The washer has a very large capacity and is pretty basic, but does the job. I don't need all the options. It fill based on sensing the size of the load so I don't have to guess. It has basic look, but so far has performed very well. I like that it is American made.

I bought a Amana washer and paid over 400.00 dollars for it brand new in the box. It last 1 year before the door that automatically latches the door on top broke and on the front of the control panel its flashing and says door latch. Its going to cost me 90.00 for a new lock. If thats the problem - if not, they said its the circuit board. It cost 230.00. I will never buy another appliances under this name.

I purchased an Amana Washer and Dryer from McKinneys Appliance in September 2014. Sometimes it works - but more often it does not. It does not clean the clothes, but it does get them wet. I put a load in, press the start button, and it sits there - finally a ding and the door locks and the cycle goes directly to spin - and no water in the tub. The circuit board has been replaced twice - the repair lasts one month, and the problem comes back again. I contacted Amana and waited 6 weeks for a repair person from Appliance Repair - the company was in another city.

I purchased this Amana washer in March 23, 2015. In February 27, 2016, this problem occurred: I turn on the washer, but as soon as the wash fill ups with water, it does not move to wash and it does not lock to start the wash cycle. The water drains and then I have to start the wash all over again. So I thought it was the lid switch, and my solution was to push down on the lid hard enough until I heard a click sound. This worked for several months. Another problem occurred on August 12, 2016: my load would complete the cycle, but when I open the lid, I clearly see that the clothes are soaked so this means that during the drain/spin cycle, the speed was too slow to fully squeeze out all of the water from the clothes. So my next solution was to start the drain/spin cycle only, but again. With all these problems that keep coming up, we decided to use our warranty, so we called in to have the washer repaired. We called HHGregg to repair the washer, and we gave all the detailed information as to the problems and the possible fixes to it. Their representatives solution was to replace the washer because they deemed the necessary repairs to the washer as costing more than the value of the washer. Well, we were shocked, because this washer is only 18 months old, so how could its value decrease so quickly in under 2 years? I researched and found that the drain/spin and lid switch is a very common problem with Amana washers. So we understood that we got what we paid for. So back to the washer replacement with HHGregg. They shipped us a new washer for around the same price of our old purchase.Again, we purchased the first washer in March (we got a St. Patricks Day Sale Price), and now were getting this new washer that is smaller and still is an Amana. HHGregg refuses to repair it, they would rather give us a washer that is smaller in capacity and would most likely last for a year but no more than 2 yrs. In a nutshell, we were screwed over by HHGregg, because they saved on repair costs, and gave us a washer of lesser value than what we originally started with. Oh ya, we had to pay on taxes, obviously, so they profited from that too. AMANA WASHERS ARE TERRIBLE!!! Save your money and purchase a more reliable washer!!!

I just recently purchased an Amana Top Load washer and so far am happy with it which is why I am writing this review. People generally only write reviews when they do not like a product or service and its misleading when you only read a few negative reviews. A lot of people complain about the controls but didnt you look at these things at store before your purchase? Obviously not and now want to complain?

The washer smelled like wires were overheating. 5 service appointments later the unit was replaced by Amana. My husband and I bought a brand new Amana front load washer in May of 2009.
My husband and I bought a brand new Amana front load washer in May of 2009. Last week, March 5, 2011, it broke. It began buzzing. When I went to check it, the washer has an “ND” code and it would not open. The first girl I spoke with was Samantha. She told me that she couldnt find that code in her computer (on the net is says it means no drain, most likely true), but she told me how to get the washer to unlocked. Eventually, it did work. My washer still had dirty water and soap in it. I handled the soapy mess and later washed my clothing at my in-law’s house. When I called back to talk to them about why my washer wouldnt work and what they could do to help me, I was told nothing. I spoke to a manager and was told the same thing. The only thing they were willing to do was give me a warranty plus one. Meaning, that I get this repair fixed and one-year warranty on the piece of junk in my basement. My washer wont be 3 till May. There is no reason for it to be broken. I also did my own research and many people have complained about the same problem. I feel that this washer should be recalled or at least the company should fix it at no cost to the consumer. This seems to be an on-going problem with this model. We bought thinking this we were buying from a good company. Now, Im stuck with a scrap pile till I get the repair guy to come out, thanks to a warranty that I have to pay for out of pocket.

I have Amana Washer in my apartment. When I first used it I noticed my clothes werent clean so I did some research to make sure I was using the right detergent. I was using the right detergent. No water ever entered the washer. It only sprinkled the clothes with water. I had to rewash the clothes by hand to get them clean. This has gone on over a year. Management claim that they called a licensed Amana dealer. I took pictures and sent them to Amana and to the apartment managers. The apartment managers have even came out and have been aware of the machine not working. We had an outage in December and the machine now makes a terrible noise. So the guy that cleans the yard came and unplugged it. After a year of not working properly and never being fixed and now they want me to replace machine that was already damaged. The guy that works here claims he cant remember it not working. This guy stood there and actually lied. If you look at the pictures there is very little water. You have to have water to wash clothes. These were taken in January 2015.

My daughter purchased a washer in August 2015. Two months later in October 2015 the lid locked and could not be opened. She called Amana for service. It took 2 weeks for someone to come to her house and look at it. He ordered parts, 2 weeks later he put the parts in. Still didnt work. Without all the details, it is three months later and six visits from the repair men and the washer is still not fixed. Now they are saying the repairman is only in her area twice a week and only in the mornings. She works mornings and is available afternoons. This very poor service and product that Amana is providing. This washer should have been replaced with a new one by now. NEVER again will our family purchase an Amana product.

Bought my Amana top-loading washer in April 2014. Most of my laundry isnt deeply soiled, so didnt think much of it for a while. However, becoming more obvious now that my clothes are not getting clean enough. I garden and have a dog, so sometimes get socks soiled and dirt on clothes when dog jumps up. My whites are not white and the soiled areas dont come out. I had my previous Whirlpool washer over 20 years and didnt have this problem. Have checked the manual to be sure Im using right detergent and loading the washer correctly, but hasnt solved the problem. I liked the price, capacity, and no-frills model of the washer I bought, but not happy with the cleaning results. Dont want to have to buy another one, and always thought Amana was a reliable brand, but I personally could not recommend to others.

Purchased a new Amana Washing Machine, top loader. Repair personnel just left. Oil was leaking from underneath the front. They said, Two to three weeks for new motor and other parts. I was told to continue to use it. My concern is that if there is no oil how can the motor work and the motor is the main part with additional parts. How can I continue to use it? This is a safety concern. If motor has to be replaced because the oil is gone, wouldnt it overheat causing a fire hazard, or further damage to the appliance?Updated on 09/25/2015: The repair technician just left, after a six week wait for six new parts including motor. Everything below the top. It had leaked oil onto the floor. No water damage. Just the motor and all its internal parts. This was a brand new product not a refurbished product, so I paid full price. After the ninth load of clothes this happened and less than ninety days I had go without using my washer. To my dislike I havent been offered a new product replacement nor reimbursed for my inconvenience. Im having Trust issues even right now on using my newly repaired new product. This is concerning to me. It is for this reason that I would have to rate this product a ZERO.

I have purchased several washers of this model over the last few years. Never again. I have had to have a service tech out to repair it five different times. They have replaced a coupler, transmission, motor, solenoid and issue of not emptying. I purchased the five year extended warranty because the one year warranty was up by about three months when the first one broke. So the repairman came out to fix it. It was going to cost me more than replacing it with a new one (that keeps breaking). I will never buy an Amana again.

This is the worst washing machine Ive ever used! You cannot soak any clothes because if you walk away with the lid open during the filling cycle and you do not close the lid within 10 minutes it pumps the water out. There is no way to delay the wash cycle in order to soak a load of clothes. The rise cycle fills with cold water, does not agitate, and immediately pumps the water out. When it has finished pumping the water out (there is no way to stop this action) I then need to turn the selector knob to rinse in order to rinse the clothes. This results in my using twice the water for the rinse. Talk about a crummy machine. I had a repairman out to replace the control board, but it only worked for a week. My advice - DO NO BUY AMANA PRODUCTS!

Amana Top Load Washer W10740545A; W10740546A - This washer was purchased from Albert Lee Appliances, Bellevue, WA, on 3/31/2015 and installed on 4/7/2015. It failed to operate for the first time on 8/5/2015. Once the appliance is installed, the customers are on their own and Albert Lee turns over repair to a company named Appliance Hospital, Seattle, WA. It does not seem like a good business decision to not also be responsible for repair for how can they gauge what products reliably serve their customers? An Appliance Hospital technician arrived on 8/7/2015, pressed the same start button that we had been engaging and the washer worked. He left with the promise that a new controller would be ordered -- not received or installed as of this date. Thus, it appears that we are involved with an intermittent failure. This does not translate to reliability concerns on the part of Albert Lee Appliances, Appliance Hospital and especially Amana-Whirlpool. Apparently, none of these businesses are concerned with the stocking of an appropriate number of repair parts locally. I would recommend that other buyers not consider doing business with the above.

After two years the washer started to sound like a jetliner taking off. I called Maytag and it would cost over $400.00 to repair. We bought an Amana Dishwasher (division of Whirlpool) Model ADB1400PYW in March of 2014. This is just to let consumers know that they should check to make sure new parts are in a new appliance. In February of 2016 we had to replace the control panel board because it was not completing a full cycle and the Clean Light would blink. We did the troubleshooting first before calling our repairman. When he removed the old control board he noticed something odd. He showed me and my husband a little sticker on the part. It said RECONDITIONED. Why was a reconditioned part in a new appliance? No wonder it broke down after not even two years of use. I called Whirlpool and they had no explanation and of course could not offer me any reimbursement because we put a replacement in. Whatever. So beware when buying an Amana appliance or any Whirlpool for that matter.

Purchased an Amana washer nine years ago, and the washer is only used once
Purchased an Amana washer nine years ago, and the washer is only used once a week. And you would think it would last longer. Were talking about two loads a week. It will cost $300 to repair. What has happened to the craftsmanship of some of our appliances? And I have noted that if I had a family, it would have malfunctioned sooner, but if its only me, it would take longer. All of the complaints that I discovered so far are mostly about the seal and the leaking water from the bottom. So I spent $75 to have a repairman tell me it would cost $300. How can Amana continue to manufacture these washers without having a recall? The model number is NAV2330AWW, serial number NO1004341EG. I have seen this model mentioned in several complaints. I will never buy another Amana brand item. It is not fair when a company has existed forever and continues to manufacture poor quality products. Who can you trust, who stands behind their name saying we are the best, who knowingly manufactures and sells a product with a short service life? That is Amana. It is all about the profit and not about a positive reputation. It is my fault for not Googling about Amanas complaints regarding their washers. It would have saved me at least $75 for the diagnostic repair fee.

We purchased this washer on 11/11/10 because my washer finally let go after 18 years of wonderful service. I have had A&E at my house 6 times to fix this washer the main problem was it was chewing up and shredding my clothes and leaking then the seal around the door would come off that has been replaced multiple times. The mother board and transmission also have been replaced. Now 15 months after I purchased this machine and 6 visits later, it has happened again. The machine has ruined my daughter’s brand new coat along with my postal uniform. I have finally become angry so I call up my extended warranty (thought it was a good idea to get an extra 4 years of coverage just in case). The woman I spoke to was very nice and actually tried to get me a brand new washer but because I only used the extended warranty once, I have to give them another chance to fix it before she can do that. So she scheduled me an appointment with electronic services. The gentleman calls me and asked me what was going on with the washer. I give him all the details and he tells me it is an ongoing problem with that model and they made a replacement part for the one that has been broken so he went and ordered it. The next morning, he called me just a surprised as I am to tell me that the warranty department has denied the claim. Wow! So I call back Home Depot warranty dept and tell her what is happening now. So as of right now, it’s a waiting game. She is calling corporate to see what they can do for me. So hopefully Home Depot does the right thing and stands by their sale since Amana was nothing but nasty to me and very unhelpful through this whole thing. My next step is contacting an attorney and finding other who has received the same outcome because then we can go after Amana full force.

Still the odor kept coming and we could not figure out where the odor was coming from. Then we noticed that the water was not draining all the way out of the washing machine. I bought an Amana frontloader (Model #NFW7200TW) 4 years ago at Home Depot. Machine stopped draining and started showing error code (nd = not draining). I called a repairman, and he diagnosed the problem as a bad relay for the pump. He said because the relay was encased in resin on the back of the control panel, I would have to buy a new panel. Later, when he called me to give the part number, he said that the part was on a nationwide backorder and would be $400.00 when it became available on 10/15. I did some checking online and found that the part W10273828 is in fact on back order and no one has one. It seems that this means that this part is a definite weak link, and this model should be recalled. On this site, there are several posts with the same problem.

When there were manual controls, you could set a machine to do what you want and leave, knowing the wash cycle that you selected, regardless of your reasons, would do what you asked and come back knowing it was done. With the electronic controls, I must fight with the stupid machine to get it to rinse or spin as needed, fill as required, or whatever (wash really dirty gardening clothes well or wash hockey equipment). The automatic settings get it wrong regularly. Very frustrating.

This machine does not wash clothes very well. Everything must be hand washed beforehand. So for lightly soiled items, it would be nice to be able to just rinse and spin/dry. But even this small feature is impossible to isolate. The spin cycle leaves clothes quite wet. The rinse cycle adds more water than the wash cycle does and takes forever. Remember that I am getting the dirt out by washing the clothes by hand. The wash cycle does such a poor job. When I put the bed cover in for a wash, the water level did not wet more than half of the cover. So I manually filled it with water from the sink. The washer released the water out. So I wasted all that soap and effort. I took the cover to the laundromat. This machine does not wash laundry well. It has one reason for being in the house: to wash laundry, and I am doing clothes by hand or going to a laundromat. #fail.

We recently purchased an Amana washer Model# NTW4605EW1. Supposedly high efficiency. It takes at least 2 full washes to get clothes clean and that includes an extra rinse each time. My husbands work clothes are on a 3rd wash right now. Fed up!! What a waste of money time and water. Now spending money to go to a laundromat until we can afford a new washer. We cant even sell it. How can I do that to some other family? Brand new and headed to the dump. Shame on you Amana.

I purchased an Amana Washer and Dryer 4 months ago and just now moving into my house. I connected it it worked well on first wash. Now it wont spin, drain, had to unplug because it stopped in middle of wash. The sensor lights wont come on just to have a washer full of wet clothes. We tried to turn on now washer wont work. We wasted 800.00 on this set just to have to go somewhere else and purchase another set. This is ridiculous and upsetting. I am going public with our local news station for selling this mess. I recently bought a new home where the appliances were part of the package. They were all brand new so I figured that all was well. I bought liquid fabric softener to put in my rinse cycle, but I ALWAYS kept missing that cycle. I finally sat upstairs next to my laundry room and waited and listened. My washer NEVER fills up with water for the rinse cycle. My clothes have been having soap residue on them for months! This is BS! Plus, the lid always locks so that you can NEVER see how the machine actually washes your clothes. After realizing that my washer never rinsed my clothes I got online to see what other complaints I could read about this company and Im not the only person who said that their clothes never rinse. What sense does this make??? A washer that doesnt rinse??? This company should be ashamed of themselves. Now every time I wash my clothes I have to go upstairs and do a separate rinse cycle. How stupid is that?

Purchased an Amana top loading washing machine in December 2018 from Home Depot. It worked well for about a year. Then after that the issues began. Stopped cleaning clothes completely, leaving them soaked and dirty. Began making horrible loud sounds constantly, it would get stuck on certain cycles and not complete others, it stopped agitating clothes all together. The control panel was completely out of whack by August 2020 and basically beyond repair (per more than one repairman). It stopped functioning altogether by December 2020, which is exactly 2 years after the original purchase date. So I was then forced to purchase yet another washing machine (not Amana). Amana washing machines are a total waste of money and they do not last!!! I regret purchasing one big time...I learned the hard way how poor quality they really are. Do not buy.

Amana front load washer - This machine is 4 years old and has broken down three times due to code ND for not draining. I called tech, and $250 later and new drain pump, it worked for about 6 months. Interface board went out and I paid $200 for the part, which I put in myself. It worked okay for 1 year. Another drain pump is out and I paid $125 for the part. Eight months later, another interface board went out. It is time to junk this new washer and buy another brand. I could have paid for another machine for what it cost me to keep it running. These machines are junk.

The machine is new so he billed $340 the insurance or whatever. Two laundry loads later the machine is dead again. I ruined my laundry because I put the detergent and the bleach and had to wait another week for another repair guy to come. Im not going to be surprised if it dies again soon after... I wonder if all the happy customers reviews are actually submitted by the customers. I also wonder if my review will be screened out and removed from this site. Im gonna post it everywhere though. I recently hurt my back and was not able to manually wash my clothes with this piece of poop. I finally had enough and have upgraded to a automatic clothes washer that agitates the clothes instead of me. This Amana HE washer is the slowest, least efficient, manual clothes washer on the market. I had the piece of junk hauled to the dump before I grabbed the model. It was a Amana HE with no agitator. Should not be sold as a clothes washer. False advertising.

Amana Washer NTW4516F - If I could give Zero or negative I would. This is the MOST awful service I have ever had anywhere, and I am 65 years old and have lived on 3 continents and 4 countries. Awful washer, awful service. The washer blew up with electric sparks all over the place after 3 weeks - couldve electrocuted the lady of the house! Now we are coming up on 4 weeks later and the repair is STILL NOT COMPLETE. I get a lot of sympathy but no action. The local service company never did respond to any follow up, or messages left on their god-awful phone system, and now we have to wait another week to get a second service company in there. Amana never offered to compensate for having to go to the laundromat for a month, or replace their crummy machine.

Two years ago my washing machine died. I bought it used and had it for 17 years. Out of necessity, I purchased the Amana top load he washing machine. It does a terrible job cleaning the clothes and now makes a metal on metal grinding noise when agitating. On my old machine I replaced the clutch in the transmission by myself (6 years before it finally died, Im female and now 50+ yrs. old), on this new Amana, I cant even get the agitator off to even begin diagnosing the problem. My next machine will be an old wringer washer. Im tired of everything being designed to fail so you have to replace it. Amana will never have a place in my home again, not a single product.

I purchased a brand new Amana 3.5 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer with Dual Action Agitator (model NTW4516FW2) in July 2018 from Home Depot. The product has completely stopped working after just over 2.5 years of normal usage in a small household of 2 people. According to the repair representative, the controller has stopped working and needs to be replaced at a cost of more than $500 which would be more than the price paid. The product lasted less than a quarter of the expected lifespan of 12 years. A call to the company that owns Amana (Whirlpool) provided no reprieve such as a discount on a replacement purchase or credit towards other Whirlpool products.

MOD:NTW4605EW0 Type: 587-20 - This product is the worst I have ever used. My Husband and I are in our late 50 on a fixed income and recent stem cell survivor. We had to save for this for months to buy this washer. Now knowing it would not have been the top of the line, you still have a reasonable expectation that your laundry will be cleaned. Thats not the case with this washer. I have taken items out of the washer that never hit water, and still soiled. You cant make any adjustment to the water level, the agitator is very ineffective and sound as the whole thing is a strain to do a basic task. I have bought Amana in the past and had no regrets until now. That is unacceptable for misleading the public that this is a washer. It truly just an oversize hamper. If this sounds like I am not happy with this product. Then sorry to say YES I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT! When you pay $250-$300 you expect it to at the very least to clean your laundry!

6/4/2015 - The lid on my less-than-2-month-old Amana washer breaks, and I call customer service. The rep is extremely apologetic and tells me someone will be out on 6/9/2015 to fix it and that they will call the day prior to confirm. 6/8/2015 - Sadly, no call is ever received. 6/9/2015 - I call the service company to inquire as to whether anyone is coming to look at my washer. Their response was, Nope, we were given the wrong phone number by Amana, so when we couldnt reach you, we had to cancel. I then call Amana back, confirm that they do in fact have the wrong phone number, correct that issue (or so I thought) and try to get another appointment scheduled. After two hours of stubborn resistance, I manage to get an appointment scheduled for 6/10/2015.6/10/2015 - Repairman looks at my washer, and after five minutes, pinpoints the issue and tells me hes going to need to order a part. He then says that he should have no trouble getting the part by 6/12/2015. 6/12/2015 - The day comes and goes without incident. 6/15/2015 - I call the service repair company who tells me that the part is on back order and wont be available until at least 6/30/2015. Later, I call Amana yet again, correct my phone number for the second time (see, I was getting back to that) and try to see if theres another resolution. The customer service rep I am speaking with tells me, it is what it is, and that this is the best she can do. I ask to speak to her supervisor, who I am then transferred to, who tells me that he, in fact, cannot do anything to help expedite the process either, but that someone might be calling me in 3-5 business days to let me know about the part.At this point I ask, So youve made a defective product, incorrectly recorded my information at least twice, caused me to miss one service appointment due to negligence and have yet to accept any responsibility for the situation at hand... How is this an acceptable resolution? After a pause, he says,so yeah, in like three to five business days, someone might be calling you about that part... Dumbfounded, I hung up and rage-devoured a cheeseburger to help me cope with my lack of progress, ironically spilling ketchup on my pants in the process. I might be able to at least attempt to get the stain out in somewhere around 3-5 business days.

Amana NTW4516FW3: Worst of all, it agitates as it fills!!! WHY??? WHY would it DO this???!!! This tears up your cloths!!! I have to wait till it fills, THEN put in my cloths. Limited control of water: It is supposed to auto sense but it runs in too little for some loads (I can switch it over to deep fill until the correct amount of water runs in) and WASTES MY WATER AND DETERGENT running TOO MUCH water for smaller loads; no way to stop it! Nothing you can do about it!!! :( It only RINSES on COLD! :( So I have to CANCEL the wash cycle before it rinses, and set it back on the wash cycle in order to rinse in warm or hot water!!!! :( Then I have to take out all the wet cloths until it fills or it will tear them up agitating as it fills!!!! :( Then I cancel the cycle AGAIN, and set it to a spin setting after if rinses, as this is the fastest. (The spin it would normally do on the wash cycle is slower and shorter... cloths too wet when done.) TRIED TO CALL AMANA AND ASK WHY THE WASHER AGITATES WITH ONE OR TWO INCHES OF WATER IN IT AS IT FILLS!!!! They were abrupt and could offer no way I could contact or address the engineers who make this washer.

We called the repairman who re-calibrated it, so supposedly it would work properly. He no sooner left when the red lock lid button started blinking. It was off-cycle again. It still does not fill. It has been over 2 months now that I have went without my washer. It isnt even a year old yet. First time I called Amana it was a runaround. The person I talked to was very rude, didnt even send over my information to IAM Appliance in Piqua, Ohio. So I had taken the day off work to wait for someone. When they didnt show, I called IAM and asked why no one showed. They said they didnt have any information that they were supposed to be out. So I called back to Amana and the guy I talked to was very rude and said, Looks like it wasnt sent over. So he told me I had to call another place, that he couldnt call them, I had to. So I called and no answer so I called back to Amana and they again was very rude. So finally they send my information over to IAM appliance. A week later, on Tuesday a tech came out. He looked at my washer after I had already explained what was wrong, it was the lid lock not locking, it would fill and that was it. So the next Tuesday, he came out and ordered a lid lock, the board, and another part all the parts worked but the lid lock. So here is to another week of waiting. Came out again that following Tuesday that lid lock didnt work. Each time he came out something didnt work. Then the board didnt work the new one he had replaced. This happened for over a month. So I called corporate. Talked to a lady last Monday. She said she would send me a new washer. Got my new washer today. They told me I was getting a Whirlpool but I go another Amana same model number. They took the old washer today and this washer doesnt work, it doesnt wash clothes. It fills the drum doesnt wash clothes or spin, and the lid lock works but when finished the clothes are dripping wet. So this is another lost. I will not recommended Amana or Whirlpool to anyone. Since they have been around for a while now I figured they would be a great appliance. Guess not. So now Im out of a washer and here goes to washing my clothes in the tub again!! Very unhappy!! DO NOT BUY AMANA.
