For 3 months I have been trying to buy a replacement water filter for my fisher & paykel fridge freezer - on line it tells me they are out of stock and to phone. On the phone I get confirmation that they are out of stock and given no confirmed date of availability. I am told to order and I will be emailed when they arrive - but remember they cannot tell me when that will be. Today I have ordered 2 at the whopping cost of £98 but have been warned that there are many orders ahead of mine as there is a huge demand for them and so I will have to wait my turn. The filter is an integral part of the function of my particular machine - so why is it impossible to pick up the phone or go online and order a filter and get one immediately? How hard can it be to stock enough to meet demand? We are talking about a simple water filter here - nothing more but for reasons best known to themselves - they will not maintain a sufficient quantity for its customers. Do I smell a rat here? Is there an agenda I wonder? Hundreds of customers are having to pay in advance for their expensive water filters to ensure that they receive them in the designated time stipulated by Fisher & Paykel. Frankly had I known I would not have bought from this company and certainly will not again.

I own Fisher & Paykel dishdrawers. I recently purchased their laundry. It has one of the best designs out there and its unfortunate that they get a bad rap a lot of times, a lot of people dont know how to use them properly and that explains a lot of negative reviews. But theyre one of the best cleaning ability with the washer, and the dryer is a top load dryer which economically is the best thing out there. I had back surgery so I come from a place of ease and I love it.

We bought dishwasher 9/8/15, installed 9/15, did one load in top drawer; neither drawer has worked since. Tech from Fisher & Paykel came out on 9/11, said control board & heating element bad, took them with him. He said he would try to get parts overnighted. Thats the last we have seen or heard from him. We have called, emailed Fisher & Paykel & now they say they will be back on 9/28 between 12 & 5. Fortunately, we have not paid for this thing & have contacted our credit card company regarding the charge & they have sent letter to dealer contesting the charge. A close friend who repairs appliances will not work on these machines, saying they are impossible to fix (wish I had talked to him before purchase). I will update this post after 9/28, but I have a feeling its never going to work right & I think my friend will be uninstalling this thing shortly.

Im a kitchen and bath designer so I know about Fisher & Paykel. We have them in the showroom at the last place I worked, and I inherited that when I bought the display, when we downsized after the crash, and I just replaced it. I put it in my sister and brother-in-laws house, and they love it. Its a great appliance for Californians and retired people who are you know downsizing their homes, as their kids go off to school. Its also great for young couples with kids because they can do one load. The dishwasher is great because of the two drawers. Besides, its a New Zealand product.

We bought a slightly used machine and for 2 weeks, things were fine. Then during the wash, the machine would stop with an error code indicating a problem with a motor sensor. Then after a month or so, the machine would not run - just the same error soon after the washer was started. There was no repair service that I could identify in our area. Anyway, after numerous attempts to run the machine, I let it sit for about 2 weeks unplugged. Then I tried it again, and it works like a champ now. The washer has completed 7 loads with no errors. This is an excellent machine when it works. And if it continues to do so, I would certainly recommend it to anyone who could afford the purchase price.

Over the course of three years we have had 6 service calls on the Fisher Paykel dish drawer dishwasher. The hoses crack and water has leaked onto my wood floor causing damage 3 times. Another time, the electric board needed replacing, and just two weeks ago the entire magnet and inner workings on the top drawer need to be replaced. The total cost of this last repair is $600. Before this current dishwasher, we owned the first generation Fisher Paykel dish drawer. It was as horrible as our current one. There is absolutely no customer service or help from Fisher Paykel. They blame every defective part and problem on the water, or detergent, or operator error etc. Do not ever buy a Fisher Paykel unless you have piles of money and time lying around. I cant believe the money we have wasted over the years on these subpar pieces of trash. I refuse to fix it again. I am throwing it out and getting a Bosch.

I purchased an F&P washer and dryer in April 2004. I made this purchase based on strong recommendations by friends and relatives. The washers control panel went out twice in the first year. Both times, it took a couple of weeks to get a replacement. The technician from the appliance store told me this was the norm with F&P parts. The dryer has always taken an excessively long time to dry our laundry completely, and the lint collection is very poor. Now, eight years later, the control panel is out on the washer again. The appliance store where I purchased them no longer carries this brand. I am debating whether to scrap this washer or try to have it fixed. I am very dissatisfied with this brand. I sure thought I could expect more than 8 years out of them for the price I paid to buy them.

We have experienced unacceptable service delays in getting a repair to our 2.5 year old F&P Washer (Ecosmart). It seemed to work well and does a good job drying out the clothes. We have a Sears maintenance/extended warranty so we had preventive maintenance performed less about 8 or 10 months ago. In mid-November 2011, the washer made an odd noise and refused to spin. We called for service and could only get an appointment for three weeks later (12/6/2011). It was a great inconvenience, especially over the Thanksgiving holiday with family coming to our house. My wife was not happy and had to go to the Laundromat several times. At the 12/6 service appointment, the technician said that it needed two parts (including a circuit board). But he had to order them and they would not arrive for a week. So, the follow-up appointment was set for 12/15/11. My wife was extremely disappointed and expected the washer to be fixed on the 15th. At the appointment on the15th, the technician installed the parts, turned it on, and the circuit board burned out. Now my wife is absolutely livid as it will be another week or more before the circuit board and a new drain pump arrives. She is convinced that repair will fail as well as the tech does not seem to know what he is doing. She demanded that Sears provide her with a rental machine (they will reimburse, but we have to pay up front). She has also announced that she wants a new washing machine when this one breaks again and it wont be an F&P.

I replaced Fisher & Paykel dishwasher with the same brand item. The drawers are not of equivalent size. One is a little bit larger and the other one is a little smaller and Im actually liking it. I bought some of the appliances at the same time and there was a Fisher & Paykel rep there and I spoke to him and were playing around with it. So far I think its great. The last ones were not that great. I purchased a home with the dishwashers in the home and I did not call in the repairman.I decided that I was going to replace them because they were 10 years old but my understanding is to get them serviced is very difficult. I like the new ones better. I use these for dishes and they are very nice. Its in my second home so Ive used them only five times but from what Ive used so far, Id give them a five although Im afraid because I havent had to service them and I do hear little horror stories.

This is the third F+P 2-drawer dishwasher we bought; two of them are in our rental flats in London, England. Both have been okay and the service in London was excellent. The one we have in Pennsylvania, I knew when it was problematic there would be no service. These hicks here dont even know what the brand name is.F+P New Zealand recommended two service companies. First, one guy never heard of the equipment but booked his in law to do the service. On the day of the service after waiting a week, the wife of the guy said he has the flu and must cancel. We have been down since Christmas day and its now the 9th of Jan. She didnt know when he could reschedule. The other one had an answering service and I left a message 10 days ago and again twice today, the 10th. The service leads you to a message that says leave your number which I did now 3 times. And if we want faster service, email them at a certain address which we did only to get a message that 10 days ago they changed their address to something else. Still no calls. This is hopeless and I do not recommend anyone to buy this unit in the US unless you are in the bigger cities where service companies are plentiful and they know the products. I loved the unit until I tried to get it serviced. I will never buy another and we own 46 properties.

My husband is a carpenter and loves watching This Old House and Hometime - that’s how he heard about Fisher & Paykel washer. And then when we went, that was one of the models that they had and we really liked it. I had never heard of it and my husband was the one that’s like, “Oh, that’s a really nice one!” That would be a big reason why we ended up going with that model. I haven’t had much luck with my Maytag and so we went with another brand. And then of course everything that could go wrong with it, when they came out, “Well, we’ve never seen that happen before.” So I was like, “Okay. I’m done spending a ton of money on them.” We purchased a higher brand washer. It was only like $399 and I thought, “Well, even if it only lasts 5 years, okay.” It actually died before a year was out. When we went back to the gentleman that we purchased it from, they wouldn’t honor it anymore. He said, “Sorry, you’re out of warranty” and I’m like, “Really?!” Actually, I should clarify because the first one went out within a year so they replaced it. And they sent us a different one and that one died. And they weren’t going to replace that because my original year was up. The gentleman who we had purchased from was like, “No. I’ll stand behind it. You come down and we’ll get you something else.” That’s when we chose the one that we have now. It’s just my husband and I. Our two kids are at college so I’m like, “We don’t do that much laundry. I’m not that hard on them!” The Fisher & Paykel is just phenomenal, and I’ve told everyone. My husband and I have talked, that’s the brand we’ll look out, first and foremost.

It has mother boards replaced, water pumps, service people out a number of times, and again the water pump is out again and the company said they will give me a discount on a new one. They must think Im stupid. Why in the world would I want to purchase another with all the problems Im having with this one? The last water pump is right at a year old and it is out again. The company said they would not replace it again. I would have to buy it and have it replaced. I bought a Fisher & Paykel range on 11/9/11. It was delivered on 12/7/11. I moved into the house on 12/12/11. I had a spill over during the first week. The two front burners allowed spill to go into the mechanism, the orifice and into the burner. I am not happy with the design and feel that it is a design flaw. I have had over 50 years of experience with ranges and have never seen one like that that does not allow for cleaning. I contacted Big 1 for resolution. They sent a service technician who stated that the burner needed to be replaced. After he left, the center burner would not light at all and the two front burners tried to ignite no matter which burner I tried to turn on.

Just a follow-up to my July 17, 2011 post. I contacted the USA representative and I was very pleased. She arranged a repair at no cost. This was not easy as the company listed was no longer servicing my area, but she was successful. She sent two parts (computer and pump) and the technician just replaced these and all seems on for now. Best part of the story - no cost although the machine is 3.5 years old. Must tip my hat at the FP and the customer service. Thanks to CA for being there, as I feel this blog/posting was influential in getting my problem resolved. This is my 2nd F/P washer and dryer. My washes are clean but often very tangled due to the absence of an agitator. The machine is usually quiet. The spin is awesome with the wash almost dry at the end. The top loading dryer is very convenient to use. Dont be upset by the sound of the reversing or stopping drum. We purchased a top load washer/dryer set in July 2009. By November 2010, the heating element in the dryer broker and the lint trap was clogged, meaning the dryer was not producing any heat to dry clothes. We had it serviced at that time, replacing the heating element and removing the lint trap to clean it, and now in January 2012, the link trap is clogged again. Also, almost immediately after purchase, the washing machine started leaking whenever a load was more than half full. Additionally, the washer began to (and still) stop wash cycles regularly because the load is not balanced. Sometimes, a wash cycle will stop up to 10 times before it finally runs through, taking almost a full day to wash one load of sheets/blankets. Also, in January 2012, we noticed that the top part of the plastic basket in the washer has begun to shred and tear. We are now weighing the choice of having a repair man out to fix it or not sink any more money into a machine were so unhappy with.We have been extremely disappointed with this set. We purchased this make and model when we built our new home because we wanted a modern, efficient washer/dryer. What we got was almost three years of headaches, service calls, and wasted water and electric.

Eco smart washer - Well I bought this in 2011 in Lakeport at the Sears. I noticed right away that my whites werent getting white, even though I use Clorox. The next thing was having to constantly re-balance the clothes. Also, my clothes constantly get wound around the thing in the middle. The paddles should have gone all the way to the bottom of the tub. Instead theres like 4 below where clothes can get stuck. Then I did a test with the hot water. I pressed wash in hot water and when it was half-full, I opened the machine and it was cold. Well I tried turning off the cold valve and then I tried using the cold button seeing if they were switched. Then I had a problem where it wouldnt drain. Well it drains now. Clothes still get stuck, get stretched and sometimes ripped, and then come to find out that the hot button doesnt mean wash with hot. It means fill to 2 with hot and then continue filling with cold. The repairman for Sears phoned Paykel and that is what the tech told him is normal for washing in hot.I am steaming mad. Who wants to join a class action lawsuit with me? I am that angry.

My granddaughter was getting married and moving into a home and needed a lot of help with outfitting it so I gave her my old washer and dryer. So then I went out to an appliance store looking for a new washer and dryer and found out about Fisher & Paykel. I had good recommendation from the owner who told me that’s what he had at his house so I chose to buy this brand and I’ve been very satisfied with my first F&P washer and dryer. Really, there are some things that are much better than the previous ones we’ve owned - I think that they spin water out more and the clothes are dryer when you take them out of the washer to put them in the dryer. They don’t have as much water in them so less dry time.

My Fisher & Paykel dual fuel (gas top/electric oven) is by far the wors
My Fisher & Paykel dual fuel (gas top/electric oven) is by far the worst appliance I have ever purchased. From day one after the installation, the oven wouldnt work properly because of, what I later learned, is a PLASTIC lock which came broken. Without this lock, the sensor believes that the oven door is open and the oven wont work correctly. According to the technician, this lock breaks frequently, and he mentions he doesnt understand why a piece so important is made of plastic. The technician comes back with the part to fix the issue, but when he puts the oven all back together, it seemed that the oven door was no longer centered in place. He said that it should not be a problem, after all, the oven was now working. Although I thought it was a very poor customer service response for an appliance so expensive, I decided to bite the bullet, as I had spent too long without an oven. Despite my compromise, a week after this repair the door completely sunk to one side. As a result, the oven was again non-operational. Another technician comes, this time to tell me that the door hinge had an issue. He didnt have the spare part, so I go another month without an oven.At the day scheduled for the technician to come to install the new hinge, he missed the appointment, allegedly because previous appointments that ran late. So now I have at least 3 more weeks with no oven until he can come again. After weeks, the technician is back. He installs the new hinge, and of course, the door is again not centered. The oven doesnt work properly, because, without a centered door, the locking mechanism doesnt work well. Interestingly enough, he insists that everything is fine, and tells me that the lock is only used for the oven self-clean function, which I should never use because everyone who uses it requests a repair right after due to oven parts that get burned and makes the oven malfunction.Interesting to know that the oven is even worse than I thought, and that the self-clean feature is unusable. But back to my case, even though the lock is not essential, it affects how the door open and closes, and the oven does not work well without everything centered and in place. His answer: I cant do anything about it. Now I call Fisher & Paykel to complain, and their solution? To send another technician. Im now nearly one year without an oven. I simply cant bake anything. So my advice to all of you considering to buy a Fisher & Paykel appliance, believe the bad reviews and stay away from it. I was one of those who thought no, it cant be that poorly made at such a high price tag. Well, it is, and its customer service is just as bad.

I purchased at the same time a Fisher Paykel Washer (model WA37T26G: ECOSMART) and Fisher Paykel Dryer (model WA42T26GW1: ECOSMART) in 2008/09. First problem was the spinning on the washer stopped. I called a repair person; it cost me over $200 to fix. Second problem, the dryer just quit working, deader than a doornail! I called a repairman. They said it would cost more for the part than what the dryer is worth! I tossed the Fisher Paykel dryer and bought a Maytag. Now, just this week, the washer stopped spinning again. This time, being ECOSMART, I looked online for COMMON PROBLEMS with these models and found that the water pump gets wet from a leak in the washer and rusts and freezes the water pump which in turn blows out the fuse in the control board. My husband took it apart and it was confirmed... The pump is junk and rusted and the CONTROL BOARD is dead. With a 50 cent fuse, it could fix the problem, but NO, Fisher Paykel doesnt tell you that. They want you to spend $185+ for a new control board to fix their POOR DESIGN! Now, we have to fork out more money to replace this junk water pump to avoid paying for a new washer. Guess what? The new pumps have fuses on them to prevent the control board from blowing out. Well, how bout recalling them and fix the design?!! Just a thought! A Fisher Paykel will not be in my house after this washer DIES again! (Oh, Shame on you, Consumer Reports! I went by your recommendation for these models!) ECOSMART? I think not!

Fisher Paykel has the most inefficient customer service/repair arrangement
Fisher Paykel has the most inefficient customer service/repair arrangement I have ever seen. FP provided me with three numbers/businesses to contact for washer repairs. Two local companies do not service my area. The one that does service my area, A&E factory repair, does not have a contract with Fisher Paykel. Imagine! Call them, but there is no agreement! I have an authorization for parts from FP but A&E will not order them unless I pay for the parts and try to get reimbursed from FP. FP says we dont accept this authorization. Since the companies dont work together, hows that going to happen? I have made at least a dozen calls to FP and A&E and each help line tells me to call the other one for help. After looking at other comments about FP washers on this site, and from my own experience, Im convinced that FP appliances are money pits and health and electrical hazards. Customer Service numbers are merely smile and nod over the phone tools. ..frustration will make the customer go elsewhere.

About the washer, dryer, and dishwasher. The washer has done great. The dryer is constantly broken. The dishwasher simply does not clean dishes well at all. Ive had Kenmore and Maytag and would recommend either over these worthless, expensive pieces of junk. The dryer heating element has burned out six times or more. Clearly, there is some defect that should warrant a recall. Dishes have to be pretty much washed by hand before putting them in the dishwasher. It is worthless.

We purchased a refrigerator ( fisher & paykel ) when we remodeled our kitchen. After 3 years, the door alarm kept beeping after we closed the door. This would keep going until we opened the door and pushed the button inside. We called the company and tried everything they suggested, to no avail. We went online and found that many other consumers had the same problem. Finally, we asked for an authorized service company. They recommended KAM appliances. It cost 95 dollars to get them to come out and tell us that they needed a part to make the repair. When they returned, they told us that the part was defective and they would talk to F& P again. They came out a third time and then the refrigerator would not work at all. We were told that it could not be fixed. We called F & P and they told us we were out of warranty and offered us a pro rated price on a new refrigerator.

I bought a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer based on the sales pitch that loads very seldom get off balance and that clothes spin almost dry. From the start at least one out of every 4 loads would get off balance. I had a repair man service my washer numerous times while it was under warranty. At one point the rocker arms were broke and had to be replaced and caused from the loads getting off balance. The last repair visit the service man said he would have to order parts and would be back to install them. He hasn’t been back and that was months ago. My washer still gets loads off balance and now it won’t complete the rinse cycle. But now my warranty has expired so I’m stuck with an expensive washing machine that doesn’t work. I will never buy another Fisher Paykel product nor will I ever buy anything from the store where I purchased them. I’m stuck with an appliance that doesn’t work and the warranty is now expired.

I purchased the EcoSmart washing machine from Sears 2.5 years ago. The water pump/drain malfunctioned causing the electronics to short out. After consulting with a repairman, I was informed that the pump will be $200 plus $160 for the electronic portion, add another $50 for taxes and shipping and at least $100 for labor. Of course, the warranty is no longer applicable and apparently this problem is very consistent with other users. After reading the other reviews, I realize how bad this situation is quickly becoming.

I bought what I thought was a new model, an Aqua Smart WL-37, from the Warehouse Discount Center (WDC) on 5-16-11. I also bought an extended four-year warranty. The WL-37 failed less than three months later (8-10-11). It made a loud noise, and it went dead. No power. I called WDC for help, and they gave us a list of contractors. It turned out none of them travel to our town in Fillmore. This is even though when you first call the contractor, they say,” sure we will go to Fillmore”. However, once they try and locate us on a map, they thought it was “Sylmar”, not Fillmore.Anyway, we finally called P&K customer service. They also gave me a list of contractor folks who would go to Fillmore. I guess the good customer service representatives at Fisher and Paykel’s dont have good English skills, as they also gave us a list of contractors who go to Sylmar, not Fillmore. Finally, I got one who actually came to the house after a ten day delay. When the technician came inside, he asked me for the original sales receipt. The folks at Fisher & Paykel had no proof of sale, and because the WL37 is not the current model. I had a broken ankle and could not go upstairs to pull the receipt, even though I showed the technician the four-year extended warranty with a sale date of June, 2011, it was not good enough. So back to finding contractors who would go to Sylmar… err… Fillmore. Finally, I found one. Again, after another week lag they showed up on August 29. By this time, I was smart, and registered my unit on the Fisher & Paykel website, so the unit was verified under warranty. The technician came in and looked at the washer. He said it needed a new power board. He left his card, and said he would order it that day. Another eleven days have gone by, and I have heard nothing. This is despite leaving several messages to the technician and his store. I just finished contacting Fisher & Paykel customer service via its website customer care inquiry. Hopefully, they will contact me soon.

On 3/24, we purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator from Lowes. We had the refrigerator delivered on 4/6. The refrigerator worked for only two weeks when the power went out completely. We called F&P on 4/20 (the day it went out) and we were referred to a local authorized service provider. We called the the company they recommended and were not able to schedule service until 4/24. The technician came out and found that the circuit board was bad. How can a refrigerator that is only two weeks old have a bad circuit board? The technician ordered a new circuit board on 4/25. It took a week for the part to arrive and he came to install the new circuit board on 5/4.Within a few hours of the technician leaving, we noticed an F11 error, which has something to do with a fan. We noticed, at that time, that the refrigerator was not cooling, although the freezer seemed to be working. We called the technician back and were not able to schedule another visit until 5/9. By the time the technician comes on 5/9, we will be 19 days with no refrigerator. It is simply not acceptable for a new appliance to work for only two weeks. We paid $2,000 for this refrigerator and it has been broken for longer than it actually worked. I called customer service on 5/4 and explained everything that has occurred. I was offered a 3-month extension of the warranty. How does that fix the problem? Why would I want to extend a warranty on something that doesnt even work? I was put on hold to speak with a supervisor and coincidentally none were available. At that point, the representative told me that she looked over my file again and could offer to extend my warranty an extra six months. This is simply not a solution. How does extending the warranty make up for not having a working refrigerator for longer than having a working one, throwing away all of the food we had in the refrigerator, and having to eat every meal out for three weeks? I told the representative that this was not acceptable and I still wanted to speak with a supervisor. So, now my file has been expedited, and she said I should get a call from a supervisor on Monday (5/7). I hope I do. This refrigerator is clearly a lemon and should be considered DOA (dead on arrival). We should be sent a new refrigerator and receive a credit for our loss of use for three weeks.

I have the dish drawers and both handles have broken. I know how to open the dish drawers as I had dish drawers prior to getting these except that handle was one piece on the door. I was concerned when I got these dish drawers as several of my friends that I had talked into getting Fisher Paykel dish drawers had the same thing happen to them because they are made out of cheap plastic! This was the only reason I did not want another Fisher Paykel. I loved the one I had before because you have enough room to keep your dishes done rather than the one dishwasher that you can never fit all the dishes in a load. I called Fisher Paykel and they have not been helpful at all, not did they seem interested in doing anything about it. They know how cheap these handles are and when they are broken. You cant open the dish drawer. Both are broken and I do not let anyone load my dishes except me because I knew what happened with my friends dish drawers. I loved my first one that lasted 9 years without a problem but when I called the service man out, it ended up after 400 dollars where they were replacing parts and something else was going wrong, I decided enough was enough -- they said they could not fix it so I wanted another set but I will never get anything Fisher Paykel anymore. They used to be good and stand behind their product but now they just build a cheap machine and charge a large price for it. My timer is already not working correctly and it even changes the settings all by itself. I had no clue after only 3 years I would have such a piece of junk!

We purchased a full set of 4 appliances along with extended warranties for a kitchen renovation in 2016. After 5 years, when warranties had expired, only the refrigerator remains in good working order and we love it. The dishwasher never did a very good cleaning job and we had it serviced. (Do NOT purchase the 2 drawer model!) The microwave oven stopped without any warning because the main PCB and line conditioner needed replacement. The interlock assembly on the door also had a fair amount of play in it. Then the induction range slowed down to only 2 working elements until the inverter board completely stopped rendering the cooktop completely unusable. The replacement piece cost was $1800 pre-tax and installation with a 30 DAY warranty! The oven cavity has turned off during use a couple of times which I consider a warning. Fisher and Paykel was unresponsive to communication so I will never purchase or recommend their product in the future.

I purchased an FP washing machine in 2008. I was assured of the quality and low maintenance of this washer. Fortunately, I had the factory warranty and then the extended warranty and I have needed every bit of it. This washer is simply a piece of metal junk. I am so angry and dissatisfied with how FP, Lowes and A&E repair has dealt with this. I had it repaired at least 6 times under the FP warranty and when it was broken it was down for weeks. Parts took forever. Then on to Lowes and A&E. I have had nothing but trouble with the washer. Lowes will not replace my machine and FP refuses to do anything. I just had it repaired in April and it was out of service for a month then. Now it’s leaking water underneath - clearly the bearings are going out and again Im going to be without a washer. This is absolute garbage. Do not buy FP washers - not to mention that now the leaking washing has destroyed my Pergo kitchen floor. I’m very angry.

7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so
7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so I'm going to do my best to give one to help others as they consider buying this fridge. I know people want to know how a product lasts over time, so I'll do my best to remember to keep updating this review. As of today, the fridge has been up and running for 2 days. It is important to note that our fridge is a B-stock unit (was returned by someone, but never used. They listed the reason as "damaged packaging"). We did not buy through this website. THE BACKSTORY Our previous fridge was a big 36" standard depth white GE side-to-side that someone gave us for free. We knew it was only a temporary solution, and started saving for its replacement for when it would die on us. The rest of our kitchen appliances were stainless, so we were looking forward to the day our big white fridge kicked the bucket so we could have a more uniform look. Yesterday, we got home from a trip and our fridge was making loud and scary noises that wouldn't stop. We saw this as the perfect excuse to make the switch. I had heard of Fisher and Paykel before, and was told they were a good solution for a long-lasting fridge without all the unnecessary bells and whistles (that end up breaking and causing service calls down the road). I also thought this was the most elegant looking out of all of its competitors. I like the simple, flat look of this unit. I headed over to our closest appliance outlet store and found a B-stock unit that was never used (still had the plastic wrap), but had a dent in the back. We saved a thousand dollars on this unit because of a dent nobody would ever see. Score! INSTALLATION I took it home in my van and let it stand for 8 hours before turning it on (guy at store said this was important to do so all the liquids in the compressor could settle into place after transporting it on its back - better safe than sorry). During that time, I installed the included water filter and hoses to the fridge. It comes with everything you need except the piece that actually taps into your water line. Since we already had that from our previous fridge, this was a breeze. No need to call a plumber. The instruction manual was very easy to follow on installation of water components. I am the least handy guy you could know, so trust me when I say this was easy! During the time the fridge sat unplugged, I also wiped down the shelves and bins, took off the plastic wrap, and read the instruction manual. I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual. There are so many features in this fridge that aren't highlighted on the companies website that I never would have known about had I not read the manual. I'll go into more detail in the "Features" Section of this review. After the 8 hours, I plugged the fridge in and let it get to its proper temperature (about 2 hours). I used this time to adjust the front legs (it is supposed to be raised up 1/2" higher in the front than the back for ease of door use). During this time, the exterior sides and back of the unit got HOT! Like, I'm afraid this thing is going to explode, hot. Thankfully after reaching its desired interior temps, the exterior cooled off substantially. Today, it isn't even warm. I made sure to run all the air pockets out of the water line, and discarded the first few batches of ice as instructed. FEATURES First of all, keep in mind that we were previously using a big, standard depth side-by-side before, and have never had a counter-depth fridge, or one with a freezer on the bottom. Having made the transition, it is clear that these fridges are not for everyone. I'll try to explain in more detail as I go. - Counter-Depth: This opened up our kitchen far beyond what we were expecting. I know its only a few inches shallower, but it made a huge difference for us. Our kitchen just got bigger and brighter! Our fridge is no longer the elephant in the room. This fridge looks great, but blends in. It does come with some trade offs. The depth of storage in the fridge is very shallow. For example, I don't see the ability to fit a large pizza box in the fridge or the freezer (untested theory). - Doors: I've been to some peoples houses where their french doors were really hard to either open or close. These open with no problem, and close even easier. The freezer door is a bit harder to open than the fridge doors, but not difficult by any stretch. - Hidden top hinges: I love how the top hinges are covered in the front. It is a small attention to detail which really makes this thing look clean and sharp. It also makes cleaning the top of the fridge so much easier! - Water dispenser: Some people may not like that this doesn't have a door ice dispenser (ice is dispensed in a bin in the freezer). It is perfect for us, I love the shallow water chamber that doesn't cut into storage space on the inside door. It also is easier to clean, and you can fill any size container without worrying if it will fit. For us, the water comes out fast, and fills things up quickly. People who like to set a glass in the water cavity and walk away while it fills up will not like this feature. It is too shallow to set a glass in, you will need to hold it the entire time. Not a problem for us. - Shelving: This model has 3 shelves (2 of which are height adjustable). These shelves go across the full width of the fridge. Some of this units competitors have adjustable shelves that only go halfway for more customization, but in my opinion that is just more breakable pieces, and it cuts into the amount of things you can store. The full-width shelves work perfectly for our needs. Also, many competitors' fridges have white plastic spill proofing around the edges of their shelves. In my opinion, this makes a fridge look cheap and flimsy. The ActiveSmart fridge has beautiful brushed metal spill proofing, it looks so much more elegant and uniform. Sounds like a small thing, but it is one of my favorite features! - Door Storage: Because of the shallow water dispenser, you get full storage on both doors. This increases the storage like no other. There are large compartments with dividers for gallon sized jugs and tall items. At the top of each french door, there is a compartment with a lid for butters or cheeses. Our previous fridge had one of these compartments with a rounded lid, it really limited storage, but these have a squared off lid that allows you to stack items without worrying about closing the lid. My biggest complaint of this fridge is that these lids don't stay open when you lift them. So you need one hand to hold the lid open, and another to grab whatever is inside. It may sound negligible, but i'm usually holding something else when I need something from these compartments. Hopefully I'll get used to it. As of right now, it's really annoying. - Wine/Bottle holders: There really isn't a place in this fridge where you would be able to store a wine bottle standing up other than the doors, so they included 4 horizontal holders that clip to the back of every shelf. These holders also stack upon another so if you don't have 4 bottles to hold, they don't take up a lot of room. Very thoughtful feature. If you insist on storing your wine or tall bottled drinks standing up, you may not like this fridge. - REMOVABLE BINS!: This is my very favorite feature of this fridge. All drawers in the fridge and freezer are actually pull out shelves with clear bins sitting on top. This is so useful for so many reasons. Instead of shuffling through the vegetables or fruits to find what you are looking for with the fridge doors open, you can just pull out the desired bin and take it to the counter, find what you need and easily put it back. The same is true for meats/cheese bins, frozen drawers, and the ice bin. Saves tons of energy. Also, it makes cleaning drawers out a breeze. Just pull it out, rinse the bin in the sink, and dry out. I love this feature! - Crisper drawers: Like most fridges, this has separate drawers for fruits and vegetables with a separate humidity setting for each. Keep in mind, you need to open both french doors to pull out the drawer. Even though there are two separate sections, the full drawer they share takes up the full width of the fridge. People who only want to open one door and pull out fruits or veggies will not like this fridge. - Meats and Cheese Drawers: I like that there are two separate sections for these. We use the left one for lunch meat and cheeses, and the right one for other meats (steak, beef, fish, etc...). It is especially nice to use one of these as a dedicated meat thawing section without worry of any juices finding their way to other items in the fridge. Again, you need to open both french doors to access these compartments. - Lighting: Our previous fridge had a light in the top back center. If we had anything in front of it (which was always), it would darken the rest of the fridge, making it difficult to see other items throughout. This fridge has a strip of LED lighting at the top front of the unit which allow for full illumination of the entire contents of the fridge no matter how you have your food arranged. Very nice touch! There are no lights on the doors, but enough spills from the inside of the fridge that you will be able to make out what you need even in the middle of the night. - Ice machine: Since this is only our 2nd day, all I can say is it works as advertised so far. I know the ice machine is usually the biggest issue people have with any fridge, so I'll keep my eye on it and let you know if anything weird happens over time. The default setup is that in the freezer, there is a top shelf with 2 big bins across the width. In the left big bin, there is a smaller one that takes up half the width of that bin, and that is the ice bin. If you require more ice, you can just remove the smaller bin and let the ice dispense into the bigger bin. With either bin, it is supposed to stop producing ice when it is full. If you need even more ice, you can fill up the big bin on the left, switch it with the right bin, and fill up that one too. Lots of versatility, and the removable bins are great if you are entertaining! - Freezer: The freezer has a top shelf that pulls out with the ice bin, plus a bin and a half of storage for other things. Then there is a large cavity below for the storage of everything else. If you are a person who usually packs out your freezer of your current fridge, I don't think you will enjoy a counter-depth freezer-on-the bottom model. This is definitely more for the person who has a larger ratio of fresh food to frozen food. I can easily see people needing to dig around the lower cavity if they over fill it. For our family, we don't need much freezer space, so it works perfect for us so far. - Noise: As of right now, there is a constant hum that is about the volume of somebody whispering softly. It is audible, but not something you can hear unless you are in the kitchen. I'm not sure if this will always hum, or if it is just because we haven't filled up our ice bin to the top yet, and the ice machine is constantly working. I'll update the review when we find out. - ActiveSmart Tech: I don't really know what it is, other than it's supposed to do a good job of keeping your food cold. Mission accomplished so far. - Other features: Sabbath mode, open door alarm (90 seconds for fridge, 60 seconds for freezer), ability to turn off open door alarm (for cleaning), water dispenser lock (for cleaning or curious kids), ice bin on/off, fast ice, temperature controls, bottle chill function (allows you to chill a beverage quickly in freezer, and will sound alarm when it is done), fast freeze (for quick freezing of fresh food), water filter replacement indicator, lock fridge controls (for cleaning) and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Fridge controls are located inside the fridge. Purchased this dryer ($649) in March 2018. The circuit board crashed within the first month. 9 months later I had to have it repaired because small pieces of laundry & the dryer sheet kept getting caught inside the drum, which resulted in tightly twisted clothing stuck to the inside of the drum. I am now awaiting my second circuit board as the dryer malfunctioned again. I had to open the door to the dryer to get it to stop running because none of the controls would work. This is clearly a fire hazard! The appliance store has been great about dealing with these issues but with 3 repairs in less than 19 months, I will never again buy this brand!

I have had the Fisher&Paykel Top Loading Dryer Model DEGX2 dryer since 10-2007. I had no problems with it until 3-9-2011 (bearings replaced). On 9-9-2011, dryer would not heat. Since then, I have had (as of 5-18-2012) eleven (11), under extended warranty service, calls for same problem. Dryer begins to leave clothes damp. I can see lint build up within lint scraper module (lint basket sits in this and it is not part of customer use to remove screw and module to clean lint that is not properly taken into basket). This module has been replaced and the new one had sticky residue all over it when I had no drying problem again. Warranty Company (Lowes) says the visits are a maintenance problem saying that I (the user) am not removing lint. (I do I empty the basket.) Nowhere in the users handbook does it say to take the lint module out and remove lint. This module is difficult to fit in properly; I have watched different repairmen have problems. This dryer is a pain. I paid a lot of money for it and it does not appear that the warranty company is going to back up replacement/refund due to how the repair visits are reported. I had this dryer for four years and until the bearing problem it was fine. I am angry. Do not buy Fisher&Paykel. Do not use Lowes extended protection plans.

We had Fisher & Paykel washer that was about 5 years old. The pump went out and the cost of replacing was so high that it was better to get another one from a different manufacturer. But the washer broke out unlike the one we got from Fisher & Paykel, so we purchased from Fisher & Paykel again. Compared to the past model we had, this one is good. And then my dishwasher went out and I needed a new one so we went to the same place. Since we had such good luck with the washing machine, we went with the dishwasher also. I love the new models - love the efficiency. I love that they dont use a whole lot of water or energy and the results of the clean are as good, if not better, than a model that uses all the water and all the electricity. It doesnt cost me a million dollar to have them repaired. My experience has been fantastic. Ive had one problem with my washing machine and it was very easy to take a part and we found a YouTube video and took it apart and replaced the part ourselves. So instead of having someone come out and we have to pay them $120 just to look at it, for $60 for the part and everything, it was done and over within 15 minutes.

We had a double drawer dishwasher installed as part of our kitchen refurbishment last May. Within two months, the dishwasher would not drain. Contacted customer service - NOT - and after being on hold for a long time, I was finally told to contact a company called Millers Ltd. UK to arrange an engineer to come and fix the problem. This company sent out one of the rudest young men I have ever encountered and he left the dishwasher un-repaired, so we had to contact the kitchen company to make other arrangements, dishwasher fixed. In February 2015 the tines in the tray of the upper drawer broke. I went online to order a new tray and tines at a total cost of £73.40, I ordered what was in the photo on Fisher & Paykel website. The tray arrived without the tines. After several phone calls and mindless music, I finally managed to convince an assistant called Ula that if she checked her website, she would see what I thought I was ordering and therefore could she send me the tines. This she did and they all snapped while trying to fix them to the tray. We have since managed to do a DIY job on this tray. In March of this year, the upper drawer again would not drain, clean the dishes - so back onto Fisher Paykel and the awful music. Again given a number to contact to arrange an engineer to visit, told the assistant about our previous experience and asked that that company not be used again. A very helpful engineer arrived the next day and instantly knew the problem and replaced the rotor in the upper drawer, he had one on-hand as he had dealt with this problem several times. July, both drawers very noisy, not cleaning dishes and a red light and bleeping from the upper drawer. Contact Fisher & Paykel and again straight onto the awful music, finally get through to Hannah, who cannot find a contact number for my post code. Oops its my fault that she misheard my post code and was looking in the wrong area. I explain as best I can the problem and previous history, she tells me to contact the previous company I used in March. This I do to be informed that they no longer deal with Fisher & Paykel as their machines have multiple problems. Contact Fisher & Paykel and Hannah, again to be given a number which turns out to be Millers UK, a company I will never use or recommend. Try to contact Hannah again but am beaten by the awful music. Instead I am now getting an independent assessment of the machine and will be going back to the kitchen company that recommended the dishwasher and installed it, as to whether or not they will have to replace it with a better-quality machine.

Very disappointed in the top load dryer. My in-laws moved in with their dryer. This dryer has had service repairs two times in the first year they owned it. Now we are using it as well and the one-year warranty is up. They told us that the last time a service man came out, he showed them where the reset switch is. Apparently, every so often, the heat stops working, and the reset switch has to be reset. So it has been two months now, and I have had to reset the switch three times. This is just a ridiculously faulty product, and Im truly concerned; there is a fire hazard with some sort of electrical issue with this dryer. I am getting rid of it ASAP and going back to Maytag, which I might add, I had a Maytag washer for 10 years and a Maytag dryer for 15 years and never once had a repair to them. Now that is true quality.

I want to start by saying we are very happy (so far) with the GWL11 Washer. It is 6 years old and 1 year out of extended warranty. I called the local factorys recommended shop on Thursday and Baker Appliance came out the next Monday. He ordered the part for regular delivery. A different repairman returned on Monday, a week later, to replace the electronic control unit. They discovered the wrong part was sent. He said the box had the correct part number on it but the part inside was incorrect. Does this happen a lot?My issue is, he told my wife they would ship the correct part the next day. I called them Tuesday to ask about the part delivery. The girl said she would check and call me back but never did. I left a message on Tuesday night and she called me back Wednesday morning and said she didnt have it yet. I called again and explained what the repairman had said. She asked someone in her office about it. She said they werent told and it would be another $50 for next day shipping. I then gave up.Wouldnt Fisher & Paykel absorb the additional cost if they shipped the wrong part? I spent more than $50 at the laundromat over the last 2 weeks. We have 5 people in our home.

I’m pissed off because the dryer was about four years old and I had to have it worked on about three times and ended up throwing it away. On the top load, the plastic parts just broke and the door wouldn’t come up and jammed. It got brittle and broke out. I spent about $900 for this dryer. Right at four years and it just fell apart. The bearings went out about two times. And one of the switches went out. And the door got misaligned. The parts must have been breaking then and so it caught and bent the door. I loved that dryer but I had to get a front load. The top load was more convenient for me. I am not satisfied because of the parts. They need to change the parts. The hard plastic parts dry out and become brittle when it gets heated enough and the bearings they use on there should be linear bearings as they are much smoother rolling and quieter bearings. I could have gone and got another type of dryer than go back to Fisher & Paykel, but I went back to Fisher & Paykel because that’s what I believe in and I got the service out of it, but, if I have another disappointment, they won’t get anything else from me again

I have a Fisher Paykel 12 year dishwasher Model DD603. And when the top drawer stop working I did not wanted to call the factory service because I thought about the high cost of factory service calls. What a mistake that was. After checking with several local appliance companies I finally located one that said that they did work on Fisher Paykel dishwasher. After three visits during one month and after replacing several parts the serviceman finally gave up and said I cannot fix it, please call the factory service.I did send an email to Fisher Paykel service department and I received an immediate response confirming my request and 2 days later the service call was confirmed. The friendly service man arrived early (something very unusual for servicemen). It took one look at the dishwasher, did a five-minute software diagnostic, remove the front cover of the top dishwasher and point at the control box and said that is what is wrong. One small plastic tab of the control box was broken and the box was loose. He explained that because the age of the dishwasher the plastic becomes brittle and started to break. Gave me the price of the new box, very reasonable and mentioned he had one on his truck. He went ahead to get the new box. Close the cover, tested the dishwasher and he was out to the next service call in 20 minutes. It cost me $330 for a job well done. Great service and if you have a Fisher Paykel dishwasher do not call any other than the service department of Fisher Paykel. Great service. Thank you.

I have to say this is the worst dishwasher I have ever had. It does not clean dishes. The detergent does not dissolve. The draw smells like rotten eggs. The customer service from the company is one of the worst reps I have ever dealt with. When I put the dishwasher on the 30 minute cycle my dishes are dirty and the dishwasher does not get really hot. Whatever you do stay away from DCS. We purchased a DCS 6 burner Range-top, fridge, and wall oven in November 2014. No problem with anything until second batch of Christmas cookies a week before Christmas when the oven temp dropped to 140. Repairman said we needed a micro temp limiter and another limiter. He said he could probably fix it before Christmas if he could get the parts. Having selected DCS because of offices and warehouse in California we thought we were going to be roasting turkey and baking rolls for a big family Christmas dinner... Not exactly. Sometime last Fall the Fisher and Paykel brain trust closed all their US warehouses and all phone calls for customer service are now routed to New Zealand. The Kiwis working the phones in Wellington are useless. They can tell us they know the parts have been ordered but they dont have them in stock and they cannot tell us when they will be available to ship to the US. Weve been without the wall oven for a month now. Crossing our fingers that the fridge and range-top keep working.

We have had a Fisher & Paykel dish drawer for a few years and have been pleased with the dish drawer after we learned some of the nuances of a dish drawer. Recently, we had to replace the rotor. I contacted the company to purchase the rotor and found it was less expensive buying it directly. The company was easy to work with and the item sent quickly. After replacing the rotor, we found there were more problems than we had initially thought. I contacted the authorized repair facility and they also were great to deal with. However, I would like to see other dealers in order to do some price comparisons because we had to pay extra fees on top of the repair bill due to the distance. They also charged quite a lot per hour. The repairman was extremely helpful on teaching me something so I could repair the drawer on my own if I ever had to.The repairman contacted F&P due to some previous poor repairs before we owned the home. F&P offered to pay for the parts, we just had to pay for labor. The repairman repaired the most difficult part that we initially called him about and I was able to order other parts and repair them myself later. The entire experience (although frustrating to be sans a dish drawer) was very easy and in all cases, the parts were cheaper dealing directly with F&P. I will also say it really was great to at least have one drawer to wash dishes while the other was out of commission. The only reason it is 4 stars instead of 5 was due to a shipping error which delayed my order. It would be nice to get an email confirmation regarding what parts are being shipped in order to catch such errors before time is wasted.

Refrigerator model #E522BLX - I bought this fridge 4 years ago from SEARS Canada because my 35 year old never repaired Amana fridge suddenly broke down. I had a problem finding a fridge that would fit in the space built around the Amana and wasnt in a position to renovate the kitchen to accommodate a new fridge. I didnt know anything about the Fisher Paykel brand, and unfortunately, relied on the Sears appliance specialists knowledge and honesty.I was advised that the fridge had a very good 5 year warranty and excellent customer service and Sears would also stand behind the brand should anything go wrong. I bought it because it was the only fridge, at the time, that could fit in the space and I paid about $2,000 for it. Well 2 months ago the fridge started to make a noise that sounded similar to the noise I heard when my Amana fridge broke down. That was related to a compressor problem. The noise has steadily worsened and its driving me up a wall.I found out from Sears Canada that they no longer carry the Fisher Paykel brand (I wonder why) and therefore cant provide me with any service. When I contacted the FP customer service # I was directed to someone in New Zealand and I quickly concluded that their so called excellent customer service was totally false. I further learned that the fridge I bought has been discontinued (I wonder why). The extent of their assistance was to provide me with service repair contacts in the U.S. Anyone I contacted in Toronto is unwilling to service the model. It is now Christmas and I am now out of a fridge and $2000. FP doesnt give a damn. Although they did not outwardly admit it but I think they knew that there was an embedded defect with their fridge and therefore discontinued it without advising customers like me.There should have been a recall notice and offer to replace the model or at least make some effort to repair problems without costing the customer big bucks and aggravation. Do not ever buy anything manufactured by Fisher Paykel. And dont buy any appliance from Sears. Their appliance specialists are not specialists and are trained only to make a sale at the customers risk. They will not ensure that: your satisfaction continues long after your initial purchase. This is the statement that they include in their brochure.

In 2008, I purchased a washer/dryer from F&P. The person talked me into an F&P when I really wanted something else. Never hearing about this product, he convinced me it’s the best out there and their biggest seller. Boy, he was wrong! The washer sounds like a jet airplane when it spins. Sometimes, I have to spin them twice to get all the water out. The bearings in the dryer have been replaced 2-3 times, the thermostat, sensor module, and central module. Each time was at least $100 or more for a total of 5-6 times. I contacted a representative and was given a case number. Today, I called because the bearings are going again. That means another service charge. The next step will be the curb!

Fisher Paykel washer and dryer. They are from New Zealand I believe. They were fairly low priced for high-efficiency machines and the washer was a top loader AND conserved water (like the front loaders) but for a better cost. The washer drum is floating and is moved with a magnet. No parts rubbing and strap to change. Pretty neat technology. It also has a large capacity allowing bigger loads (and less of them). The dryer is efficient and takes exactly the same amount of time as the washer to wash a load... Perfect timing. The washer has high spin speed which explains why the drying is fairly quick. We have had these machines probably close to 8-10 years now. Brand reputation is important and we are willing to do some research as we did when we bought the Fisher & Paykel machines. We always look for the best value for our money for products that meet our requirements. We are also willing to wait for the sales. The critiques you read from users are very insightful and we can be turned off if several people have issues with something that we know would bother us too. For example, low quality construction, excessive vibration, too much soap residue, too much time to dry, etc. We are very happy with the Fisher Paykel washer and dryer we purchased 8-10 years ago. They are high efficiency, large capacity, top loader (washing machine); making them very user friendly and efficient. I have no regrets even though they dont look as cool as the front loaders but on the other side, I probably paid half the price of the good looking ones and I have the same value.

As far as the product itself, weve had a great experience with the refrigerator. My biggest issue is with the water filter. It is suggested that you replace the water filter every 6 months. The filters are $50. I find that to be highway robbery. Its absurd to buy a refrigerator and then have to buy new water filters every 6 months. Theres no doubt you could make a filter that lasts longer than that and thats less expensive. I would venture to guess the profit margin on the filter is greater than on the refrigerator. Other than that, my experience has been great. I just feel taken advantage of with respect to the filter.

I went to the appliance store called Melzen’s Appliance at Glastonbury and they informed me about Fisher & Paykel. Never heard of it before. It was one of the most expensive refrigerators I’ve ever bought in my life - it was $1600. I’m married for 35 years and I’ve had refrigerators before this. I was shocked at the price but had to buy it because of the size (it had to fit into a specific area). I also wanted a stainless and a refrigerator on top. It had so many of the things I wanted. It was delivered November of 2012.I love the F&P refrigerator except I do have an issue with it that I did go back to the appliance store to tell them that when I opened up the door, something came flying out of the refrigerator. I told them, “Look at this piece, what do I do.” The guy looked at it and said, “Oh that just goes underneath the door of the refrigerator, just glue it.” I said, “Glue it? You know this refrigerator is only 6 months old - really?” He goes, “Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with your refrigerator right?” I said, “Correct” “So well, just glue it. It’s fine. Because if I send out a repair man, that’s what they’re going to do and they’re gonna charge you.” So I still have the piece here and it doesn’t impede or impact what’s going on with the refrigerator. I haven’t glued it yet because I’m having a hard time thinking that I have to glue this on my new refrigerator.I like the performance. I’m satisfied, though I’m not happy that a piece flew out on me.

I absolutely hated the Maxima Maytag set that I had gotten and had been a M
I absolutely hated the Maxima Maytag set that I had gotten and had been a Maytag person for about 30 years. I actually got rid of it, a very recent purchase of a Maytag frontloading set, because I didn’t like them at all and I like this Fisher & Paykel top loading set a lot. I love it! I’m really pleased with the purchase. It’s much more efficient. It’s easy, easy, easy, easy to use, not complicated at all. I like the fact that it’s simple and that it doesn’t have a lot of extras that I don’t need and would never use. But actually, even as it is, it has more than I use now, but it’s good. Space-wise, it’s not as deep, which is great, because in my case, I was kind of surprised by the depth of the front loader and it was inconvenient because it got in our way. So that was another reason why I got rid of the other one. And I’d only had the other set for a year. There’s two comments that I’d like to make with this F&P set… First thing is that I’m unhappy not being able to soak clothes because that’s a nuisance. I’m used to old top loaders where you could fill up the tub, put some bleach in there and soak it overnight, and you can’t do that with this. And unless there’s a way that I can be taught how to do it, I actually called the main headquarters and they simply said it wasn’t possible. Secondly, I’m not sure if it’s what I’ve been using for laundry soap, but it seems like things are a little dingier than they used to be. I’m not sure. I think that might be the soap that I’m using. It’s the whites aren’t getting as white as I’m used to. But I don’t think that’s the washing machine; I think that’s my products. The cleaning products that I use, I’ve always made my own, and I’ve never had a problem with things getting completely clean before and it seems like maybe there’s a residue because they’re not using as much water. And so, I changed back to the high efficiency stuff and everything seems just fine, but it’s a lot more expensive than what I do. Overall, it’s a great machine!

I had a Maytag that I had been suffering through with for two years and hated it unbelievably and I did not want one of those front loader machines because of all the mold and whatever issues with the door, and I have to worry about leaving the door open and cleaning the door, cleaning the machine and all that stuff for I got the Maytag and oh my God! I felt like it did a terrible job. I dont like my washing machine being locked for a big long period of time that I cant get into it and I have to sit there and wait and wait. It was horrible. I only used it on one cycle and that was the cycle that filled it all the way up because it didnt do a good job the rest of the time. Finally, I just had enough and I started researching, which I had researched when I bought that one too. But I started researching and really reading a ton of consumer information out there on the internet. I noticed that some other people have had the same problem I had and they bought this Fisher & Paykel. My husband knew I was looking for one and he came up with the same one. I said, Well, I dont know. I guess Ill try it. Well order it from Sears. I paid 200 and some dollars just to have it brought to me. But it was supposed to be new in the box so I ordered it from their outlet. Ever since I have gotten it, the minute you pushed for it to unlock, it stops immediately and its unlocked. And so, thats not an issue for me at all. It doesnt finish its cycle and then unlock. I truly love it. And I choose my own level that its going to be at. You can do that or you can let it do its own thing. I checked it a couple of times when Ive let it do its own thing and it seems just to fill it to where it should. But Im kind of old school so I like to choose my own water level. Also, sometimes Ill wash a load and do a little bit of a bleach in it, and then I want to rewash the whole thing. Once that water spins out of there, I can push it forward to be done with the cycle and start it over again, and that works. The other one did not work - I had to let it complete and for being so energy efficient it used so much energy you just cant even believe. This one, you still get to tell it what to do, you are in charge of it, and it does an excellent job.

This is the second FP washer owned but this time, we bought the new high efficiency one! Clothes often come out with black, greasy, soapy streaks on them, sometimes permanent staining. We use the recommended HE detergent and barely reach line 1 on the cap (any more causes loads of foam and machine to complain). Agren Appliances, from whom we bought the machine, sent out a technician to take a look but no remedy found. We have taken the damaged clothing to them and shown them what happens. They kindly gave us some powder detergent but the FP booklet recommends HE liquid detergent only. On calling FP customer service, we were told we were probably using too much detergent. Ha, if we use any less, we wonder whether our clothes will actually be cleaned! So what do we do? This machine is less than 1 year old and its a disaster. There is no support from the store we bought it from (despite having taken out extra service warranty) and FP doesnt want to help either. Surely, a machine cannot be HE if after washing it leaves clothes with dark streaks on them, hence needing a second wash! I dont see the efficiency in that! There seems to be little option other than to take it to the scrap heap and buy a new machine, different brand naturally. Hunk of junk, never to be recommended to anyone.

I looked up Fisher and Paykel online. I purchased from them because they offered two-drawer dishwasher and I have read some good reviews. I needed a new dishwasher with two drawers so I can open it all the way and get more things into it. I would definitely recommend Fisher and Paykel to my friends.

I bought two appliances from Fisher Paykel - a double wall oven, $4K, and a range top $2K. I had decided to buy another brand, but was told in the store, that Fisher Paykel was offering a $600 rebate, for buying two appliances. A wall oven, Plus a cook top, or washer, etc. So I bit that carrot, and paid more for the Fisher Paykel, than I would have for the Kitchen Aid or the Wolf cooktop.I have had to spend so much time to try to receive this rebate. Probably 20 emails, several phone calls, numerous submissions of the claim form. There was some problem with it, every time. In the end, they said, I didnt qualify: because this is for a Wall oven, and cooktop. You purchased a Range Cooktop. Its still the same, it has 6 burners, and the range top style is actually more expensive than the basic cooktop. Its just rubbish, that they dont honor these rebates. I have tried to submit over and over, and it has been so frustrating. I have no idea if the appliances work well or not. But the rebate process does not. Dont fall for that.

My first F&P dryer worked fine for a year and then continually tripped thermal switches. One actually has to remove a panel to reset this as it is not accessible from the outside of the dryer. F&P finally replaced this (well, I got a new dryer for the privilege of paying them $250 for the prorated use of the old dryer). I also spent another $250 re-venting the dryer because they were concerned that the venting that worked fine for my 25 year old Maytag was insufficient for their unit. Dryer #2 developed a bearing squeak--quiet at first but now is extremely loud. The tech from the company that sold me the dryer claims the bolt is frozen and the bearing cannot be replaced or at least cannot be replaced for a service call cheaper than half the price of actually replacing the dryer. Meanwhile, THAT store has ceased selling the product and no longer will work on F&P machines. The tech recommended by F&P after this told me the same thing and recommended that I save my money and buy Samsung.

Before ordering, please check that the delivery company will be able to get the appliance in your kitchen. I ordered an American fridge freezer, but when it arrived they could not get it into my kitchen. The delivery boys were lovely and they said they could probably get it in, if the doors and drawer were removed, but they could not find a way to remove the drawer. I called Fisher and Paykel and they could not help either and suggested that I just took doorstep delivery and work the rest out for myself! Very disappointing, so to avoid disappointment yourselves, please check this out before you order. Incidentally, I live in a detached house with standard size openings.

I love the quietness of the machine. It washes well. The problem I have is that it is hard to get it warranted. It is not a common brand. I love the stainless steel drum and the different settings help me select the exact setting to use.

We remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. We bought FP appliances because we liked the look of them. They are very sleek, with most other brands being big and bulky looking. In the 3 years we have had a service call on the refrigerator, dishwasher and oven. We have now been without an oven for 3 months. We have had 4 service calls and no one can fix it. It takes about one hour to heat up and then the service guy said it is off 80 degrees. They have finally decided to replace it, on our extended warranty. The question is whether to get another FP. They appear to break a lot and no one can repair them. Thats why I came to this website.

I needed a new fridge and I found a Fisher & Paykel fridge with a design that I love. Its been a year and a half now. I like that its big and theres a lot of space inside. Its performing well and the only problem I have is the water machine and the temperature control which is not working. Its not under guarantee so Im trying to see what my other options are. Its a good fridge, if I fix the little problem, it will be perfect.
