We are extremely careful when we use these ovens. Regardless, we have replaced the door hinges six times in the past two years and the blower fan once. If I clean the oven, the doors lock and remain locked when completely cool. This has happened numerous times, also. This is a high end appliance that is junk!

Kitchen Aid range KESK901SSS08 - The cooling fan which runs when the oven is turned on is EXTREMELY loud and has a loud whistling sound which resonates throughout our entire home. Kitchen Aid has said there is nothing wrong with the fan motor and therefore will not honor a return or replacement of this unit. This unit was delivered August 5, 2014 and was not in use until a few weeks later when the oven was first used. We are STUCK with an expensive range which we cannot use!

We purchased the KUDS30IXWH in November of 2014. The unit works perfectly to our great satisfaction. Extremely quiet and dishes/glass are sparkling clean. We have only used the Normal Cycle. Cannot vouch for the other ones. At delivery the unit looked great. No problems were visible. Suddenly three months later blemishes/spots/watermarks mysteriously appeared on the white front panel. We tried every possible way to remove them. When wet they disappear but all reappear as soon as the surface dries up. Very strange! We are trying to find out whether other people experienced the same problem before contacting the company.

My architect series built in fridge was purchased in 2008 along with my other same series appliances. On January 11, 2014 it stopped working. After several service calls the circuit board has been returned for a second time to be rebuilt. It is February 22 and I still am waiting for a repair. The expected wait time going forward is 3 more weeks! This refrigerator cost $6000!!! KitchenAid has dropped the ball big time and all of my friends and myself will never be customers again. It takes time to build a reputation.... This company has lost all credibility.

After 2 years of light use (empty nesters) machine would not start. Service tech (not Whirlpool connected) said board was bad. To replace cost was almost $400 with a 30 day warranty. A 30 day warranty? Seriously? This dishwasher replaced another KitchenAid that never worked right & completely failed after 3 years. Now going to Bosch. KitchenAid will never be my choice again! KSSO Built In Refrigerator - Today I received the word that the computer P/N W10219462 was manufactured in Japan and the tsunami destroyed the factory. The inventory of this computer part is zero. My $8,000 refrigerator just became scrap metal. It is less than 6 yrs. old. If there is a U.S. regulation that parts be maintained for 10 years, why are these not available from another sub-contractor? I am assuming they were defective to begin with or the computer assembly sub-contractor was so shortsighted they neglected to back up the specs. I am waiting to hear from the Whirlpool committee as to their solution or their offer. There is also a problem with a custom cabinet door to be considered. Merry Christmas! 12/15/14

KFIV29PCMS00 - We got that fridge on January 2014 - so its 2 years and 4 months. The icemaker has never been performant - slow to make ice, but were not using it much so we didnt complained. About a year after we noticed iced was starting to build at the back of the top cabinet near the ice maker. We phone to KitchenAid and were told it was normal and to not worry about since the performance was the same. Yet 2 weeks ago we found all the ice was melting - cubes were soft and wet. We turned it off, but the next day we found the freezer was also melting, then all the refrigerator was not providing cold air at all. Called KitchenAid, the clerk is telling me nothing Ive said is under warranty. Then I told her Have you ever heard about Legal Warranty, and 30 secs later she came back and told me I will have nothing to pay.2 days later, the tech finally came in and said, the second evaporator had a leak so all the coolant leaked out and he had to replace it and also replace all the ice cube mechanism. A week later he comes back with all the parts to do the repair, but then as he opened the back cabinet he found it was filled with stains and black mold. All that comes from the water leaking from the ice maker, dripping inside the fridge and accumulating, then evaporating (from the anti-ice). So we were unaware of that water accumulating inside the cabinet (not accessible) and gradually forming mold (black mold and worst). Now my kitchen is full with refrigerator parts everywhere. The tech has gone as he doesnt want to work on the rotten refrigerator, and Im being ping pong at KitchenAid service and no one is telling me what to do and what will happened. The tech told me the cabinet cannot be replaced and cleaning all that mold is almost impossible. In other words he can only think about replacing the fridge altogether but KitchenAid is not responding. We paid high $$ (almost $3k) thinking we would be free of such problems, but were ending up with that situation after only 2 years. The previous fridge lasted 18 years and never had any issue before 17 years, and the one before that was second hand and lasted 20 years. Im pretty mad and discourage.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

This top of the line KitchenAid refrigerator has not worked properly since Day 1. One problem after another. Whirlpool Corporation is a disgusting company to deal with. Told they will repair, but never allow a return. Every time we had a service technician come out, they would say something different from the previous technician. Whirlpool said they needed to pull the whole ceiling out, including wiring, to stick in a small foam pad to correct a problem issue with this model rather than replace this Lemon. They knew all the problems this French door model had but refused to fix them properly. Both refrigerator and freezer made me lose expensive medication and groceries more than once. They would not reimburse.

I purchased a KitchenAid side by side with french doors and an in-door ice maker. It retailed for around $3,000 and is by far the worst appliance I have ever owned. Periodically it runs very noisily. If the refrigerator door is left open for more that a brief moment, the ice in the bin begins to melt and fuses together and must be dumped. I have replaced the ice maker four times in the six years I have owned this refrigerator. Ridiculous for any unit but especially one in this price bracket. I attempted to contact customer service to discuss the fourth replacement of the ice maker but simply received a form letter indicating that they have no obligation once the warranty runs out. With all the other manufacturers available, select from one of those!

We bought a top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher 1.5 years ago. We only use it on the weekends for 2 people. The motor recently froze which prompted a service call. Five weeks and they still have not fixed the problem. Parts of backorder, incompetent repair people, and a general lack of caring by KitchenAid. We have also had our high end refrigerator break down without being able to be repaired and another dishwasher with two motor repairs. Cheap products and poor quality all around. Would not recommend KitchenAid ever!!!

I purchased an all new KitchenAid appliances in 2006 and have had major problems with them. The microwave was a fire hazard because it would randomly start on its own with nothing in it. A service technician was out several times to repair it (three trips in all). Now, the electric range (Model: KESA907PSS02) is not working again! We had the electronic range control and the touch pad replaced within the first year. They were covered under warranty. The same problem occurred this month and KitchenAid (Shari) will do nothing to remedy the problem. The cost to repair the range will be well over $450.00 if we have a technician do the work. I spoke with Shari from KitchenAid and she was not the least bit supportive or apologetic. She kept saying that it was no longer under warranty and there was nothing she could do. They have very poor customer service given my ongoing appliance issues. She was well aware of my appliance issues but was not at all concerned or helpful in providing assistance. We paid more money for the KitchenAid appliances than what we could have spent on other brands because we thought that we were getting premium appliances (definitely not so). Paying more does not mean that they are better! I will never purchase another KitchenAid product and will share my experience with others. They have horrible customer service and poor overpriced products. Shame on them for taking advantage of consumers and not providing a product that stands the test of time. I have paid for this range twice due to the repair costs over the years and I cannot afford to do so especially in these economic times. KitchenAid needs to address consumer satisfaction and produce a better product that warrants the high price tag.

KitchenAid model KUDE70FXSS Dishwasher - Bought this unit in 2011. Out of the box, the control panel never worked right. I would frequently have to reset by unplugging and re-plugging the machine to get it to work. 3 years in, the control panel died and was replaced by the appliance store under an extended warranty. The top rack wheels have broken off twice and been replaced. Bottom rack wheels have broken off once and been replaced. Top rack after 6 years is peeling and rusted. Dishes will not clean completely unless you wash them first (kind of defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher) and the prowash cycle takes forever to run. All this time my wife has said, “We paid a lot for it and we will make it work.” FINALLY last week, a rubber spatula fell on the heating element and burned badly... stunk up the whole house. After days of fighting trying to get the burnt smell out unsuccessfully, I got my wife to agree to get rid of it and buy a new dishwasher.... It is NOT a KitchenAid. All that is left now is to get rid of the stove and refrigerator (yeah the stove/oven dont work much better).

I own a KitchenAid gas range Mod. KGSS907SSS01. Its only eight yrs old and I’ve only had problems since I got it from self-cleaning (which I decided not use this future anymore) because I was just wasting my money every time I use I had the same black down and paid for repairs, oven that doesn’t heat up or is inconsistent to cheap top insert elements the brick easily (i.e. insert for large left burner) it just fell apart while cleaning... I would not recommend anyone to buy this model thinking you are getting top of line. PLEASE STAY AWAY!When I contact Whirlpool for help or tip on how to replace parts myself they rudely offer me to contact their tech repair person to come to my place and basically ** me financially with high prices to repair my unit that is all I’m left with. I feel I paid high price for this unit and I expect to get better response from Manufacture since they are aware of the issues with this range. I’ve come across many complaints about this model As I searched for solution on web. Again, stay away from KitchenAid/Whirlpool ranges.

We did a gut rehab kitchen remodel in 2012. Consumer Reports magazine point
We did a gut rehab kitchen remodel in 2012. Consumer Reports magazine pointed us to the best refrigerator and other appliances (virtually all KitchenAid). Everything (layout, space, ice maker and filtered water) was great with the refrigerator for 3 years. In late August, 2015 we started seeing water dripping from the freezer door onto the floor. Fortunately not hardwood flooring, but wooden cabinet enclosure got a bit wet and is damaged. Bottom line - after a couple of hopeful attempts assuming it might be the ice maker or the high humidity, the problem persisted and we called the dealer for repair. I asked the tech if hes seen this problem and he honestly answered Yes, a lot. He explained that the part to fix it would be free of charge, and that I would need to pay $164 for the service call. To the dealers credit, I was told on the phone that the minimum for a service call is $164. With this fresh info from the tech whos working on the refrigerator real time, things recalibrate.... If a manufacturer has a lot of the same problem happening, the product should be recalled and owners notified. From there, repairs should be gratis. While the tech was still at the house, I googled the problem and see many youtube videos and write ups about this problem which is a small black rubber check valve that gunks up and then backs up water into the freezer. The floor of the freezer becomes a mini skating rink, and when theres no room left for water down there, it leaks out the front of the freezer. I called the dealer while the tech was still at the house and plead my case. They did call back and agreed to pick up half of the service call. They tried KitchenAid and were unsuccessful. A couple days later, I called KitchenAids large appliance customer service and they stuck to their guns. The rep gave me the usual apology said theres nothing he could do. I asked for his supervisor. I waited a few minutes and finally spoke to a woman who listened, said sorry, and then when I asked for her manager, she refused to pass me up the line saying that she was as far as I was going to take this. $82 isnt the issue. Customer service or lack thereof, and a corporate decision to let the consumers be guinea pigs to figure this wet mess out for themselves is what frosts me. I wonder how long before I have a wet floor beneath the freezer again. Consumer Reports or not, Im done with KitchenAid, its products, and its affiliated companies.

Model # KUDL021RBS4 - As two retired old folks, we use a lot of paper plates and have used our expensive all stainless dishwasher no more than three times a month. It was purchased from Lowes 2007. A month ago, the LEDs on the control panel started flashing. Wife called KA and they connected us to a tech. No problem, he says, change the circuit board. No problem, I say. I build computer up from parts. Ill change out the part from Whirlpool. The washer worked once and the lights started flashing again. Washer wont run. The internet chat line person knew nothing about that. He sent me a copy of what was included with the owners manual that doesnt reflect the actual model. Question is, do I waste another $250 with further service calls and parts or do I buy a disposable one for only $247 and give up on those pretty premium expensive disposable appliances? Samsung did me wrong, now Kitchen Dis-Aid. Why pay more? Whats the point?

We purchased a Kitchen Aid counter-depth refrigerator in July 2021. By September it stopped working and has been inoperable since (4 months later). We have had 7 service appointments during this time; each time the technician assured us the issue was repaired but the fridge never got below 76 degrees. We requested a replacement refrigerator several times but were told the warranty would only cover repairs and we were locked into using their repair service provider. I purchased a new refrigerator (KitchenAid refrigerator kfs25xvms9) that throws ice everywhere. I had a repairman come to look at it and I was told to use a bigger glass. If I go to something bigger, then I will be using a bowl. This has been embarrassing because I have to tell everyone who comes to the house to Stop! Let me get a bowl or the ice will end up on the floor! I have all new appliances and I was told what I was buying was good stuff but I have to use a bowl to get ice. My question is, why have they not recalled the plastic piece that is supposed to put the ice in the glass? If I had been able to try it out in the store, I certainly would not have bought this model. I really hope that Whirlpool will stand behind what they sell and recall this plastic piece and replace it with one that will do the job. If I do not receive some satisfaction on this matter, then I will contact the Better Business Bureau.

I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator and Microwave Oven Combo which are 8 years old. The refrigerator went out on 11/26. My warranty was out so they sold me a 1-year extended for $429.00. A&E came out on December 3 to fix the refrigerator. The repair guy said it was the circuit board and would order it. He said it would take 1 week to get the part. The part never showed up and A&E called to find out if I received the part. The repair guy told me to move the fan to keep the refrigerator cool. He told me the part is back ordered until January 19. Now I am out of a refrigerator and freezer. I lost over $400 in food. I called KitchenAid back to get a tracking number for the part. They told me the part is due in on December 19th so I booked another appointment. After 15 calls to A&E and KitchenAid, I found out the part is now discontinued! And the reason is that KitchenAid stopped making it. But the system had a glitch and no one knew it was not coming in. Four weeks and still there is no working refrigerator. A&E came out to pull the circuit board to have it rebuilt. Another week before its fixed or is it? I called to get some sort of compensation and answers but again no one knows what is going on. I got mixed answers to my questions. I will never buy another KitchenAid appliance! Then the spring on my microwave/oven went out. They sold me another warranty for $350.

During a dinner party the week before Christmas, the oven door exploded in my 2 month old, second use of Superba model #KEB-277, which original cost is nearly $2,500. It took me being a proactive consumer, spending about 1/2 hour a day for 6 weeks for the final repair to take place. The first warranty repair company just did not show up for an appointment. Finally, it took to making two appointments with different companies just to make sure someone showed up to look at the problem. Second company was wonderful - however, it still took me being involved with KitchenAid Safety Division”, their customer service and HHGregg (who told me it wasnt their problem since the 30 day warranty had expired! ), to finally get pieces to repair the door.Since neither KitchenAid nor HHGregg saw any need to replace a defective product, I insisted on all 2 new pieces of glass, a new steel shell that had been dented with the explosion, and all new racks. The problem is behind me, but I will never purchase another KitchenAid appliance nor buy any product at HHGregg.

Fridge purchased May 2015. Lid for cheese drawer kept falling off whenever opened and puddle kept forming on floor below bottom freezer. New cheese drawer lid ordered, still didnt fit properly so technician had to shim the sides and now there is a gap on either side where debris could collect and cant be cleaned out. Door on bottom freezer deemed to be warped causing it not to seal properly, thus huge frost accumulation on inside of freezer and bouts of thawing causes puddles on floor in front. Waited 2 months for a new freezer door, arrived and when technician went to install found it also was warped. Now have to wait another 2 months for a second try. Whole unit is substandard. I asked for a replacement fridge. Of course, they refuse but they are happy to keep making repairs. I am not happy to have to make myself available for repeated visits by technician for a problem that remains unfixed.

I purchased a resale home with existing KitchenAid appliances (four years old). In the short time I lived in my new home, I have seen multiple issues that doesnt seem normal to me. During cooking and when self-cleaning the oven, all the sensors turn off automatically including the clock and will turn back on its own after about an hour. It almost seem like the stove is overloaded even with one burner on. When I pressed the turn off button, it beeps and wouldnt turn the light off. It has been three hours and the light is still on and this concerns me very much as this is a safety issue for my family. I unplugged the stove and plugged it back in but the light is still on.

In Nov. 2017 we installed KitchenAid double ovens, model KODE500EBS02. The ovens look very nice, but they are not for bakers. They take 10 to 15 minutes to preheat, they do not brown bake goods on the bottom, and they take longer to bake an item. The baked item is never done by the suggested time on a recipe. The ovens also bake hotter in the back. These were very expensive, so I am stuck with them, however, I would not recommend them to anyone else.

We purchased a Kitchen Aid Refrigerator (Model KRFF507ESS, 27 cu. ft, French door with ice/water machine) and in the 4 years weve had it, weve spent almost 50% of the purchase price (close to $1300) on repairs. This model has a documented problem with the frozen fresh food evaporator - Google the issue and youll find numerous customer complaints about this very issue. Most recently, the ice maker stopped working and we were told itd be an additional $455 of repair. The authorized service repairman in our area (whom weve gotten to know due to the ongoing repair issues) even commented during this most recent visit that the KitchenAid models hes serviced last, on average, 8 years. When I explained the situation to KitchenAid Customer Service this afternoon, they offered to schedule a non-warranty service for me (i.e., something I could literally do by picking up the phone myself). After being transferred to a KitchenAid supervisor, I was then told that theyd offer me a 40% discount off a brand new product. After spending almost $1300 on a $2600 refrigerator! AS IF. We will never purchase KitchenAid again. We thought we were purchasing a quality product and its been nothing but a lemon, requiring costly repair after costly repair. We take impeccable care of all appliances/products, which is what made this situation all the more frustrating. Folks, be sure you purchase those extended warranties! You will need them with your KitchenAid refrigerator!!!!

Unfortunately, I am joining a long list of customers who purchased the Kitchen Aid Superba microwave oven/oven built-in combination. After less than 5 years, the bottom oven door locks, without warning or just cause. KitchenAid is aware of this manufacturer defect, but chooses to ignore it, and refuse to resolve this issue. Turning off the circuit breaker should reset the computer, but dont count on it. The other solution you may be given is to turn on the self clean feature, cancel it after 2-3 minutes, and hopefully it will unlock. I am appalled that managers like Kia (ID 8592), has no concern for customers. Kia basically stated that after one year, warranties expire, it becomes the customers problem. The licensed technicians are stumped to fix the problem, but wont tell you until they collect a service call fee. What is even more outrageous is the model and serial number are inside the oven, but when the door is locked, you cannot not see the number. It is a no-brainer to relocate the model and serial number, so it is accessible when the oven locks up, because it will. The bottomline is, a class action lawsuit needs to be filed, and a national recall needs to go into effect. Please send me an email if you want to be included in this lawsuit. Send facts with your complete information to **. This is an obvious manufacturer defect which is a hazard. The oven light will not turn off, and the oven door locks for no apparent reason. I am writing to the president Mark Bitzer and the CEO Jeff Fettig about the issues that should be a concern to them. Others experiencing this problem should write to them at ** Benson, MI 49022.

So dissatisfied with my Whisper Quiet + dishwasher that I sought out this forum to warn others not to purchase a Kitchenaid. We have owned this dishwasher for quite some time, and while it has been relatively trouble-free with regard to repair issues... it does not clean dishes! The ancient, used dishwasher previously owned offered far superior cleansing than this model EVER has. Tonight we are again pulling dishes from the machine to hand wash them, and this has been the norm since its installation. Such a disappointment... we used to think Kitchenaid products were high quality. I own 2 mixers which are great. This dishwasher is terrible (as was a pricey Kitchenaid blender we subsequently gave away). We have followed all recommendations offered for best operation to no avail. If I could afford to replace this model... I would in a heartbeat (widowed). Another deficiency is the long run time. A washing cycle takes well over an hour, and afterward most of the contents still require hand washing. Needless to say, when I can replace this machine it will not be with a Kitchenaid.

During the cleaning, my oven glass exploded! Also, we have just spent $200 to have the microwave door repaired and this is the second time in five years! This time, it almost fell off. My sister has a KitchenAid and her microwave door did the same thing. Our repairman said he sees this all the time with KitchenAid. The oven glass flew everywhere in the oven. This is unacceptable. I so wish I had gone with another oven. This is ridiculous.

I have also purchased a refrigerator. The ice maker is awful...Its too small and doesnt make ice fast enough. The other product from KitchenAid I purchased is a front load washer and dryer. The washer needs to be cleaned all the time. I was not told that. The dryers lint catcher, for a large capacity dryer, is so small, its ridiculous. None of these things were mentioned to me. I would have never purchased these appliance if I knew! Very upset buyer.

My top-of-the-line KitchenAid gas stove has had an electronic control panel
My top-of-the-line KitchenAid gas stove has had an electronic control panel failure twice now. The first time it’s just the oven that would not light and one of the panels (there are evidently 3) was faulty and was replaced under warranty. The second time the electronic control panel short-circuited and turned on the convection fan, which got red hot. Sparks and smoke were coming from under the burners, which is where the panels are located. I was not using the stove at all, but thankfully I was home! I was able to throw the circuit breaker in the basement. When the stove stopped glowing red, I pulled it out from the wall and unplugged it. The repairman that first came is no longer available. I have not been able to find anyone that has a card for both electric and gas. Customer service expressed regret that they could not help me find a repairman, but said to let them know should I find one. What? I will not repair this stove. I consider it an extremely dangerous appliance and do not want it in my house. I feel that Whirlpool should do everything they can to correct the situation for other consumers. Ive found other mention of the same failure with this model.

Whirlpool owns KitchenAid. BUYER BEWARE!! The dishwasher does a good job but God help you if you ever need to use the warranty. Mine has a door leak. The repairman came out 5 times and replaced the tub twice, the door liner, the door, the hinges and the latching mechanism. There is still a 50/50 chance it will leak depending on how hard you slam the door and I do mean SLAM. They have taken up almost 15 hours of my time. The warranty says they will repair or replace the washer. THEY WILL NOT. You are dealing with dishonest people with no integrity. They are like an insurance company and they will do whatever they can to wear you down and not honor their obligations. Do yourself a favor. When looking at products, pass up the KitchenAid items.

We purchased the KUDS201XBL1 in April. To this day, we have only seen the clean light 6 times. We have been through 2 different repair companies, 9 emails to KitchenAid, too many phone calls to count, a new control board, being told to turn up our water heater, being told to run the hot water in the sink every time the machine drains and refills, telling us our pipes are bad, maybe it is the motor, the heating element, the control panel again, etc. What we have determined on our own is that the Pro-Wash & Heavy Duty Cycles will not complete. Normal wash and 1 hour wash will complete occasionally as long as the heat dry option is not on. Currently the latest repairman (an outside vendor who in his defense has really tried to work with the company) is waiting for KitchenAid to get back to him. KitchenAid has already told us our warranty does not include replacement, only repair. Well, at this point, I dont expect we will be getting even the repair had. We have basically paid over $700 for a dish rinser.

The dishwasher functioned marginally for about a year and then got worse. Theoretically, it works, so it cannot be fixed. It runs through the cycle normally, but the dishes do not come out clean. They have grease films, coffee stains, fingerprints, and spots. All of this must be removed by hand washing. Not much point in having a dishwasher. We built our house 3 years ago. We chose a KitchenAid kude48fxss6 for our dishwasher. We chose the higher end model thinking it would be better. The dishwashers 1st issue was in our 2nd year of having it. A gasket of some kind went on the inside. The water during the cycle found the path of least resistance out, and cause a fair bit of water damage to our floor by the time we came home and saw. My husband repaired the dishwasher with a $5 part. The parts store commented that it was a very frequently breakdown on these dishwashers. Next came the plastic nub that connected the top basket to the roller. Each basket has 4 of these nubs. Plastic becomes brittle over time especially when exposed to hot Temps and water. So not surprisingly one broke. And now mother recently the entire connection piece that the baskets roll on has broke.Fortunately my husband has been able to fix these items but its extremely disappointing that we spent good money on such garbage and also have to still repair a damaged section of floor. There isnt any accountability for the disposable garbage these manufacturers make. The use the cheapest components designed to last just long enough though standard warranty so that you are stuck repairing and or replacing. It should be criminal. They should take notes from the Toyota production systems and learn about continuous improvement. Then people would be fistful to the brand and their businesses would thrive rather than their current model of cheat and deceit. Sincerely, a mom of 3 little kids who has better things to do than wash extra dishes.

Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a 42 inch Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model kssc42qmS01 for about $5500. Seven years later, it required a rebuild of the circuit board for about $400. Last month the overtemp warning light was coming on for both the freezer and refrigerator. The authorized repair guy and Kitchen Aid said they could not fix the board due to the Tsunami in Japan. This excuse does not hold water since there are several after market repair shops that fix these boards daily. Just Google Kitchen Aid Control Board and you will find an entire market place of repair shops and used boards. (They all love Kitchen Aid!) If you read the detailed accounts of other pissed off homeowners who got stuck with a large piece of unserviceable junk in their kitchen read on from this website. My favorite is the guy who fixed his own control card for $6. Blaming a Tsunami is a convenient excuse to not fix or service these refrigerators because of underlying design flaws. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fix my board a second time despite the $500 in service calls and emergency repairs. The refrigerator still cant maintain its temperature. Kitchen Aid says theres nothing they can do except offer me a special price which is not better that a good Internet price from an online deep discounter. Keep in mind that this is a built in in a custom kitchen. (The Kitchen was featured in a local Milwaukee Magazine) I cant just rip this 42 inch built in out and put in a stand alone refrigerator because there would be a large gap in the 42 inch cavity not to mention a 3 inch projection even with a counter depth unit. And why would I buy another Kitchen Aid / GE built in when they walk away from their own product? My advise is to stay away from Kitchen Aid / GE built-ins.

I bought this 1st model about 8 years or when it was a new model. After 1 year the rectify started becoming very noisy to the point that you had to shut the bedroom door because of the sound! I bought it at Brandsmart USA and they sent out their tech in 2 weeks after call and ordered some parts and took another 2 weeks to come back and install. Seemed to work fine but soon the problem was back and another 2 weeks and a repeat of the latter! To make it short this went on into my extended warranty which I purchased with fridge. After humorous service calls from different techs they have me a refund and I purchased my 2nd same model rectify believing I had just got a lemon. Well to my surprise it began after about a year later with the same problems! I lost many days of work and pounds of food in this experience and was told this was going to be replaced also but to this day I have to defrost freezer and rectify about every 30 days. Every time we use the self clean program, the oven locks up and blows the high limit. This is the third time that we have had a service tech out to repair this wall oven today. He said that he had to replace the blower fan. Its because the old one did not produce enough CFH to keep the oven jacket cool near where the limit is. So, today was another $350.00 added to what we already paid for service calls! I called the customer service number again to register my concerns. The fellow at the other end of the line said that there was nothing he or the company will or would do to rectify the problem or recall the oven, or even say I am sorry. Like many other posts here, I purchased my model KUDK03CTSS3 in June 2009. And like the others, the top drawer does not get the dishes clean; there is a film and dried food that makes it more difficult to clean after the cycle.Additionally, there are rust spots all along the front panel of the unit. Customer service recommended a rust cleaner, though they admitted it wouldnt completely remove the rust(?) but would prevent further rusting. Ummm, What? How about replacing the front panel, because it shouldnt rust no matter what. They told me it was due to the steam coming from the top/front of the unit during the cycle. Was this something no one thought of when designing and manufacturing the thing? No one figured out a dishwasher would create steam, so the front panel should be steam-resistant?Also, they recommended affresh tablets to clean the unit inside. I already tried the vinegar wash; I dont expect these magical tablets to make any difference whatsoever. At the time of purchase, the money I spent was hard-earned, and I thought I had done appropriate research and due diligence. Almost three years later, in this economy, I cant even justify the cost of a service call, so Im handwashing my dishes.Do not purchase KitchenAid; you will be sorry.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator 2 years ago. The quality is amazingly poor. The flange on both crisper drawers broke during the first year. KitchenAid was kind enough to send replacements. Unfortunately they are the same design/same materials. Next the housing that covers the water filter broke off during the first filter change. Now, at two years, we have the plugged defroster drain that seems ubiquitous with these refrigerators. We shut the refrigerator off for a day with a small space heater directed at the drain in an attempt to thaw the thing out. No luck. Water still leaks down into the bottom of the freezer and eventually drains onto the floor. Weve had more problems with this unit than with every other refrigerator weve owned over the past 40 years - combined. Such a disappointment. KitchenAid use to make a quality product. Now their Kitchen products need constant Aid.

KitchenAid (Whirlpool) told me they didnt have the parts for this model and that they dont repair their countertop microwaves. This micro was used maybe 2X per week to reheat employee leftovers or warm water for tea. It is absolutely crazy that it worked for less than 2 years. Avoid KitchenAid microwaves at all costs! They offered no resolution other than I could buy another one! Really? I will NEVER buy another appliance - microwave or otherwise - from KitchenAid. Never ever buy KitchenAid appliance, service is garbage, product is garbage, warranty is garbage (warranty with Whirlpool company). I spend lot of money for KitchenAid appliance but after 1 year my KitchenAid appliances broke down, every single month. I called to Whirlpool for warranty. They sent a technician twice after I called 40 times, when the technician arrived, I knew more about appliances then he did, I dont know how they got hired. After 2 months passed and they couldnt find whats the issue, they said they will replace the fridge; a month passed and attempted to delivery a new fridge. When the delivery people arrived they said they cant deliver the fridge to the apartment because the fridge was too big (keep in mind they were the delivery guys). So they left and said to reschedule. We rescheduled, and a month later another delivery attempt was made by different delivery ppl but they gave the same answer which was to reschedule because the fridge is too big and that they need a technician on hand to remove the fridge doors so it can go in the apartment. So now we had to reschedule for the 3rd time... 4 weeks later we receive a call from the KitchenAid delivery department and said that if we would like the delivery done on a Saturday, I said that I was busy on Saturday and that if we have waited 4 months for this. Lets wait another 2 days and deliver the fridge on Monday, the representative said that Saturday is the only day for the delivery and that the delivery company wont be working with KitchenAid anymore. They have internal issues. So now we are trying to reschedule for the 4 times and 5 months have passed since this headache has started... A job that any other company would have fixed in 1 week is taking KitchenAid so far 5 months. I am calling the customer service every day trying to get the fridge resolved. But Im being pushed around from customer service to product and exchange department to delivery department to other departments. The KitchenAid Warranty Department should be investigated and see why are they taking people’s money and making them feel assure that once the appliances are broken, they will fix it; but instead they are a fraud.

The oven sensors dont work properly, and when using double oven, unit shuts down and lower door locks. It seems like many others on this site have had the same problem. It sounds like a class action suit to me as it also appears Kitchenaid does nothing to make it right. When you pay over $2,000 for an oven, you expect a solid 10 to 15 years of use. In October 2016, I bought stainless dishwasher model KDTEESS1. The appliance itself works well but after one year I noticed rust spots appearing on the front door. It has gotten worse. KitchenAid is not standing behind its product. The door was not sealed or finished properly. I contacted KitchenAid and was told the one year warranty had passed and I had to buy a new door. Clearly this door was defective as I have an older dishwasher which does not have this problem.

We bought a KA fridge KSF26C7XYY04 with an extended warranty service plan. Thank goodness! We have had 3 service calls in a 6 month period. The fridge is only 2 years old. The evaporator and ice dispenser motor had to be replaced. I just called again because once again the freezer is not working. I have thrown out food 3 times now. I have a 5-hour service repair window every time the company that services the warranty comes out. Last time the part took so long to come in that I waited for almost 4 weeks to get my fridge fixed. This purchase has been a total nightmare! If we did not have the warranty, KA would not even talk to me. There is zero customer service. I was actually told today that with the internet I should have done my homework by their own customer service! That says it all. Sad state of affairs. I will never buy a KA appliance ever again. Once the warranty runs out and I cant get them to continue to fix this fridge, I will take the loss and buy a new non-KA fridge. This company completely sucks. All 3 drawers on the fridge side are broken. Same issue where the face of the drawer has come off. I had one drawer replaced which broke again. KA wont stand behind their poorly made product. They want me to buy them for $125/drawer. I refuse to spend any more money on this piece of poorly made appliance. I duct tape them! SO sad.

Bought this oven about 6 months back. We cook almost daily so it has been put to great use. The four burners works great. The one in the middle for the grill plate is ok. It probably needs a larger burner or two smaller ones. Have also used the oven to bake and used both features-conventional and convection. Overall great value for use.

The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem. They are now available at the consumers expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

I own an entire set of KitchenAid appliances. I am writing about our range, which I tried to self-clean for the first time on December 23. Dont you know that the oven shut down, and door is locked, and control panel is dead? I contacted KA to see what their remedy was. They are sending out a repairman, but will only cover parts, not labor. I was ticked off. I had a turkey to cook for Christmas and visitors are coming to stay for a week. It’s completely absurd to not have an oven to use. I asked the guy on the phone if there had been other issues reported on the same self-clean issue. He said no. Then he said that he didnt have access to personal records. Which is it? I am totally in for a class action suit as well. I’m waiting for a technician. It’s way to expensive of an appliance to have a repair 3 years later.

I have a $2850 piece of fruit in my kitchen that is less than one year old.
I have a $2850 piece of fruit in my kitchen that is less than one year old. Its a lemon made by KitchenAid. I purchased the refrigerator KFIS29BBMS00 in brand new condition from a Texas appliance retailer in North Richland Hills in September of 2012. All was well until six months later, in March of 2013, the refrigerator stopped keeping the non-freezer items cool and ice was forming around the ice maker in the upper refrigerator, and also inside the door of the freezer. They, KitchenAid, dispatched an appliance technician for diagnostics. Lets start the count off for personal days of vacation stolen by these guys. (1 day) Evaporator fan ordered, and installed 10 days later mid April. (2 days) Load noise and additional ice build up 1 week later, service call scheduled. Same repair guy, different day. Parts ordered to replace faulty fan. (3 days) Two weeks later, installed firmware upgraded circuit board. (4 days vacation) In late June, the ice maker stopped working, service scheduled mid July with new service company and technician. (5 days vacation) Of course, parts ordered again... This time, the technician had them shipped to my house.About 12 days later, we received a parts shipment. We called KitchenAid when we received the parts package, asking when the service company was supposed to be back. They contacted them and they were out the next day. (6 days of vacation) Unfortunately, there were two additional parts being shipped and the repair could not be completed. Should not someone have known this dependency when we called? Fast forward an additional two weeks, now we are in early August and we called the service company again since all the parts are in. They cant come out until Sept 3, and in the meantime the refrigerator is making a very loud annoying noise. So, we called KitchenAid to report it and let them know we could not have the appliance serviced with the previous work order since the service provider stated they were only authorized to repair the ice maker. KitchenAid dispatched a third appliance repair company, who was scheduled by KitchenAid for 8/26, then no call no show. They said they did not receive a work order from KitchenAid, but assured me they could make it tomorrow, 8/26. (7 days vacation lost) The third repair company came out today, 8/27, and said they cant repair the refrigerator until the other company completes their work order. (8 days of vacation) Remember now, I still have another appointment scheduled for 9/3/2013, so count on another vacation day, totaling 9 for now and counting.

My control panel had to be replaced because the oven temp was off by sixty degrees. That was in November. However, it didnt repair everything because I can no longer turn the oven on. I have been told its the touch pad. The service company ordered the part and KitchenAid said it is backordered until at least the end of February. I have been without an oven since early December! I have a family and I am an avid baker. No oven for three months? In addition, all the apartments in our complex have this oven and one by one, the problems are the same. What can I do?

The knobs on this range are made plastic on metal posts. The first knob wore and broke within the first year of using the range. The ceramic top range is slow to heat and then superheats once cooking begins. The oven temps are way variable and cooking times are way off from recipes. I have ordered two new knobs at the cost of almost $40 and I know that the other two should be replaced as they will break any day. I use my range nearly every day and thought that KitchenAid was a good brand when I bought it. I am sorry to say that I do not recommend that anyone buy this brand right now. Maybe they will improve but I think that they are making their money on replacement parts.

I have 10+ yr old KitchenAid Superba double ovens. I was baking cookies at 350 degrees in top oven. I took one tray out after 7 minutes and cookies on top were burnt. Door locked itself before I was able to move other cookie trays around. Smoke in oven and perhaps oven fan not working. We turned the wall breaker on and off several times to restart the electronics, which seemed to indicate fan was working when electricity was on. After an hour of oven smoking, refusing to open and oven message of too hot, flames were seen through the door, like a smoldering fireplace. I ended up calling 911 for oven fire. After trying to open the door and let smoke out, the appliance cooled down apparently while firemen were in the kitchen so that the flames dissipated and door would open. Apparently, the flames were from the cookies igniting.

We have tried several local repairmen. They replace numerous parts and we have been charged $200 to $300 dollars each time. The website for KitchenAid has been absolutely no help at all. We purchased a KitchenAid wall oven KEBS107SSS in March 2012. This oven does not turn off and just keeps hot air blowing into the kitchen for at least an hour or longer after pushing the off button. The sales person at the high end appliance store we purchased it from said to turn off the power to the oven, which we did as it had a dedicated breaker switch. Then the oven just latched automatically, wouldnt open, and had a nice error message on the screen. Took the repairman over two weeks to get the part to fix the latch as he said that was the problem.... thats why the oven doesnt turn off efficiently??? I cant get anyone from KitchenAid to even answer my phone calls and I truly dont think the repairman has a clue as to why this oven wont turn off. Do not buy a KitchenAid oven. We are so disappointed in this appliance, but cant afford to get it replaced. Stuck with it, but it will probably completely break down in the next two to three years.

Then we moved and the house we bought had the same ovens. The cost of these panels installed is now nearly $500 with only a 90-day warranty! I also have a hard time believing KitchenAid continues to make a faulty product and sells it for nearly $3,000. Ive ordered new ovens of different brand. Its tough to believe they cant find a way to fix the issues with their electronic panels.

In 2007, I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from Pacific Sales. The refrigerator made funny noises when it ran but I put a piece of tile on the interior metalwork and the noise went away. Seven years later in 2014, an alarm went off inside the control board indicating a problem with the evaporator cooler. As it turns out, KitchenAid or Whirlpool used substandard capacitors in their control boards leading to premature failure. Mind you, this is a $6,000 refrigerator. When I contacted KitchenAid, they informed me that the part was no longer available due to a tsunami in Japan. KitchenAid referred me to an aftermarket control board manufacturer that wanted $800 for the part. They said that they used to have the boards repaired but that was no longer an option. After following the instructions on Steve Jenkins blog, I was able to have the board repaired at Rockstar Computers in Upland, California. Total cost of the repair was $55.

We spent a bunch of money on KitchenAid appliances (refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and double range) when we remodeled our kitchen and, if I could, I would like to go back in time a slap myself in the face for making this decision. KitchenAid appliances are GARBAGE. One side of our fridges french door pops opens then the other side closes. This is a nightmare when you have kids because it basically ensures that your fridge is open ALL OF THE TIME.The dishwasher doesnt work very well. We previously had a Bosche brand dishwasher and I SO wish we stayed brand loyal because that brand was terrific. The KitchenAid dishwasher doesnt completely clean our dishes, it does more of an 80% cleaning making us have to rewash some items after they been through the KitchenAid process. The nobs on the stovetop have broken twice now...I think you get the idea. We bought KA because we thought we were buying a premium brand and nothing could have been further from the truth. We will NEVER buy anything from this brand again and if my ship ever comes in I will happily throw this crap away and buy new appliances immediately.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

The refrigerator lasted exactly 22 months at which time the freezer stopped working. He advised we buy a new refrigerator. We are in the process of doing so, as the repair man said the refrigerator portion of it may last 2 days or 2 weeks. This is totally unacceptable. We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. Our KitchenAid electric wall oven indicated temperature drops 50-60 degrees whenever the temperature is adjusted or if the door is opened momentarily. Then its necessary to wait 10 to 15 minutes for the temperature to rise and for the timing to begin or resume. Weve used other brand ovens and this has never happened with them. The KitchenAid Chat respondent says it was designed this way. Hard to believe, since they must have had numerous complaints about this problem. These days, with all the enthusiasm about home cooking, such a design problem is a very bad one, and very unacceptable for anyone interested in cooking at home. We certainly advise against buying any KitchenAid product if this indicates the quality of their designs and response to problems.

They have to use a spray like Easy Off to get their oven cleaned. This is the worst oven I have ever owned. Don’t buy if youre looking for a self cleaning oven, as this one is NOT!

I have a model KEBC107KSS04 Superba Self-Cleaning Electric Wall Oven/Convection. Self cleaning causes the oven to malfunction or breakdown. We cleaned the oven once and had to pay for a costly repair. Oven would not go up to desired temperature. Oven temperature stuck on Low . We cleaned the oven a second time and the same malfunction occurred. I’m not willing to pay for a second costly repair. KitchenAid, I am sure is aware of the problem. Just reading the complaints made me aware, I am not alone.
