While heating a bowl of butter, my microwave arced. Microwave had smoke and electric fire smell. I have contacted GE. They said it was a rare issue. From the reviews on this site, I do not believe that this is a rare issue. They offered a 25 dollar coupon to buy another one. I do not believe I would do that. GE has had microwave recalls in the past due to fire hazard. I have registered a concern with the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

If I could give it less than a star, I would. We bought the GE model JEB18600M2WW as a wall insert microwave earlier to replace a 1999 GE of similar version that went out earlier this year. We use it 2-3 times daily, 30 seconds here, 2 minutes there. Today, I went to warm up the babys bottle, and it made a weird sound and went dead. Im sure its the same thing everyone else is complaining about. I wont be buying another GE microwave again.

My microwave is a GE, model JE 1040 made in 1998, which they probably dont make anymore. I use it several times a week, mostly to heat up leftovers and water. Also pre-packaged microwavable meals, such as breakfasts and biscuits. I have cooked different kinds of meat and other items in it many times and am completely satisfied with it. I would be lost without it.

GE Model JVM1540LM5CS - Fire inside microwave while making popcorn. Top center piece, inside microwave, caught on fire. Was able to quickly contain the fire to the circular plastic cover which I removed. Called GE customer relations for service. The service technician that came to repair our microwave said he had just come from a customer with the same problem. Sounds like GE should take a close look at the plastic piece that catches fire and see about replacing it with one that wont burn.

We moved into a new home in June of 2011 with the appliances already included. Ours came equipped with a GE, over-the-range microwave, model JVM1540DP1WW, manufactured in Malaysia, in April of 2010. Within several months, the revolving platter began to make a bumping noise while turning and then it eventually quit turning altogether. Five service calls later, we had the platter motor replaced, circuit board and four fan motors (apparently the platter has voltage supplied from that fan to make it run) and it still didnt work.It was taken back to the shop and eventually the problem was traced to a loose wire on a terminal connector. After a month of operation, it is again beginning to make the bumping noise while the platter turns. To top it off, Consumer Reports (the March issue) deals with problematic microwaves, especially the GE model and the unexpected fires that can occur. In addition, they can be susceptible to (not always however and only on certain models) wireless transmissions which could potentially cause them to start on their own. I know for a fact that it knocks off my XM Satellite Radio when it is running. Bottom line...its history and will be replaced with a check rated appliance before I too have a major problem.

I bough a GE microwave oven, model JVM1740SM1SS, less than 2 years ago. The keypad says that it is shorted out and needs service. It turns on randomly. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it will either say, service needed, keypad shorted out or press clock.GE has so many complaints about there microwaves, some that are very serious. They still claim that there are no problems with them. They have to know there are problems, but do not want to issue a recall and take a financial lose. Its only a matter of time, before something so serious happens that it will be a bigger financial lose than a recall.

No abrasive cleaning products have been used and the oven burner under the handle is used infrequently at very lower temperatures. One year later its peeling AGAIN. The dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded our home. The dishwasher continued to run even with the door open and the display showing “leak detected”. We had started it before we left the house and it had been running for about 20 minutes when we left. When we came home hours later, hot water was still being produced by the dishwasher and had flooded our kitchen and basement. We could not stop the dishwasher with buttons at that point and had turn off electrical and water supply to it. The absolute worst part is they will not replace or refund it even though it’s less than six months old. They are only offering to service it and expect me to continue using it.

A few years ago, I purchased a brand new GE microwave oven. A week ago the microwave oven stopped working. I contacted an Appliance Repair company for repair. When the tech came & disassembled the microwave oven, he discovered pliers inside the oven. We took pictures of it (BTW, it wasnt the cause of the problem). I contacted GE to alert them of this & they told me that the robots that assembled the microwave oven probably dropped it in there. Then they said they will send a tech to my residence to investigate. I told them that the pliers was removed & the microwave oven is fixed & assembled. Nonetheless they sent a tech anyway. I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing any GE products. They proved their products are a safety hazard & they dont care about the consumer nor their safety. All they care about is taking your $$$.

We purchased a GE over-the-range microwave oven last November 2010 and it was installed in February 2011 when our addition was finished. Last week, it decided to stop responding to instructions. When the door is closed, it just continues to run--the turntable turns, the light stays on and the fan keeps running. It will respond to instructions, but when we want to shut it off if the door is shut, we have to unplug it--which is a real pain because it is over the range. We have an old microwave that was my wifes parents and it still works fine even though it is about 20 years old. The new one stops working in a little more than a year which is not acceptable. We contacted GE and were told that we would have to pay over $100.00 to get the thing fixed. I dont think so. We will not purchase anything GE again.

Purchased new from Lowes. Dishwasher leaked starting less than a month after purchase. I have had it serviced 3 times since purchase and have another appointment scheduled. (It takes 2-4 weeks to get a tech out to your house). Currently they say he is going to come by on Tues and check to see which part to order next and then they will come back and work on the dishwasher when the part comes in. (Of course the dishwasher is leaking as I wait). They give a 8-5 service window so I will just have to sit here and wait on him to come by and decide what to order. This is pathetic. When you buy a new GE appliance you need to be aware that they literally do not have any program for replacing flawed appliances.

Our $599 GE dishwasher of 3 years is literally falling apart. We have a GE Slate Colored Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher (GDT580SMFES) and over the past two weeks, the water stopped heating and 2 seals in the dishwasher started disintegrating. If you touch the seals (the main gasket at the bottom of the dishwasher and the main seal that keeps water from leaking outside of the dishwasher), parts of the seals come off on your fingers. We bought our dishwasher through Lowes with the extended protection plan and were having a hell of a time getting it fixed... Every time we call to make an appointment, its a minimum of 15 minutes on hold and it takes FOREVER for the new part to arrive/get the new part installed (almost 3 weeks now). So disappointed in our appliance and in Lowes for selling us such a lousy extended warranty. Never again!

I remodeled my house 5 years ago and went with the GE Profile appliances in my kitchen. Last week I had run the dish washer cycle and noticed the soap had not dissolved and the dishes didnt seem to be clean so I ran the cycle again. I started it at about 8 pm and we went to bed not thinking any more about it. About 1 am I awoke to a horrible plastic burning smell. I checked through the whole house and could not find where it was coming from until I entered the kitchen. As I entered the room my eyes started streaming from the burn. I opened the dishwasher and smoke starting bellowing out of it. Not just smoke but a toxic smoke filled the room. The inside of the dishwasher was so hot and everything plastic inside was melted. The bottom drawer and parts of the dishwasher were also melted. The silverware tray full of silverware was all melted together. This all occurred in a matter of 5 hours. Had I not woke up when I did, who knows if we would have woke up.The house was full of toxic smoke that did not trigger the smoke detectors. We just went ahead and purchased a new dishwasher and had it installed yesterday. This morning my husband decided to do a little research on this product and found there was a recall last year. I contacted GE and found that our model was not part of the recall because it has a stainless steel interior, only the plastic interiors are part of the recall. I also found out that had we called them and had them send out a certified GE technician look at it, they would replace it. Too late it has already been replaced and sent to the recycle center. I did take pictures and have record of the model and serial number which doesnt matter. I just want to get it out there that this product is also dangerous and a fire hazard. This product could have easily caused a fire in my home. I also wish I would have done more research before we replaced it. Our new dishwasher is a GE Profile...

Have owned, installed, and repaired many dishwashers throughout the years at various houses. This GE unit is by far worst dishwasher that I have ever had the displeasure to install and operate, and it replaces a Kitchen Aid unit that started a fire, see **. Specifically the GE unit had the control panel break off due to misalignment, requiring repair, the drain bulkhead fitting was poorly designed and caused a leak, requiring repair, the water solenoid valve failed in the 2nd year, and finally the door does not lock closed without significant care and attention to alignment and requires many attempts to lock closed for the start of cycle. This is the worst and I cant wait to pull it out and replace it.

We bought a microwave oven (CVM1790SS2SS, ZA301193K) for our new house some 4.5 yers ago. The flimsy, but very shiny, metal cover on the door handle split and the resulting sharp, but hidden, edge cut my finger. We covered it up with scotch tape, and ordered a replacement for the handle. We paid GE $102 (other folk sell it for $76, as we later discovered). There were no useable installation instructions. Our extremely competent handyman could not figure out how to do it and called GE for help at 800 636-2005. He was rudely dismissed and was told to look for instructions on Youtube! He spent 2 hours to install the replacement part. The screws that came with it, were not quite right. Ill never buy another GE appliance in my life. The Item was ordered by Ellen ** (It was shipped on 1/17/2017).

We moved into our home just over a year ago. We replaced all of the kitchen appliances; refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher with GE slate gray appliances. This was in November, 2014. On New Years eve (2016), the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. I removed the kick panel and saw water pouring from the pump. After the holiday, we finally got in touch with the appliance repair shop who handles GE warranty work in our area. They contacted GE on our behalf to see if GE would stand behind a product that was just over 1 month out of warranty. Bear in mind, this wasnt something simple like an indicator light burning out, this failure was catastrophic. GE basically told them (and us) to pound sand. We are a 2 person family. The dishwasher was used maybe twice a week during the year weve owned it. Amazing quality! Now Im looking forward to watching the rest of this stuff fall apart. It looks like the life span of the product and the warranty period are the same. How handy for GE. They must not have to depend on repeat business or take these negative reviews seriously.

This unit was purchased at Lowes on 11/22/16 and installed by our plumber shortly thereafter. Its not even 6 months old! It was poor at drying at first and then stopped drying altogether about a month ago. The GE Customer Service has sent a repairman here on 4 occasions in the past few weeks, sent faulty parts, including an element and a board (Im guessing that they mean a motherboard) but it is still swimming in water. Ive asked them to replace the dishwasher, to which they have refused. Yes we are irate, and rightly so. Whatever happened to quality manufacturing and decent customer service? I will never buy another GE product again. There should be lemon laws for appliances. Now we are being informed that the parts are back ordered until September, but that they might be able to get them from California on or about the 25th. Their apologies mean nothing when they do not back it up by amending the situation in an appropriate manner. By the way it takes 256 minutes for a full cycle. The plus side is that it is very quiet, but Im not sure how energy efficient a dishwasher can be that runs that blasted long. It doesnt clean very well either. If considering the dishwasher or another appliance, stay away from GE Is our recommendation.

Ive had this dishwasher for about 3 1/2 years now, and never have I been so dissatisfied with a product. I gave a review then, was contacted by a GE rep, followed their guidelines, even had a GE rep come out and review the problems. We changed our hot water temp, when we did dishes (not during clothes washing), checked to make sure the blades are not hindered, changed soap to Finish Gel (works best), added rinse aid. There is just not enough water to rinse off the dishes. Period. I do not add more heat/dry, and use Sanitize and Steam 99% of the time. What happens is the food sticks to the dishes and melds into them, causing permanent discoloration. This is no pot scrubber. It does no scrubbing! I have to wash my pots every time after I clean them in the dishwasher even if I pre-scrub them clean before washing! Sometimes the food from other dishes or the soap dumps onto the clean pot and makes it dirty! There should be a lawsuit against this company for this product. Its horrible! BUYER BEWARE! This rating should really be a 0 (zero)! Sorry I am not submitting proof of purchase from that time. We remodeled our kitchen in 2012.

I bought a brand new house and it came with the set of GE profile appliances in 10/2009. In November of this year, it came on for one minute on its own and then popped and indicated a circuit board failure. The inside of the microwave was extremely hot and there was obviously an electrical short. This could have burned down my house! My fiance replaced the circuit board at a cost of $125. I negotiated from the service department that supplied all my builders appliances. This week it happened again. This time, there was a cup of coffee in the microwave and it boiled in the minute before the microwave fried itself! I cant believe that GE still has this product on the market! My husband and I enjoyed our 1980s White GE Microwave and Stove/oven. But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

I bought GE OTR microwave in December. It is exactly one month old now. My model no. is: 9195SVC. It looks good, but I find the fan very noisy, even when it is at low. My range hood which we had in the kitchen prior to this microwave was very quiet at low and only a bit noisy at high. I do not know if the noise is because I have steel exhaust pipes vented out. Rest is O.K. but given that others have reported problems in 1-2 months, I am still nervous.I bought this product at Sears with an extended warranty, which is some relief. However, when I was shopping for this at Home Depot, the salesperson told me these microwaves last only 4-5 years. One good thing about Sears extended warranty is that if it is not used over the five years, they refund the warranty payment (with taxes) in the form of a gift card and they were also cheaper than Home Depot.

We have a 2017 GE profile built on microwave. The microwave started shooting fire inside the microwave a year ago. GE fixed it. Last week the microwave started shootings fire inside the microwave again. This time it was much worse. The GE technician told me it was not fixable. I called GE customer relations and was told too bad because it’s not under warranty anymore. They offered a minimal discount on a new similar model. The attitudes of the customer care representative and supervisor took me by surprise. They were curt and told me, Guess you should have gotten the extended warranty. When it comes time to replace my kitchen there will not be any GE products in it. GE does not stand behind their products. The tech told me there are issues with the profile microwave and he felt they would replace it. They did not replace it and were rude. I have been a loyal GE customer. Not anymore.

Ive owned my GE Profile dishwasher for 6 years. Two months ago the pump had to be replaced and this is quite an expensive item. Then the other day I went to open the dishwasher and the doors spring gave away, hence slamming to the floor and crushing my big toe. The repairman said it was not the spring that broke but the link that holds the spring in place. The spring is actually quite strong but the link is just a flimsy piece of plastic. We are both anxious to see if the replacement link he ordered has been made stronger and are replacing both just to be sure it doesnt happen again. Although my toe isnt broken, it is extremely bruised and painful so I am going to be ever cautious of opening the dishwasher again.

We purchased a complete kitchen of Profile appliances. Everything is fine except dishwasher! The first one didnt clean food and left scum on everything... The company sent service several times replacing many parts.... finally gave us a new one... It still doesnt clean. It will not remove peanut butter, avocado, and my teacups are perpetually stained dark brown. My old dishwasher, Kenmore, left my dishes sparkling... no matter what was on them, plus I didnt have to run my kitchen sink to get hot water first! I will not use GE in my next house which will be built in about 3-4 years.

After my previous GE Microwave had paint peeling, I was offered a new one at a discounted price. The new one will not make popcorn. It does heat water, but a small bag of popcorn takes 4-1/2 minutes for 1/2 bag. I called and they sent a repairman. He made a bag of popcorn, told us to use a different setting. Tried that and it still didnt work. Then he heated a half cup of water and declared it works fine. It does heat. It just wont make popcorn. He said they changed the design due to people starting fires making microwave popcorn, but that could just be a easy lie. Said There is nothing we can do about it. Just dont make popcorn, eat chips instead. What???

The GE microwave model CJES1290Ml01 does not get used much, maybe 15 minutes per week. I have not even used convection oven or broiler part, so we could say very gently used. Sparks and grinding noise out of the magnetron tube area started recently and there is no metal in the microwave. It arcs like there is metal. There are not enough miles on this equipment to need replacement, but it is too expensive to fix. Im not happy with Walmart GE product. Did they cheap it up?

Just waiting for the microwave to stop working. Their appliance are terrible, built with poor quality and all are lemons. Im calling tomorrow to get my dishwasher replaced after 6 repairs in a year. I would not recommend to anyone to purchase GE appliance, worst ever. Our GE microwave just stopped working after 3 or 4 years. It was manufactured 4 years ago, but I am not exactly sure when we purchased and installed it... It may have sat on the shelf for a year. It is not the touch panel, the lights, timer, clock... They all work. In fact, I can put in a time to cook and push START and the timer will start counting down as if the microwave is cooking, but it is totally silent, no turntable, no noise, no nothing. The new replacement model number is the JVM6175 but I am scared to buy it, as I am so disappointed in GE. All the washers, dryers, microwaves, and refrigerators we have bought over the last 30 years have only lasted 3 to 7 years. The only appliance by GE we have purchased that seems to be still working is the dishwasher. We only used this microwave to heat up coffee or some leftovers. It is not being used to cook big meals or anything like that. GE has just gone downhill, it appears. I think I will just give up on them totally.

Bought all new General Electric Appliances in 2002. Dishwasher, Washing Machine, and Dryer replaced after 6 years. Handle on Advantium Microwave replaced twice at the cost of $50 for handle made of plastic? Today our house smelled like burning plastic which upon inspecting dishwasher, found the heating element was COOKING everything in dishwasher. Got so hot that is melted the silverware bin and anything plastic in dishwasher. Glad we were home to unplug unit which we could not reset the controller on door of unit. Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of this incident and is VERY common complaint with this Manufacturer. I have been on hold for 30 minutes with GE consumer relations phone number 1-800-386-1215. Was told by automatic system wait time was going to be 5 minutes. We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. On the new Profile dishwasher, the water inlet valve stuck open and flooded our home. Tech said we may as well have had a hose on full blast all night. Word to the wise, do not turn your dishwasher on and go to bed or leave the house! 7 1/2 hours later we woke to a completely flooded downstairs. When we were researching whether or not there were other complaints on that model dishwasher, we noticed there had been a recall for fire hazard ON THE NEW DISHWASHER! Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. We chose a Bosch for our new dishwasher.

GE brags about employing its own service technicians yet, when I called to schedule an appointment to fix our Advantium 120 microwave (3 years old), they told me that unless I provided proof of purchase to the technician, he would charge me even for parts under warranty such as the magnetron tube. This in spite of the fact that they have all the purchase information at their fingertips, as I reported when we registered our purchase. They even told me our date of purchase, had our address, email address, etc. They dismissed my suggestion that an email from them to me that I could show the technician should suffice. After 3 years and severe family health issues, I have sadly misplaced the proof of purchase, not realizing that registering the appliance for warranty provided no real benefit; not even proof that I didnt steal the thing. I am saddened that a company of the former stature of GE would stoop so low to avoid a legitimate warranty repair.

Unit is only 7 years old and not greatly used (only two adults who dont use it much)… Purchased as part of package including GE refrigerator, range and dishwasher (already got rid of refrigerator, as parts kept breaking and unit had other chronic problems). I turned the microwave on to make popcorn - it immediately made a terrible noise and filled with smoke with an electrical smell. Unplugged the unit and contacted GE Repair. When I described what happened, I was transferred immediately to their safety unit because of the nature of the problem. A GE technician arrived today and almost immediately diagnosed the problem: a metal component that directs the waves of the microwave generation tube had burned out, and by federal regulation, he claimed, cannot be repaired - the whole appliance must be trashed and replaced. Once again, I have experienced GEs poorly engineered products that appear to be designed to fail in a relatively short time. Can you spell planned obsolescence? We had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when the house we live in was built and it was one of the ones which were recalled as a fire hazard. We didnt really have any issues with it though, other than it was a bit noisy. With the credit offered, we decided to upgrade to a high end Profile model. The sound proofing is impressive and it was actually hard to tell the unit was on, but that is the only thing you can say that is good about the machine. As a dishwasher, it fails miserably and often items come out dirtier than when they went in. OK, weve struggled on with that for some time now but today, a nasty burnt plastic smell brought us both to the kitchen to investigate. Sure enough, the replacement for the fire hazard was the culprit. Obviously, it will need some serious repairs before it is safe to use once more. Looking through this and other sites, it seems this problem is rife and GE is reluctant to deal with the issues. Well I think that will be our last GE appliance. Thank you very much and rather than throw good money after bad, we will put the repair costs towards another machine ABGE.

July 4th, 2010 - GE Profile Dishwasher, Model: PDW9200N00BB, Dishwasher had been humming after cycle was over for a little while, this night I walk into the kitchen late and find it full of smoke. Circuit board has a hole burned though it and wiring harness is melted. Never tripped any safety, could close the door and it would come right back on, smoke and all. This model was not on the recall list but I called GE anyway. After describing the fire they send someone out, then they send a new dishwasher out and install it. I assume they wanted the old one to look over or just to get rid of it. New washer installed the end of July 2010, new model number PDWT500R10BB. Today is 2012-02-02 and the new machine would not stop at end of cycle (Got down to 1 minute and stay there for at least 20 minutes before we turned it off). This machine is now making the continuous hum after the cycle stops that the old one did before it caught on fire.Called GE, they said they could maybe go half on parts and service until they checked where I was located. (Wichita, KS. Area population 500,000+) They said that they didnt send factory techs to my area and I would need to contact a local repair service. I pointed out that they had a factory guy for when my machine was on fire and they said it was just a malfunction now, so they could not. No half on the price for repair either at this point. This is a $1100 to $1200 dishwasher with, as near as I can tell from complaints online, a history of going up in flames. I understand things break etc, but when you continue to put out products like this and then refuse to remedy the problem, I and anyone who will listened to me will never own anything GE again.

I purchased my new home equipped with all new G.E. Profile stainless appliances. Three years after that, our microwave (model number JE2160SFS01) had the magnetron go bad - no problem. I called G.E. and had a tech come out and replace it ($79.95). Great! 4 years later, it goes out again. But it’s still covered under warranty (cool). I call them, set up appointment, and ask what the charges will be - $79.95 home service fee. Fantastic! I schedule the appointment, and three days later, a technician comes to my home. I tell him it’s the magnetron, and he turns on the microwave for a second. He says yup and types his diagnosis into his laptop and prints out his estimate. He hands it to me, and it says “Total amount $ 270.10”! On a covered part!I asked him if he was joking, because the M.S.R.P. for that model, which I got from G.E., is... wait for it... $269.00 for the whole microwave oven! I threw the tech out and called their consumer advocate line (which took over an hour to talk to a human) and asked who sets their pricing for repairs, and was told their senior technicians set the labor charges! It’s a twenty-minute job! $190.00 for twenty minutes? So the tech left with $79.95 for doing absolutely nothing! Great job General Electric! I will never buy another product from you again! By the way, the magnetron they say is priced at $142.30 is available online for $97.50! It takes twenty minutes to replace, and a monkey can do it!

The first several months it did great and we loved it. The last two months we have noticed the dishwasher not drying our dishes. We have talked with the store several times to make sure we are doing all the right things. We are using sanitary level, power dry, Rinse Aid. We have had two technicians out and according to their computer it does not detect anything wrong. Interesting. The temperatures of the water quoted by the two were 60 degrees different. So what else is different? We received a call from supposed management of customer services saying, since the technicians could not find anything wrong, that we will have to live with whatever is going on. They will do nothing more.BUYER BEWARE! The GE brand used to be good, but not anymore. At least not in dishwashers. Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

It works well. We like this newer GE Profile with many preset buttons such as for different times and food types, and defrost. The last GE Profile MW we got had a knob that got loose right away and hard to use, like a dial-up AOL, so this upgraded model is much more convenient. I like the bigger plate size, and that the turntable can be turned off if we put a rectangular casserole dish in there.

I have many other things to do other than to voice my extreme and total displeasure with your company. GE - Huge Company, Small Customer Service. We purchased a GE microwave oven from ABT electronics in about August, 2013. In October, 2014 we had issues with the fan remaining on while the door was closed. Called GE. They said the unit was out of warranty by about 2 months. We felt that was a short period of time and that we called as soon as the issue became chronic.Had three service calls where the techs tried to fix a simple problem. First tech walked through our living room with dirty boots. Didnt fix the problem. Messed up our carpet. Bad attitude. Second call, two techs couldnt fix the problem. Said it was a door issue and they made some superficial adjustments. Problem not fixed. Third call, two more techs. Same result. In the meantime I tried to convince GE that I didnt want another service call. I wanted a new unit. No luck. I was offered a discount to purchase a new unit for around $300 or so. Im sure they spent more money on service calls than a new unit would have cost in terms of dollars and the reputation of one of the worlds biggest companies. Now, the fan for the unit stays on almost all the time after the cooking is done. Is this the best GE can do? If so, thats pretty sad. Tried to reach someone in sales who would get it. No such luck. DONT BUY GE AND IF YOU HAVE ISSUES DONT RELY ON A FACELESS, CLUELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HELP IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY.

GE Profile Microwave wall oven combo model PT970SOM1SS - We have a few years old unit very gently used. However, we now have the paint peeling and flaking from the top and back interior wall of the microwave. Some spots have bare metal exposed. Contacted GE and they told me there was no fix for it other than replacing the device. Now they cannot replace the Microwave alone. The whole unit has to be replaced at a cost of ~ $2800.00. This is ridiculous. There should be a recall as there are several other complaints about similar issues.

We moved into our new manufactured home in May of 2013. That is the month our above range built-in GE microwave was installed. In October of 2013, one of my sons heated a frozen chicken cordon bleu serving for 3 minutes, 45 seconds, according to packaging directions. He said that some of the inside of his food was cool, so my other son put in his serving for four minutes, zero seconds. All of the packaging was removed and each serving was placed on a separate Corelle plate and covered with Glad microwave-safe plastic wrap. While heating the second serving, the microwave started on fire. Fortunately, my son extinguished the fire before it spread. The food did not combust. The fire seems to have started from the ceiling behind the fan. The entire inside of our microwave is clean except for the soot that billowed out from the center of the ceiling. When the service tech came, he scrubbed the soot off of the ceiling with some paper napkins (which he left inside of the unit) and said that the microwave was a total loss. He also said the fire was caused by misuse, because plastic wrap is not meant to be used in the microwave, therefore even though the fire happened within a year of purchase and installation, our warranty was void. I asked GE to get a second opinion and they agreed to send a third party servicer (A&E) who stood me up three times! I finally got to schedule a GE tech to come at the end of December and they sent the same guy who said the fire was our fault! He told me that he never said plastic wrap is not meant for the microwave, but that we are being dishonest because fires only start when the food is left in the microwave for too long. He accidentally let it slip that he is seeing the same problem with GE microwaves in a lot of new construction for student housing in Tallahassee. (We live 20 minutes south of there.) He attempted to recover GEs reputation afterward by saying that of course it was the students faults, too, for misusing the microwave units. Anyway, GE has graciously offered to sell us a new microwave at slight discount. Haha, no thank you!

Have a GE dishwasher put into operation June 2016 (new home). In Oct 2016 we noticed a leak and a serviceman came out and identified a loose soap dispenser - tightened it. Next time we used it, leaked as before. Same serviceman came again, this time replaced both the main seal & spinning water distribution wand assembly. Again, the unit leaked and on Dec 14th same serviceman replaced the soap dispenser. Before he got too far down the road, we called as the unit again leaked. He blamed it on excessive soap suds - which he removed manually. Following his departure, we again experienced a leak. Same serviceman returned on Dec 15th. After review, he advised us the DW would be replaced and we should get a call within 48 hrs to arrange. On Dec 17th (still no followup from GE) the DW leaked again - we video this time. On Dec 19th called customer relations and after much discussion it was apparent GE has NO CLUE what the heck they are doing. ONE MORE repair trip was scheduled - this time they would replace the inside and outside panel! We are fortunate to be retired otherwise this repair process would have cost us about $2000 so far! How idiotic is GE?? How much have they spent to avoid replacing this unit? Believe me this is the LAST GE appliance we buy from them. Dont know how they stay in business. We are awaiting the panel repair guy as of this writing. Will update once this service has been completed.

I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating
I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating and recommendation of the salesman. Worst dishwasher I have ever had by far (in 27 years)! Salesman didnt know it doesnt have a water heater. It worked so poorly I had a company repairman to look at the dishwasher within a week of delivery. He recommended we run the sink water until boiling before turning it on, always use normal power, steam and boost settings. The cutlery is still often dirty - you have to scrub all food off the cutlery and rinse until clean before putting it into the dishwasher. A year later, the dishwasher is not nearly as quiet and a cycle takes 4 hours. Because of the design, this machine loads quite a bit less than my old dishwasher. Overall, I am sure this dishwasher uses way more energy and I use more cycles per week. I wouldnt take this dishwasher if they were giving them away for free!

Not a very good job at cleaning, plus takes over two hours to run. It has a steam function, to help clean grease off of dishes, and should be used for simple cleaning too. Although the instructions state it can hold settings of 8, we have never been able to use more than 4 before it is packed. The utensil holders are almost useless. It has nice lighting for controls and a clean front. The installations instructions are not very good. They also did not include an elbow to connect to the water supply, which the hardware store manager said is standard connection, so GE just wanted to save $4.00 and piss off the customers instead.

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. She has a neighbor with the same problem. I researched online and learned quite a bit about this machine. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Im now demanding that GE return $150 service fee that I paid before I found out that its a defective machine. And this machine has to be replaced with a model that allows cooking with vents on. If GE does not do the right thing, I will make it a life goal that no one buy their products. Mark my words. Im this angry because I called customer service this week and was told that theyll give me a new panel but I have to pay for the labor and no refund for the $150 and no replacement microwave. This was insulting. Shame on GE.

I purchased 5 new GE Appliances delivered June 1, 2014. Within the first 2 weeks, the dishwasher wouldnt drain and had the repairman out to fix it. Within the next 2 weeks, the door wouldnt stay closed and had the repairman come. He took the rubber off around the door so that the door would close and said he was not familiar with GE dishwashers and would go to showroom and look at it and come back. I said as long as I dont have a flood. He assured me that the water only fills up so far and would not leak. Within the next 2 weeks, I was downstairs and heard water running and it was pouring through the ceiling. I ran upstairs and very hot water was all over my kitchen and pouring through the floor into the basement. The unit malfunctioned and wouldnt shut off. I had to shut off the water to the DW and run to the electrical panel to shut off power. I then had to call insurance to get a restoration company to dry out and fix my house. I phoned Arkona Appliances to let them know and they gave me a toll free number to call for GE. The toll free number when you call you are on hold for at least an hour to talk to a receptionist which puts you on to someones voicemail. I was on hold for one hour the first time and one hour and eleven minutes the second time and begged to get a direct line for future calls. Reluctantly, the receptionist gave it to me. The technician had to come out and assess the dishwasher and said I needed a new dishwasher and sent the report in Friday, August 1. Because of the long weekend, I waited to call until Wednesday and they said they didnt receive the report. She asked me whether it was emailed or faxed - how would I know. Then she found the report and said I would get a new dishwasher Wednesday, Aug 13 or the 20th. Still havent heard anything. If received next week, it will have been 5 weeks from the time of the flood I have been washing dishes by hand. Awful customer service from retailer as well as GE. Problems dont go away they just get worse. Initially upset - NOW I AM FURIOUS!!!
