Rheem Heat Pump Model WP14AZ

WP14AZ Endeavor Line Select Series

The Rheem WP14AZ Endeavor Line Select Series Heat Pump is a residential HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system designed to provide both heating and cooling for your home. The "Select Series" indicates that it is a mid-tier model in Rheem's product lineup, offering a balance of performance and efficiency. Here are some key features and information about the Rheem WP14AZ Endeavor Line Select Series Heat Pump:

1. Heat Pump Functionality:

The heat pump is capable of providing both heating and cooling by transferring heat between the indoors and outdoors.

In the heating mode, it extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it inside to warm your home.

In the cooling mode, it removes heat from indoor air and releases it outside to cool your home.

2. Efficiency and Performance:

The Rheem WP14AZ Select Series Heat Pump is designed to provide efficient performance and energy savings.

It likely comes with a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating, which indicates its cooling efficiency, and an HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) rating, which indicates its heating efficiency.

Higher SEER and HSPF ratings generally indicate higher efficiency and potential energy savings.

3. Quiet Operation:

Rheem emphasizes quiet operation in their products, so the WP14AZ may come equipped with features to minimize noise during operation.

4. Durability and Construction:

The Endeavor Line Select Series is likely built with durability in mind, using quality components and materials.

5. Refrigerant Type:

The heat pump may use R-410A refrigerant, which is more environmentally friendly than older refrigerants.

6. Warranty:

Rheem typically offers warranties for their products. The warranty coverage can vary, so it's important to check the specific warranty terms for the WP14AZ model you're considering.

7. Professional Installation:

Proper installation is crucial for the efficient and effective operation of the heat pump. It's recommended to have the heat pump installed by a licensed HVAC professional.

Before purchasing the Rheem WP14AZ Endeavor Line Select Series Heat Pump, it's a good idea to consult with an HVAC professional to ensure that it's the right choice for your home's heating and cooling needs. They can assess your home's size, layout, insulation, and other factors to recommend the appropriate size and model for optimal performance and energy efficiency.

C: Open Circuit or Sensor Fault (OSF) - Indicates an open circuit or sensor fault. This could be related to various sensors within the heat pump.

Other Codes: There may be other codes specific to your model, and their meanings will be outlined in the user manual.

Always refer to your specific model's documentation for accurate information about error codes and their meanings. If you encounter an error code on your Rheem heat pump, it's advisable to consult the user manual first. The manual typically includes a troubleshooting guide that may provide steps to address common issues associated with specific error codes. Purchased a Rheem Water Heater from Home Depot in April 2015. Gas Valve failed November 2016 and was replaced under warranty. Gas Valve failed again January 2019 -- Rheem sent a replacement, but I never installed it because the existing Gas Valve appeared to be OK after re-lighting pilot. In May 2019, no hot water... went into garage to investigate and found water around base of heater. Pulled off front cover and noted that bottom of insulation was saturated with water -- tank is leaking. Tank failed in 4 years! 9 year tank warranty. Called Rheem for return authorization and returned heater to Home Depot (got about 85% credit -- prorated). I was given store credit only, so I had to buy the same piece of crap Rheem water heater since thats all Home Depot sells. Well have to see how long this one lasts.

Our water heater was professionally installed in May 2011. Last month the unit started leaking. I pulled out the paperwork and went online to verify the warranty. According to their warranty verification site, the warranty was valid through 6/11/2024. I called the Rheem customer service line (800-432-8373) and spoke to someone that confirmed that the warranty was valid. He said I needed to have a plumber look at the unit first and he gave me the name of a plumber that I could use. I paid $140 for him to come out and he confirmed that the unit was properly installed and the heat exchanger was leaking. I called Rheem back on 6/26/15 and the customer service agent (Scott, who was very nice) asked some basic questions including Were you the homeowner at the time the unit was installed? I bought the house one year ago. He then told me that because I was not the owner of the home when it was installed, the warranty was not valid.I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me was the one in charge. I asked to speak to his manager and he took my information and told me he would have him call me but no one ever did. I sent an email to Rheems customer service center and again got no response. As a result, I have had to pay $1,975 to buy a new tankless water heater and have it installed. To make matters worse, I was forced to buy another Rheem as any other brand would have required additional costs to retrofit the piping to fit that product (according to the plumber that Rheem referred). I feel that the product failed after 4 years and this should have nothing to do with the fact that I bought the house 3 years after it was installed. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the new unit under the original warranty. I am also disappointed that Rheem did not respond to my request to speak to a manager or my email to their customer service center.

Nothing but nothing is what I got... If you have a choice buy an expensive water heater. Leave this line out of the equation. The company WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY.

3-year-old 5-ton HVAC system in new home. Core had to be replaced in just 2 years. A/C is out again in only a few months. Poorly constructed cores and Rheem is VERY aware of this problem. The replacement core that Rheem uses DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. You have been warned.

I bought a Rheem water heater, Model ELD80B, 14 months ago and was told it had a 4-year warranty. The heating element leaked and failed. I was told it would take 2 to 3 days to get a part. We are in the restaurant business and would have to close. I found the part at an appliance part house for $44 and hired a company to pick it up and bring to my store for $112, then called the company that sold and installed the heater (United Plumbing - Woodland Hills, CA) and they sent out a tech and it took about 30 minutes and I was charged an additional $475. I called Rheem and was told to read the fine print. They would only cover the whole unit if it had to be replaced and if it could be repaired like my unit did, it would not be covered.

Now Ive been told I have to wait another 2 days to see if this new overnighted part will work. 7 days no hot water and no help for Rheem.

We have experienced the most disappointing customer service from such a reputable company like Rheem. We purchased the water heater from Home Depot for our rental property. In less than 6 months from our purchase, it stopped working. We thought it would be a simple fix, like re-lighting the pilot light, but it wasn’t that simple. I proceeded to call Rheem customer service to find a technician who could help us with the issue. After several hours on the phone, on hold and with dropped calls, a customer service agent was able to help me determine the issue. A part needed to be replaced and Rheem would be shipping that over. Several issues with this solution: 1. Why couldn’t a local technician purchase the part locally and service us right away? 2. Why isn’t the part readily available at a big box store, like Home Depot, where it seems they only sell Rheem water heaters?3. With Rheem customer service / shipping dept estimating 4-6 business days, our tenant would be out of water for almost a week. Why couldn’t the shipping be expedited as a courtesy since the water heater repairs were still under warranty?Sure enough, the part took a long time to arrive to us and was even delayed. The part did not arrive at our rental property location for 9 full calendar days (7 business days). Because the part took so long to arrive, our tenant, who is a single mother with 4 young kids under age 12, was not able to have hot water. This is unacceptable for anyone living in the United States. We had to allow her to live in a hotel during this time. Therefore, we had to forego the rent she would have to pay us during these 9 days. Our family and friends have been long time customers of Rheem and have bought many products, including water heaters and air conditioners. We thought the reputation of Rheem’s products would be on par with your customer service, but that is far from the truth. We will be wary of purchasing additional Rheem products and will advise our friends and extended family to do the same. We would also like Rheem to do some further investigations, since it seems this part has ongoing issues, and possibly recall this water heater product or part. A water heater should not break down in less than 6 months. I have now seen numerous bad reviews regarding your water heaters and your customer service. For a large reputable company, this is not how you treat or retain customers.

I bought my Rheem water heater 2 years ago. Recently, the pilot light has been going out. As a single gal, who is not very handy, I thought I was making a great purchase given the product came with a 6 year warranty. Much to my dismay, I found out that the warranty is only a parts warranty! Now I have to wait a few days to receive the parts in the mail and figure out how to install them myself... And, once again, be without the ability to take a hot shower in the meantime! I had my previous water heater for nearly 20 years, without a problem and this one defaults after just 2!

WARNING - Be sure to register your Rheem Heat Pump. Without registration, you lose 5 years of your 10 year warranty. BETTER YET... DO NOT BUY RHEEM. If I could zero or negative star I would. My installer did not register my unit 7 years ago nor did I. I was not given a registration card to mail in. For the past 4 years, Ive had 5 techs here to work on my unit. Made a horrible loud banging noise that would wake us up at night. The blower motor was replaced. See-cell warped fan blade on condenser replaced. Thermostat replaced. Added 2 lb. of freon... All to no avail. Now the compressor is gone.I had AEP out when I got a $400.00 electric bill. They said air was not circulating evenly throughout- kept the unit running continuously. I had to close of 3 rooms to afford my electric bill. I mailed Rheem Corporation a copy of my dated bill, installation date, model #, serial # and copy of my 10 year warranty. Their reply was ... Sorry.. Theres no registration recorded, your warranty is gone. So Rheem Corporation is gone for me. My friend also purchased a Rheem heat pump and her unit is having the same problems. DO NOT BUY RHEEM.

Installed AC in September 2012. I am now in need of a fourth reversing value. Total cost less current charges $2000. Local representative has recommended replacement of outside unit at no cost. But I would need to purchase air handler in attic. When I questioned this he stated they only come as a package. Called Rheem warranty department. They confirmed they only came as a complete system and I would need to purchase the replacement air handler. I questioned that logic as since the original outdoor unit was being replaced due to a problem the attic unit should be replaced at no cost. The system has been down since the first week of July 2018. Have made several follow up calls to no avail. Stay away!

I just acquired a new hot water heater and wanted to learn more about preventative maintenance needed to prolong its useful life. One agent was helping me with ensuring warranty dates are accurate as their records show warranty start date as date of manufacture. Date of install is 5 months later.. They have a website for registration but that did not help update their warranty records. He told me to use their website again. I told him I already did that and nothing changed. Then, he said all I had to do reply to his email with copies of invoices and extended warranty info and all will be taken care of. A day later, nothing. So I called back and somebody else says she will look into it, update records and EMAILl me a screenshot to show it is done. No email received but warranty record was updated to correct start at date of install but did not include extended warranty date of additional 4 years. So now I have to call them back regarding this. Why is it so hard?In addition, I wanted to buy extra anode rods (secondary, connected to HOT WATER Side) so that I have them readily available 5 years or so from now. That seems to be a VERY complicated process. Always requires Serial number which is totally irrelevant. All manufacturers anode rods are universal. Difference is length of rod, length of nipple (for those that are installed in the HOT WATER side of the tank) and material composition. After half a dozen emails back and forth, still no info as to how I can get the anode rod needed. I even gave them part numbers and they told me to contact another department as the department I contacted do not handle customer service inquiries, just website related. HUH???Another customer service rep emailed me instruction on how to maintain as well as user manual. I thanked him for it, asked him more questions, and.... NO RESPONSE since then.. A couple of follow up emails and still no. WHY? Frankly, I worry about the service I will be getting from this company when something really wrong happens.. I may have made a mistake buying their stuff. Their A/C unit is outstanding. Water heater is another story as I had problems with inaccurate thermostat BUT, to their credit a new thermostat was immediately sent and that fixed my problem. I worry what else will go wrong and the runaround I will get. Caveat Emptor !!!

What a horrible company. Will never buy another Rheem water heater again. Our heater control valve went out on our water heater on Thanksgiving day. Eight days later I still have not received the part. I have now been up without hot water since Thanksgiving night. The honorable thing to do would have been to send the part via FedEx overnight instead they sent it FedEx ground and it will not arrive until Monday if at all! Sad! We purchased a new A/C unit on March 12, 2014 for a secondary home in Fla.
We purchased a new A/C unit on March 12, 2014 for a secondary home in Fla. This unit is not a rental. It is used by us a few months a year. We purchased the property a few years before and it still had the original a/c, so we decided to be safe and buy a new one. MISTAKE! We used a local A/C company in that area and purchased a RHEEM along with the semi annual maintenance contract. We recently made a trip to Fla and found that the a/c wasnt working and that it also froze up causing wet floors. We called our A/C company. The cost was 500.00 to come out on Monday 1/2 (a holiday). We were only there a few days and needed to get it fixed to prevent mold/mildew. They needed to put a dye in the system to see if there was a leak. Well there were multiple leaks. So for an addtl 586.00 for labor they would fix it. Their warranty is a joke! Rheem knows that their products are defective and they only last a short period. They should have to pay for the labor to fix their defective product. I wish we could bond together and go after them for a selling faulty products and hold them accountable for costs associated with their defects. This is the United States of America, we deserve more.

This is the 2 Rheem 360 gallon hot water heater model G65-360-1 that has leaked in less than 5 years. The 1st one lasted under 4 years but because Rheem only offers a 4 year warranty from date of manufacture not install we had to fork out $15,000 to have another heater installed Dec 2016. Going with the same model allowed for quick replacement which when your business is closed because of lack of hot water fast is best. Now 14 months later our heater that cost more than a small car is leaking. Rheem comment although they have agreed to replace the heater not sure yet if they are paying the $2000 install fee was that they very seldom have what they call a leaker. When I told them to look up the serial number of the one the new leaker replaced the agent claimed we are not having much luck with their heaters, we would send it back and put in a John Wood but Rheem wont give us a refund. Be aware they have problems. Avoid a Rheem or any of their other products. A Wood heater will last years without problems, ask your plumber before you buy not the experts at the Home Improvement stores. They are going to sell you what they make the most margin on. Not what is going to be the best.

Purchased and had professional installation on a Rheem 40 gallon water heater with a 9 year warranty on 1/30/2015. This morning 5/3/2017 just a few months over 2 years the unit failed and needs to be replaced. Now I am out $500.00 labor and must pay the difference between todays price and the price I originally paid for the water heater... Spoke with customer service and of course they wont pay since I am over the two year parts and labor portion of the 9 year warranty. What a ripoff! They know they are making junk and are smart enough to limit the warranty so they are not responsible for labor when their inferior products fail prematurely. Dont get Rheemed like I did and stay clear of these poor quality products.

Had to replace the MOTOR for the air handler unit 9/17/2012. Cost me almost $500. Motor for condenser just stopped working, replaced that motor 1/16/2015, cost me $490. I have the lowest pressure of all my neighbors and none of them have a thermal tank why should I, now, need one? Bought a new Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater and was installed in new home
Bought a new Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater and was installed in new home in August 2015. Worked for three months, then had issues with NO hot water. Getting error code. Contacted company and after several attempts and disconnects finally got someone. Was told that the venting was improper and to contact plumber to have them look at it and then send the bill for reimbursement. We did as we were told, changed venting per their specifications and still does not work correctly. Plumbing company contacted Rheem and they sent new blower assembly. This was replaced and did NOT fix the problem. Again contacted Rheem spent over 2 hours trying to get someone. Finally got someone in another department who transferred to supervisor. They have supposedly contacted Menards to reimburse us for the bad water heater, but now are refusing to reimburse us for the bill that was incurred by having a plumber come out. They are stating we did not provide the correct documentation showing a defect. Bill was sent that we received from plumbing company stating their fees.We cannot understand why no one is looking into this company regarding all these issues that this company is having with their bad product and NOT honoring their warranty. This company is causing frustrations on customers that should not be happening and not honoring anything in their warranty booklet. Nor are the phone numbers that they are listing on this warranty numbers that consumers are able to get through. When talking to the supervisor I brought this issue up and even asked him if he has ever tried calling the number listed. He said frankly no. I asked him to please do this as well as forward this on to individuals that are higher up so that they are aware of this issue. I would seriously hope that this company look into their issues with their products and take note of what consumers are dealing with.

6 years ago, I purchased a RHEEM water heater from Home Depot which lasted only 3 years with only two in the household. June 18, 2015, I purchased an American Standard from a private retailer after researching the best water heater to purchase which also lasted only 3 years. It was a terrible, stressful ordeal with both companies. Rheem and American Standard each sent parts for their 6 year warranty stretching two weeks until Im stressed to the point of purchasing a new one because none of the parts solved the problem. Apparently this is what these companies count on... the customer getting fed up to the point we choose to buy another water heater for $800 every 3 years in exchange for a hot shower!!! I am a single parent working part time for LAUSD on summer break with $766 to my name. There goes our summer savings... again. Time to try another company. Im convinced all are the same... they may last 3 years with if youre lucky. Its like pulling teeth to get them to honor the warranty, and you will not get a replacement without spending a ton of money for a licensed professional in the process, which is why Im buying another brand. The water heater I had when I moved here lasted approximately 12 years with no problems. Old school. They dont make them like they used to. See you all in 3 years.

I bought a Rheem water heater in May 2017 from Home Depot. 7 months later it failed right on Christmas Eve. I called Rheem and the warranty part was sent quickly, but since they could not find any contractor in my area to do the work, they said I can use anyone local. I filled out the warranty claim and sent all the required paperwork back on Jan 2nd, 2018. First they said itll take 6 - 8 weeks to process the claim. Its now 2 1/2 month (March 16th, 2018) and my claim was still not processed. The last time Ive called, I was told that they were back-up in the warranty claim department (wow... imagine how many units have failed that could create such a back-up), but since its more than 8 weeks, theyll expedite my claim. Guess what, expedite or not, my claim is still in limbo somewhere. Very disappointed with how Rheem handles customer claim. No wonder no contractor in my area wants to work with Rheem. People, please dont buy Rheem, not worth it when you have to be hold 45 minutes on the phone with them or call them every month to check on your warranty claim just to hear the same excuse.

Hold time to speak to customer service is 40 minutes. Ive been calling everyday 2 to 3 times a day to see if the parts were ordered and still have no answer. Its -6 degrees and Ive been without hot water for 5 full days. Not acceptable! I would never recommend Rheem products to anyone! I understand that the unit itself failed but customer service is ridiculous!

I bought a Rheem water heater 3 weeks ago. Installation went well. But then the pilot light went out the next morning. I restarted it right away. After 1-3 days it keeps going out. It never stays lit. I called Rheem - they told me that they would replace it or fix it. They told me to get a plumber to come out. The plumber called up Rheem and told them that everything was hooked up properly but it is not working correctly - that it needs to be replaced. They told them that there was a tiny leak in the water that they tighten and fixed instantly but it had nothing to do with the problem. Rheem told them that it is not covered now because there was a water leak. I cant even begin to tell you how small this leak was. It was nothing. Rheem was just looking for any excuse not to replace it. They are such a joke.I would never buy another Rheem - I would never recommend one. My plumber kept telling them that the water had nothing to do with why this is not working. But they didnt care. They told me to go buy another one. Horrible customer service. Horrible product. Stay away from Rheem. Even my plumber told me that I should have read more reviews - most of their repairs are for Rheem.

I have had this water heater for 1-1/2 years and every 6 months have to have the igniter changed. Getting very expensive for the part and labor. I could have bought a new water heater (certainly not a Rheem though). They know they are having a problem with this so why aren’t they fixing it to make their customers happy. This Rheem gas water heater is CRAP. I always thought Rheem had a good name and quality product. Not anymore. Do not buy from this company. Only wish I had researched before I bought it.

I hope future customers read and take heed. Dont buy a Rheem hot water heater if you desire a good product and even fair customer service. I have waited since July for a refund check, that I had to pay ($225.00) to the contractor. He refuses to work with RHEEM. I can see why! He only worked on mine because I am a regular customer. Today (2 months later) I called to find out WHEN I should be getting a check. I was told 4-8 MORE weeks. Because I didnt submit my cancelled check with my claim - therefore - it hasnt even been processed. No call from them to tell me I needed to send cancelled checks. That shouldnt be any of their business. SO HERE I SIT - at least I have hot water now, BUT for how long? Who Knows????

We bought a water heater in 2009. 2014 - realized it was leaking all over the garage. Called the big box store from which we purchased and was told we would only get $140.00 credit towards a new water heater. To my understanding GE and Rheem are no longer affiliated so the warranty becomes pro-rated. Therefore the 12 year warranty we thought we were getting is no longer good. I called the 800 number on the water heater and talked to 3 different people. 2 were very rude. The last lady I spoke to gave me an address to write a letter and complain. If there is a class action lawsuit in the works, I would love to be part of it. Rheem owes me $490.00.

Installed a water heater that worked for two days. Called customer support. Spent 20 minutes waiting, only to be redirected to a technician with a 40 minute wait. I got a teenaged millennial who had never installed a water heater and clearly wanted me off the queue. I got exactly one question, whats the voltage across the incoming electrical leads. Despite both leads providing 120VAC, I was told it was an electrical problem, determined by ONE test, and dismissed. No other diagnostics were performed and no interest in what, where are when anything happened. Describing the problem and steps taken was of no interest to the teenager on the other end. Clearly designed to avoid actual customer service. So if you want to talk to a know-it-all teenager on a phone in a cube, call Rheem customer support. If ya want to fix your WH, try YouTube and Amazon.

What a terrible Product to start leaking so fast, and it was professionally installed by Home Depot. Buying Rheem Seer 20 heat pump/ac unit is the worst investment of our lives. Three months after buying it quit and installer said it needed to replaced but under warranty. Waited 2 months and installed in December. Incredibly loud!!!! Sounds like a loud compressor running beside the house. If the outside temperature gets cold it is very inefficient warming the house. At -10C (14F) it couldnt keep the house warm and we had frozen pipes! Incredibly disappointed to have to live with this horrible investment. If I win the lottery this will be the first thing I replace.

Purchased a 50 gallon water heater in 2011 with a nine-year Rheem guarantee. Awakened yesterday to a leak in the unit. Since I was 5 years into the warranty period, I did not expect much but called the customer service anyway. A polite technical representative explained that the element gasket had failed after I described the leak. Called my plumber who came immediately and determined that the unit failed. He replaced both elements. Still leaked. Called customer service again and they suggested something I did not understand related to the power supply. The plumber took the phone. Within minutes he whispered to me the technicians at Rheem were not knowledgeable. He asked one of the three he spoke to how many heaters she had installed. She told him she had observed an installation once. He spent 1.5 hours trying to get them to honor the warranty in any way.I went to Lowes and purchased a new heater which my plumber installed without charge. The final Rheem representative told me I had invalidated the warranty with the new installation. She stated we could have gone through additional technical assessment via phone had I not replaced the unit. I asked for one example and she stated Testing the junction box. I responded that she was talking nonsense and asked what other technical assessments we could have done. She repeated that it did not matter because I had replaced the unit and invalidated the warranty. Please read the other stories presented here. The pattern is the same. Rheem had no intention of honoring their warranty. Their representatives offer questionable advice (use a voltmeter, check electric supply in a leaking unit, etc.) and clearly could not respond to my plumber who challenged them.

The condenser coil in my 6 year old AC unit is leaking and no longer cools my house which is 90 degrees. The part is under warranty but is on backorder and has to be manufactured. A month and a half later in the 90 degree summer I still dont have the part and Rheem can not tell me an estimated time of arrival. What good is a warranty if Rheem can not fulfill it? A $1,000 repair under warranty is going to turn into a new unit (NOT a Rheem) for $6,000 plus. I will never buy a Rheem again! I have seen multiple other reviews saying the condenser coils in Rheem AC units typically are replaced prematurely due to poor design. Buyer beware.

I suspect that the Thermostat on the lower heater element is dead but, I am now at work and cant get back home to look at it. Of course it dies on a weekend. We are a family of 5 and honestly this is the last thing we need. The tank was working perfectly up until a few days ago. Now Ill have to contact Rheem and see if I can get any warranty out of them. I feel that the best thing I can do is call my local Home Depot where I bought the thing and see if I can get them to issue me a replacement!Uggh, I dont have time for this!!!! Do not buy this unit as it will not last you. This was supposed to be a 9 year tank!!!

After some piss poor diagnostics by the plumbing company, they finally called Rheem and determined it is the gas valve assembly that is faulty. Part will take two days to arrive. Although part is covered by warranty the labor is not so I will now have to pay $300 for the diagnostic fee and installation of the new valve on a TWO YEAR OLD water heater. Monday rolls around and still no part. I call again yesterday and there is no order placed under my name!!! After we get the order squared away I ask if someone is going to come and install this new part and they told me a service contract we had expired in Sept. 2021. I told them since they screwed us and didnt place our order the first time they should come install this for us anyways and they said THEY CANT. I purchased a Rheem Smart water heater back in November 2018. In August 2019 the water heater control panel shorted out and fried control panel. I need to add I did not pair my smart phone to my water heater. I set the temp to 120 and went about my everyday business. I called the tech line around 2 pm and was told I had to wait for a tech to arrive to fix the water heater. That was okay until they stated there were no techs available in my area, so they offered me allowance of $125.00 to find a plumber to come out and fix the water. Well problem 2 is there were no parts available in our surrounding area and I would have to wait for 2-3 days to receive the replacement part. Of course I was not going without hot water for that period of time and a plumber around here is $185.00 an hour from 8-5 and $277.50 for after hours. After they caved and got Home Depot to replace the water heater I downgraded to the basic and once installed it began to leak. Frustrating as it was I returned to home depot with the water heater at 9:50 pm and was given another water heater. Problem 3, I received the replacement control panel 4 days later and called three times asking to return it and Jesse says just throw it away, no need to return it. Rheem must be making money hand over fist to throw parts away like that. Im a home depot customer and I buy what they sell. Hopefully they will start carrying another brand for customers to choose from. I do not recommend this brand of water heater for any home due to the poor customer service they provide. Seven hours to replace a water heater. Thank God Im a do it yourself-er and dont have to depend on anyone to repair my home.

They call me to say that the water heater is under recall and to call them. They dont tell me that the part they promised isnt really being shipped. I call them. Transferred to another department. Now Im told that I will receive an e-mail in a couple of days telling me how to get a part a couple of days after that. That means no hot water for six days. Request to speak to a supervisor. After 30 minutes on hold, I get tier 2 support - just another call center. Told that the warehouse is closed at 3:00 pm and the part might ship tomorrow - meaning only five days with no hot water - If they really do ship the part and it isnt defective - which some other posts suggest it might be. I had a Rheem water heater in my new house, only 3 1/2 years old. It ended up being defective and needing replacement. It was very difficult getting any assistance in replacing it. I found a plumber to assist with the installation. I found the wholesaler where my builder purchased the water heater. After 9 months dealing with the wholesaler, I finally was able to get a water heater. I paid the plumber $550.00 for installation, knowing that Rheem would likely cut me a check for this cost. Found out, Rheem was going to let me eat this cost. I would not have incurred this cost if it were NOT for a defective water heater. I bought a Rheem 50 gal. residential gas hot water heater. Installed it myself, because its not difficult. Lit the pilot and gave it ample time to heat. Got a shower that evening and the water temp. alternated from warm to cool and continued to cycle that way throughout the entire shower. Couldnt get any help from Home Depot. Most reps there dont know their ** from a hole in the ground. Looked online and found some broke-** plumbers asking for donations to solve problems. What I did is what most should do, but dont because they dont have the time or cash. This is precisely how a company like this survives. There is not enough coverage on what a piece of ** product these ** put out. Just another sell out company that has junk put together by those from the land of dirty **. Had a plumber buddy suggest Rinnai. So I drained the Rheem and took it back. Put a Rinnai in and lived happily ever after. Because Im from back east and dont mind speaking out. Every time Im in Home Depot, supply yard, hardware store, etc.. Ill check the plumbing supply aisle, and have thus far talked 3 people out of buying Rheem products. Feel like getting Rheemed Id say. That doesnt hurt their profit, but if people keep it up and bad mouth them every chance they get, especially us contractors, eventually they may build a better product or at least hire a few professionals to help. Either way, Im from the old school and its too late, will never buy anything this company puts out and have steered other contractors to this site, so they can see for themselves the amount of dissatisfaction. My new home has a Rheem RP14 installed. Its terrible. At 32 degrees it produces almost no heat. I purchased a 50 gallon water heater a week ago. From the day it was installed it leaked. I have had someone from the installer, Rheem or Home Depot at my house every day. They replaced a heating element and it still leaked. Now they are trying to blame me that it was not leaking, as there was no water in the pan when the repair guy left. Really... It leaks every time about an hour after they leave. Now, they tell me it might be the pressure valve and I have to pay for the visit and fix. Funny, old heater worked fine with no leaks, just old and lots of crud in the bottom. In the last discussion, the Rheem agent told me that it might be an expansion thing that happens naturally and leaks into the pan. Now, I am beside myself and not dumb, you should never have water in the pan. Rheem/Home Depot, stand up and take responsibility for the products you sell. I pay $1400 for nothing but headaches and stress hoping the thing doesnt explode and flood my home.

Failure in 5 years and 10 Months and a 6-year warranty not honored: The Rheem water heater was installed when the house was finished in July 2006. The water heater failed in May 2012, having rusted through the bottom. The product was designed to fail shortly after the warranty date. Water heaters used to be considered durable goods, and that level of quality needs to be our expectation, given the nature and cost of the product.Rheem confirmed that the unit was still covered under warranty. However, the warranty terms and the procedure for replacement are unconscionable to the point where it would be more cost-effective to replace the unit at your own expense. So, we have a non-durable good and a difficulty to enforce warranty. Both of these conditions are illustrative of failure (and indicative of our national culture, which encourages corporate theft through planned obsolensce).I have sent a certified letter to Rheem on these issues and concerns. Lets see if the company will stand by its products. The reviews on this site and others dont give me much hope in this regard.

This water heater was installed in my new home by the building contractors
This water heater was installed in my new home by the building contractors plumber for around $800.+. I had no control as to the choice. It recently stopped working and I had a friend who is a certified heating and air conditioner contractor. He said that the heater is leaking from the top and fills up the blower and shuts off the exhaust. There as a safety will not turn on the burner. He removed the water from the blower and the heater worked for two weeks. Loaded up with water again. I never was given a copy of the warranty, so I did not know about the six years expected life on this expensive heater. I have had two other homes and never had a water heater that did not last 15 to 20 years and they did not cost $800+. I called Rheem, but warranty is no more, which would not have made any difference, from what I read from others that had the same model 41VRP4ON, and got no response. My heater has been fixed again and is expected to run for another two weeks, until the blower fills up again. When I finally give up on it, the service man says he is going to take it apart and expects poor welding by the manufacturer where the pipes goes into the top. No heater would leak from the top in less that 6 years if it was properly put together and inspected. I will certainly let my contractor as well as the others know about this brand, in order that others are not cheated out of their money!

Yesterday we contacted Rheem regarding one of their hot water tanks that was only installed in April 2015, due to a loud bang then started leaking from the bottom. They authorized a replacement since was way under the Warranty Period. So far we were happy with the outcome. It wasnt UNTIL we took the defective tank back to Home Depot where it was originally purchased. First of all, they had no clue as to what they were doing, couldnt find our receipt even though was purchased with their CC and finally did NOT even do an even exchange. They charged us the difference from what was paid in April 2015 and what the price of the tank is NOW. Their reasoning behind this is the tank that was purchased in 2015 is NO LONGER manufactured so we had to get the one compatible to it. FIRST off, is it my fault the Hot Water Tank which was less than a year old went! SECONDLY, again is it my fault the original tank is NO LONGER manufactured! We proceeded to contact Rheem today regarding this issue, at which time they advised they have NO control how Home Depot processes Rheems defective merchandise/warranties or their prices. I was shocked and told the Customer Service Rep so. How can a company offer a warranty and NOT FULLY honor it. This should have been an even exchange regardless. I could understand if we wanted to upgrade or purchase larger. This was the only tank that was available.

Now, as I write this, the condenser fan motor sounds like it went or will go this soon and will most likely need to also be replaced. I think the only thing left I havent replaced is the condenser itself. I would be surprised if Rheem are not bankrupt next year. Ill NEVER buy anything made by Rheem or Ruud. They have no quality control and contractors are dumping them from all the black eyes they are now getting because of Rheems bad failing products.

We have a five year old tankless water heater. The gas control valve went out. We were told this rarely happens. There is only a five year warranty on parts and we missed the deadline by four months. Rheem customer service rep was very rude. Our plumber recommended Rheem because they had a reputation for good products and parts. I wished I would have researched instead of taking his word for it. I would never buy a Rheem product again.

Replaced our water heater of 20 years with a Rheem because it was a good brand and has been around. It worked fine for a week and then the pilot went out. Re lit and 2 days went out again. Then it was going out every couple hours. I called Tech support with Rheem and said they would have a plumber contact me. Plumber came out and determined it was the main Gas control. Took 4 days to get the part and we installed it and still did the same thing. Called tech support again, they wanted us to take the burner assembly to check if something was tripped. If it was they would send another part out. We have been without hot water for almost two weeks. Im tired of the runaround and took it back to home depot for a refund. So disappointed with the whole situation. They could have overnighted the parts instead of waiting days for them.

I wish I knew now what I should have known then. I purchased a 2.5 ton Rheem unit in Jan 2012 and had it installed for my 1000 sq ft condo in AZ. No problems at first but then in Aug 2016 the unit started blowing hot air and had techs come out. After spending almost $1000 for coil cleaning, new blower motor plus other stuff the unit was running again. Then in 2018 it started blowing hot air again. This time I had a handyman who was working on my condo told me the coil were frozen over and let it run blower only for 24 hours and let it thaw out, that worked. Now forward to Aug 2020 in AZ with the temps averaging 114 outside plus covid happening the unit again started blowing out hot air. Techs again come out. Tell me it needs parts, Freon, new condenser and maybe that would fix my problem. It would be about $4000 and it was not guaranteed. It would not happen again. I was told by two companies that Rheem units are a piece of crap and they do not sell them at all. I purchased another new unit. I do not think things should break in less than 10 years. Wish I also knew that Rheem has lawsuits against them in 2014.

Trying to build cheap but sell high. Anyway I just notice my water heater by Rheem had burn marks and a little smoke, and water leak. I am just fed up. I am out of cash. Fixing appliances over and over because the manufacturer did not do its job! I have no idea what to do. I spent $4300 on a brand new Rheem HVAC because the coils were corroded. Jesus!

I have a Rheem hot water heater, 50 gallon, that is still under warranty. On Friday 061716 I woke up to no hot water. After checking the tank we find out the pilot is out, so we re-lit the pilot only to wake up on 6/18/16 with no hot water again. We called technical support at Rheem and we were walked through a few diagnostic steps. The tech tells us it is the thermocoupler and that he can have one shipped out. We received the part on Tuesday, now 5 days without hot water, and we had it installed on Thursday. One hour after the pilot was re-lit it went out again and we were not able to re-lit. On Friday morning we call Rheem again and speak to a supervisor named Shakira. Before calling we had checked online and see that this issue we are having is happening to a lot of Rheem hot water tank owners out there.Shakira was no help what so ever, all she could do was refer us to repair companies in the area that we will have to pay. She also tells us that the tech rep that we spoke to on Saturday really was not qualified to make a diagnosis of what was wrong with our tank. I was lucky enough to get a company to come out Friday afternoon at the cost of $297... The tech tells me that the problem is the gas valve which is very common in Rheem tanks. He even showed me that the valve he was replacing the bad one with had been re-engineered because the original valves were faulty. It seems Rheem has a pattern of sending out the thermocoupler part, even though they are very well aware that the problem is their Gas Valve. It seems to me that Rheem is WELL aware that there is a problem with their hot water heaters but refuse to stand by their product. What has happened to customer service and making things right for the customer? I have also contacted a local tv stations consumer department to see if they can look into this. If more of us would call Rheem out publicly and go after them then perhaps we could all be reimbursed for our repair costs as well as help the next person out that goes through this. I was without hot water for 8 days and I have read that others have gone even longer. I would never buy anything from Rheem, as they have horrible customer service and they could care less about their customers.

Bought a Rheem tankless hot water heater in Summer 2012. Installed by licensed plumber. Unit froze up in the very cold weather we had this winter, and the copper tubing split. Plumber said he could repair unit, but Rheem wont sell parts. The plumbing supply house where I purchased it told me that they no longer sell Rheem units.Contacted their customer service. Was disconnected after long waits 8 times just as I was at the You are customer number 5 stage before finally getting a woman who gave me a direct number to the tech department which was answered immediately. I was requested to take pictures (inside unit, and outside) and email them, which I did. That was nearly a month ago. I have heard NOTHING back from them, despite two other emails. My next step is contacting the Mississippi State Attorney Generals Office. The unit worked well and saved me over $80.00 a month on my electric bill, but I have now been without hot water for nearly 5 months. Hoping that I can get this thing fixed. Probably will have to buy a new unit and it WILL NOT be a Rheem.

Our experience is exactly the same. So what can we all do. We are about to replace the coil (aluminum versus copper, our HVAC serviceman says will make the difference). He is not 100% sure the problem is there since the leak is very small. To really check will cost about 600 for a nitrogen test. So at this point we are down $300 for visit and freon replacement and potentially down another $600 to replace the second coil. Our unit like the rest is 2012 with problems in 2014 and now.

I had a 5 ton Rheem heat pump installed in 2006 to replace a prior AC that lasted 25 years. Two weeks ago, I had to replace the condenser fan and the reversing valve to the tune of over a thousand dollars. Last Friday, I came home from work and the house was 90 degrees inside. I called my HVAC man and he came out. The blower motor had gone out. Not only did it go out, but the barrel and housing is rusted onto the motor and cant be removed. Parts are not in stock and have to be ordered. I will be without air for a week when the parts get here with an outside average temp of 110 here in Arizona. I wouldnt put another Rheem on my roof if they gave it to me for free. What a piece of crap. By the time the repairs are done, I will be in this over $2,000. My advice is to stay away from this product and company. If they cant make a product where you dont have to replace almost every major part in it in only 6 years, it’s obvious they dont care about customer satisfaction. This is my opinion. You can take it or leave it.

We have decided to replace our hot water tanks before it fails. My wife figured it was about 13-14 years old. I was shopping around for a tank and it finally clicked, why don't I see what brand we have now, as 13 years is pretty darn good. The installer had the date of installation Dec 24/2001... WOW. It’s a Rheem Professional 410 professional grade. So that's what I will be looking for now. A instructor at my work in the plumbing department suggested I get a basic model (6 year warranty), but make sure I drain the tank once a year and wait until the water runs clear to get all the sediment out and prevent corrosion. Don't forget to turn off the breaker first. I'm definitely getting another Rheem. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Wish I had not bought the Rheem Water Heater from Home Depot! Top heating element failed within 3 weeks. I am still in warranty on all parts and labor, but have had to wait 4 days to receive the part. Customer service at Rheem promised me they would order the labor. The day I called so the part could be installed as soon as it arrived. That did not happen. So now, day 4 - I finally have the part but now have to wait another day before a technician can come out and fix it. It will be 5 Days with no hot water! On a brand new heater. I did my research too late, apparently this is a common problem with Rheem Heaters. I would not recommend purchasing it, especially from Home Depot. I hope this review saves someone else from going through what Im dealing with!

So I call again and just like the first call I held on waiting for 52mins, someone finally answered just to tell me, Oh hold on. I have to transfer you to technical support. So I held on for another 49mins. Now this is the good part, someone finally answered just to tell me she has to send a referral to the technicians and they will call to me to schedule a service call.

DO NOT PURCHASE A RHEEM WATER HEATER! If I could give them zero stars, I would. Our water heater started leaking 2 yrs after install (rusted out). The DAY we were getting a new one, the front panel burst into flames, resulting in a call to 911. Thankfully, we were home, or our house would be gone & our pets would be dead! My husband took it back to Home Depot, but because we didn’t have the receipt (?!?), they would only issue store credit. They only sell Rheem, so NO WAY we’re we going to get another one. We went to Lowe’s and are out another $410 for a different brand. When I called customer service, I spoke with 3 different people. NOT ONE of them apologized or showed any remorse for our house fire; in fact, they didn’t even sound surprised. The Sr. Rep I spoke with (who claimed she was the highest up person I could speak with over the phone) tried to tell me it was our fault (no), our electric system (no again), and then tried to tell me it was Home Depot’s fault (they didn’t make the unit, YOU DID!). They were HORRIBLE, and tried to buy me off with a $100 “Customer Satisfaction Check”. I declined, telling them that didn’t cut it; I wanted the full price of the new water heater I had to buy out of pocket. She continued to be rude, refuse, and treat me like a know-nothing nuisance. All I was ultimately given was the address & email of their corporate headquarters to take the matter further. (Apparently there are no phones at corporate.) So now I’m gathering up all of my documentation (fire report, photos, etc.). If there’s a lawsuit forming out there, I’ll GLADLY join!

Purchased a brand new Rheem hot water heater from Home Depot in 2018 and right out of the box it was DOA. It says right on the side of the heater to not return it to the place of purchase but rather to call Rheem customer service (which is the worst customer service). Three days later (without hot water) I received a replacement controller. $225 later a plumber installed it and it still would not work. Two more calls to Rheem (they called themselves Rheem because they ream you) and they ship a replacement pilot light kit. $180 for a plumber to install and after many attempts it lights and heats. Works great for a couple months and then the pilot light goes out. Many attempts later and another $120 visit by a plumber they fix it and it now works for close to a year before the pilot light goes out again. Call the plumber and $120 he resolves the issue after three more days of waiting for the part. Works this time for a year and now two and a half years after purchase it dies again. Three days without hot water and multiple calls to Rheem (ream) and they are shipping a replacement part (oh by the way if you want expedited shipping that costs $30 but it still takes two days). I finally got done. It is not worth the hassle of dealing with this company and their garbage product so I am replacing this piece of crap with an AO Smith. The sad thing is that two plumbing companies told me not to purchase Rheem and I did because they had the better warranty. Well the warranty is useless if your only option is two wait for three days for the part and then you still have to pay the plumber to install it. Note to self. Find a reputable plumber, buy the brand they recommend and install and never buy Rheem.

My Ruud furnace had its blower board replaced two years ago and shorted out again on a furnace that is only 14 years old (ave life approximates 20 years). Additionally, the inducer motor has failed too, making it difficult to justify the repair expense versus shelling out for a totally new furnace. I reached out to Ruud customer service and they basically said oh well, too bad. They had no sympathy, offered up no solutions, and had no interest in persuading me to buy a new Ruud or Rheem furnace. They did not care at all whether I was a customer or not. They told me it was the NG controller so I purchased it thinking it would fix the problem. Well, it didnt & since they dont take back these parts, they simply refund your money if they were wrong but they wanted to keep the shipping as well as state sales tax. Similar to some of the stories I have read here, I had the displeasure of owning a Rheem Power Vent water heater. There was trouble from the start. Ive previously spent close to $700 on labor for covered repairs.” Today was the last straw. The blower was gone again! It’s another $350-400 in labor to replace. We told them to yank the Rheem and give us something that would work. Here is the list: a blower (twice), a valve that went bad, and something with the electronic unit all inside of five years! Sure, the part is covered, but I cant afford this piece of junk. Until this water heater, I had owned three others at various homes over 17 years and never once had a repair. Please pass the word about Rheem water heaters. They should be making things right.

The Rheem tankless water heater is nothing but trouble. We have had constant failure of the unit since it was purchased. I have been on the phone with customer service several times trying to self diagnose the problem along with one of their representatives. The same error code keeps coming up time after time and I cant seem to find any plumber who will work on this unit, apparently because it is such a defective POS that no one wants to touch it. We have even had our gas meter upgraded for a larger one, but the tankless continues to fail. I am hoping to participate in a class action lawsuit against Rheem. The unit is clearly defective and they have offered no solution. In the meantime our family continues to be without hot water several day a week, as paying to have the entire water heater replaced is out of our budget at the time. Considering we spent around $2,500 for it(including installation) 2 years ago, it is quite a disappointment that the company will not even recommend someone for repairs.

Purchased a new Furnace and Air Conditioner in 2013 and have had nothing but problems. In 2017 the air conditioner was leaking gas and needed a new evaporation coil. At first we were told that the coil was not covered under warranty but after some investigation on our part we figured out that it was indeed covered, however we had labour cost of over one thousand dollars. This year during a bad cold snap the furnace broke down and needed a new blower. The blower had to be ordered from the States which took 2 weeks to arrive. The blower is not covered by warranty so we were on the hook for the labour as well which was again well over one thousand dollars. Now 2 months later the furnace has stopped working once again and it appears to be the same issue so it’s a cold waiting game until after the weekend to find out what’s wrong this time. Honestly unless you have an unlimited budget for repairs I would stay well away from this product!

Rheem Gas 50 Gal Hot water Heater - Installed 11/02/2013. In August 2014, pilot light started going out. It would re-light and heater would work for a few days. Then pilot would go out again. Repeated this scenario several times. Called installer who referred me to warranty service man. Fixed at no charge but I was told that it was going to fail again, and while the part would be free, a service charge would apply after 1 year of installation. Service man said it is a design flaw, probably caused by the Closed Heating Chamber and the unit was not getting enough ventilation. Corrosion from carbon monoxide damaged the thermal coupling and would re-occur. Rheem Customer Service offered no advice or help.

Purchased a Rheem central a/c system July 2014. Since that time I have experienced a number of problems from leaking refrigerant to replacing the evaporator coil. Beware of promises that parts are covered under warranty. Refrigerant has cost me over $400 and labor to replace defective parts can average $650! DONT BUY RHEEM.

I wish some told me not to buy this water heater from Rheem. Day one: the water heater will not stay on. We called and they sent a new thermostat. It happen over a weekend so that was 4 days no hot water. Here we are 4 months later and the hot water heater wont stay lit again. Weve been on hold the whole day waiting for a customer service personnel that never answered the phone. I finally hung up around 3:30 p.m. to call back and find out that they are now closed. Are so many people unhappy with their water heaters that I couldnt even talk to a person? Guess so. Ive given up. I guess Im out of the $792 I spent because Im buying a different new water heater. I dont have $800 to waste. This will hurt my family. Rheem should be ashamed.

Im helping my father get his Rheem water heater taken care of. It broke several days ago. I went to the Rheem webpage and called a local plumber listed on Rheems website. When I told the plumber I have a Rheem device, he immediately said, Oh, I hate working on those. Everyone hates working on those. Rheem has made it very hard for us to work on their devices, and their tech service line even for us pros is entirely unhelpful. That plumber declined to provide service.I then called a second plumber listed on Rheems website. They came out, evaluated the water heater, and concluded it was broken beyond repair and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, the device is still under warranty, so the plumber directed me to inform Rheem so that I could be sent a replacement. I called Rheem and was surprised that Rheems customer service wanted me to do a bunch of diagnostic maneuvers on the device. Isnt that what the plumber listed on their website who came out did?Regardless, I did as Rheem wanted. Finally, they conceded that it needed to be replaced and was under warranty. But then they said for me to take advantage of the warranty, I need to disconnect the water heater, take it back to the place of purchase, pick up a new water heater there, and bring it back to my place. The water heater is 75 gallons in capacity, and disconnecting and transporting a water heater isnt something the average residential consumer can be fairly expected to do. Requiring me to do all of that functionally more or less makes the warranty a non-warranty. Overall, Ive been unimpressed with Rheems service and warranty.

Ever since this heat pump was installed I have had problems with it. Various heating contractors come and charge me money to try to fix the problem but to no success. Only temporary fixes. I tried to contact Rheem as I feel the unit is defective but no one gets back to you or takes time to help or access the problem. Very dissatisfied and would not recommend Rheem to anyone who needs a heat pump!

We purchased a home three years ago, and the previous owners had put in a new water heater the year before. It has a 6 year warranty on it and we are 4 years into it. The water heater failed today. When we contacted RHEEM, they said that the warranty follows the owner. WHAT??? This was definitely a ridiculous and clear way of avoiding the warranty, while not standing behind their product. BUYER BEWARE!!

I had 3.5 ton Sure Comfort heat pump installed in May 2020, failed one month later. Repaired and then failed again the same week, a different part. Made it through the summer then the winter failures began. It is only January 2021 and I have had this worked on so many times. The screws wont hold the doors and covers on anymore. This is complete garbage. I have deep regrets buying a Rheem product. I will not buy any Rheem products because of the quality of this product.

I have a Rheem HVAC system. It is 6 years old. Furnace goes out every winter, AC goes out every summer. Although the parts are covered under warranty, I have to pay labor. Additionally, I have to sweat or freeze until it is fixed. Contacted customer support, no help or empathy whatsoever. Dont get RHEEMED by this company.

Purchased and had installed a new Rheem water heater by Home Depot. The installation went well but the new heater was defective and leaked hot water from the top of the unit... I called the Rheem number listed on the side of the water heater and got a call center where I was placed on hold and then no one ever returned. The second attempt to call resulted in being transferred to a technician who never answered. The third attempt: I was told to dig out insulation from the top of the heater to find where it was leaking and repair it myself. I was also told to go out and buy a plug that was missing from the top of the unit. The fourth attempt: I was told to check the water pressure! Its obvious that the personnel in the Rheem call center are not trained in troubleshooting issues and theyll hang up or transfer you if they dont know the answer to resolving a warranty problem. I had to call Home Depot to get the water heater replaced.
