher was fine for about 2 cycles when it started to leak again. As GE do not have a weekend service I had to take a second half day off work. Different technician said the gasket was not pushed in correctly and I should check it each time before running it. Shouldnt this be part of the design - a gasket that stays put?! Ran the dishwasher. Water all over the floor. The new floor that is getting ruined by this clearly faulty appliance.

Beware of GEs scam! My new house came with a GE microwave oven model JVM16
Beware of GEs scam! My new house came with a GE microwave oven model JVM1630. It no longer heats food so I called GE repair. Heres basically what they told me: It is likely the magnetron tube and it is still under warranty, so no charge to replace it but I would have to pay $99.95 for the repairman to come to my home to diagnose the problem. If I decided I didnt want to repair the microwave, I was offered a $100 coupon toward a new one but it had to be a GE and it had to be bought on their website only. If I decided to go ahead with the repairs, the $99.95 would be deducted from the bill and I would only have to pay for additional parts and labor. I repeatedly asked for a ball-park labor charge so I could make an informed decision as to whether it was cost effective to have the repairman come out or just get a brand new one elsewhere. The person on the repair line hung up on me! I called back and I was told the same thing; that no one could tell me what the labor cost estimate might be. I asked to talk to a supervisor and same story. I didnt schedule a repair because I was taking a long trip and wouldnt be using the microwave anyway. When I returned from my trip, I called GE repair and again they wouldnt give me a ball park figure. Frustrated, I decided to have the repairman just come out and repair the darn thing and an appointment was scheduled for the next Monday. I had to rearrange a Monday day trip to Wednesday and set the repair appointment. On Monday, it was starting to get late in the afternoon, so I called to find out if the guy was on his way. A recording said my call was noted and I would be receiving a follow-up call. About 10 minutes later, Kim in dispatch called to tell me she had to reschedule the repairman to Wednesday. I explained I already had an appointment on Wednesday. which was already changed because it conflicted with the repairman coming to my home. She told me the repairman couldnt come because his truck wasnt safe to drive so that whole day was shot. The appointment was rescheduled for Wednesday and I had to again reschedule my other trip. When the guy finally showed up on Wednesday, he told me to put a glass of water in the microwave and start it. Ten seconds later, he declared it to be the magnetron tube. He was at my house about 10 minutes, just long enough to take my $99.95 credit card payment and to give me an estimate of $246.90 to repair the microwave which included the free magnetron tube, a $20 part plus tax and labor. The estimate had instructions on how to get the $100 coupon if I decided to buy a new GE microwave, which he said is what most people do. He didnt seem like he came prepared to repair the microwave at all. I was so frustrated and already out the $99.95, so I told him to go ahead and repair it. He said I should call repair to schedule him to come back to repair it! I told him to just repair it now and he said he didnt think he had a magnetron tube in his truck. I asked him if he would go to the truck and check! He did, and nope, no tube and he left.I think this is a great scam GE and maybe others have going. Its entrapment. They get you to accept a repairman to come to your home and charge you nearly $100 for it, but give you a coupon for $100 for a new one but it has to be a GE and can only be bought from their website where they can go as high as $500 or $600. By the way, I got on the website to find a replacement. My model had been discontinued and the only one in my price range was also a discontinued model. They charge $75 to come out to install it and another $30 to take away your old one. I called local appliance stores to see if I could unload my old microwave for parts and they all said the same thing: stay away from GE products.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. The panel is now dead and my only option, having tried the fixes on Youtube, is to invest money starting at $108 for an inspection or buy a new Microwave. My entire experience with this product has been a big disappointment as I also own a GE Cafe range, fridge, and dishwasher.

It is very quiet and does an excellent job cleaning. I really like the new slate finish on the front panel. It has a stainless effect but does not show marks as well as SS and is very easy to clean. Great design, the top rack is adjustable and the use of internal space was well thought out. Very simple / uncluttered and I like the control mounted on the top door feature. Dont recall the model number. The washer was in the $650 price range which is sort of in the middle but has a SS tub. In my opinion the performance and features are no less than more expensive brands / models.

GE Profile Microwave JVM1850DMCC - For the third time in 5.5 years, Ive experienced a magnetron failure in a GE Profile Microwave. The first failure was fixed under warranty. The second was so bad, the microwave had to be replaced, but it was no longer under warranty. I should have heeded the warning and gone to another brand, but on 12/31/10, I paid over $500 to replace the microwave with a new GE Profile to match the existing appliances. Apparently this was a big mistake as the magnetron has failed yet again. The microwave is on its own separate 20A circuit, so that shouldnt be an issue. It would seem, however, based on the number of complaints I see on this site, there is something inherently wrong with the manufacture of these microwaves, or more specifically the magnetrons. Im extremely disgusted at this point.

Model GLD5660V00SS - seems to be an entry-level dishwasher compared to others I have used/had in the past. It is rather small inside - usually have to run it every day or every other day for just two of us. It is plastic inside and the wheels have already come off a couple of times even though Ive only been using it since July. Having said that, it does a decent job cleaning and is easy to load. The outside with the stainless panel is attractive and the controls are easy to use. It has a large, removable silverware bin that keeps silverware from nesting. However, the holes are not large enough for the knives to fit in properly. The tops are removable, so I can just put them in another section.

We bought 3 GE Profile appliances in 2005 when we renovated our kitchen. We have not had much problem with the gas oven/range/stove. We have, however, had nothing but problems with the microwave (which I submitted a separate review for) and the dishwasher. Recently, a friend made some suggestions regarding the dishwasher. I then went online and watched some tutorials on troubleshooting my dishwasher problems. I tried all the new suggestions and the dishwasher worked OK the one or two times after that and then back to all the old problems: 1. We have to scour every dish until its nearly clean before loading (even though the instructions specifically stated no pre-rinsing necessary). 2. I am not sure the soap cup opens. The soap is always left caked in the cup resulting in running the dishwasher twice. We have tried all kinds of various soaps and they all do the same thing. The eco-friendly soaps are the worst. We strive to be eco-friendly, but how can we be if we are using the harshest soaps possible AND running our dishwasher twice?! Not to mention the pre-rinse scour and running water until it is 120 degrees prior to running.3. The dishwasher also leaks and is very noisy.I have read some other reviews on this product and realize our dishes are not always dry at the end. This is a non-issue for me. I dont care so much if the dishes are dry. I do prefer for them to be clean. Dishes are a task I do not prefer to do. It would be nice to have a functioning helper. I am grateful the thing hasnt caught on fire. I saw that this dishwasher currently sells for $800-$1,500. I cannot believe it. I wouldnt spend $100 on this piece of junk.

Our GE Microwave Oven/Convection Oven Combo (Model: PT970SRSS) is a little over 2 years old. The interior paint on the ceiling of the microwave oven is chipping and bare metal is exposed. In addition, the microwaves glass turntable frequently slips off its plastic tripod base. Circular scratch marks, which also expose the underlying metal are evident in the area which is located directly below the glass turntable. The circular scratches are a direct result of the glass turntable scraping against the paint. The GE repairman said chipped paint is not repairable and that paint should not ever chip in a microwave, let alone a relatively new microwave. After many calls back and forth to the GE Consumer Relations person, we were offered a new combo at a discounted rate of approximately $1,000. (We paid around $2,000 originally.) Im not satisfied with this offer. I strongly feel that consumers should NOT have to pay to replace a defective item. GE needs to pull these defective and dangerous products off the market! If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Fact no. 1: On 02/25/07, I supplanted a burnt-out 12-year old Kenmore microwave oven. Regretfully, my replacement of choice is a GE JES1456WJ02 unit acquired at Home Depot in Cumberland. At that stage, my spouse was afflicted with an advanced case of Parkinsons disease, and eventually, I had her concerned caregiver reporting having found chips of paint spread on food extracted from the new oven. From that point onward, I established a close watch of the infamous appliance, after confirming that the chipping paint originated from the roof of the GE oven. But I withheld from filing a claim with GE at the time because my wifes health deterioration absorbed all my attention.Fact no. 2: But on 12/12/09, a couple of months after my beloved one passed away, I decided to take the oven to a Home Depot claim department where they immediately agreed to replace the defective unit for another one of similar characteristics. With a sigh of relief, thinking that I had taken care of the problem, my assumption was incorrect.Fact no. 3: Today, 10/28/11 in fact, I discovered chips of paint floating over a plate of soup extracted from the GE oven. I was aghast! I couldnt believe it! Still, further inspection determined that the lousy internal coat of paint is likewise peeling off from this monstrosity appliance manufactured by GE.

I have a GE Profile model JT965SK4SS micro/oven combo. It came new with my new home. A couple years into it, the paint (lining) interior of the microwave start to bubble and peel and eventually started rusting. Had SEARS come out (warranty had expired) who contacted GE and they concluded it was only cosmetic that it doesnt affect the functioning of the microwave. Well, its gotten a LOT WORSE now, bubbled peeling paint all over inside, rust, exposed metal, and the paint is falling onto food. I can NOT even wipe out the interior to clean it, it makes more stuff come off/fall down. I called GE last week, was told by 2 employees that it is NOT safe to use anymore, discontinue use. I had SEARS come again (per GE). The tech said he had NEVER seen anything like it before. He called GE to tell them its not safe, exposed metal, and its dangerous. They again said, well maam, youve gotten 8 years use of it. We wont replace it, but will offer you a discount for a new one ($2,500 out of pocket for me). The person who had offered me the discount (yes, I sent pictures, showed how bad it is) also gave me a tip regarding the unit I have now with the exposed metal and the chance of arcing (spelled? like Ark) if the unit catches on fire, make sure not to open the doors, the fire should contain itself. 2 employees told me its not safe, a 3rd gave me helpful info for if/when it catches on fire... and yet, they still wont replace the unit... and do not stand behind their own products. I plan to go to our local news station, see if they can get anywhere with this, since they wont do anything. Patiently waiting and unable to afford a new unit.

Almost 2 years ago and right from the start this dishwasher did not clean. Numerous times they had people come out and supposedly fixed it. Ive had different suggestions as to what to do. 1. Turn on the hot water tap and make sure its hot. 2. Use various different cleaning solutions on top of the dishwasher soap. 3. Use loose detergent.4. Throw at the bottom of the washer. One of the arms keeps falling down. And the last time I was told I could return it and get a deal on a better machine. I am now left with hand washing every item that goes into it unless I want gritty glasses, dishes and silverware. I bought this at Home Depot. I will never buy any products such as this from them nor will I ever buy another GE product.

RCA RMW953-White 0.9 cu. feet Microwave, 900-watts, 10-power levels, end cooking signal, glass turntable, 6-one-touch cooking menus, speed and weight defrost, cook by weight. Bubbles obscure text. I wanted a white microwave with a door handle, .9 and fairly powerful. I was glad to have found this microwave. But I dont know if the hole was there before, or my teenagers or I inadvertently put a small hole in the plastic covering over the control panel outside the microwave (NOT meant to be removed, I asked support) but now its become a larger hole as air got underneath. I cannot read the button text. I tried to cover it with scotch tape and thats not working.I searched and found out this is a common problem with GE microwaves. The buttons are very close to the bottom and therefore, countertop, so if you have a utensil or plate or something that sits near the microwave, it might nick the plastic coating. I called GE support (in India) and they said since its under warranty, I can return it. However Id have to pay shipping costs. Fortunately, I bought this at Wal-Mart (I hate to support this store but it was the only place I could find this style) and they have an excellent return policy and there is no charge for shipping. It was easy to call and request a shipping label within the generous warranty period. You might save yourself the trouble of a return or be very careful to not put a small hole in the plastic coating. Again, this is not protective coating for shipping, this is a permanent coating to protect the buttons.

Slightly more than one year, I purchased a model GLD4404RCC dishwasher about which I have made complaints in the past, concerning poor washing performance and which you chose to ignore beyond attempting to tell me how to use it. Now, this Chinese-made piece of junk has begun to give different problems. Upon completion of the wash cycle, it starts to make a lot of noise and will not shut down. I must do this manually. Guess what? It has waited less than two weeks after the purchase date to do this, meaning it is out of warranty. We have just purchased a new home and will be needing new appliances such as dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer, and a water heater. It will not be GE. I shall never purchase any more of GE products as the whole company stinks.

I bought a dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago, along with GE fridge, microwave, convection oven for my remodeled kitchen. It was less than a year old, when the dishwasher control board went. GE fixed it for no charge, as it was under warranty. They sent the part, and the repairman was great. A little over a year later, the same thing happened. It is no longer under warranty. I spoke with a supervisor about this. This dishwasher was just over 2 years old, and again, the same thing happened. They were very nice, and sent a man over, after sending the same part in the mail, and again, he was very nice, and I was called to see if everything was to my satisfaction, and it was. I was not charged. It is now a few months later, and the machine will not begin the cycle. The lights are on, blink several times, then finally go off altogether. I did the troubleshooting suggestions, including turning it off via the circuit breaker to reboot, and still nothing. I am so angry. This is a relatively new machine. I am so disgusted that I will never buy another GE appliance, and strangely, I have stock in the company. Its a small amount, but stock nonetheless. What a shame. Now, I have to spend a lot of money on a repair that I should not have to. GE charges $90 just to walk in the door. I was told the second time it would be over $200 to repair a 2 year old machine. It is not the customer support nor repairmen that I am so angry about, rather, it is the ** machine, which is not even 3 years old! The thing is, I always try my best to buy American products, even cars. Before I call in a repairman, I am going dishwasher shopping, in case I decide that it is simply not worth an over $200 repair. I will not be looking at GE.

Have owned, installed, and repaired many dishwashers throughout the years at various houses. This GE unit is by far worst dishwasher that I have ever had the displeasure to install and operate, and it replaces a Kitchen Aid unit that started a fire, see **. Specifically the GE unit had the control panel break off due to misalignment, requiring repair, the drain bulkhead fitting was poorly designed and caused a leak, requiring repair, the water solenoid valve failed in the 2nd year, and finally the door does not lock closed without significant care and attention to alignment and requires many attempts to lock closed for the start of cycle. This is the worst and I cant wait to pull it out and replace it.

GE Profile microwave Model: PEB7226SF1SS came as part of the builder installation. In the first year had issues with the microwave not starting intermittently and had to call GE support who sent in a technician who had to work on the door alignment and the switch was the problem which said to have fixed. About 2.5 year from purchase the heating seemed to be irregular which we did not take much notice and then it stopped working completely. We called GE support and did get the usual routine of the product being out of warranty and have to pay for the technician. While scheduling they realized they did not have a their own service person in the vicinity and was advised to reach out to local service person.Local technician diagnosed that the magnetron has gone bad and advised most manufacturers have 10 years warranty on the magnetron as they are supposed to last for a long time and I should reach out to GE. Having reached out to GE support again to our surprise were advised that unlike most manufacturers this product did not have 10 year magnetron warranty. Customer service, part service and customer relations kept redirecting to each other. GE does not provide an option to sell the replacement magnetron to the customer and now want their authorized center to be engaged and paid again to have the part ordered and installed. Disappointed with GE product quality, their stand on warranty compared to their competition and their service which has given me run around and no solution. I have written to them asking for solution which they havent responded yet.

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

Greetings fellow GE Appliances fans! I suppose youre all wondering why I gathered you here, so let me first say this wasnt Plan A, which was to give GE Appliances a quiet and fair opportunity to set things right. After all it is Easter and we should all be grateful for second chances or, in GEs case, fifth chances. Now about halfway through the below some of you are going to wonder why I didnt switch to another brand sooner, but Ive saved that answer for the end because, quite frankly, its the absolute best part of the story. And since most stories have a hero Ill tell you why The Home Depot, where we purchased the GE dishwasher, is the hero of this tale.On Feb 16, 2019 I purchased a new GE Dishwasher which was installed by GE. It subsequently overflowed causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the wood floors in our kitchen and our basement ceiling. GEs technician confirmed the cause was a defective factory drain pump and documented that GE was responsible for the damage. I was instructed to contact Sedgwick, their insurance claims administrator. Well have more on that later. On March 9 I received a 2nd GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect and subsequently overflowed and caused additional damage to our home. I hired an independent plumber who confirmed the installation and home plumbing were fine and that it was, in fact, a defect with the dishwasher. On March 15 I received a 3rd GE dishwasher, however it was damaged during shipment so GE was unable to install. On March 22 I received a 4th GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect, but we caught it in time to prevent another overflow. On April 3 I received a 5th (yes, 5th) dishwasher which worked once (or so we thought) but as it turned out also had the drain defect. We caught it in time to prevent another overflow. We also had an independent plumber confirm (again) there were no issues with the installation or our home plumbing. This included disconnecting the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and pointing it into a bucket. The dishwasher simply would not drain. At this point youre probably thinking how stupid it was for me to keep requesting replacements from GE and you would be correct...which brings me to my favorite part of the story. You see, even though GE refused to switch me to an entirely different GE model dishwasher line despite multiple requests, they promised to compensate us for our inconvenience which would take into account how long we went without a dishwasher (approaching two months now), how much work I missed (numerous vacation days) due to installation and repair appointments, and warned me that if I switched to another brand that their policy was to not compensate.I cant tell you how much they repeatedly emphasized the compensation aspect, so when we finally received what we thought was a working dishwasher I called to request compensation. Their offer was (drum roll...) $25.00. I literally laughed out loud (LLOLd). To be fair, after expressing some slight dissatisfaction with their offer, they raised it some but its not worthy of an additional drum roll.Fast forward to today (Apr 21, 2019) and we still have a defective GE dishwasher in our home and are still washing dishes by hand which, for a family of four, is no small daily task. GE was actually supposed to remove the dishwasher from our home yesterday, but arrived and said they couldnt because our replacement dishwasher (a Bosch...we gave up on GE) had not arrived. They already knew this before they came because: 1. We told them and; 2...wait for it...THEY were the ones supposed to deliver and install it. Weve been courteous, patient, and have done everything GE asked, but have been treated very poorly in return. I will say that most, but definitely not everyone I spoke with at GE Appliances, was polite however none of them seemed to be empowered to truly help us.As for Sedgwick (GEs insurance claims administrator): were still waiting for them to pay for the approximately $18,000 in damage to our home. Our wood floors are turning black and theres now a musty smell in our finished basement. Its been approximately 52 days and Im starting to doubt theyre ever going to pay for the damage to our familys home.Im sure some of you will say youve had GE products for years with no problems, so let me say that Im genuinely happy for you. We were, and somewhat reluctantly still are, a GE family. The last three custom homes weve built, including our current home, all had GE appliances by choice. But in the last five years weve had the original dishwasher in our brand new home break in just three years (heating element) which is what started this replacement debacle, the fan motor on our brand new refrigerator break in just four years costing us several hundred dollars in groceries and a $200 repair bill (and its starting to make the same loud noise again so may fail again soon), and a glass defect in the microwave within two years of purchase. As for the hero of this story, The Home Depot, I simply cant say enough good things about the store and their management team. Even though this was not their fault they apologized, agreed to switch us to another dishwasher brand, and paid the difference in price (even though we volunteered to pay the difference ourselves). They made it clear we were valued and said you are our customer and we are going to help you.GE must have known The Home Depot would do this, because GE is the one who told us to call and suggested The Home Depot might do something for us...something GE apparently wasnt willing to do themselves. For now it seems that GE Appliances not only mistreated our family, but The Home Depot as well. Im not suggesting that you should or should not buy GE appliances, but IF you do and IF its defective and IF it damages your home then buckle up. It may be a long, painful, and stressful ride with no end in sight.

I have an above the range GE microwave oven, model no. JVM1750M1CC. It has been in service for about 9 years. About 6 months ago it stopped working with an F3 code. The code claims the control panel needs to be replaced. I found that the price of the control panel was over $100 and the service call was at least $100. A little shopping around and I found I can purchase a new oven for about the same price. As the control panel is located just above the largest burner where water is usually heated to a boil, it receives a lot of steam. I visited a local church second hand store and purchased a countertop microwave and used it while I found a good solution. I decided to let it dry out for a few days and lo and behold it worked again. Unfortunately it only worked for a few hours, sometimes a full day and then I needed to let it dry out some more. I purchased an extension cord with an on/off switch and hooked it up. Now I can stop the electricity without having to climb up on a chair to pull the plug. Once I was set up with the easy on/off switch I could easily reset it. After about a week of resetting, it got the message. It has been working properly for over two weeks now with no failures.

I had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when I purchased my home. The dishwasher had a fire in the wiring harness for the energy save drying switch. The dishwasher was under warranty and was repaired by GE without issue, and they told me it was safe. About 2 years later, GE recalled the dishwasher for having started numerous fires throughout the country. As part of the recall program, GE offered incentives towards the purchase of a new dishwasher; however, unless you purchased another GE dishwasher, you received virtually nothing. I purchased the top of the line GE Triton performance plus dishwasher and had it professionally installed, and given my previous dishwashers history, I purchased an extended warranty from GE. This new allegedly top of the line dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen, causing several thousand dollars in damage to the floor / sub floor and ceiling below. GE was contacted, came out, and made a repair; and my damage claim was paid by GEs insurance carrier Electric insurance. Once again, 2 years later, this same dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen and downstairs. I contacted GE and found that my warranty had been sold by GE to an outside company named Assurant without my knowledge. They were unable to provide me with a service appointment for about 2 weeks and advised me not to touch anything until the damage was documented by a GE technician or my damage claim would be denied. I contacted GE customer service and explained the circumstances and that the water damage would need to be mitigated in order to prevent additional damage to my home. GE scheduled a sooner appointment, but they failed to show up. I called GE again; they rescheduled for the following day and failed to show again. GE was re-contacted, and they scheduled a third appointment with A&E, a GE affiliated outside repair service. This time, the technician arrived but was unable to do anything unless I made a cash payment to him, as GE failed to include my extended warranty information when they booked my appointment. I re-contacted GE, and the next available appointment date was more than two weeks away. I was concerned that the water damage would cause mold and create an electrical hazard due to wet wiring, and the water caused the laminate floor and sub floor in my kitchen and downstairs den to warp and buckle. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance in order to get this damage addressed. GE has been unable to get anyone to my home to address the situation. In total, I have spent about 16 hours on the telephone remaining on hold an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours for each call, only to be told there was nothing they could do or that no supervisor was available or authorized to do anything. Assurant advised me they would look into it and get back to me, but I have yet to receive a return call. GE corporate headquarters was contacted, and they were polite but unable to accomplish anything either. I am removing the appliance myself and having it replaced at my own expense with any brand other than GE. I would strongly urge anyone making an appliance purchase to choose another brand; GEs appliances, customer service, and repair service are all unreliable and well below standards based on the hundreds of dollars we spend on appliances. My decision to purchase a GE dishwasher has resulted in damage to my home in excess of $10,000.00 and an unbelievable amount of frustration and aggravation waiting for repair personnel that dont show and waiting on hold to speak to people who can do nothing for you. If I performed this badly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago. Learn from my situation and dont buy GE!

July 4th, 2010 - GE Profile Dishwasher, Model: PDW9200N00BB, Dishwasher had been humming after cycle was over for a little while, this night I walk into the kitchen late and find it full of smoke. Circuit board has a hole burned though it and wiring harness is melted. Never tripped any safety, could close the door and it would come right back on, smoke and all. This model was not on the recall list but I called GE anyway. After describing the fire they send someone out, then they send a new dishwasher out and install it. I assume they wanted the old one to look over or just to get rid of it. New washer installed the end of July 2010, new model number PDWT500R10BB. Today is 2012-02-02 and the new machine would not stop at end of cycle (Got down to 1 minute and stay there for at least 20 minutes before we turned it off). This machine is now making the continuous hum after the cycle stops that the old one did before it caught on fire.Called GE, they said they could maybe go half on parts and service until they checked where I was located. (Wichita, KS. Area population 500,000+) They said that they didnt send factory techs to my area and I would need to contact a local repair service. I pointed out that they had a factory guy for when my machine was on fire and they said it was just a malfunction now, so they could not. No half on the price for repair either at this point. This is a $1100 to $1200 dishwasher with, as near as I can tell from complaints online, a history of going up in flames. I understand things break etc, but when you continue to put out products like this and then refuse to remedy the problem, I and anyone who will listened to me will never own anything GE again.

GE Microwave Model JES1139BLO3, Serial # VS904116B - The above model was purchased at Lowe’s in Ventura, CA about a year and a half ago. In that time, the white coating on the inside of the microwave has been deteriorating, beginning with the area under the turntable and extending out to the bottom and sides of the unit. One day after the new GE dishwasher was installed, I came home to find water raining down into my basement. My kitchen floor was destroyed. The installers came out a week later to look at it. They determined it was a faulty unit. They ordered another one. I started an insurance claim with GE. They sent a technician to look at it. 2 1/2 weeks after it was installed, the technician showed up. Surprise, it was leaking anymore (The water had been shut off for 2 weeks). Several days later the replacement unit arrived and was installed. Two days later, this one started dripping. I called to have it removed. The installation crew was scheduled to come back on Saturday to remove the dishwasher and get it out of my house. On Thursday, this unit started pouring water out onto my floor. The occasional drip had become a steady stream of water. More than a month after buying this hunk of junk, it was finally removed. Ive ordered a different brand of dishwasher. Ive hired a contractor to come and replace my floor. GE denies any responsibility. I will be starting a lawsuit against them. I cant say enough horrible things about dealing with GE.

We remodeled our kitchen three years ago and purchased three GE cafe products: the dishwasher, microwave, and stove. The stove has been wonderful, no problems. The microwave was defective when we purchased but was easily repaired by the install of a new circuit board (I believe that is what it was called). Anyhow, no problems since. The dishwasher has been a big disappointment (it too needed a new circuit board) in regards to its performance. Dishes come out looking horrible as if there is still soap on them! I tried different types of soaps, the liquid, tabs, and rinse aids. Nothing seemed to work! I finally gave up on the liquid and my husband cleaned out the liquid dispenser completely and I only used the tabs as the results seemed to be a bit better. I regretted trashing our 15+ year old dishwasher that worked wonderfully! I am giving my review three stars because my coworker suggested I try a product called Lemi Shine (you can purchase at Target). I was not hopeful but it was the answer to my dishwasher prayers! It is incredible and I have used it for a few months now and have no complaints about my dishwasher’s performance. I use only the tab dispenser (Finish Powerball) and then I sprinkle Lemi Shine around the tab and my dishes are clean with NO residue! As an added bonus, the inside of the dishwasher is spic and span too! I guess I didnt notice how filmy and cloudy it had become. Try Lemi Shine and I hope it works for all of you too!

My GE Dishwasher is disintegrating. Its three years old and we didnt live here for a year of that time. The door where all the electronics just fell apart. I bought the most expensive GE Dishwasher I could find at that time because we wanted one that was quiet due to the way our house is laid out. We were able to put the door together again but the strip across the top never fit again so we taped it on. Model PDT750SSF1SS. The controls wont work.
