Installed a Carrier HVAC in 2016 remodel. A year later the outside coil was leaking. Carrier agreed to replace the defective part, but not the labor costs. $1,000! This week A/C doesn't work and we find out a different coil is leaking. Another defective part that Carrier agrees to replace under warranty but not labor costs. In for another $500! This is absolutely unacceptable. My story is not different from many I've read here. How do we go about initializing a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!

Replaced our furnace and central air units in 2012. We purchased Trane from our HVAC provider...we had heard good things about them and had no concerns. First year, the unit worked fine. However, we had to have three service calls in 2014 because of cooling issues. We live in Wisconsin so we do not use the unit too often but three calls in the first year and half was nuts, not to mention the service charges we paid. About a month ago, we joked that we should turn the unit on just to make sure it worked and sure enough, we turned it on and 5 hours later, our house was two degrees warmer.Another call to the company we use who came out the next day and after checking the unit, told my husband that the coil needed to be replaced, and that while the part was under warranty, the labor would cost 1800 and take a couple weeks to get the part...the unit has been discontinued. Our other option was a new unit for 2100.00 (Trane would give us 300.00 off the new unit - big deal) We opted for the new unit, who would fix the old for that amount of money with no guarantee something else would go wrong. Now, every time I go in the basement and look at my new Trane furnace, I wonder what the future holds for us.....hoping we don't have to replace that as well. Very disappointed and will never recommend them and/or buy another Trane product. Personally, I think the unit was defective from the start and feel we have been taken advantage of.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesn't even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. I'm told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didn't tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodman's failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

I think I am going to scream. First my washer dryer and dishwasher all from whirlpool went belly up. Now my rheem water heater is burning. Why are these companies destroying their names. Trying to build cheap but sell high. Anyway I just notice my water heater by Rheem had burn marks and a little smoke, and water leak. I am just fed up. I am out of cash. Fixing appliances over and over because the manufacturer did not do its job! I have no idea what to do. I spent $4300 on a brand new Rheem HVAC because the coils were corroded. Jesus!

We purchased a Trane HVAC system in 2006 for our new home. The home was not occupied until mid 2007 so the unit was not in use until then. The air conditioner is XL14i and the gas heater is unit XV90. Since then we have spent well over $2000 in labor costs to keep the unit running. The control board was replaced twice, once in June 2012 and again in March 2013. We came to learn this was due to a design flaw. We have had switches and contacts replaced several times, and are now in the process of having to have the coils replaced. Each time we have had to pay labor costs. We went to Trane and asked for reimbursement of labor for the control boards since it was an obvious design flaw. The same is true of the coils now being replaced. We were flatly turned down the first time, and I am sure we will be turned down again. I have no problem paying labor costs for a part that wears out, but when the problem is design the company should be liable. Take my advice. NEVER buy a Trane. It is a piece of garbage. We have spent several days last summer and this summer with no AC, and this past winter when the heat didn't work because of the control board issue. Fifty eight degrees is not a comfortable temperature in your house. I am angry and disgusted that a company that advertises "you can't stop a Trane" is so poor at standing behind their product.

Trane condensing unit. The copper pipe on the condensing unit, due to vibration, worn out and caused the refrigerant to leak. There wasn't any protective material around the copper pipe to prevent this problem. Woodson and Bozeman, Inc. Memphis, TN Trane dealer didn't honor the warranty. They didn't stand behind Trane product. I will not buy any Trane product.

I have 6 Trane units at my restaurant, 2.5 years old, I have had to replace condenser coil in one unit, no a compressor in another unit. Of course with commercial they only give a one year warranty, the units constantly back up with water. I thought I was buying the best, I have had 2 for their online thermostats go out at 500 a pop. Leaking freon, argggg, nightmare, I called the manufacturer's rep about the parts going out on the systems and left with, "Too bad so sad".

I purchased this unit from a local contractor and have had 3 problems with it since installation. I had installer fix the first issue which he told me they would not charge me for. Unit was installed horizontally in attic and installers didn't know that when unit is installed this way condensation builds up in tube which won't allow heat to start up.Their employees are totally incompetent since they never glued PVC vent and exhaust piping through roof. Primed but never glued. Stick a piece of pipe in and that's done. Crooked coming out the roof, which I had to have repaired with the unglued pieces of pipe. I'm afraid to check and see if they at least glued the pipe that holds condensation as that will eventually leak in time if that was also improperly installed. Now I had to have flame sensor replaced and unit is only 3 years old. Goodbye to Mensers Heating and Cooling and Goodman products.

I have a TRANE HVAC heat pump system, that is still in warranty, equipped with a Digital Thermostat. The digital thermostat is the piece of equipment that I am having an issue with. When I contacted TRANE's technical service department, a technician led me through several troubleshooting procedures. The technical support person, Brandon, then advised me that the thermostat was defective and needed to be replaced. I asked him for the part number so that I could relay that information to my Trane servicing dealer. Brandon advised me that my thermostat was no longer being manufactured and there wasn't a compatible replacement. I asked him what I was supposed to do, and he intimated that I may end up having to replace my entire HVAC system because there isn't a replacement thermostat. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I have placed several calls to 2 servicing Trane dealers in my area and the thermostat is indeed unavailable. I told the Trane Technical support person, that is like going out to start you car and discover the battery is dead, and a mechanic telling you that you that the battery can't be replaced and you'll have to buy a new car. This borders on consumer fraud. I have a call in to the consumer affairs department, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for a response.

I purchased two Brand new Trane 15 Seer Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Units, from a reputable HVAC Company, whom also installed the units. I was told Trane was the top of the line and worth paying more to have the best, peace of mind, 10 year warranty, etc. It's been less than two years and one of my units needs a new evaporator coil. The part is under warranty, but the labor is going to cost me $800!! The AC Guy told me that they don't make Trane Units like they used to. The parts aren't made by trane, they're either made in China or Mexico and Trane doesn't stand behind them. The AC Guy also told me that there are so many bad Coil's that they're on back order. I'm very disappointed in Trane products and don't recommend spending the extra money.
