When I moved in to this new house one of the first things I changed was the air conditioning. The I found here was not working right so the cooling couldn’t go below 770. Now I have Heil and everything is working perfect. It’s been 7 months since I got it and so far am pleased with its functionality. It hasn’t given me any headaches. I read reviews about the air conditioner breaking down or malfunctioning in some way after 3 months. I guess I got a sweet deal from Heil.

We've been pleased with our Goodman heat and air units, at 16 years old both air and heat run efficiently. We have maintained them by having a professional come in, replace any parts needed, tweak the units. We keep the filters changed about 4 times a year. Before we turn on the A/C we clean the outside unit of any debris, our HVAC tech also cleans it. Overall we are pleased.

We replaced our old air conditioner in 2015 by a Carrier unit. The blower motor failed and was changed last year (2017). The motor was under warranty at a cost of $450.00. Again this year the blower motor failed and was again replaced at a cost of $420.00. I took the issue with Carrier and was offered no compensation. Stay away from this product.

Just had a new XV18 air conditioner installed with all the bell & whistles. But when the fan is in continuous run mode it shuts off every time the AC comes on. So at night when the ac has to cool the house 1 degree the fan shuts off. The house goes quiet while cooling, then the fan comes back on, that is not the definition of continuous. Have contacted Trane many times asking if this is how the system operates or is there a problem. Neither Trane nor the dealer that installed the unit have been able to answer this simple question in 2 weeks. Trane just tells me to call the installer, and since the installer cannot answer the question I do not understand why it is so hard for Trane to get me to the right person at the company that knows the equipment. There are other issues with the unit in regards to noise & vibration in the wall, but I do not want the installer to put any more work into the unit if we cannot solve the fan issue. So now everything is on hold and I am not getting an answer. Has anyone else had this problem? If Trane cannot help with a basic question I am concerned about if they will back the equipment. Seems once you have it the problem is yours not theirs. Bad customer support & service.

So, like you, I researched and YouTubed every A/C and type. Dual hose was a MUST for large rooms in area of the US where it gets extremely hot. This model I had to wait a couple months to finally be back in stock on every website but I knew I needed the Best Buy Warranty, especially in something this expensive. This thing happens to break, like other models do, I can take it right back to the store and get another one. So, I did curbside pickup and brought this home over 3 weeks ago. I live in the High Desert of a California, that place you pass with Tumbleweeds, on your way to Vegas. It gets up to 120, some days during our worst summers. Well, so far our hottest day while I had this unit was 107 degrees. It kept my almost 600 square foot room nice and COLD, it even turns itself off when it reaches your desired temperature. It has no problem keeping this large room cool and staying that way on the hottest of days and seems to do so with ease; so I'm extremely happy about this purchase. This was expensive and works as good as the glowing reviews say! And if it takes a poop on me for whatever reason I'll use my warranty and get another one, so the peace of mind with Best Buy Geek Squad added warranty makes me feel safe with my purchase and getting years of use out of this Whynter AC. If you had any doubts, just do it, it's awesome. Oh and I normally don't write reviews- so yes, these are my own thoughts, no I'm not sponsored, or receiving deals, discounts, or compensation for my review. (I wish LOL.)

We purchased a large new home 5 years ago with 4 top of the line Carrier Infinity systems installed by a very large AC company with a very good reputation. We were never informed that you must register Carrier products within 90 days to receive the advertised 10 year warranty. I called about a year after install and thought it would be an easy adjustment for them to give us the full warranty but I was told by one agent and then her supervisor that they each always register their own personal products within the required time and I should learn to do the same. I wasn't amused by their advise. They then only were willing to give the minimum 5 year parts only warranty and replaced multiple air handler blower motors, control boards, temp sensors, controls, condenser unit fan motors and more parts without paying any labor. Fortunately due to having 4 units, when one downstairs unit goes out the cool air from upstairs keeps it very comfortable in our main area of the house, and if you didn't check the thermostat you would never know one was out. Our main area unit has been out for the last 6 months. On three separate service trips to repair the unit, it would go back out between a few hours to the next day. I was unsure when our 5 year warranty was over and as it turns out we had a tech back 4 days after the expiration, and on this trip another condenser fan motor was bad. Carrier Infinity units use a very high dollar motor, the book installed price without warranty is about $1400. I called Carrier and asked about a goodwill extension on that motor but was informed that as it may have been out while under warranty, it is now a few days past the expiration so it is not covered. These failures were not due to poor installation as there are 4 units all with different problems and were installed by a company that Carrier actually recommends as a top installer and they were as well as other companies were back to try to do many repairs. This seems to be a common Carrier experience. I read comments from Carrier dealers defending the product trying to deflect criticism on other installers but that's not realistic. I hope my experience helps others decide on a purchase and remember that even if they gave a 10 year warranty, you still pay for the labor to repair unreliable equipment.

I'm a HVAC Tech that has been installing and repairing equipment for 29 yrs. When buying a new HVAC unit, it's like buying a car. You never know when you're going to get a lemon. If I have problems with repairing a Trane unit, the only option that I have is to call Trane Tech support. In 29 yrs, I have called them a handful of times and never have I talked to Tech support. I have left messages and in 1 case they have called back 2 days later when I wasn't in front of the system to check what they asked me to check. I install and repair units and Trane has made the list of units that I wont sell or recommend!!!!

My new AC unit is much more efficient than my old unit. I'm using my air more often and using less electricity.

Bought a new house in June 2017 and saw that it had a Trane HVAC unit with a heat pump. I was thinking it would be like the Trane unit my dad bought 30 years ago that is still running, but it wasn't. AC worked fine from June till November when it started getting cold. Turned the heat on and the house actually got colder from the air coming out. Called the builder and filed a warranty claim. The HVAC installation company Carolina Comfort wanted to leave me without heat for 2 weeks. I called my realtor who got the builder involved and 5 days later they had the new valve to food it. Called the dealer and Trane telling them this was ridiculous and they needed to replace the unit since it was overheated from the bad valve. They said not going to happen. Fast forward to December 2018, as it got cold again and I turn the heat on it worked for one day then blew cold air cooling our house instead of heating it before I shut it off. Called Carolina comfort again and they looked at it and said the compressor failed from running last year with a bad TXV. Called Trane again and they said it's fixed, that's all they are going to do. I explained that I am not comfortable with this unit being 0 for 2 in 18 months during heat season. They said it is what it is. Next time I'll buy a carrier Lenox or even a Goodman before I ever buy a Trane unit. And if I buy a house with a Trane unit already there, I'm going to get a warranty to plan on replacing that trash. Done with buying Trane.

While Daikin's air conditioners are one of the most cost effective units in the market; in terms of running, they aren't the best choice for everyone. This is because of several factors, such as short warranty periods (unless registered), loud operation, and poor heating capabilities.
