The interior paint on the microwave is peeling causing there to be sparks in the interior of the microwave. The microwave interior paint is defective and should not have peeled. The microwave interior has metal showing which causes sparks.

GE brags about employing its own service technicians yet, when I called to schedule an appointment to fix our Advantium 120 microwave (3 years old), they told me that unless I provided proof of purchase to the technician, he would charge me even for parts under warranty such as the magnetron tube. This in spite of the fact that they have all the purchase information at their fingertips, as I reported when we registered our purchase. They even told me our date of purchase, had our address, email address, etc. They dismissed my suggestion that an email from them to me that I could show the technician should suffice. After 3 years and severe family health issues, I have sadly misplaced the proof of purchase, not realizing that registering the appliance for warranty provided no real benefit; not even proof that I didn't steal the thing. I am saddened that a company of the former stature of GE would stoop so low to avoid a legitimate warranty repair.

We purchased in 2008 all of our kitchen in KitchenAid appliances. The biggest problem is with our microwave. We have replaced the grill cover twice. We replaced this product last in May of 2013. We also put in a new control panel because the panel would not work. That’s when I replaced the cover. Today is June 14, and they put my new panel in. When the technician handed me the grill cover, one of the clips had broken again. I called customer service, and they told me they could not help me because the warranty had expired. I told her this was the second grill I had purchased. They are $113 plus change, and I will have to buy another one.I told her I would like to talk to the President to tell how much trouble this product is, and that they need to fix it. I know $100 dollars to some people is nothing, but to me it’s a lot, especially if you purchase this all the time. My wife wanted KitchenAid because they were supposed to be the best. I don't have that feeling about their product. But you are right, customer service sucks! All I can say is that they better get their act together. It looks like they have no fan base.

Our GE Cafe Appliance package is less than 1year old and the convection/microwave door handle is wrinkling and peeling. I realize that weight may be a concern hence the plastic vs. metal handle due to the side hinge of micro but aluminum or other light metal would have made more sense. A service tech is coming out next week to replace the in warranty handle however this cost will be our responsible next year when this happens again. A light metal retrofit/recall seems to be the logical solution to remain customer centric and maintain GE loyalty. How this material choice error is handled by GE to ensure this problem does not repeat during the life of this appliance defines brand loyalty. Thank you for your consideration.

I've had my microwave for 12 years. I've never had any problems with the microwave since its purchase and very pleased. I don't plan on replacing until the microwave would stop operating or not pleasing in the kitchen.

We have had the same problem with the magnetron in our Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combination. Replaced this part in Dec. 2012 after warranty expired. Cost of repair was nearly cost of microwave. Magnetron went out a second time this week. When I called Whirlpool customer service, the management rep was very hard line about the warranty on the unit and parts. Very clear this company has a product reliability issue and does not want to keep its customers. I don't plan to purchase another Whirlpool product ever. What a frustrating disappointment!

Kitchen Aid stainless steel build in microwave model KBMS1454. I do like the door that opens down rather than swing out. Has a cool down fan that seems to run a long time, although I have never had a microwave with a cool down fan before. Cooks food evenly and quickly.

Microwave model WMH73521CS-2: Microwave is approx 2.5 yrs old. This is the 2nd time we have had problems with door open and close msg appearing on display. We had to have door latches replaced once and again are having to have it serviced again. $100 for service to come out again, does not include cost of replacement parts. This seems to be a consistent problem with this model. We are not replacing the parts and are buying a different microwave. Definitely not Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and was on hold for almost an hour and received no resolution to problem.

Okay, on March 2009, we bought this brand new microwave due to our major remodeling. We didn't move into the unit until February 2010, so the microwave was in its box for 11 months. After we moved in our condo, my husband and I had to travel for work for almost a year so our brand new microwave is very slightly, gently and barely used. Well, for the past 2 months, it had been acting up. Sometimes it heats, sometime it doesn't. For a 2 year old microwave, which we paid over $400, I would assume that it would last. It no longer heats up, so I called Maytag customer service to hear her tell me it's not covered under the warranty and would cost $269 for repairs and there was nothing she can do for me unless I pay for a technician to come and repair it! No way, I swear it probably got used 5-10 times a month to heat up coffee for about a year. I am sure there are some major quality issues on this model because when I googled Maytag microwave, all I see is the same magnetic problems. I spoke to a group of my lawyers friends. If you're interested in joining a class act law suit, please e-mail me. I hate that people are being taken advantage of by these terrible companies. I can't believe how low quality their customer service and products are. Believe it or not, my $30, old microwave lasted me 14 years throughout my college years until we decided to replace it with the modern stainless steel one. It got noisier in time but not broken and still heats up just fine. This $400+ one lasted me only for several uses. Shame on Maytag, when I have time, I will be sure to write a complaint to the consumer department as well. I will dedicate my life in spreading the word out about their low quality product. Don’t buy Maytag unless you only plan to use it for a year or 2.
