Being HVAC technician, I have installed this unit on some my clients, and all I can stress is that it is a good unit as long as the installation process is performed by someone who perfectly knows when he is doing and not just anyone. The mistake that many users do is to install a unit without the help of an expert, this leads to poor installation, and the unit starts having problems too early, and some do not even end. Proper installation of any unit is essential if you want your furnace to last long enough. The only bad thing I had with this unit is the unit being a little noisy; the manufacturer should do something about the noise. I read a lot of these complaints, and some are easy to fix the problem. Example if your going thru ignitors, have your tech check the ground on the unit and maybe the house. Should cure that. Some say on high heat it overheats and shuts down and starts again. Ok duct may be undersized, filter clogged, A-Coil clogged with pet hair, dirt, etc. As far as brands go, Trane doesn't seem to have the class actions like a lot of them do. Believe it or not, it is not the evil equipment you may think, it might have an easier explanation. If you have one that works for a while quits and two hours later, the drain trap is clogged. When it finally drains down it allows the pressure switch to close and works till it's full of water again. Lighten up people… The dealers don't want it breaking down on you either…Dan Iowa

After six years of owning this unit, I have had only two repairs, and I can frankly tell that it works efficiently just as it is supposed to do. Additionally, after doing the two repairs, I have experienced tremendous energy savings as my power and gas bills have gone down with clear margins. I would recommend any person to buy Armstrong and get the best value for your money. The key to having your gas furnace to last long enough is to have a good installer, most likely the contractor or a technician with enough experience on installation. I have been selling and installing York/JCI equipment for decades. We have installed thousands, and as an authorized dealer, we are trained by the factory and stay on top of all the new equipment install requirements. Our warranty program is in two parts. 10 year parts, which does not include labor costs, and then part two is offered at a small additional charge, which includes parts, labor, and anything else needed to make the repairs or replacement of the faulty equipment. When installed properly, these unit simply do not have problems. Out of over 5,000 systems we have had 4 actual warranties, which is an unheard of low percentage industry wide. Each contractor is obligated to explain the system warranties and what is available to them to be sure to have all the correct information. Each review I have seen on this system is of issues that were avoidable if installed or managed correctly by the dealer. True York dealers that do the job right just don't have these issues.Michael Melton
