Product Reviews:

We replaced a failing heat pump with what we thought was 'the Gold Standard' - a Trane system with a 10 YEAR warranty. The system performed admirably for 4 summers, but when hot weather came to Virginia this year, the system stopped cooling b/c of what the installer indicated was a poorly located copper tube that had split and allowed the refrigerant to escape. We assumed it was an installation error that would be covered by the warranty, but in fact, the technician said the units are made that way. Four weeks later and over $1,500 of labor and 'service' charges [$800 of which is 2 occasions of lost refrigerant] we are still waiting for parts because we balked at paying an additional $300 for expedited shipping. It may be 'Hard to STOP a TRANE', but from our experience, it's even HARDER to START a TRANE!

The old Carrier unit (installed in the mid 80s) finally died three years ago. Since I retired from Trane after 25+ years I wanted a Trane heat pump. Every winter since it was installed we have had Dirty Sock Syndrome. It makes the entire house smell just like dirty socks. Never had this issue with the Carrier unit all those years. The Trane dealer cleans the unit and the smell goes away till the next winter. However, my dealer is now saying if this next cleaning doesn't work we should look into purchasing and installing ultra violet lighting to kill the bacteria. Why doesn't Trane assume responsibility for the problem?

June 2003: We had a weather maker 9300TS furnace/air conditioning unit installed in our home. The previous furnace had been in the home for nearly 30 years and still running strong.Since we had this product installed, we have had to have it serviced every year. They have replaced the circuit board, switches, coils, re-worked the lines and yet again, with the temperature at 25 degrees, it has gone out again. At the time we thought we were getting a quality product, but now we realize that this product is not worth the contract we signed when we purchased it. Very disappointing to pay that kind of money for a product that does not work. The installers have came out each time and performed a quick fix instead of addressing the obvious issue, which is apparently a faulty product. I would never recommend a carrier product to another. As far as the duct work being under-sized, which I have heard some refer to when this product was installed we had duct work installed, also, it's the product itself. Very disappointed, never again.

I purchased a new heat pump/ propane unit, to save on the anticipated high energy cost. Since, my bills have increased by nearly 40%! I used the National Weather Service Tables to try to make a fair check. SURE ENOUGH, this energy scam using the (more efficient units) is a scam.

We have 2 Carrier AC units in our home. Installed brand new on new home in 2016 and there have been over $3,000 in labor and shipping costs to repair the units. They even charged us shipping for a replacement part that was dead on arrival and we had to pay shipping costs and labor costs again for the repairman to come out again with another part. That was a little over a month ago and now the same part needs replacing again!!! Never buy this brand ever again. They’re selling junk and then charge you shipping to replace parts under warranty but you’re stuck paying the labor. They must know they are selling defective parts and systems. Why would we have needed to replace the air handler parts 3 times in 3 years?

So far, we are very pleased with our new furnace, air conditioner and air cleaning system. The installation process went very smoothly and we are impressed with the overall system's operations. We are especially pleased with how quiet it is and have already noticed that our home is less dusty. The air cleaner also did a great job of keeping the smoke our of our home during the nearby fires in the northwest of the United States.

Really like my new Amana High-Efficiency Modulating Variable Speed Gas Furnace (97% efficient). With fan in "on" position, it quietly circulates the air from the basement and throughout the house. I noticed the air conditioner does not kick in as often and the temperature is more consistent. No comparison to the old mid-efficiency furnace that was replaced, Amana is much better made and will reduce our Natural Gas costs.

Replaced our 30-yr-old furnace with a new Trane furnace XT95 in Canada. This was installed on Feb. 20, 2013. The heating is poor. We have a finished basement and it never gets above 58 degrees F. When I sit on my couch just above the furnace, it feels like I`m riding on a train. Have had numerous service calls but they don`t know what`s the matter. They've changed motors, adjusted parts and used their diagnostics tools and this is the installers. Now have to wait for the big experts from Trane. I was told by the company that sold and installed the furnace that they were coming about 2 weeks before. I even contacted Trane company myself. Still waiting .

I purchased my unit in 2007 and thru the company I bought it from, have a 15 yr parts and labor warranty. I have the Infinity thermostat and 3 ton unit heat pump and Infinity air handler. Ran okay for the first year or so but fast forward to today... Here's a rundown of the repairs on this unit. I've had 7+ system malfunctions, many of them with multiple codes. The primary code is always 45. I've had the air handler circuit board replaced 3 times - 3/2009 12/,2011, 9/2014 and a 4th one effective today due to the total shut down (8/2015) of entire system. I've had the heat pump circuit board replaced also 9/2014, coils replaced 2/2014, and new wiring harness 10/2014. I've been told that Carrier will eventually stop warranting the circuit boards. As everyone else, someone needs to be home when this service is done so taking time from work to be home for every repair can be very tough and expensive for someone whose company doesn't allow them or can't have them work from home. I'm fortunate but in the long run Carrier should be doing something to recognize the problems their system has and make it right. My service company is great but eventually this will start to get very costly. I'm done with Carrier and will be contacting the company I purchased it from regarding the lemon law. This just can't go on...

My last furnace died down in last year’s winter and I wanted something better. I did a quick internet search and was impressed by the reviews on Ducane Gas Furnaces. I immediately purchased the furnace and had it installed. So far, I’m so impressed with this furnace. It heats quickly, runs well, and has saved me quite some amount of energy bill in comparison to my old one. If I were to make another purchase, I would still go for Ducane.
