Product Reviews:

I purchased the machine about 6 years ago. For the last few years, rust has accumulated around the outside of the bleach dispenser (i.e., the area where you pour the bleach in to be dispensed later during the wash cycle). It is getting worse and covers a larger area as time goes on. According to the LG customer service, the cause is spilled bleach around the dispenser area and furthermore, they say, this is merely cosmetic and does not affect the function of the washing machine. I disagree.First, as noted, the area is growing. Second, there are stains on clothing after washing that are hard to explain any way other than something to do with the rust on the body of the machine. Finally, I do not believe it has anything to do with spilled bleach because there is a spout in the back of the machine that delivers rinse water and that spout is also rusting. It would be necessary for me to purposefully pour bleach over this spout, or wipe it on, in order to for bleach to cause the rust in that location. Like some other reviewers, I have had a few problems with a UE error message, but it usually works out. This could be because I do wash rather small loads and I tend to use the "bulky bedding" setting, even for small loads, to get enough water to thoroughly wash and rinse the clothes.Overall I am very disappointed with the LG and would prefer an agitator type machine in order to not use so much water for small loads. That's what I will be looking for to replace this one - since spending even $300 for a technician to come and look at it seems excessive. I should add that three years ago I purchased another LG machine for a different location; at that time there was no rust on my home washer. The newer machine has been used rarely because it is in a vacation house. Nonetheless, after approximately 100 uses, the circuit board quit and the machine is dead. Naturally it is out of warranty, so getting rid of it seems the only sensible solution.

Bosch washing machine. Plenty of washing programmes. Good value for money. Quick wash is excellent. I have had the machine over ten years and would buy the same make again. Energy efficiency, brand reputation and price. Dryer would be a different purchase. I would look around and see the best one on the market so do not dry as well as others. A product that does not start to rust within the first twelve months, and no paint chipping and find out cost of spares. Some makes are expensive to repair. Very pleased with Bosch washing machine. I always get a clean wash. The one thing that does annoy me is the powder tray. This gets so black and over the years I have found weak bleach solution will clean the tray (when removed), but even this fails to stop the holes above the dispenser, becoming blocked with the black slime (caused by washing powder and plastic). I have had the unit replaced twice. I would like all manufacturers to try and resolve this problem. Rather expensive over ten years, but so far no other problems.

We bought our Legacy Washer and Dryer from Home Depot in December, 2005. Luckily we also bought the one year warranty, because in January 2006, our washer quit running. We called Home Depot, we got the runaround and I think Maytag sent someone out. When he tipped the washing machine over, a belt was off. He said "it happens." The next year, something else went wrong with the washing machine (not under warranty anymore) and I paid $129 for that visit. Three weeks ago, the spin dry quit doing a good job on the extended spin cycle. Tonight, I put a load of clothes in and though the washer sounded like it was agitating the clothes, when I lifted the top I saw it was just noise, no agitating. I cannot afford the service call, let alone the whole repair or a new washer.

Purchased this washer 7 months ago. We are a family of 5 with A LOT OF LAUNDRY!!! I adequately researched a machine that could do large loads of laundry, WELL. I read at least 100 reviews and went forth. (Note to self that anyone giving this machine a decent rating, is a DIRTY, SMELLY, FILTHY LINEN WEARING FOOL who doesn't take much pride in their clothing cleanliness.) I proceeded onward and after paying A LOT OF MONEY for this 4.8 Whirlpool Cabrio Washer, I found out within the first two days of owning it, that IT IS GARBAGE! Regardless of the 4.8 drum size, you can only fill it less than 1/4 of the way with clothes, to even hope they will be touched by water. My clothes come out DETERGENT STAINED & DRY! Insanity... A washer that doesn't wet the clothes!!! We have had 4 repairmen come out within this time, because I am fed up! I have been physically shown and told now, by all 4 guys, that the washer will not fill more than 9 inches with water. They advised me to fill Home Depot buckets and throw them into the drum. THIS IS WHAT I DO, TO SATISFY THAT I AM WETTING MY LAUNDRY - PURE CRAZINESS! The repairmen told me to set all loads to "bulky sheets" + extra rinse + highest soil. This is a 1 hour, 26 minute initial setting. Note that my adding water messes up the computer readings and it will reset throughout the washing cycle multiple times. Even with all of this... the machine still doesn't wet the clothes!! The top and center of the load is BONE DRY! This machine will not wash sheets, blankets or comforters, either. Don't waste your time trying!!! Don't be fooled by the drum size. Your great grandmother's 1930s 1.6 cu ft washer washed more clothes in any given load. #1 My water bill is through the roof. #2 The washer constantly resets and runs on any single load for over 2.5 hours AND #3 MY LAUNDRY PILES HIGHER AND HIGHER, as you cannot put more than a smattering of clothes in the machine, at any given time! GARBAGE, GARBAGE and MORE GARBAGE!!! I would be better served to find a stream and a flat rock and start doing my laundry "colonial day style"! I am done... Finally had enough of this insanity! RETURNED THE MACHINE THIS MORNING!!!

I just purchased LG Washing Machine (412 SS /12 KG). This washer has so many deficiency and crazy programs as it was designed by a kid. Its drum is NOT adjusted and leveled with rounded rubber in front of it. You will never see drum is hanging down. When started it doesn't release water, but it releases water in burst so many time and it waste so much time. Drum keeps turning without water or just barely wet for about 5-6 minutes, depend on its useless programs. Half of its programs are dedicated to Steam-Wash. So if you don't use Steam, half of its programs are completely useless, while they could have add just one steam-key as an option to all programs.WORST OF ALL: it doesn't release enough water to clean the clothes. In fact there is no standing water in washer. They are just barely wet and there is NO option to add water in any program. So as a result I have to wash my clothes twice every time. Completely waste of time. Inside washer is so dark, and you can't see inside to know what's going on. Each program is unnecessarily too long. It just sits idle and does nothing or it spins in one second burst-like and stops or it turns in weird manner not seen in other washers. It sometimes turns too fast, and clothes are just attached to inside drum's wall and they don't go through churning motion. It doesn't spin after each rinse to extract detergent. As a result if you don't wash them twice, clothes will come out with powdery stuff on them after dried up.There are no options to had rinse or fast spin to any program. Inside drum surface is NOT smooth, and has rough edges to touch on each and every holes as if they are done from outside to inside rather than inside out to make smooth inside surface. These many rough surfaces will absolutely wear and damage clothes. In addition there is another double horizontal line with rough edges across inside drum, and no one knows what it is for. This is very NOISY Washing machine. So-called OPTIONS on these washer are just that. If you want to change temperature, for example, then other options also change on its own without giving you choices or options are limited when programs are changed. Brief summary of this awful washer is: it doesn't put out enough water to clean the clothes - just make them wet, each program is too long, no option to add rinse or spin. I could add several other deficiencies, but enough said. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio in 2009. It worked so-so over the years but recently stopped completing cycles, citing false load balance errors and leaving towels and sheets sopping wet at the end of a cycle. Three repair appointments later, and still no success. I am thoroughly disgusted that such an expensive machine only lasts four years. Based on the service tech's attitude toward the machine and other consumer comments, I'm guessing I will have to replace it. You can guess it will not be with a Whirlpool machine!

In October 2009, we purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio topload washing machine for almost $900, because my wife's sister had a 1-year-old one and had been pleased. The Cabrio replaced a 3 1/2-year-old Maytag that died with a seized-up transmission. Maytag is also a Whirlpool product for those of you who do not know. We had issues at first with it going "off balance" but dealt with it. It was also taking 40+ minutes to do even a small load of laundry, but again, we dealt with it. Fast forward about 3 years, and we notice the machine is making really loud sounds during the spin cycle. I checked for any obvious issues but found none. The noise kept getting louder with each use. Finally, I called a repairman to check it out. His diagnosis was quick. The bearings were going bad in the machine, and he said it would eventually fail. He quoted me a price of between $400-$500 to repair because the job is very labor-intensive. I declined the repair but still had to pay him a trip charge. Then I checked with my wife's sister about hers, and she said hers had been making a very loud sound for several months but they were just ignoring it. I told her about the diagnosis of mine and advised her to tilt the machine back to look under it. Sure enough, there were oil stains under her machine, just like mine, indicating the bearings were failing. So we have 2 Cabrio machines, one 3 years old and the other 4 years old with the exact same problem. I called Whirlpool since I had registered the machine when I purchased it. They basically told me to go fly a kite since I had not purchased the extended warranty. They said I could attempt to repair it myself to save money, but they advised to have their repairman do the work. Well, no kidding. What a joke. They expect you to buy a $900 machine and have to replace it every 3 years. I am done with Whirlpool products. FYI, Kenmore products are also made by Whirlpool, so Sears is not an option. My wife's sister and we bought new GE washing machines, and both of us purchased the extended warranty this time. For $129 (5 years), it's cheap, peace of mind. Whirlpool is crap. I would suggest never buying any of their products. I know we never will. Once they have your money, they don't care.

Front load washer Whirlpool Model# WFW9400SW02, only had this machine for about five years and the main interface control board has gone bad. This part cost 1/2 as much as buying a new machine. My parents had the same washing machine for almost 30 years and no problems. What's wrong with this picture?

I have a Maytag Bravos XL and have white residue on all the clothes that get washed in this machine since I purchased it. I have always used HE Detergent and have followed all Maytag's recommendations to reduce the white residue to no avail. I had to wash my clothes 5 times to get the residue off of my clothing and 4 of those were without any detergent and on all temperatures and wash cycles. Model # MVWB835DW.

We bought a Kenmore Elite top loading machine less than 5 years ago. The lid started rusting soon after we bought it. It has progressively gotten worse. The whole lid is rusted now. It looks horrible. I take care of all my appliances. I had a previous washer for almost 40 years. I should've kept it. It had NO rust anywhere. Kenmore and Sears has cheap, crappy appliances. They are not what they used to be. Think "K-Mart" quality. DO NOT buy appliances from Sears anymore. If you don't pay through the ** for an extended warranty, you are out of luck. The reason they sell them is because they KNOW their stuff is crap and will not stand behind it. Go to an appliance store where they will stand behind their products. RUN from Sears and Kenmore. There's a reason they are going out of business.
