We have a GE SpaceMaker JVM 239BV 001 over the range microwave purchased about 10 years ago. Within one year of installation the handle snapped - just as numerous people here have stated. I went to our local replacement parts store and was shocked that it cost $30 for a new handle. The sales person said if I were you I would by the lifetime warranty for an extra $3 because you will be back, I sell lots of these.

Wife started using the microwave. Within a minute she smelled something burning. She opened the door and a flame shot out. Thankfully she remained at the microwave as it was running. Could have been catastrophic if the microwave continued to run for another minute. There is a charred 2 inch section at a circular piece in the inside top of the microwave.

We purchased a Profile Dishwasher, Stove, Oven and Microwave. So far weve had problems with all products especially the dishwasher. The bottom of the dishwasher is filled with water, the door has water running down the front and all dishes have to be dried. I have talked to GE and I was told the new models do not have a drying system as in the past due to EPA. I feel like we have spent thousands of dollars for items that are trash. Had I known I would be drying dishes I would never bought GE products. I would trade this GE for a SEARS in a minute but too late. Ill keep calling GE office, maybe a miracle will occur. Ive tried all the tricks in the handbook... doesnt work.

We have had this GE dishwasher model GLD6760N00SS for about 9 years and it was fine, until a few nights ago!! We ran the dishwasher, unloaded it, closed the door and went out. When we returned about four hours later we were met in our apartment lobby by the building manager who informed us that we had a fire in our apartment. It started in the dishwasher, which was off, and destroyed the unit. Repairs will be costly due to fire restoration required as well as the need to now replace more than just a dishwasher. Soot covered the whole apartment, and left a need to get a new kitchen floor and repair/replace some cabinets. Be careful of this model from GE.

Model #JVM1790SK01. High end GE Profile microwave/convection oven. Purchase
Model #JVM1790SK01. High end GE Profile microwave/convection oven. Purchased and installed in 2009. First off the exhaust fan is terrible and is very noisy. The product itself worked well until recently when now the microwave heats intermittently, one time it will come on and heat, next time nothing. The fan runs, but no heating. The truly frustrating part is I need the front venting and no other units have the vents that blow the air outward, all the new units blow the air straight up your cabinets. Certainly a high end unit should last longer than 5 years with only two adults using it now and then. The cost of the service is outrageous and I surely would not use the $100 rebate on another GE product if they do not last any better than this one.

After about 5 months of owning the unit (GE dishwasher model GDT580SGFBB), the door latch sensor became defective and discontinued the wash cycle up to 6 times every use. I contacted the GE warranty department. Their consumer relations advocates treated me as subhuman. I never felt like a valued customer, my concerns and my time were never a priority. Instead I became a part of their research and development program while beta testing a defective product. After 6 months of futile repairs requiring multiple technician visits I was exasperated. I had submitted 4 separate warranty claims that often were mysteriously closed without my knowledge. I finally contacted the original retailer, Home Depot, and shared my experience. They catered to me even though it was well past the 90-day store policy. They gave me a credit for the purchase price so I could choose a replacement. Since I dont want to touch another GE appliance with a 10-ft pole, I chose another brand. Shortly thereafter I received a call from GEs Escalated Issues department offering to replace the unit. Evidently that lit a fire under them. But it was too late, my patience with GE has been exhausted. If this is the way GE wants to run their business, then it will be a fast-track way to dig their own grave.

Three years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and replaced all our appliances with GE Profile Stainless Steel appliances, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Two months ago, the dishwasher, model PDWT580R10SS, stopped working. It was out of warranty, but the store where we purchased it said to call GE consumer service to see what they could do. They said that they would replace the parts for free if we paid for service. They said they would send a GE certified service tech to fix it. The two people they sent were dumb as a brick and after tearing apart the door, they decided that the controller board was bad and sent for a replacement. Two weeks later, they installed the new controller board and it still didnt work. They called GE and were walked through a troubleshooting guide and it was determined that the touchpad was bad. They ordered a touch pad and two weeks later, they arrived to install it and asked where the part was. According to them, it was sent to me and was at the post office, which it was not. They then asked to be paid for the three calls and I told them I do not pay for incompetence and would pay them when the appliance was fixed. Turns out, they gave GE the wrong address (their store) for the part and it was sent back. I called GE Consumer Service and talked to my rep who said she would send the part directly to me and that the service rep refused to work with me again and I should contact another service organization. The part came and it was not a touch pad, even though the packing list said touch pad. I called the GE rep, who is now a good friend and she said she would contact the store where we purchased the dishwasher and have them fix it as long as I paid for the parts. It is now two weeks since they arrived and diagnosed the problem. I just called the store and they said the part was backordered for another week. It will be close to three months before the dishwasher will be fixed if it can be. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE A GE APPLIANCE.

I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have
I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have had. This month will be a year and a half. The oven stopped heating so being a DIY person, I pulled the oven out and took it to my workshop to see if it was something I could repair. Inside the front panel was a very helpful schematic of the whole oven. Using the troubleshooting step listed on the paper, I found that the Magnetron tube had gone out. So I went to my owners manual and found that the tube had a four-year warranty on it so I called General Electric consumer relations to have the part replaced. First I had to fight with them because they said it was only covered for a year. After about an hour and a half on the phone and giving her the publication number on the manual, she agreed that it was indeed covered for four years. So she said that she would replace the part and she would even send a technician out to install it at no charge. I was very happy at this point. She said that she would ship the part to me next day with UPS and the tech would be out the following day to replace it. So far so good, till the next day when the part did not arrive. I called back in to General Electric consumer relations and spoke with a man this time and he told me that she had canceled the order that is why I did not receive it, and he couldnt see why. So he looked at the comments she had made the day before and did see that she said she would replace it and send a tech. The tech was supposed to be here the next day and I had no part for him to install. The man said he would place the order and have it shipped to me by the next day no later than 10 a.m. and the tech would be here between 1 to 5 p.m. Great! Until the next day and again no part when they said it would be there. Again with the call only to find out that it was scheduled to arrive next day guaranteed by 7 p.m. The tech is supposed to be there with in the next few hours and I wouldnt have the part. I called Fed-Ex and sweet-talked the lady into getting a hold of her driver to see if she could get to me ASAP. Bingo, next thing you know I have the part, the tech calls and the part is replaced. Oh boy, the big gaping hole above my stove is finally going to be filled once again. (I promise I am coming to the end.) After reinstalling the oven, I found out that it was taking longer to heat than when I got it, and it has a brand new Magnetron in it.Again with the call to General Electric consumer relations to set up another tech to come out and check it out. So the following day, the same tech arrives and puts a cup of just barely cool water in it and puts it in for 30 seconds, pulls the water out and says it is working just like it is supposed to and leaves. Well, again I called General Electric consumer relations to let them know what has transpired, but this time I asked to speak with someone higher up the food chain. I then spoke to a lady and she said that she would set up another tech to come out and check it out, and if it resulted in the same way that she would replace the unit with a new one. The following day, the same tech calls me and said that the oven is working the best that it could so I should call back to consumer relations as he did and set it up for a new one to be sent in its place. So I called once again and was not able to speak with the same lady and the only thing she could do is send me a voucher for $250 laying around for a new oven, but I would have to purchase one and send the voucher in with the receipt to get a refund. I told her that I did not have a spare $250 dollars around to go buy a new oven and then wait for the refund to get to me. So I asked that she have the lady that said she would replace it to call me back to straighten this problem out. Finally the following week, the lady calls me back and said, This is the best that I can do, due to me voiding the warranty. I asked, What? She said that the tech that spoke with me said that because I had hard wired in the unit to the house wiring, it was receiving low voltage so she couldnt do any better than that. I told her that was the most asinine comment I have ever heard coming from a field tech and asked her whether he went to a school backyard Techs-r-Us. I asked if she would have the tech call me to explain. I also gave her some friendly advice that she should not use that comment to anyone else for fear of someone laughing at her. We agreed to have the voucher sent if that was the best she could do. I will not buy another GE appliance again! I have purposely not mentioned anyones name because it was the experience, not the person that I spoke with.

I like the look of the oven but it took 3 shots to get it right. I had some bad luck with 2 out of 3. It seems the first 2 were damaged. I know many people would have given up but I owned one before this one and the only reason I gave it up was remodeling. The oven worked fine after 5 years. I guess I gambled on past performance and it still paid off. But I am really not sure about the door sometimes because it is a big door and it can seem tinnee and cheap at times. The overall performance is good and the looks are what I was looking for.

We have a five-year old GE Profile Microwave that has an LCD panel. It is a nice feature, but it has become unresponsive to touch and now will cost us $500 to replace the LCD panel. We will just buy a KitchenAid instead. The LCD panel is not sealed, so when you cook, even using the exhaust fan, the moisture gets up in there and damages the panel. This is such a terrible design. We paid $600 for this microwave thinking it is a good quality appliance. Never buy GE! I was in Best Buy yesterday and told people who were there looking at microwaves. Terrible quality! We have to purchase a whole new microwave hood range now.

Called out GE service tech to diagnose my dishwasher which was not draining after the wash cycle ended. Was told it was the control board and it would be best to buy a new dishwasher. Purchased a control board online (was a GE original part for a lot less than the GE price) but it did not solve the problem. After researching the problem online, I found out that it could be the drain valve. Sure enough, bought one for $14, installed it myself and the dishwasher works like new. Called GE Service to try and get a refund for the service visit ($89), was told that I had 30 days to have the tech come back out at no charge. Tech never advised me of this policy and GE will not refund my money.

I purchased a GE microwave just a year ago. Ive had a few problems with it like the round glass plate that you cook food on cracking in half twice when the microwave wasnt even in use, and the control panel going stupid... requiring me to unplug it to get it back on track. The worst part is I purchased an entire kitchen work of GE appliances at the same time and Ive already had two service visits on the dishwasher.GE customer service is the worst! When I call they just keep repeating themselves and they never listen to what Im telling them. Today was the worst yet... I got this woman on the phone and she just kept telling me the microwave was not in warranty any longer as of last month. She also told me she only has two appliances listed on my account (no range or refrigerator) when they were registered at the same time as the other appliances and they have sold me filters for the refrigerator several times. All I can tell people is if you are considering buying GE appliances... DONT! They SUCK!

Now I have a white plastic handle that’s supposed to be stainless steel as an eyesore in the middle of my kitchen. When I called GE replacement line, I was informed the handle was $164! Microwave (over the stove model) is also supposed to be conventional oven, but does not do that well. Just use as microwave. As microwave, easy to use. Now 14 years old and still going strong, although a little dated in appearance. Grill cover looks like chrome, but made of plastic, and when I tried to remove it recently to change the filter, it broke and now has to be replaced. $180, but still cheaper than a new appliance. Have a six-year-old GE Tall Tub Café dishwasher (model#GHDT168V00SS) I purchased at Home Depot in Denver. Also purchased a 5 Year Extended Warranty that I assumed was through GEs Extended Warranty Opportunity. The dishwasher suddenly began leaking and ruined our hardwood floors (I know, wood floors in kitchen not good; tell that to the builder). I called GEs customer care number and basically talked to a scripted robot. You dont have a warranty through GE, its a third-part insurer such as Assurant, I was told. Not worth repairing, and the warranty expired a few months ago. I know parts wear out, but for heavens sake, cant they build a dishwasher that doesnt leak from the bottom, underneath the unit, where water will seep unbeknownst to people, eventually destroying the floor? Guess not. So, no more GE appliances EVER. PERIOD! Switched to Samsung, LG and Maytag. Now, gotta spend a couple grand ($2K+) to repair the hardwood floor.

This machine washes glasses sparkling clean with the use of a rinse additive. I like the fact that it has a top, middle and bottom spray blade; it has a moveable silverware bucket; it is very quiet; it provides that you can wash the upper level separate from the lower level. It seems to make use of the maximum amount of space inside. The appearance is sleek and modern. During the first few washes there is a distinct heated rubber smell that emits from the machine; however, this should dissipate completely by the fourth, fifth or sixth wash.

I bought a brand new house and it came with the set of GE profile appliances in 10/2009. In November of this year, it came on for one minute on its own and then popped and indicated a circuit board failure. The inside of the microwave was extremely hot and there was obviously an electrical short. This could have burned down my house! My fiance replaced the circuit board at a cost of $125. I negotiated from the service department that supplied all my builders appliances. This week it happened again. This time, there was a cup of coffee in the microwave and it boiled in the minute before the microwave fried itself! I cant believe that GE still has this product on the market! Any product on the market! I have to replace this because I cant sleep thinking its going to catch my house on fire. Are there no ethics anywhere?

Our microwave was manufactured in September 2010 and we purchased it in October 2010. It has been used a few times a week for reheating leftovers. I have owned secondhand microwaves and unknown brand microwaves, and they have been more reliable than the GE Profile. My husband and I invested in the Profile series when we remodeled our kitchen. After a lifetime of moving and living in homes with much to be desired kitchens, we decided to spend money to provide ourselves with a functional kitchen. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved myself the trouble and purchased my appliances from another company. After having to call GE to send out a repair person 5 different times to work in our microwave oven, we are left with a nonworking microwave oven. It seems that a company that has made record profits from their faithful American fans could do the right thing and replace the microwave oven with something that works. Perhaps they do not have such a product. They have offered to let us buy a new one at a big discount, but they have not clarified what the percentage will be. The problem I have with this is that spending one more dollar on a product with no backing from the company it came from would be asking for more let down. I believe Ill have this lemon removed and quit before I take on any more consumer letdowns.

Because we didnt purchase the extra warranty it would cost us $90 to have someone come out and look at it. We only paid $179 for the microwave. It is a huge problem for us! We will not buy another GE product. Mostly because the customer service isnt willing to help at all. They just transfer you to different departments who all tell you the same thing. We purchased this dishwasher for our rental. The last dishwasher was over 30 years old and still working but the racks were coming apart so we opted for a new one from Home Depot. A year later our tenants called saying when they used the dishwasher it rained in the basement. Our maintenance man called and said the dishwasher melted a hole in the right side about 1.5 inches by a 1/4 inch. Midway to the heater element. He did a temp fix with silicone.I called GE Recall number and was told it was not on a recall list. I called customer service and was told they would waive the service call. I explained this was a FIRE HAZARD. They insisted all they could do is send their tech out for repair. Since I paid about 280 dollars for the dishwasher I decide a service call would probably run near that and told them NO! I am now sending all information to consumer affairs department with my STATE REPRESENTATIVE. I also am putting the fire hazard info out there on facebook and twitter. I am waiting for someone else to say they also had a fire hazard. This should be on a recall list!

However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months later, a few days before Thanksgiving 2015. GE claimed it was out-of-warranty, and I would have to pay $99 to have a technician look at it, and would charge for repairs. We are stuck with the GE Monogram Microwave as it is a built-in unit and our cabinet is built around it. So we went and got a new one from Best Buy. When the new one came and when we removed it from the box, it had a large dent in it - a very large one. It clearly indicates a shoddy QC job, as the unit should not have left the factory with such an obvious dent. We asked BEST BUY to replace it, but a new one is not going to come till after Christmas. So it was 2 strikes against GE Microwave ovens for me.We spoke to GE and they were not very sympathetic, and amazingly did not even apologize for the inconvenience caused!! They just stuck to their out-of-warranty mantra, which I understand. But then the occurrence of a second event with another GE Microwave, and the inconvenience of sending back a big dented one was also not acknowledged or perhaps even understood by their CS representative. So it is strike 3 against GE Appliances for me.I would never recommend GE microwaves and was totally disappointed with the Customer service of the GE Appliance division. I also have GE Cooktop and two GE wall ovens and shudder to think what will happen if they should break down. Just sharing a sad experience that holds some lessons for me and my family and friends. (Rethink buying GE Appliances.)

I purchased the dishwasher in August. In September, two months later, it would not drain. GE sent a service tech out under warranty who found food particles stuck in the drain pump, removed them, put the dishwasher back together and went on his way. Since then, we have been basically rinsing the dishes clean before even putting them into the dishwasher as, obviously, this dishwasher cant handle much. I have also been keeping the drain filter screen spotless. Two months later, the drain is clogged again. GE sent a second tech out who said that the first tech should have repaired the dishwasher. The problem is that GE knows that the drain pump screen and the filter screens are inadequate and let food to pass through and block the pump. GE has redesigned the pump and the screens and filters and even added a filter to the design and we will get all these new parts installed for free and the dishwasher will then work as it should. Tech ordered the parts on 12/21. The service call was scheduled for tomorrow, 12/27. I got a call today from GE saying the parts had not been delivered. I know this because they are being shipped to my house and they have not arrived. GE called to reschedule the service call to January 6th, 2020--another week and a half away!!!! Clearly, this dishwasher is not working as it should and GE has a problem on their hands. I am now weighing my options as I sit on hold on GEs Customer Service line as I wait for someone to complain to. But as the dishwasher is still only a few months old, I am tempted to load it up and bring it back to the big box retailer from whom I purchased it and demand a refund. This is ridiculous!!!!

I purchased my machine in 2019. The only concern I have with this machine is that I’m never sure of the amount of water that fills the tub with some features that I’m not used to. The tub on this machine enables me to wash very large loads including my queen size quilt. After washing, my clothes are practically dried which cuts down on my electric bill for the dryer. The drain and spin feature allows for a drier finish. Everything else is good. As long as you’re using the right soap the clothes are the cleanest.

It was the first time I took it out. I called GE told them I thought it was B.S. They said, No problem, we will give you 15% off and free shipping. Only problem was they wanted $47. 20-month old G.E. Space Saver microwave (HVM1540) started to fizzle out by showing signs of running, but not heating; display flickering on and off with odd symbols; and vent, at times, not able to turn off unless I unplugged the whole unit. Anyhow, brand new home with brand new GE appliances, and I have had to replace the ice maker three times in my GE Profile refrigerator, and now this, my microwave. Service department stated that if I pay for the service call and the magnetron, they could guarantee the part for 5 years. But if it should go out, I would have to pay for labor again. Labor is guaranteed for 30 days. No thank you. I am very disappointed in GE products. Single mom, on a single income in rough economic times, I cant afford to purchase GE products again, and again, and again.

This GE dishwasher is not designed to last. The exterior outlook is unfortunately poor. It is not water conservative, makes noise during the cycle, does not dry dishes very well which inevitably means a poor conductor of heat. I will not buy anything like this product again! I wish I can get something that is economical and energy efficient this time around. I have spent unnecessary amount of monies trying to get a good dishwasher that can serve the purpose over the years and still cannot get one. You guys need to do the needful by manufacturing good products that consumers like me can depend on. It is high time I get my moneys worth!

The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working
The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working in June 2020, after the nuclear reactor “blew up”. Which could have been a dangerous situation. I was told by Assurant Insurance Company that it was no longer covered by the 1 year insurance policy, and if I purchased a new policy for $241.00, they would repair it or replace it. After they discovered it was not repairable, they denied the ”replace it” part and reimbursed the money for the policy. GE agreed to sell me a new microwave at a discounted price, which I agreed to. The replacement microwave was delivered damaged, in October 2020. After many calls and waiting hours on hold, service came out and said it was “not repairable“. Again, phone calls to GE Customer Relations and reexplaining the problem, I was told they did not have a microwave in stock to replace it. However, after further searching, one was found, and would be delivered. On 10/23/20, I received a phone call from the freight company that the microwave was being delivered the following day, but they had the wrong address! it was a previous address. Where that address came from is a mystery as we never had GE appliances delivered to that address. The freight company was not authorized to change the address in the system, so another call to GE. I am still waiting for a new microwave! I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have called GE, waited on hold or call-back, waited for service, and been told I have the wrong case number. I have all new GE Profile appliances, all have had service for problems. I will NEVER buy another GE appliance. Their service department and Customer Relations department is disorganized and incompetent. GE appliance are not quality products.

Purchased a GE Profile (oven and microwave unit) for over $3000.00 seven years ago. The protective coating on the interior of the microwave completely wore off down to the metal under the wheels of the turntable. GE calls this minor chipping (which it is not), advises to stop using the product, and offers a $100.00 off a new GE unit because they cannot fix it. The product should be recalled, just like Honda did when their Pilots were peeling.

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

GE brags about employing its own service technicians yet, when I called to schedule an appointment to fix our Advantium 120 microwave (3 years old), they told me that unless I provided proof of purchase to the technician, he would charge me even for parts under warranty such as the magnetron tube. This in spite of the fact that they have all the purchase information at their fingertips, as I reported when we registered our purchase. They even told me our date of purchase, had our address, email address, etc. They dismissed my suggestion that an email from them to me that I could show the technician should suffice. After 3 years and severe family health issues, I have sadly misplaced the proof of purchase, not realizing that registering the appliance for warranty provided no real benefit; not even proof that I didnt steal the thing. I am saddened that a company of the former stature of GE would stoop so low to avoid a legitimate warranty repair.

A few years ago, I purchased a brand new GE microwave oven. A week ago the microwave oven stopped working. I contacted an Appliance Repair company for repair. When the tech came & disassembled the microwave oven, he discovered pliers inside the oven. We took pictures of it (BTW, it wasnt the cause of the problem). I contacted GE to alert them of this & they told me that the robots that assembled the microwave oven probably dropped it in there. Then they said they will send a tech to my residence to investigate. I told them that the pliers was removed & the microwave oven is fixed & assembled. Nonetheless they sent a tech anyway. I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing any GE products. They proved their products are a safety hazard & they dont care about the consumer nor their safety. All they care about is taking your $$$.

Cost of washer $749.95 plus 4-yr warranty, install and hoses, $273 equals $1,023 for this GE stainless interior tall tub dishwasher GLD8700N20BB that only lasted 6 years and 4 months. It wont run, wont fill with water, nothing. Six years. Time to buy again. My advice, buy a cheap one and replace it every 36 months and forget the extended warranty. Installed: Sept. 2009. Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. We purchased the GE Cafe series appliances back in mid-2016 (dishwasher, dual oven gas range and microwave). Over that time period we have had at least 10 repair claims. The dishwasher front door and seal have been replaced three times, has ruined my wood floors and baseboards. The gas range has had multiple issues, including broken lights, broken fan, and a manufacturers defect in the lower oven igniter which took our reseller and third-party warranty company three weeks to repair. The microwave oven had a plastic cover just break off one day - wasnt touched before - it just cracked off!Fortunately we purchased the units through Home Depot and purchased their extended warranty program. Unfortunately the warranty company doesnt replace units and wont include claims during the manufacturers 1-year warranty period in their lemon law policy. Ive repeatedly tried getting touch with the manufacturer, but they appear to be staying high-and-dry away from consumer grievances.GE doesnt stand behind their products. I dont think their resellers give a rip either. My advice - stay away from GE. If youre in the market for something Id look at LG. I have a refrigerator, washer and dryer from LG and have had zero issues in nearly 10 years of service. I have no idea if their reliability covers dishwashers, but Id certainly take a look.

I contacted by phone GEs customer service department (800-386-1215) on 2 separate occasions. The most recent was on 2/18/13. About 4 1/2 years ago, when we purchased our new house, we bought all new GE appliances for our kitchen and laundry room. My biggest complaint is with our dishwasher. The top and bottom racks are rusting and most of the prongs have broken off as a result. This should not happen for an appliance that is only about 4 1/2 years old. Their response was that I could purchase both the top and bottom rack. Why would I purchase the same racks only to have it happen again? Clearly this is happening because they used a poor quality steel. There was a recall not too long ago on our dishwasher and the service tech who came out to fix the recall couldnt believe how badly the racks have rusted. I understand there is no warranty; however, you would think or hope that the racks would last a lot longer than 4 1/2 years. I am very disappointed in the quality and the lack of help regarding this matter.

Our dishes come out of the dishwasher with a film on them and do not look clean at all. I called GE in July. So, we called GE back. We have since had two additional repair men out. Neither one has been able to repair the dishwasher. The last repairman replaced a valve he thought might be broken. However, it is still working the same. I am absolutely disgusted with the experience I have had with GE.

We are on our second GE Profile Series 60ssf dishwasher. The first one began to leak all over the floor. The store replaced it with a new one. We have had our present one about ten months. The first several months it did great and we loved it. The last two months we have noticed the dishwasher not drying our dishes. We have talked with the store several times to make sure we are doing all the right things. We are using sanitary level, power dry, Rinse Aid. We have had two technicians out and according to their computer it does not detect anything wrong. Interesting. The temperatures of the water quoted by the two were 60 degrees different. So what else is different? We received a call from supposed management of customer services saying, since the technicians could not find anything wrong, that we will have to live with whatever is going on. They will do nothing more.BUYER BEWARE! The GE brand used to be good, but not anymore. At least not in dishwashers. I definitely would not recommend this dishwasher to anyone even though it is top of the line, supposedly the best in proficiency. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?

I had trouble from the beginning; the dishes came out hazy. When I called GE, they said to use the recommended detergent; I did. The dishes came out hazy and smelled like detergent. They messed around long enough with that and getting someone out to fix the controls, which did not work properly, until enough time lapsed and I could not get a refund. The dishwasher turned itself on after a power outage. It was not running when the power went out and was running non-stop for God knows how long before it was noticed. This happened at Thanksgiving time, and they had service out at 6 weeks so I had to do Thanksgiving dishes by hand. After that, they postponed for another 2 weeks. I got a replacement dishwasher, thanks to the Home Depot Manager. The dishes come out stinky and hazy; sometimes, there is visible soap residue on the glassware. I even ran the dishes through a second no detergent cycle and still had residue on the dishes. The controls do not work. We have to turn the power on and close the door 3 or 4 times before it will come on. We are afraid to leave the circuit breaker on when we leave as we are unsure if it will start on its own like the first one did. It is also the worst designed layout for loading any dishes. This is totally unacceptable as soap residue causes intestinal difficulties, and you should not have to be afraid that your dishwasher will take on a life of its own and start. I highly recommend you do not waste your money on this dishwasher. GE has extremely poor customer support. Home Depot support was great. This makes two GE Profile Dishwasher in less than a year and two strike outs. They will not get the chance for a third out. We are getting a KitchenAid.

Purchased my first GE dishwasher 3 -4 years ago, it died, one month before the warranty ran out, they sent a repairman at no charge, acted like he did not know what he was doing, mumbled something about a part and left saying they would return with a part 2 weeks later he comes back and says that they cannot fix it and they sent me a replacement dishwasher free of charge, 13 months later and it died, So I bought a more expensive GE dishwasher thinking it would last, wrong, 15 months later and its dead, went to parts select and troubleshooted it, ordered all parts recommended to fix the issue and its still dead, these parts cost me 300, so I contacted GE to see what they had to say, no help at all except to only charge me for 50% of parts, I have to pay for house call and labor and installation, gee what a deal NOT bottom line, GE dishwashers are junk, dont buy them.

My microwave also began peeling under the glass within a few years after we purchased it. I contacted GE and they claimed they never heard of that type of complaint before and there was no recall. I knew it could not be just my appliance that was doing this. It is peeling A LOT under the turning dish, but unfortunately I cant afford to buy another oven/micro appliance now. When I can IT WILL NOT BE A GE!!!

I purchased this dishwasher in Sept 2017. Today after normal use, the motor stopped and it leaked a full load of water into my basement. I called GE service and got no satisfaction. Its out of warranty after 12 months. I then called their customer care department who really dont care very much. They wanted a GE tech to look at the dishwasher for a fee of $109. Then they offered 50% discount on parts. In the past, GE was always a reliable brand but no longer. Stay away from their dishwashers and every other appliance they make. It is not the GE of old. I just purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher and hopefully, that will work better.

GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014.
GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014. Dishwasher worked well for a short period of time. Six months into ownership the unit began to leak and was quickly and efficiently repaired while under warranty. 10 months into warranty, the dishwasher began to rumble very loudly during every drain cycle, to the point where it sounded like it was going to walk out of the kitchen. Warranty tech showed up and had to order parts. Not sure which pump to replace he ordered both. Tech returns 10 days later and replaces both pumps. He turns power back on and the entire unit is dead electrically. Nothing works, pumps, motors, keypad, nada! Repair keypad was ordered along with a new wiring harness, just in case it was the source of the problem.2 weeks later, and one week before warranty expires, the repairman shows up and replaces the keypad and wiring harness. Yippie skippie, everything works but the tech is still confused, telling me the keypad lights should turn off at the end of the cleaning cycle, he could never make that happen. He completes his repairs on December 23. The unit performs flawlessly for 3 complete cycles, except the lights on the keypad never turn off at the end of the cleaning cycles.Sometime during the week of January 11-17 (while I was traveling) the unit dies again. Completely inoperable electrically. Follow up call with GE warranty service and the entire focus is on the fact that the warranty has expired. I keep pressing and the warranty person finally admits that service parts should carry a 30 day warranty. Service tech arrives and tells me he has to order parts. Keypad has been back ordered and I have no idea when it will show up.Totally unreliable expensive piece of junk. I can only imagine what the future holds. This experience seems to mimic Jack Welchs business philosophy to a tee - maximize profit and return to the shareholders while minimizing production costs and ignoring the customer needs completely. Highly recommend that you run any direction except towards purchasing any GE appliance, especially the Cafe series. Dishwasher. Nonexistent quality controls, no parts available, disappointing performance, extremely high price, P.O.S! DO NOT PURCHASE GE APPLIANCES. Negative Stars rating is what I would give this product. It will for good recycle materials at the scrap yard, sooner than later I am afraid!

According to the label in my GE Sensor microwave oven, it was manufactured in October 2010. I dont know how long after that time I purchased it. The paint on the ceiling is falling off and what hasnt fallen off is bubbling up over the entire surface, exposing bare metal. There is also missing paint on the floor of the oven. I called GE today and was told by a representative that it is a fire hazard and I should stop using it. She said I must have used a harsh chemical, but I have used nothing but dish detergent and water on paper towels. There should be a recall of these ovens, and GE needs to improve the quality of the paint. The microwave is not that old, and this should not have happened!

We purchased a GE Cafe Dishwasher in Oct. 2013, and in Nov 2014 we had a major leak that ruined our hardwood floor. We called GE and they authorized a repair even though our Dishwasher was 1 month beyond the 1 year warranty. Unfortunately is now the end of January 2015 and the dishwasher is still not fixed after 4 attempts by their recommended factory authorized repair company. I have called and written numerous documenting the failed attempt and inability of the repair company to fix our dishwasher, and asked for a replacement, and was denied. They have already spent about $900 to pay the repair company, which I would think would have been cheaper to have replaced the dishwasher and had a satisfied customer. So I have now been without an operational dishwasher for 2 months while it sits in the middle of my kitchen floor, as I wait for the cupping in my hardwood floor to lay down so I can get my floor repaired. Needless to say, I am very displeased with the quality of the GE Cafe dishwasher.

I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

We purchased 3 GE Profile Appliances when we remodeled our kitchen. It turns out that they are junk. The microwave and the refrigerator have had to be repaired several times and the dishwasher went downhill very fast and we had to replace it as it was not cleaning the dishes correctly. We now are living with a microwave that has peeling paint that I hope is not damaging our health that they would not do anything about. And a refrigerator that was repaired today at the cost of almost $400 and it still is not cooling down. So now I have to wait 48 hours for another service call. Dont buy GE unless you want Junk!

Summer 2013, I used it and everything seemed fine. That night I heard something and the microwave turned on by itself! Thank goodness I was at the house. Due to my hectic work schedule, my dishwasher was installed about 2 weeks later. 5. Dishwasher was not cleaning. 6. Technician came out another week later and I was told it was MISSING parts from the manufacturing plant and should have never passed QC. In addition, It was missing the bottom spinner and the top spinner was snapped off. The technician glued it back on.7. I bought a GE Profile dishwasher 3 years ago. After two weeks it was broken. I called Mabe Appliances and they sent out a tech. He told me it was broken. When I called Mabe back the service people told me to read the manual...yes really. Finally after a lot arguing they replaced it. About a day after the 1 year warranty expired all but one of the cycles stopped working. I have to take it apart every 3 months to clean out the water output as its clogged and the water doesnt have any pressure and therefore does not clean the dishes. I got up this morning and the dishwasher was still running but there were no lights on the front of the unit. I turned it on around 8pm so it was running for 11 hours. When I opened the door it was apparent it had been stuck in the wash cycle the whole time. It is now completely dead. Nothing works. No lights. WHAT a piece of JUNK. How can GE put their name this crap? STAY AWAY FROM GE APPLIANCES. Spend a little more and get a Samsung or LG or Bosch.

I had my original microwave for 20+ years. I replaced it in 2009 with a GE Model HVM1540DN188. Started beeping in middle of night a week ago, with message keyboard shorted service needed. I unplugged several times and it would start coming on by itself. I cannot believe they dont warranty their shoddy keyboards. I am very angry. I think they should stand by and replace their keyboards free of charge since they are fully aware they are making deficient product. This is scary to have an appliance just start beeping and say shorted... luckily I had my original wired in microwave replaced and put in a plug in or I would have flipped out if I could not unplug it. I got this along with the GE stove... so far the stove is not beeping...

We bought a microwave oven (CVM1790SS2SS, ZA301193K) for our new house some 4.5 yers ago. The flimsy, but very shiny, metal cover on the door handle split and the resulting sharp, but hidden, edge cut my finger. We covered it up with scotch tape, and ordered a replacement for the handle. We paid GE $102 (other folk sell it for $76, as we later discovered). There were no useable installation instructions. Our extremely competent handyman could not figure out how to do it and called GE for help at 800 636-2005. He was rudely dismissed and was told to look for instructions on Youtube! He spent 2 hours to install the replacement part. The screws that came with it, were not quite right. Ill never buy another GE appliance in my life. The Item was ordered by Ellen ** (It was shipped on 1/17/2017).

GE microwave model JES1344ES. This is a stainless steel with black accent 1.34 cubic foot microwave oven. It looks great. The micro is heavy for its size. The stainless steel is brushed and low luster finish. The door handle is chrome as is some of the other accent pieces. The push button panel is easy to read and has a large knob for making manual time adjustments. The light inside is very bright. There is a rotating platter in the oven compartment that is not knocked off of its guide rollers very easy. The push button panel is a glossy black material that is easy to attract fingerprints. The preset times that are programmed in the microwave is the only part of the product that could be an issue. For example the popcorn button when used has burnt all of the different brands of microwave popcorn that we have tried. It is set about 30 seconds too long. There is no way to adjust the preset time that I can figure out. We set the time with the large knob manually and the popcorn comes out just fine. The preset times for the Auto Defrost are also a bit off. They are not long enough. We also have a Subzero freezer set at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit so that may be too cold for the defrost presets. Overall the microwave is great except for the preset times that Ive mentioned. We use it daily and have done so for five years. It still looks excellent inside and out.
