Trane delivers a remarkable product. Having a trained professional to install it correctly, it will last for decades with proper maintenance by a licensed HVAC technician. Not designed as a DIY project.

Built a new home in 2008 and had a TRANE HVAC installed. The AC coil leaked and was repaired within the first year. Now the unit is 8 yrs old and I am told that both the AC coil and the inside attic coil is leaking. Repairs will cost as much as installing a complete system, according to Smith's AC company. I'm now shopping for a more reliable brand. Hopefully with American made parts.

After 20 years of service, my old AC broke down again last year so I replaced it with one from Payne. I looked on the internet to find out what was in my budget and found Payne to be just what I needed. However, when I looked at the customer views on a few sites I found one with a lot of negative reviews and became a little skeptical. I still bought the Payne I had scoped the internet for, after all my wallet had the last say. It’s almost 2 years now and boy, am I glad that this isn’t another bitter review. Thanks Payne the system is working just fine.

I bought a Rheem heating and air unit back in 200. The whole thing is going out now. Had a warranty for 5 years. Shortly after the warranty expires have to put a new fan motor. The electric component on a side went out and now the compressor is out which run anywhere between 1700 and $3,000 and they're saying that my condenser looks like it might be going out so I need a whole new unit on top of all this. My heater motor bearings are going out so now I need a whole new unit.Poor customer service from Hannah here in Andover, Kansas. I've read a lot of customer complaints. It seems to me these the Rheem manufacturers cannot get their act together so it's time for somebody to do something. A new unit could cost me between $5,000 to $6,500 and up not including the parts and labor that I've already paid for poor quality parts. What is anybody going to do about this? I am the man that will do something if there's lawsuits that need be filed so be it and I'm sure with 300 other online reviews and customer complaints a lot of will go a lot with us. After having over a hundred TRANE HVAC units installed by ZIRO and distributed by TERMO SERVIS, we had to replace all these rusted units (see attached photos) that were manufactured by Ingersoll Rand's Kolin, Czech Republic manufacturing facility. These TRANE units were examined by a court-appointed expert who concluded that the manufacturer Ingersoll Rand used inferior quality materials in the manufacturing process. After only a total of less than 20 months of cooling activity, we had to replace completely over a hundred TRANE HVAC units due to corrosion. The most disappointing part of this entire process was that nobody from Ziro, Termo Servis, Trane nor Ingersoll Rand contacted us to find a solution to this serious problem. Even after receiving the report from the court-appointed expert, none of the above-mentioned companies (Ziro/Termo Servis/Trane/Ingersoll Rand) contacted us. Definitely zero quality and evidence that it doesn't take much to stop a TRANE.

August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-403 for $398 from Lowe's. We used their recommended installer (that was our first mistake!). He made the following installation mistakes: 1. He connected the hot water to the cold water & the cold water to the hot water. 2. He installed DRYER venting instead of HVAC venting. 3. He used flammable tape on the venting instead of screws. 4. He had incompatible metals touching near the gas line which can create an electrical charge & thus, a sparking situation. 5. He left us with a gas leak. 6. He did not install the screen that is supposed to surround the base of the water heater.7. He failed to strap down the expansion tank. These failures were discovered by an HVAC person who was in our basement to give an estimate on a replacement of the furnace & AC coil at the same time this "genius" was installing our water heater. The installer overheard the comments & literally... he disappeared & we never saw him again! We told all of this to Lowe's & they were not phased in the least -- indeed, they didn't even seem surprised! They sent out a few other guys from the same company to correct the errors. So, it finally was installed & passed the county inspection & we had hot water again... for a little while. Within a few months the water heater pilot light would not stay lit. I was having to relight it once a week or so. After much arm twisting, we were finally able to get Whirlpool to send out a new pilot light assembly and pay for the installation. It was installed July 25, 2012. And.... it worked for 8 months. After returning from a trip on April 30, 2013, we went to take showers & the water was cold. The same problem was happening again... The pilot light had gone out while we were out of town & it will not stay lit & I have to relight it every 2-3 days.We talked to an assistant manager at the Lowe's store where it was purchased. He talked to Whirlpool & Whirlpool said they would pay for the parts but not the service call which would be $149. I also learned today from the same manager that Whirlpool will not replace the product until they have replaced the same parts three times. Hmmmm.... Let's do some basic math here. $149 x 3 = $447! That's MORE than the water heater cost! We believe that the water heater has been defective from day one & we also contend that their replacement part for the pilot light assembly is also defective (by design??). A pilot light assembly should last longer than 8 months! We are getting ready to build a new home within the next year. We will get to choose our supplier & the manufacturer of the appliances that will be in our home. Needless to say, Lowe's will not be on the list. They keep saying, "Our hands are tied." (Not buying it!) And Whirlpool will definitely be off of our list as their customer service is the worst I've ever seen & their product quality is sub par. The other thing I experienced with Lowe's was that when I tried to leave a review on their site for this specific product... twice... both reviews were rejected. The reviews presented the facts as I've stated here, but because they showed Lowe's & Whirlpool in a negative light, they were not posted on lowes.com. So, consumer beware -- their reviews are heavily screened so that the negative reviews rarely get posted. The consumer should be aware that the reviews on Lowe's website are heavily screened & therefore do not equally represent consumers who have had a negative experience. This is an integrity issue.

10 years ago we had a Trane heat pump and indoor unit installed, we didn't buy the extended warranty because Trane appeared to be a solid brand. Literally each year during a/c season we've had to replace some portion of the indoor and/or compressor units. We've had a circuit board short out because a lizard found a way onto the compressor electronics box. We've replaced 3 master control boards in the inside unit and numerous other circuit boards and sensors. The system has not been reliable and has cost us as much in repairs as we paid for it originally. The Trane website talks about all the extensive testing they do but they seem to overlook basic things. It doesn't seem that we should have to replace this many electronics each time we start the a/c season.

We bought a Whirlpool refrigerator in January at Home Depot. In July we started noticing that the freezer doesn't work. The ice maker doesn't work, everything melt away. Frozen items were lost. We constantly have to dry the floor since it is leaking water. We called whirlpool on July 27 and they send someone to check it out the following day. He reported that we need a new freezer door. I call for a follow up, I was told that it will take 6-8 weeks before we get a new door and part for the ice maker. We recently called to follow up on the status of the door just to find out that the order didn't get process until mid August. In the meanwhile, the fridge is having condensation. Water is everywhere inside. Fruits are being rotten because of too much moisture. We called again and they send out the same technician. The technician reported that the fridge will not work properly until freezer is fix. We call whirlpool again just for them to tell us to wait for the part, and gave us an extra 6 month warranty.

Trane XR15. Terrible Unit. My unit was installed in August of 2018 - biggest mistake I have ever made with a capital purchase. I bought the filtration system for $1500 and that has never worked. I had to buy 6 house air cleaners. I tried to return the unit after 1 year because it had NO dust whatsoever on it but they refused. The heating works just fine. The a/c is a constant nightmare. It just never cools except at night when the temperature goes down. I am out $10,000 and I am going to have to replace this unit because it is absolute junk. I keep having repair come out who find nothing wrong with the unit. So they have disconnected the $1500 air filtration system to see if this will help with cooling the air. I think I am going to call a couple of attorneys and see if they can help me to get a new unit ---- not from Trane but make Trane pay.
