My new KitchenAid double wall oven exploded 1 1/2 hour into the self-clean
My new KitchenAid double wall oven exploded 1 1/2 hour into the self-clean cycle. Shattered glass flew out the oven, spraying all over my kitchen and out into other rooms of the house. I couldnt get near it to shut it off, because glass shards kept recirculating in the convection oven out the vent. So I ran out to shut off the circuit breaker. I spent 2 hours cleaning up the mess. I vacuumed out, but the glass in both ovens that is stuck in gaskets surrounding doors spills out of hinges every time I open the door. I want a new oven, because I dont want glass shards in my food; and what is going to happen when I run the cycle on the bottom oven? It is a miracle no one got hurt, except for the cut on my daughters foot from a small piece I missed. I am scared to death, and I havent had an oven to cook with for my family since it happened in May. I have already spoken to my lawyer.

The glass on my KitchenAid lower wall oven shattered (it was not on at the time). When I called KitchenAid they gave me the name of their local approved repair vendor. I ordered the part and paid the high price for a replacement. When the repair technician came to replace the defective part HE COULD NOT DO SO! The replacement part had not been manufactured properly. It was defective. The subject part was the outside glass pane attached to the stainless front panel. The glass was not centered and there was a 1/8 gap on one side and the other side was attached so that the part was twice as thick as it should have been. The thickness prevented the attachment screws from connecting. Obviously, Whirlpool is not familiar with the concept of quality control. The technician took the defective part back to their shop and ordered a new replacement. That part has the same defect! I am told that the vendor has tried several other suppliers and have not been able to find a non-defective replacement part.I never had trouble with replacement parts when Hobart owned KitchenAid! The Whirlpool organization negotiated the lowest price possible with their replacement parts vendor--probably in China--who gives Whirlpool their moneys worth and KitchenAid owners now suffer with the result. IT HAS BEEN SIX WEEKS and there is not a properly manufactured replacement part in sight!!!! This oven is almost twelve years old but for the price KitchenAid charges it should last one hell of a lot longer than that! Model: KEBC208KSSO, SN: XM4400465. Sadly, the approved Whirlpool vendor who is suppose to be repairing my oven door has not bothered to call me back since the first week this fiasco began.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDS30IXBL2 - This dishwasher was purchased in May of
Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDS30IXBL2 - This dishwasher was purchased in May of 2011 by the previous owners of the home we purchased in March 2013. I started having problems in December 2014 with the dishwasher running about 10 minutes then stopping. Called Lowes who had sold the dishwasher. The previous owners had purchased a 4 year extended warranty, but Lowes wouldnt honor this because we werent the ones who bought the dishwasher. Just another rip off of getting out of honoring the warranty. Repairman came out and ran all the diagnostic codes. Came back and replaced the console. This didnt fix the problem. Called again. Still running intermittently. Sometimes completed cycle and sometimes not. He came and replaced the sensor. Meanwhile the rollers and glide holding the top rack started to break. As I see on this site, that seems to be a common problem. Called back to get repairman to come again and mentioned the rack problem and was told the company had a call back on the rack parts. So repairman came and replaced all the broken parts for the rack, ran codes again and said it might be the control. He got into the control and took off and reattached every wire and found no problems but said it might be the control. I ran the dishwasher again, and it quit after about an hour. Restarted it with no detergent in it, and it still didnt complete the cycle. Called back today and was told they could order the control, at a cost of $189. To date, I have spent $378.81 with another $200 part ordered and still have a dishwasher that doesnt work. The original dishwasher cost $773.19 so I will soon have an all redone dishwasher that may still not work. This is absolutely unforgivable. I have had about 3 dishwashers in 2 other houses in 40 years and NEVER had any of these kinds of problems. I was always led to believe Kitchen Aid was a top of the line dishwasher. This one is NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD and has almost cost its original purchase price! I want to see something done about this by the company. And I will NEVER, repeat NEVER purchase another Kitchen Aid product.

Everything on this dishwasher has been a nightmare since the first day. Like everything else we have purchased at Lowes, its pure junk. The racks have fallen apart, and the technician literally replaced every working part...and said lady you basically have a brand new dishwasher now. I had to replace every working part. Well its a year later and all of those new working parts are now no longer working. It is as if the thing is not hooked up to electricity. I will NEVER EVER buy another KitchenAid piece of junk no matter what it is. The reason I bought this in the first place was because I have a 30 year old KitchenAid mixer that runs like new. Regardless of this... I am done with KitchenAid. If only we could rate these fewer than one star!

Purchased a $7000 Kitchen Aid refrigerator 6 years ago (KSSO48FTX02) at the suggestion of the salesman at JC Perreault in Montreal. Thankfully our $25,000 purchase of appliances did not include any other Kitchen Aid products as my recent problem has been nothing short of a customer service nightmare. Our refrigerator, which other than a constant noise problem, had been relatively reliable. Last month, a constant beeping sound and on/off of a motor was observed. In addition the control panel lights were constantly flashing whenever the door was opened. For 3 days - getting through the 800 number was impossible - so I was forced to call an outside tech. Upon hearing of the problem he informed me that there was a 90% chance the motherboard was fried. I told him to come over anyhow and in 5 minutes of pressing buttons he confirmed it - AND that the replacement part was DISCONTINUED by Kitchen Aid because of the Tsunami in Japan 5 years ago! The only fix would be a black market repair and it would cost me $2000, and it might not even work! When I finally got through to customer service at KA, they confirmed that the part was no longer being made and they suggested I check out Ebay or Amazon for replacements! The nightmare continues as I try to decide whether or not to cut my losses and buy a new fridge - and remodel my kitchen in the process since this one was built-in. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANY PRODUCT MADE BY KITCHEN AID, or Whirlpool or Jenn-air.

We purchased all new appliances when we remodeled our kitchen in Aug 2017. The refrigerator quit making ice in Jan 2019. I had a repairman come out and replace the freezers fan motor. That fixed the problem, I thought, but now the ice cream in the freezer is super soft. It costs $115 for the repair guy to just come out to diagnose the problem. The last issue cost me almost $400. Now I have to have the thing looked at again. We purchased all KitchenAid appliances because we thought they were able to last with fewer repairs, guess we were wrong. The refrigerator was a major purchase but to need to call out for repairs again is unbelievable.

On February 5, 2014, had all of my appliances delivered, and the Refrigerator French door 29 cu ft, never was good from day one. On the day of when it was delivered, the delivery guy, called someone to tell them about the light being white and not blue light on the outside water dispenser. They told me that I should call service about that. Then few days later was getting moisture build up in the whole left side of the refrigerator, where had to wipe it with a towel many times. My old appliances were trouble free, only wanted stainless steel, and matching to my new kitchen appliances I bought from KitchenAid refrigerator, and Whirlpool dishwasher, microwave and stove which are all from the same manufacturer. Blue light is all other appliances, had the service man and told me that tell cant do anything about this. Besides the other problem whereas moisture in whole left side of the French door, ice gets watery where it throw out the ice cubes all stick together, water and ice dispenser on the door does not work too... This is brand new refrigerator and not what I ordered? Told the salesman at HHGREGG that wanted to match all of my appliances..

Just wanted to throw my $.02 in for what its worth. We bought a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator and have been totally dissatisfied with it right from the beginning. First, it is very loud when running. When we complained, the response was, to paraphrase, give it a few weeks, youll get used to it and you wont even notice it. That hasnt worked. Second, the ice maker is a joke. Very slow to make ice, cubes are small, and it wont keep up with the ice needs of only 2 people in the household. My recommendation is to trust the reviews and dont buy KitchenAid! Crappy products and crappier customer service!

I purchased model KDTE104ESS1 in the Spring of 2017. The motor failed after 2 years of light use. We were advised that it would be $550.00 to replace the motor. The Service Tech was surprised the motor failed so soon. After some research, I discovered that this was a known problem, so I reached out to KitchenAid to see what they could/would do (especially given the cost of the unit, its light usage, short lifespan and cost of repair). Their response was swift and simple-- they would do absolutely NOTHING! No discount for a new motor/repair, no coupon/rebate for a new KitchenAid dishwasher-- absolutely NOTHING. They are completely unwilling to stand by their product. Makes my decision easy - I will never again spend a penny on any KitchenAid product. RUN- Invest your purchasing dollars with a company willing to do the right thing and stand by its Products. I will be purchasing another dishwasher and IT WILL NOT BE KITCHENAID.

After looking at various makes and models of ovens online, we purchased/ordered our KitchenAid wall oven (KEBS107) back in August 2012, waiting for over 2 months for the actual delivery of the new oven. Over the next year and a half, we had occasional issues with the oven not heating properly - sometimes it would pre-heat quickly - sometimes it would seem to take a very long time to reach the desired temperature - especially if I was needing to change the temperature during use. After 16 months of use, the thermal fuse had to be replaced. Apparently the oven door has to be closed at ALL times, especially when broiling. Now, after two years of use, the oven is acting up once again and not heating properly. I purchased an oven thermometer to verify this. KitchenAid is going to cover this 2nd repair, even though I was told that my ESP was not currently in effect (which is another frustrating story that I wont go into). I am thinking at this point that there is a major design flaw with this appliance. Having any sort of electronic/module located just over the opening of an appliance that can get very hot was probably not a good idea. If I cant open the door of a hot oven to check on or remove the contents inside, what good is it????? This oven has been nothing but frustrating pretty much since we bought it!

Everytime you use the self-cleaning cycle in the Kitchenaid oven, it blows a fuse in the middle of the cycle and shuts down. The door locks, digital panel shuts down, and oven is inoperable. This has happened twice now and apparently from reading the internet blogs, it is a very common problem. And costs $150+ to have the fuse replaced, therefore costing the consumer $150+ to self-clean your oven! Ridiculous.

Purchased new KitchenAid Architect Series French Door Bottom freezer refrig
Purchased new KitchenAid Architect Series French Door Bottom freezer refrigerator KF1S29BBMS02 for new house. This is the top of the line unit and we were extremely happy with the look, features and functionality. After 10 months of use the unit suddenly stopped working. Freezer temperature would barely get below freezing, the top refrigeration unit would not cool below 50 degrees and no ice would be produced. Obviously disappointed, but knew that we were under warranty and the unit would be fixed at no cost to us.Calling into warranty service was not too painful, short wait time and easy phone tree. People manning the warranty service line were all very pleasant and respectful. The issue is the process. The process as I understand it based on conversations with KitchenAid warranty service is that they will exhaust all options to attempt to repair the unit and then and only then will they consider other resolutions. In our situation we are in week five of the process. Four visits to repair unit, none successful and another visit planned in 2 days, which will be the start of week six, and we are still without a working unit. They will not offer a rental unit, but if you push they may offer you some minor value to offset the cost of a rental unit. In our area the shortest rental term was one month and the cost was over $160 per month. When I brought that number to KitchenAid, they would not provide that amount so we have to spend additional money due to their faulty product. When asked how long this may go on, they stated until the KitchenAid Warranty techs decided that the unit could not be repaired. Sounds reasonable, but what it equates to is weeks and weeks of back and forth between the third party service companies and KitchenAid Warranty techs trying different things to fix the unit. With each visit taking 3-5 days to schedule or longer if parts need to be ordered. Sounds like this effort goes on until the KitchenAid Warranty tech has replaced every part possible and there is nothing else to try. Based on current trend...this could take 8-10 weeks for our situation.I understand that process is necessary to protect business interest, but this has been a very frustrating customer experience that has completely thrown me off the KitchenAid brand and any other brand owned by Whirlpool. This is both from the quality and durability of the product standpoint and especially how the company deals with unsatisfied customers. While KitchenAid wont commit to what resolution they will offer if the unit cant be repaired, my preference would be a refund so that I can buy a product that is more reliable. My advice, Bing search how many complaints against whatever model of appliance your are considering and look for models with the lowest number or less significant type complaints. Reading the complaints about the model we bought after the fact, I very much doubt we would have purchased.

My wife and I purchased this KitchenAid KUDP01DL dishwasher to replace another that was 16 years old and working just fine as part of a remodeling project. How I wish I had it back now! KitchenAid feels that if your dishwasher is 9 years old, it is junk and should be replaced. I have spent $420 in repair bills in the last 1 1/2 years, and now I will have to spend another $156 in parts - I dont think so. This dishwasher has been an electrical nightmare and Im tired of it. We purchased nine top-of-line KitchenAid built-in refrigerators for the premium units in a condo development. A circuit board failed on the first unit after 6 years. We replaced the circuit board (at significant expense) and the unit seemed to work fine... for awhile. Then, two more circuit boards failed in other units but this time circuit boards were not available, reportedly due to the tsunami in Japan. There was no support from KitchenAid or Standard TV & Appliance in Portland, OR - out of warranty they said. We finally found a company that rebuilt circuit boards (very expensive). One of those has since failed and we are awaiting another. Still no help from the dealer or KitchenAid. If you are buying a refrigerator, find another supplier and dealer.

We purchased a nearly $4000 KitchenAid refrigerator on May 22, 2019 (KPFC704FSS). Within a year (June 17, 2020, the ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator stopped cooling. During the course of the next two and a half months, a new compressor was installed. The fridge began to cool again, but no ice was being made. A new ice maker was ordered, but Whirlpool initially refused to provide it at no charge. Eventually, the company relented and a new ice maker was installed on July 16. Within days of installation of the ice maker, there was still no ice being made. After more phone calls, we were offered a voucher for a new refrigerator of any kind or a new KitchenAid fridge identical to the one we had. We agreed to a new KitchenAid refrigerator be delivered. BIG MISTAKE!After no delivery or delivery notice for three weeks, on August 17, 2020, a call was made to the appliance store to determine the delivery status of our new replacement refrigerator and we were told to call back on September 16 —perhaps by then a there would be an answer to our question of ‘when?’ Presently, there is no known delivery date; not even a known month of possible delivery. Throughout the past three months, and who knows how much longer, the appliance store has continued to do its best; however, KitchenAid/Whirlpool has failed all ‘reasonable standards’ of good corporate consumer service. Never again will a Whirlpool product be purchased by us.

We have an 18-month old KitchenAid refrigerator - high end model with the freezer on the bottom. It began to leak water that settled at the bottom of the freezer. After a time, it would freeze so much that it would eventually leak out onto the floor. We looked in the book - no help there. I found your forum and a problem just like ours (same model even). They said it turned out to be a grommet that was too small and that a new style had been developed. So we wrote to KitchenAid about this. They denied that there were any problems. After several conversations with them and a copy of one of your forum notes on this, they finally did agree to at least pay for the part. Well the appliance man came and fixed it. It was indeed the old style grommet. He said it happens all the time. We wrote to them again and asked them about paying the labor (part was about $12 and the labor is $100). No, they would not do this. Apparently, according to the repairman, this refrigerator is not the only one with this problem. This model is also sold by Maytag and some other - maybe Sears? Just slap a different name on them and they all have this problem. So buyer beware. Make sure that they check this out before you bring it home or you too will be paying the price to fix it. We really bought what we thought was a quality product (now that we are retired and didnt want to have to deal with repairs all the time). So much for that! KitchenAid support was of no help at all. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy another KitchenAid product!

After purchasing a high end dishwasher from KitchenAid, I am so disappointed in this machine. It has leaked water so long and ruined my kitchen floor to the extent it had to be replaced. The racks never stay up on the top shelf and had to be replaced three times. The dishwasher is just two years old and another leak, this time it was the motor/pump assembly to the tune of $210.00. I will never buy this brand again. I called customer service to complain and they wanted to give me a few hundred dollars discount on a new dishwasher, like I can afford another one. At any rate, it would never be this brand again when I do buy. So frustrated and so disappointed in this washer. You think you are paying more and getting a better machine, what a joke that is. Just not happy. Wish I would of read the above reviews before I had bought mine...

This refrigerator is not even 2 years old and one of the LED lights burned out. Long story short, technician could not fix it, he said you need a new fridge, say what, for a light bulb??? KitchenAid offers to replace it, oh by the way it will cost you $600.00 because it is out of warranty. I ask KitchenAid if they are for real, $600.00 for a light bulb, are you kidding me. Everything else on the fridge works but the LED lights. Poor design such that the connector pulls off the wires that are buried inside the cabinet and the modern techs do not know how to repair, therefore, need new fridge is the answer. Do not buy this fridge if you want something that lasts. Also do not bother to call KitchenAid customer service, they are no help at all. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher a year and a half ago. When I moved in the house, there was a perfectly good working dishwasher in the kitchen, only problem was it was from the 1970s. I replaced it with a sleek stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. It worked flawlessly until just after the warranty expired. First, the top shelf did not get very clean despite my efforts to clean the jets. Then the rollers of the top tray broke making it very difficult to operate the tray. I suspect this is why it is not cleaning well because the tray is misaligned. Now, the dishwasher often does not work at all. It beeps and nothing else. It even beeps if both trays are removed. KitchenAid was not helpful at all when I contacted them. Avoid!!!

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

We purchased model #KSS048QTB02 in August of 2009. This was the second 48 KitchenAid built-in we purchased along with all other high-end KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig. Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month. My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

KitchenAid® 27-Inch Single Wall Oven, Architect® Series II - I purchased this Oven October 5, 2013. It was installed October 24, 2013. On December 31, 2013 it stopped working. I called for service and they could not get to me until January 6, 2014. The serviceman came out that morning and took a look at the oven and found that the fuse had blown in it. Lucky me they did not have one in stock and they had to order one. The fuse came in on January 8, 2014 and they came out and installed it. I did not use the oven again until January 14, 2014 because of some other issues in my kitchen. January 14, 2014 I turned it on and used it to bake something. It worked fine. I walked away from it after I was done baking and came back about 45 minutes later and it had died again. It will not come back on. My guess is that it is the fuse again. I would not recommend this oven to anyone!!!!! At this rate I will have a serviceman at my house every week to repair this oven. I called a supervisor at Kitchen Aid January 16, 2014 and they want me to keep the oven and they want to extend the warranty. This will happen when some place freezes over!!!!

On March 25th 2015, our carbon monoxide detector went off. The local fire department came and they determined that the source of the carbon monoxide leak was our Kitchen Aid slide in range-oven. They supplied a report that outlined this. They shut off the propane supply and pulled range out of position and said we could not use this appliance until problem was fixed. We notified Kitchen Aid customer service on 03/26/15 (appliance under mfg warranty), and explained the situation. This issue was passed on to their safety department. The safety department did not respond to us until 03/27, and they explained that they needed a carbon monoxide meter to service our appliance, which they did not have available. We have been in contact with them every day since the incident happened, and we still do not have an appointment from service department to resolve our issue. The excuse everyday is that they are waiting for carbon monoxide meter to come back to them from the field to send to our local appliance repair center, and in turn to come to our home. This is not acceptable, and we need to help, now, to resolve this issue.

I purchased this model in March and had it for four weeks when the freezer dipped down to zero degrees and the refrigerator went up to 65 degrees. The store where I bought it immediately exchanged it. In less than a month the freezer in the new refrigerator went down to 6 degrees. Someone came to replace a part. It was defrosted and plugged in again but has not gone past 6 degrees. I have lost a lot of money in food and KitchenAid will not reimburse. The store where I bought this piece of junk is replacing it with an LG.

We have had a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDI01FLBL3) for over six years now. We purchased this dishwasher so we could mount a cabinet panel on the front to match the kitchen cabinets. After just one year, the plastic parts in the door spring assembly broke and the door came crashing down. Customer service told me that the parts would not be under warranty. After several hours of talking to different departments, I finally received the parts at no cost. Less than two years later, the same parts broke again and the door came crashing down. I talked to several technicians at KitchenAid stating that this was a design flaw. They said it was more than likely due to the panel I had installed on the front of the dishwasher being too heavy. I removed it and took it back to the cabinet shop. It was one pound under the recommended weight. I paid $100 to remove another two pounds of wood from it before reinstalling it along with new plastic door parts (which I had to pay for this time). The same parts have broken two more times in the past three years. I have had the cabinet company install removable panels in the cabinets on both sides of the dishwasher for easier access to replace the broken plastic parts. Now, the door latch will not hold the door closed. I called customer service for replacement parts. It was going to be over $100 for parts and shipping! They stated that there was nothing wrong with the original design but they now have redesigned the original parts. This was the same story I got for the plastic door spring assembly parts! Between the door parts, cabinet work and now the latch, Im now going to buy another dishwasher. It will not be a KitchenAid ever!

I echo what others have posted about Kitchenaids KFIS29 french door refrigerator - a total disappointment, buyers remorse, and Whirlpool must spend a lot of time and money making sure the people who answer the phone at their Customer experience Center are extremely polite while offering no solutions. From date of installation, Aug. 2013, the fridge never kept beverages and food in the upper unit cold, regardless of temp setting, the freezer simply could not keep items frozen, and the unit is loud. I chalked this off to the ill effects of being energy efficient. In the summer of 2014 I placed my first service call because the ice maker stopped making ice (never made much to begin with), the already high noise levels had increased, and the upper unit would not get below 43 degrees. When the repairman arrived, there was nothing I could tell him about the unit that he was not already very aware of. I was told I needed the kit and naturally the kit had to be ordered and I was told I had to call a special number at Whirlpool and order the kit. What an ordeal that was. In the mean time, the fridge started making a very loud sound like an impact hammer. Repairman can back out and found a huge amount of ice build up on the evaporator. The fan blades were hitting the ice causing the noise. Ice removed, problem solved, at least for a while. A few days later the the freezer was frosting up so another call to the repairman. The freezer door gasket was faulty and had to be corrected. Finally, the parts needed to fix the ice maker situation arrived. The kit was to correct the issue with low ice production, frost build up between ice maker and rear of the fridge, and to correct the problem with water dripping down and onto the evaporator coils and freezing. The control panel and a couple of other parts were also replaced. All good? Not exactly. The fridge still was not cooling, water was leaking from ice bin, and the noise level was still very high. Trying to get this thing fixed within warranty period, I call for service once again. The repairman and Whirlpool tech center ran tests and determined I needed a new evaporator and several other parts related to the cooling system. I called the Customer experience Center and requested a new unit. I was politely told that I had not had enough problems to warrant a replacement and that as long as the unit was + or - 5 degrees of the recommended temp settings (37 upper / 0 freezer) it was considered acceptable. Do not know about you but 43 or higher degree milk is not good and ice cream is suppose to melt after you take it out of the freezer. I was told by a Supervisor that since I had experienced some problems with the unit they would extend my factory warranty for six months. I was told if the parts on order did not correct the issues we could talk about a replacement then. OK, all the parts came in and were installed. Things appeared to be good for about two months except for the fact that around 37 degrees is as cold as the upper unit appears to be able to do, 34 would be my preference. In mid Oct 2014 I noticed low ice production, the noise level increasing, water dripping from the ice bin again, and there is frost building up again between the ice maker and back of the fridge again. I called the Customer experience Center to discuss replacement. I was told that since it had been more than 30 days since the repairs I would have to have a repairmen come out and and get on a call with tech support and diagnose the problem and oh, by the way, the unit is no longer under factory warranty. I advised that I had been told and assured that my factory warranty had been extended for 6 months. I was basically told that I was not told that and it would be impossible for that to occur. When I provided the name and date that I was told the warranty was extended I was told there was no one there by that name. It should be noted that only two people live in the house and thus it is not like the fridge is in a constant state of opening and closing and so on. To sum up, I have had to take off work 7 times for the fridge to be looked at and actual repairs to be made. I have absolutely no confidence that any further repairs will produce long lasting results. Looking at the dates of comments about the KFIS29, it appears no changes have been made to the fridge since people are reporting the same problems on units recently purchased as people who purchased them a year or more ago have experienced. If you are looking for a french door fridge you might want to not have this one on your short list.

This refrigerator is just over 1 year old and it has stopped cooling 5 times. It is a defect that KitchenAid is aware of and they arent doing anything to fix it. They have an internal service bulletin on this issue. They send a repairman out and he replaces a part and 2 months later it stops cooling due to ice build up behind cold cut/vegetable drawer. They continue to make different repairs until your warranty is expired, then you are out of luck. KitchenAid knows they have a bad product. They dont have a permanent solution, yet they continue to sell this model. What kind of company does this? How do they get away with it? AN ATTORNEY NEEDS TO FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT! Maybe that will get KitchenAids attention.

We did a gut rehab kitchen remodel in 2012. Consumer Reports magazine point
We did a gut rehab kitchen remodel in 2012. Consumer Reports magazine pointed us to the best refrigerator and other appliances (virtually all KitchenAid). Everything (layout, space, ice maker and filtered water) was great with the refrigerator for 3 years. In late August, 2015 we started seeing water dripping from the freezer door onto the floor. Fortunately not hardwood flooring, but wooden cabinet enclosure got a bit wet and is damaged. Bottom line - after a couple of hopeful attempts assuming it might be the ice maker or the high humidity, the problem persisted and we called the dealer for repair. I asked the tech if hes seen this problem and he honestly answered Yes, a lot. He explained that the part to fix it would be free of charge, and that I would need to pay $164 for the service call. To the dealers credit, I was told on the phone that the minimum for a service call is $164. With this fresh info from the tech whos working on the refrigerator real time, things recalibrate.... If a manufacturer has a lot of the same problem happening, the product should be recalled and owners notified. From there, repairs should be gratis. While the tech was still at the house, I googled the problem and see many youtube videos and write ups about this problem which is a small black rubber check valve that gunks up and then backs up water into the freezer. The floor of the freezer becomes a mini skating rink, and when theres no room left for water down there, it leaks out the front of the freezer. I called the dealer while the tech was still at the house and plead my case. They did call back and agreed to pick up half of the service call. They tried KitchenAid and were unsuccessful. A couple days later, I called KitchenAids large appliance customer service and they stuck to their guns. The rep gave me the usual apology said theres nothing he could do. I asked for his supervisor. I waited a few minutes and finally spoke to a woman who listened, said sorry, and then when I asked for her manager, she refused to pass me up the line saying that she was as far as I was going to take this. $82 isnt the issue. Customer service or lack thereof, and a corporate decision to let the consumers be guinea pigs to figure this wet mess out for themselves is what frosts me. I wonder how long before I have a wet floor beneath the freezer again. Consumer Reports or not, Im done with KitchenAid, its products, and its affiliated companies.

I have a Kitchen Aid double oven, which is 2 years old. During the self-cleaning cycle, the glass door exploded, and glass covered the kitchen floor, and was in all vents. Just hours earlier, my 2 year old grandson was playing on the floor in the kitchen. I immediately checked online, to see if anyone had experienced the same thing, and found that I was not the only one. I called Kitchen Aid to see if they would help me with the repair, since I felt it was a safety issue, and Kitchen Aid should stand behind their products. The customer service representative informed me the company felt this was not a safety issue, and that no one had complained about this before. Kitchen Aid is not being honest with the consumers, and should be held accountable. It has been two weeks, and I am still attempting to find someone qualified who can do the repair. Will it take someones child or grandchild, sustaining critical injury, to mandate Kitchen Aid to redesign their oven doors? Is there any redress for the consumer?

Pretty much everything was covered, ad nauseam, in this blog. New house, new appliances - the repairman was here three times because our $7,000 SXS KitchenAid fridge/freezer (Model: Kss048FTX03) was not cooling. The repairman said the first time he was here that he installed the part that would solve the problem. Well, he will be back in 4-5 days with another part. It seems that the wall between the fridge and the freezer builds up ice that prevents cooling in the refrigerator. At least, that is what I am told. I was also told that he is very frequently called out to repair this issue.I mainly bought this product because we wanted to install custom door overlays to match our cabinets and a large unit. Not a lot is available in Hawaii and we were able to order this from Lowes. We are so sorry we did. Im glad that I purchased extended warranties on all appliances and am real glad that only two of them are KitchenAid! We, too, have lost all our food twice, not to mention the hassle of removing everything together with the thaw out and order process for parts. Should we have a class action here? We shall see. Im glad I found this site. My husband is a litigation lawyer with just such experience, so I may be back in touch with everyone when the next repair fails!

This is quick, easy, and short. I purchased a new KitchenAid side by side
This is quick, easy, and short. I purchased a new KitchenAid side by side in March of 2011. One month later, it stopped cooling. As a service tech, I had already tested and found that the start relay and overload were bad because the compressor was about to take a dump. I called for service which took about a week to arrange. When the service tech arrived, he replaced the relay and overload without testing the compressor. I asked him if that was common practice which I knew wasnt. He replied that it was a common problem and it wasnt necessary to test the compressor and everything should be fine. Little did he know about my abilities. Knowing KitchenAids reputation, I was fully prepared on how to deal with the situation and didnt want or need to have to go through what so many others had to do. Also knowing that the compressor only had a limited life of maybe a week before it quit completely, I first purchased a used old refrigerator for $50.00 to get me by just in case. In about 8 days, the problem with the original fridge returned now even worse. Then, I went to the same store I bought the original KitchenAid. I purchased the same unit on my credit card for over $2,600. Foreseeing what was impending doom for the original fridge, I moved it out of site and had the new one delivered. The next day, I canceled the credit card transaction for the new fridge and called the store to advise them to come and get the fridge. What they didnt know is I exchanged the old fridge with the new one and even switched the ID tags that have the serial number. The next day, the store came to get the fridge not knowing they got the old one broken back in exchange. Ironically, no one had a clue nor did they even check. So, I ended up with a working new refrigerator. And I didnt have to deal with poor service not only from the store, KitchenAid reps, or a service provider that doesnt have a clue on how to repair these products. In the end, I not only now have a good working and new refrigerator, but the old one I bought as a stand by for $50 was cleaned up and completely checked out, then sold for $150.00.

Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

I purchased $12,000 in appliances a year ago during a remodel of my existing kitchen. Since day one, the commercial gas stove has been a problem. I had more than five repairs and every time, it would start something new to go wrong. One afternoon, I thought I smelled smoke and when I turned around, the entire electronic portion of the stove was on fire. After extinguishing the fire, I called the distributor and was told Whirlpool will replace the stove immediately and we will cover the expense of the installation. That was seven weeks ago, no stove, so phone call from Whirlpool, no reciprocation for my patience. Yesterday, I was told that it is probably back-ordered. ** Whirlpool, my house could have burned down if I had not been there and yet seven weeks later, I am still waiting? Never again will I buy another Whirlpool product and especially KitchenAid. Im still without a stove in a $50K remodeling job. I have called an attorney so dont bother with a phone call.

Our stainless steel, French door, KitchenAid refrigerator is a year old. The ice cube maker stopped working, so we had to have a service person come out. The diagnosis is that the ice maker broke, due to ice build-up. The part is under warranty, but the first service charge is $189.00 and they have to come again after the part is ordered. Our KitchenAid Wine Cooler is in its sixth year and stopped cooling this week. With most refrigeration this age you automatically assume it is just a premature leak of the Freon/coolant which is bad enough. However, the repairman (his trip cost $85 for the bad news) reported it was the evaporator that failed and the parts are already out of production/not available and therefore, the unit will have to be replaced. Whirlpool which owns KitchenAid confirmed the part is not available and that there was nothing they could do for us. Since we would have to replace it with another KitchenAid unit for reasons of fit and appearance, one would think they might do something monetarily for the consumer. Ironically last evening at a New Year Eves party we heard a very similar story involving a failed KitchenAid refrigerator that was only in its third warranty year. KitchenAid/Whirlpool should not be getting away with this fraud-- no consumer expects to junk a relatively new appliance because it breaks. When the class action lawsuit happens, Whirlpool will wish they had done right by their customers.

This has happened twice, with the last time two wheels fell on to the heating element and burned up. A week later the burnt smell is still in the machine. Whirlpool, who makes this, said this is not considered a hazard because even though it burned up the plastic wheel, it did not cause a fire. A ridiculous answer! Bought this range 3 1/2 years ago and it worked fine until last Friday when it exploded in my face, burning my forearm. Shards of the glass top hit me in the face drawing blood. Fortunately, nothing in the kitchen caught fire and I didnt lose an eye. After two phone calls and more than an hour on the phone with two KitchenAid representatives, they declined to have a repair person come out to evaluate the damage and make a determination of whether it should be replaced or not. After I called around to find someone who could replace the product at our own expense, we found out that KitchenAid does not pay service people for warranty work so nobody in our area would come out to see it unless we paid them ourselves--which we are now going to do.From close examination of the damage, our best guess is there was an internal gas leak within the unit that ignited by the burners ignition spark as I began to prepare a meal, causing an explosion that burned my arm and shattered the glass top, sending shards of glass more than 30 feet. Please keep your family safe! Do not purchase this dangerous product. And, consider avoiding all KitchenAid products if you want them to deal fairly with you. We will take our business elsewhere.

We purchased this KitchenAid Household Ref. from Lowes. 4 1/2 months of owning it there started a loud clicking noise from the back of the unit, ice built up in the veggie drawer that it couldnt shut, and water from the left side of the ref. dripping down into the two shelving parts. Once the door is open along the way the water runs out onto my floor. On the way to close MORE water runs onto the floor and then down the front of the freezer that is on the bottom. Since the issue we have had KitchenAids preferred service AAA out of Howell MI come out for 3 different service calls. Each time I am told, The problem is fixed and you will have no more water leaking. I have white water stains in my trays and the stain on the front of the ref. due to the leaks and sitting water. After calling again today because it is STILL leaking I spoke with Melinda (Customer Service) with all she could offer me was at first a service call at my cost then returned with a no cost, I spoke to Tim (Supervisor for KitchenAid Tennessee office) who explained there was not a thing anyone could to but another service call. Who is going to pay for ANOTHER day off of work? This will be the 4th time I have had to take a day off of work for repairs to this refrigerator. A consumer should NOT have to clean up a water mess every time the unit is opened and the water streak down the front is not appealing. This is obviously an issue with the unit. I asked for the unit to be exchanged with the SAME unit and I was told that You would be eligible for a replacement at a discounted price. Are you serious? I already paid the full price for this unit.Something has to be done to not allow consumers to be buying nonworking items and costing more than the unit itself. I have bought many KitchenAid items and I will never buy again since this incident. The do not stand by the product but keep sending service people who either cant fix the problem or the problem is simply NOT fixable.

Takes another 10 days to come back with the new board and installs it and leaves. Nothing changed so I called back and then took another week to come back to test. Admits it’s the thermostat and says will order the part. 3 weeks after still no part and just fake promises, they are working on getting a thermostat. 5 weeks no working fridge and no sign of it being fixed or compensated for it or even replacement fridge. A realtor from Ariz posted her problem with the same circumstances; same circuit board part number (W10121049 and substitute board 10219462. She said her husband had experience with soldering and circuit boards and was able to repair their refrigerator with a $5 capacitor, purchased at Radio Shack. She said she had found out these boards had defective capacitors manufactured in South Korea. Sure enough, my repairman showed me the rounded top of the blown out capacitor on my circuit board... We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher from Western Appliance in 2010. Paid $754.00 for it. Three years later, it died. I didnt pay up for extended warranty and was later told that just a service call would start at $120.00 for a technician to show up at my door step. Wow. This dishwasher started having problems with the lower rack rollers. They fell off and got melted in the drying element, $80.00 to replace. Then later, the upper rack had a problem with the attachments for it.A few months later, it popped the 20-amp breaker at fuse panel. I reset the panel and it worked for another week. The last straw was it just died. All it would do would have a blinking clean light on the interface panel. We used this appliance once a day for a family of 4. One would think that it would last longer than 3 years. To sum it up, looks nice but what a **. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID PRODUCT. YOU WILL REGRET IT IN THE LONG RUN. Tonight at 5:45 pm the inside glass of my KitchenAid Superba built-in electric convection single oven exploded with such force that the glass shot across my entire kitchen and into my dining room. I had the oven on and was baking fish at the time. Luckily, my baby had just moved from her usual place on the mat in the kitchen or else she would have been utterly disfigured and seriously injured by the explosion of glass. I immediately phoned KitchenAid and they said they could send a technician on Thursday, January 5, 2012. The technician has just phoned to say he would just replace the glass and that this happens 100s of time a week and there is no guarantee that it wont happen again. When I asked for some certainty that the oven would be safe, he said he wasnt the designer and it wasnt his role to tell me that the oven would be safe in the future, then he said he refused to do business with me and put down the phone. I am appalled. We escaped lithely this time, but there is no way I am prepared to let it happen again. I think everyone should know how unsafe these ovens are. KitchenAid needs to withdraw these ovens from sale and, for me, they need to return my money so I can go in search of a different oven. I will once again be phoning KitchenAid to find out what they will do about the situation. I phoned Trail Appliance Edmonton South but they said their technician will phone tomorrow. They, however, did not seem to realize how serious the situation is. Does a child or someone has to be seriously hurt before something happens to have this oven removed from sales?

We purchased KitchenAid KUDS30IVWH3 a year and a half ago from Lowe’s. All new dishwashers have a new connector that hooks the water supply to dishwasher. It simply screws onto a plastic piece. Over time this connector simply came loose. It flooded our kitchen and laundry room which has been three months of restoration - new floors, rebuilt cabinets, etc. And it cost many thousands of dollars for the insurance company. It has been a serious problem. The plumber said these new connectors are not safe and he gets nervous every time he installs one. He said they cannot be refit with a different connector. I am the second person he has had with major flooding in the home due to the new connectors. He said the European dishwashers still have the old brass connectors.

We bought our house in 2004 and immediately started anew with appliances, granite etc., in our kitchen. I chose KitchenAid because I owned it years ago and had great success. We bought the most expensive dishwasher, microwave, slide-in stove and trash compactor available, thinking it would last. As you know, this stuff isnt inexpensive. We purchased the convection slide-in stove (KESC308LSS0), which died on Thanksgiving Day amid turkey cooking. A halogen microwave, which died six months ago and had to be replaced with a convection microwave that sounded like a bucket of bolts until repair, arrived under warranty one month later. The dishwasher has plastic tabs in it on the slider for the rack that break and fall into the motor. We repaired this ourselves twice with new motors and rack sliders, which now have been redesigned without the plastic tabs. We needed a part for the stove but it is discontinued, so we will have to live without it. Thankfully it is just cosmetic. We await a new control board for the oven as we speak and if we are lucky, it will work; if not, we will have to pay someone to fix it. My point is 8-year shelf life? Discontinued parts? I will never buy KitchenAid again. If we had had to pay someone to fix all this stuff, it would have been very expensive. I am really disappointed.

We work with many Architects and homeowners that demand quality. When time came to remodel my own home, I wanted to go with the best appliances that we could afford at the time and the ones that offered the most value. Our research led us to KitchenAid appliances. Since the time we installed KitchenAid dishwasher, range, and microwave, all have been replaced except the range. With spending as much money on the range as we did, it was hard to just throw it away. When I mention my concerns and problems at the NAHB shows, the KitchenAid sales reps state that was the old KitchenAid, we did have problems with them, but things have changed since then.My point is if youre selling your product as best value, and a high-end product, you earn that title not just display it. You dont acknowledge that you had a problem then sweep it under the rug. You earn it by standing behind your product. I write this as I decide to throw another $500 at the repair of this stove or throw in the towel. Did I mention that we too had to turn our electric breaker off because the stove top would not turn off, then another time it would come on without turning the knobs. If this had happened to one of our projects, the range would have been removed immediately regardless of price and replaced with a manufactured product that cares for its customers.

I own 4 KitchenAid appliances, all 7 years old and all have needed repair. The microwave door spring broke, as well as the dishwasher door spring after the warranty. The refrigerator needed the entire electronic board and fan replacement, of course after the warranty. Lastly, the oven. But it was repaired while under warranty. We are 2 adults, no children and live in this home 6 months a year. I asked KitchenAid if there was a recall. The answer was no! So, I am not very happy about KitchenAid appliances and will not recommend or ever purchase Whirlpool products again. Not happy to say the least.

No cycle control and dishes do not get that clean. I am very unhappy with all kitchen aid appliances and will not purchase anything from them again. Our experience with Kitchen Aid appliances has never been good. They cost a great deal to maintain since they constantly break and require repair.

I purchased this stove because it had a very large oven and I bake. Two weeks after installation I realized when I leaned up to get something from the cabinet above the stove I turned on burners, sometimes just enough for a gas leak and sometimes enough to burn my arm. First problem with design. A month later at Thanksgiving the turkey was in the oven and my grandson touched a knob with his arm and actually burned it. Thats how hot the knob. I see were due to a vent directly below them. Second design flaw.Later that afternoon. We realized the turkey wasnt getting done. Oven turned off by itself. Luckily I have a second oven. Very nice competent repairman (outsourced) checked the temperature of the knobs and they came in two degrees under government top number. He replaced an oven valve. This valve was replaced three times before the oven would function without failing. I took these safety and oven problems up with KitchenAid only to be told they were within government standards and be glad I bought a warrant for the oven. Cold, disrespectful and dismissive people. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID products.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side fridge from Sears ten months ago. I have since had it serviced for four times and Im now going on my fifth. This time around, I will have replaced nearly every part in the fridge. My complaint is not only with regards to the condition of the product and Sears failure to take responsibility for it (not to mention all the food Ive had to throw out), but the fact the Sears service department makes it extremely difficult to get them to come out in a timely matter.Last time we checked our fridge, it was 60 degrees. According to Sears, it would be a minimum of one week before they could come out and repair the fridge, even though our last repair guy had the part needed to fix the fridge shipped directly to our home. The part is currently sitting on our kitchen counter. I guess my question is, is there a lemon law that protects my family from Sears and the obviously faulty item that they sold us? If so, I would like this fridge replaced. Im very much considering contacting an attorney. What are your thoughts?

Service just left and stated how ridiculously expensive the parts. We need a power supply board $387. And he may have to replace some or all of the LEDs at $77 each. This is absolutely ridiculous. It seems to be a common problem with LEDs in a cold environment. We could be looking at a bill of over $1000 for lighting on a $2,500 2 to refrigerator.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator 2 years ago. The quality is amazingly poor. The flange on both crisper drawers broke during the first year. KitchenAid was kind enough to send replacements. Unfortunately they are the same design/same materials. Next the housing that covers the water filter broke off during the first filter change. Now, at two years, we have the plugged defroster drain that seems ubiquitous with these refrigerators. We shut the refrigerator off for a day with a small space heater directed at the drain in an attempt to thaw the thing out. No luck. Water still leaks down into the bottom of the freezer and eventually drains onto the floor. Weve had more problems with this unit than with every other refrigerator weve owned over the past 40 years - combined. Such a disappointment. KitchenAid use to make a quality product. Now their Kitchen products need constant Aid.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher new in 2012. In just 3 years it has broke several times. First 4 times it was the upper rack wheel assembly. Plastic wheel retainer clip broke ($22 each piece online-easy to install). Using the broken racks I made a new and improved replacement wheel retainer. I drilled a hole through the piece and added a stainless steel screw and washer. Now when it breaks again next week, I will have a permanent fix for it. Most recently the touchpad control panel also has to be replaced on the unit. I called customer service and they said I had to have a licensed tech diagnose it. Luckily the touchpad is covered under the 2nd to 5th year warranty but I have to pay for labor ($100). I bought this brand for its reliability and as a loyal customer, I will definitely look elsewhere the next time it breaks. I shouldnt have to pay repair service for something under warranty. I have a house in New Jersey that was affected by Sandy. When installing the new kitchen I decided to buy KitchenAid appliances since I had them in my house in Florida and loved them. WHAT A MISTAKE!! I have had the range serviced 4 times now for the same problem (oven not lighting). It was recommended by the store where I bought the range that I should call Whirlpool and request a replacement. The answer I got from Whirlpool was that the warranty does not cover replacement only repairs. So keep in mind when buying KitchenAid that if you get a lemon like I did, you are going to be stuck with it and just keep getting service until your warranty expires. Also, once you get into the extended warranty period (if you still own it by then), you may have more issues. I havent reached that point yet and dont think I will. Let me begin by saying that when my husband and I built our home 8 years ago, we researched and thought Kitchen Aid was the best product and value for our budget. We have had nothing but trouble with all three of the appliances we bought from Sears that were Kitchen Aid! Our Kitchen Aid stainless steel Dishwasher that we paid entirely too much money for worked for about 3 years and then we had to replace several parts on it. It lasted about another 3 years and we finally decided to throw it away and purchase the cheapest Kenmore dishwasher we could find! It has worked perfect! When our stainless steel Kitchen Aid fridge was 7 years old, the ice maker went out... We have yet to get it replaced! Our stainless steel Kitchen Aid double oven has been giving us problems for about 2 years when it was 7 years also! The bottom oven went out on us this past Easter so we have only the top oven working... So now Christmas Eve, when I preheated the top oven to cook my Christmas Eve dinner, the oven began to smoke at 240 degrees! Oh my goodness....whose appliances go out on major holidays! We paid a ridiculously large amount ($10,000.00) for all 3 of the appliances and are so disappointed that now we have to either pay a repair man to fix our double or just go ahead and buy a cheap double oven. I will never buy or suggest anyone buy Kitchen Aid for sure!

The fridge started leaking at the top. I paid $115 from a repairman to be told this is a known defect for this fridge (air leak at the top). So KitchenAid should offer free repair for anyone who this affects. They are now made differently, so why should I be stuck with a lemon? I am so mad right now, repairing it is out of the question as I was quote $650. Also if this is a known defect, why didnt KitchenAid alert us? I could have saved $115 by not having a repairman out to our house. The solution for this is to turn the water off to our fridge and not having a water or ice maker, which is half the reason we bought the fridge. Stay away from this entire brand. This is the second review I am writing about this oven. The first review I wrote was a couple weeks after it was installed and I gave it 5 stars. Its a beautiful oven. The stovetop/burners work great. The top oven is the one I use the most and at first it was fine, but after about a month, I noticed the blue interior is peeling off the base plate on the top oven and black splotches started appearing. I removed the base plate and tried to clean it but there wasnt anything on it. The blue was just disappearing in places. I took the oven plate back to the store I bought it at and they ordered a new one.The second plate started doing the same thing after only a couple of weeks. The blue coating is clearly not perfected and I really wonder if it is releasing chemicals or flaking off into the food. I cannot recommend this to anyone. KitchenAid - you need to do more testing before you release products into the market. I am a product developer - I know when something hasnt been tested appropriately. Im waiting for my third base plate to arrive but I am likely going back to the store to tell them to replace the oven. My preference would be to replace it with a different brand, but the over the oven microwave that a purchased at the same time is also KitchenAid brand (ut-oh).

I purchased the KitchenAid refrigerator Model Number KS3C23C8EYY02 after building a new home which required new appliances. The date of purchase was May 2014. Today is April 5, 2016. Several months after purchase ice machine didnt work. This was summer 2014. After several visits from tech, it was fixed. Now, ice accumulating in my refrigerator and the fan is continuous on sounding like a twin engine in the kitchen. Tech said I needed a sensor. For a new refrigerator and may I say it was an NOT inexpensive appliance, I very discouraged by the quality. My warning to future buyers... Stick to another manufacturer or if you insist on purchasing, be sure to purchase extended warranty.

Well for the send time our expensive KitchenAid Built-in Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer Failed. It is almost 10 years old. The refrigerator repairmen from Judd and Black Electric arrived about 12:00 and fussed around with our fridge for an hour. In my opinion they didnt have a clue really and ** thought they were rude. At the end of the process they said the main control module was out, KitchenAid didnt make the part, it wasnt available anymore and they couldnt fix the KitchenAid KSSC48QMS01 side by side built in refrigerator. Period. They said that Core Centric could rebuild the control board but they didnt offer to take it out or send it in to Core Centric. The entire afternoon I researched the issue and learned that there are several companies that will rebuild the control board for about $100, found a YouTube Video on how to remove it and learned the serial number (W10219463-119) of the offending part. I will NEVER buy a KichenAid product again.

We Spent $8000 on a built In KitchenAid refrigerator (just like so many others here) and It lasted less than 5 years. We have had the control board rebuilt 4 times now, and it still continues to fail. KItchenAid is criminal in the fact that they do not post bad product reviews. We received an email saying that our review did not meet the guidelines. I guess they mean that it was HONEST.. we have such anger towards them now for treating us so poorly after an investment that should have lasted for years. Now we need to Pay to Remove this pile of junk and spend another pile of money for its replacement.

I purchased a built-in refrigerator 7 years ago. Now my control board is not working according to the technician. I called KitchenAid directly and was told that there are very little choices. Tech said that the factory that made that part was damaged by the tsunami and destroyed the factory and blueprints. This is crazy and why they have no other viable backup plans or solutions to offer me.

11 mos. old side x side SS KitchenAid fridge stopped making ice. Whirlpool/KitchenAid Customer Service gave name and phone for our local authorized KA repair service. Fantastic response from service folks, but ice jam was caused by faulty evaporator - replaced. Next day, water all over kitchen flooring - serviceman came and left to order new ice maker. Installed a day later. Next day, water all over flooring again. Service came, contacted Whirlpool Service Tech who told him to replace the whole freezer door. Done 2 days later. That night, water all over the floor and entire mechanical portion of ice maker frozen so could not work. Next day, new water valve installed. That night, no ice. Next day water tubing siliconed. That afternoon, water dispenser wont shut off as the little valve finishes calling for water. Service guy came.Going to conference with his owner and Service Tech at Whirlpool... Service tech tells him to install a tiny shim under the freezer door washer. Done. That evening (3rd visit by repairman same day!) water flooding flooring once again. We have a lemon, but appears that we ALL have lemons. The IN company that sold me this suite of appliances by KitchenAid has now - 11 mos. later - stopped even listing them as products on their gigantic website! Another telling facet. Call to Whirlpool customer service - refusal to consider replacement. Wants another part installed. Were steaming... with no ice maker and now not even any drinking water. Were on a well!

We are now in the process of replacing our second top of the line KitchenAid built-in top stainless-steel of the line refrigerator/freezer in 14 years. Each lasted about 7 years and failed. The last one needed a new control board - no longer made. So the machine is obsolete by company failure to provide necessary parts over a longer period of time. Wont touch this product again. Trying to contact the manufacturer a big run around. Customer service is about as bad as it gets. Bought a new Sub-Zero. If you have a question, you get immediately to a real and knowledgeable person. Buyer beware! You get what you pay for.

We have a Kitchenaid Superba stove and oven model KGRT607HWH6. It was in our house when we moved in 2004. It has a glass backsplash. Three years ago the backsplash exploded with my 10 year old twin sons and a teenage friend and myself standing within three feet of it. We are lucky we were not hurt. I think the pots cooking on the stove may have been touching the backsplash and it just got too hot. But, what a stupid design for a stove top! The repairman did order a new backsplash for $100. For years I would find tiny pieces of glass stuck in corners and crevices in my kitchen. I guess I should be ashamed to admit it, but I have never used the self-cleaning feature and the oven is quite dirty. I started to look for instructions on-line, but, after reading all the complaints I am scared to try the self-cleaning feature. The instructions say to not use a commercial product. Not sure what I should do.

I am deeply disappointed with KitchenAid, an appliance manufacturer whom I thought built high quality, reliable products and who stood behind their products. I have a model KSSSC48QMS03 refrigerator that constantly runs with 1 second pauses and pinging noise. Technician diagnosed as faulty Gemini board 2307028 (W10219463). I cannot believe that Kitchen Aid does not provide repair part 2307028 (W10219463)! My home is only 8 years old and a showcase of high-end KitchenAid built-in stainless steel appliances; 48 wide refrigerator, microwave, warming drawer, double drawer dishwasher and gas stove with steamer. This Gemini Electronic Control is for the refrigerator (and, according to the service technician, in the stove as well). There are all kinds of complaints on the internet about KA refrigerators running continuously with a sonar-like pinging noise diagnosed as this faulty board. It is unbelievable that I have a $9K refrigerator for which KA will not provide a replacement part. According to the KA recommended service company, the only solution is to send the board off to a refurbisher. I dont like to buy parts from someone that is not supported by the manufacturer. Not that they may not do a good job, but that its not a new part, factory tested with manufacturer warranty. If this is what I can expect from KA, then as these appliances need to be replaced, I will change to a manufacturer who supports their products. Unbelievable, KitchenAid (Whirlpool)! This is probably a $50 part to manufacture that they could sell easily for $300. How can they anger so many customers? One comment said that KA told them this was due to the Tsunami in Japan that wiped out the plant. We had a plant affected as well at my company and its not hard to take the design to another manufacturing location.
