Last night our KitchenAid oven locked at the end of an hour long chicken bake at 350 degrees. I turned the bake knob off immediately. Within 15 minutes, the inside of the oven was on fire. Firemen arrived and by then, the glass front was broken and they put out the flames. Luckily, it was contained within the oven but of course, time for a new range now. Approx 10 years of use was fine for many years but this computer problem of locking and the very hot self cleaning feature just coming on by itself is ridiculously unsafe! Who knew a product could be so poorly designed that it would do this, start a fire by self locking and then heating up to serious temperatures!

I purchased this model in March and had it for four weeks when the freezer dipped down to zero degrees and the refrigerator went up to 65 degrees. The store where I bought it immediately exchanged it. In less than a month the freezer in the new refrigerator went down to 6 degrees. Someone came to replace a part. It was defrosted and plugged in again but has not gone past 6 degrees. I have lost a lot of money in food and KitchenAid will not reimburse. The store where I bought this piece of junk is replacing it with an LG.

I dont have to rinse the dishes and they come out sparkling clean and dried. We can sit in the kitchen and hardly know it is running. Its the best one I have ever had. Would recommend it over and over. You might have to pay a little more, we did but it was worth it.

We decided to purchase a Kitchen Aid dishwasher (KUDC10FXSS) to replace our Whirlpool dishwasher in the spring of this year. We have had nothing but problems with it. I noticed that it was running through rinse aid very quickly and then completely shut down. We were told that it needed a new control board, which was then replaced. It took three weeks to get this part in because it was on back order. Less than a week later, the rinse aid began pouring out from the dispenser, so once again a repairman came out and told us that we must have a bad dispenser so that was replaced next. Even with the new dispenser, I am now having to add rinse aid every two weeks and have a terrible film on my glasses and dishes. I called the business where we bought it and they sent out the same repair guy, who told me that he doesnt know why its going through rinse aid so quickly and that he would research it for me. Well, its been three weeks and no word from him or the business which he works for. We asked to replace this dishwasher because we think its a lemon and we were told that unless we have three separate incidents with it, Kitchen Aid will not replace it. We are very frustrated and will not buy any Kitchen Aid products in the future!

Purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 9/2012. Within the first year it required service on its electronic board. This was done under warranty. I purchased a service plan which covered the dishwasher until 8/18/2015. Of course the dishwasher didnt break down again until 9/8/2015. This dishwasher cost close to $2,000.00. For that kind of money it should last longer than 3 years. I will never buy a KitchenAid again.

I have a 6-year-old Stoves dual fuel range cooker. Sure, its out of warranty, but now it only functions as a hob! The thermostat on the main oven failed last year. Stoves cant fix it because the company that made it has gone out of business (no thought of doing anything about it). Now the interior glass shielding on the secondary oven decided to shatter last night. I cant expect anything to last, but in these times, I expect that something would be fixable. I will never buy anything by Stoves again. It was an expensive item around $1500, so not exactly bottom of the range! But it definitely is bottom of all ranges!

We purchased a complete line of Kitchenaid appliances back in January 2018. Our Frigidaire refrigerator (purchased in 2004) needed replacing (after 14 years!) and thought it was best to replace our other dependable appliances due to age. Within 1 month a repair person had to come and replace the freezer door due to a crack in delivery. The repair person urged that I buy an extended warranty on my appliances due to their lack of reliability and quality. I wish we had listened (but I believe a company should build and back up their products...Im old school). Now our oven starts when it chooses to. Works one minute. Hour later nothing. Our neighbor has had the same experience with her 3 year old Whirlpool oven (parent company). She was told it (after numerous attempts to repair) that she needed a new circuit board at the cost of $495. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT PURCHASE KITCHENAID OR WHIRLPOOL appliances unless YOU believe an extended warranty covers their lack of quality.

KitchenAid Model KUDS30IXBL Purchased from Lowes 3-29-14. Within a few months of purchase, the top rack wheel broke off. Within 2 years, it would cancel and drain within 15 minutes of start up. This began just before Thanksgiving. :( Repairman came out since we purchased the warranty and replaced the rack holder with new metal parts and the front computer. First load of dishes after repair, it cancelled and drained within 15 minutes of start up. Id rather go back to old fashioned nobs and dials.

I have had to replace my top light in my refrigerator twice already. Well today I opened the refrigerator to clean and once again smelled a burning plastic smell. Yep, looked up and the lights had fallen again and was melting the plastic that covers the top light. This is a huge fire risk. Thank God I have caught it all three times now before it starts a fire. KitchenAid will be getting a call from me first thing in the morning. My parents always purchased KitchenAid products and I have up until this point. Guess its time to find a new family brand that will be safe to have in our home. I would not recommend a KitchenAid refrigerator to anyone at this present moment.

Ordered dishwasher (Model # KDFE304DWHO) 3-9-15, Lowes delivered & set up 3-25-15. Dishes not getting clean on any of the settings, scum accumulates behind the door on bottom, stainless steel inside stays wet & there is an odor. Repair man came 8-14-15, said I was using too much soap, told me to put soap in prewash cup only. Same day I called KitchenAid, Ester told me to put 1 dishwashing tablet in the main wash cup only, use a rinsing agent, run my dishwasher thru a clean cycle monthly (where is the clean cycle?) & do not prewash my dishes. Ester told me all about her mother owning the same dishwasher only a SS. I told Ester we have had dishwashers for many years & I have already tried all the troubleshooting that was required many times. I told her I wanted to exchange the dishwasher, this was not an option. She told me if I requested another service call, I would have to pay for it. I believe KitchenAid wants to stall you so your warranty will run out then say sorry.

We bought a KA fridge KSF26C7XYY04 with an extended warranty service plan. Thank goodness! We have had 3 service calls in a 6 month period. The fridge is only 2 years old. The evaporator and ice dispenser motor had to be replaced. I just called again because once again the freezer is not working. I have thrown out food 3 times now. I have a 5-hour service repair window every time the company that services the warranty comes out. Last time the part took so long to come in that I waited for almost 4 weeks to get my fridge fixed. This purchase has been a total nightmare! If we did not have the warranty, KA would not even talk to me. There is zero customer service. I was actually told today that with the internet I should have done my homework by their own customer service! That says it all. Sad state of affairs. I will never buy a KA appliance ever again. Once the warranty runs out and I cant get them to continue to fix this fridge, I will take the loss and buy a new non-KA fridge. This company completely sucks. All 3 drawers on the fridge side are broken. Same issue where the face of the drawer has come off. I had one drawer replaced which broke again. KA wont stand behind their poorly made product. They want me to buy them for $125/drawer. I refuse to spend any more money on this piece of poorly made appliance. I duct tape them! SO sad.

We spent $665.11 on a microwave that lasted 1 year and 2 months. As is does not fall into their 1 year warranty, they refuse to help or compensate in any way. We had the same issue with a $900 dishwasher we purchased from KitchenAid a couple of years ago. BOTH appliances stopped working after exactly 1 year! It would seem that they are in the business of manufacturing CHEAP China appliances that break shortly after their warranty so you must purchase another one.Customer service is no help at all. They just read from a script repeating the same sentence over and over again. Other companies like Black & Decker and GE have much better customer service and ability to help customers when their products do not work. Would shop from them instead! The broiler element on my KitchenAid range (Model No. KGSS907) came on by itself and stayed on. I was in the living room, and the first I knew was the smell of burning. Not only did it come on, I couldnt turn it off, the control panel being non-functioning. To stop it, I had to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, nothing else worked. Now I am afraid to leave the range alone. This is a big problem since I travel a lot. I was recently away in Europe for a month. Can you imagine what could have happened if the stove came on during that month? Normal practice for any controls designer is to make sure that any failure goes to the off position, but that apparently that does not apply to KitchenAid. Does anyone know of a recall?

Two years ago, we brought 5 items from KitchenAid. Basically, we spent over $10,000.00 and we have nothing but breakdowns. I did not extend our warranty as this would cost us over $800 a year plus I thought. Why buy a warranty as I should be buying quality? Well I was WRONG. First, the Refrigerator had problems, but they were able to fix that (in the first year). Second, the range kept clicking. That took two service trips (first year). Third, cannot remember actually but we had a problem with the double oven. Fourth, the refrigerator was leaking and ruin by built in cupboard as we did not realize the problem straight away (second year), pay just over $200 and had to put one of those metal door plates over the bottom of the cupboard as it was soak so had to cut the bottom off.Fifth and last I hope, press self clean on oven and you guessed it, burnt out the oven. Cost of repair nearly $900. When I spoke to customer service, they told me basically, Tough luck. You should have brought the extended warranty. I am finding out that this is a problem with Whirlpool self clean ovens. But my argument is that this feature does not work so I should not be held responsible for this. Customer Service answer was YOU SHOULD have BROUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. So beware. If you are thinking that buying KitchenAid is Quality, THINK AGAIN. Will never buy or endorse KitchenAid again unless they step up to the plate and recognize their mistakes. Really, why buy quality if they can only support it with 1 year warranty (thats a red flag)? Because every major kitchen appliance from any brand gives you 1 year warranty. Thank you for reading this. Now you know the pitfalls.

I had an old KitchenAid microwave that Sears could not fix, so they offered a $575 credit replacement for it. I went to Sears and the one they stated was the same one was on sale for total of $484.49, so I ordered it and a week later it was installed. With just the two of us, we barely used it. Three weeks later while doing a baked potato in it on sense position, it caught on fire melting the plastic inside. They came out and stated it wasnt repairable so now they would only give a replacement value of the $484.49, so I had to add money to it just to get another microwave. Only this time I bought a GE. It should be here on Saturday and I hope it lasts longer then the KitchenAid did. Do not buy KitchenAid KHMS 2040, it will catch on fire.

I have replaced my stainless steel Kitchen Aid dishwasher twice in the past 9 years. The first time there were issues with the motor/electrical. My current one continues to have problems: electrical issues, wheels falling off, top basket not aligned ever. The product quality is so low. I cant believe I replaced it with another Kitchen Aid. My husband and I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 2 years ago and had our first problem when we opened the dishwasher for the first time. The bracket holding the third shelf was broken. The dishwasher had already been installed so we could not return it without a lot of problem. KitchenAid sent out a technician and he replaced the part. The rack opened with much difficulty but he said he could do nothing about that. Over the next two years the dishwasher had a slow leak that was not detected until we noticed black mold growing over the side and front of our cabinet next to the dishwasher. We called kitchenAid and they sent another technician who informed us that the leak was a result of the replacement bracket being installed incorrectly. When we again called KitchenAid to rectify the problem that they caused we were informed that it was not their problem and we had to pay for the part as well as a large bill for labour. We are completely dissatisfied with KitchenAid and their total lack of support of their customers. I would never recommend a KitchenAid appliance to anyone. They do not back their product unless you are willing to pay again and again. As I have noticed on some of the other complaints filed with consumer affairs re: KitchenAid dishwashers, we also have noted a bad smell from the dishwasher if the door has been closed. I was unaware that it was the result of the dishwasher not having a fan motor. What an inferior product it truly is. Had we known we would never have spent so much money to purchase their product.

Purchased a KitchenAid microwave in 2014 to replace a microwave with a broken door release mechanism. 3 years later, the same thing is happening to the KitchenAid. Door wont open when depressing the button. Seems to be a common occurrence if you check YouTube. The selling dealer offered to sell us a new one for $400. Wrote KitchenAid and was told the unit was out of warranty and if there was a problem, it would have shown up in the first few months of ownership. I didnt expect them to give me a new one for free, maybe just fix this one or offer some assistance with the expense. Two microwaves in 6 years? I will find another brand next time. In the past 8 year I have built 2 new homes on the upscale side of the housing market. In both situations I used higher appliances from KitchenAid. For the investment made, I am very dissatisfied with quality of the produce drawers. On both drawers, the chrome deco on the drawer handle has come loose dueto faulty adhesive and both drawers have cracked in the center of the drawer handles. This is something I would expect from a 300.00 refrigerator, not one over 2000 dollars @ builders cost. In addition, I had the ice maker replaced in 6 months due to a faulty board, which is something you as manufacturers are aware of, but failed to advise the consumer. We have replaced the ice maker board and now will address replacing both produce drawers. I must say that after less than one year of ownership and facing the fact that all the other series of appliances are also KitchenAid products, I am waiting for the next problem to occur. I come from a family of builders, both residential and commercial and intend to advise them to consider other upscale appliance manufacturers on future projects. If this letter never goes up the management ladder I am sure I will receive the same reply as my last e-mail, indicating that your Customer Service Department also needs repair. Being an owner of several national companies myself, I am very aware of the damage that can be done by not reacting to a problem, where consumers are involved. Thank you.

We purchased a new Kitchenaid refrigerator and double oven wall unit when we moved into our new home March of 2010. We have had issues with the ice maker/water dispenser not working. The temperature Not staying cold. The veggie tray LID fell off. Now its dead! The repair man did not have an answer, he made many phone calls and theyve decided its the motherboard, which will cost us $500 and a week to get in. Well then it started working, then it died, right now its cooling. The Ice/water in the door was so gross - from water and ice? Theres no way to take it apart to clean. After months of trying to clean the black mold out of it, I finally found a hand held steam pressure cleaner to clean it. I WANT TO SAY THAT I HAVE A 30 YEAR OLD REFRIGERATOR in my garage thats still working. Its NOT a KITCHENAID! Then theres the double ovens, that are self-cleaning thats a joke. When I lock the oven to clean it, it blows a circuit and we have to call someone to fix it. The last time the guy said I wouldnt use it. Its NEVER worked, and that was the reason I bought it. BUT I have to clean the ovens by hand because the advertised self cleaning was just a lie. At this point I would rather buy a refrigerator that I can rely on. I tell everyone, Do not buy Kitchenaid. Upper rack was over designed with too many moving features causing inherent weaknesses in plastic components. One year after use started the first plastic tabs started breaking. Without buying a whole new rack there was only one option. Had to figure out stainless steel bolts and nuts to replace broken tabs. Tedious but do-able. I believe most people (probably 95%) do not adjust the racks anyway because they are complicated to adjust. Why build things that break? Just keep it simple! Otherwise this dishwasher works great. It is very quiet and washes well. Clean look. If they would make the upper rack as simple as the bottom rack it would be bullet proof. But no, the Kitchenaid engineers and marketing people had to complicate it by putting in breakable features most people do not use. Thanks for messing up an otherwise great product. Now figuring out my fourth set of bolts to keep the upper rack in place and gliding like it should.

When we plugged the fridge in, it was making a very loud noise and many of our contractors said it was abnormally loud and I should call Pacific Kitchen & Home/Best Buy. When I did, I was told to talk to the Geek Squad and then call KitchenAid directly. That was the beginning of long wait times on the phone, automated voice messages, getting disconnected after providing endless details (they cannot call you back) and waiting to speak with a human that could take action. When I finally did speak with someone they argued with me about the date of purchase (which I have the receipt for) and how loud the noise was. They refused to replace the fridge and sent someone out. The first time I sat home for 8 hours and no one showed up. They rescheduled. The second time, they said they would be there between 8 and 12. They didnt show up and said they would come at 2. I was not able to wait, so I asked to cancel, and they said they couldnt cancel the appointment after the driver was already en route. They showed up and no one was here. When I called to reschedule they said that I wasnt there for my appointment which I explained was not the case. Then they fixed the fridge but not the dent or the rust on the front door. So I started the process all over. Finally after many calls and arguments, asking them to just replace the door, they refused and sent me free stainless steel cleaner. Pacific Kitchen & Home agreed to replace the fridge since they thought KitchenAid should have done this. The new fridge came the end of September. The ice maker stopped working early December (who needs ice during the peak holiday season?) So I made another appointment and they then canceled it, a few days before. Today the repairman came (12/29) and said that he didnt have the parts. He will be back next Friday. So this is the general gist of my experience so far. When the repair person arrives he is polite and does his best. Pacific Kitchen & Home have also tried their best (by replacing the fridge in September). The bottom line is that KitchenAid produced a poor-quality product, would prefer to fight with the consumer than provide service, and sends their repair people out without the required parts. It is important to note that this fridge was over $2600 and I have now had to take time off from work, on four occasions, and it is still not working. I have had THE SECOND fridge in my house for three months. It is still not working properly and failed during the month that I have the most people at my home. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND going elsewhere with your business.

Bought the Kitchen Aid French Door Counter Depth (Model KBFS20EVMS9) from Lowes in Feb. 2012, and the 4 year extended warranty. It just started leaking on the floor, had the drain tube replaced. Leaking stopped but freezer is STILL forming ice inside. And I have no water feature or ice cube maker so I dont understand what the deal is. Maybe just a shoddy product? Another service call is scheduled. I get a feeling this isnt the last of it. I may end up hiring two strong guys to haul it down to Benton Harbor Michigan and dump on their front doorstep.

My KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS35FX is 18 months old and has worked fine up until a few days ago when it just went completely dead. I didnt buy the extended warranty because I think they are a ripoff. I immediately started looking online for possible causes and solutions. It quickly became apparent that the problem was the thermal fuse. I called KitchenAid customer service 3 times, trying to get them to give me some help and what I got was ticked off. The first thing they told me was that I need to make sure and run hot water into the sink before starting the dishwasher, because the thermal fuse was overworked trying to get to the optimal temp, in this case when it failed, because I had the dishwasher set to sanitize. My issue is that I almost always start the washer right after dinner when I have finished rinsing off the dishes in hot water. They argued that the water needed to be 105, and I asked who in hell stands at the sink with a thermometer checking water temps? Why would they use such cheap and flimsy parts on a machine that I spent close to $900 on? If theres a sanitize feature, why do I have to worry that its going to wreck my machine? Next, they asked what temp my hot water heater is set at and did I know it was supposed to be 120. I said thats right where mine is. Then they suggested I could still spend $250 for their extended warranty and my repair would be covered. They refused to acknowledge that they are fully aware of these defects and refuse to make good on them. It is their cheap design and my tough luck. I called for repairs from the business that I bought the machine from and the tech told us that there is a harness kit for the wiring to keep it stable that KitchenAid came up with, because the connections would become loose from vibration, thus burn out the fuse when it became stressed. So they know they have a problem and they created a fix for it, but dont just fix it on their dime. They expect the consumer to do it. The service call and part cost me $170. I dont have money to waste on this ripoff.

04/06/2018 - Purchased french door refrigerator (KRFF507E). 09/30/2019 - First repair. Refer making noise and not cooling. Evap fan hitting ice buildup Tech replaced evap fan and thermistor assembly (took over an hour to remove ice build up). Tech also reprogrammed defrost cycle from auto-detect to every 8 hours.02/19/2020 - Second repair. Same problem as first repair except evap fan not destroyed. Contacted KitchenAid service basic response was too bad, so sad. I explained that the problem was a design flaw, not a faulty part problem but that fell on deaf ears. After a bit of debate service stated that replacement parts (from 2/2019) were under warranty. Service tech ended up replacing same parts and a control board. Again, over an hour to remove ice buildup. 08/08/2020 - Third repair scheduled for 8/17/2020. Sour milk, refrigerator temperature running about 57 degrees F. Ice buildup again, waiting for Tech to diagnose. Again KA Service response was too bad, so sad. Service authorized a $50 reimbursement card, which covers about half of technician service charge (not parts). The refrigerator was purchased to replacing an ancient (15 yr+) kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator/freezer that is still keeping my beer cool and my deer meat frozen! I will never purchase a kitchenaid refrigerator again (maybe anything from Whirlpool).

When I updated my kitchen I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2007 and it was installed in 2008. It was serviced once under warranty... smoke coming out of the hood. Since then I have had it repaired twice. Once for the chopper not working correctly. It took the service rep five minutes to fix it and he was embarrassed that he charged me more than $100.00 to fix it. The service advisor was recommended by KitchenAid. Since then I have had to replace the silverware dispenser and now I have to replace the soap dispenser because a piece of plastic no bigger than 1/4 of an inch broke off. The part was 68.00 with shipping 86.00... ripoff... and now I have to pay a repairman to install it. ALL over this piece of plastic. I will never buy a KitchenAid product again.... and hope that lots of consumers read this and follow my advice.

We purchased a NEW KitchenAid refrigerator 24 months ago. We were advised by family to always buy extended warranty on refrigerator regardless of brand because “they aren’t well made anymore.” We purchased warranty and accepted poor standard for expensive appliance. Within 1 yr the ice maker stopped working. Within 2 years the refrigerator side stopped holding adequate temperature. The warranty covered both repairs. What was more disappointing is the “styrofoam” part that was removed from the refrigerator. The service repair technician left the old part as evidence that they removed and installed true manufactured parts (from Whirlpool). I took pictures and will upload if that feature is available in this review. How much money did KitchenAid save by installing a large styrofoam part in their expensive product. It’s too bad consumers don’t have better options and shouldn’t expect more.

I owned a KitchenAid gas stove (model KGSA906PSS) since 2005. The control board has been replaced twice. The first problem I had I could not turn the stove off. The second problem was I could not turn the stove off, had to use the house circuit breaker. The final problem occurred today, I heard a continuous beeping sound in the kitchen and the stove was burning. The control panel was not on, the stove was extremely hot, smoke filled the kitchen and there was a continuous red glow on the back wall, inside the stove. I turned off the main breaker and call New York Bravest. If we were not home at the time our home would have surely been damaged by fire. I also have a nonworking Kitchen Aid (model KHMS155lSS) that has been serviced three times, no heat. Pay close attention to your appliances by Kitchen Aid. PROTECT YOUR FAMILY.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

After installing a Kitchenaid Microwave Convection oven we found that the door steamed to total fog, remaining this way often for 24-30 hours. After a service call and a recommendation to replace the unit by the service people, the exchange was denied by the product exchange department - who did not even have the grace to call and tell me of the denial. After protesting that 24-30 hours is not acceptable for a door to fog over (never has happened with any other microwave oven I have owned) was not normal, I was told point blank that the product exchange department has the last word and it is final. It is a $500 unit and I cannot believe that they would not just exchange it. I am a designer who specifies products often - I will not work with Kitchenaid again based on this experience.

INCREDIBLY BAD PRODUCT. The good: the format of a small micro/convection oven over a large regular/convection oven works nicely for me as I can cook almost everything in the small oven and don’t have to waste energy on large oven except special occasion cooking. That said, the electronics went out twice in first couple of years, had to be completely replaced. Now I’m never sure if oven will work on any given day.NEXT: the first time I tried to use the clean program, about a half hour in, I heard a very loud crash and rushed in to kitchen to find glass all over. The whole glass door exploded all over. I eventually got it replaced but now am afraid to use it again. The bell which signals “done” and the timer itself long since stopped working and the turntable doesn’t turn. Today I found the glass top part of the turntable in pieces large and small. I’ve no idea what caused this. I’m worried that a replacement brand will not fit into the custom built in space I will have when I try to dump this headache. P.S. Read my review of KA dishwasher and immersion blender, neither of which are favorable. I have learned my lesson about this brand.

On 2/20/06, I purchased a KitchenAid Dual Fuel Range, model #KGRA806. Its sad to say that it has been one of the worst appliances I have ever bought. I have had the range repaired twice (the thermal disc among other things). Last week, it died again and rather than throw good money, we decided to replace the range. I thought I was buying a high end quality appliance, but sad to say the quality control on the Kitchen Aid appliances has really hit a new low. In the interim my KitchenAid stand mixer has broken again. Considering the cost of repair, I probably will replace that also! I thought I was buying the Cadillac of appliance with KitchenAid but found out differently!

I have a KitchenAid Double Oven Gas Range. I read up on the oven before purchase and my purchase was due to the high ratings it received. I love the double oven, but I am very disappointed with the stainless steel stove top range. I consider my self pretty careful with my appliances, but taking care of the stove top is ridiculous. It scratches easily and within weeks of use, brown stains have formed around the burners which will not come off. Of course, you cannot use abrasives and stainless steel cleaner does not work. This oven is only a few months old and I planned on having it for a long time especially with the price paid and being a KitchenAid appliance which is known to be a reputable name. I am at a loss, I am hoping KitchenAid will stand behind their name and do something to make this right.

KitchenAid® 27-Inch Single Wall Oven, Architect® Series II - I purchased this Oven October 5, 2013. It was installed October 24, 2013. On December 31, 2013 it stopped working. I called for service and they could not get to me until January 6, 2014. The serviceman came out that morning and took a look at the oven and found that the fuse had blown in it. Lucky me they did not have one in stock and they had to order one. The fuse came in on January 8, 2014 and they came out and installed it. I did not use the oven again until January 14, 2014 because of some other issues in my kitchen. January 14, 2014 I turned it on and used it to bake something. It worked fine. I walked away from it after I was done baking and came back about 45 minutes later and it had died again. It will not come back on. My guess is that it is the fuse again. I would not recommend this oven to anyone!!!!! At this rate I will have a serviceman at my house every week to repair this oven. I called a supervisor at Kitchen Aid January 16, 2014 and they want me to keep the oven and they want to extend the warranty. This will happen when some place freezes over!!!!

I purchased the KFIS29BBMS French Door Bottom Freezer refrigerator in 12/13. On November 1, 2014 the refrigerator quit cooling and the freezer quit. Of course, we lost food. The dealership brought us a loaner refrigerator because it took several weeks for the part to be delivered. It was repaired on Dec. 12, 2014. On Christmas Day 2014 while we were gone, it quit working again. Again we lost food. It was picked up to be repaired by the dealership on 12/26/14. The old loaner fridge was brought back and I havent seen my refrigerator since. I have called Whirlpool corporation and have been given the standard warranty speech that they will repair it. I have asked for a new refrigerator to replace mine since it was less than 1 year old and obviously defective. Supervisor Chris was not helpful and said I shouldnt have bought the refrigerator if I didnt like the warranty. So count me in if a class action suit is started. I suggest we now go to social media and tell the stories.

Purchased a Kitchen aid dishwasher on 01/21/21 to replace a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that did not last 3 years. Was not what I wanted but beggars cant be choosers. Model number KDFM404KPSO, the first issue was that it smelled like an oil refinery when operating, and still does. Called the manufacturer, and was told oh that is the material they used to help with heat retention. It should dissipate in 6 months or so. Believe me that this smell was/ is nauseating. Second issue was the noise level. It was touted as one of the quietest on the market, believe me it is not. It was making noises that the service rep sent to check it out could not explain. Now scheduled for a complete rebuild after less than 2 months.Third issue. It does not get some of the dishes dry especially on the top racks, and yes we use a drying agent. Both kitchen aid dishwashers have proven unreliable, but at least while the old one worked it did not stink up my kitchen, and you could not tell it was running when standing over it. Will NEVER buy another product made by this manufacturer, and they make several different brands.

KBFS22EWMS4 bought this refrig in late 2012. All seemed fine till 5/2014. Water started leaking from the freezer door. Water had been leaking into the bottom of the freezer and eventually started spilling out on the floor when the defrost cycle ran. I called a tech and he took apart the freezer, cleared the defrost drain, unfroze it and all seemed fine. 1 year 4 months later the same thing again.I called the same tech and when he got here, he pulled out the refrig and took off the bottom back panel and then removed the little rubber drain plug/funnel. He said this was the problem and now he just removed them when he sees this issue. Hes seen this before. It was very sticky (he said) because of the heat. The rubber funnel is about an inch long and about 1/2 inch wide. It has a slit in the bottom of it for the water to pass through. Not a hole, a slit! No wonder the thing leaked, it would get so easily gunked up and with the rubber being so sticky Im sure the slit would stick together and probably make it much easier to freeze. Id call this an engineering issue.Who in their right mind would use a pliable rubber funnel with a small slit in the bottom, it defies logic. There probably should have been no funnel to begin with or at least a hard plastic one with a hole big enough to drain without getting gunked up. Well see if this fix takes. If not, Im buying another (non-Kitchenaid) refrig. Im not putting $100+ each year on the same fridge for something that should have been designed properly.

How does KitchenAid have an overall 4 star review on this site? All the recent reviews I have read sound SO familiar. All are equally deserving of the 1 star scored. Our experience is no different. We made the mistake of buying based on reputation. KitchenAid had a good reputation (past tense); thats about the sum of it. Very much appears the KitchenAid brand and reputation got flushed down the toilet when they went under the Whirlpool umbrella - both in terms of product quality and customer service. So, here is our story. We furnished our entire kitchen with KitchenAid appliances. Though we have had our appliances about 4 years, the failures started within months. The scratch resistant cook-top easily scratched. KitchenAid wouldnt honor. The bottom handle on the refrigerator has never attached correctly. KitchenAid doesnt seem to care. The dishwasher, however, is the gem! We have had to replace the soap dispenser three (3!) times. We have had to have the entire motor replaced. The wheels on the bottom tray ALL fell off. And, then just this evening, the digital control panel failed. Failure is the operational word here. KitchenAid appliances are a fail. Would NOT recommend to an enemy.

Bought this refrigerator 6/13/12 after home power surge destroyed our other KitchenAid refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY. We were very happy with the first one so decided to buy another, counter depth side by side. We had no problem the first year but shortly after the warranty expired, had an issue with hose connecting to freezer. After they realized it was a faulty part on the hose, they covered it. We have a wood floor in our kitchen so that also needed to be repaired. Thankfully, I decided to purchase the 5 year Extended Service Plan. We have used it three times, so far. We discovered water accumulating in bottom portion of the refrigerator and called service plan. In April, 2017, had the drain unclogged in fresh food side. Today I pulled out bottom drawer to find the same thing happening. It also had a lot of black mold on side of drawers and refrigerator. (I took lots of pictures). I set up appointment to have repair service come out to fix clog and also to check on why mold is appearing (probably related). Extended Service plan seems very responsive so I would recommend purchasing it.

I’ve had the cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave for three years. THREE YEARS!!! The refrigerator stopped cooling. The next day the freezer stopped freezing. We waited five weeks for the one and only repair company in our area, Guinco, to come out. Was told that a part, which was no longer under warranty $507, had malfunctioned. Waited another four weeks for the part to come in. When the part arrived they put it on and then discovered the condenser, which thankfully is under warranty, $1,000+, was no good. So now we’re having to wait another six weeks for the new condenser. Practically four months. That is totally absurd. Why they feel only one company in my state is authorized to work on these substandard appliances, I don’t know. Luckily we have an older refrigerator in the garage. My husband went out and bought a portable ice maker, also. I read on the website that Kitchenaid/Whirlpool products can last between 15-17 years. If that’s the case for the “few” products that do not last longer than three years, it should be an automatic replacement. That would be excellent customer service. Do not buy this product. Run, do not pass. Go as far away from this cheap as heck product. The product “looks” fabulous but it’s all a delusion. Again, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS CRAP PRODUCT.

Count me in the group of very angry KSSC42QTSOO refrigerator owners. My circuit board started to ting about one month ago. It was sent to CoreCentric 1 week ago, and Im hopeful to have a working refrigerator in another week or two. In my Google search of this problem, I came upon an interesting post (which I could not relocate today) that may be helpful to some. A realtor from Ariz posted her problem with the same circumstances; same circuit board part number (W10121049 and substitute board 10219462. She said her husband had experience with soldering and circuit boards and was able to repair their refrigerator with a $5 capacitor, purchased at Radio Shack. She said she had found out these boards had defective capacitors manufactured in South Korea. Sure enough, my repairman showed me the rounded top of the blown out capacitor on my circuit board... Dont scrap the fridge until you check all avenues. However, never buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

KUDS30IXBL Superba Series Dishwasher - Having the same issues as the other
KUDS30IXBL Superba Series Dishwasher - Having the same issues as the other owners have described. The control board has died three times in 2 years. When I called customer service they said the control board was under a 5yr limited warranty and that they would send out a technician to fix the dishwasher. Keep in mind they select the repairman who comes to your house to do the work. What they do not mention is that you are responsible to pay for labor, the initial diagnostic visit AND the second visit to actually fix the broken device. The day of the scheduled visit, the technician calls to remind me that there is a $70 charge to just come look at the device. What angers me most is that even though this is a repeat issue, and that Kitchenaid/whirlpool chooses the repair company (who should fix the issue right the first time), the company will not take care of the labor fee. Their official line is we just take care of replacement parts and that I should take up labor issues with the technician. I feel like this process is put in place intentionally to take advantage of their customers and to absolve themselves of any accountability for their poorly manufactured product. This company is perfectly fine letting their customers total cost of ownership grow out of control. At this point, I could have purchased another dishwasher just from the cost of repairs. To summarize, this dishwasher is garbage and the company treats their customers like garbage. Another example of that is that I also own the front loading washing machine that has mildew issues (currently in a class action lawsuit). Their defense is that their customers should know how to properly use a washing machine. This is a great example of a company that does not stand behind their product nor do they care about their customers. Im sure there will be a class action with this line as well.

The top basket of my 2011 KitchenAid dishwasher has begun to fall onto the dishes below. I called the manufacturer but was told that despite the wording in the instruction manuals warranty section, Second Through Fifth Year on Certain Component Parts, the problem was not covered, this despite the specific inclusion of nylon dish racks and electronic controls. I also purchased an extended five year warranty from H.H. Gregg for $149.99 but they too refuse to honor it. In other words I bought a defective product which the manufacturer refuses to stand behind while the retailer ripped me off for an additional 150 bucks. Needless to say Ill never buy from either company again.

Presently it is warm again. 56 degrees. It should be at 32 degrees. SO IF YOU DONT MIND THE INCONVENIENCE GO AHEAD AND BUY THIS TRASH!! TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS PRODUCT. Salesman assured me that this was a wonderful stove, etc., etc. so I was suckered into buying it. Soon after the purchase, I used the oven... and SURPRISE - the stainless-looking knobs heated so much that I couldnt touch them! Customer service told me that this is normal and even professional chefs have to use oven mitts on certain stoves. (Can you believe that!?) After several calls, I finally got a rep. who sent me black knobs that are made of more heat resistant material. (I wasnt charged for them, so that tells you that they wanted to keep me quiet). That should have clued me in on this product. After approx. 2 months, one of the circuits went out and had to be replaced. My biggest complaint now is the dirty inner glass of the oven door. I called customer service and was told that since the appliance is more than a year old, and out of warranty, they will have to charge me a service call for their technician to clean it. The woman told me that this is common for this particular range!! (Again, can you believe it!??) I told her that this is a design flaw and there should be a complete seal to prevent this. She disagreed, saying its been like this for over 17 years!! NEVER BUY A KITCHENAID! Read reviews and take them seriously... I wish I had!

We had remodeled our kitchen and bought all the appliances through hhgregg (which is another story). We bought the KitchenAid Architect Series II and have had an issue with the oven making clicking and whooshing noises every 55 seconds. It is the sound of the pilot light igniting in the oven. I have never heard this noise before with my old oven or anyone else for that matter. When we have the oven on, the noise is so loud and annoying! I put in a complaint to KitchenAid, but they told me that that was a normal sound. They sent a repairman out and he also said that that was a normal sound! Who has ever heard a loud ignition in their oven every 55 seconds? The customer service is horrible and the product stinks! Ill never buy from them again. Ill pay more next time and get the Jenny Air appliances. I had them for 18 years and never had a problem! How disappointing! We are stuck with a shabby appliance! Shame on KitchenAid/Whirlpool. Normal? Who are they kidding?

In June of 2012 I renoed my kitchen and bought brand new Architect II Series appliances. I thought that KitchenAid, being a good, reputable name, would equate to a quality product. 11 months later my freezer sprung a leak causing the floor of the freezer to be a solid sheet of ice. Ironically, the customer service rep actually admitted to me that that common problem isnt usually seen until the unit is about 13/14 months old, not 11. RED FLAG!!!! Guy came (under warranty), fixed it, poo poo poo, no re-occurrence. HOWEVER, the OTR microwave vent makes a lot of noise but doesnt suck the air well at all. Technician said that although other units have a stinger suction, since it has something he cant fix it.The oven doesnt signal when the desired temperature is reached and that has NOTHING to do with the options. The dishwasher has had a technician out to my home twice. At $85 for 15 minutes how many more times can I afford to call him? First time was that the water apparently wasnt heating up (even though it was steamy) and the second time the panel was just flashing nonstop. No actual problem there! Goodbye ** + tax! Now, the damn thing will not kick into the heat dry cycle. It washes, rinses and drains perfectly but when it is meant to heat dry it just shots off completely. No flashing code, no green clean light. And to top it all off very nicely, all 4 wheels on the sliding upper rack are broken. The teeth that hold them in place have simply broken off. Because of course, thats normal!!!!!! NOT.I am so frustrated with KA. I will never buy anything more expensive than a blender from them again. In my opinion, I should not have had these many issues with appliances 2 years old. My grandmothers Frigidaire avocado green stove and fridge set from 1959 still work perfectly!!!!!!!! If only products made today were made to last. And by last I mean longer than the 12 month factory warranty. :(

Dont you know that the oven shut down, and door is locked, and control panel is dead? I contacted KA to see what their remedy was. They are sending out a repairman, but will only cover parts, not labor. I was ticked off. I had a turkey to cook for Christmas and visitors are coming to stay for a week. It’s completely absurd to not have an oven to use. I asked the guy on the phone if there had been other issues reported on the same self-clean issue. He said no. Then he said that he didnt have access to personal records. Which is it? I am totally in for a class action suit as well. I’m waiting for a technician. It’s way to expensive of an appliance to have a repair 3 years later.

Not only was it costly, the top tray does not stay in and you have to hold it while filling the bottom tray. The two trays are so close together that you cannot use the utensils box to hold a knife or spatula or a large spoon. Even plates and cutting boards will stop the sprayer from rotating. In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year old KitchenAid. Shortly after it was installed, we discovered that the handle was improperly attached and one end stuck out, catching on clothes and tearing them. KitchenAid informed me, That was just the way it was on some units. I found that unsatisfactory, so they sent a technician out who basically did nothing. I called the retailer, who replaced the unit completely with a new dishwasher within a couple of weeks. The new unit was installed in January, 2014. It came with a one year manufacturers warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty good through 2019. Since we are at our second home much of the time, and use this dishwasher twice weekly on average, we thought we would be safe with the new unit, which had a properly installed handle, by the way. No such luck. Shortly before Thanksgiving, 2015, while the unit was less than two years old, the top pull-out drawer fell down, landing on the dishes below. We removed the top drawer/pull out unit, and tried running it without the top drawer, but no luck. The unit would not operate without the top drawer. I called the warranty company, Bankers Insurance. They dont cover mechanical parts, I was told. So I called KitchenAid, and the wait was so long I was directed to their website, where I was instructed to enter my zip code to find a service technician. So I did, and the results? NO SERVICE in my area... impossible to believe, with over a million people in my greater metro area! Nonetheless, I contacted the retailer, who gave me the name of a service company. Their technician came out today, took one look, and said that the problem was a repetitive one, a defective part that KitchenAid was replacing with metal parts. No more plastic -- they had so many issues with this part that they were in most cases repairing the defective parts at no charge. That of course, was not my luck when I called KitchenAid. Nope, no replacement. We are not showing any problems with that model! Exact words. Not their problem! But they would be happy to direct my call to the parts department where I could order the parts, and pay for them, of course. I spent over a thousand dollars on this dishwasher, it gets light use, is less than two years old, and it wont run without a cheap plastic pull out part that will cost me well in excess of $200 to replace, because they only sell the entire mechanism. My biggest regret? I specified KitchenAid for my dishwasher in my second home. Trust me, they are not what they used to be, nor is their customer service department.

I have a brand new Kitchen Aid Conversion Oven/Microwave combo. The way the microwave is designed, you open the door down, like an oven, toward you. Thus, my child opened the microwave, took out some warmed milk, and spilled it on the door as he was getting it out. Some of the milk seeped in between the glass of the door. Apparently, there is no way to clean it! It looks terrible!I called KitchenAid customer service and they told me this a cosmetic issue but a repairman could come and take the door apart for $129 to clean it! Clearly, this is a design flaw! Spills happen all the time with food preparation. The owner should be able to clean it themselves!!! There are no warnings about this in the instruction booklet. How is the consumer supposed to know they cant fully clean the appliance? Why isnt the glass sealed? I want the public to know about the design flaw in the appliance.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator just over 1 year ago and have been having issues with the ice maker since about month 10. I just dont understand how consumers are left holding the bad end of the stick with products that are sub-par when we purchase in good faith and even purchase extended warranties. I was asked when I called for service of the same issue for the second time in about a month, if I had called the manufacturer to inquire about the issue. I quickly responded that this is the very reason that I purchased a 3-year extended warranty and that I consider this to be her/the companys job to investigate and find out and not mine. I suggest before anyone purchases a major appliance to do a considerable amount of research to find out the good, the bad, and the ugly about the product. Otherwise, you will spend a lot of time being frustrated.

In 2006, we remodeled our kitchen, and in that process invested in Kitchen Aid appliances, including a side by side built-in stainless steel refrigerator. On August 11, 2014, the refrigerator stopped cooling, and we were told that the main control board needed to be replaced, and so the odyssey began. At the beginning of this ordeal, we were told that the part in question was ordered, was then on back-order, and would be shipped to our home in about three weeks. After three weeks, however, we were then told that the part was no longer manufactured because the factory was destroyed by a Tsunami two years ago! We acted on the corporations advice to send the defective board to Core Centric, which until very recently, Whirlpool was recommending to its customers in our same situation. Core Centric could not repair it, and we then sent the board to a company in Texas, also to no avail. The appliance repairman that we have been dealing with then ordered the part from Amazon/Sears, paid for it, waited two weeks for delivery, and when he contacted Sears, was told that the order was cancelled. After calling Whirlpool again, I was told that my file would be referred to a special department for possible inclusion in their pro-rated exchange program. I was told today that such a program would be offered to us because the company is supposed to provide parts for their appliances for ten years, and our appliance is less than ten years old. How lucky I feel to find out that I can exchange my eight-year-old built-in, which we purchased because it was marketed as an appliance that you repair, not replace, for the sum of $7,204.15!!! I was told that the new purchase price for my model would be $8,299.00. After further discussion, I was then told that the lowest price I could be offered to exchange my refrigerator, that cannot be repaired because the corporation has breached their obligation to provide parts for ten years for, would be $6,000.00. I was also told by the representative that I spoke with that she hears this same story all day long from other customers. SHAME ON YOU KITCHEN AID/WHIRLPOOL!!! (As an aside, thank God that my 20 year old Kenmore refrigerator in our garage still works perfectly, because we have now been without a kitchen refrigerator for 14 weeks).

Only option is to wait weeks for a refurbished board which may or may not work and for how long, no one knows. Not very much choice as this fridge had custom panels made to match the kitchen cabinetry and the panels will not fit any other fridge. Please let me preface my following KitchenAid experiences with stating... I am well educated with university degrees in science and mechanical disciplines. Further, I completely understand that machines can be complex and occasionally need maintenance/repairs. I do not consider myself a complainer or online-junkie. However, KitchenAid warrants my outcry and warning to other consumers.December 2015 we replaced every major appliance in our kitchen with top-of-the-line KitchenAid appliances. A bad $9000 decision! Within 9 months the French Door refrigerator had two major repairs including a complete tear-down of the unit to replace the compressor. Since then it has been running more loud! The dealer (Anthonys TV and Appliance in Midwest City, Oklahoma) would not authorize replacing the defective unit despite an expensive extended warranty that was purchased during original acquisition. At least, on the refrigerator, we had the extended warranty or the compressor replacement would have cost huge dollars.Within 6 months the expensive built-in oven had to be re-calibrated because the temperature was so far off. It takes FOREVER for the unit to pre-heat. The screen readout on the unit shows the pre-heat is on, Low, and customer service states there is not a correction. This is a known issue on forums!Currently the dishwasher is awaiting pump motor replacement and has already had (a) the water valves replaced and (b) the expensive upper rack assembly replaced because it literally fell apart from becoming too brittle in the plastic sliding mechanism (another known problem on forums). Three (3) expensive repairs (out of warranty) on a dishwasher in 24 months? Bad! The $900 microwave has a mind of its own and often starts running again after a cycle is complete. And, sometimes when we close the microwave door, the unit starts running by itself necessitating the opening and closing of the door 2-3 times until the unit remains off. Bad!In summary... we purchased KitchenAid over Korean brands Samsung and LG in part to support the Made in USA label. Also, prior to purchase I contacted three appliance repair companies in the Oklahoma City area to ask their advice on brands that had good reputations for reliability and availability of parts. All three of the appliance repair companies recommended KitchenAid because Samsung and LG were reputed as having poor parts availability and did not offer training to techs as well as KitchenAid/Whirlpool Corp. does. Well, the Korean companies may have supply-side problems but... KitchenAid has very poor quality problems! To date we have had six (6) service calls and spent $100s to repair a suite of top-of-the-line KitchenAid appliances within 24 months of acquisition. That is unacceptable and I do not recommend KitchenAid to anyone. Avoid KitchenAid appliances. KitchenAid appliance have very poor reliability record. KitchenAid appliances are expensive to repair. KitchenAid appliances break down often. KitchenAid appliances are overpriced. KitchenAid appliance dealer (Anthonys TV and Appliance in Midwest City, Oklahoma) will not authorize replacement of lemon units and instead choose to force expensive warranty repairs onto customers, resulting in big cash flow to dealer from Whirlpool Corp. The dealer makes money and the customer must live with appliances which have lost factory integrity. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID APPLIANCES.

I purchased model KDTE104ESS1 in the Spring of 2017. The motor failed after 2 years of light use. We were advised that it would be $550.00 to replace the motor. Their response was swift and simple-- they would do absolutely NOTHING! No discount for a new motor/repair, no coupon/rebate for a new KitchenAid dishwasher-- absolutely NOTHING. They are completely unwilling to stand by their product. Makes my decision easy - I will never again spend a penny on any KitchenAid product. RUN- Invest your purchasing dollars with a company willing to do the right thing and stand by its Products. I will be purchasing another dishwasher and IT WILL NOT BE KITCHENAID.
