Model JVM1740DP1BB - GE Microwave - complaining since November 2014. Great microwave UNTIL the inside ceiling bubbled and began to flake off in various locations. A service tech that visited our home advised us to call GE and advise them of a potentially hazardous situation. The GE rep offered to sell us a new microwave but only stated that we were out of warranty, although this is clearly a manufacturers defect! She proceeded to tell us the lining was perfectly safe but maybe we shouldnt operate it. I have written GE management to see if they will assist in replacing the defective unit; GE is the reason we purchased it to begin with (but it may be the reason never to purchase one again).

My dishwasher came with the home when we purchased it, and we did not see any good reason to replace it. It is a standard model, with a nice stainless steel interior. We have had no problems with it and plan to use it until it fails. I would like to have the upgrade model in a new home. This one does a good job washing the dishes.

I bought a brand new GE Spacesaver OTR mount Microwave (Model # jnm1851dmbb) and had installed in my new home by the appliance shop where I purchased it in November, 2010. I am a widow and I use the microwave maybe 3-4 times per week, and take very good care of it. I went to steam some fresh veggies this evening and the whole unit just went dead. There’s no fan, light, or keypad. It is plugged in and I did not blow a fuse or switch. I checked them all. It’s just plain broken after less than 2 years of very light use. It’s a piece of junk! I’ll be buying another brand this time. I will never buy a GE again! It’s a junk, junk and junk!

Over-the-range microwave failure (model JVM2052, manufactured Dec. 2010) was purchased and installed professionally in March 2011. Total cost is $546. First, the fan failed in about June 2012 and I thought I can live with this. In Sept. 2012, the unit failed, but the interior light and clock still work. I paid $97.00 for a service call from the dealer, and the tech said the power source failed(?). Estimated parts and labor for repair is $370. So, I will buy a new unit (not GE) and pay about $150 for delivery and installation and take away this GE unit. I live in Morris County, NJ and this is not a rural area! GE service rep whom I called said GE doesnt service this area and to look in the yellow pages for an authorized dealer. I called again and got the name and address of the president of GE Appliances, and I am going to write about this product.

Touchpad for CVM2072SM2SS stopped working. This touchpad has been creating issues for the last couple of years. Few reconnection of wires got it working for the last few times and now it is completely broke. GE is not ready to help with fixing the issue. It wants to sell me another microwave CVM1750SHSS which seems to have similar issues (also the plastic handle for those microwaves seems to fall apart due to heat). In fact, the reviews for the whole range of GE Cafe series seems to be pretty bad. GE is not owning up the design issues. Too bad!

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitch
We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

In 2012 we purchased a GE microwave for around $500.00. It lasted with moderate use until 2017 at which point, it almost burned our house down due to malfunctions of internal parts. After many hours on the phone and several repair visits, GE agreed to replace it. The replacement lasted until March of 2020, at which point it started tripping our breaker. I took a half day off of work waiting on a repair technician. The technician came out and replaced a switch. Two hours after he left, the microwave stopped working. I called GE back and was given another repair appointment, again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. He arrived and stated that the door of the microwave was causing it not to work and he ordered a new door.I called GE and was given another repair appointment. Again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. He arrived and replaced the door. That evening, we noticed that the internal light would not shut off when we closed the microwave door. Two days later the microwave started producing a burning smell whenever we used it.I went out and purchased a $50.00 microwave from Walmart. This experience has been beyond what is reasonable for a customer to experience. I have received numerous automated emails from GEs consumer relations department from a GE consumer relations employee that is allegedly been responsible for my case. I have never actually spoken to this person even though I was advised numerous times that she would be calling me. As of this point, I plan on never purchasing another GE product nor can I in good conscience recommend to anybody that would inquire, purchasing a GE product. The customer service I received has been bad to say the least and the product even worse.

GE MICROWAVE OVEN MODEL PVM 187osmcoz PROFILE over the range. This is the first time we have purchased an extended warranty. It was purchased October 2010. On December 6 2010, the whole unit was replaced. Then little things continued to occur. The fan would start to run continuously. The circuit board was replaced. That lasted for several months. Then another circuit board was replaced. Less than two weeks ago another circuit board was replaced. Last night at dinner the unit began acting up again. This unit is out of commission for almost a whole week after every break down as we wait for parts. While waiting for parts on Jan 24 2012 we bought a Sunbeam Microwave for $39.95 as a back up. I placed it in service today, Jan 29 2013.

The right rear shelf hook caught fire while the microwave was in use. Luckily, we saw it in time... We are not sure who to complain to or tell about this. We went on GE.com to inform them of this issue and am waiting for a response. I see here that I am not alone. There is other info being shared on YouTube about this issue as well. GE better make good on this for me. Now I have to find my paperwork... Figure out who will remove this under cabinet installed oven and replace it. I am probably on my own here as it is 3 years old!!

We have insurance through Assurant on the products since it was recommended. We purchased the insurance for repairs and parts. Refrigerator - the motherboard (if you have other words for this) went out (4 weeks for a part). Now it is fixed. Dishwasher PDW8280NSS - This was the final answer from GE Consumer Affairs:I do apologize for this entire experience. I will be more than happy to contact you today between the time frame of 02:30-04:45 PM CST. Any additional questions you may have, you can contact me quickest by email. Again, I do apologize and I will contact you later today to discuss further options available to you. At this time, being the part is not available, the best option would be to offer a prorate on this dishwasher for you in order to have a functioning dishwasher in your home. I do appreciate your patience in handling this matter and will most certainly speak with you this afternoon. Thank you. Really, I have a case manager? The products must be really ** good if you need this as a department. Everyone should rethink buying GE products. Never again. I am campaigning against them! I purchased this dishwasher in Sept 2017. Today after normal use, the motor stopped and it leaked a full load of water into my basement. I called GE service and got no satisfaction. Its out of warranty after 12 months. I then called their customer care department who really dont care very much. They wanted a GE tech to look at the dishwasher for a fee of $109. Then they offered 50% discount on parts. In the past, GE was always a reliable brand but no longer. Stay away from their dishwashers and every other appliance they make. It is not the GE of old. Cost of washer $749.95 plus 4-yr warranty, install and hoses, $273 equals $1,023 for this GE stainless interior tall tub dishwasher GLD8700N20BB that only lasted 6 years and 4 months. It wont run, wont fill with water, nothing. Six years. Time to buy again. My advice, buy a cheap one and replace it every 36 months and forget the extended warranty. Installed: Sept. 2009. Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. That LG cost $42,000 for a new kitchen and months of contractors and work. Washing dishes by hand is looking better every day... Think about it.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

In January 2013, my husband and I purchased new appliances from Home Depot,
In January 2013, my husband and I purchased new appliances from Home Depot, including the above referenced dishwasher. The first dishwasher was delivered broken. The display panel was detached from the body of the dishwasher. At that point, I was concerned about the quality of the product. From the way it was detached, it appeared to be very cheaply made. (It was also installed incorrectly, causing a leak under our sink and ruining the bottom of our cabinetry. We settled this with Home Depot, but I include this detail to help emphasize my frustration over this whole situation.)When I contacted Home Depot about the faulty product, they agreed to provide a replacement, so I decided to give it another try. I wish now that I had simply returned the product and purchased another brand. Upon receiving the new dishwasher, I noticed immediately that the edge of the inner rack was scratched so badly that the plastic coating was gone, and rust had already begun to appear. I had to call customer service and get replacement racks. (More on this to follow.) Allow me to detail our service call records:Call #1. Heat dry didnt work at all. The technician told me that I needed to run the water in the sink and make sure it was very hot before running the dishwasher, and he changed the settings. This created a slight improvement, but not much.Call #2. Soon after, detergent tabs started to get stuck in the dispenser cups. I was using the exact brand recommended in the manual. The technician told me that detergent tabs were just the worst, and that I should try gel detergent, even though this is contrary to what the manual states. The detergent ruined my silverware, and I have had to purchase a new set, which I now hand wash.Call #3. Using gel detergent did not work. Technician came back, and told me the wrong replacement racks were sent. That must be what was blocking the water from getting to the soap. He ordered another replacement rack. He brought a plastic door, watched the water, and told me the upper arm wasnt spinning fast enough. He made an adjustment and claimed to fix that.Call #4. Detergent still not emptying from the cup. A different technician came back and used the plastic door. He found a different problem, but did not have the parts to fix it, so, another service call had to be scheduled.Call #5. Technician comes back, and finally fixes the detergent cup problem. For now.Call #6. Heat dry now does not work at all. There is so much water on the dishes that I have to hand dry them, and afterward, I have to mop my floor. There is just a massive amount of water in the dishwasher. In addition, it will not start except on a one-hour delay. Pushing the delay button does nothing to change the settings, and does not allow me to scroll through like it should. This appointment is scheduled for today, but I am not hopeful that anything will change. At this point, I have no faith that this dishwasher will ever work. Customer service did extend my warranty for six months, but that is the only concession I have gotten from them. That extension will expire soon, and I fear that at that point I will simply have to spend another $600 on a new dishwasher and leave this one on the curb. Its unacceptable for any consumer to have to purchase a new dishwasher less than two years after purchasing from GE.

We purchased a new General Electric (GE) Adora microwave model DVM1850SM4SS
We purchased a new General Electric (GE) Adora microwave model DVM1850SM4SS from Home Depot for approximately $355.00 in 2010. It was manufactured in Malaysia and had been in use for 2 years and 9 months before the magnetron failed. I spoke with a GE Customer Care representative on two occasions, and she said that the best that GE could do was split the cost of parts and labor since the 1 year warranty had expired. We had not purchased the extended warranty believing at the time that a microwave generally lasts for many years, and GE had always made quality products and would stand behind them. I indicated that I wanted to have the problem properly diagnosed by the service rep recommended by GE before proceeding further. The 10-minute service call bill set us back approx. $100.00. It would cost at least another $170 to replace the magnetron if we used the service tech contracted by GE. For $270, I believe we could find a fairly nice new microwave. I looked at alternative options for repair or replacement, since I am rather partial to the looks of the over the range stainless steel Adora. The model we have is no longer manufactured, but GE now offers the 1.9 cu. ft. Adora that Home Depot sells for around $400.00. In my internet research, I noted several postings that indicated that due to the high voltage danger of the magnetron, only trained technicians should attempt repairs. After half a dozen calls, I fortunately learned of a Microwave Service Center close to our residence that could replace the magnetron. After taking it down from above the range, hauling it in for repair and paying the approx. $104.00 bill and hauling it back to our residence to mount on the wall, we have a microwave that should work for a while! Total cost including service call for diagnosis - $204.00. Considering that GE does not wish to stand behind the quality of their products, I would not be likely to purchase a GE product again.

We bought our home 4 years ago. After 2 years and 8 months the bottom of the door cracked and a piece fell off, then the door wouldnt close. We were past the warranty so we bought a new one since it would be cheaper to replace it than repair it. We didnt complain because we thought it was put in incorrectly by the builder. The new one was installed correctly this time. After 1 year and 8 months the door is doing the same thing. I contacted GE and they said there is no manufacture defects. Because we didnt purchase the extra warranty it would cost us $90 to have someone come out and look at it. We only paid $179 for the microwave. It is a huge problem for us! We will not buy another GE product. Mostly because the customer service isnt willing to help at all. They just transfer you to different departments who all tell you the same thing. I have had two service calls on this dishwasher (Model Number GDT65SMJ0ES) and it is 18 months old. The first was to replace the heating element, which was under warranty. The recent problem was a cut-off switch that will trip when needed. The technician hooked up his computer to turn it back on, a very quick procedure, and it cost us almost $100. This unit should have a trip switch like a vacuum or garbage disposal so that the owner can do it themselves. After that, if the dishwasher still doesnt work, then a call for repair could be made. By the way, the repairman was very nice and respectful to us.

Our GE microwave stopped working after about 7 months of use. Ive never had a microwave break down on me before. Ive owned other brands which Ive used for years, actually lasted over 10 years. The representative told me that the fuse probably went out. Something must have blown out. Finally, the appointment was made for about a week later, which was the earliest time available. It is so inconvenient not to have a working microwave even just for a day. Anyhow, the service tech came about two hours late. The scheduled time was for 8am-12 pm. He showed up close to 2pm. A family member was waiting at home all day because of this. Then the service tech told us that he needs to order a part for the microwave and that he will return a week later to repair the microwave.A week later, he didnt show up. No one even called. So I called back GE and found out that the appointment has been postponed! So now, we have been without a microwave for about three weeks. I think this is ridiculous. Im pretty sure that this is a common problem with GE microwaves and they already had an idea why the microwave wasnt working. It doesnt power-up! Now they are telling me that they dont have the part/s in stock? If I had known that we had to invest so much time and go through so much hassle from the get-go, I would have just purchased a new microwave three weeks ago. GE should pay me for all the time Ive wasted!

Unit is only 7 years old and not greatly used (only two adults who dont use it much)… Purchased as part of package including GE refrigerator, range and dishwasher (already got rid of refrigerator, as parts kept breaking and unit had other chronic problems). I turned the microwave on to make popcorn - it immediately made a terrible noise and filled with smoke with an electrical smell. Unplugged the unit and contacted GE Repair. When I described what happened, I was transferred immediately to their safety unit because of the nature of the problem. A GE technician arrived today and almost immediately diagnosed the problem: a metal component that directs the waves of the microwave generation tube had burned out, and by federal regulation, he claimed, cannot be repaired - the whole appliance must be trashed and replaced. Once again, I have experienced GEs poorly engineered products that appear to be designed to fail in a relatively short time. Can you spell planned obsolescence? (No photo provided, as there is no external visual damage).

Just bought a Monogram dishwasher one week ago, and the front sound barrier fell off. The service man came out, took a look, and said it was not a big deal. I questioned him why it fell off within such a short period. He stated that it was GEs policy: to make Monogram quieter than competitors, they put in sound barrier in front. However, it fell off often. Since it does not affect how the dishwasher work, GE does not believe that it is a big deal. Therefore, no need for quality control, and he will use new glue to glue it back. No guarantee that it will not fall off later... What is GE stand on the engineering products any more? Will never buy any more GE product...

JVM6175SFSS - I purchased this over the stove Micro in July 2014. When I cooked a potato or frozen meal it would sound like it was going to explode. Condensation drips down behind my stove and the window and door to it get all steamed up. The fan clears the door & window but is very loud and intrusive even on low. Besides that I have never needed to use a fan when I use the microwave. GE repair came and said there was nothing wrong with it. But after thinking about it, came back the next day and took it apart. The tech called GE engineers and described to their amazement the way the inside was made. They said no way. So the tech took pictures and emailed them to GE. They reviewed it and said thats the way it is. I wouldnt stand for that and called them again and told them that the bottom of the micro gets scalding hot. At that they changed it out.... for another one with the same problem. The wall behind the stove is getting ruined from vapor dripping and all the same problems exist. They will be coming again and I am going to insist they take back their junker and let me buy a safe microwave of another brand even though my other appliances match. I am sorry now that I bought my GE stove and refrigerator now because they match the micro.

Purchased this dishwasher March of 2015. We have had at least five service calls because it does not clean the dishes. Glasses with just water in them when they went in the dishwasher come out dirtier than they went in. Residue is worse on the glasses, but other dishes are not getting completely cleaned. Forget it if something is stuck on, if you dont prewash, you are washing them again. GE has replaced numerous pieces, blamed our water was too hard until they found out we had a water softener and water system and then blamed that instead. We have changed soaps (five different brands), tried every setting in multiple ways, turned off the water system and just had the water softener run, turned everything off and nothing improves the quality of the clean. GE has even refused to pay the service technicians that they GE sent out to repair the dishwasher. Now we cant get anyone to come look at it because they are afraid they wont get paid. We have had three dishwashers prior to this one and have never had an issue with the dishes coming clean. We have maintained that there is not enough water pressure to rinse the dishes, but they are adamant this is not the case. Regardless, the dishes are still not coming clean. All we want is for it to be fixed, replaced or our money refunded. GE customer service is terrible.

GLDT696 series dishwasher - I have put up with my GE appliances and their problems for years, but now I will throw in the towel. Our Contractor appliances were replaced 5 years ago when remodeling the kitchen. Ten years of no problems with cheap stuff replaced with Stainless Steel GE ovens, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. I will only mention the dishwasher in this posting. Bottom line... Wish I went with another manufacturer. The washer has a gasket that loves to fall out of place creating leaks or floods. The pump has failed after the one year warranty. The control board has been replaced twice and today it looks like there will be a third one. That is if I am stupid enough to hold on to this piece of junk. If I buy another manufacturers steel front dishwasher it will not match the other appliances. At this point I dont care. Unlikely to ever buy a GE appliance again.

Im sure its the same thing everyone else is complaining about. I wont be buying another GE microwave again.

I purchased 5 new GE Appliances delivered June 1, 2014. Within the first 2 weeks, the dishwasher wouldnt drain and had the repairman out to fix it. Within the next 2 weeks, the door wouldnt stay closed and had the repairman come. He took the rubber off around the door so that the door would close and said he was not familiar with GE dishwashers and would go to showroom and look at it and come back. I said as long as I dont have a flood. He assured me that the water only fills up so far and would not leak. Within the next 2 weeks, I was downstairs and heard water running and it was pouring through the ceiling. I ran upstairs and very hot water was all over my kitchen and pouring through the floor into the basement. The unit malfunctioned and wouldnt shut off. I had to shut off the water to the DW and run to the electrical panel to shut off power. I then had to call insurance to get a restoration company to dry out and fix my house. I phoned Arkona Appliances to let them know and they gave me a toll free number to call for GE. The toll free number when you call you are on hold for at least an hour to talk to a receptionist which puts you on to someones voicemail. I was on hold for one hour the first time and one hour and eleven minutes the second time and begged to get a direct line for future calls. Reluctantly, the receptionist gave it to me. The technician had to come out and assess the dishwasher and said I needed a new dishwasher and sent the report in Friday, August 1. Because of the long weekend, I waited to call until Wednesday and they said they didnt receive the report. She asked me whether it was emailed or faxed - how would I know. Then she found the report and said I would get a new dishwasher Wednesday, Aug 13 or the 20th. Still havent heard anything. If received next week, it will have been 5 weeks from the time of the flood I have been washing dishes by hand. Awful customer service from retailer as well as GE. Problems dont go away they just get worse. Initially upset - NOW I AM FURIOUS!!!

I purchased a this GE Model CDT845P2NS1 on Oct 2, 2019 and the unit was received Oct 23, 2019. I installed the unit approx. 4 days after receipt and dishwasher functioned well until November 10th, 2020 when the unit failed to pump out the water. I contacted GE Service (MabeService) and was advised that the unit was not under warranty and as such I should contact a GE Canada authorized service centre. After several attempts to get someone to come to our location at Sharbot Lake we got hold of Capital Appliance Repair in Ottawa. They were not able to send a technician until November 18th. After diagnosing the problem the technician advised we needed a main control board and would have to order one and then come back to do the install of the control board. It is now February 21st 3 months after the visit and I’m being told that the part is backordered and they have no idea when it will become available. I’m extremely unhappy when you spend over $7,000.00 for a GE CAFÉ gas stove, Microwave, Refrigerator and dishwasher to find out you cannot get parts in a timely manner. As a customer of GE Canada I have had no help is solving my problem. It is not acceptable to have a 1 year old dishwasher that has failed, much less waiting for repair that has taken over 90 days to get repaired. DO NOT BUY!

I recently purchased a GD720SGF2WW Serial #HD744674B GE dishwasher. From the moment I tried to use it there was a leak from the bottom of the door. I called for service and when they came the repair man said the door was leaking and there was a repair kit for it so it must be a weak spot in this particular dishwasher, which by the way was not a cheap model and was stainless steel lined. I waited a month for further service and when he finally came he realized he had mistakenly diagnosed the problem and it was a crack in the lining of the door which had gradually gotten bigger as I waited for service. So this NEW dishwasher had been leaking onto my newly installed hardwood floor. By this time I had no faith whatsoever in this dishwasher and said I wanted a replacement. I was called back and told that they would only repair it, which I have been trying to do since NOVEMBER and it is now Jan 21! I will no longer buy GE products and when I called customer service I was on hold for 20 min and finally hung up which Im sure was their intent.

I had a problem with my GE Profile Dishwasher that I had for several years and I had it on factory warranty. However, the last time they came to repair, they did not have parts available to fix anymore. So, they recommended new one. I worked with Consumer dept and made arrangements to replace with one they recommended at $500+. After several efforts to get it delivered, it was and we began using. It is not a Profile like my old one and it does not have the additional washing, rinsing and drying cycles as the Profile. It is a flat out bottom line washer. No, sani clean etc.. We have used the machine about 4 times and each time we have to rewash several of the dishes and especially the silverware. This is the most disgusting piece of equipment I have ever used. My home is loaded with GE products from years ago, mostly the Profile series and I have been delighted with the products and service. This machine is a disaster. I cannot believe that GE has this on the market or maybe this is a machine they use to satisfy customers who may threaten to use someone elses. It was not free, as I say it cost over $500. The stores and onlines advertise better machines on sale for less. I have GE stock which I will sell. They are going down on Quality. Consequences: Stuck with poor machine that does not do job that I paid good money for. Really, GE, get yourself together. Product Model:GDF510PSD1SS.

Option 1: replace parts myself for 150.00. Option 2: call a technician for 200.00 plus parts or option 3: do without. Option 4: wait to afford a new one. I guess all things grow old but we should have enough history on these items to post a life span. In 2008 I redid the entire kitchen and purchased all GE Profile stainless steel appliances thinking I was purchasing quality items. Well, it didnt take long before the dishwasher broke but it was fixed for free by GE under a recall. However, now the refrigerator has begun to leak under the right corner of the ice/water dispenser located on exterior of freezer door and the microwave touchpad has also failed as I need to press below the actual keys for it to work half the time. When I spoke with GE customer service they basically told me there was nothing they could do with the refrigerator, I would have to call a repairman and have it looked at or pay their $100 diagnosis fee.The microwave they told me had issues with that particular touchpad and had it broken within first 5 years they would have repaired it for free under their recall program. But since its 7 1/2 years old I would have to buy the touchpad which normally only lasts for 6 months to 1 year or buy a new GE microwave and they would offer a rebate. Im so unhappy with their customer service and poor reliability of their products that Ive passed on each offer as I dont want to contribute another penny to a company that in my opinion is unethical and has horrible reliability. 3 out of 4 of my fancy GE Profile stainless appliances have broken! This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. The new home that we purchased had the above named dishwasher (GDT655SSJSS). When I run the dishwasher there is a very high frequency whine throughout the cycle - the only time it stops is when it is changing cycles. I have contacted GE Customer service 3 times... Third contact - today- called customer service after my negative appliance review was rejected by GE (buyer beware of all those positive reviews) and was told that this noise is normal. Totally Unacceptable - since the sound hurts my ears and causes a headache - I have to listen to 111 minutes of this noise (except when the washer pauses to change cycles). First, I want to acknowledge that I misplaced my receipt due to a move, 8 storage units and 4 houses. But...I did register my new, never before installed dishwasher when it was installed October 2020. After install I ran it empty to test/clean it. IT LEAKED. I called GE to schedule repair. I was told it was manufactured in 2018 (another said 2019) and it was not under warranty. I explained I purchased it only a few months before and installation was delayed due to my contractors. They said I would have to pay for labor but the parts were covered under warranty. I didnt like it but agreed because I couldnt find the receipt (from a big box store).Local repair people came, after 2 more calls, 3 weeks later and fixed the leak. They did not run or check if anything else was wrong with the dishwasher. I began using it and quickly realized that it did not get the dishes clean. It does not heat the water, it does not dry, it cant possibly sanitize without heat and kitchen installer said it was missing the kick plate. Geez!! And this is just the things I know!! I have called 4 times now to schedule a service repair, each time having to explained the whole thing, sit on hold, ask to speak to a supervisor, be transferred to customer service and 4 times I have been DISCONNECTED!! I bought all GE appliances so they would match but I would give anything if I didnt have to deal with GE again!! Unfortunately, I will have to call again Monday or buy a different brand. Save yourself and buy another brand!!! Wish I could submit a picture.

We have not had any issues with our microwave. It is relatively easy to operate (how difficult can it be, right?). Overall, we are pleased with our microwave. The microwave was already installed when we purchased our home, so I cannot speak to whether or not it is worth the price.

I moved into our house about 27 years ago, and have had to replace every single appliance except the microwave. The oven, fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher—all replaced at least one time over. But this 90s GE microwave keeps humming along. I really should replace it just because it is this awful off-white color and everything else in our kitchen is part of a beautiful stainless steel/black/white scheme, but it is actually built right into a cabinet and I fear I will not be able to get another microwave in there. The only gripe I have about its performance is the fan comes on and roars full-blast anytime the stove or oven is on. It is so loud its difficult to talk over.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. The panel is now dead and my only option, having tried the fixes on Youtube, is to invest money starting at $108 for an inspection or buy a new Microwave. My entire experience with this product has been a big disappointment as I also own a GE Cafe range, fridge, and dishwasher.

I purchased a GE dishwasher, stove and refrigerator in December 2012. All 3 appliances have broken, needed parts (which were also broken) and I still have appliances that arent working appropriately. The dishwasher door broke and it doesnt clean or dry well. The induction stove (the main burner) doesnt work and the replacement part was delivered to my house and that was delivered broken. The fan in the refrigerator broke and still remains broken. I have had nothing but headaches since the day the appliances were delivered. I would not recommend GE appliances.

I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

All I wanted to do was eat dinner with my husband and I wound up on the internet for an hour trying to figure out how to make our microwave work. There is some kind of thing that locks you out of using it. Very frustrating when you just want to eat dinner!! Nothing works and you have to google how do you unlock this piece of crap that you paid good money for and trusted the GE label. All we ever use is defrost food or time cook vegetables. If you want a complex computer, go for this thing. Otherwise, I suggest you go for a simpler microwave that you can depend on to work.

We lost our old refrigerator to a lightning strike and had to get a new one ASAP, and it had to be counter depth, a great ice maker, side by side, and not be a SS finish. My wife and I hated our old SS one but liked everything else on the old unit so we went looking for a new one that met these requirements. What a chore, this was not an easy unit to find as most everything now has a bottom type freezer. This was defiantly out of the question.

I just built a new home and opted for all GE Slate appliances. No problems so far with microwave, fridge, and stove but the dishwasher has never once been dry or cleaned all dishes. We have had it a little over a month! Today when I went to run it, there was mold growing! I had a KitchenAid for 9 years and never once did any of this happen. From reading other complaints, it looks like Ill be living with this for some time. I will never purchase GE again.

My GE over the range Microwave has broken about 4 times in a years time. My warranty company American Home Shield (AHS) has decided that instead of replacing this piece of garbage, its somehow worth it to keep on fixing it, which is apparently their MO for all their customers but I digress. After the latest breakdown (microwave lost power completely), I was referred by AHS to GE Appliance repair. Thus began the nightmare. The tech that showed up was incompetent at best. He showed up, looked at me, made a grouchy face and proceeded to walk in the kitchen with an attitude like he was doing us this massive favor. He opened the microwave door, closed it, opened his computer and ordered 10 (yes 10) different part. Again, he literally just opened and closed the door - did not disassemble to see what part was actually messed up. No diagnosis done of any kind. He scheduled to come out the week after that - didnt show up because I missed his phone call. Btw, I called him back pretty immediately and he didnt pick up. After being on hold for about 35 mins (which is clearly the GE standard hold time), they tell me the guy has left the area and they need to reschedule me for a week later. The day before the 2nd appointment, they called to reconfirm and then the morning of, I called, stayed on the standard 35-40 min hold and reconfirmed he was still coming and was told he was on his way. Well, the appointment time came and went and he failed to show up YET again so I called to ask wtf happened. They said he didnt come because I canceled the appointment thru an automated call. This time the idiot didnt call me like they always do. I asked for proof of this alleged automated call that was placed to me and they said no call record exist and so while it seemed like a system glitch, the tech already left the area and theyd need to reschedule it. I told them, No, thank you. Got a local repair company to come out the very next day. Turns out, out of the 10 parts that idiot tech had ordered, only 4 had arrived while the invoice still showed 10 being shipped. Let me clarify this: All these issues stem from GEs entire company: From manufacturing crappy products to HR hiring incompetent techs to customer service being absolutely nightmarish to supply chain not sending parts that are being ordered. And if you can somehow get their alleged consumer advocate department on the phone after a 40 min hold time, they dont give a crap either. All these employees MUST hate GE to drive customers away as far as possible. I own a business and I will never ever EVER buy GE again.

I purchased a GE Spacemaker Microwave model JVM 1750SP1SS from Best Buy in October of 2011. Just a few months after having the microwave, the handle came off. I called GE and they sent a technician and fixed it but it left scratches on the stainless steel. In addition, we have had problems with the turntable. Finally on March of 2013, the keypad went out. This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. I told them that I could buy another microwave from another company for less than that would probably cost. This microwave was made in Malaysia. I would not recommend any GE appliances that are not made in the US.

Microwave GE Monogram - For the second time in as many years, the glass door on my microwave just blew out and spewed glasses all over my kitchen. Luckily, no one was hurt except we are still getting glass in our feet a week later. My husband and I both contacted GE by email with no response whatsoever. Clearly, having read about this happening to many others, this product should have been recalled. It is their top of the line. The microwave wasnt even in use. GE must not need any customers and they have sure lost this one.

Our microwave (GE model JEs1655DR1BB) is only a couple of years old (if that). Today, my teenage son went to make microwave popcorn and the microwave made the most horrendous noise and started sparking behind the panel on the side. It lit up the entire room. I went and checked to make sure there wasnt something foreign in it (there wasnt) and stupid me thought maybe it was the popcorn so I tried a bowl of water. It did the same thing again. I am just thankful it didnt start an actual fire, but I am furious!

We bought a GE dishwasher model GDT720SGFWW thinking that GE was a reliable brand... What a disappointment! The first dishwasher we received was damaged and the door would not close properly. It took a week for GE to send a repair technician who confirmed that the unit was defective beyond repair. It took another week for GE to order a replacement unit and another week to get it delivered. The replacement unit arrived today and guess what? Figure it out GE! The sixth motor and mode selector for our washer has been reluctantly ordered by a tech this morning. The second motor was installed months after buying the brand new machine. Now, only two months since the fifth motor and mode selector was installed (Dec 2, 2011), the wiring harness is burnt up. The tech recommends replacement of the washer by GE, but only gets push-back from GE. This newest incident included a horrific smell of smoke. I do not trust this machine. I have a wife and child to protect. Think about it - do the math - add your costs for repeated repairs. You do not get to be a company the size of GE by not understanding simple economics. Open your eyes and replace our washer.

I own a GE turntable microwave. Ive had it for over 10 years and it is still going strong. I purchased it because of the capacity, the color, the wattage and features. The wattage in this microwave is amazing. It doesnt take long for things to heat up. I highly recommend this brand because it is so durable and the wattage it has. The features on the microwave are easy to access and has more features than I normally use. To have this microwave for so long and its still works just like I purchased it yesterday. 28 Inch Front Load Washer with 4.9 cu. ft. Capacity, 13 Wash Cycles, 1250 RPM, Steam Cycle, Steam Assist, Time Saver Option, Sanitize Cycle, Energy Star in White. Overall this machine is top of the line. Purchasing a home appliance is like purchasing a vehicle. I took my time and reviewed and compared before purchasing. About 3 months. I had just purchased a home and so you want an appliance that is going to last. It has a 10 year warranty. It has 3 color options. It's cosmetically attractive. It also is elevated which is a smart choice for a basement machine in case you have issues with water in your basement.

I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. The first Cafe dishwasher needed repairs in the first 3 months, and was replaced within 10 months due to continuing problems. The replacement GE Cafe dishwasher was deemed non-repairable after 2.5 years. The unit has a design flaw and the bracket holding the top water sprayer broke. The extended warranty with Assurant will not cover the dishwasher because they say it is not a working part. We are trying to get GE Customer Care to help but after three weeks the message we are getting is they do not care at all.The front burner on the cooktop will not light. GE cannot get a replacement part so the cooktop was also deemed nonrepairable after only 3 year. Our Cafe refrigerator also has a design flaw. The refrigerator must be unplugged to reset the computer when the water filter is changed. If you dont the refrigerator does not recognize the filter and will not dispense water. Needless to say I will never buy GE again. It is sad to see what was a good company go down the tubes.

We had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when the house we live in was built and it was one of the ones which were recalled as a fire hazard. We didnt really have any issues with it though, other than it was a bit noisy. With the credit offered, we decided to upgrade to a high end Profile model. The sound proofing is impressive and it was actually hard to tell the unit was on, but that is the only thing you can say that is good about the machine. As a dishwasher, it fails miserably and often items come out dirtier than when they went in. OK, weve struggled on with that for some time now but today, a nasty burnt plastic smell brought us both to the kitchen to investigate. Sure enough, the replacement for the fire hazard was the culprit. Obviously, it will need some serious repairs before it is safe to use once more. Looking through this and other sites, it seems this problem is rife and GE is reluctant to deal with the issues. Well I think that will be our last GE appliance. Thank you very much and rather than throw good money after bad, we will put the repair costs towards another machine ABGE.

SOLVED: PDW9980L00SS GE Profile Dishwasher not cleaning dishes. The rubberized sump of this dishwasher suffers from chemical deterioration. In our case the deterioration allowed waste water to bypass a check valve and return into the wash water. Dishes dont come out clean and the spray wands get plugged up with bits of waste. The solution is to replace the sump. If youre handy with tools its an easy DIY job which requires pulling out the dishwasher and turning it on its side for access to the sump. Lots of videos online re the process and for safety start by shutting off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher power. For our model the new sump part number WG01L00289 replaces the original WD18X10026. Dishes & glasses now sparkle. Hope this helps as there was lots of frustration on this end before replacing the sump seen in the photo.

Right now its locked up and Im following the direction to unlock but it wont unlock. So theres no real on/off button! There needs to be a control on the inside of door where you can turn the lock button. Im writing this so others wont buy this model as they will be thoroughly dissatisfied. Maybe all GE dishwashers are like this? This one sucks...
