Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDC10IXWH8 purchased 06/14/13, have had problems right along, had pump problems, finally changed pump on 05/11/2015. Now, I smelled burning wires, could not find source. Opened dishwasher to empty and saw that the dirty water had not emptied out. Had someone check the plug and saw that it had burned and melted. Think it melted into the wall plug also. Will contact Kitchenaid today.

We purchased a new wall oven from kitchenaid and it vibrates with a great deal of noise when baking. We called in the issue to Kitchen Aid and they set out a service company to fix it. They first replaced the cooling fan and the noise continued. They then came out and replaced the convection fan and the noise continued. They came out again and tightened all screws and sheet metal. They now want to replace all of the racks but it still vibrated without the racks. Still an issue so their the last response is to send another service company out to get a second opinion. This is getting crazy and a major inconvenience. Just refund my money! How do you spell LEMON or is it a poor design.

Our 7 year old KitchenAid Kss42QMSO1 side by side started chirping, the internal control panel lights were flashing and we could not adjust or control the temperature using the buttons. I first called the Kitchen Aid HELP LINE (that is an oxymoron). Talking to the fridge would have been just as helpful and all they were interested in doing was dispatching a service man, when he showed up we were advised that it was the control board # W 10219463 that had failed. When I asked the cost to replace it he advised that it was no longer available because the factory in Japan had been destroyed by the Tsunami. This was two years ago, and this huge company had done nothing to create a new supply?? Can you imagine Toyota or Sony using that excuse? Our only option was to send the control board to Chicago for repair and have the fridge / freezer out of commission for 3 to 4 weeks, also we had to sign some kind of a liability waiver. I thanked the service man and advised I would get back to him, then I started to surf the net and after some time I came across this web site and thankfully the blog from Chris in North Van. I live in White Rock and if I knew your address I would drop off a very good bottle of wine on my way to Whistler. Thank you, after reading your info I asked the service man to come back and remove the board. However he said he was prevented by Whirlpool / Kitchen Aid from doing this unless it was sent to Chicago. I contacted another excellent service man who is independent and had him do the removal. I would say unless you are very mechanical you would be better to go this route. He also advised that it was often the evaporator fan that caused the circuit board malfunction. Once it was removed I found it to be exactly as per the photo from Chris. I was able to locate the capacitor from SMI Industrial Electronics in the nearby suburb of Langley, it is a 22ouf 10X12 HI TEMP CAPACITOR 85 o and cost the princely sum of 36 cents (I even purchased a spare). I then took this to an electronics repair man who tested and removed the defective capacitor and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes, he would not even accept any payment. I would advise that unless you are used to working on circuit boards and have a very fine tipped soldering iron I would use an expert, even if he charges you. It would be easy to short out the wires with too much solder. I took this home and the service man came back and installed the circuit board and a new evaporator fan which for some reason is a stock item and in about 1/2 hour the fridge was humming, no chirping and we were able to set the freezer for 0 F and the fridge for 37 F. The temperatures both initially read the 70 F air temp. but started to fall quickly and a few hours later we heard the first ice being made and everything is working just fine. Our total bill including the fan was $260.00. Thanks again Chris, and like you I am amazed that the so-called help line would not advise of this. I am fairly certain our first service man knew of this option because when I told him about the info from Chris he was not the least bit surprised. He probably would be blacklisted if he went against the companys policies. Good Luck!

I renovated my kitchen a year ago. I insisted on two KitchenAid dishwashers as I had had great success with them in the past (still own an older model that I love). A month after installation, I called for service because the dishes were not drying and the wash cycle was taking 4.5 hours. First technician told me I need to use particular detergent and rinse product. This did not fix the problems. Second technician told me the same and reconfirmed that these new machines dont dry like the older ones did. What happened to the HEATING ELEMENT everyone mentions that dries the dishes? Third technician told me not to use SANI RINSE. This reduced the cycle time from 4.5 to 4 hours. Fourth technician (2) told me that it needed a part, so I made an appointment to have that part installed. On the day of the appointment, the fourth technician did not show and instead, his service manager came to inform me that no parts would be installed. He said I need to run the hot water in the sink adjacent to the machine before using and that this is just how the new machines are made. I pointed out that my hot water heater is about 20 feet away from the sink, so hot water is not an issue. I then had him hold his hand under the faucet to show how fast hot water comes to this area. Took all of 2-3 seconds. He was very insistent that this is just the new machines being made and there is nothing he can do about it or fix it. Did not even try. I am appalled at KitchenAid, their products and high costs (each of my 2 identical machines cost almost $2000), their warranties (and extended warranties paid for, I remind you), the manner with which they casually dismiss their consumers. No loyalty to long time customers. If I had it to do over, I would stay far away from KitchenAid. Maybe we can get Arnold Diaz involved?

KitchenAid® Superba® Series EQ Built-In Dishwasher - KUDE40FXBL1 - Like m
KitchenAid® Superba® Series EQ Built-In Dishwasher - KUDE40FXBL1 - Like many others in this column, we spent a bit more money to buy a Kitchenaid dishwasher, thinking that the quality was better. The delivery date for our dishwasher was April 26, 2011. As many have noted, the wheel system on the upper racks continues to fail. The plastic tabs that hold the wheels onto the dishwasher rack adjuster breaks, allowing the wheels to come off and ultimately leading to the upper rack dropping down on top of the dishes in the lower rack. On April 7, 2012, a few weeks shy of one year, and just before the end of the full coverage warranty, we had the dishwasher rack adjuster replaced for the first time by Sears technicians (since the machine was purchased from Sears). In January 2013, two of the four wheels were falling off again and allowing the rack to unexpectedly drop from the upper rails. After much complaining to Kitchenaid, they agreed to send replacement parts (2 dishwasher rack adjusters, one for each side, part number W10350376). The new parts are exactly the same as the two sets of dishwasher rack adjusters that failed in the past. I had hoped that Kitchenaid would have made a design change to the parts by this point in time, but it appears as though they have not addressed the issue. I will be replacing the parts by myself, and if there is no change in design, it looks like this may be an annual task. If anyone knows of a solution, kindly advise.

We remodeled our kitchen 9 years ago. We put in all KitchenAid appliances. Dishwasher, microwave, gas range and fridge. I have never been more disappointed with a company in my life. This week after numerous service calls we replaced the dishwasher with a Maytag. Your dishwasher did not clean dishes from day one. We suffered for 9 years. The paint and I stress PAINT on the stainless steel microwave wore off the handle after a year. The range has needed the control panel replaced 4 times. The off button fails every 2 years. The ice maker has been replaced 4 times. The last time the tech told us we had the freezer set too cold. Can you imagine? A freezer, too cold? There were many other service issues that I will not mention because I consider them normal wear and tear. These totaled about $1000 over 9 years, which I think is acceptable. The cost for the unacceptable repairs is in excess of $3500.

We have an 18-month old KitchenAid refrigerator - high end model with the freezer on the bottom. It began to leak water that settled at the bottom of the freezer. After a time, it would freeze so much that it would eventually leak out onto the floor. We looked in the book - no help there. I found your forum and a problem just like ours (same model even). They said it turned out to be a grommet that was too small and that a new style had been developed. So we wrote to KitchenAid about this. They denied that there were any problems. After several conversations with them and a copy of one of your forum notes on this, they finally did agree to at least pay for the part. Well the appliance man came and fixed it. It was indeed the old style grommet. He said it happens all the time. We wrote to them again and asked them about paying the labor (part was about $12 and the labor is $100). No, they would not do this. Apparently, according to the repairman, this refrigerator is not the only one with this problem. This model is also sold by Maytag and some other - maybe Sears? Just slap a different name on them and they all have this problem. So buyer beware. Make sure that they check this out before you bring it home or you too will be paying the price to fix it. We really bought what we thought was a quality product (now that we are retired and didnt want to have to deal with repairs all the time). So much for that! KitchenAid support was of no help at all. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy another KitchenAid product!

Email to Trail Appliance: I meant to email you earlier but weve been away. All appliances are in and look great. Were just wondering though if a support might be missing from the fridge. Ive attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. The shelf above the two crisper drawers seems to be missing a middle support? Because as soon as you put any items on it, it really sags in the middle. You can see the glass shelf separating from its white plastic rim and then gap between two crisper drawers getting wider at the bottom. Are we missing a piece or is there anyway to fix this? It seems such an obvious flaw. Trails response: I have checked both units on the floor and neither have a little support... so sorry... It does seem odd that it does not though. My last email to Trail: So what are our options? I must say every time I open the fridge door - what I see (that sagging shelf) is unacceptable. I thought we were upgrading our 17 year old appliances - but it appears not, and Im sure that anyone else who has bought this fridge would be experiencing the same issue. So just wondering what my options are? Does KtichenAid stand behind the supposed quality (or lack thereof) of their products or are we on our own? And what about Trail Appliances? Where do they stand on selling crap (pardon the harsh language) like this? Suggestions? Waiting on response to this last email - but would NOT recommend buying this fridge for this reason.

The KitchenAid Double Oven KODE500ESS is advertised as an Even Heat True Co
The KitchenAid Double Oven KODE500ESS is advertised as an Even Heat True Convection with Even Heat Preheat. The machine is attractive with its huge viewing windows, its highly polished finish, its commercial style handles, and blue enamel interiors. The electronics are elaborate. You are able to adjust almost every function of the oven should you wish to so, down to alarm sound loudness, and calibrating the oven without a technician nearby. However, this oven is not without fundamental flaws. The engineering is deficient in crucial areas: the temperature sensors are located near the top broiler unit, a unit which is used in the preheat cycle resulting in unreliable preheat readings; the heat release vent is located at the top near the electronics components, which could be affected by the extreme temperatures, such as those used in the cleaning cycle, ultimately causing an oven computer crash. We chose this oven based on the many positive reviews and have had the oven for 6 months. Even after talking with KitchenAid representatives and two repairmen, we have yet to feel comfortable with the ovens ability to function properly. First, the preheat operation is worthless due to the location of the sensor. When the preheated indicator sounds after 8-10 minutes, the oven is probably 20-30 minutes away from the achieving the desired heat, should it ever be attained. Second, the highly emphasized Even Heat claim is questionable. Once attained, the temperature can, by design, fluctuate. This we understand and have no problem with fluctuations, unless the variations are large. We have experienced 50-degree swings. We have agonized with uneven cooking in many directions: dishes done on the sides, unfinished in the middle; dishes browned on one corner, not on the others; when two dishes in same oven baked at same temperature, both requiring same number of minutes, one will be done before the other. The repairmen state there is nothing they can do to fix these problems. This is not a bakers oven. It is not even a novice’s oven. It certainly is not as functional as our previous ones. It is unreliable, untrustworthy and we wish this one were not ours. If KitchenAid planned to put an extremely inferior product on the market prematurely at an exorbitant price, they have exceeded their expectations.

I want to start by saying that the only KitchenAid appliance I have in my kitchen is a fridge. Model #KBLS19KTMS1 S/N K21016987. If you are in the market for a fridge, dont buy this one. I purchased it from a company called Trail Appliances. It made a loud noise from day one. They attempted to fix it, it started again, too loud to sleep. They came again and when they left it started again. I asked them to take it away. I did not want a KitchenAid. They would not do that. They did an in-apartment surgery on it that took two hours and replaced the generator. The noise stopped. It is still loud but not screeching loud. But now the bottom drawer freezer just turns off. It has ruined food a number of times. Ice cream...forget it. Ice cubes, meat..defrosts to the point where it either has to be thrown out or cooked immediately.I hate this appliance. I tell everyone I know not to buy KitchenAid. I have a Miele dishwasher, an LG gas convection stove and a Breville convection counter oven. They all work. KitchenAid sucks. It is a total disappointment and was from day one. Today it ruined another load in the freezer. I will be getting rid of this appliance because it continues to cost me money. Dont let it cost you too.

The control board is faulty, and they NO LONGER make the part - for a 6-year-old (expensive) refrigerator! When I called the parts company in CA (which KitchenAid said MIGHT have the part), the person was very helpful and said he moans every time he gets one of these calls. My parents bought this French door refrigerator Model # KRFC704FPS00 3 months ago (July 2017) from Sears in Cerritos. They paid a lot of money for this fridge. We called Sears first but because there’s no extended warranty, they don’t wanna schedule a service. Assistant Manager tried to help but that went down the drain. At first, it was making little to no ice then ice build up on the bottom drawer then few days after it was making this loud sound and not cooling anymore.I called, emailed, left messages through their website. No response. Posted on their FB wall. Responded so fast. Technicians scheduled, came and told my mom to go to Sears. Called Sears told me to contact Kitchenaid. Get the drift. Scheduled for repairs then days came near the technician reschedules. This is unscrupulous, delaying tactic that this company is doing. My mom’s health is at stake because she is taking insulin. Is there a way to help us just get a new refrigerator and get my parents money back? Please help.

The second problem was I could not turn the stove off, had to use the house circuit breaker. The final problem occurred today, I heard a continuous beeping sound in the kitchen and the stove was burning. The control panel was not on, the stove was extremely hot, smoke filled the kitchen and there was a continuous red glow on the back wall, inside the stove. I turned off the main breaker and call New York Bravest. If we were not home at the time our home would have surely been damaged by fire. Three years ago I upgraded my entire kitchen with stainless KitchenAid appliances, after much research - with a hefty price tag. I liked that the products were made in the USA and that they were considered high-end appliances. I even replaced a Bosch dishwasher (it did not live up to its reputation). The oven cost $1500 and change at the time of purchase, and the model is now over $1900. Two and a half years later my oven started having problems - it turns off during cooking and will not come back on. I had repair people out several times but they could not fix it. Turns out it needs a whole new keyboard, which is over $800 just for the part. I tried to contact KitchenAid customer service - yes, this was out of the 1 year warranty but I felt that it should not be having such problems after only 2.5-3 years (the oven that I replaced was 15 years old and was in perfect working order - and was a much lower-end appliance).Anyway, I have tried in vain to get KitchenAid to help me but they will not. My dishwasher has also had several pieces fall off that have had to be replaced. You would think this company would help their customers but no, they ignored my letter. All I wanted was to purchase a new oven at a discount - which they would normally allow but they will not let me do so because I have a home warranty plan (which I had not used to help in any way other than to diagnose the issue). Shame on KitchenAid for such horrible customer service, and for selling overpriced appliances that do not last and definitely are NOT worth the high prices. I bought this range during a kitchen remodel some months ago. While it is a good-looking range, it is dangerously easy to turn the knobs on without noticing. If you lean against the knobs, Id even say brush up against them, they turn on with no flame, and you end up with gas escaping until somebody smells it. My spouse has no sense of smell, so its usually me that notices. Id say this happens weekly at least. (You also have to be very careful not to lean on the control panel on the top of the stove, as that will turn on the ovens.) Overall, as I said, a nice looking range but this is a design flaw that so far KitchenAid have refused to acknowledge. When I contacted them about it, they told me I could buy bushings to prevent this happening - so why do they sell bushings if they dont think its a problem? Very disappointed.

Bought the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUD301XSS9 in July 2013. 13 months later, like many of these other reviews, had to replace the plastic tabs on the top rack on both sides. Of course, they were on back order (apparently a lot of replacements of those parts on the top rack). I went ahead and ordered two sets for each side, anticipating this will happen in another 12 months or so. The plastic does not appear to be able to stand up to the high temperatures generated by this dishwasher. Had I known that Kitchen Aid was owned by Whirlpool, who also owns Maytag, which, in my opinion, is absolutely the WORST appliance manufacturer since the beginning of time, I would not have bought one. The old slogan from the 1980s about the Maytag Repairman being lonely would not be applicable today... Apparently neither would the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher repairman. Heading over to GE the next time, at least They Bring Good Things to Life, and one of those Good Things will be in the form of a better dishwasher to my home. Now this model is not all bad. The good thing about this model is the same thing that probably cause the problem to begin with... it does dry very good. What KA needs to understand is no consumer wants to be replacing ANY part after only 13 months of service. From reading the reviews, I am not totally convinced they are able to grasp that concept.

I always bought KitchenAid for my appliances. I considered myself a good customer but right now Im completely dissatisfied and angry because on what is happening with my Range Oven/Microwave (Model KEMC308KSS01 - Serial XR5013510). I bought it on Nov. 2004. I had the Service Saver Agreement until 2005. On Jan 2005, the microwave glass door exploded for the first time. We replaced the glass with their service rep, Allstate Factory Service, for $400. On Nov 2005, the same glass exploded again, another $400 to replace it. We replaced the glass with their rep from Appliance Expert Appliance Repair. For the Third time on March 05 2012, the glass exploded again. The microwave glass door always exploded when was not in operation. We already spent $800 replacing the microwave glass door for a microwave that should work fine at the first place. We never experienced such a bad performance by any KitchenAid products before. I have to assume that the Range Oven/Microwave that I bought has a defect from manufacture, faulty and represent a safety hazard. Maybe they should have issue a recall of this model. But to tell you the truth, we feel scared about this product. We know it will cause an explosion or a fire or glass will start flying in the air, etc. We expecting to obtain a replacement since the unit never work properly and represent a safety hazard.

The refrigerator is on the expensive side but has a beautiful style. I also love the two extra drawers for drinks and produce. Ice maker components are metal not plastic like other refrigerators so it is much better for crushing ice and less likely to break. Plus ice maker is on the door so it doesnt take up space on the shelf of refrigerator. However, fingerprints are a problem and theres not enough storage space on the doors.

I bought my KitchenAid dishwasher model KDTM354DSS5 from Best Buy on December 10th 2017. I noticed my dishes werent coming out clean and went on a trip to NY. When I got back my floor was covered in water. I called the repair center at Best Buy and they told me the warranty expired on the 10th of December 2018. What the heck - 9 days later and you cant cover it. They sent me to a call center and the lady sold me service plan for $286.00. I called the service provider and they told me I cant use it for 60 days and that they wont cover the repair since it happened prior. Do not buy KitchenAid which is Whirlpool in disguise. I spent over a $1000.00 for a dishwasher that didnt hold up for a year. It is the pump. A very costly repair.

I have a KitchenAid double wall oven, convection on top. While running the self-clean on the top oven for the first time, the oven door glass shattered about 1.5 hours into the cycle. There is a near identical complaint on this website. KitchenAid will cover the part, but not the labor. I had shattered hot glass all over my kitchen floor because it slides out the bottom crack. It got into the bottom oven, shards come out every time I open either oven, even though I tried to vacuum in the cracks. Really KitchenAid?

We did a total kitchen remodel and included a dishwashing machine, which the house never had before. We sprung for the higher end stainless steel tub KitchenAid KDFE104DSS1 (2016). 3 months later the machine stopped moving water, but could still drain. Warranty phone call... repair tech does two visits... one for diagnosis and one for part install (new pump). Up and running. 5 months later same deal. Another warranty call and two visits... back up and running. Now I notice the rusting slide rails for the upper deck. Now into the out of warranty mode and the pump fails again.Going shopping today for a cheaper machine... putting the KitchenAid trash out on the curb for the recycle guy. BTW there were intermittent events for soap dispenser door not opening. (No dishes in the way.) Food pieces splashed around hanging on the walls... and then theres the smell. This model likes to hold used water between washes and after just one day of no use, OMG what a stank.

Provided by contractor - 6 burner stove top, large oven. Gas range, electric oven - the preferred method of most cooks - at least the ones that are getting up there in age! Great size oven so when whole family gets together - over 20 and adding - it is big enough to accommodate all dishes - top with 6 burners is big enough to let 2 people cook comfortably - the more the merrier!

W10476359A - This is the WORST dishwasher we have EVER owned!! Initially many of the dishes had food residue after the cycle so in addition to the usual rinsing we began wiping many of the dishes. However we continue to have some food residue on dishes and cutlery and need to re-wash them. We have purchased other dishwashers in the past that were less expensive but clearly better quality. This dishwasher was included in our new townhouse and although it looks sleek and is relatively quiet, its true purpose which is to clean dishes is atrociously substandard. I will NEVER buy another KitchenAid dishwasher!!

I’ve had the cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave for three years. THREE YEARS!!! The refrigerator stopped cooling. The next day the freezer stopped freezing. We waited five weeks for the one and only repair company in our area, Guinco, to come out. Was told that a part, which was no longer under warranty $507, had malfunctioned. Waited another four weeks for the part to come in. When the part arrived they put it on and then discovered the condenser, which thankfully is under warranty, $1,000+, was no good. So now we’re having to wait another six weeks for the new condenser. Practically four months. That is totally absurd. Why they feel only one company in my state is authorized to work on these substandard appliances, I don’t know. Luckily we have an older refrigerator in the garage. My husband went out and bought a portable ice maker, also. I read on the website that Kitchenaid/Whirlpool products can last between 15-17 years. If that’s the case for the “few” products that do not last longer than three years, it should be an automatic replacement. That would be excellent customer service. Do not buy this product. Run, do not pass. Go as far away from this cheap as heck product. The product “looks” fabulous but it’s all a delusion. Again, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS CRAP PRODUCT.

Two years ago I bought what I thought was a beautiful new refrigerator (Model KFFS20EYMS01). It was a lot of money for a teacher. However I was excited to replace my 20 year old Whirlpool. What a dumb mistake. I thought Id done my research but apparently not. Six months after the warranty had worn out the machine began to over chill and making a racket of noise. After jumping through hoops and many many angry phone calls to KitchenAid and their repair contractors they agreed to pay for the repair. But it didnt fix the problem. This went on for two months. It was a nightmare. Now a year later, again the machine is building up ice. Do not buy a KitchenAid. I will never again.

You have been fair warned. If you still buy a KitchenAid refrigerator after reading this then you have no right to complain. Total piece of junk - completely failed after less than 2 years. We lost several hundred dollars of food. Apt Appliances offered to do nothing but charge a $165 service call with a $400 labor minimum. This is after I bought ALL my appliances from them for a new house build. I called KitchenAid and they too denied warranty until I really started complaining and only then did they remember that there is some 2-4 year warranty covering many major parts and I could just purchase a warranty plan for $300 odd dollars to cover labor. They have zero pride in their product. I know the days of 30 year old appliances are gone, but 2 years - really???? Furthermore, their customer service people were aloof and rude. The best I can hope for is a class action law suit. Hopefully some law firm does a search that that term and stumbles upon these posts and takes action against them. This is what I get for buying made in America? Hopefully Honda will start making appliances!!!! In closing, may Satan curse KitchenAid.

After 2 years my KitchenAid Dishwasher model #KUDC10IXBL2 needed a new circuit board replacement. We had an extended service contract - great you would think, but not so. After replacement, we had water leaking from the dishwasher. Now my hardwood floors are lifting and I have bowls under the door to catch leaking water. This is after numerous repairs of the gasket. KitchenAid does not take responsibility for damage done to your personal property. KitchenAid also contracts with a repair company called A&E. A&E gives you a time frame for repair between 8 am and 5 pm, so to say the least we have lost out on vacation time as we need to take a day off for repair. Each time the repair guy comes additional damage is done - most times they forget to have ordered the necessary parts, so need to reschedule to come back out. This last time I phone KitchenAid who told me the service guy could deem the appliance a lemon, however the service guy told us they would not allow him to do this. A&E has put into repairs on this dishwasher over $800 and we paid $535 for the item. Last week A&E came out again, it ran well before they left. The next day I went to run the dishwasher and bolts popped off and the unit gushed water. Seriously! My recommendation would be research your product well, not purchase a service contract through KitchenAID and ask if the service repair company contracted with is A&E. Bad experience and the poorest customer service ever!

Updated on 06/03/2020: In my last review from Sept 2018 I indicated that fridge was not repaired yet. In Oct 2018 the main circuit board was replaced for 2nd time. Fast forward to June 2020. Fridge is randomly shutting off all cooling and needs to be rebooted to work again. Service call indicated that main circuit board is faulty. Result is that fridge is going to the trash as Im not spending another dime on it. Following is what I have spent on this six year old fridge, which doesnt include a complete replacement of cooling system under warranty: 10/05/18-$570.65 09/12/18-$100.57 09/15/17-$303.97 08/31/17-$100.57 11/04/16-$404.2610/19/16-$100.57Original Review: Purchased 5 years ago. Constant problems including: 1/ Fridge not staying cold - year 1. Fan that pushes cold air to the fridge from freezer failed. 2/ Freezer not staying cold - year 2. Complete replacement of cooling system - under warranty. 3/ Constantly restarting - year 4. Fridge would shut down and restart many times per day. Sometimes it would show PO (Power Out) warning. Circuit boards replaced - not under warranty. 4/ Stopped making ice cubes - year 4. Replaced ice making unit - not under warranty. 5/ Constantly restarting - year 5. Not repaired yet. 6/ Flimsy shelving. Re-glued a number of internal drawers because they were falling apart. 7/ Noisy. Wasnt bad when originally purchased but after #2 and #4 repairs it got progressively worse and now sounds like a freight train running. I will never purchase another KitchenAid nor anything else by the manufacturer of KitchenAid.

I have had problems with my KitchenAid gas range right out of the box. I purchased it for $2500 about 4 years ago. Just after the first year, self-igniting elements failed, so I phoned customer service - the worst customer service I have ever experienced! In short, a $500 repair bill to have a tech repair the problem. I have been using a lighter ever since! The convention oven worked 50% of the time. After one year, I finally have to go buy a new oven after only 4 years because the pilot failed to ignite the gas oven - very dangerous part to fail. I will never buy another KitchenAid product as long as I live. KichenAid Brand is owned by Whirlpool, and I will purchase any product Whirlpool sells. For what should be the top of the line for the Whirlpool Corporation, you should run not walk away from any KitchenAid dishwasher you see in the showroom. We purchased a new home less than 3 years ago which had a brand new Kitchenaid dishwasher. We are a family of 6 who cooks at home most nights so the dishwasher gets a lot of use. In the less than 3 years we have had the control panel motherboard replaced 2 times (thankfully under warranty) and last week the dishwasher started to leak significant amounts of water ruining part of our kitchen floor. We had a technician come out and he knew right away it was the sump. He openly said this thing is a lemon which Whirlpool has known about for years and refuses to fix. We asked if we could fix it and his response was Sure, these are one of the parts I carry with me to all jobs because they fail so much. However the repair cost was almost $500 so we have decided to send this piece of junk to the curb and purchase another brand. Whirlpool has lost a customer for life.

We purchased a new refrigerator 2 weeks ago. The first one that was delivered was defective and after sending out a repair crew that could not fix it, it was replaced with a second defective refrigerator. After spending hours on the phone, KitchenAid sent out a repair company that stated the entire compressor and coils needed to be replaced and compared it to a new car needing a brand new engine and suggested having KitchenAid deliver us a new refrigerator. We requested that KitchenAid either deliver a brand new working refrigerator or pick up the defective one and refund us our money so we can buy another refrigerator elsewhere. KitchenAid refused and told us they just cant help us even though the refrigerator never worked from day 1 and is under warranty for 30 days. We spent a lot of money for a brand new refrigerator and do not want a rebuilt model when we paid for a new one. We have been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks now, have spent numerous hours taking off from work waiting for delivery and repair people and KitchenAid is not willing to assist us or even offered us any kind of concessions to make this situation right. We are extremely disappointed with this company, their customer service and how they conduct their business.

In 2009, we remodeled our kitchen and we went to Steeles Warehouse in Butte to look at appliances. We wanted a good quality and because we had heard good things about KitchenAid, that is what we looked at. After doing some research, we decided to purchase our entire kitchen appliances and to go with the KitchenAid. The first month we had our dual fuel convection range, the lights went out in the oven. We called the recommended service tech and he replaced them. A short time later (approx. three months) the lights once again burned out, and again we called the tech and he once again replaced them. At that time, the oven also was not working and he said it needed a new motherboard and replaced it. Now several months later once again, the stove is not working and once again the lights are out, again. We bought the recommended extended warranty only to find out you have outsourced it to a company that will not cover the stove under the warranty because it could have been a power surge? I will never purchase another product from the Whirlpool company. Because if you cant fix it, what is the sense in having it? We spent $3,300 for this stove and cant use it. What do you recommend?

I too experienced the dishwasher top rack roller failure. The top rack rollers are secured by (2) cheap very thin plastic spreader clips. These clips are approximately 3/16 wide by 1/16 thick. If just one of these cheap clips breaks - the roller wheel will separate causing the rack to collapse along with progressive failure of the adjoining roller wheel clips. This deliberate design and manufacturing defect by KitchenAid is an obvious attempt at planned obsolesce. This once celebrated company is no longer interested in producing durable quality products. I have a KitchenAid build in refrigerator that is 9 years old, the board needs replacement. I called Whirlpool (owns Kitchenaid) and after their service provider came in they diagnosed that the board needs to be replaced. Here is where the problem starts and the reason of of my 2 star review. They informed me that the part if not available, that they have no idea when it will be available, and that they can not provide a date or any other resolution. Basically what they told me is your 9 year old $8,000 product can stop working and we do not care if we produce the parts to service it anyone. Please do not buy any product from a company that cannot produce the parts to fix it after only 9 years. I know the time seems like a long life, but 9 years life for a $8K product is not a reasonable expectation. Last the customer service is very poor, representative refused to escalate, or provide any other resolution. They really do expect that I have to accept a no working refrigerator while I am waiting for some magical date to resolve the issue on a part that they do not produce anymore. I do not recommend the product. Companies should stand behind what they produce and provide the parts to service it (not for free I am happy to pay).

This is the second Kitchenaid refrigerator I owned. The first one had problems right from the start. Multiple repairs within the year. Symptoms were not cooling properly, no ice, ice buildup on evaporator coil. Kitchenaid finally replaced the unit because of leak in sealed system. The second one came Jan 2018. By March had issues again. The same problems. Ice build up, no ice, not holding temp. 5 more house calls, loss of food, missed work then conveniently after the manufacturers Warranty expired Kitchenaid deemed it unrepairable. How convenient. I could have told them that back in March. The only problem is that now I am in extended warranty and they only offer 70% of the value. They would not say why it was unrepairable (the sealed system again which should have a 5 year manufactures warranty). I know this because its the same problem as the first one and the same symptoms on last house call. What else would be unrepairable?? I spent 4 hours on phone trying to get satisfaction but they just said, I can transfer you but it will be same answer. Unbelievable that they would rather lose customers for life than replace what is apparently a Manufacturing issue. You can search for class action lawsuits and find many complaints on the same issue. They simply do not care.... I actually believe they deliberately instructed the repair people what to do to stretch out the time to avoid giving me another replacement or my full purchase price money back. I read a post where someone said their KitchenAid fridge had finally broken down after 15 years and that it served her well. Major appliances used to last decades, and still should last that long. Think about how much you pay for them 15 years is nothing. Our fridge has a pull down bin in the door that pops open every time we open the door. Even with nothing inside, rendering the space useless. Plus, the bottom of the freezer pools with water which then turns to ice making it impossible to close the freezer door. So far I have had to unplug it and thaw it out five times. If that sounds like nothing, remember you have to put all your groceries somewhere. Tonight instead of enjoying the beautiful summer evening, I made many trips up and down the basement stairs bringing groceries back into the fridge. My oven is also a mess. The knobs get so hot that my friend burned her arm on them. I cant imagine how this passed inspection. NOT SAFE if a toddler was around. Thats okay because she was in the middle of a remodel and was considering my oven until that happened, and I filled her in on the rest. Also, the back panel on the stove is made of resin! I thought it was stainless in the store. So needless to say it is peeling. I guess that is the reason they had the stupid idea to put the smaller burners in the back and the mega burners in front. So much fun trying to reach over a large pot of boiling water to stir a small saucepan in back. Does KitchenAid have third graders designing their appliances??? Clearly not someone who has any knowledge of a cooks needs. I will never purchase anything by KitchenAid ever again. Not even a can opener.

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.

The refrigerator - cheaply made vegetable bins that fall apart (front panel comes off), water filter needs to be replaced almost monthly. The dishwasher is the only appliance I have no major complaints for. Very quiet and does a good job on plates, glasses, and silverware (wash pots by hand). I regret not updating the GE Profile appliances I replaced with this purchase.

We bought this KitchenAid refrigerator 20 years ago and never had a problem with it. All our appliances are KitchenAid and they do a great job. The only complaint that I have is that it is a double door and it is very small inside. I like big and roomy appliances. This is not a roomy appliance but it works for us. We have to purchase new appliances. I look for ones with room and efficiency.

Purchased over stove microwave 3-4yrs ago. KHMC1857BSSO. The microwave was rarely used and there is a crack in the plastic seal around the door, KitchenAid refused to fix it even though I have warranty. Now the door wobbles and gets jammed. Still under warranty, called customer service and they will not fix - calling it cosmetic. Do NOT purchase their extended warranty, its a ripoff. Extremely dissatisfied with KitchenAid and their customer service.

I have had my KitchenAid slide in range for 3 years, model KGRS807SSS00. Ive had the panel burn out twice while cleaning the oven. Repairman said that this happens quite often due to the fact that the oven heats up so high that it burns out the panel. This seems like a defect with the appliance yet KitchenAid refuses to believe it is their problem and wont repair it. Last time I will ever buy a KitchenAid.

When I pulled the top rack out to unload it, the left side collapsed without any warning, spilling dishes and glasses down onto the crockery in the bottom rack and out onto the floor. When I looked for the cause, it was obvious that one of the two flimsy plastic “spring” pegs that retain each wheel of the upper rack on its axle had broken. This allowed the wheel to pull off the axle and thereby allow the entire left side of the top rack to collapse. It seems to me the axles on the rack adjuster (part number W10350376) are very poorly designed and is not made as solidly as the wheels on the lower rack. This is despite the fact that both upper and lower racks are of the same dimensions and so to me as an average consumer, both should be able to support a full load of dishes.

Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars
Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars. I purchased the full range of KitchenAid equipment (microwave, dishwasher KUDS02VR and gas range, architect II). Fortunately for us, we also purchased the extended warranty even though I thought with top end equipment we probably would not need it.The microwave has had multiple call outs over the 4 years of owning the piece: F2 errors, cooling fans that dont just turn on but partially start then stop then start for a second then stop and start for 10 minutes or so at a time. Its driving me nuts! The dishwasher has trouble cleaning anything. It leaves dishes dirty and the glasses have developed white film on them. Dishwasher has gotten clogged and according to the technician because we have the audacity to use it . We now use dishwasher magic every month.Range oven: First of all, the door lock keeps locking with an error when you use the oven above 400F and you cannot open the oven door until it has cooled down and you reboot the system by removing power, this you have to do multiple time before the door complies. We replaced locking mechanism, now it seems to work at last. Secondly, every time you use the clean oven function, the electronics go on the frizz. Now, we are without an oven again for a week while we get a technician to come again to look and hopefully fix the electronic issue.Through all this (including digital movies of the issues, pictures etc., sent to KitchenAid), the general response has been that all equipment works as designed. Works as designed! They should fire the designers and send the specs to some elementary school kids who could do a better job!I, for one, hate KitchenAid and will never buy another product from them again and will tell as many people as I can how lousy their products are.

I wish I had seen this site before we purchased our KitchenAid Stainless Steel range, Model #YKESS907. One year after buying, we tried the self-cleaning function for the first time. It blew out the thermostat, shut down the front panel, and locked the oven. I had it replaced under warranty and didnt think to try it out again, until one year later. Turned it on and exactly the same thing happened. My retailer picked up the cost of the thermostat but I paid the $175 service call. Once up and running, I turned on the self-cleaning function with the service guy still there. He left and 90 minutes later, it blew again.Sounds like I am ** in regard to Kitchenaid doing anything about it. Anyone know a lawyer who owns one as well? $2300 plus tax for an appliance that doesnt do what it is supposed to do.

I have never written a review, but compelled to because my experience with KitchenAid has been so terrible. I wish it was possible to rate KitchenAid zero stars. I have had nothing but problems with my brand new KitchenAid refrigerator (model #krmf706ess01) since I purchased it in January of 2017. In the last 7 months I have had to call KitchenAid on numerous occasions. The first time I called regarding the freezer because it had completely frozen over - The drawers would not slide open/shut because it was frozen solid. There was blocks of ice everywhere and all of our food was freezer burned. A technician from one of their hired contractors came out to fix the problem and afterward instructed us to empty the freezer for 24 hours and everything would go back to normal. We did so - throwing away all of the freezer burned food which was probably close to $300 worth of food. We refilled the freezer after that 24 hour period and the same thing happened again! Ruining all of my food again, and refreezing over again. At the same time, we began having problems with the water dispenser/ice maker leaking into the fridge. We called again and KitchenAid said they would send someone out. They scheduled the appointment for August 3rd - using the same repair contractor. I was given a 4 hour window meaning I had to stay home from work. August 3rd - nobody shows up or calls. I call Kitchen Aid to let them know that happened and after sitting on hold for 57 minutes, I was finally told that repair contractor needed to order a gasket and it would take 2-3 days to come in, but because of the inconvenience of nobody showing up, they would work with my schedule when rescheduling and give me a targeted time. Even though I complained about my food being ruined 2 times, nothing was done or said about that.2-3 days then passes by and nobody from the repair contractor called. 4 days later, someone finally calls and said they had to also order an ice maker in addition to the gasket. They have not seen the leakage problem at this point, but theyre ordering parts? Another 3 days passes and nobody called, so I called them. They let me know they had us scheduled for a technician to come out the next day. When was somebody going to tell me? They said they would try to get us a morning appointment. When I told them KitchenAid said they would work with my schedule, they just said they would try. I immediately called KitchenAid, explained this whole fiasco all over again, and the customer service rep offered me a $125 gift card for the ruined food, and said to have the technician come out one more time, and if problems still persisted after that, they would give us the option to either replace the unit or choose another refrigerator. The next day the repair contractor came with no parts that they claimed they had ordered and were waiting on. The guy looked at the freezer, said Wow thats really bad and claimed we needed a new door, which Kitchen Aid would need to approve, and would take 4-6 weeks to come in. He looked at the ice maker and said he would take care of that another time. I called Kitchen Aid immediately. The representative proceeded to tell me that they will not replace the refrigerator that their policy requires a certain amount of information and severity and our case does not qualify for a replacement as per their policy. He said the representative I already spoke to should have never promised me something thats not true. When I expressed my concerns - needing to miss work again, not being able to store food, having only $125 reimbursed even though I probably lost about $500 worth of food - his response was I understand, but offered no real solution. The only option he gave me was to send someone from a different repair contractor for a second opinion. So now I am left waiting on another appointment, with another technician, along with another day lost from work. The pictures Ive attached dont even begin to show how terrible the freezer ended up getting - this only shows the beginning of the problem. I am unbelievably disappointed in the product and service. When you spend thousands of dollars on a new refrigerator, you expect it to work properly.

We purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid bottom freezer refrigerator in September 2013. It was fine for a year, but suddenly the PO sign showed up on display board and nothing has been right since then. Upon calling Whirlpool (30 minutes on phone) they suggested we call the repair companies listed on their website. First company we called was Diamond Repair and that guy fiddled around and since he could not figure out the problem, told us that the fault was with the outlet in our brand new built house! Ok, so we called the builder and they looked at it and declared it fine but changed it to a brand new one. Problem continued with the constant beeping and PO symbol on. Then I called Maytag company to look at it and that has been a nightmare. After the first tech left, our water dispenser that was working fine till then, stopped dispensing. They said that maybe it was a coincident that it failed and their tech was not at fault. What!!! They are simply unhelpful. Their techs come out and between the two visits they have changed each and every circuit board, to no avail. Much to our chagrin, whenever I call Whirlpool customer service center, and speak to a manager, they make me repeat the problem, promise me that they will call back and I never hear from them!! One time they supposedly ordered new door for this fridge, but the tech from May-tag came with new circuit boards and did know anything about any door being ordered. I wash my hands off Whirlpool company. The fridge was clearly a lemon. In all the years of owning several refrigerators, this has by far been the worst fridge we have owned but the Whirlpool customer service has been pathetic, to say the least. I will make sure none of my next appliance is even partly owned by Whirlpool!

He told me he would return when I took everything out of my fridge and freezer, so I did. He returned a couple days later. He looked at it for about 10 minutes and said he had to order some parts. 3 months later he returns after the parts arrived at my house, he shows up opens the doors of the fridge started taking it apart, broke one of my shelving slides in the process then I see him cut a 3 or 4 wire plug off and said, Oh you dont need that, so to remind you the ice block is completely melted by now. He said these Kitchenaid refrigerators all freeze up so when hes done he leaves 2 months later the same problem. I thawed out the ice block again then worked fine for 2 months then again in 2 months the same and thats my life with this garbage Refrigerator! DONT EVER BUY A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR! I purchased this 36 built-in side by side in 6/06 with the thought that it would be a good refrigerator --I couldnt be more wrong!! At 3 years, we started having problems. So far repairs include a new circuit board, hinge repairs, evaporator, drier, compressor and fan motor, and an ugly repair kit to cover up the burned area that runs the full length - top to bottom - on the front panel between the freezer and refrigerator doors that happened because KitchenAid didnt put a big enough fan motor in. And here again, it is leaking Freon, so the entire refrigerator has to be gutted again to replace the evaporator, compressor, heat loop and? KitchenAid will cover the parts at an approx. cost of $800-$1000, this type of sealed system is covered for 12 years. The labor, however, is out of my pocket at $2,000.One of the repair techs told me these type of sealed systems RARELY go bad which is why KitchenAid backs them up for so long. Go figure!! And, did I mention the cost of food spoilage!! GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHENAID!!! Oh, and I need to mention the KitchenAid convection oven that had to be replaced early on (under warranty) and the microwave oven that was replaced 3 times and after that I put up with door that didnt quite and still doesnt fit quite right. GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHENAID!!!! WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER -- even with the discount they are happily giving me to buy another $8,000 refrigerator!!

Let me begin by saying that when my husband and I built our home 8 years ago, we researched and thought Kitchen Aid was the best product and value for our budget. We have had nothing but trouble with all three of the appliances we bought from Sears that were Kitchen Aid! Our Kitchen Aid stainless steel Dishwasher that we paid entirely too much money for worked for about 3 years and then we had to replace several parts on it. It lasted about another 3 years and we finally decided to throw it away and purchase the cheapest Kenmore dishwasher we could find! It has worked perfect! When our stainless steel Kitchen Aid fridge was 7 years old, the ice maker went out... We have yet to get it replaced! Our stainless steel Kitchen Aid double oven has been giving us problems for about 2 years when it was 7 years also! The bottom oven went out on us this past Easter so we have only the top oven working... So now Christmas Eve, when I preheated the top oven to cook my Christmas Eve dinner, the oven began to smoke at 240 degrees! Oh my goodness....whose appliances go out on major holidays! We paid a ridiculously large amount ($10,000.00) for all 3 of the appliances and are so disappointed that now we have to either pay a repair man to fix our double or just go ahead and buy a cheap double oven. I will never buy or suggest anyone buy Kitchen Aid for sure!

On 11/18/2010, I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher, 22 12552. This dishwasher has been a nightmare. I purchased extended warranty and thank God I did. We put it in and then it didnt get the dishes clean and wouldnt dry them and it was eating jet dry like it was going out of style. I had several service calls on this problem. Then they replaced it 30 days later. Now, this dishwasher is a piece of **. They have put in 3 different panels of the controls, that all I do is wait from 5 to 12 for them to show up plus I am without a dishwasher for a week till they can come out. Then I have to wait another week for the part to show up. They came out this last time on 7-23-2012 and they left and the problems started all over even though they put in a new panel. I have no idea what your company did to ruin a good dishwasher but this is a piece of **. Now, they tell me this is the fourth time today, 7-25-2012, so they will replace it. Well, I guess my question is, am I going to have the same problems that I had with the other 3 dishwashers they have given me? They are taking my time and all the work to put this in again and again and again. Your company should fix this problem you are having with this dishwasher. I always swore by Sears and Whirlpool and KitchenAid products but I tell you what, I will never do business with Sears and never buy a Whirlpool product either. I realize you dont care. I am only one person but thats really how I feel.

Three weeks later while doing a baked potato in it on sense position, it caught on fire melting the plastic inside. They came out and stated it wasnt repairable so now they would only give a replacement value of the $484.49, so I had to add money to it just to get another microwave. Only this time I bought a GE. I am an electrician and repair appliances, Ive kept all the appliances in my house going for many years by diagnosing and repairing them myself. I recently bought a condo which has KitchenAid appliances; a French-door refrigerator, a dishwasher, and an over-the-stove microwave. Although I am writing about the microwave as garbage, so is the refrigerator. The microwave is model YKHMS1850SS2. I knowingly bought the condo with this microwave, which is damaged, the door handle had broken off and the grill cover at the top has broken mounting tabs, thinking I could fix the damage at a reasonable cost which is not possible because Whirlpool, which owns KitchenAid, is replacement part price gouging. The parts are made of very cheap easily breakable plastic which probably cost Whirlpool very little to manufacture and look to be designed to break. If I could, I would take the door apart and replace the handle but the handle is not available as a separate part, only the whole door which costs half as much as a new KitchenAid microwave is available so I currently use a cheap suction auto body dent puller stuck to the glass door until I get a metal towel bar which I am going to cut down to the right size and mount it with the microwave handle screws that are currently protruding from the holes in the door cover which will last the lifetime of the microwaves electronics. The grill cover also costs quite a bit, the plastic mounting insert that fits in the stainless steel cover is not available separately so the two-part assembly also costs a lot of $$$ and is very wasteful because the stainless steel cover part, which is not damaged, will be redundant and dumped in the landfill. Instead of doing that, I am going to judiciously drill some holes in the plastic insert and use black tie-wraps to fasten it to the microwave. Kludged together but cheap and quick.Theres a big difference in the quality of appliances made in the 1970s and 1980s and now, the quality has very significantly declined and the price has significantly increased. In my house, I had a Maytag dishwasher, purchased in 1981, model WU300, which washed dishes very well and I kept it going by repairing it myself until about two months ago. It would still be running except the part needed is extremely hard to find. I replaced it with a Bosch dishwasher, probably made in the same US factory as Maytag/Whirlpool/KitchenAid. Ironically, just after it was installed and the old dishwasher was taken away I managed to find the repair part for it at an online used appliance parts supply for a very reasonable price. There really were the good old days for appliances.

We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dishwasher in 2007 when we renovated our kitchen. We have had to replace the control panel twice because when we attempted to self clean, it overheated and locked up. After reading other reviews, I am grateful the glass didnt break as well. The off button for the oven no longer works. Our work around is using the cook duration feature and setting it for 1 minute when we are finished using it. I couldnt tell you the model since everything has melted off the inside of the oven. The top grates broke almost immediately, the knobs are hot and the color has worn off. What I find most upsetting is the over range microwave starts by itself and beeps randomly and then shuts off with an F2 error. We have kept it unplugged when not in use. Out of principle, we have not wanted to replace these as we paid a considerable amount thinking we were buying quality. While apparently the microwave is known to start fires and Kitchenaid never sent us notification. Now our front burner on the stove is having excess gas and conducting mini explosions. We have had to repair the dishwasher multiple times as well. What garbage! I cant believe all of the reviewers who have the same problems and the KitchenAid does nothing to correct the flaws in their appliances. Never, NEVER AGAIN!

We purchased a KitchenAid (R) 5-Burner Gas Freestanding Double Oven Range 4
We purchased a KitchenAid (R) 5-Burner Gas Freestanding Double Oven Range 4 years ago. Almost from the beginning, we have had problems, particularly with the controls. We have had to replace one, or possibly two (cant remember) of the handles, three times, all at our cost. They simply were stuck and would not turn. However, what is more of concern is that the controls will turn to the on position simply if I brush up against one of them. Oftentimes I will hear the click, click, click that alerts me that the controls have turned on but have not ignited. However, frequently, there is no click; I am just alerted to the fact the stovetop has turned on when I begin to smell gas. This seems to me to be a major safety issue. I have talked to the company, to no avail. They tell me its out of warranty and I would have had to address this issue within the first year. As these things go, I cannot remember when we first experienced the problem. I suspect I probably thought it was just a fluke at first and did not think much about it. But, regardless, I would think KitchenAid would want to assure that no one experiences a major gas leak due to their faulty equipment.

Our KitchenAid is almost 25 years old and has performed with superb consistency. It seemed expensive at first, but after such great service, in hindsight, it has been of great value. I hope this review doesn't jinx it.

We’ve had many KitchenAid products and all have pretty reliable. Purchased top of the line model dishwasher 2 years and 4 months ago. The control board just went out. The part is covered by warranty but NOT THE LABOR. That is $249, about 1/5 of the original price. For the purchase price and the company’s profit margin, I wish companies would quite these boards from China because they are junk.

KitchenAid? More like KitchenFRAYED. Yesterday morning as we performed our regular cleaning on our KitchenAid fridge, a food takeout bag inside (not plastic) began to smoke. After several minutes of searching the house, looking for the fire, we checked inside the smoke infused fridge, noticing a charred bag as a result of the clearly DANGEROUS light bulb inside. What was a charred bag of smoke and ashes QUICKLY BURST INTO FLAMES!!! We had to call KitchenAid the following day (today) as they clearly do NOT take safety as a priority and have their phone lines open on Sundays and were immediately told it was our fault, not theirs, and completely BLAMED FOR the high-risk situation their fridge caused. Had we left the house or left the bag to smolder unknowingly, our whole HOUSE could have caught fire!!!There is pets and CHILDREN in this household but we were just informed it was our fault for leaving our barbeque takeout bag in the fridge it was required to be in. Horrible customer service, RUDE, unwilling to take responsibility and even wanted us to PAY to have it looked at after we couldve suffered the loss of our house, pets and family members inside. TRULY unbelievable and disgusted by KitchenAid. This fridge has had its issues from DAY ONE. We had to get a replacement immediately as it began to rust on its exterior within its first week in our house.Soon, bins began to crumble, plastic shards filling the interior as we suffered to obtain replacements. Of course, they were highly reluctant to send replacements and sent the bare minimum. HAZARDOUS, RUDE and IRRESPONSIBLE most definitely sum up the company as a whole. Do not recommend, especially if you wish to live your maximum lifespan and preserve your family, pets and friends.

We purchased a new five door KitchenAid refrigerator 16 months ago for over $3500. It stopped working two months ago. We found the local warranty service firm and they have been out here 5 times. They have replaced the compressor twice, and a specific valve once but have not been able to restore function to the unit. They came twice to take readings for KitchenAids tech department. Weve been 8 weeks without a refrigerator. The service people said they have done everything but the unit should be replaced. So far KitchenAid has not authorized a replacement. Sad state of affairs. I certainly wont buy another KitchenAid appliance.

Ok, so for the 2nd time in less than 3 years, the wheel clips on the top wash basket broke, which in turn makes the basket fall down and the washer inoperable. For the price I paid for this dishwasher I will tell you that I was a little more than miffed. The last time it happened, I called my home insurance company out because I did not have the time to deal with the washer (that cost me $70). This time I went online to see about ordering parts. I found this site (and after reading through numerous comments) I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in KitchenAid, especially when I see so many people experiencing the same problem as me. This is obviously a design flaw that needs fixing. So, why did I give them a rating of three? Because upon calling the company to lodge a complaint, I talked with a VERY nice, young lady who worked with me to figure out exactly which part I needed. No stalling, no dodging, she took care of business, put my parts on order and all with no charge to me. Her professionalism is the reason why I gave this a 3 star rating. I have found from experience that when a company has a problem with a product, if you call them (and stay courteous) 9 out of 10 times they will do what it takes to make it right. The lady I talked to was named ** and I am hoping that her supervisor sees this email. Again, thank you ** for your help and professionalism. Semper Fidelis.Updated on June 13, 2015: To be fair to KitchenAid, I am following up from a post I made on June 6th. My parts for the top rack wheel assembly arrived and I just finished installing them. I am happy to see that they have modified the wheel assembly actually using a metal plate this time and it looks like more solid connections for the wheels. I will give them a four star for now as I wait to see how well this modification holds up. Thank you KitchenAid for getting the parts to me in a timely manner. Semper Fi **.

KitchenAid (Maytag) came through for me on the third range delivered. For the record, the first range was defective, probably the thermostat, and the second range was dented so that the gas line could not connect. Im happy now with a working range, and its a terrific range.
