All 4 of my KitchenAid appliances (Superba dishwasher, range, slide-out hood, and fridge) are not working properly or not working, period. Its going to cost me over $1000 to fix them. I called customer service, spoke to the supervisor, but was told theres no extended warranty. So, I am solely responsible for the repairs. Its no surprise. Had I had problems with one appliance, Id probably be ok. But all 4? We thought we were purchasing quality appliances that would be dependable and lasting! All 4 are 11 years old, and in year 5, we had our first problem. Now, theyre all worthless! If the control panel for 3 of them is bad, that has to be inferior design. I will not purchase another KitchenAid appliance, and I will discourage others from doing the same.

The design of the microwave section of the oven has the door opening down. You cannot remove it. Unless you are 6 feet tall and or an orangutan reaching the back of the microwave to clean the area that gets the dirtiest is next to impossible when you are a normal size person. In addition, periodically it decides that when you’re microwaving something, it just it doesn’t want to and it shuts off.

I purchased a new KitchenAid dishwasher 1 year ago! Model #KDTE104ESS. It’s a piece of garbage. I was taken by KItchenAid. The dishwasher has tore up 2 times and had to have the repairman. Before it was a year old. It still doesn’t work correctly! It doesn’t clean the dishes. I prewash the dishes before I put them in. I paid almost $1,000.00 for this dishwasher and it doesn’t clean the dishes at all. I have to rewash the dishes by hand. It was a waste of money. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid product. Buyer beware.

My built-in side-by-side stopped cooling almost a MONTH ago. I did call a highly rated Yelp repair company but they were honest and said that since it was still under limited warranty I should work directly with KitchenAid. Let me keep it short... Its ugly. KitchenAid is deliberately slowing down service and forcing me to work with someone who has terrible Yelp ratings. In fact I have spent $1,000 with this company and even though he claims to be able to diagnose the issues - KitchenAid tech backs him up - as of today my unit is having the same exact issue. We have replaced a heating coil that required 6 hours of labor (KitchenAid confirmed) and a compressor.I called another service company who indicated it is a simple problem that can be fixed easily. When I called KitchenAid and explained this, the customer service guy actually fought with me...refused to speak to me any further unless I gave him the phone number and name of the other company. They were so concerned that one of their authorized repair companies was questioned that they tried to intimidate me into thinking I was going to lose support. Bottom line - I asked for a supervisor and she was understanding. I begged her to send different service company but she refused. As I write this, my $12,000 refrigerator/freezer is not working, despite KitchenAid forcing me to spend $1,000 with their service person. It also still sounds like the engine from a small commercial plane, even though prior to that it was so silent. And no refrigeration still. And guess what? My service repair person will not call me back. KitchenAid is clearly trying to stall until warranty runs out. I will never buy another one of their products. To top it off, it is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

Although it was fairly expensive, this is the best microwave we have owned to date. It is mounted in the wall (along with the regular oven) and is extremely quiet. The door opens down like a regular oven door. It is all stainless steel inside so is very easy to clean. You can cook with it as a regular convection microwave or if you want to cook pizzas or something like that, it has an upper heating element and the oven will heat to 450 degrees.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side fridge from Sears ten months ago. I have since had it serviced for four times and Im now going on my fifth. This time around, I will have replaced nearly every part in the fridge. My complaint is not only with regards to the condition of the product and Sears failure to take responsibility for it (not to mention all the food Ive had to throw out), but the fact the Sears service department makes it extremely difficult to get them to come out in a timely matter.Last time we checked our fridge, it was 60 degrees. According to Sears, it would be a minimum of one week before they could come out and repair the fridge, even though our last repair guy had the part needed to fix the fridge shipped directly to our home. The part is currently sitting on our kitchen counter. I guess my question is, is there a lemon law that protects my family from Sears and the obviously faulty item that they sold us? If so, I would like this fridge replaced. Im very much considering contacting an attorney. What are your thoughts?

25 month old KERS505XSS Electric Double Oven Range - Apparently, the self-cleaning cycle of KitchenAid ranges should not be used! After reading about the problems people are having with the self-cleaning cycle on KitchenAid ranges, we had a different problem. After using the self-cleaning cycle, a three-inch long section of the lower front corner of the Interior Porcelain coating was missing creating a deep groove where grease would collect. The KitchenAid Customer Service Department has a stock answer, We do not cover that problem! When we told Customer Service that we were worried about grease collecting in the groove and starting a fire, we were told Thats very simple, do not use the top oven!

Model #KDTE204DSSo purchased approximately 18 months ago for over $1,000.00. Heat element stopped working and had that replaced. Still didnt work. Was then told it was probably a control panel issue. Also for several months had to do an additional rinse as the dishwasher retained soap. This was our second dishwasher purchased in two years. Obviously, appliances are not made to last anymore. We had an old Inglis dishwasher that lasted for over fifteen years. My advise. Buy the cheapest one and if you get two years out of it, toss and replace!

Bought fridqe 5/30/13. First Geek squad guy was at our home in August due to water dripping inside fridge. Geek squad was out at least 7 other times, replaced everything inside stove too (kept turning itself off). Bought extended warranty from Whirlpool, but not really whirlpool. Assurance is extended warranty company? Started sending AAA appliance out, theyve replaced everything inside at least once, some twice. Still doesnt make ice and leaks. They call whirlpool but apparently should be calling Assurance. AAA can’t fix it, told whirlpool it needs to be replaced. Assurance knows nothing about it? What a nightmare. Ill never buy whirlpool again. Just want what I paid for!!

Stay away from the Steam Oven. We purchased this double wall oven which is a high-end Steam Oven on October 9, 2014. I cleaned it for the first time last week. The door does not seal between the panes. They are now streaked. There are big stains in the floor of each oven from the steam cooking. This is not able to be cleaned. I called Kitchen Aid, 800-422-1230. I was told the staining is normal. It is considered cosmetic and not covered under warranty. The doors are also cosmetic, even though I would need a repair man to disassemble the doors in order to clean them. I would not purchase this high-end item again, EVER. Although it cooks wonderfully, I want it to look clean. I am going to pull out the oven and purchase a different unit because having a double wall oven that cannot be cleaned is out of the picture in my house, as I am sure it is in yours.

The oven bakes perfectly even though it takes a while for the oven to reach temperature. The top electric 5 units are wonderful. I love the 3 racks. One has a handle type opening in the front and extends all the way out. The electronic display is easy to read and convert to convection baking or broiling. I havent tried the steam bake option yet, perhaps today when I make cookies. Repair shop recommended not using the auto clean as it heats to 800 degrees. So hello baking soda.

I absolutely love my KitchenAid dishwasher. It is so quiet you cannot tell is running. It is energy-efficient and the temperature of the water can be increased if necessary. There are three racks in the machine. The very top rack is flat and holds either cooking utensils or knives, forks, and spoons. That rack can also be removed if you prefer. The machine also has a special feature where you can place bottles directly on individual water spouts that will shoot up into the bottle for a perfect cleaning. The other thing I love about it is Shane is that it has a removable cover that goes over the normal utensil holder automatically separate utensils so they will not stick together during the washing process.

After having a KitchenAid dishwasher that ran well for 11 years, we purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher from Sears on 6/11. This was model KUDS30FSSX2. In November of 12, wheels came off the upper rack and soon after, the motor wouldnt start. It would hum and then not go further in cycle. We had a repairman look at it. He said the motor was bad and that KitchenAid would not replace it. We paid for a replacement (about $400). The wheels on the upper rack were replaced after we complained to Whirlpool. There was never one trip here. They had to call for parts which were sent in about a week. Now, the motor will again not start and we are waiting to get help again. We never talk to the same person twice. The reports above match our experience. This is the same experience we had many years ago with our SAAB auto. They of course are now out of business and their employees lost their jobs. Im sure the execs were well compensated. KitchenAid and their owner, Whirlpool, are headed for the same future. I feel sorry for the employees, but this is what will happen when quality and buyer satisfaction no longer counts. Needless to say, we will never purchase another KitchenAid product or a Whirlpool made product which are marketed under names like Kenmore, etc. Sears too has been no help.

I bought a new French door with bottom freezer refrigerator in July 2010. I had continued problems with the seals on the French doors and the doors not closing properly. Also, the ice maker is freezing over. After 4 warranty service calls, the problems were never fully resolved. Now, we have water which flows into the freezer compartment and freezes on the bottom. Once its full, the water flows onto our wood floors. This was a fairly new model for KitchenAid at the time of purchase and I would recommend do not purchase this style. The ice maker storage in the door is heavy and the doors do not seal properly, leading to a host of other issues.

The racks are now rusting out as they come with nonpermanent little plastic caps at the end of the racks. During a dinner party the week before Christmas, the oven door exploded in my 2 month old, second use of Superba model #KEB-277, which original cost is nearly $2,500. It took me being a proactive consumer, spending about 1/2 hour a day for 6 weeks for the final repair to take place. The first warranty repair company just did not show up for an appointment. Finally, it took to making two appointments with different companies just to make sure someone showed up to look at the problem. Second company was wonderful - however, it still took me being involved with KitchenAid Safety Division”, their customer service and HHGregg (who told me it wasnt their problem since the 30 day warranty had expired! ), to finally get pieces to repair the door.Since neither KitchenAid nor HHGregg saw any need to replace a defective product, I insisted on all 2 new pieces of glass, a new steel shell that had been dented with the explosion, and all new racks. The problem is behind me, but I will never purchase another KitchenAid appliance nor buy any product at HHGregg.

Either the top or the bottom oven will not heat, the igniters on the burners has gone out several times. When we tried to find a repairman, there is not one in available anywhere in our area. We have tried several local repairmen. They replace numerous parts and we have been charged $200 to $300 dollars each time. The website for KitchenAid has been absolutely no help at all. Just have to add my .02 here too. I used to have KitchenAid everything in my kitchen. Our house came with KA appliances, except for the range, when it was built back in 1987. All the appliances lasted, without issue, until we had a remodel done in 2005. We got a new Dishwasher, Range, and Fridge. The fridge was a nearly 2000 dollars French door style fridge. The range was a slide-in gas/convection oven. It cost roughly $1800. The DW was about $800. The Dishwasher was a Bosch. The Fridge and Range were both KitchenAid. Of the three, only the Bosch is still going. Two years ago, the fridge compressor went out suddenly, and it would have cost 600 dollars to replace it. We opted to buy a new fridge for about $1600 - we went with a Samsung. Never did like the KitchenAid fridge. On the other hand, the KitchenAid range was actually a good piece of equipment. I liked it very much... That is, until I used the self-destruct feature, oops, I mean self-cleaning feature. Yes, we had never used the self-cleaning feature of the KA range until about a week ago. We usually cleaned it regularly by hand, as the messes were small. We decided to use the self-clean feature, for the first time, and guess what? It shut down in the middle of the cleaning. The door was locked, and the control panel was not responsive. I got online and found this was a very common occurrence for KA ranges, even ones that were nearly brand new, my range included, as we very rarely used the oven, we almost exclusively used it for the cooktop. So, thinking that this wasnt a wear-and-tear issue, and that the self-clean feature caused the failure, I thought Kitchenaid/Whirlpool would be more than willing to give me some assistance with this. Ha ha, silly me. After nearly an hour on hold, the first rep told me to reset the breaker to the range and wait for awhile to see if that fixed the problem. I reluctantly agreed, and, of course, it didnt fix anything. I called back and this time they told me they would have to set up a service call and it would cost me. Now, again, silly me thinking since the poor design/defect of the stove caused it to fail, I thought they would be gracious to give me a one-time call, or at least send a free part or something. However, no, they didnt care at all and basically told me to get lost and they wouldnt take responsibility for the defect, or stand behind their product. So, after two crummy experiences with KA, and over an hour dealing with customer NO service, I have decided to replace the range with a Bosch, yes, the same company that made my DW that is still going like a champ. I will never, ever, purchase a KA or Whirlpool product again. I hope anyone who reads this will decide to be thoughtful about your money you spend, and if do purchase KA/WP, dont expect any kind of customer service, or a company that stands behind their products.

Bought this refrigerator 6/13/12 after home power surge destroyed our other KitchenAid refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY. We were very happy with the first one so decided to buy another, counter depth side by side. We had no problem the first year but shortly after the warranty expired, had an issue with hose connecting to freezer. After they realized it was a faulty part on the hose, they covered it. We have a wood floor in our kitchen so that also needed to be repaired. Thankfully, I decided to purchase the 5 year Extended Service Plan. We have used it three times, so far. We discovered water accumulating in bottom portion of the refrigerator and called service plan. In April, 2017, had the drain unclogged in fresh food side. Today I pulled out bottom drawer to find the same thing happening. It also had a lot of black mold on side of drawers and refrigerator. (I took lots of pictures). I set up appointment to have repair service come out to fix clog and also to check on why mold is appearing (probably related). Extended Service plan seems very responsive so I would recommend purchasing it.

I bought the Kitchenaid KDTE404 (architect series) dishwasher for $900 and had it installed by company who sold it to me. The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, but installer/company repaired it within a week. The rack system is crap. Has plastic inserts with ball bearing. Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. Next repair gets it booted to the side walk.

KitchenAid Range Model # YKESA907PB00I bought a KitchenAid electric range in 2006, black in color. First time using it, the paint scraped off the top of the control panel from a pan, exposing the aluminum beneath the pan. I replaced the control panel face plate with a stainless steel on so that this wouldnt become an issue again. A few months later, the off button stopped working on the control panel. Yesterday, I opened the oven door and an error code came up telling me that I need to replace the control panel. This will be the third control panel on this piece of ** in 5 years. How pathetic is that! Appliances are supposed to last 20-30 years, not 5, especially after paying $1800 for it. I now know that the KitchenAid name is nothing but marketing hype. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid appliance and strongly urge others to do the same.

After looking at various makes and models of ovens online, we purchased/ordered our KitchenAid wall oven (KEBS107) back in August 2012, waiting for over 2 months for the actual delivery of the new oven. Over the next year and a half, we had occasional issues with the oven not heating properly - sometimes it would pre-heat quickly - sometimes it would seem to take a very long time to reach the desired temperature - especially if I was needing to change the temperature during use. After 16 months of use, the thermal fuse had to be replaced. Apparently the oven door has to be closed at ALL times, especially when broiling. Now, after two years of use, the oven is acting up once again and not heating properly. I purchased an oven thermometer to verify this. KitchenAid is going to cover this 2nd repair, even though I was told that my ESP was not currently in effect (which is another frustrating story that I wont go into). I am thinking at this point that there is a major design flaw with this appliance. Having any sort of electronic/module located just over the opening of an appliance that can get very hot was probably not a good idea. If I cant open the door of a hot oven to check on or remove the contents inside, what good is it????? This oven has been nothing but frustrating pretty much since we bought it!

This will be the 2nd time that I have had to call a repairman out to replace the thermostat in my Superba wall oven. Like so many other complaints Ive seen posted, there is something wrong if you cannot use the self clean function of your self-cleaning oven. To pay this kind of price (over $3,000) for a convection oven/microwave combo is a lot and you would expect a better product. First off, you pay extra for a self cleaning function but if you cant ever use it without it disabling your entire oven, then whats the point? So far on my oven combo unit, I have had to replace the glass in the door panel of the microwave, the glass in the door panel of my oven (no they were never hit by anything) and am now replacing my thermostat for the second time all because I wanted to use an option that I paid for: a self-cleaning option. Never again will I buy a product from KitchenAid or one of their related subsidiaries.

When I asked the cost to replace it he advised that it was no longer available because the factory in Japan had been destroyed by the Tsunami. This was two years ago, and this huge company had done nothing to create a new supply?? Can you imagine Toyota or Sony using that excuse? Our only option was to send the control board to Chicago for repair and have the fridge / freezer out of commission for 3 to 4 weeks, also we had to sign some kind of a liability waiver. I thanked the service man and advised I would get back to him, then I started to surf the net and after some time I came across this web site and thankfully the blog from Chris in North Van. I live in White Rock and if I knew your address I would drop off a very good bottle of wine on my way to Whistler. Thank you, after reading your info I asked the service man to come back and remove the board. However he said he was prevented by Whirlpool / Kitchen Aid from doing this unless it was sent to Chicago. I contacted another excellent service man who is independent and had him do the removal. I would say unless you are very mechanical you would be better to go this route. He also advised that it was often the evaporator fan that caused the circuit board malfunction. Once it was removed I found it to be exactly as per the photo from Chris. I was able to locate the capacitor from SMI Industrial Electronics in the nearby suburb of Langley, it is a 22ouf 10X12 HI TEMP CAPACITOR 85 o and cost the princely sum of 36 cents (I even purchased a spare). I then took this to an electronics repair man who tested and removed the defective capacitor and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes, he would not even accept any payment. I would advise that unless you are used to working on circuit boards and have a very fine tipped soldering iron I would use an expert, even if he charges you. It would be easy to short out the wires with too much solder. I took this home and the service man came back and installed the circuit board and a new evaporator fan which for some reason is a stock item and in about 1/2 hour the fridge was humming, no chirping and we were able to set the freezer for 0 F and the fridge for 37 F. The temperatures both initially read the 70 F air temp. but started to fall quickly and a few hours later we heard the first ice being made and everything is working just fine. Our total bill including the fan was $260.00. Thanks again Chris, and like you I am amazed that the so-called help line would not advise of this. I am fairly certain our first service man knew of this option because when I told him about the info from Chris he was not the least bit surprised. He probably would be blacklisted if he went against the companys policies. Good Luck!

In our conversion to stainless steel we decided on KitchenAid. We got a bundle deal and purchase three appliances from Lowes and, though I normally never do, I purchased the extended warranty. The microwave (MODEL # KCMS1655BSS) quit working within the first year, still under factory warranty. They brought a new one and out of the box, it did not work! They brought another one and it is still working. Shortly after the first year the oven (MODEL # KEBS179BSS00) was not able to consistently get over 400 degrees. After about 6 service calls and replacing two circuit boards and a temp sensor, it appears to be fixed. The problem is, anytime a part is needed to be replaced, it takes at least 2 service calls. The first one to troubleshoot the problem and say, you need a new (part), and then they order it and the second one to install the part. Jump forward a couple months and the refrigerator (MODEL # KFIS29PBMS00) stops making ice. This problem actually started while we were still dealing with the oven problems! I called in the fridge and before the tech even came out, I realized that it was a cooling problem as my ice cream turned to soup. I called Lowes extended warranty and let them know the problem was not the ice maker but a cooling problem. The tech still came out to troubleshoot the ice maker. I pointed out the problem was cooling, showing him the item in the freezer that were thawing. What does he do, order a new ice maker. After probably a dozen service calls and several replaced parts, I told them I wanted my money back. Reading the extended warranty from Lowes, it says that if the appliance is repaired three times for the same problem that they will buy it back from you. They cut me a check for my purchase price and I went to Home Depot and bought a new Fridge, GE this time. I was very unhappy with KitchenAid and very unhappy with Lowes service techs. I was an electronics tech in the Air Force and I was doing better at troubleshooting this problem than these people were. They were so clueless. Warning, KitchenAid and Whirlpool are the same thing! I will say that the extended warranty served it purpose and we did not have to spend a dime on any of these service calls, that is good. But for the three appliances there were probably 23 service calls in less than 2 years! Those are all days that I have to be home between 8 and 1 or 1 and 5. I always pick the earlier time slot. The vast majority of the time I would get a call around 12:50 letting me know they were on the way. They usually showed up well after 1:00, closer to 2:00, not leaving until 3 or later. My day is shot at that point. Thats 23 days of my life I sat in my house waiting for a service technician in just 2 years.

Purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUD30IXBT4 Series F15106777 dishwasher with extended warranty four years ago and it already quit working. Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty as of March of this year. Control panel does not function as of today. Not impressed. Will never buy another KitchenAid Product as long as I or anyone in my family lives. And am going to spread the word to everyone I come in contact with. Very disappointed in most appliances on market today. Have had nothing but headaches. This is our second dishwasher in 8 years and there is only two of us living in our household. We take very good care of our stuff.

KitchenAid® 27-Inch Single Wall Oven, Architect® Series II - I purchased this Oven October 5, 2013. It was installed October 24, 2013. On December 31, 2013 it stopped working. I called for service and they could not get to me until January 6, 2014. The serviceman came out that morning and took a look at the oven and found that the fuse had blown in it. Lucky me they did not have one in stock and they had to order one. The fuse came in on January 8, 2014 and they came out and installed it. I did not use the oven again until January 14, 2014 because of some other issues in my kitchen. January 14, 2014 I turned it on and used it to bake something. It worked fine. I walked away from it after I was done baking and came back about 45 minutes later and it had died again. It will not come back on. My guess is that it is the fuse again. I would not recommend this oven to anyone!!!!! At this rate I will have a serviceman at my house every week to repair this oven. I called a supervisor at Kitchen Aid January 16, 2014 and they want me to keep the oven and they want to extend the warranty. This will happen when some place freezes over!!!!

The unit is 2 years old. The Control panel was always hot. The repairman said that was normal. It was so hot that the cupboard Above the unit was being heated. Eventually the control panel blew. The entire unit had to be replaced. Next everything was burning. The repairman came & told us, You didnt calibrate the oven!!! They calibrated it and then told me that the setting will not hold. we will have to continually monitor the temperature in the oven.I baked two pans of oatmeal bars for my grandsons football team. One pan burned, the other did not. When I called about this I was told, You should have used the convection function. In other words it was my fault. I just threw out 4 loaves of German stollen because 4 were burned on the outside and uncooked on the inside. The remaining 2 loaves are fine. This oven will bankrupt us if we keep bringing in repair men. My question is this, Any suggestions for replacing this unit? Incidentally, we live in St. Joseph, MI, right across the river from Whirlpools Corporate Headquarters. NO ONE CARES whether the consumer is satisfied. Im fearful that this company will suffer the same fate as Eastman Kodak, in my hometown.

Bought a KA double convection oven. It works well enough but the problem is that enamel and metal on the upper oven floor melted forming small holes. I contacted KAs parent company and was advised that the oven liner was not a replaceable part. Heres the response. Thank you for visiting the KitchenAid website. We appreciate hearing from you. We apologize for the problem you are experiencing with the interior of your KitchenAid oven. The oven liner is not a serviceable part and is not available. The only resolution for the problem you are experiencing is replacement of the oven. You are a valued KitchenAid customer and we appreciate the opportunity to address your inquiry. We invite you to contact KitchenAid again either by calling (800) 422-1230 between 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST weekdays or by emailing whenever the need arises. When calling please press the available option or stay on the line to reach a representative.I.e. Buy another $5000 dud? Not likely. Meanwhile I am concerned about using the oven in case a spill allows grease to migrate into the cavity between the upper and lower ovens. I imagine that this would be a fire hazard. I will never buy anything from Whirlpool again and advise others likewise. Their brands are WHIRLPOOL. Every day, care™ KITCHENAID. MAYTAG. INDESIT. CONSUL. BRASTEMP. AMANA. JENN-AIR.

Where do I start? I am NOT happy with KitchenAid at all. First, my brand new ovens blew a thermostat when self-cleaning for the first time. Then my dishwashers spring in the door broke. Guess I didnt learn my lesson, so I bought a KitchenAid fridge. First fridge quit after 6 days and ruined everything inside. They sent a new fridge finally and the icemaker never has worked and still doesnt. Finally, my microwave which has lasted the best out of ALL my KitchenAid appliances has now broken a spring that controls the door. I DO NOT RECOMMEND KITCHENAID products to anyone. Double Oven Glass exploded - I was preheating my oven to make chicken nuggets. I put the chicken into the oven and when the oven reached 235 degrees, the inside glass of the top oven exploded. The inside glass of the oven broke into very tiny pieces and some pieces even managed to escape from the seam that broke during the incident and ended up on my floor. No one was injured, I had called KitchenAid and they told me to schedule an appointment for a technician to come at $129.00 (my expense) and then I will have to pay to the new glass to get installed.

After 2 years my KitchenAid Dishwasher model #KUDC10IXBL2 needed a new circuit board replacement. We had an extended service contract - great you would think, but not so. After replacement, we had water leaking from the dishwasher. Now my hardwood floors are lifting and I have bowls under the door to catch leaking water. This is after numerous repairs of the gasket. KitchenAid does not take responsibility for damage done to your personal property. KitchenAid also contracts with a repair company called A&E. A&E gives you a time frame for repair between 8 am and 5 pm, so to say the least we have lost out on vacation time as we need to take a day off for repair. Each time the repair guy comes additional damage is done - most times they forget to have ordered the necessary parts, so need to reschedule to come back out. This last time I phone KitchenAid who told me the service guy could deem the appliance a lemon, however the service guy told us they would not allow him to do this. A&E has put into repairs on this dishwasher over $800 and we paid $535 for the item. Last week A&E came out again, it ran well before they left. The next day I went to run the dishwasher and bolts popped off and the unit gushed water. Seriously! My recommendation would be research your product well, not purchase a service contract through KitchenAID and ask if the service repair company contracted with is A&E. Bad experience and the poorest customer service ever!

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago thinking we were paying more to get a quality product. It has been instead inferior and troublesome. A long series of problems began from the start. Crooked footings that made it more challenging to install. Leaking door seal that needed to be replaced. Leaks from some undefined location that require we use and empty a drip pan. Plastic wheels breaking and not staying on track (dumping the full tray into the well) when sliding in full trays of dishes. Poor cleaning compared or prior cheapo washers. Flatware trays that wear out easily even while trying to be careful, and now to top it off, the unit has stopped rinsing the dishes entirely. What a huge waste of money!

I was not using the meat probe, and have never used the meat probe thermometer. I cannot get the message to clear and cannot use my oven. My oven purchased ONLY THREE years ago!!! Will never buy another Kitchenaid anything! We thought we did our research – this oven received good marks from Consumer Reports. In addition while reading the manual that came with the oven shortly after purchase, it warned against using the self-cleaning feature. What?? Kitchenaid includes a feature and Im sure we paid extra for it – that can cause the glass in oven to shatter. And then warns you in their own manual against using it! Kitchenaid Duel Fuel Range Oven Problem Model KDRP407HSS10 - While baking oven door locked and went into cleaning cycle, food in oven was smoking and could not cancel cycle. Husband had to turn breaker off and let oven cool down and then turn breaker back on so electronics would unlock door and then was able to get food out. Tried to use oven again and did the same thing. Called Kitchenaid and they would not admit or even acknowledge they were aware of the problem. I told them they had to be aware of the problem because I have seen postings of the same exact problem going all the way back to 2005. Had to ask twice to talk to supervisors at next level to try and get their explanation of what it would take to repair the range. I explained I wanted to talk to someone who had knowledge of what it was required to fix the problem. Someone at KA has to know what is wrong. I am now waiting for the third supervisor to call us back. One posting I read said that in the state of NY there was a class action lawsuit filed against KA. This is an extremely dangerous situation and could cause a serious fire. Do not understand why this problem has not been addressed. The ovens should have been recalled.

We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator (model KFIS29PBMS) with a 5 year extended warranty. We started having trouble with the unit after 1 year, in that the freezer compartment was making a lot of noise. About a year later, it started again. the problem was the freezer was not keeping ice cream hard. They diagnosed the problem to be the automatic defrost cycle not working properly. Ice would build up around the fan causing the loud noise. This time, the service technician replaced the control panel and another panel in the rear of the unit. The noise subsided, but two problems continue to exist. The unit periodically beeps (every five to ten minutes) and the refrigerator freezer compartment continues to not freeze ice cream.I called for extended service and was told they would NOT come out to fix the problem because it was already repaired. After an hour with their extended service rep, they agreed to find another service company but said I may have to pay for the repair. I have had KitchenAid products in all three of my homes in the past. The quality of their products has changed - unfortunately for the worse. When they refuse to stand by their extended service contract, then its time to find another company. After reading several reviews on this refrigerator, I found that I am not the only one who has had this problem. Do yourself a favor, when you look at a KitchenAid product in a store, just walk on by. Save yourself a lot of aggravation!!!

Bought a great looking KitchenAid oven last year, but it has an unusual malfunction of blowing hot air from the oven into the kitchen for extended periods of time while the oven is on, and most annoyingly, after the oven is turned off. It heats up the kitchen so much it is uncomfortable to be in there while cooking anything in the oven.Just now, we turned off the oven more than an hour ago, and incredibly, the fan in the oven suddenly turned on and for about five minute spewed more hot air into our kitchen. This is a major malfunction. Previously contacted KitchenAid, but the phone operator could not help and thought this was normal. This cannot possibly be normal. It probably heats up the kitchen by 10 to 15 degrees, which is a killer. DO NOT BUY THIS STOVE/OVEN.

Or does KitchenAid not care about its obligations to its customers for prompt availability of replacement parts? Just cost me $1,602 in labor charges to fix a six-year-old KitchenAid, side-by-side built in refrigerator. Yep, the top of the line one! The parts were covered under the warranty because the appliance had a Freon leak, which caused damage to the compressor, evaporator coil, and heat exchanger. Now I ask you, if a company recognizes that their appliance should not break down in this way in only six years, as evidenced by their willingness to hand over the parts free of charge, shouldnt they pay for the labor as well?! Oh, and to get the parts for free, you can only use one of their authorized service people, who of course can and do charge whatever they want. This company should not even bother having a customer service dept. They do nothing except repeat their hard line and refer you back to the legalize of their warranty. It was about 5 yrs old and I gave it to my Mother-in-law. The only thing I can say about this Kitchenaid that I like is it is very quiet. I wish I could afford to get rid of this thing. I would sent it to good will and recoup a little of my money at least as a donation.

Its a beautiful piece of junk! I bought Stainless steel model #KGRA806PSS on January 2006. The first service call was on January 2007; second on January 2008; third on April 2008. Of course, my fourth service call is now past the 5 year warranty. The igniter would click forever and then go out. Three times Ive had the electronic replaced. Oven would preheat, come to temperature then would lose heat and never reheat past 275. I didnt dare use the self-cleaning feature after reading the horror stories of glass shattering or doors locking or burning the electric board out. Anyways, we called KitchenAid and after being told that they never have had complaints about this range, we told them that they should try looking at the complaints registered online. Well, since this would be the fourth service call about the same problem, they would send a service technician out and if its the same problem, they would pro rate a new stove. The service technician just called and said that hes on the way out and did you know that there is a $135 service charge? No, I will not pay the service call, after all Kitchenaid called and set up the call and Im not paying another dime on this $1500 money pit!Buyer beware. KitchenAid is no longer a customer friendly company and they do not stand behind their product. If they resolve this, I will report back but as my husband is on the phone and it doesnt sound promising, you probably will not be hearing anything more on this piece of junk!

Our $600 KitchenAid microwave failed after less than 2 years. I spoke with customer service about repair, and was told that replacement parts are not made for this item as its a countertop appliance. Was not marketed as such - was sold to me as an installed piece with a matching trim kit. I was told that I would just need to purchase another microwave given that Im out of warranty. Very disappointing to discover that a seldom-used microwave that retails for that much money cannot be counted upon to last for 2 years. Sadder still that KitchenAid is not willing to stand behind their product by at least offering a discount toward the purchase of a replacement product. Based upon this experience, I will not purchase another KitchenAid appliance.

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.

Wife & I are close to retirement so we bought a top line KitchenAid Dishwasher for about $1,100 thinking we not only had a warranty but would have good performance and few if any repairs. Less than 2 years into the purchase we have now been without a dishwasher for over 4 weeks. The certified repair agency has been here 4x now and the dishwasher now has new: User Interface panel, CPU Control unit, dirty water sensor, motor, pump, tub, wiring harness.KitchenAid will not replace the unit with a new one (so much easier and so much better customer service). They would rather go through all of this replacement and inconvenience. This is similar to buying a rusted, dilapidated car from a junk yard. Made in Mexico I think. Very poor customer service. Very poor product. Not worth a $50 much less $1,100. Never again. Please tell your friends. I will be telling my friends as often as I can. The repair men are here today & if its not fixed, the BBB, the president of the company & the FTC will hear about it.

I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

Purchased KitchenAid Architect II 24 45 decibel built-in stainless steel dishwasher in May 2014. Problem with lower basket wheels falling off. This has happened twice, with the last time two wheels fell on to the heating element and burned up. A week later the burnt smell is still in the machine. Whirlpool, who makes this, said this is not considered a hazard because even though it burned up the plastic wheel, it did not cause a fire. A ridiculous answer! I suggested better fitting wheels are needed along with a screen over the heating element to prevent anything from landing on it. They wont do anything, even replace the wheels, because it didnt catch on fire!! Buyer beware - poor product, poor customer service!!

We just renovated our entire home, and I wanted a good, solid, basic dishwasher for the basement kitchen, thinking this a better option for my teens. This is not our main kitchen and it doesnt get the normal amount of use like our main, upstairs kitchen, and I didnt want anything too complicated. The KitchenAid dishwasher was installed and leaked from day two. It leaked out the sides and all over the floor, and ruined the brand new cabinetry that it was installed next to. In the two years that weve had it, it has been serviced 7 times, and tomorrow will be the eighth. It was barely nine months old and a pump had to be replaced.Early on, I begged the KitchenAid company for a new unit. I even offered to spend a little more and get a totally different unit, knowing Id have to have another cabinet panel made to match our cabinets. Anything to get this lemon out of my kitchen! Nothing doing. Im basically stuck with it, and now whenever I call (again) for service, they want to charge me the service call because its out of warranty, even though they have the service history. I ask for a supervisor and they finally agree to foot the service call, but for how much longer, its anyones guess. Thank goodness I chose two Bosch dishwashers for upstairs. They are quiet and work wonderfully, and they get a lot of use!

My KRFC704FPS Counter-Depth refrigerator has had issues since day one. I should have returned in within the 15 day window to Best Buy. It is super noisy and can be heard as far away as the 2nd floor of my home. The freezer temp wont go any higher than -7 degrees on a thermometer and that is with a setting of 5 degrees. I have a super accurate electronic thermometer in the freezer and it can get as low as -20 degrees. If I set it lower than 5 it can get colder. The refrigerator section has to stay at 39 degrees of food starts freezing. KA has been out 3 times for the issue and they wont help. The techs even brought their own thermometers and it states the same. Their only fix is to turn off the ice maker. I paid $4k for a refrigerator and they wont stand behind it. Also, the seal is tearing and water pools up and freezes in the bottom of the freezer. I have had it for 11 months. Every time the tech comes out he says there are issues, but KA wont do anything but say it is normal. I have all KA appliances too.

Our house (built in 2006) came with KitchenAid SS appliances. All of them have had issues. In 2010 our dishwashers thermal fuse burnt. We replaced it and it worked for a while. Then after about 6 months, it failed again. I had it replaced again and it worked for a while. I now have the flashing Normal and Cancel lights. Pulled the power plug and connected it back after 15 minutes. Still the same issue. Came to know that it is either a keypad or control board issue. So then we started using it to store manually washed vessels. Then one day, while opening the door, I heard a snap and then the door fell loose instead of going down gently. I noticed a cord sticking out of the bottom with frayed end. As I shone my flashlight through the bottom corner, I noticed a plastic piece which was probably attached to the cord/rope and I could also see a large spring lying on the floor underneath the dishwasher (on the side), which I am assuming this plastic was connected to. So the cord would pull on the spring and slow the opening of the door. It looks like the knot of the cord came undone and then the plastic fell off and came unattached from the spring. Such badly designed appliances. The torsion spring on my microwave broke twice and the door falls freely. Not fixing again. Never again will I buy an appliance of theirs or Whirlpool.

I looked and looked at gas ranges - I was very excited to be able to use gas again. I selected this Kitchen Aid stove and was not told that the central oval burner, which I paid extra to have, would not provide more than a low flame. You buy the whole 5th unit for just pancakes only! The self-cleaning oven will not clean the sides of the oven, only the pan over the burner. The little top oven is meant only for warming, not baking or cooking because it cooks so unevenly that toast, food and cookies are done on the glass side and burned on the back side. I have had KA service people out twice and they say that thats the way it is and that it registers 350 degrees when checked. I could have bought an oven for less than 1/2 and had a better oven. Its not the company that produced my 30-yr-old KA mixer, is it?

So I will start out by saying that I did not read the negative reviews before purchase. This was not my first oven purchase and should have done more homework. The all the positives were so POSITIVE! So, that being said, my oven is about 6 weeks old. Yesterday for the first time, I tried out the self-cleaning feature. It ran well for a few hours then completely went out. Nothing. I tried everything with the power and fuses but nothing. I have been trying to get someone to help me but I cant reach anyone. Sears repair wont touch it. I will call again on Monday to KitchenAid again. But seeing all of these poor reviews it is making me very nervous. I will have to say that this is a piece of junk. The glass on the inside is stained and gross. I will update this complaint again after KitchenAid gets back to me. But this is crazy. If consumer affairs knew about this problem with the fan and cleaning cycle, why is are they allowed to sell this crap? Class action, I want in. Should have never purchased a KitchenAid.

Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

We purchased a brand new home in November of 2012 and ever since day one of operating our KitchenAid oven Model # KEBS109BSS00, we have had this awful metal on metal rattling noise. After contacting KitchenAid warranty repair department, they have sent Three different companies out over 18 visits to repair the issue. We have been informed that there are only two moving parts to the oven and both parts have been replaced TWICE. Also, we have had new extra insulation kits and exterior panels replaced, tightened, loosened, and so on and so on... to no avail. The oven still makes the awful noise through all three operating cycles. Kitchen Aid has been horrible with helping us repair this oven. They claim that some of the visits will not count because the tech that came out for the repair did not log a claim attached with the serial number of the unit. So we basically wasted half a day and and still have a broken oven. I will NEVER buy a kitchen aid oven again, cheap product and terrible customer service. Even the technicians they send out are saying that there is nothing more that can be done and they need to replace the unit but to be prepared that Kitchen Aid will fight us on that but 18 visits at $144 a pop they have already spent more than the oven is worth.

We purchased a KitchenAid wall oven KEBS107SSS in March 2012. This oven does not turn off and just keeps hot air blowing into the kitchen for at least an hour or longer after pushing the off button. The sales person at the high end appliance store we purchased it from said to turn off the power to the oven, which we did as it had a dedicated breaker switch. Then the oven just latched automatically, wouldnt open, and had a nice error message on the screen. Took the repairman over two weeks to get the part to fix the latch as he said that was the problem.... thats why the oven doesnt turn off efficiently??? I cant get anyone from KitchenAid to even answer my phone calls and I truly dont think the repairman has a clue as to why this oven wont turn off. Do not buy a KitchenAid oven. Frustrated and disappointed with KitchenAid regarding refrigerator model number KSC23C8EYY03 bought new in October 2014. Purchased refrigerator in October 2014 for residential use. In May 2016, owners observed ice accumulation behind the crisper drawers of the refrigerator. Items in fridge were not being cooled to appropriate temperature and freezer cold but not adequately freezing contents. Not under warranty at that time, owners called a local service company to review situation and a part was replaced.Owner then purchases a warranty, which was enacted in September 2016 when the same issue presented itself. Since then KitchenAid warranty has been called - February 2017, July 2017, October 2017, February 2018 and now April 26, 2018 - all for the same issue. The refrigerator is essentially inoperable during each service request every 2-5 months, resulting in food spoilage and loss of money. Owners are aware of the Lemon Law, however, there is no recognition on KitchenAid Warranty’s part on customer frustration regarding the investment of money into a product that has simply proven 6 times over that it does not work. It wasn’t until speaking with a KitchenAid Warranty supervisor today (April 2018) that owner was informed about the option of filing a food loss claim (again, after dealing with KitchenAid Warranty 5 times since September 2016). We again are having the refrigerator serviced, with the expectation that any repair would prove fruitless, a part will be replaced that won’t get us closer to a Lemon Law review, and resulting in a temporary fix that would need to again be serviced in 3 months time. The service repair technician who has serviced the unit all 6 times is equally frustrated that the solutions given to them by KitchenAid Warranty does not fully resolve the situation.

We have an 18-month old KitchenAid refrigerator - high end model with the freezer on the bottom. It began to leak water that settled at the bottom of the freezer. After a time, it would freeze so much that it would eventually leak out onto the floor. We looked in the book - no help there. I found your forum and a problem just like ours (same model even). They said it turned out to be a grommet that was too small and that a new style had been developed. So we wrote to KitchenAid about this. They denied that there were any problems. After several conversations with them and a copy of one of your forum notes on this, they finally did agree to at least pay for the part. Well the appliance man came and fixed it. It was indeed the old style grommet. He said it happens all the time. We wrote to them again and asked them about paying the labor (part was about $12 and the labor is $100). No, they would not do this. Apparently, according to the repairman, this refrigerator is not the only one with this problem. This model is also sold by Maytag and some other - maybe Sears? Just slap a different name on them and they all have this problem. So buyer beware. Make sure that they check this out before you bring it home or you too will be paying the price to fix it. We really bought what we thought was a quality product (now that we are retired and didnt want to have to deal with repairs all the time). So much for that! KitchenAid support was of no help at all. I spent $2,300 at Arts Appliances In North Haven, Ct, for a Slide-n electric range and microwave that were shipped direct from the factory. They were so called professionally installed. The time we used them the range emitted a loud pop and a flash which blew the breaker. The cause was a disconnected burner wire that shorted out on the chassis. Evidently the wire was never connected at the factory, an oversight that could have caused a house fire. We also quickly discovered that the lamp in the microwave above the range did not work.Arts sent us a couple of replacement bulbs. It took all my strength and care to remove the bulb which I discovered had been silicone sealed into the bulb socket. Its incredible that no one discovered these defects during the in assembly process or in Quality Control. Two major appliance shipped to the same consumer and both were defective. Adding insult to injury it took days to reach the factory claim center and days for a tech to arrive. The store owners insisted that I had to resolve the problem with the factory.

We are senior citizens, so, prior to 2013, we had owned a number of fridges and never ever had a problem with any of them. In 2020 we placed another service call with Whirlpool (every service call cost a few $$ ).The tech suspected that there is a problem with a control panel, however he was not sure. He informed us that the repair would be quite expensive and it is not covered by warranty. The fridge is still not working properly - the cooling is on and off and we found an ice buildup under the freezer. By now we have had enough with costly repairs and persistent problems. It is time for a new fridge and we will make sure that it is not KitchenAid or Whirlpool. Stay away from these brands.
