Nov 21, 2019 Warranty with lots of loopholes. I have bought a few Goodman furnaces in the last few years. I flip houses for a living and have rentals. I used to think they were a good value. Just had some warranty issues with 2 units.! Four years old bad induced draft motor. And plugged heat exchanger. The second one 5 years old bad blower motor. I called Goodman about both units and they would not honor either warranty. If you do buy one make sure it is registered and the date it was made not just installed. And when I took another look at the warranty it is not covered if bought on the internet. I currently am talking to a few attorneys about their warranty practice and what can be done. When this unit Goodman heat pump model GPH144841AC was about one year old it developed a major leak causing all the refrigerant to escape. It cost $500 to have someone repair the faulty factory solder joint and recharge it. Since I installed the unit myself Goodman will not honor any warranty. It is a self contained unit that I did not even open up so there was no way I could have damaged the inside of the unit. About two years later the main power relay failed and I had to replace it. This past Spring, 2017, I found it low on refrigerant and I added about 3 pounds and it worked correctly up until a few days ago even cycling off during some 28 degree weather (so it had refrigerant then). Yesterday I noticed it was running on emergency heat and checked it this morning. Not a pound of pressure. Apparently the small leak became a big leak. Again since it is a self contained unit it must be a factory fault. I'm hoping it is something that can be easily fixed, but I'm going to start saving for a replacement and it sure will not be a Goodman unit. They are junk.Steven of Laceys Spring, AL

Our original heat pump stopped working after 20 years so we decided to go with this brand. Huge mistake. The motor has gone out twice including last night at midnight. The therm has gone out 3 times. I was told by the installer to register my Goodman 5 ton heat pump for an extended 10 yr warranty on the compressor. The unit was registered- and the compressor failed after 6 years. Guess what--- my particular unit is not covered past 5 years. What a coincidence! NEVER BUY A GOODMAN HEAT PUMP. Apparently these are junk. I purchased this AC/Furnace and had a problem with it not cooling and the Outside exchanger coming on and off all within the warranty period. The contractor who installed it, fixed it by putting more 410 refrigerant in it. When I asked about the on and off issue I was told that it was a "cycling" thing going on, was lead to believe that was a normal operation. Recently I had the same problem and another tech from the same company came out and told me it has a leak and he put 5lbs of 410 refrigerant in to fix the problem. He stated the problem was due to low pressure, that is why the unit did not cool and the reason why it turned on and off. Now I am 4 months over the 5 year warranty period, so I am told by the contractor and Rheem will not replace that portion as that is where the leak is without me paying for the cost of the part plus labor. The Rheem products are crap. I spent good money and had a contractor hoodwink me into thinking there was no problems with the unit when in actuality the problem was occurring during the warranty period. This unit should have easily lasted much longer than it did, but unless you're an ac tech you're not in the know. If you are looking to replace your furnace/AC unit look at another company. Rheem is one big rip off. By the way I'm a Veteran. All Veterans beware. This company is like the VA.Timothy of El Paso, TX

I purchased this furnace around six years ago. It is efficient, simple, works well but it is a bit expensive as compared to other brands. However, I cannot complain much about the price because compared to the performance of the unit, the price is reasonable and I see now that I got value for my money. The furnace runs quietly with little or no noise at all and I have not done any repairs or replacements. I can say that I am happy with this unit. The only thing I would like to stress to other users is that they should have a qualified Technician install their furnace or else they will have problems. We replaced our Amana heat pump, which was undersized, with a Trane. While the Trane works, it is so noisy. It keeps me up at night. It wakes me up at night. I can't hear my tv when it's running. It sounds like a D9 Cat working hard. Trane sends out a rep who says it's within company standards. I'm at my wits end with this Trane heat pump. What can I do.
