We purchased this in 2011 and have had nothing but problems. The doors could not close properly so they had to change mechanism. The food freezes in the back of the fridge as well as in the vegetable drawer no matter where I place the temperature. What a horrible Fridge. It makes me sick to think I paid so much for this. I wish I had gone real high end and purchased a Miele or Sub-Zero.

We have had our KitchenAid dishwasher for 14 years. Over the years I have viewed many others at various friends homes and mine is better in all areas! I believe buying the Top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher that is available. I have never had a problem with this dishwasher! Spending a few extra dollars on something used so much, is a great investment!

KITCHENAID MODEL# KUD123HBWHO, DATE OF MANUF: 1996, INSTALL DATE 1996. A good note for the earlier Whirlpool dishwashers. I had this one for 18 years & the steel tub developed a leak due to a small hole rusted through. It took 2 months, but Whirlpool has finally replaced my unit with a new one. The original warranty was for 25 years on the tub. This unit was 18 years old, without any other problems. I did have to pay the $95.00 diagnostic fee to have an independent appliance repair company to come & confirm the damage. This was an excellent example of customer service, in this instance.

I have a built in side by side KitchenAid fridge purchased in 2007. The water input valve, part number w10146431 stopped working but the part was discontinued and is no longer available so the fridge cant be repaired. Whirlpools attitude was I can buy a new fridge at a discount. There should be a law that parts have to be available for 10 years so major appliances can be repaired. I think Whirlpool deliberately discontinues certain parts to force consumers to buy new appliances. Based on that thought I would never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

I purchased microwave/hood combo in October 2010, installed November 2010. Unit no longer heats as of mid December 2011. I did not want microwave in the way for holidays so I contacted them in January. The second service call, I was informed element inside turntable had melted. After several more service calls, six all together, my unit has been on my dining room table for almost three months. Repeated calls to Whirlpool/KitchenAid have gotten me nowhere. I maintained that if part of the turntable melted, unit must be defective. I now have to pay $315 to get the unit replaced. They have no concern that I missed work on numerous occasions for failed service calls or that I paid for initial service call. If product is defective, it should be replaced without further cost to me.

I purchased a new Kitchenaid dishwasher from Lowes. It cost over $600 and had to be ordered. Two weeks later it was installed. It leaked all over our floor. We called Lowes and they sent the installer back out. He removed it and could find nothing wrong. He reinstalled the machine. It leaked again and he told us we would have to call Whirlpool factory warranty. I did and they sent a repair company. This company worked on the machine for over an hour and could not fix it. They told us to try it. We did and it leaked. I called them back and they came. They worked on the machine, again over an hour. He told us to try it again. We did and it leaked again. The repairman said he had Whirlpool training and he would present our issue to the instructor. The instructor told our repairman they would replace the machine. We have now been notified that they will not replace the machine and are sending a new tub to the repair shop to be replaced in the machine, even though they do not actually know what is wrong. I went to Lowes and spoke to the assistant manager and he said that we should have called them back and they would have replaced the machine, even though their installer told me to call the Whirlpool warranty people, not Lowes. And, Lowes told me that had I bought their extended warranty plan they would replace the machine. But why should I buy an extended warranty when the machine is brand new and has its own warranty. It has been five months now and we still have no dishwasher. Our floor is ruining from the leaked water and no one at Lowes or Whirlpool cares. Im just out $600+. My recommendation is: dont buy anything made by Whirlpool; no Kitchenaid, nothing. And buy nothing from Lowes unless you buy their added warranty.

We purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher 1 year ago. Worked fine - quiet, clean dishes, etc until 9 months into the purchase. I began noting peculiar smell and dark scum near drain at front right corner. Store informed me that the drain line that went into the new garbage disposal under the sink may be too low. We raised the drain hose to be above and this seemed to work for a couple of days but the swampy odor has returned as well as a chalky haze on some of the dishes on the lower rack. I am now told that the problem may be in the control panel. Really?! This is too new an appliance to have this type of problem. I do not think Consumer Report truly assessed the quality of workmanship when they recommended this dishwasher.

So I will start out by saying that I did not read the negative reviews before purchase. This was not my first oven purchase and should have done more homework. The all the positives were so POSITIVE! So, that being said, my oven is about 6 weeks old. Yesterday for the first time, I tried out the self-cleaning feature. It ran well for a few hours then completely went out. Nothing. I tried everything with the power and fuses but nothing. I have been trying to get someone to help me but I cant reach anyone. Sears repair wont touch it. I will call again on Monday to KitchenAid again. But seeing all of these poor reviews it is making me very nervous. I will have to say that this is a piece of junk. The glass on the inside is stained and gross. I will update this complaint again after KitchenAid gets back to me. But this is crazy. If consumer affairs knew about this problem with the fan and cleaning cycle, why is are they allowed to sell this crap? Class action, I want in. Should have never purchased a KitchenAid.

We purchased a KitchenAid 48 KSSC48QT side-by-side (for custom wood panel inserts) from Factory Builder Store along with a double oven, microwave, dishwasher, all KitchenAid. The ice maker on the refrigerator has been a joke from the beginning. The ice dispenser does not work, we have to open the freezer door in order to scoop ice out of the bin on the door. When we open the freezer door, ice always falls all over the place and the flap on the ice maker is covered with an ice sheet from some type of leakage. After reading everyones comments, I have come to the conclusion that KitchenAid will soon be a past American icon and I will need to just take it as a loss. What a shame. My kitchen is the heart of my home and was featured in our local newspaper and in MySanAntonio website. We entertain almost every weekend and I make sure all my guests and neighbors know that I dont have any ice from the freezer in my kitchen because KitchenAid makes a lousy product. Guests have naturally gone to the freezer door during a party to dispense ice and I just comment Oh sorry, it’s a KitchenAid. Don’t ever buy one! Please get the ice from my old freezer in the garage! (which for 10 years has worked perfectly). Some of these folks are CEOs, contractors and custom home builders so I make sure the word gets out. I guess I will just keep a supply of bagged ice till the whole ** thing gives out on us, which I expect will happen soon based on everyones feedback!

Purchased our Double Oven July 29/11 from a local appliance shop (Herbs Appliances), authorized dealer for kitchen aid. From day one it did not work properly, convection fan made noise, in all fairness Herbs came back and fixed that. Then the electronics board failed. Had to turn breaker off and on, to reset it constantly. Well, now Herbs Appliances was not so eager to return and did not return at all. Excuse after excuse why he could not come. Then the upper oven failed totally. Called Kitchen Aid said it was no longer under warranty. Absolute nightmare from Retailer to manufacturer. To add insult to injury, we purchase a new cook top from Ikea. Nutid Induction cook top. It lasted 6 months, half the burners failed. To my surprise it was another kitchen aid product. To nobody else fault but my own, I have misplaced the receipt. No warranty. Big Box to supporting your local retailer, dont buy Kitchen Aid.

Yesterday the technician and the supervisor promised it was fixed. They ran the test and no errors were detected. Loaded the dishwasher and ran it using the recommended settings and dishes came out dirty. They say there is nothing wrong with the dishwasher EXCEPT IT DOESNT WASH THE DISHES. Get the Bosch. KitchenAid is terrible to deal with, their chosen technicians are terrible to deal with and the product stinks.

Our KitchenAid Microwave #KHMS155LSS-4 (manufactured May 2006) has been beeping randomly and flashing the Lock key or F2. Nothing short of disconnecting will stop the beeping. Even after disconnecting the unit, I will power it back up & the Lock key or F2 will appear again & the microwave will not work at all. The beeping will continue for minutes on end. This product is dangerous and after having read the same complaints on Consumer Affairs website, its a major wonder why it has not been recalled as some consumers have stated that the microwave will suddenly turn on. I contacted Kitchen Aid & had a live chat with a rep who said, Based on the issues that youre describing, there are no recalls for the problem with this model and serial combination. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. We can only suggest for an accurate diagnosis and satisfactory addressing of any malfunctioning component that may be contributing to your concern that you contact a local factory certified care provider for further assistance. Would you like some referrals?. This is very disappointing to hear, Kitchen Aid is not doing anything about the issue.

Frustrated and disappointed with KitchenAid regarding refrigerator model number KSC23C8EYY03 bought new in October 2014. Purchased refrigerator in October 2014 for residential use. In May 2016, owners observed ice accumulation behind the crisper drawers of the refrigerator. Items in fridge were not being cooled to appropriate temperature and freezer cold but not adequately freezing contents. Not under warranty at that time, owners called a local service company to review situation and a part was replaced.Owner then purchases a warranty, which was enacted in September 2016 when the same issue presented itself. Since then KitchenAid warranty has been called - February 2017, July 2017, October 2017, February 2018 and now April 26, 2018 - all for the same issue. The refrigerator is essentially inoperable during each service request every 2-5 months, resulting in food spoilage and loss of money. Owners are aware of the Lemon Law, however, there is no recognition on KitchenAid Warranty’s part on customer frustration regarding the investment of money into a product that has simply proven 6 times over that it does not work. It wasn’t until speaking with a KitchenAid Warranty supervisor today (April 2018) that owner was informed about the option of filing a food loss claim (again, after dealing with KitchenAid Warranty 5 times since September 2016). We again are having the refrigerator serviced, with the expectation that any repair would prove fruitless, a part will be replaced that won’t get us closer to a Lemon Law review, and resulting in a temporary fix that would need to again be serviced in 3 months time. The service repair technician who has serviced the unit all 6 times is equally frustrated that the solutions given to them by KitchenAid Warranty does not fully resolve the situation.

I bought this refrigerator in 2013 to replace a Superba Kitchenaid which I was very happy with. I loved the configuration of drawers, the french doors, the freezer with two shelves. It seemed very well thought-out design wise. I still love all these things. However, the most important thing a refrigerator and freezer can do is: keep refrigerator foods cold and keep frozen foods frozen. It also needs to be moderately quiet. One year ago we experienced problems with the ice maker and freezer. Unit began making a very very loud noise also. Over $500 later and a very unsatisfactory experience with A and E - will never use them again. There were multiple services calls which resulted in fees which they were supposed to reverse because of their error and they never did. A very frustrating experience. The unit stopped making ice again a few months ago and began to buzz very loudly. We experimented with various things: keeping the top shelf of the fridge empty, moving things around in the freezer. We began making ice in ice trays and transferring the ice to the dispenser. It would make ice intermittently. Then we began to notice foods werent frozen in the freezer. And the noise became Louder and louder and LOUDER. To the point I had to wear earplugs to bed. We are now working with a local company to see if their fixes work.Time will tell. I can hardly believe how many people Ive talked to have a similar story. It seems that refrigerators generally are junky. Something we all need. Yet they last 4 years? Our parents refrigerators lasted decades... If anyone has a recommendation of a refrigerator that could last 10 years let me know - Im pretty sure we will need to replace this 4 year old expensive model soon.

We purchased a KitchenAid counter depth refrigerator Model #KRFC300ESS03 about 1 1/2 years ago. When the water filter needed to be replaced, I could not find the product and could not get the old filter out. I also learned that you had to open and close the doors a certain was to prevent the seal from cracking (not mentioned in the manual). The seal is cracking, plus the door handle has come loose and cannot be tightened. KitchenAid just sent me a warranty solicitation, and for $387.95 I can get a one year extended warranty on the fridge, which cost $1,799.99. Seems too high to me and I just wish this was a better product.

Kitchen Aid Wall Oven. Model #: KEBS109BSS00. Serial #: D23109017. This oven has been trouble since installing brand new October 2016 in our new home construction. Every year we have paid over $200 in repairs with blown thermal fuse, a new gasket, new fan, another thermal fuse, and now another thermal fuse. I have contacted Whirlpool/ Kitchen Aid and they do not stand behind their lemons. This is definitely a LEMON!. It is very SLOW to preheat. I can not use the full functionality of self-clean that we paid for due to blowing the fuse, and completely undependable. (MY OVEN WENT OUT ON THANKSGIVING MORNING!) KSF22C4cYY01 - Purchased a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in October 2014 from Lowes. Thinking that this refrigerator though a little higher price, it would be a better refrigerator. I was wrong! Shortly after purchase I noticed water freezing in the bottom of freezer. Had a repairman with warranty company come out to fix it. Also had a bad taste in the water that took over a month to clear up. Then the ice maker stopped working. Had the same repairman out. He was unable to repair said it needed a new ice basket. They had to order it. Several weeks went by. I called to find out that they could not find part needed, therefore the refrigerator needed to be exchanged. This has been ongoing for four months and I have yet to talk to the correct person for the exchange. Every time I call I am put on hold for a long time and then told someone will call me back and they never do. I am so disappointed with KitchenAid! I will not buy their product again.

After 30 months of minimal use we woke up to a major leak from our dishwasher thankfully not reaching our finished basement. Call in appliance repairman of high quality and had the the whole pump system replaced. The repairman said it was very common replacement on KitchenAid and it was probably a manufacturing issue. He was told that he would have to pay for the part and labor (over $200). I then read through this website and called the Whirlpool safety line at 1-800-331-7456. No problem. In last 1 year they have sent service technicians almost 6 times and the problem still persists. After paying $8389.31 I am using a duct tape to keep the door closed, otherwise the food will go bad.I would like to get either my money back or product exchanged for a good one. Customer service said that they have sent my compliant to Pex department, but they didn’t give me any assurance on when it would be replaced. I was talked into purchasing a KitchenAid dishwasher by a sales associate. I went in to buy a Bosch (great product) but was talked into spending a little more because KitchAid is suppose to be the best. I am here to tell you it is NOT!! First, my heating element went out. It was a recall for that particular year so they sent me the parts free of charge but I had to pay someone to replace it! Then the wheels dry rotted on my top rack. That was another recall so once again, they sent me the part (top rack) free of charge, but it was up to me to install it. NOW...the wheels on my bottom rack dry rotted, not a recall (how odd bc the top rack did the exact same thing), this time they are not doing anything to remedy the faulty part!! This company is terrible! DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT buy KitchenAid Appliances! They are truly a waste of money and they do not stand behind their products!! Terribly Disappointed!

We built a brand new house in 2011/12. New house means all new appliances. Our KUDS30IXSS6 from Sears seemed like a great product at first. So quiet you sometimes didnt even realize it was on. But then the wheels of the top rack broke off one by one. I realized my brand new Hickory floor boards were beginning to warp - the leak apparently inviting a colony of ANTS to live under my dishwasher!!! And the control panel would stop working from time to time, only to magically start working again after a week or two - just as I was about to call in a repairman. Well it has stopped working again and after reading countless stories of people with the same exact experiences as mine, Im not going to waste my money getting it fixed because according to the reports of others it will only happen again and again. This dishwasher is only 3 years old!! Within the first few months the problems started. A $900+ dishwasher that is worth nothing but a headache.

IN 1953 my parents built a house after I was born. They had a KitchenAid dishwasher that was still working perfectly in that house when they retired to Florida in 1986. I figured that was a good reason to look at KA appliances when I remodeled the kitchen in my current house in 2011. BAD MOVE!! I bought a whole stainless KitchenAid kitchen (warming drawer, cook-top, double built-in convection oven, hood, etc.). Im now looking at the four repair tickets that document the three months it took for them to get the double oven model #KEMS308SSS04 brains working - thankfully covered under warranty as it was within weeks of installation that the troubles began - and thinking I didnt know how good I had it then compared to the dishwasher travails Im still going through!.The dishwasher - Model #KUDS30FXSS1 - has broken down four times. The first time was just after the warranty ran out and we paid for labor when they replaced the controller circuitry. The second was shortly after the first and we paid again for the part to be installed - both times having to wait several days, dishwasher less, for the part to be delivered after the diagnosis. On the third time the control panel went dark, about two months ago, I opened the unit (having seen techs do it four times) and after jiggling the circuit boards and re-seating the plugs it lit up and worked... until we loaded it after dinner last Thursday. Now the control panel is once again dark. Im waiting for some response from Kitchen Aid and Im warning you not to buy Whirlpool corporation stuff as it doesnt dont work and the company doesnt care.

I bought the French doors refrigerator just 6 months ago and right away the fan was very noisy. Now 6 months in the temperature reading shows 125 on the freezer but yet it is freezing everything not just in the freezer but the fridge compartment. Called customer service and they took a week to send someone who just kept saying it’s the computer board. Even a non-technical person like me knew it was a thermostat issue. Takes another 10 days to come back with the new board and installs it and leaves. Nothing changed so I called back and then took another week to come back to test. Admits it’s the thermostat and says will order the part. 3 weeks after still no part and just fake promises, they are working on getting a thermostat. 5 weeks no working fridge and no sign of it being fixed or compensated for it or even replacement fridge. I actually don’t even want their garbage fridge or their lousy customer service! Just want my 5000 back. Do not get any Kitchen Aid appliances. They will give you a runaround.

I purchased all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances in October 2009 from Bad Boy in Whitby. I also purchased the Gold extended warranty. I noticed about a week ago March 24, 2015 that the bottom of the fridge (model: KBRS22KVss1 and S/N KY3628480) has a crack right in the middle coming out from under the deli drawer. I called Bad Boy but of course the extended warranty expired in December 2014. I then checked the warranty in the KitchenAid manual but it expired the same time. I have never in all my 62 years seen or heard of a cracked liner yet in the manual it states it will pay for replacement or repair of the refrigerator/freezer cavity liner if the part cracks due to defective materials or workmanship. Just on the off chance I called KitchenAid....Due to the age of the refrigerator there is no warranty but they can send a serviceman for $89.00 for the first 15 mins. I talked to the parts department to get an idea of that cost and the liner is not a replaceable part but they do have a patch kit. He could not tell me how much that would be or what it consists of as its a service kit and hes not a serviceman. Beware appliances are made to last 5 years only.

KSSCA 42QMS03 built-in refrigerator-freezer - Builder Centex (now a Pulte division) installed this optional upgrade appliance in March 2007 for $7000. Now, appliance is not cooling enough in freezer and almost no cooling in refrigerator; has flashing indicator lights; and has intermittent low fan noise. Repair tech said KitchenAid does not carry replacement for defective Main Circuit Board because Japanese factory for the board was damaged by the tsunami during the large earthquake that destroyed nearby nuclear plant, so customers have to wait till 2020, per KitchenAid, for KA to have replacement circuit board again. That tsunami was in March 2011 -- more than 4 years ago; how long does it take to have another company make that circuit board? Or does KitchenAid not care about its obligations to its customers for prompt availability of replacement parts? In reading the other damning reviews on this website, I am getting a clearer picture of the poor accountability of this manufacturer. What I do not understand is that Whirlpool, a highly regarded brand in appliances, is apparently allowing their upscale KitchenAid brand to languish in poor management practices.

We have owned the KERS306BSS range since March of 2013. On balance, we like the design of the range and its features (except the AquaLift cleaning feature which, like others have reported, does not clean well). During this time, we have had five instances of a repetitive problem of the range unexpectedly turning itself completely off. This has happened both while using the range and while it is not in use. KitchenAid FAQ advises customers to turn the power off, wait a minute, and turn the power back on in an effort to reboot the system. After doing this, however, only one of the features (oven or surface units) starts working again. The range has been serviced after each of these instances and works correctly for another few weeks, or maybe a month, and the problem repeats.KitchenAid initially would not refund our money and only offered a replacement unit. When we did not receive delivery confirmation, we attempted to follow up. We were told delivery had been delayed to February. Then, we were told replacement units were not available and given instructions on how to fax in an application for a refund. We told we would receive a confirmation. We did not. We will post our additional progress at resolving this complaint.Overall, our experience with KitchenAid Customer Service personnel has been very poor. Each time you call you get a different person who has a hard time locating your previous calls. The first time we called the Product Exchange Group we were assigned a contact person who said we should call her for any questions. Unfortunately, we could never reach her again and other customer personnel did not seem to know her.

We built a new home in the Rio Grande Valley in 2005. Since we had previously remodeled our home in Irving, Texas using KitchenAid products which gave excellent service, we assumed we could rely on newer models to do the same. This was a mistake. We installed a stainless steel oven/microwave combination (Model No: KEHC309KSS 05, Serial No: XS060040 57). The microwave door springs continually break and the light bulb burns out regularly. The product requires a service call every year. It requires two men to change the microwave light bulb because the whole unit has to be pulled from the cabinet. One man must hold the unit while the second replaces the bulb. Even though the service people are told they must send two men, they seldom comply, requiring the scheduling of a second service call. If we did not continually purchase extended warranties, there would be no way to keep the product operable. After reading all of the posted complaints, we are now afraid to use the self-cleaning part of the actual oven. This was a poorly designed product which never should have been marketed in the first place. After a two page letter listing the number of service calls and the problems, we received a call from KitchenAid stating they had received the letter, had no record of any previous complaints and were relaying the information to their engineers. It sounded as though there would be no follow-up and no effort to resolve the complaint. Its amazing that a company can continue in business with so many complaints against it by relying on past reputation. We would never recommend a KitchenAid product again.

We actually have the same problem as the person who posted on October 27th, 2012 in that the refrigerator is not cooling. We have a Side-by-Side (water/ice on door) model#: KSRG22FTSS01. Today, Oct 29th, I have made a service call and this will be the 5th time they are coming to my house. We have replaced some parts and have spent a small fortune on dry ice, not to mention, having to throw away a lot of food. Does anyone have an idea of how to really solve this issue?

Weve owned our 30 inch slide in gas range for 3 years and when you brush up against it you wont even know until later on when you smell gas that one of the knobs was turned ever so slightly emitting the gas fumes. I contacted KitchenAid Customer Experience and reported this matter and to see if they have come up with a fix or recall. There hasnt been any. With all the news of gas explosions happening to houses across the country, this is definitely a safety issue. Im hoping Consumers Union and/or the Consumer Product Safety Commission can do something before someone else experiences a horrifying event.

My wife and I purchased KitchenAid appliances for our home thinking that these would be quality products and something that would last with the least problems. Also, we have received good service from their company reps. As with various KitchenAid models, there seems to be issues with the self-clean mode on the ovens. The first time we tried to use the self-clean mode, it locked up after about an hour and would not release nor would our oven operate. We called for service and we chose only the 1-year warranty so ours was out of warranty. It became a costly repair of about $300.00 to replace a burned-out thermostat. After repair, about a month later, we tried to clean it again and the same occurred. This time, I researched on the Internet for the schematics and I replaced the same thermostat for $50.00 myself. The stove did work and freed up but we still cannot use the self-clean mode. What is the sense of paying for quality products and paying for features you cannot use? KitchenAid says there is nothing they will do as no recall has been issued. Can this also become a danger to use in our home? Needless to say, we also have problems with our ice maker on our KitchenAid refrigerator which is also out of warranty. The problem here is the ice cubes get hung up in the maker and stops making ice as it is hung up. Who wants to check this every day?

After looking at various makes and models of ovens online, we purchased/ordered our KitchenAid wall oven (KEBS107) back in August 2012, waiting for over 2 months for the actual delivery of the new oven. Over the next year and a half, we had occasional issues with the oven not heating properly - sometimes it would pre-heat quickly - sometimes it would seem to take a very long time to reach the desired temperature - especially if I was needing to change the temperature during use. After 16 months of use, the thermal fuse had to be replaced. Apparently the oven door has to be closed at ALL times, especially when broiling. Now, after two years of use, the oven is acting up once again and not heating properly. I purchased an oven thermometer to verify this. KitchenAid is going to cover this 2nd repair, even though I was told that my ESP was not currently in effect (which is another frustrating story that I wont go into). I am thinking at this point that there is a major design flaw with this appliance. Having any sort of electronic/module located just over the opening of an appliance that can get very hot was probably not a good idea. If I cant open the door of a hot oven to check on or remove the contents inside, what good is it????? This oven has been nothing but frustrating pretty much since we bought it!

I purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher from Lowes a few years ago to replace my 14-year-old perfect Whirlpool. The KitchenAid worked well for awhile, but suddenly the entire inside tub had a film on it, and now every glass, every utensil, every plate, etc., has a white film all over. I have tried everything - changing detergents, washing every dish thoroughly before loading into dishwasher, etc. Nothing has worked. I cant even clean the film off once it is on. After reading the reviews on this site, I feel like calling KitchenAid will only frustrate and upset me. This dishwasher was expensive and it is a huge disappointment. I would advise anyone to look at other brands first.

KUDS30IXBL Superba Series Dishwasher - Having the same issues as the other
KUDS30IXBL Superba Series Dishwasher - Having the same issues as the other owners have described. The control board has died three times in 2 years. When I called customer service they said the control board was under a 5yr limited warranty and that they would send out a technician to fix the dishwasher. Keep in mind they select the repairman who comes to your house to do the work. What they do not mention is that you are responsible to pay for labor, the initial diagnostic visit AND the second visit to actually fix the broken device. The day of the scheduled visit, the technician calls to remind me that there is a $70 charge to just come look at the device. What angers me most is that even though this is a repeat issue, and that Kitchenaid/whirlpool chooses the repair company (who should fix the issue right the first time), the company will not take care of the labor fee. Their official line is we just take care of replacement parts and that I should take up labor issues with the technician. I feel like this process is put in place intentionally to take advantage of their customers and to absolve themselves of any accountability for their poorly manufactured product. This company is perfectly fine letting their customers total cost of ownership grow out of control. At this point, I could have purchased another dishwasher just from the cost of repairs. To summarize, this dishwasher is garbage and the company treats their customers like garbage. Another example of that is that I also own the front loading washing machine that has mildew issues (currently in a class action lawsuit). Their defense is that their customers should know how to properly use a washing machine. This is a great example of a company that does not stand behind their product nor do they care about their customers. Im sure there will be a class action with this line as well.

We purchased the KitchenAid Dishwasher with built-in water softener not last summer, but the previous one (less than 2 years ago). A few weeks ago, we were sitting in our family room when we noticed acrid smoke pouring out of the dishwasher, and an electrical popping noise (shorting). We ran and turned off the power at the breaker box. Sure enough, the control panel was smoking and completely dead. Thankfully, we were in the next room in our open concept home or this could have turned into a major fire. We paid almost $1000 for this dishwasher, hoping that the better model & water softener would mean it would last longer. Do NOT buy this dishwasher as it is UNSAFE to have in your home. We walked away from the Whirlpool brand over this, after many years of brand loyalty to Whirlpool and its family of brands.

This top of the line KitchenAid refrigerator has not worked properly since Day 1. One problem after another. Whirlpool Corporation is a disgusting company to deal with. Told they will repair, but never allow a return. Every time we had a service technician come out, they would say something different from the previous technician. Whirlpool said they needed to pull the whole ceiling out, including wiring, to stick in a small foam pad to correct a problem issue with this model rather than replace this Lemon. They knew all the problems this French door model had but refused to fix them properly. Both refrigerator and freezer made me lose expensive medication and groceries more than once. I have owned the refrigerator for 3 years now and have nothing but problems. First time I did not buy extended warranty and it has bitten me. 1 1/2 years in and the fridge stops cooling. Repairman came out and said it lost Freon. He fixed it and it only lasted a month. Called different repairman out and he said same thing that fridge lost Freon but this time he would have to take to shop to repair. Fridge gone for 2 weeks. Both of these companies were recommended by KitchenAid for warranty work. I never paid a dime but I was without fridge for a total of 3 weeks and lost all of my food on the first failure. Now it has been about 8 months and now my ice maker has quit working and the fridge is not cooling like it should. Everything is now out of factory warranty and I am not throwing any more money at this thing. So disappointing that I could not get more than 3 years out of a $2200 fridge.

Unfortunately, I am joining a long list of customers who purchased the Kitchen Aid Superba microwave oven/oven built-in combination. After less than 5 years, the bottom oven door locks, without warning or just cause. KitchenAid is aware of this manufacturer defect, but chooses to ignore it, and refuse to resolve this issue. Turning off the circuit breaker should reset the computer, but dont count on it. The other solution you may be given is to turn on the self clean feature, cancel it after 2-3 minutes, and hopefully it will unlock. I am appalled that managers like Kia (ID 8592), has no concern for customers. Kia basically stated that after one year, warranties expire, it becomes the customers problem. The licensed technicians are stumped to fix the problem, but wont tell you until they collect a service call fee. What is even more outrageous is the model and serial number are inside the oven, but when the door is locked, you cannot not see the number. It is a no-brainer to relocate the model and serial number, so it is accessible when the oven locks up, because it will. The bottomline is, a class action lawsuit needs to be filed, and a national recall needs to go into effect. Please send me an email if you want to be included in this lawsuit. Send facts with your complete information to **. This is an obvious manufacturer defect which is a hazard. The oven light will not turn off, and the oven door locks for no apparent reason. I am writing to the president Mark Bitzer and the CEO Jeff Fettig about the issues that should be a concern to them. Others experiencing this problem should write to them at ** Benson, MI 49022.

Purchased a Kitchen aid dishwasher on 01/21/21 to replace a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that did not last 3 years. Was not what I wanted but beggars cant be choosers. Model number KDFM404KPSO, the first issue was that it smelled like an oil refinery when operating, and still does. Called the manufacturer, and was told oh that is the material they used to help with heat retention. It should dissipate in 6 months or so. Believe me that this smell was/ is nauseating. Second issue was the noise level. It was touted as one of the quietest on the market, believe me it is not. It was making noises that the service rep sent to check it out could not explain. Now scheduled for a complete rebuild after less than 2 months.Third issue. It does not get some of the dishes dry especially on the top racks, and yes we use a drying agent. Both kitchen aid dishwashers have proven unreliable, but at least while the old one worked it did not stink up my kitchen, and you could not tell it was running when standing over it. Will NEVER buy another product made by this manufacturer, and they make several different brands.

We purchased KitchenAid Model# KMHC319ESS-3 and after 2 years since the purchase it was necessary to replace the magnetron, a major part of a microwave. It cost us more than half the price of the microwave for this replacement. A major part of the workings of the appliance shouldnt break after 2 years. Will not buy a KitchenAid product again.

The refrigerator freezer leaks water and then builds block of ice - have to remove every 3 weeks. The dishwasher, the door that soap is place in wont open making the soap not dissolve - has been replace once before. The caddy where the silverware is place into is all corroded making holes on the caddy pieces fall off. The stove door has fallen - have to unscrew the doors due to the style of the appliance. Food, grease falls in between the door and glass due to vents. The stainless steel which it is not stainless as they say is a poor type of metal that the appliance look smear all the time. I am able to stick door magnets on the door. Kitchen Aid will not take care of problem. All they say is, Unfortunately the appliance are 3 years old, but the problem is ongoing since the first month of purchase.

The KitchenAid refrigerator we recently installed (1 week ago on 08/06/2020) model KBFN502ESS02 - a built-in model (at about $9,000.) does not hold -5 degrees F in the freezer. Some of the foods we use like that temperature. The documentation about the model in the User Manual says the set point for the freezer is -5 degrees F to 3 degrees F. We set -5 F into the system. We today 8/12/2020 had a service tech (factory authorized) check the freezer and he found that the average temp in the freezer from the diagnostic panel showed 0 degrees F over the last 10 hours. The factory rep he talked to said that was within specs. There are no specs in any document other than the set point can be as stated above. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID. Their products look good but don’t believe any documentation or specs.

It does not clean well as it should no matter which brand or type (gel vs power vs pack) I use. Noisy. Long long cycle. I have had two kitchen aids before this and was happy. Then this house came with Maytag which did not do halfway good job cleaning. Then when it broke I chose KitchenAid. But this one seems noisier and even the cycle seems long - it may be average just seems long. The dishes do not come clean. Especially forks.

Today I phoned for my 4th service call for this 2 year old KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS30FXSS. It simply doesnt clean the dishes, leaving a food residue on mainly the top rack of dishes. Each time, the serviceman has cleaned out the chopper and pump (beware: there is no removable filter for this model) and it cleans for a few weeks, then we start washing by hand until I can find a time to stay home for another service person to come out to do the same thing. Even though I purchased the 4 year extended warranty, KitchenAid has denied this 4th claim. I have been a loyal KitchenAid customer, and will be replacing this dishwasher with different brand. What a waste of money and resources.

I called KitchenAid and contacted the repair guy. He came and said he needed to get parts. Week passed. Meanwhile, our contractor had come and fitted the refrigerator with the custom panels to match our new cabinets. Then the repair guy came with 1 of 2 possible bad parts, opened the box and part was broken. I found out from him that the other part - the main circuit board - was made by some factory in Japan that was wiped out by the tsunami. KitchenAid has no replacement parts for this board. If it is bad, it has to be pulled and sent back to KitchenAid to be repaired. However, repair guy said, We should replace the control panel board first and see if that does the trick.I called again to KitchenAid and had the part shipped to our home to expedite the repair - another week passed before we could get the repair guy back (we live in the country) and he opened the box (part number of the box was right) and said the part that was sent to us was for a stove. That was today. We have now been over a month with nothing but a mini-refrigerator - KitchenAid has been unresponsive and uninterested in helping us. We have now contacted both the place we bought this turkey from and have agreed to wait until Monday for the sales person to contact KitchenAid and see if he can get a replacement (which we are pretty much boxed into, as we have a big investment in the custom cabinet arrangement).Im SO disappointed and frustrated.

Bought our KitchenAid spring 2016. November 2016, I noticed our cupboards next to the dishwasher are ruined because someone at KitchenAid had a brilliant idea of doing a side steam vent instead of a front vent. We want to thank Chris from B.C. who posted detailed instructions for repairing the electronic control board for Kitchen Aid refrigerators. Our 5 y.o. premium cabinet depth Kitchen Aid model #KBFC42FTS02 had the same problem that Chris described (constant alarm chirping, flashing lights on control panel), but our fridge was still cold. The Kitchen Aid affiliated repair service (contracted by KitchenAid/Whirlpool) told us that the electronic control board needed to be replaced. However, they claimed that the factory which manufactured the parts in Japan had been destroyed by the tsunami and no more parts were being made. Further, I called the KitchenAid parts service line on their webpage and that person (also a contracted service, not a KitchenAid/Whirlpool employee) told us that the date listed for availability of the part was 2020 (which he said meant that they had no plans to supply the part in the future)! The repair service offered to take the part out (then we would have no working fridge) and send it out for repair, which could take up to 30 days - not a viable solution from our point of view. At the repairmans suggestion, we attempted to find a new or refurbished part online and were not successful. Obviously, lots of other folks are having the same problem with their KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. Before Christmas, reluctantly we schedule a repair visit to have the part removed and sent for repair. The repair service never showed, despite their assurances that a repairman was delayed but was on his way! After that, we were reluctant to trust them with the brains of our expensive refrigerator. After Christmas, we found Chris blog of 12/28/13, with his description of the parts we would need to repair the control board ourselves and detailed instructions. We were able to make the repairs and our refrigerator is now working. Our cost was under $20. Thanks, Chris - this was a welcome holiday gift! We cant believe how callous KitchenAid/Whirlpool have been in abandoning their customers. We will never buy another product from their company.

We bought Model # KRFC300ESS01. Plug it in and two weeks later wasnt cooling in the refrigerator, but the freezer was freezing over, lost all of our food. KitchenAid sent out repair service, ordered parts replaced and said it was fixed and here we are 2 weeks later with the same thing happening again. Now kitchenaid wants to send out another repair service and order more parts. 3 months with no refrigerator, however we still have to make our payments. We lost 2 complete refrigerators full of food and endless amounts of money eating out. So Sad KitchenAid another American company goes down the tubes with no responsibility towards their customers. I guess the $4500.00 we spent on the full package means nothing.

I also purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher and the pump went out on it within the first 6 months. I am single and run it MAYBE once a week. When it came time to purchase a gas range I decided to ditch the so called American made KitchenAid brand and go with the Bertazzoni (Italian manufacturer, family business-6 generations strong). NO WAY was I going to purchase yet another KitchenAid that would need repair within the first year. In hindsight I wish I would have purchased a Bosch dishwasher and did more research on refrigerators. I would NOT recommend ANY Kitchen Aid product!!!!!!!!

Three months ago, our 15-year old fridge died. We headed to Lowes and selected a KitchenAid side-by-side/freezer drawer below (model KFIL27CXMS5). It looked very nice in the store and we selected it because we thought the brand had a good reputation. Three months later, rust spots appeared on the stainless steel doors. I called KitchenAid, only to be told they saw this as a cosmetic issue which was not covered. They did say they could send a repairman to look at it, but I would have to pay for the service call. I protested and spoke to the service manager. No help! I returned to the Lowes store and the appliance manager had Lowes file a formal complaint with KitchenAid. He said Lowes would stand behind me. Well see. For now, my advice is never buy a KitchenAid appliance.

I have a KitchenAid range. It is gas with electric oven. If you lean over it when cleaning you will turn on something. It goes off if you get to close to circuit board. If breaker is set off the whole panel where you set everything will shut down as if stove is broken. Sometimes after breaker is reset it still will shut down. After you do that three or four times it will come back on. I am always afraid the panel is out and that is a major cost. This is a problem somewhere in that control panel. Hopefully someone will find it since this is a 3500.00 range.

This has happened twice, with the last time two wheels fell on to the heating element and burned up. A week later the burnt smell is still in the machine. Whirlpool, who makes this, said this is not considered a hazard because even though it burned up the plastic wheel, it did not cause a fire. A ridiculous answer! I suggested better fitting wheels are needed along with a screen over the heating element to prevent anything from landing on it. They wont do anything, even replace the wheels, because it didnt catch on fire!! Buyer beware - poor product, poor customer service!!

We purchased a Kitchenaid model KUDS301XBL4 dishwasher about 2 years ago. It appears that the plastic inside the tub is deteriorating and the pegs that hold the rollers for the top rack have broken. I have found this is a common complaint among Kitchenaid dishwasher owners. The parts cost for the repair is about $28 per side plus shipping costs. I did send an e-mail to Kitchenaid explaining the problem and asking them what their solution is regarding the defective parts. No reply at this time. I dont expect them to acknowledge defects or offer a solution based on other complaints I have read . So, I took to finding a solution myself.I examined the mechanism and figured out how it works and had an idea that if I could find the right nylon and stainless steel parts at my hardware store, I could re-install the rollers on a different spot on the sides of the rack. I found all the parts for the four rollers for a total of $7.89 and proceeded with installing them. I had to use a Dremel tool to cut the broken roller pegs off and sand a small plastic ridge flat. I drilled holes and assembled my parts and attached them successfully to each side of the rack (see picture). For each roller, I used a stainless steel screw, washer and lock nut along with a nylon finish washer and a nylon bushing. It works great! It is too bad that Kitchenaid wont stand behind their product, as evident in other, similar complaints. I am not an engineer, but I engineered a solution in one-hour that will last longer than the rest of the original plastic parts in the tub.

In 2006, we remodeled our kitchen, and in that process invested in Kitchen Aid appliances, including a side by side built-in stainless steel refrigerator. On August 11, 2014, the refrigerator stopped cooling, and we were told that the main control board needed to be replaced, and so the odyssey began. At the beginning of this ordeal, we were told that the part in question was ordered, was then on back-order, and would be shipped to our home in about three weeks. After three weeks, however, we were then told that the part was no longer manufactured because the factory was destroyed by a Tsunami two years ago! We acted on the corporations advice to send the defective board to Core Centric, which until very recently, Whirlpool was recommending to its customers in our same situation. Core Centric could not repair it, and we then sent the board to a company in Texas, also to no avail. The appliance repairman that we have been dealing with then ordered the part from Amazon/Sears, paid for it, waited two weeks for delivery, and when he contacted Sears, was told that the order was cancelled. After calling Whirlpool again, I was told that my file would be referred to a special department for possible inclusion in their pro-rated exchange program. I was told today that such a program would be offered to us because the company is supposed to provide parts for their appliances for ten years, and our appliance is less than ten years old. How lucky I feel to find out that I can exchange my eight-year-old built-in, which we purchased because it was marketed as an appliance that you repair, not replace, for the sum of $7,204.15!!! I was told that the new purchase price for my model would be $8,299.00. After further discussion, I was then told that the lowest price I could be offered to exchange my refrigerator, that cannot be repaired because the corporation has breached their obligation to provide parts for ten years for, would be $6,000.00. I was also told by the representative that I spoke with that she hears this same story all day long from other customers. SHAME ON YOU KITCHEN AID/WHIRLPOOL!!! (As an aside, thank God that my 20 year old Kenmore refrigerator in our garage still works perfectly, because we have now been without a kitchen refrigerator for 14 weeks).

The same model - a KitchenAid counter depth 29 inch depth refrigerator was put in our new kitchen by a reputable contractor, in addition to a new KitchenAid dishwasher, stove and in counter microwave. The refrigerator lasted exactly 22 months at which time the freezer stopped working. We called a service repair man and he noted that it was a very serious problem - the entire cooling unit of the refrigerator needed to be replaced and would cost $1500-1600 to repair. He advised we buy a new refrigerator. We are in the process of doing so, as the repair man said the refrigerator portion of it may last 2 days or 2 weeks. This is totally unacceptable. I purchased a microwave oven, model KBMS1454SBL-1. About a year and a half into the product, the dashboard lights went out and stopped working. I went to the KitchenAid website and filled out their contact form in which they referenced I visit their service page. I filled everything out in on the service page. On that page it indicates the following: If your appliance is not under warranty or covered by a service contract, then the charge for the technician to come to your home will cover diagnosing the problem with the appliance, and a written estimate for the repair. To me that is vague. Does that mean that once the technician will do the repair, then I will be charged? Oh and also how much will I be charged? Well here is what happened. On March 23rd, 2013 I waited all day at home (wasting my time) waiting for this technician to come out. A representative from a company called A&E Factory Service came, looked at my unit and said, Oh, the dashboard doesnt work. It will cost $250 to replace it. I said, That is too much. Dont worry about it. I can order the part myself and do it myself as well. But it does not end here. He explained that now I have to pay him $129 for his service. I exclaimed why. He said, Well, that is what it costs! I was shocked. At no point did KitchenAid or A&E inform me of the cost for this service.April 26th I finally have time to call A&E and tell them I want a refund because no one at any point asked me if I wanted a service for $129. They explained that they would not give me a refund. I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with them and another 40 with KitchenAid, each blaming each other or saying that I should have assumed that it would not be free. But if KitchenAid does not state the cost and the contractor A&E doesnt explain how much prior to, how is that a fair practice? My service order number with A&E is **.I will never buy a KitchenAid product again. A&E explained that it does happen sometimes and that I should ask the KitchenAid management to do a conference call with A&E to get a refund. I called Kitchen Aid and they dont even consider the idea. They just say, Its not our problem. Your product is out of warranty so its not our problem. What a joke. A company that truly can give a rats ** about its products or customers! If I had wanted someone local to fix my problem like A&E and called them myself instead of doing the service through KitchenAid, A&E explained that they would have informed me prior to coming out. But because I did it through KitchenAid, then its not their problem. They are only supposed to show up, diagnose, collect money and then leave. Nice little partnership they got going! Screw the little guy, then waste his time and then try to overcharge for a part. Unbelievable! Never again! I will stick to brands that actually go out of their way and help their customers, whether a product is in warranty or not! Never again!

We purchased all new kitchen appliances last September, 2017. Bought KitchenAid mainly because my dishwasher just died after 27 years, so we were pleased with its quality. We bought the items in black stainless. The electric stove top is the hardest top I have ever cleaned, I am a little ocd and hate smear marks on my stove top, and also it seems that the only thing to use to get burnt on spots or food off, is an SOS pad, referred to me by the owner of the appliance store. Also the so called Aqua lift for cleaning the oven, even after doing it twice in a row, is a joke! Still had to go in and clean up the grease and burnt on stuff, and then soak up all the water!! Also when turning on the oven, it seems to take forever to heat up to your desired temperature. Very disappointed, and will never buy KitchenAid again!!!

In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year old KitchenAid. Shortly after it was installed, we discovered that the handle was improperly attached and one end stuck out, catching on clothes and tearing them. KitchenAid informed me, That was just the way it was on some units. I found that unsatisfactory, so they sent a technician out who basically did nothing. I called the retailer, who replaced the unit completely with a new dishwasher within a couple of weeks. The new unit was installed in January, 2014. It came with a one year manufacturers warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty good through 2019. Since we are at our second home much of the time, and use this dishwasher twice weekly on average, we thought we would be safe with the new unit, which had a properly installed handle, by the way. No such luck. Shortly before Thanksgiving, 2015, while the unit was less than two years old, the top pull-out drawer fell down, landing on the dishes below. We removed the top drawer/pull out unit, and tried running it without the top drawer, but no luck. The unit would not operate without the top drawer. I called the warranty company, Bankers Insurance. They dont cover mechanical parts, I was told. So I called KitchenAid, and the wait was so long I was directed to their website, where I was instructed to enter my zip code to find a service technician. So I did, and the results? NO SERVICE in my area... impossible to believe, with over a million people in my greater metro area! Nonetheless, I contacted the retailer, who gave me the name of a service company. Their technician came out today, took one look, and said that the problem was a repetitive one, a defective part that KitchenAid was replacing with metal parts. No more plastic -- they had so many issues with this part that they were in most cases repairing the defective parts at no charge. That of course, was not my luck when I called KitchenAid. Nope, no replacement. We are not showing any problems with that model! Exact words. Not their problem! But they would be happy to direct my call to the parts department where I could order the parts, and pay for them, of course. I spent over a thousand dollars on this dishwasher, it gets light use, is less than two years old, and it wont run without a cheap plastic pull out part that will cost me well in excess of $200 to replace, because they only sell the entire mechanism. My biggest regret? I specified KitchenAid for my dishwasher in my second home. Trust me, they are not what they used to be, nor is their customer service department.

They set up a repair appointment for the next week, they said if the repairperson had the glass they would fix it, otherwise they would order the part. I asked why they didnt tell them to bring the part, they said that was up to the repair people. I asked if there was any compensation for the meal in the oven covered in glass, they stated they dont do that. I asked if this was a recurring problem, she never did really answer, except to say that it is glass and glass does break. This issue really should be revealed when purchasing, and the extent of the problem revealed and pursued. If anyone had been in the kitchen at the time, they definitely would have gotten hurt.

I purchased three appliances from KitchenAid in December 2005: a dishwasher, double oven and a microwave. The microwave only lasted three years and had to be replaced. I had to repair the dishwasher in 2009 and the double ovens twice, once in 2012 and once in 2013. The customer service has been terrible every time I have to deal with them since 2009.

Very quiet, does a great job of cleaning dishes, even those with baked or dried on food, and has good capacity. It has an added top shelf for flat items. The dishwasher is very quiet. I’ve had no problems with this dishwasher.

Having purchased an entire kitchen of KitchenAid products, almost every one has broken - more than once. While the company repaired the dishwasher handle the first time it broke, they refused to fix the dishwasher door, which flops open dangerously. I paid over $100 to have it fixed. Now that the microwave, which comes on spontaneously, must be fixed, theyve agreed to that, but not the handle that broke off or the faux-stainlesss/plastic vent cover that ironically fell on the floor days after the call. Turns out they now admit that the dishwasher door is a chronic problem and theyll cover it, but in astonishingly rude tones, refused to fully fix or replace the microwave, even though I have paid for defects they now acknowledge. Instead, theyve invited me to buy a new vent cover at my own expense, investing additional money in their plainly substandard appliances. Or, I can buy a new KA microwave = at 15% off?! (To be clear, I would sooner set $649 on fire and use the flame to cook). Customer service is, at the corporate level, woefully rude and disinterested in customer satisfaction, seemingly having deaf and numb to their growing number of angry consumers. Amazingly, I visited a friend in L.A. who has the same appliances. And the same problems.

The oven (model # KGRK806PSS01) was put in self clean mode. I came back to the kitchen later and found it had powered off; the oven glass was shattered and hot pieces were falling on the floor. After letting it cool down, I unplugged it. I later plugged it back in; still, it had no power and the self clean oven door latch will not unlock. Oven is completely useless now. The glass and parts alone to fix it are over $450 plus a service call & labor would put it closer to $600. I bought this at Sears about 5 years ago and they referred me to KitchenAid. KitchenAid finally offered to fix it for $370; however the glass is on back-order for 3 months. I see many similar complaints online and judging by the long back order on the glass, Im sure there are a lot of other people in my boat. I reluctantly ended up taking KitchenAids offer and I will not buy KitchenAid again.

We have had nothing but trouble with our new refrigerator (Counter depth refrigerator with French doors on top), which was delivered Aug 14th 2017. By Aug, it quit. We had to get everything out to save it, hauled it to our daughters extra refrigerator and freezer, and it took 3 1/2 wks to get it fixed. The computer board went out and of course, it had to be ordered. We didnt get our refrigerator back until sometime in Sept. Then, just before Christmas, it quit again. Finally got someone out between the holidays to take a look at it, and of course, it couldnt get fixed until the 3rd of Jan because a panel was out on the new computer board. There is a serious design problem with this refrigerator, and KitchenAid will not replace it or refund our money. Not a reputable company! Theyve cut corners on their products and are not the quality they used to be. Steer clear! We are in our 18th home and have had many refrigerators over the years. This is the worst. I also have a brand-new KitchenAid microwave that has been fixed and replaced because it had issues. Just wouldnt buy this brand.
