I have 2 KitchenAid dishwashers, installed new 2.5 years ago and have had multiple problems with them. The parts fail all the time. I have extended warranties, which we dont always purchase, but they have been worth every penny weve paid into them. Never, never buy KitchenAid. (As a side note, I also have a range and a built-in oven. Both have had multiple problems as well.)

This is the second Kitchenaid refrigerator I owned. The first one had problems right from the start. Multiple repairs within the year. Symptoms were not cooling properly, no ice, ice buildup on evaporator coil. Kitchenaid finally replaced the unit because of leak in sealed system. The second one came Jan 2018. By March had issues again. The same problems. Ice build up, no ice, not holding temp. 5 more house calls, loss of food, missed work then conveniently after the manufacturers Warranty expired Kitchenaid deemed it unrepairable. How convenient. I could have told them that back in March. The only problem is that now I am in extended warranty and they only offer 70% of the value. They would not say why it was unrepairable (the sealed system again which should have a 5 year manufactures warranty). I know this because its the same problem as the first one and the same symptoms on last house call. What else would be unrepairable?? I spent 4 hours on phone trying to get satisfaction but they just said, I can transfer you but it will be same answer. Unbelievable that they would rather lose customers for life than replace what is apparently a Manufacturing issue. You can search for class action lawsuits and find many complaints on the same issue. They simply do not care.... I actually believe they deliberately instructed the repair people what to do to stretch out the time to avoid giving me another replacement or my full purchase price money back. I bought Model KRFF707ESS01 for $3,500. Never had a working unit for more than a few months.

Kitchenaid Refrigerator KFCS22EVM68 and dishwasher KDTE404DSS0 - We purchased higher end KitchenAid appliances 14 months ago when we remodeled our kitchen. At 12 months, the refrigerator started leaking - we had a cracked drain pan. Then a couple months later the ice maker failed. The warranty had just run out and KitchenAid was good enough to repair that under warranty. Yesterday, 14 months old $975.00 dishwasher would not quit running. We called, were told to turn off / check circuit breaker. We did. That didnt fix it. Now, will not honor warranty (2 months past) and are sending a repairman to fix. There are just two of us and we only run the dishwasher every couple of days. Very disappointing!

We purchased a KitchenAid microwave/oven combo in April 2013 while building our home. It was installed in December. It immediately experienced an error. We called to have it serviced, but the repairman could not find the problem. The error had disappeared! It is now May, the warranty has expired, and the oven is beeping non-stop at all hours of the night and intermittently throughout the day. When it is experiencing this problem, none of the keys on the keypad work. I thought KitchenAid made a quality product, but this is not the case. Very disappointed that such an expensive product could cost us this much trouble and sleepless nights. Its a holiday weekend, and no one at KitchenAid can be reached. Not a happy KitchenAid product owner!

Although it was fairly expensive, this is the best microwave we have owned to date. It is mounted in the wall (along with the regular oven) and is extremely quiet. The door opens down like a regular oven door. It is all stainless steel inside so is very easy to clean. You can cook with it as a regular convection microwave or if you want to cook pizzas or something like that, it has an upper heating element and the oven will heat to 450 degrees.

Have been purchasing KitchenAid for years. Usually very satisfied. However, their products have changed. They are not made as well as they used to be. Especially this dishwasher. I have to clean it at least once a week with dishwasher cleanser. The dishes still come out dirty and that’s after I also rinse off the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I usually have to run the cycle twice to get them clean, and even then the dishes still don’t come out completely clean. I’ve also tried different brands of dishwashing detergent and finishing rinses. Even if I reduce the number of dishes I put in the dishwasher, I still get the same results. I had the machine looked at while it was under warranty. All they did was clean the arms. I was still getting the same results. KitchenAid did nothing for me and once it was out of warranty, they wouldn’t do anything. Now I’m stuck with a terrible dishwasher.

I bought a KitchenAid refrigerator Model: KSC24C8EY in March 2013. 13 months later the ice maker started to generate less and less ice. I called KitchenAid for support but they told me the warranty expired so I waited to see what would happen. In June 2015 my kitchen floor flooded with water from the refrigerator, forcing me to call KitchenAid again. They told me they could send someone to fix the problem but asked me to pay $319.00 first. Instead I called and hired a local technician for $75.00 who found out that one of the hoses connected to the ice maker was cracked and leaking. After he replaced the broken hose the ice maker began to function normally and the leaking problem stopped. I am upset that this new refrigerator gave me so many problems, from the leaking hose that consistently flooded the floor to the non-functioning ice maker. After only using it for two years I am very depressed and dissatisfied with the service provided by the machine and KitchenAid.

We remodeled our kitchen in 2014 and purchased a KFIS29PBMS03. It immediately started frosting up in the freezer on the left side and ice and water would form below the ice maker and drip into main fridge. After three service visits the dealer replaced the unit. Again the same process happened again with multiple services and updates. Our dealer, Fergurson had another unit shipped out and installed that supposedly had been updated and fixed of these two issues. The third unit is actually worse with the frosting up and the drips and icing is about the same under the ice machine as the two others. Whats disturbing is the last service guy did order a new freezer door and gaskets but stated all these units do this and yours is not bad enough to fix as of now, but they do have another update to the top of fridge. I have ask just to refund my money and come get this jewel of design. The many days of scheduling services and deliveries and exchanges has become extremely time consuming and expensive.

We purchased new Kitchen Aid Appliances for a total kitchen remodel 3 1/2 years ago. We also purchased the extended warranty from the people who sold us the fridge (Kitchen Aid Counter Depth Refrigerator with French Doors), range, and dishwasher. Both the range and the fridge have had problems within 2-3 years of use. The range had warranty (from the extended warranty coverage) repairs 3 separate times! Now, the fridges water valve stuck open and flooded the kitchen floor which is 3/4 inch tongue and groove maple hardwood. The extended warranty people (Repair Master) will only cover fridge repairs. (They deny they will cover any collateral damage.) We still have another year and a few months on the fridges extended warranty which would take it to the appliance being 5 years old. The extended warranty people said we have to go to Kitchen Aid for help with the floor damage. Just got off the phone with Kitchen Aid and they denied any obligation since their 1-year warranty was up. So, with what could be several thousand dollars of damage to the kitchen floor, we are forced to place a claim with our homeowners insurance! We have never paid more for appliances in our lifetimes (married 35 years) than we did for what was supposed to the top end appliances such as Kitchen Aid. And then, once Kitchen Aid has your money and a year out of you - you are on your own! We will never purchase Kitchen Aid again. They are simply not Worth IT! And the extended warranties are baloney too! You might as well save your money. Its too bad that big companies dont care about the little guy anymore! Think long and hard before you buy Kitchen Aid!

I had a KitchenAid Dishwasher KITCHENAID CLASSIC SERIES KUDC10IXSS installed in February of 2012. I live alone. I run the dishwasher two or three times a week. This unit has failed on me repeatedly. It failed while it was under warranty, then it failed again right after the warranty expired. KitchenAid took care of that repair, but that repair failed again today. This units control system is faulty. I dont know if it is a design or manufacturing issue, all I know is that if you are going to spend your money on a major appliance, KitchenAid is not the brand to spend it on. I doubt I am alone with this problem. I believe a class action lawsuit should be filed against KitchenAid and that purchasers of this product should be provided with a five year parts and labor service plan at no cost.

Bought this refrigerator 6/13/12 after home power surge destroyed our other KitchenAid refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY. We were very happy with the first one so decided to buy another, counter depth side by side. We had no problem the first year but shortly after the warranty expired, had an issue with hose connecting to freezer. After they realized it was a faulty part on the hose, they covered it. We have a wood floor in our kitchen so that also needed to be repaired. Thankfully, I decided to purchase the 5 year Extended Service Plan. We have used it three times, so far. We discovered water accumulating in bottom portion of the refrigerator and called service plan. In April, 2017, had the drain unclogged in fresh food side. Today I pulled out bottom drawer to find the same thing happening. It also had a lot of black mold on side of drawers and refrigerator. (I took lots of pictures). I set up appointment to have repair service come out to fix clog and also to check on why mold is appearing (probably related). Extended Service plan seems very responsive so I would recommend purchasing it.

KSSO Built In Refrigerator - Today I received the word that the computer P/N W10219462 was manufactured in Japan and the tsunami destroyed the factory. The inventory of this computer part is zero. My $8,000 refrigerator just became scrap metal. It is less than 6 yrs. old. If there is a U.S. regulation that parts be maintained for 10 years, why are these not available from another sub-contractor? I am assuming they were defective to begin with or the computer assembly sub-contractor was so shortsighted they neglected to back up the specs. I am waiting to hear from the Whirlpool committee as to their solution or their offer. There is also a problem with a custom cabinet door to be considered. Merry Christmas! 12/15/14

As I read through the other reviews, I see that I am one of many dissatisfied customers. I purchased all KitchenAid appliances for my new home almost 5yrs ago. The refrigerator started giving me problems several months ago. Both the freezer & the refrigerator stopped working. A repairman has been out at least 8 or 9 times. It will work for a few weeks & then stop. The repairman keeps coming back over & over & its still not working properly. Ive contacted KitchenAid & their solution is to have another serviceman come out & we have to pay for labor a 2nd time or they can give me 40-50% off on another refrigerator. I thought the life of a refrigerator should be a lot longer than 5 yrs. My last refrigerator, a Kenmore was still working after 20 yrs. I am highly disappointed in KitchenAid for selling me a LEMON. Stay away from KitchenAid Appliances.

After only a year and a half we started noticing ice buildup on the inside of the freezer and the refrigerator was not as cold. Made adjustments to the temp settings and still no difference. Called manufacturer and they pointed out that the warranty was expired but if we paid $129.00 to have a service technician check the refrigerator the part that might not be working could be covered or maybe not. A shot in the dark in other words. So I’m checking website troubleshooting tips and this is a common problem. If that’s the case why don’t they show some class and fix it!

Kitchen remodeled in spring 2005 and thought I was buying quality products, KitchenAid. The refrigerator when delivered appeared to work correctly but in fact was not. There was no Freon in the unit so several hundred dollars worth of food was spoiled and KItchenAid denied any responsibility. The appliance company I bought the appliances from replaced with a new unit. The KitchenAid microwave came with a broken plastic handle. KitchenAid refused any responsibility so I have been using it as it with tape holding the handle in place. The KitchenAid range I purchased had a problem with the control panel. I could start the oven, but could not turn it off with the off button. I had to replace the control panel, at a cost of almost $300.00. The last issue is the dishwasher, which went on fire on 14 Dec. 2011. I am still trying to deal with KitchenAid (Whirlpool) on this issue and am thoroughly disgusted by the company’s attitude as well as the personnel who manage these types of complaints for them.I will never purchase a KitchenAid appliance ever again and will spread the word among my family and friends about the lack of conscience this company has in selling inferior products.

Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others
Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others changed with kitchen upgrades, never had a failure such as this. Previous dishwashers were Kenmore, Frigidaire; latter was a very basic model; in same residence 32+ yrs, kids (3) no longer part of current household. Dishwasher used 6-7 times per week in household of 2, with my wife cooking 5-6 days a week; moderate use, rarely use heavy-duty clean cycle with present dishwasher. This model has a 2-stage filter (fine, coarse), with recommended cleaning varying from once/2 months to yearly. We did not clean it since new, since we scrape dishes, do minimal pre-wash or none - our usual practice for 32 yrs in present house, 6-8 yrs in prior house. When dishwasher quit draining, checked filters, small amount of residue (1/2 tsp or less), no significant coarse grit seen. Noted no discharge from DW via exhaust tube with 3 successive cycles. I watched running empty DW. Had purchased an extended warranty for a year (3 appliances, range, fridge & DW), all purchased together, all KitchenAid, 13 mos ago with complete kitchen remodeling after 22 yrs since last remodeling.Repairman (under warranty) checked machine, found exhaust pump clogged with debris, failed; emptied some particulate matter from exhaust tube into a bucket, looked like congealed fat, a few parsley & other leafy matter. No hard grit seen. He did say that matter had been pulled past the filters (couldnt say why other than pump has a suction like a vacuum), though neither filter was even moderately clogged.KitchenAid approved a $300 plus sum for pump replacement; their consumer services could not answer my query as to how so much debris got past the filters to cause pump failure within 13 mos. This model does not have a grinder as in next higher model, but again, there was not much particulate debris I could see; pump was not yet removed, so will wait to see what it looks like.In summary, very disappointed with this early pump failure, with way less usage than in prior dishwashers that functioned well for a family of 5 for 10 yrs, and 22 yrs respectively. Believe Kenmore is made by Whirlpool, the parent company of KitchenAid, so the design, though older, is I feel similar. Modern DW detergents (we use the satchets, not powder or liquid) recommend NOT scraping too much food residue off dishes, to allow triggering of enzymatic action for cleaning dishes. We rarely see residue, occasional baked on material such as egg yolk, which we now clean off; no pots go in DW, rare baking dishes, which we scrub off in the sink. So we dont feel this DW was overworked.Writing this while searching for others with similar pump failures, trying to understand why two levels of filters failed to protect a pump that obviously is rather delicate, hence recommendation by KitchenAid Consumer Services now that every month we run an empty cleaning cycle with an Affresh tablet to clear the system. BTW, weve never seen hard-water residue inside any of our dishwashers; the prior two did not have stainless steel interiors, never required special interior cleaning with bicarbonate etc., for any build-up; we get city water, pipe-bourne, just flushed out my gas water heater after 4-5 yrs, saw a small amount of milky flow at beginning of drainage, then clear; I have a water filter at my house cold-water intake; the water (filtered) in the fridge is always clear, no problems with ice-makers over 32+ yrs, no hard-water cum anywhere.KitchenAid has no answer for us other than the Affresh cleaning cycle; we use a comparable DW detergent to the recommended Cascade, not Cascade Platinum as recommended; anybody with a similar problem, either with KitchenAid dishwashers or any Whirlpool family dishwashers (include the high-end Jenn-Air brand now)? Am feeling very disappointed with this choice right now, will expect another pump failure in 1-2 yrs, if so will look for remedy from KitchenAid, or else...!Can scan receipt of purchase from Lowes store locally if required. I have no repair order number, as requested below. Do have extended warranty # if required. We had Sears brand appliances in our old house (8 years), still have Sears (Kenmore) washer and dryer, 3 sets over 43 yrs of married life, 2nd set in this house, first set lasted 24 years, top-loaders, replaced when laundry room was remodeled, now with HE front loaders that are currently 8+ years old. Some repairs were needed, recall replacing motor of current washer when motor-bearing became noisy.

We purchased our Kitchenaid Refrigerator, model # KFIS29BB with great excitement in January 2014. We had done our homework, looked at many fridges and were confident in our choice, having owned wonderful Kitchenaid appliances before. Right away I noticed that it seemed to run a lot, and seemed louder than would be right. Ironically we had also purchased a Kitchenaid Dishwasher which is among the quietest in the industry. By August, the icemaker stopped working. It was under warranty, so the repair team came out. This required two visits, one to diagnose and one to actually repair. On repair day, it took two men four hours. They removed every shelf and bin and replaced the compressor and the evaporator. The repairman confided that he had fixed quite a lot of this particular model. Within two weeks, the ice maker quit again. And this time a loud annoying buzz from the motor began. Another two call repair. The second repair did not require as much time and effort as the first. But within 2 weeks the second repair failed, and the loud buzz was back. The fridge seemed to run constantly, but the temp in the freezer was about 18 degrees, and the fridge, 45. And the buzzing was crazy making incessant. At this point the store agreed to exchange it and we did not purchase another kitchenaid. Im hoping to save someone else the level of aggravation this purchase caused. On a brighter note, the kitchenaid architect series dishwasher rocks!

Bought a KitchenAid model # kffs20EYBL00 in 2012. This refrigerator has given me nothing but grief since 2012. I bought an extended warranty on this refrigerator and glad I did, have had to use it numerous times. The back of the freezer will freeze up, makes this running noise that sounds like a motor is running and the upper refrigerator isnt as cold as it should be. They have had to repair this 5 times in 2012 to 2013. 2014 and 2015 probably 2 times and now 2016 we are getting repaired once again. I am very frustrated with this refrigerator. I not only have had issues with the freezer, but the shelving in this refrigerator is junk.I have had two shelves break so far. Its just junk! I dont recommend KitchenAid anymore. Maybe in the 80 and 90s this was a good brand but not any longer. Looking at buying a new one, hate too since this one cost me of $1600.00 and 4 yrs of grief. Stay away from KitchenAid and Whirlpool. They are made by same company from what I have been told by companies I am looking at for a new refrigerator!

The oven bakes perfectly even though it takes a while for the oven to reach temperature. The top electric 5 units are wonderful. I love the 3 racks. One has a handle type opening in the front and extends all the way out. The electronic display is easy to read and convert to convection baking or broiling. I have never been more unhappy with products I have bought, we upgraded all our kitchen appliances about 8 years ago and decided to go with KitchenAid products (Refrigerator, Stove top range). We have had numerous issues with both products starting within 2 years of purchase. The stove valves were the first to go, and then failed again several times in the past 6 years. The refrigerator ice maker solenoid was the second item to fail. Recently the refrigerator seal system went, just a few months after the warranty expired. Today the stove ignition switch failed and the stove wont stop clicking. The seal system repair on the refrigerator was estimated at $1700. A new GE sells for 1000. Speaking of GE, I kept my GE refrigerator in the garage and now 23 years later it still works.

We bought all new KitchenAid appliances in our new home 2 years ago. The refrigerator, French door, started having issues with the bottom veggie drawer not closing all the way. Ice was forming behind the drawer. Finally we went to the store where we purchased the appliances and they came out and repaired the problem. Cost $193. Wish we had purchased the extended warranty. I thought we were buying a better product because of the name and price. Next time I will buy GE $1000 or more cheaper than this brand. I wish things were built to last. Everything now is disposable and cost outrageous prices. Its sad that we pay such a high price and then have to pay 100s more to keep the thing working after only two years! From what Ive read in these reviews KitchenAid has really went downhill as a top of the line appliance. So as for me and mine no more KitchenAid.

I remodeled my kitchen in 2013. I thought KitchenAid was a higher end brand so I purchased all my appliances in the stainless steel finish. Within a year the dishwasher door was starting to delaminate and showing dulling spots. In addition the stove top was also starting to show signs of dulling spots and continued to grow in size. I would NOT recommend any KitchenAid appliances. The customer service with KitchenAid is not helpful at all and basically blamed me, the consumer for the problem. After spending over $5000.00 on KitchenAid appliances I expected better quality and customer service.

I have a KitchenAid hood top microwave oven I paid almost $1,200.00 about 2 years ago. I just had a heating element replaced in March 2013. KitchenAid refused to help me and had to pay out of my pocket for repairs. It is 3 months later and the microwave heating element quit working. I called KitchenAid and they refused to help me. I now have to pay out of pocket expenses again to fix the same problem. I tried to reason with KitchenAid, but they refused to help a customer. You can tell there is something wrong with the unit if I need to keep replacing the same part. Its a very expensive microwave for $1,200.00. I thought KitchenAid was an honest company. I guess wrong. I will never buy a KitchenAid product again. Bad customer service.

The Plastic wheels on my $800 KitchenAid dishwasher Model KUDS30IX failed after a little over a year. My manual states that the rack is under warranty for 5 years... KitchenAid says the warranty only applies to the nylon coating on the rack, not the wheels. They gave me a one-time replacement part that failed again after 6 months. They refuse to stand behind their product any further. I have never had a high-end product fail and receive such poor customer support. I feel they know they have a bad design and surely more customers have experienced this problem. I will never purchase another KItchenAid appliance!

Purchased range in 2006 for $1500. In first year activated self cleaning unit. Oven completely shut down. Service contract Technicians had no idea about how to fix. Finally, after two months, one technician said he had just returned from KitchenAid training session where he learned that there was a defective part that broke down while self cleaning. He replaced part with warning that I should be careful about self cleaning in the future. Over next 7 years we had technician came five times for various problems. Last week my daughter inadvertently activated self cleaning - first time since 2007. The entire unit shut down again and KitchenAid wants $400 for repair. I argued that it is a defective part. The three different supervisors I spoke with read off of a pre written statement that the part was not defective and I would have to pay. WARNING to all consumers. Purchase KitchenAid appliances at your own risk. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!

I want to join in the conversation about NOT BUYING a KitchenAid refrigerator. Same problems as others. First water all over the floor from broken/backed up line. Now refrigerator completely stopped working. Service just left after stating that the main control board is fried. The servicer said he wouldnt even touch it until I spoke with KitchenAid because they no longer make the part and they will have to decide what will be done. Immediately called KitchenAid and was told they would have to file a claim and then decide what will be done. Its Tuesday. I have had no refrigeration since Friday and now I hear horror stories about the complete lack of response from manufacturer. Never Never Never buy a KitchenAid. I cant believe I did.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side fridge from Sears ten months ago. I have since had it serviced for four times and Im now going on my fifth. This time around, I will have replaced nearly every part in the fridge. My complaint is not only with regards to the condition of the product and Sears failure to take responsibility for it (not to mention all the food Ive had to throw out), but the fact the Sears service department makes it extremely difficult to get them to come out in a timely matter.Last time we checked our fridge, it was 60 degrees. According to Sears, it would be a minimum of one week before they could come out and repair the fridge, even though our last repair guy had the part needed to fix the fridge shipped directly to our home. The part is currently sitting on our kitchen counter. I guess my question is, is there a lemon law that protects my family from Sears and the obviously faulty item that they sold us? If so, I would like this fridge replaced. Im very much considering contacting an attorney. What are your thoughts?

We purchased our home 11 years ago new, with several builders grade items, including a relatively cheap GE dishwasher. We got about 7 years of service out of it, and decided to upgrade to a quiet KitchenAid dishwasher we bought at Lowes. Within 2 years, the plastic pieces of the upper rack started to crack. When we called KitchenAid to get them replaced, they told us that a) they were now owned by Whirlpool; b) the rack and parts werent covered by a warranty. So they kindly offered to sell us the parts. We bought them, at about 1/4 of the cost of the entire dishwasher. Now its been two years, and those same parts have cracked again. The dishwasher wont even come on at this point. What a horrific experience. I always thought KitchenAid was a good brand. I will NEVER buy another KitchenAid, or Whirlpool appliance again. This was dishwasher model #KUDS30IXBL1.

My stand mixer had a bolt fall out while I was using it. I dont know where it came from, but now the stand wont stay locked down when I use it. I tie it down when I am using it. My fridge is the fancy freezer on the bottom, two-door type. There is a set of plastic drawers in the fridge that cant be used because the plastic frame that they hang on broke! My stove I have is a glass top slide-in convection oven. I have had the cooktop replaced, the front panel has been replaced twice, the meat thermometer sensor has had to be replaced twice and many more repairs. If anything overflows, the circuits blow and nothing on the cook top works for a few days until it is dried out. Last Thanksgiving, I had to cook my turkey on the barbeque and my oven didnt work for 6 weeks! Last night, a screw fell out of the bottom of the door and the inside and outside of the door was coming apart. I could see a screw was loose. I took the door off to fix it and had to take it apart. I decided to clean the glass while I had everything apart (my glass window was filthy because when anything overflows, the liquid goes down the panel and into the door). And when I was putting everything together, I heard a weird noise and the panes of the glass window shattered. These appliances cost me over $5000.00 and I bought them thinking I would never have to replace them. Ive contacted KitchenAid and they have sent people out to fix it. However, that is because Ive paid for an extended warranty. They will not replace the stove because a problem has to re-occur 3 times for it to be replaced. Meanwhile, they have paid $1000s in service repairs and are too obstinate to replace the stove which is obviously a lemon (like all my KitchenAid appliance). I am just sick about all the problems Ive had.

The oven (model # KGRK806PSS01) was put in self clean mode. I came back to the kitchen later and found it had powered off; the oven glass was shattered and hot pieces were falling on the floor. After letting it cool down, I unplugged it. I later plugged it back in; still, it had no power and the self clean oven door latch will not unlock. Oven is completely useless now. The glass and parts alone to fix it are over $450 plus a service call & labor would put it closer to $600. I bought this at Sears about 5 years ago and they referred me to KitchenAid. KitchenAid finally offered to fix it for $370; however the glass is on back-order for 3 months. I see many similar complaints online and judging by the long back order on the glass, Im sure there are a lot of other people in my boat. I reluctantly ended up taking KitchenAids offer and I will not buy KitchenAid again.

We bought our oven in 2008 and paid about $1500. Immediately noticed that every time wed cook it would smoke furiously. Called the place we bought it from and were shunted back and forth between sales and repair people. Then we noticed that it was getting dirty - like super filthy with thick residue everywhere that could not be scrubbed, so decided to use the self-clean setting. I left the house and returned an hour later and the entire house was covered in smoke. Dog was literally choking, and cat had holed up in the basement. Had to open every door and window to ventilate. Called the place, we bought it and got the same run-around.Were not a wealthy family so this oven has been our ONLY oven since we purchased it and its a daily battle. The door has fallen off, the board has been compromised, the stove top is awful to clean and cant keep an even temperature. Every time we use the oven we end up having to open the doors and windows. Total nightmare. Surprised no one has sued KitchenAid since its apparent theyre aware of these issues. Read the reviews online and realized that this was a thing with KitchenAid ovens in particular.

I am deeply disappointed with KitchenAid, an appliance manufacturer whom I thought built high quality, reliable products and who stood behind their products. I have a model KSSSC48QMS03 refrigerator that constantly runs with 1 second pauses and pinging noise. Technician diagnosed as faulty Gemini board 2307028 (W10219463). I cannot believe that Kitchen Aid does not provide repair part 2307028 (W10219463)! My home is only 8 years old and a showcase of high-end KitchenAid built-in stainless steel appliances; 48 wide refrigerator, microwave, warming drawer, double drawer dishwasher and gas stove with steamer. This Gemini Electronic Control is for the refrigerator (and, according to the service technician, in the stove as well). There are all kinds of complaints on the internet about KA refrigerators running continuously with a sonar-like pinging noise diagnosed as this faulty board. It is unbelievable that I have a $9K refrigerator for which KA will not provide a replacement part. According to the KA recommended service company, the only solution is to send the board off to a refurbisher. I dont like to buy parts from someone that is not supported by the manufacturer. Not that they may not do a good job, but that its not a new part, factory tested with manufacturer warranty. If this is what I can expect from KA, then as these appliances need to be replaced, I will change to a manufacturer who supports their products. Unbelievable, KitchenAid (Whirlpool)! This is probably a $50 part to manufacture that they could sell easily for $300. How can they anger so many customers? One comment said that KA told them this was due to the Tsunami in Japan that wiped out the plant. We had a plant affected as well at my company and its not hard to take the design to another manufacturing location.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDC20CVSS4 in September 2010 to match all my other KitchenAid SS appliances. It will not totally rinse off top rack dishes and glasses of food residue, and as a result, food particles harden on them so bad that I must soak them in the sink to get them cleaned. I had repairmen out periodically since November 2010 to fix the problem. I have been told to run hot water before starting dishwasher, scrape/rinse dishes thoroughly before washing, switch to liquid Cascade from powder or tablets because H20 doesnt get hot enough to dissolve it, and to run dishwasher with 1/2 to 1 cup white vinegar on occasion. Nothing has worked. The bottom line is that we bought an $800.00 lemon with no recourse. Oh yeah, I was also told that new dishwashers are all made the same since the government enforced new Energy Use standards. I think its baloney being sold to me in order not to buy a new dishwasher (which we are considering). KitchenAid knows about the problems with this unit since it is now discontinued and replaced! I wish they would replace my dishwasher and start a class action suit against KitchenAid.

I purchased 3 new KitchenAid appliances after having my Sears brand for many years 20 plus and not having one issue with them in that time period. I have had my KitchenAid appliance for less than 3 mos when I started to have problems with the french door model making funny loud noises when making ice. It took 3 service calls before they could resolve the problem. Now after a year, it is doing it again. Called the service dept and they are less than helpful to help remedy the problem, which is a defect from the start. My KitchenAid double oven after 6 months needed repair. During a Thanksgiving meal, it refused to heat up to the desired temperature needed. Again, another call to service man, time off from work to wait. The problem was covered under warranty. It took the service department two times to get the problem fixed. This should not be happening to a new appliance, unless it is terrible workmanship from the factory. Now, after a year and a half, my KitchenAid dishwasher is having leakage problems. It has not paid to spent the money they ask for these appliances and get such faulty appliances. NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID!

We purchased a KitchenAid range/oven, model # KGRS505XSS approximately 3 years ago. This is a gas unit, running on propane. Since we dont have supplied gas, in conjunction with the purchase, we had installed a propane tank, and supply line. Total cost, just over $3,000. Since purchase, we have had service for breakdowns 3 times, and I am currently taking time off from work for the fourth breakdown. The machine is out of warranty. My wife is meticulous with her equipment, and we purchased this based on other KitchenAid appliances purchased (albeit many years ago). UNEQUIVOCALLY, THIS IS THE WORST APPLIANCE PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE! We have repeatedly contacted the manufacturer to address the issues. The local appliance dealer, KLECKNER APPLIANCES, has REFUSED to help other than sending a paid tech. to address each breakdown. They refer us to the manufacturer. In my latest contact with them, they offered a PAID WARRANTY, TO THE TUNE OF $350. All aspects of this experience have been horrible. We host a number of family functions, and my wife is petrified that this appliance will break down Thanksgiving morning! From the appliance dealer to the customer service people at KitchenAid, not one individual has agreed that the breakdowns (complete, loss of use of one or more burner, now oven non working) that this should not happen, nor has anyone offered to address the situation, other than to send the tech. for what will probably not be less than $200. NOT CONSIDERING MY COST OF TIME...I STRONGLY URGE THOSE CONSIDERING THIS, OR EVEN OTHER KITCHENAID MODELS, TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. Had I known any of this would have occurred, I would simply have bought the Wolf or Jenn Air we considered. Absolute junk!!

I attempted to cook a baked potato in our KitchenAid over the range microwave (KHMS2040WSS). Please note that using the sensor setting was nothing new to me, I have used the Baked Potato sensor setting many times before with good results. This last time though went horribly wrong, the potato wasnt baked when I returned, it was charred to a black ash. It wasnt even recognizable as a potato. The microwave safe dinner plate that it was on had cracked into pieces and started to adhere to the glass rotating dish. The rotating glass dish itself fractured right at the center and the plastic pivot almost entirely melted. The white interior was stained dark gray with smoke soot. I called Sears because the microwave is only 11 months old. Sears sent out an appliance specialist from A&E Service. The A&E technician performed a few tests and found the appliance was working properly and had not malfunctioned. The finding was that it was my fault as the consumer. My next call was to Whirlpool customer service at 1-800-253-1301. They were unable to help for two days because no report from A&E was available. Finally on day three, the office at 1-800-253-1301 called A&E and got the report. Then the Whirlpool representative stated they were not going to assist because it was found that the potato caught on fire not the microwave. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to another office (I know it was another office because the toll free number changed to 1-866-640-7146). At any rate, after an hour long call which truly amounted to wheel spinning, the supervisor agreed to call A&E again to see if any other options were available. Much later that same day, he left a voice mail stating that Whirlpool would help with the cost of parts. Ugh, I am so upset! The microwave is virtually new and I didnt choose how long to cook the potato, it was supposed to sense this and cook it accordingly. I have had $99 microwaves perform for years without incident. Then you really think that you are doing yourself a favor by branding up to KitchenAid and paying the extra cash for nothing. Has anyone else had this experience where the sensor setting overcooking something to the point of charring, smoke, fire etc? Have you contacted Whirlpool and if so, with what result? I feel that they should at minimum fully restore the microwave for no cost. Optimally, I would like to have a new microwave or a full reimbursement.

We own two model number KESA907PSS KitchenAid stove/ranges. We have replaced two control panels due to boilovers on the range - spills or boilovers run down into the electronic control panel and short it out, making the oven features unusable. We were able to turn on the oven, but we would have to turn off our breaker to turn the oven off. KitchenAid would replace the part while under warranty, but they would not pay for the service call. Service calls were provided at over market prices of $90 per call. It was easier just to call an independent. Additionally, the knobs on the front of the stove push in and turn on if you barely bump or lean against them. We have accidentally burned/melted items that were on the burner. This is a huge liability for Kitchen Aid I would think. We try to make sure nothing is ever left on our stove top and we check our stoves before we leave our home for fear that someone may have accidentally leaned against the knobs and turned the stove on. Very scary! I will never purchase a major appliance from KitchenAid again. I have smaller appliances for KitchenAid that I have not had problems with.

Bought a KitchenAid dishwasher (Mod KUDS35FXWH8 Ser F24801339) and clips holding the top rack on its rails broke within months of purchase, causing top rack to partially or fully collapse very often. Been living with this for the past several years. Too much spent and too much hassle to replace, as Id have to break tile to replace the unit. Very disappointed. Done with KitchenAid, as if a fairly premium model uses cheap plastic that cant support a top dish rack with normal use, then I have to question the quality of the entire unit. My thinking is that if they do not have the right people, process and engineering sense to add .05 to the cost of key parts in a dishwasher that would allow it to endure at least an average life without breaking, then why should I trust that they would have skills and sense to make the rest of the unit last an average life. KitchenAid made an extra .05-.10 cents on my purchase and lost potentially hundreds or thousands of future customers as a result. Word of mouth, bad online reviews, Consumer Affairs notice... will lead to this. KitchenAid: time for a change.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerator MOD # KSF26C6XYY04 Low quality - I bought this refrigerator from Sears as a slightly physically damaged product. That didnt bother me. When I called customer service in a right to work for less state they said that they would replace them, but that if it happened again it was a one time thing. Why I asked? They said the fronts of the drawers are cosmetic? Are you kidding me? You cannot open the drawer without the front on it. Can you open a cabinet without a handle, a front door without a door knob? I am incredibly disappointed with this company. We had a Kitchen Aid refrigerator we bought in 2000 and it was great. This is a $2000 sub par product. We bought a new KitchenAid gas range Model in 2014. The model# is KGRS505XSS. Within 1 year, one knob got stuck in off position. We had to pay $150 to service appliance person to get that fixed. Then less 1 year later a different knob has been stuck in off position. This is completely random and happens when were not even operating the knob. An amateur layperson cannot fix it. For the 30 years that we have been owning other gas ranges and operating it in similar home type situations, this has never happened to us. This KitchenAid unit is defective OR this could be a basic design flaw. Beware of this type of problem and do NOT buy KitchenAid for this reason.

I have mixed emotions on this as it has been a great dishwasher. Used probably every day for 7 or so years. No problems. Then my wife comes home from walking the dog... she had started the dishwasher 15 minutes before. Smoke was pouring from the top of the dishwasher.... but no lights or sound. Smoke dissipated but really smelled bad. I got home, took apart and the control panel was 1/2 charred. I check the internet and find that a lot of people have had this happen. Its a good thing it didnt start the house on fire. I figured I would just buy a new control panel and wire harness but the wife refuses to have the thing in the house anymore.

KitchenAid? More like KitchenFRAYED. Yesterday morning as we performed our regular cleaning on our KitchenAid fridge, a food takeout bag inside (not plastic) began to smoke. After several minutes of searching the house, looking for the fire, we checked inside the smoke infused fridge, noticing a charred bag as a result of the clearly DANGEROUS light bulb inside. What was a charred bag of smoke and ashes QUICKLY BURST INTO FLAMES!!! We had to call KitchenAid the following day (today) as they clearly do NOT take safety as a priority and have their phone lines open on Sundays and were immediately told it was our fault, not theirs, and completely BLAMED FOR the high-risk situation their fridge caused. Had we left the house or left the bag to smolder unknowingly, our whole HOUSE could have caught fire!!!There is pets and CHILDREN in this household but we were just informed it was our fault for leaving our barbeque takeout bag in the fridge it was required to be in. Horrible customer service, RUDE, unwilling to take responsibility and even wanted us to PAY to have it looked at after we couldve suffered the loss of our house, pets and family members inside. TRULY unbelievable and disgusted by KitchenAid. This fridge has had its issues from DAY ONE. We had to get a replacement immediately as it began to rust on its exterior within its first week in our house.Soon, bins began to crumble, plastic shards filling the interior as we suffered to obtain replacements. Of course, they were highly reluctant to send replacements and sent the bare minimum. HAZARDOUS, RUDE and IRRESPONSIBLE most definitely sum up the company as a whole. Do not recommend, especially if you wish to live your maximum lifespan and preserve your family, pets and friends.

Sitting in den and my husband and I hear a noise like metal racks falling. We go into kitchen and Pyrex baking dish has shattered inside oven. What a mess. I now read all the problems with Kitchen Aid ovens and Im scared of this oven. Loved the blue enamel interior, but now Im scared of this appliance. We will see. On February 5, 2014, had all of my appliances delivered, and the Refrigerator French door 29 cu ft, never was good from day one. On the day of when it was delivered, the delivery guy, called someone to tell them about the light being white and not blue light on the outside water dispenser. They told me that I should call service about that. Then few days later was getting moisture build up in the whole left side of the refrigerator, where had to wipe it with a towel many times. My old appliances were trouble free, only wanted stainless steel, and matching to my new kitchen appliances I bought from KitchenAid refrigerator, and Whirlpool dishwasher, microwave and stove which are all from the same manufacturer. Blue light is all other appliances, had the service man and told me that tell cant do anything about this. Besides the other problem whereas moisture in whole left side of the French door, ice gets watery where it throw out the ice cubes all stick together, water and ice dispenser on the door does not work too... This is brand new refrigerator and not what I ordered? Told the salesman at HHGREGG that wanted to match all of my appliances..

I purchased my KitchenAid dishwasher from hhgregg in January of 2011. I purchased model KUDS30IXSS. I also purchased a 5 year warranty for the dishwasher. The first time I called for service for the dishwasher was for the top rack in the dishwasher. The rack was broken and needed to be replaced. The rack was not covered and I had to pay nearly a $100 for the part. The next time I called for service the pump was broken on the dishwasher. This part was covered by the warranty on the dishwasher. The next time I called for service the grinder was broken on the dishwasher. The next time the dishwasher stopped working because a fuse blew on the dishwasher. The last time the dishwasher stopped working was in October of 2015. In October I was told that two pumps were not working, the circuit board was replaced, and the control board on the front of the dishwasher was replaced. Today 3/31/16, my husband informed me that there is water in the bottom of the dishwasher again and he cannot get it to turn on. None of the lights light up again and furthermore since the control board is melted he is afraid it is going to burn our house down. We just want it out of our house. I called hhgregg and they are of no help. I did not renew the warranty this time because they wanted $700 to renew the contract. I could purchase a new dishwasher for $700 and believe me, it would never, ever be another KITCHENAID product. I am so very, very disappointed with this product. The repairman told me when he was here in November that because the dishwasher is 5 years old they would only offer us half what we paid for the dishwasher. At this point I do not know if I want another dishwasher. It is only my husband and me. We eat out for dinner almost every night anyway. Why go through this aggravation? What has happened to pride in American workmanship? My husband owns his own business. If his job performance was like this, he would be out of business tomorrow! Shame on you KitchenAid! I trusted in a product I had purchased 25 years ago! My sister-in-law is having the same problems and sadly, I recommended she purchase KitchenAid! I will not be recommending that anyone buy this brand again. We are building a new home and we will be researching appliances before we buy...but it wont be KITCHENAID!

I too experienced the dishwasher top rack roller failure. The top rack rollers are secured by (2) cheap very thin plastic spreader clips. These clips are approximately 3/16 wide by 1/16 thick. If just one of these cheap clips breaks - the roller wheel will separate causing the rack to collapse along with progressive failure of the adjoining roller wheel clips. This deliberate design and manufacturing defect by KitchenAid is an obvious attempt at planned obsolesce. This once celebrated company is no longer interested in producing durable quality products. Avoid the purchase of all KitchenAid dishwashers!

I bought a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator. Two months, the ice maker broke. Six months later, the ice maker broke again. It got fixed and broke 4 years later. The repairman said the refrigerator will cost $1,500 in repair. We bought it for $1,800. I called KitchenAid and they said it’s out of warranty and washed their hands. We called KitchenAid and were told about their Goodwill Repair that covers appliances purchased between 12 and 18 months ago for a service charge of $94.95. Great we thought. Then were told they cant get anyone to our house for 5 days. Useless. We had the same problem 6 months ago, but assumed we had left the freezer door open. Not the case. We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 22 12552 last November. We are two seniors and we dont use the machine daily. So to our surprise, on Oct. 2, the machine went completely dead. No power. I called Sears and a technician came out and ordered the whole new board. We are waiting for it to arrive, but so far hasnt. Sears says its up to me to trace it and to call them tomorrow before 3 to tell them if the part is coming. This shouldnt be my job. I dont trust this machine, I want it replaced, to which Sears says no. It would be fine, but purchase the insurance for $150. This is a heck of a way to run a business. The machine is a lemon and should be replaced. Years past, I had a KitchenAid for 15 years without a service call, and now this unit isnt a year old and is having problems. Its up to the consumer to purchase insurance to keep it running. What a rip-off. This guy at Sears, Carlos, isnt working for the company--only Sears. We replaced our old dishwasher with a KitchenAid one hoping to have a long-lasting efficient one that would really clean our dishes well. We have had several repairs from Best Buy where the dishwasher was purchased. Our problems started six months after purchase and are as follows: First, the heated dry function does not come on with normal cycle. Second, the on-hour wash cycle does not clean well at all, so we can only use the longer cycles which are more time-consuming. We have replaced the racks three times. KitchenAid was contacted and they feel Best Buy should take responsibility for the machine while Best Buy held Whirlpool responsible. We did not purchase the extended warranty on the faith that KitchenAid is a good brand with a quality product. We will not purchase a Whirlpool or KitchenAid product in the future.

I loved the way this fridge keeps produce fresh. However, several months after the warranty expired the ice maker quit working. Service man (recommended by appliance store) replaced it but did not fix the problem. They then replaced the compressor, evaporator, and valves. Quit working again. Now they say that it is a sensor (or a board) and needs to be ordered but will take 1-2 weeks. Ive lost two full freezers loads full of frozen food because the freezer temperature wont go below 30 degrees. Repair man stated that this model has 6 boards that can go wrong and often do. Today, ice maker is not producing ice again! Have another call into serviceman. This is the most expensive ($3,700) and the most problematic refrigerator that Ive ever owned. I wish we had known about this website before we purchased all KitchenAid appliances for our new lake home. We purchased the higher end built-in refrigerator (over $5,000), double oven, microwave, dishwasher, and portable counter top oven. The refrigerators ice maker, ice container broke before 6 months, which was hard to remove from day one. My old refrigerator held more than this one. It isnt even big enough to hold 12 pack of cokes; its too short. The door shelves arent really adjustable. You can remove one but you cant change them. The front water dispenser isnt big enough to hold most glasses. The microwave has to be serviced to change a light bulb! The counter top oven doesnt tell you when its reached the desired temperature and takes forever to heat. The dishwasher doesnt let you know what stage its in and you have to wash everything before you put it in though it is quiet. The only appliance I was happy with was the double oven. I also love my stand mixer which Ive had for years. Sad, I wont buy another KitchenAid appliance.

About 4 years ago, I bought a top of the line Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I paid nearly $1,000 for it. I figured if I bought the best, that I wouldnt need to replace it for many years, since my aunt had 20 year old Kitchen Aid appliances, and they still worked like new. Everything was fine for a few months, then I noticed that its not as quiet as it was. Then if I didnt thoroughly rinse my dishes off, to the point of pre-washing them, there would be stuck food that was nearly impossible to remove. After doing the thorough pre-rinsing things, were fine for a while. The noise got louder. It got to the point that we would only run it a night, because of the noise. We looked into our warranty, and it had just expired, and knew that we couldnt do much about it. About a week ago, the noise was so bad that we honestly thought it would explode. We didnt touch it for a few days, for fear of explosion. Last night, we thought to run it through with a light cycle. We could hear the water filling, but after that, we couldnt hear anything. It sounded like it wanted to work, but it was stuck. We turned it off, and now its a glorified dish rack. Im replacing all my Kitchen Aid appliances with LG, because I know it wont fall apart.

Drained water from dishwasher and called repairman. He knew immediately what the cause of leak was as he had seen it often. The ring that connects and tightens a water hose to the pump was not tight enough. The original ring could not be tightened as it was installed at the tightest possible connection allowed by that plastic ring. He replaced with a Bosch metal screw tightening ring. I paid for high-end KitchenAid appliances because of the reputation of quality and service, and Ive experienced nothing but the opposite; in 2 years, my refrigerator needed a cooling element replaced, my oven glass exploded across my kitchen (thank goodness my children were not standing there!), a heating element in my convection microwave needed to be replaced, and most recently a door switch in the microwave needed replacing because it was causing it to not operate. This last repair, I was out of the 2-year warranty by one month, and they are refusing to cover the $142 cost of the repair. They dont stand by their products. In 2 years, for the thousands of dollars we paid, nothing should go wrong with any appliances, let alone these many occurrences. And to not cover a repair being 1 month past warranty, especially with all of the other problems Ive had, even just to save face, is ridiculous for such a large company.

We purchased the KUDS201XBL1 in April. To this day, we have only seen the clean light 6 times. We have been through 2 different repair companies, 9 emails to KitchenAid, too many phone calls to count, a new control board, being told to turn up our water heater, being told to run the hot water in the sink every time the machine drains and refills, telling us our pipes are bad, maybe it is the motor, the heating element, the control panel again, etc. What we have determined on our own is that the Pro-Wash & Heavy Duty Cycles will not complete. Normal wash and 1 hour wash will complete occasionally as long as the heat dry option is not on. Currently the latest repairman (an outside vendor who in his defense has really tried to work with the company) is waiting for KitchenAid to get back to him. KitchenAid has already told us our warranty does not include replacement, only repair. Well, at this point, I dont expect we will be getting even the repair had. I am deeply dissatisfied with KitchenAids customer service, in particular with their Whirlpool Factory Certified Care. In June of 2011, I called KitchenAid customer service about a broken spring for my microwave oven door. They recommended a local certified KichenAid appliance repair shop. I spent $411.67 on replacing one broken spring. Just eight months later in 4/2012, the spring broke again and cracked the glass on the door in the process. This time, the KitchenAid customer care recommended their new company, Factory Certified Care. I was unhappy about the spring breaking again so soon from the previous repair. And I was guaranteed that their own KitchenAid technicians, who only deal with KitchenAid products, provide a stellar repair service. However, the repair took two long days, and the technicians used graphs, sketches to figure out how parts go together, without seeming to be the experts they promised to be. Nevertheless, after the replacement of many parts, I paid another $463.63. Only 53 days later, two screws came falling out, unhinging the door. What kind of poorly made parts, workmanship and quality of service renders screws falling out some short weeks after a service call? I called their customer service immediately relating this problem and found their representatives completely frustrating and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and they were equally unpleasant. They knew only to recite their 30-day labor guarantee policy. Even if the part (screws/ brackets that was replaced) was under warranty, I am looking at spending at least another $100 just to have someone put back two screws. Furthermore, given my experience, what faith do I have that the screws they put back or other parts that they replaced/assembled recently wont be falling apart again just outside of the 30 days, rendering me to pay another sum for service call? I asked the supervisor why anyone in my situation would ever use their service again or purchase their products. They did not seem to care one way or another. There is absolutely no business that will thrive or sustain without reliability and a positive reputation. I spent two frustrating hours speaking with their customer service representatives to find myself at a dead end. I wrote to their customer service department to share this excruciating experience and never received a reply.
