I bought a brand new GE Dishwasher GDWT308VBB delivered October 3, 2012 which promised: 5-stage filtration with Piranha hard food disposer, 5 self-cleaning filters ensure clean dishes, dedicated silverware jets, highly pressurized spray jets target the silverware area for improved cleaning; steam prewash - loosens tough soils before any cycle virtually eliminating the need for soaking or pre-rinsing dishes; auto wash cycle - cycle automatically adjusts to soil level to maximize energy savings and ensure clean dishes; natural convection heated dry option, a drying element effectively dries dishes reducing the need to towel dry after unloading; 52 dBA sound level - nearly silent two-pump system cleans dirty dishes without disruption. No matter which cycle or combination of features I use, my dishes have yet to be cleaned. Contrary to advertising above, I do need to rinse dishes prior to cleaning in dishwasher and also rewash dishes after dishwasher cycle is completed. I previously had a Maytag which at 15 years old performed better than this new GE Dishwasher. I have written GE describing my dissatisfaction and expect their promises to be delivered.

I know this commonplace complaint, like thousands before me, will head straight into the wind because the world just works in this way: technical support and repairs works as a profit center for a corporation. My GE Profile microwave abruptly failed out of warranty after years of use. The cause was due to a wire burning up inside that had not been loosely connected, said the GE technician, so this was an issue of inadequate quality--not bad enough to cause the microwave to fail quickly but enough to cause failure over time. After taking the microwave out of the built-in cabinet, it only took the technician about 5-8 seconds to find and diagnose the problem, several minutes to get the right part (a wire) from the truck, and a couple of minutes to fix it. The labor charge was $121 for about 7 minutes of repair work, to be liberal with time. (This charge is separate from the charge to come to our home and diagnose the problem.) This prorates to over $1,000/hour for a basic wiring change, which I think is exorbitant. I understand that the technician is a highly trained individual, but this is already reflected in the high labor rate.According to GE, the cost to replace the built-in microwave, which came with a matching stainless steel frame would be $550 if we wanted the new microwave to match the frame at least (but not necessarily the oven, stove, etc.). This is the kind of cost you dont think about when you buy a new home built with matching appliances--well, I didnt. Companies like GE can rationalize all they want about all the overhead associated with servicing a repair call. I can certainly grant them some leeway, but in the end, charging an extra 8 times more an already high labor rate given the time needed to fix the problem is simply price gouging a consumer who has no good recourse. (This is why I pretty much avoid repairing anything, except for my car. Its almost never worth it.)I recently had an experience with an experienced plumber charging an hourly rate of $150, prorated by and rounded up to half-hour increments of work, regardless of difficulty of work. Repairing an appliance should work the same way, and my GE bill would have been halved. Because of such profiteering, I will not consider purchasing a GE appliance in the future. I pray that this microwave doesnt break down again in the coming years due to some other problem. It would be a lot less expensive to just buy a non-matching portable microwave then for $100-$150 than to keep up appearances. To be fair, the woman who fielded my service call was courteous and empathetic. Because the microwave apparently had an electrical burning problem, she previously waived the diagnosis fee. Otherwise, my simple repair would have run several hundred dollars, more than the cost of the microwave. However, she was unwilling to reduce the labor charge, so based on how strongly I felt ripped off, I give GE a star rating overall.

The dishwasher in the first year the mother board went out then had a problem with the motor and now has gone out again and had a repair come out and cant figure out why it doesnt work. the refrigerator has gone out 5 times, the most recent is 8/1/11 and always the same problem. When ever the humidity is high the frig freezes up and then it stops running. Im very disappointed in GE, Ill never again by another GE appliance.

GE Microwave Model WES1450DN1BB 1.4 Cubic Ft 1100 Watt - This product is absolute garbage! This product was manufactured in June 2010 and I purchased it in approximately in May of 2011. So after 13 months of moderate use, the unit no longer functions properly. Needless to say, the product is out of warranty by about a month, so I pretty much now have nothing more than an overweight paperweight.I wont bore you with all the details, but for the most part, the touch pad stopped working and if left plugged in, the microwave will start on its own and run for up to a minute before beeping incessantly. If I unplug the unit and plug it back in, Ill receive a different error message, and so on. I wont waste my time contacting GE, because from what I hear, they really dont give a damn! When I was young, you could by an American-made product and expect it to last for many years. However, ever since greedy corporate America decided to ship all our jobs overseas in the name of profits, I have yet to find any imported products that are worth a damn. Instead of one good American product that would last a lifetime, I now have to purchase the same imported piece of ** many times over to get the same longevity. Maybe this is what GE wants?Needless to say, GE has now been placed on my Do Not Buy list. I guess I will now buy from another major manufacturer to see if their foreign-made garbage is any better!

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave, GE Profile **, on 2/22/2005 as part of a kitchen renovation. I also purchased the GE Profile dual-fuel range, **, and the Profile ** refrigerator at the same time.I am now having to replace the over-the-range microwave as the interior enamel is chipping off in chunks rather than the discreet amounts in the beginning. The dual fuel range burst into flames and was replaced 3 years ago (the line was eventually recalled). The tracks that support the drawers in the refrigerator are breaking off slowly but surely, meaning they will not be useable shortly. I would not take a GE appliance as a gift.

GE Profile microwave Model: PEB7226SF1SS came as part of the builder installation. In the first year had issues with the microwave not starting intermittently and had to call GE support who sent in a technician who had to work on the door alignment and the switch was the problem which said to have fixed. About 2.5 year from purchase the heating seemed to be irregular which we did not take much notice and then it stopped working completely. We called GE support and did get the usual routine of the product being out of warranty and have to pay for the technician. While scheduling they realized they did not have a their own service person in the vicinity and was advised to reach out to local service person.Local technician diagnosed that the magnetron has gone bad and advised most manufacturers have 10 years warranty on the magnetron as they are supposed to last for a long time and I should reach out to GE. Having reached out to GE support again to our surprise were advised that unlike most manufacturers this product did not have 10 year magnetron warranty. Customer service, part service and customer relations kept redirecting to each other. GE does not provide an option to sell the replacement magnetron to the customer and now want their authorized center to be engaged and paid again to have the part ordered and installed. Disappointed with GE product quality, their stand on warranty compared to their competition and their service which has given me run around and no solution. I have written to them asking for solution which they havent responded yet.

I knew it could not be just my appliance that was doing this. It is peeling A LOT under the turning dish, but unfortunately I cant afford to buy another oven/micro appliance now. This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

I purchased a GE Microwave oven, model #JVM1540DP1BB and, in seven months, the interior paint started peeling. I contacted the company and they said, go ahead and use it. It wont hurt anything. (Well, actually, it doesnt heat as well now.) They offered me a discount on another GE Microwave. I advised them that the oven was manufactured three months prior to my purchase and so the Microwave was only ten months from birth to death - it was also made in Malaysia and so was purchased practically straight off the boat - and should have been covered under warranty. The response to that was, Im sorry. Im only authorized... Fine. Let me talk to your boss, I said.I was connected to another company mouthpiece who promised to send a serviceman out to look at it. The next week, said serviceman did come to the house. He told me they could take it in and ...see if they could fix it or they could give me a discount on another one. Again I iterated that the microwave should be replaced at no cost. He flat out told me, They wont do that.My next fiasco with this danger trap was several months later when it started turning on of its own accord. So, we had to keep the oven unplugged at all times unless actively in use. I again contacted GE and was again advised that they would be happy to offer me a discount on another... blah, blah, blah. After a couple of years of using this machine, I called GE one last time. I spoke to the regional vice-president, Gary **. The response this time was truly mind-boggling. They had no record of my having called previously!!! But, after telling them I felt their product was inherently defective by design and, not only would I never purchase another GE product EVER, I have emptied my house of any and all GE products right down to the light bulbs, have purged my mothers house, and advise everyone I know of my experience, recommending they, too, do not patronize GE.He began repeatedly screaming at me, What do you want me to do? I told him that, two or three years previous, I wanted them to replace a defective microwave. Now, and following their abhorrent customer service, I wouldnt want anything from them and, if they were to tell me the sky was blue and water was wet, I would not believe them. I was not inclined to pay six hundred dollars yearly for a new microwave oven, so there was nothing they had I would ever want. I then pointed out that I purchased a Sony microwave for my mother when my grandson was six years old. Hes twenty-four now and both the id and the oven are still going strong. Then HE hung up on ME! I have noticed others here who have had similar experience with GE Microwaves so my recommendation to anyone considering a new microwave oven is to steer clear of GE at all costs. I only gave them a one star rating because I couldnt give them a negative star rating.

I had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when I purchased my home. The dishwasher had a fire in the wiring harness for the energy save drying switch. The dishwasher was under warranty and was repaired by GE without issue, and they told me it was safe. About 2 years later, GE recalled the dishwasher for having started numerous fires throughout the country. As part of the recall program, GE offered incentives towards the purchase of a new dishwasher; however, unless you purchased another GE dishwasher, you received virtually nothing. I purchased the top of the line GE Triton performance plus dishwasher and had it professionally installed, and given my previous dishwashers history, I purchased an extended warranty from GE. This new allegedly top of the line dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen, causing several thousand dollars in damage to the floor / sub floor and ceiling below. GE was contacted, came out, and made a repair; and my damage claim was paid by GEs insurance carrier Electric insurance. Once again, 2 years later, this same dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen and downstairs. I contacted GE and found that my warranty had been sold by GE to an outside company named Assurant without my knowledge. They were unable to provide me with a service appointment for about 2 weeks and advised me not to touch anything until the damage was documented by a GE technician or my damage claim would be denied. I contacted GE customer service and explained the circumstances and that the water damage would need to be mitigated in order to prevent additional damage to my home. GE scheduled a sooner appointment, but they failed to show up. I called GE again; they rescheduled for the following day and failed to show again. GE was re-contacted, and they scheduled a third appointment with A&E, a GE affiliated outside repair service. This time, the technician arrived but was unable to do anything unless I made a cash payment to him, as GE failed to include my extended warranty information when they booked my appointment. I re-contacted GE, and the next available appointment date was more than two weeks away. I was concerned that the water damage would cause mold and create an electrical hazard due to wet wiring, and the water caused the laminate floor and sub floor in my kitchen and downstairs den to warp and buckle. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance in order to get this damage addressed. GE has been unable to get anyone to my home to address the situation. In total, I have spent about 16 hours on the telephone remaining on hold an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours for each call, only to be told there was nothing they could do or that no supervisor was available or authorized to do anything. Assurant advised me they would look into it and get back to me, but I have yet to receive a return call. GE corporate headquarters was contacted, and they were polite but unable to accomplish anything either. I am removing the appliance myself and having it replaced at my own expense with any brand other than GE. I would strongly urge anyone making an appliance purchase to choose another brand; GEs appliances, customer service, and repair service are all unreliable and well below standards based on the hundreds of dollars we spend on appliances. My decision to purchase a GE dishwasher has resulted in damage to my home in excess of $10,000.00 and an unbelievable amount of frustration and aggravation waiting for repair personnel that dont show and waiting on hold to speak to people who can do nothing for you. If I performed this badly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago. Learn from my situation and dont buy GE!

I own a GE over the stove Microwave that spontaneously turned on while I was sleeping. Once the unit was running for a bit, it caught on fire. It melted thru the glass plate before I woke up and was able to remove power from the unit and stop the fire. To GEs credit, they did send a tech out to our place. The tech never did anything to find out what caused the problem. Instead he was just looking to see if the unit was salvageable. He condemned the unit, and GEs solution was a $25 rebate on the next one of their products I would purchase. The liability GE would have been up for if I were not home would have been astronomical. This appliance put my property and the life of my family and neighbors in danger. GEs inaction on this problem shows that they have no concern for the safety of the consumers that use their products. The HR response has been appalling.

Negative 5 stars. I purchased a GE over the range microwave oven, JVM2052SN1SS, just over a year ago and had a service call to address a lack of exhaust about a month after my purchase. In summary, the tech said it would not function as a dedicated exhaust hood and nothing can be done. 14 months later, the key pad began malfunctioning. Also, the moisture sensor that the operation manual stated will automatically start the exhaust fan, never worked and every time we cook, moisture would build up between the glass on the microwave door.I called GE Consumer Relation today and they will not address this issue free of charge. I purchased this GE dishwasher May 2015 through Amazon. Immediately after installation I was having trouble where it kept beeping when I went to wash dishes. A repairman came out and said there was a recall on the control panel and he replaced - no charge. In July 2017 this dishwasher flooded onto my laminate floor. I found it in the morning when I woke up. An appliance repairman came out. Did not know why it flooded. No charge this time, but he made a few adjustments and it seemed fine. Then the bottom sprayer arm broke. The heat shields fell off and the arm melted. I had that replaced. Then the washer would not dry - no matter what I did. Repairman came out. He did not have access to the GE computer program but made some suggestions. No charge. Dishwasher seemed to dry better for two weeks. Then in August it flooded again. A repairman came out. Ran the dishwasher, but it did not flood, so he did not know what the problem was. This time charged me $60 and said call if it floods again. Obviously I am afraid to run the dishwasher at night or when I am away in case it floods again. Plus the dishwasher is not drying completely.I have contacted GE. Their response is: Normally we dont do this because your warranty has expired already; however, I have a bit of a soft spot and think some extra consideration is due. I did a lot of research and came up with a couple options to help you out: I realize this is not ideal but we can extend to you our discount into any new model if you find its not cost effective to repair. I found the 2017 comparable model for you. Really??? I dont want another GE. I want a refund as this is a piece of junk. Plus this kind person said it would only cost me $484 and I will have another warranty.

Our Profile over-the-range microwave failed after 2 years. (Warranty was for one year!) One day it suddenly died. The repairman ($100) said repeated twisting of the wire from the oven to the door (which contains all the electronics) is inevitable with opening and closing. The wire often breaks within its insulation: a bad design fault. No question of replacing the wire; we would have to order a new door, for nearly $400 plus $200 for installation, which requires 2 service technicians. This is more than the cost of a new OTR microwave. He advised us to get one with the controls beside, not in the door. Unfortunately GE is the only company that makes a microwave in the same colour as our range.

I have had two service calls on this dishwasher (Model Number GDT65SMJ0ES) and it is 18 months old. The first was to replace the heating element, which was under warranty. The recent problem was a cut-off switch that will trip when needed. The technician hooked up his computer to turn it back on, a very quick procedure, and it cost us almost $100. This unit should have a trip switch like a vacuum or garbage disposal so that the owner can do it themselves. After that, if the dishwasher still doesnt work, then a call for repair could be made. By the way, the repairman was very nice and respectful to us.

We bought a GE dishwasher and a GE oven/micro combo. We were told that we would have them in a week but it took three and a half weeks to get them. The dishwasher was damaged/defective and did not work; water leaked all over the floor several times and dishes wouldnt wash. They would not replace the unit but insisted that they had to service it. A couple more weeks passed and the repairman had to return thrice to finally get it to work. The microwave had a bent door that did not lineup properly when closed. Again, another repair was scheduled and we had to experience another service call. I have never had a worse experience buying appliances than I had at Pacific Sales. Kwam, the manager does not return phone calls. He made promises of helping us with a discount because of our troubles but has not kept those promises. Their contract installers are inept and unkempt. My appliances do not seem new since they were repaired and the door on the microwave is still not lined up as a new unit should be.This experience was an unmitigated disaster that should not happen to any consumer. Never will I buy anything from Pacific Sales or their parent Best Buy again. These problems are created by their management and their management does not care.

GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014.
GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014. Dishwasher worked well for a short period of time. Six months into ownership the unit began to leak and was quickly and efficiently repaired while under warranty. 10 months into warranty, the dishwasher began to rumble very loudly during every drain cycle, to the point where it sounded like it was going to walk out of the kitchen. Warranty tech showed up and had to order parts. Not sure which pump to replace he ordered both. Tech returns 10 days later and replaces both pumps. He turns power back on and the entire unit is dead electrically. Nothing works, pumps, motors, keypad, nada! Repair keypad was ordered along with a new wiring harness, just in case it was the source of the problem.2 weeks later, and one week before warranty expires, the repairman shows up and replaces the keypad and wiring harness. Yippie skippie, everything works but the tech is still confused, telling me the keypad lights should turn off at the end of the cleaning cycle, he could never make that happen. He completes his repairs on December 23. The unit performs flawlessly for 3 complete cycles, except the lights on the keypad never turn off at the end of the cleaning cycles.Sometime during the week of January 11-17 (while I was traveling) the unit dies again. Completely inoperable electrically. Follow up call with GE warranty service and the entire focus is on the fact that the warranty has expired. I keep pressing and the warranty person finally admits that service parts should carry a 30 day warranty. Service tech arrives and tells me he has to order parts. Keypad has been back ordered and I have no idea when it will show up.Totally unreliable expensive piece of junk. I can only imagine what the future holds. This experience seems to mimic Jack Welchs business philosophy to a tee - maximize profit and return to the shareholders while minimizing production costs and ignoring the customer needs completely. Highly recommend that you run any direction except towards purchasing any GE appliance, especially the Cafe series. Dishwasher. Nonexistent quality controls, no parts available, disappointing performance, extremely high price, P.O.S! DO NOT PURCHASE GE APPLIANCES. Negative Stars rating is what I would give this product. It will for good recycle materials at the scrap yard, sooner than later I am afraid!

First of all, I wish I had seen this site over two years ago and I wouldnt have purchased a GE product. But, that is spilled milk. My two year old microwave, GE 1750 over the range, started running on its own. I disconnected it and called GE and asked if they had experienced any problems with their product and if this was a fire hazard, the nice young lady put me on hold and did research and stated that no reports of a fire hazard or running on its own. My husband encouraged me to do my own research and guess what? shocking, I was lied to! There are reported fires on the news and a law firm has a class action lawsuit against GE! I guess because this appliance wasnt in the nice young ladys moms house it wasnt of importance to inform me of the fire hazard? GE is off of my list of products I would buy!

Microwave lasted 6 months, very light duty, burnt metal smell. Purchased from Walmart, they told us to contact GE. All GE could offer is a Good Will certificate which means, we have to go buy another GE microwave up to $155 in value. We pay taxes, shipping etc. Not really a customer-centric return policy for a lousy designed product made from cheap components in Asia. These microwaves are a piece of junk. This isnt the only complaint about this model of microwave. Others are experiencing the same problem all within the past 6 months. From March 2018 thru August. Stay away from these microwaves.

On 05/20/2014, our GE microwave over the stove unit burst into flames. My wife was using timer and walked away then turned around and heard the microwave fan start (spontaneously). Then she observed flames/smoke reflected in the Microwave window. She observed the interior of the microwave was aflame. The fire was extinguished with a rag & water. The burning items appeared to be plastic/insulation. The fan from the microwave was with the burning insulation on the rotating plate. Had this unit only 14 months during that time the microwave fan would turn itself on for 3 minutes and then turn off all by itself. Happened twice in 14 months. Glad we were at home and were able to extinguish the fire. Called Lennar the builder who put this unit in to take pictures and check electrical. Was told the GE unit was bad to call GE. I know this will be a hassle as others have had this same problem with not so good results.

Nothing happened...never has. It just wont wash dishes. I have to prewash every item that is put into this piece of garbage. I bought it new and have used it for 3 years. It remained in the box the first 5 years I owned it and it honestly did me as much good in the box as it has since we installed it. It makes a good rinser but wont even wash off a lemon seed left in the bottom of a glass. This is such a joke. I would never buy another GE product. The refrigerator I bought at the same time, a side-by-side, the entire front door froze solid within 2 years and we had to buy a new one. Your company stinks. This is a rip off of my money. My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. She has a neighbor with the same problem. I researched online and learned quite a bit about this machine. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Im now demanding that GE return $150 service fee that I paid before I found out that its a defective machine. And this machine has to be replaced with a model that allows cooking with vents on. If GE does not do the right thing, I will make it a life goal that no one buy their products. Mark my words. Im this angry because I called customer service this week and was told that theyll give me a new panel but I have to pay for the labor and no refund for the $150 and no replacement microwave. This was insulting. Shame on GE.

So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!

We purchased a GE Cafe Dishwasher in Oct. 2013, and in Nov 2014 we had a major leak that ruined our hardwood floor. We called GE and they authorized a repair even though our Dishwasher was 1 month beyond the 1 year warranty. Unfortunately is now the end of January 2015 and the dishwasher is still not fixed after 4 attempts by their recommended factory authorized repair company. I have called and written numerous documenting the failed attempt and inability of the repair company to fix our dishwasher, and asked for a replacement, and was denied. They have already spent about $900 to pay the repair company, which I would think would have been cheaper to have replaced the dishwasher and had a satisfied customer. So I have now been without an operational dishwasher for 2 months while it sits in the middle of my kitchen floor, as I wait for the cupping in my hardwood floor to lay down so I can get my floor repaired. Needless to say, I am very displeased with the quality of the GE Cafe dishwasher.

My dishwasher broke within warranty in April 2014. The warranty expired on April 29th, 2014. Every 2 weeks another part was ordered to the tune of 10 parts and 8 visits (unpaid work days for me). I have been in touch with consumer relations about this and I was told that this would go on forever until their techs deemed the dishwasher as unrepairable but as long as it is repairable, they will not exchange the machine. And now they are telling me (October) that I could have had another service provider fix it but I would have to pay for it because NOW it is out of warranty. I cant wait until I replace my GE refrigerator and my GE microwave because those are the last GE products that I will ever buy. I went out last month and bought another brand as I will never buy GE again. GE protocol I am told is what determines all that happened. I suggest you do the same. I have purchased a GE microwave/convection oven 7 months ago. A month ago, the control panel broke down and it would not turn on. I called up customer service and a technician was sent after a week. They have diagnosed it and the motherboard needed to be replaced. The said part was ordered and I was told it would be delivered in 2-3 days and a service will be scheduled in a week. A week came and no parts showed up. I have called up customer advocate and they assured me the said part will be delivered in time for the service appointment.Unfortunately, when they came, the said parts have not been delivered and I was given the lame excuse of systems failure; the request has not gone through their system. So the technician assured me that he will put in an overnight request for the said parts and the oven could be fixed within the week. He even gave me his work and cell number for me to call if I have any inquiries. But he never picks up or even returns my calls. So another service appointment was scheduled and parts were delivered, only to find out that it was the wrong parts, supposedly for another customer and for a different microwave model. Its really frustrating when people keep on reassuring that they are going to get it done, but has done nothing but lip service. Its been over a month and my microwave is still a broken microwave. I have learned my lesson and will never again in my life time purchase a GE appliance. PS: I should have listened to the Home Depot guy that sold me this microwave.

I remodeled my house 5 years ago and went with the GE Profile appliances in my kitchen. Last week I had run the dish washer cycle and noticed the soap had not dissolved and the dishes didnt seem to be clean so I ran the cycle again. I started it at about 8 pm and we went to bed not thinking any more about it. About 1 am I awoke to a horrible plastic burning smell. I checked through the whole house and could not find where it was coming from until I entered the kitchen. As I entered the room my eyes started streaming from the burn. I opened the dishwasher and smoke starting bellowing out of it. Not just smoke but a toxic smoke filled the room. The inside of the dishwasher was so hot and everything plastic inside was melted. The bottom drawer and parts of the dishwasher were also melted. The silverware tray full of silverware was all melted together. This all occurred in a matter of 5 hours. Had I not woke up when I did, who knows if we would have woke up.The house was full of toxic smoke that did not trigger the smoke detectors. We just went ahead and purchased a new dishwasher and had it installed yesterday. This morning my husband decided to do a little research on this product and found there was a recall last year. I contacted GE and found that our model was not part of the recall because it has a stainless steel interior, only the plastic interiors are part of the recall. I also found out that had we called them and had them send out a certified GE technician look at it, they would replace it. Too late it has already been replaced and sent to the recycle center. I did take pictures and have record of the model and serial number which doesnt matter. I just want to get it out there that this product is also dangerous and a fire hazard. I just dont know how to start to show how disappointed and upset Im about this Microwave. I know GE is good brand but this Microwave must be the worst. I bought this microwave between July or August in 2016. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt. I bought a cash at Home Depot in my area, because I bought it cash Home Depot unable to find a record of but they remembered I did buy there between that time. I know bought that time because I bought my house in July 20116. This microwave started giving problems since June 2017. When I call GE they told me, they cant help because I dont a receipt, and they told from their record, this microwave was purchase in January 2015, they didnt want to believe that I purchased it in 2016.They charged over $100 to have a technician to come, he has to order a part that cost as well over $100, when the part comes another technician came. It was the wrong part. He had to order another part. The technician came back and Microwave work for only 1 or 2 months and stop working. Its been very stressful with this Microwave. This microwave was the most expensive, I bought over $500-600. Even though from your record you said I bought it in 2015, it still unfair, no one expect to buy something that expensive and break down that fast. I dont what to do. Im just so frustrated about the whole situation. This microwave cost me about $ 1,000 now from price to repair, and yet still not working. We rarely use the China setting, but we do use the pots and pans and hygienic features as well. We also occasionally use the delayed start feature. Our dishwasher is a decent size four our family for daily use and for large get-togethers. Our house came with a WHITE dishwasher, which were not totally fond of as a personal preference, BUT, its LOOK and design are fine by our standards. It was the same thing; the panel glowed bright orange and then flamed. We waited a week for a GE tech to visit. He said the wave guide is burnt. Its non-repairable so were waiting for disposition from GE service. There wont be another GE micro in this house. P.S. - Were still waiting for the GE case manager to call back after leaving three messages.

First, I want to acknowledge that I misplaced my receipt due to a move, 8 storage units and 4 houses. But...I did register my new, never before installed dishwasher when it was installed October 2020. After install I ran it empty to test/clean it. IT LEAKED. I called GE to schedule repair. I was told it was manufactured in 2018 (another said 2019) and it was not under warranty. I explained I purchased it only a few months before and installation was delayed due to my contractors. They said I would have to pay for labor but the parts were covered under warranty. I didnt like it but agreed because I couldnt find the receipt (from a big box store).Local repair people came, after 2 more calls, 3 weeks later and fixed the leak. They did not run or check if anything else was wrong with the dishwasher. I began using it and quickly realized that it did not get the dishes clean. It does not heat the water, it does not dry, it cant possibly sanitize without heat and kitchen installer said it was missing the kick plate. Geez!! And this is just the things I know!! I have called 4 times now to schedule a service repair, each time having to explained the whole thing, sit on hold, ask to speak to a supervisor, be transferred to customer service and 4 times I have been DISCONNECTED!! I bought all GE appliances so they would match but I would give anything if I didnt have to deal with GE again!! Unfortunately, I will have to call again Monday or buy a different brand. Save yourself and buy another brand!!! Wish I could submit a picture.

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

I am writing this more as an educational notice for consumers of the G.E./Rheem gas water heaters to aid in uninterrupted service and understanding of the water heater. Installation locations: If you have installed your unit outside, all though in the owner’s manual, it states that G.E./Rheem says to never install the unit outside. People that live in warm climates do have their unit installed as such, but in a metal enclosure, of which to the city codes are fine, but again not by the G.E./Rheem standards. So being as this is accepted by city codes, people do and will continue to install water heater outside in enclosures.

We just purchased a new home and moved in about a month ago. The builder would only put in GE appliances despite our protests. We had purchased another new home 2 years before with a new GE water softener and GE reverse osmosis system. In the 2 years we were there, we had service people over on multiple occasions because they never worked correctly. The common message from all the service people was that GE makes junk. Corporate designed garbage designed to last only as long as the warranty. Dealing with GE was always a nightmare with long waits and customer service that worked banker’s hours. In other words, GE does not stand behind its garbage. In any case, we just bought another new house and the signature series microwave (billed as the best they make) would start to run spontaneously and beep when nobody was near it. We had to shut off the power to it just to make sure our house did not burn down. We researched it on the web and determined the keypad was bad. We told them this when we called in the warranty. They took a week to send a technician who would only work banker’s hours and forced me to take a day off work. He gets here and tells me that he had just tested the microwave and learned the keypad was bad! Duh! He then proceeds to tell us that he did not bring a keypad and that he would have to order one that would be mailed to our house. We live on a new street which address is not recognized by FedEx so we told him he needed sent to himself. He refused. He assured us that we would get it. So, Friday 3:00 pm rolls around and no part shows up so we call to find out what is going on. Mind you, I have already scheduled Monday off work at this point. They tell me that the part is back ordered and that they have no idea when they can ship it. Additionally, they have a wrong address for our house. We tell them the correct one and they tell us their computer does not recognize it. She cannot tell us when the part will be available. We tell her that this is unacceptable and that if they cannot replace the part, they need to replace the microwave. She says that is not her department and we have to call their customer department on Monday which is open from 8 to 5 pm Eastern time! We live on the West coast!!! That means they are only open until 2:00 my time and I have a job where I cannot make calls during the day. I can’t do it at lunch because the hold times are over an hour!!! I guess I have to get up at 5 or take the day off. When I tell people in the know about this, they just laugh and say, “whaddya expect!?!, its a GE!”. We have been about a month with a brand-new microwave that has never worked and GE is impossible to reach and has not even ordered the part!!! We are toying with the idea of just replacing the piece of junk with a product manufactured by a reputable company like Samsung or LG from a box store who will honor returns and take the home builder to small claims court. In any case DO NOT BUY GE PRODUCTS!!! You have been warned. They make cheap junk that never works right and play games so they dont have to honor their warranties. This is a New York Corporation run by people who do not care about customers, honor, or integrity. They make backdoor deals with shady homebuilders to peddle their junk exclusively and you will have to replace it in two years. Learn from our mistake in buying GE. They bring junky crap to life. Garbage Electric is what they should go by.

Dont buy one. I bought two last year. The first one completely died before the 60 days were up. I took it back to Sams club and bought another. The tag inside says it was made February 2011, so its only a year and a half old. Under the carousel, the paint is peeling big time. I wrote GE repeatedly, asking if it was still ok to use it. After ignoring me for quite some time, I got this reply. In the notice, they told me to get Sams club to replace the defective and apparently unusable product they are selling knowing it is defective. I love the part where you cant cook something with too much liquid in it. Who does that when they microwave?Heres what they said: Thank you for contacting GE regarding your microwaves and the paint peeling issue. I did some research on it and found that it a common issue among all brands. Excessive heating of un-covered liquids can create a high amount of condensation that the inside paint is not meant to withstand. Minor chips to the coating on the microwaves interior cavity will not affect the products performance. However, if the coating is actively flaking or peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable), discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. GE does not have an approved method of repair, and the microwave is not repairable. Please return to Sams club for an exchange, if you are still within the one year warranty. If Sams is refusing to accept the return, contact the Sams Club Support Team at 1-877-885-2787. GE will then reimburse Sams club.

At 4 pm when I was wondering if I would see a repairman I attempted to find on the internet a phone number that would connect me to a live person but had no luck. Purchased an entire line of GE appliances for kitchen after having prior (still working) appliances for 13 years. Have had at least 5 services calls and countless emails and phone calls for non functioning Dishwasher. Here is response from GE Manager: I have reviewed the pictures and no I would re-wash those 4 dishes if they came out of my dishwasher prior to using them with my family. Dried on fruit, starches and dairy are tough for any dishwasher to take off as the sugars in them act like glue. Again for these types of foods we would highly recommend more pre-washing to make sure that they are not left on the dishes after the dishwashing cycle. CAUTION: DO NOT BUY.

Bottom sprayer has melted and wont stay on, incoming water has it bouncing on the bottom of the machine. As the heat dry is in it smells like melting or burning plastic. Dishes are NEVER clean and need re-washing. GE will do nothing, warranty off. Repairman says its just the type it is. Microwave (over the stove model) is also supposed to be conventional oven, but does not do that well. Just use as microwave. As microwave, easy to use. Now 14 years old and still going strong, although a little dated in appearance. Grill cover looks like chrome, but made of plastic, and when I tried to remove it recently to change the filter, it broke and now has to be replaced. $180, but still cheaper than a new appliance. Wish we could get away from using plastic parts.

I called GE and they sent a technician and fixed it but it left scratches on the stainless steel. In addition, we have had problems with the turntable. Finally on March of 2013, the keypad went out. This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. I told them that I could buy another microwave from another company for less than that would probably cost. This microwave was made in Malaysia. I would not recommend any GE appliances that are not made in the US.

We have got through 2 handles. I took the 2nd one off to replace it and the plastic that holds the glass in place just disintegrated onto the floor along with much other plastic parts. Why is the door plastic in the first place if they cannot make it from a heatproof material? Only 4 years old and we are going to have to junk it. I left it in box until May 25, 2011 when we moved into an empty house. I took out my new microwave and used it from 5/25/11 until 12/4/11. I baked a 5- minute sweet potato. Later, I went to reheat coffee and no clock, no nothing. I tried the microwave at different plugs, no response. Then I tried the toaster in the microwaves plug. We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? Fyi - My Panasonic Microwave in our basement is working fine.... and has for years.

We purchased a GE Model JVM 3160DF3WW microwave oven in October 2016. The handle broke on this unit the first week after we bought it. It then worked fine for 10 months. In August 2017 it began throwing the circuit breaker erratically, then whenever it was turned on and has not worked for a full day since. It has been repaired by Appliance Solutions of Utah at least 6-7 times (by two different technicians) and still has not worked. At least $500 worth of new parts have been put into a $200 microwave by them. After numerous calls to GE, they have offered to send me a Goodwill Certificate for the amount of purchase after I buy another GE microwave. With our experience with this microwave (inoperable and unrepairable for 5 months) I dont intend to buy another GE microwave; especially considering the one available locally is the exact same model as the one we have, which was purchased, from Sears, for $191.42. Appliance Solutions of Utah has all the records of the NUMEROUS unsuccessful repair attempts made on the unit since August 2017. I requested a refund so that a different unit could be purchased. Over the course of the past 5 months I have talked to at least four different customer representatives, after multiple hours on hold. None could find any record of the previous discussions. GEs final suggested solution was to offer us a $100 Goodwill Certificate, the title in itself being ironic. So, after buying a microwave which was defective in the first place, spending $75 to have it installed, being without the use of the microwave for five months, and being told that, GE does not offer refunds, that is what the company feels they should do to rectify the situation. Setting aside an implied warranty of fitness, the fact that the repair agents sent out by GE could not repair the microwave after numerous attempts would seem sufficient grounds to fully refund the purchase price. That is the least a reputable company would be expected to have done. GEs position is that the store selling the microwave would be responsible for a refund; apparently ignoring the terms of the warranty. I this point, I am considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and a claim in small claims court for Breach of Warranty. Obviously, the microwave was never repaired per the terms of the warranty as it is still inoperable and has never worked since the initial report to GE. We will NEVER buy another GE product; Buyer beware!

Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. Fourteen months after buying my new built-in GE Profile Microwave/Convection, it stopped heating. I was told by GE that it was not under warranty. I paid close to $300 to an appliance service operation locally to fix my nearly $1,000.00 GE built-in (depending on the microwave to help feed four kids under the age of nine). So, about 13 months later I had another heating issue and I called the appliance service operation and they found another problem with the microwave. They said it was a faulty piece of equipment, replaced it and didnt charge me since they were local and said this shouldnt have happened (knew I was recently divorced and took pity on me). Almost 18 months after this, so three years after the purchase, the microwave started to act up again - it continues to work even after you open the microwave. Just dealt with it since it still worked. However, 6 months later, the microwave now doesnt heat. The power is on, and nothing happens inside. This started a week ago, but it was off and on. Now its dead. Never buying a GE anything. Ive got to buy a microwave and a refrigerator in the next six months. It is NOT going to be a GE!
