Product Reviews:

After 5 years of great service our water heater started acting up. The plumber says 15 days until they can come out to fix, A. O. Smith stood behind the warranty and sent the much needed parts next day. I mean the very next day at no cost not even for shipping. I've never dealt with a warranty issue this easily. Simple install, Great company, great customer service. I look forward to many more years using their products.

I have a Rheem water heater Model # 22V30F with a broken "Pilot Knob". I contacted Rheem and multiple parts suppliers. They all told me the same thing. Rheem does NOT sell the Pilot Knob individually. I need to purchase the "Gas Control Valve" which costs anywhere from $80.00 to $150.00. What a ripoff! Only the Federal Government would pay $80.00 or more for a knob that is worth less than $5.00. I guess Rheem wants to Ream their customers. I will never ever purchase any Rheem products again. I have seen the same knob on other brands of water heaters. I will try to get a knob from one of them.

The water heater is right about okay. But we have lime in our water from being south of the Potomac. So we have to change out our water heaters more than people from other states do. Even though we have the lime issue, this water heater (cross your fingers, knock on wood) has held up quite well. However, I wish it came with a filter to stop the lime from getting in the water heater to begin with. Then we wouldn't have to change them out so much.

Purchased a Whirlpool water heater (model ND50T122-403) through Lowe’s in Dec 2013. Later discovered online it fraught with breakdown issues. 11 months later ours broke down. Whirlpool Customer Service first told us "We don't have any authorized plumbers in your area." Went to Lowe’s the next day - they called on their hotline and we got a call back from Whirlpool that afternoon. Told us part would ship out immediately (arrived next day - no complaints there) and gave us an authorization for 2 plumbers. Both are over 35 miles away and one is out of state. Called once the part arrived... First one said he'd try to get to us in the next 4-7 days; second one said "We get to warranty work as fill-in work. We'll put you on a list and call if we're going to be in your area." While we did a bit of web research before buying this water heater, we really should have taken the model number, gone home and googled it before buying. Wish we'd gone with a unit from a real plumbing supply place. They were a lot more expensive but you get what you pay for.

I purchased a hot water heater and it was installed June 14, 2014. Two months later It lost the heat. The pilot light was difficult to work. The plumber who sold it to me came... got it started and in about 3 or 4 months it stopped again, in November at Thanksgiving time it quit again. The plumber started it again then in Dec at Christmas time it quit again. The plumber replaced the starting equipment and it lasted until February 19, 2015 then stopped again. I bought and paid for a hot water heater. I am not at all satisfied with this and would like to hear from you just how I get out of this mess.

I bought this piece of junk heater (serial no. 0804T411536) from Lowe's and had their contract plumber install it in or about 2008. Since that time, I have had nothing but trouble with it. It just doesn't stay lit. Every plumber who works on it tells me that they have numerous problems with them and they cannot repair them - the customer has to get the part from Whirlpool. And today the woman I talked to told me that I had to pay the shipping charges, which vary according to how quickly one wants hot water! I personally find that a true rip off. If you can't guarantee the product you put on the market, then don't put it out there. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance or shop at Lowe's!

Purchased a water heater from them maybe 2012, water heater pilot light continued to go out. Re-light go out after several months, called them constantly never any result. Mailed a screen kit, but did not work. Default with them over and over again. They know what they are doing - wait until your warranty is out then tell you it has expired, also treats you like you are a plumber and know what's going on. If I did why would I be calling you. What good is a warranty if your customer satisfaction fails. Have to purchase a new heater but will not deal with a company that carries RELIANCE. Do not buy any RELIANCE products. BEWARE.

Bought a new Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater and was installed in new home in August 2015. Worked for three months, then had issues with NO hot water. Getting error code. Contacted company and after several attempts and disconnects finally got someone. Was told that the venting was improper and to contact plumber to have them look at it and then send the bill for reimbursement. We did as we were told, changed venting per their specifications and still does not work correctly. Plumbing company contacted Rheem and they sent new blower assembly. This was replaced and did NOT fix the problem. Again contacted Rheem spent over 2 hours trying to get someone. Finally got someone in another department who transferred to supervisor. They have supposedly contacted Menard's to reimburse us for the bad water heater, but now are refusing to reimburse us for the bill that was incurred by having a plumber come out. They are stating we did not provide the correct documentation showing a defect. Bill was sent that we received from plumbing company stating their fees.We cannot understand why no one is looking into this company regarding all these issues that this company is having with their bad product and NOT honoring their warranty. This company is causing frustrations on customers that should not be happening and not honoring anything in their warranty booklet. Nor are the phone numbers that they are listing on this warranty numbers that consumers are able to get through. When talking to the supervisor I brought this issue up and even asked him if he has ever tried calling the number listed. He said frankly no. I asked him to please do this as well as forward this on to individuals that are higher up so that they are aware of this issue. I would seriously hope that this company look into their issues with their products and take note of what consumers are dealing with.

In a period of 5 years I had had two water heaters fail. Very low quality and poor customer service. I was made to feel like I should be grateful that lasted that long and their ridiculous warranty covers nothing. Avoid this brand.

I had a Bradford White water heater model #M45036FBN, S/N DM10005845, D/N -394 installed on January 25, 2008. On Friday evening, November 9, 2012, I noticed no hot water at the faucets. I checked the water heater, found the tank leaking and the pilot light out. I shut off both gas and water supply. I called the installation plumber. I could not get someone to come till Tuesday, November 13, because Monday, November 12, is Veterans Day. This plumber, Perfection Plumbing of Temecula, CA, advertised to be 24/7 service. I called another plumber, VIP Plumbing, and someone came on Saturday at 8 am. I had to pay for labor because this is not the installation plumber. VIP Plumbing said they will take care of the warranty issue with Bradford White. I called Bradford White and was told that warranty does not cover labor at all, even for defective product. When asked whether pro-rated labor cost will be reimbursed, I was told that warranty does not cover labor, like talking to a machine. Defective, yet the consumer has to pay for re-install; quite a scam. Unfortunately, the replacement water heater had to be the same model Bradford White too. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop in less than 6 years. If and when that happens, no Bradford White for me or anyone else I can persuade and talk to about water heaters.
