Brand new oven. Used oven in bake mode twice before. First time using in convection roast, set temp at 350, 45 minutes later heard a pop, went into kitchen, fine glass shards on floor, glass door in oven shattered. Called kitchenaid, they asked questions, said they would transfer me to the safety department, and disconnected me. I re-called, waited another 8 minutes and finally got connected to a person. Asked if anyone was hurt, I stated my dog got cut on his foot, they said they were sorry. They set up a repair appointment for the next week, they said if the repairperson had the glass they would fix it, otherwise they would order the part. I asked why they didnt tell them to bring the part, they said that was up to the repair people. I asked if there was any compensation for the meal in the oven covered in glass, they stated they dont do that. I asked if this was a recurring problem, she never did really answer, except to say that it is glass and glass does break. This issue really should be revealed when purchasing, and the extent of the problem revealed and pursued. If anyone had been in the kitchen at the time, they definitely would have gotten hurt.

The stove is only two years and old and when the self-cleaning cycle was run for the first time. The thermostat burned out mid-cycle and the unit shut down and the door was locked. The repair cost $213.45. Based on what I have seen online, this is a common problem with KitchenAid stoves. Since it was no longer under warranty, they wouldnt cover the cost. This appliance should be recalled!

During a dinner party the week before Christmas, the oven door exploded in my 2 month old, second use of Superba model #KEB-277, which original cost is nearly $2,500. It took me being a proactive consumer, spending about 1/2 hour a day for 6 weeks for the final repair to take place. The first warranty repair company just did not show up for an appointment. Finally, it took to making two appointments with different companies just to make sure someone showed up to look at the problem. Second company was wonderful - however, it still took me being involved with KitchenAid Safety Division”, their customer service and HHGregg (who told me it wasnt their problem since the 30 day warranty had expired! ), to finally get pieces to repair the door.Since neither KitchenAid nor HHGregg saw any need to replace a defective product, I insisted on all 2 new pieces of glass, a new steel shell that had been dented with the explosion, and all new racks. The problem is behind me, but I will never purchase another KitchenAid appliance nor buy any product at HHGregg.

I purchased this oven a few years ago and all I can tell you that it has been nothing but trouble. The following repairs were done through out the years: Igniter, front electronic board, other 2 internal boards, and oven. Only the gas burners are working at this point. This is about $1500 down the drain so what now? Im seeing numerous complaints but nothing is being done, am I wasting my time writing this?

In the Spring of 2006, I purchased 4 new KitchenAid appliances for my new gourmet kitchen. Within a month, the control panel of the slide-in oven had to be replaced. The oven stopped working a month ago. The dishwasher has been performing worse and worse every week for a year.I am tired of rewashing by hand all my gritty dishes and glasses. We rinse dishes before we put them into the machine and they come out dirtier than when they went in! Today I will spend the day taking it apart in the hope of cleaning out the guts and getting it to work. Never had to do this to any other dishwasher before. The Magnatron in the microwave had to be replaced one year ago ($125) out of pocket. Two months ago a chip in the control panel had to be replaced ($150), I should have listened to my girlfriend who said throw it out and buy a different brand. My french-door Kitchen Aid fridge has half a dozen broken plastic parts. I have never seen anything so flimsy. I have no kids man-handling my appliances, they are just poorly made.Thirty years ago I got a top quality Kitchen Aid mixer, it still works like new. That is what led me to buy Kitchen Aid everything when I did my upgrade in 2006. I had forgotten that the mixer was really made by Hobart (a really good company) What happened to Kitchen Aid? When did they start making the worst quality appliances? Or was it always this way with them?

On 2/4/12, I purchased a Kitchen Aid double oven microwave unit nearly three years ago, when doing a kitchen remodel. All the appliances are Kitchen Aid, thinking we were purchasing a good, reliable brand name. Yesterday, I placed the oven in the self cleaning mode. After about 2 and a half hours, the inner glass panel on the oven door exploded, sending hot, shattered glass onto the floor. The intensity of the heat cracked the new cabinet along the top of the oven. I called the service center, and they indicated there have been no recalls on this problem. I am horrified to think that if my grandchildren were present, they could have been injured. After reading other complaints on this website, I think Kitchen Aid needs to do a recall on this unit. By the way, they did not offer to replace the glass. They said the glass was covered, but not the two service calls to replace it, and the glass can only be ordered by a service technician.

I used the self-cleaning cycle for the first time on my KitchenAid (Model: YKESS970) electric range which cost me over $2,500. The oven is now a year and a half old and completely finished. The door is locked and the display panel is not working at all. I called KitchenAid and they said that the parts might be still under warranty but we have to pay the labor of $81 just for them to show up, plus $19 every 15 minutes (the first 15 minutes are free). Wow!

I dont know where to begin. There are SO MANY design flaws on this stove. The stove top burners look fine but you cannot fit more than two pots on it at a time (unless you are using very small pots). The back two burners are so small and inefficient they can really just be used for warming. The broiler consists of a single tube that runs front to back so the middle of whatever is cooking burns while the sides arent browned. The bottom rack of the top oven is so close to the bottom that food scorches on the bottom as well as your hand.I bought this stove 2 yrs ago and had continual problems with fluctuating oven temps (Used a conventional thermometer to check). The thermostat was replaced. A couple of weeks later, the computer board was replaced. Still didnt work. Quoted the lemon law policy and the stove was replaced. The oven then worked although I am stuck with the design flaws. Now the oven temp is becoming erratic again. I did buy the extended warranty but am anticipating an ordeal. P.S. I have never used the cleaning feature because I read consumers reviews.

When cleaning up a small spill in my KitchenAid side by side I removed the glass shelf over the vegetable crisper and placed in my sink. Picking up a paper towel I wet it with tap water and started to wipe off the spill when the glass exploded in little small shards that shot across my kitchen. My dogs were sitting beneath the sink and got glass in their coat, my shirt had glass on it. I was stunned. It took an hour and a half to completely clean up all of the glass. Very very dangerous. I did not use any warm water.

The KitchenAid Double Oven KODE500ESS is advertised as an Even Heat True Co
The KitchenAid Double Oven KODE500ESS is advertised as an Even Heat True Convection with Even Heat Preheat. The machine is attractive with its huge viewing windows, its highly polished finish, its commercial style handles, and blue enamel interiors. The electronics are elaborate. You are able to adjust almost every function of the oven should you wish to so, down to alarm sound loudness, and calibrating the oven without a technician nearby. However, this oven is not without fundamental flaws. The engineering is deficient in crucial areas: the temperature sensors are located near the top broiler unit, a unit which is used in the preheat cycle resulting in unreliable preheat readings; the heat release vent is located at the top near the electronics components, which could be affected by the extreme temperatures, such as those used in the cleaning cycle, ultimately causing an oven computer crash. We chose this oven based on the many positive reviews and have had the oven for 6 months. Even after talking with KitchenAid representatives and two repairmen, we have yet to feel comfortable with the ovens ability to function properly. First, the preheat operation is worthless due to the location of the sensor. When the preheated indicator sounds after 8-10 minutes, the oven is probably 20-30 minutes away from the achieving the desired heat, should it ever be attained. Second, the highly emphasized Even Heat claim is questionable. Once attained, the temperature can, by design, fluctuate. This we understand and have no problem with fluctuations, unless the variations are large. We have experienced 50-degree swings. We have agonized with uneven cooking in many directions: dishes done on the sides, unfinished in the middle; dishes browned on one corner, not on the others; when two dishes in same oven baked at same temperature, both requiring same number of minutes, one will be done before the other. The repairmen state there is nothing they can do to fix these problems. This is not a bakers oven. It is not even a novice’s oven. It certainly is not as functional as our previous ones. It is unreliable, untrustworthy and we wish this one were not ours. If KitchenAid planned to put an extremely inferior product on the market prematurely at an exorbitant price, they have exceeded their expectations.

This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes I can save people from making the bad choice of choosing KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. We have experienced several problems with several of their appliances but by far the worst is with our 42 side by side built in fridge (over $6,000.) Our first unit had so many problems within two years that Whirlpool finally replaced the unit. This was not easy but with good documentation, photos and me just not backing down, they finally did the right thing. We received the new unit on 12/3/08 (so only 4 years ago) and the icemaker which never really worked well is now broken and caused a lot of damage to our kitchen wood floor.Water dripped down through the bottom of the freezer door onto our hardwood floor. Unfortunately, water can do a lot of damage fast. After another frustrating experience with their customer service department, I finally got an appointment with a repair service. I wont even get into the details of that frustrating experience. Well, the ice making unit cannot be replaced because of insulation in the fridge door and we would have to purchase a brand new door. This would cost about $1,400 to replace and take 6 weeks to order the new door. Never mind the expense of replacing the hardwood floors. The Whirlpool Company could not care less. The door is rusted at the bottom, so this went on for a while but we did not notice it until it got really bad and the water started puddling in front of the fridge. Also just two weeks ago, we had work done on our 4 year old Whirlpool washing machine ($350 repair cost) and now it is starting to act up again. I assume that I will have to replace it soon since I am not willing to put any more money into it. These appliances are poorly built and dont represent the quality product they once were. I hope I was able to save someone out there from making the mistake of investing in any Whirlpool (or any of the other lines built by them) large appliance.

We remodeled our house and purchased a KitchenAid microwave oven wall unit Model number KEMS308SSS05. We have owned this unit 2 years and 2 months. The microwave always had a loud sound when running and did not heat. Well we had the microwave serviced within months of purchase while under the manufacturers warranty, it started heating better. Recently the turntable stopped working. We had 5 service calls before it was fixed. The motor had to be replaced along with several electronic boards. Now the oven will not heat to set temp and does not hold its heat. The repair company is coming to fix next week. I will never buy a KitchenAid appliance again. This was my 1st experience with KitchenAid. We also have a high end Kitchen dishwasher which we had to replace plastic parts for the upper drawer. Very Poor Quality. Now I know why KitchenAid does not have a customer service line you can call.

Just 4 years ago we purchased this dishwasher (KUDC101XWH) to replace another KitchenAid that we had for almost 20 years with literally no problems. The new dishwasher has now stopped working for the 5th time. The first time was under warranty but the fuse was not covered - of course. Then it was the latches, and then it was the wiring which was fixed two months before. We have spent about what it cost to purchase it in the first place. KitchenAid has been no help. I was told by one of the service people never to buy this brand nor Whirlpool nor Maytag. I am attempting to get my last service payment refunded and will go out today to buy another dishwasher - not KitchenAid!

18-month-old refrigerator. Size is huge. Too deep, things get lost in it. A refrigerator should only be about 25 inches deep the depth of a kitchen coauthor. The inside is poorly organized. The door and bins are the only good organization component. Unused space as too many high places. Ice maker the other day pumped water into the freezer area and leaked out onto the floor. I purchased the KitchenAid dishwasher model KDTM704ESS0, for around $1400 in 2015. After three years of light use (there are only two of us) the wash motor seized up and needs to be replaced at a cost of $500-$600. I called KitchenAid and they told me the motor was no longer in warranty so they would do nothing. This is my fourth KitchenAid dishwasher in forty years. None of my other KitchenAid dishwashers have ever needed a repair of any sort. In fact, I have never even had a service call on any of my other KitchenAid dishwashers. The previous dishwashers were replaced due to kitchen remodeling or upgrading, not because they stopped working. I cannot believe that a main component of this expensive dishwasher would last only three years. I would think twice about buying a new KitchenAid. I know two other people who have had their KitchenAid dishwasher motors fail after only approximately three years. Sad that the KitchenAid quality isnt there anymore! Also sad that the company is OK with a customer spending $1400 and having the product last for only three years!

We bought our KUDS301XWH6 dishwasher in the spring of 2012, and we have had nothing but trouble. Two wheels on the top rack have broken off, and the control panel only works when it wants to. Even flipping the switch on the circuit breaker doesnt work most of the time. Like others, we bought this *more expensive* machine because we wanted to buy an American-made product, and because we grew up with KitchenAid dishwashers that lasted, problem-free, for decades. KitchenAid is coasting on the reputation earned many years ago, but their reputation will change as more people learn of their current line of shoddy, overpriced products. The KitchenAid refrigerator we have is just over 1 yr old, 6 weeks over 1 year. With no warning, when opening the pantry drawer inside the fridge, the pantry drawer lid just dropped off - a piece of plastic (end cap) holding that lid just snapped off. My girlfriend had the same thing happen with hers and predicted this when she saw what we bought. I did not expect it to happen so soon (especially as we no longer have kids home), a mere 6 weeks past the one year mark!! Kitchen Aid calls it cosmetic as we still have a refrigerator though this lid piece can no longer be in place... Im not happy. I first called a parts supplier and they knew exactly what piece it was as they are continually supplying this piece to customers as they know it to be a weak design.

Our KitchenAid (KEBC107KSS) oven was installed 6 years ago. We do not use it a lot. About 3 years ago, it stopped working after running the clean cycle. I installed a new thermostat (9759242), and it worked fine. I just ran the clean cycle again, and again the oven stopped heating up again. I will order either the same part or a new part (W10175596). I just found in the various blogs about this problem. This seems to be a major problem with KitchenAid and Whirlpool ovens. Even though I have an older model, people are still having the same problem with ovens purchased today. I cannot believe that they can get away with continuing to produce a defective product and have not been able to engineer a solution.

Then last night at 1:20 am I woke up to it beeping and the control panel read 5:42 & it would not cancel so I had to unplug it. I didnt expect them to give me a new one for free, maybe just fix this one or offer some assistance with the expense. Two microwaves in 6 years? I will find another brand next time. Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased about two and a half years ago. The model is KUDS301XSS1 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. One and a half years into its use, it had a repair for $215 for a $30 fuse. The rest was labor because nothing on the dish washer would operate. The compartments that hold the knives, forks and spoons in place are held up on the sides of the utensil tray by bread twiggies to keep them from constantly falling into the respective sections. If anyone is experiencing this problem, the twiggies have been working now for over a year. The bottom panel which is plastic is held to the metal frame with cheap plastic that breaks. It is now held on by, you guessed it, another bread twiggie. Last week, the roller on the upper rack broke off of the cheap plastic spindle that holds it to more plastic parts on the rack. Now it is engineered by an ingenious screw washer fed by a strong plastic tie through a small washer fed through the opening of the roller and twisted onto the plastic frame on the upper rack. This works as long as one doesnt force the rack open. One should note that the end stops on the rack are made up of more cheap plastic parts that are quite fragile and will probably break in time. The dishwasher does clean dishes and is silent, but the cheapness of all these parts leaves me with one opinion - KitchenAid and Whirlpool do not care about making a good appliance. The KitchenAid was a replacement for two previous Whirlpools that gave decent service. I sold appliances in the past and know that KitchenAid made by Hobart was quite a top of the line dishwasher. My advice now - not worth the purchase price, not worth buying so let buyer beware. Because of this atrocious record, the rest of the new appliances in our kitchen went to Frigidaire. I have read many other complaints from others on the internet about this fuse that keeps going out. My repairman left the instructions for replacement so I can do it myself.

The KitchenAid worked well for awhile, but suddenly the entire inside tub had a film on it, and now every glass, every utensil, every plate, etc., has a white film all over. I have tried everything - changing detergents, washing every dish thoroughly before loading into dishwasher, etc. Nothing has worked. I cant even clean the film off once it is on. After reading the reviews on this site, I feel like calling KitchenAid will only frustrate and upset me. This dishwasher was expensive and it is a huge disappointment. Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased
Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased new KitchenAid Proline KUDE40SPX3 to match our Wolf/Sub-Zero equipment. After several months, we noticed our cabinetry adjacent to the dishwasher was starting to warp and peel paint. We initially believed that the cabinetry was defective. Then one evening, our little 3-year-old screamed in horror from the kitchen. She had a burn on her face and said the dishwasher did it. We then noticed the steam coming from the side vent of the unit. The louvers are positioned so that the steam under pressure is directed downward. However, since the vent is adjacent to the kitchen cabinetry, the steam not only hits the cabinetry but is directed in front of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers have the vent at the top of front door lip, which directs the steam up and away from the front of the dishwasher. I notified KitchenAid Customer Service. Their first response was that the unit was 1 month out of warranty and they referred me back to Pacific Sales where I purchased an extended warranty. Pacific Sales extended warranty department stated that the defect was a manufacturer defect and not an electrical or mechanical defect and directed me back to KitchenAid. KitchenAid then agreed to send a service rep out and would cover any parts and/or labor to repair the defect, including any venting kit. They also said that the manual has a disclosure about the side venting; however, I pointed out there is no such disclosure and no special instructions with regards to steam being emitted out the side/front and being a potential hazard to children and surrounding cabinetry. KitchenAids factory repair rep came and observed the defect and notated such back to KitchenAid. Then, KitcheAaid took the position that it was not responsible since it was no longer within the 12-month warranty period.

My KitchenAid refrigerator is only 4 months old and the ice maker has already stopped making ice. It just stopped for no reason. Luckily, its still under warranty so the repair man will be coming out next week but REALLY!?! The dumb thing is only FOUR MONTHS OLD. I am afraid of what will need repairs in the future after the warranty has expired. I didnt read the bad reviews before I bought ALL KitchenAid appliances and that included a dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator. The repair lady told me to Buy the warranty. She said they dont make things like they used to. Now you tell me... very disappointed in KitchenAid. They used to be a very reliable, high end company.

I remodeled the kitchen in 2007. Refrigerator, freezer, 2-drawer dishwasher and combo micro and oven all broke down in Nov. of 2012. I called service for all appliances to be fixed. Freezer was fixed w/ new motor (service man stated KitchenAid knew of the problem for many years w/ no recall). After 3 months and 2 servicemen from different companies, oven is still not fixed. The parts KitchenAid suggested to these servicemen did not work. KitchenAid again knew of a problem with both ovens and did not recall. After many months without any ovens, I called KitchenAid. I asked for suggestions. All I got from the customer service rep was silence .... and then a sorry. He told me that he could not help in anyway. I spent $3200 on these ovens that only worked for 5 years and I cannot get parts to fix them. I will never purchase a KitchenAid appliance again.

BAD DECISION! Started pinging a few weeks ago, had the factory authorized repair person on site that and was informed of the bad board, no replacement problem so many have posted about. Getting ready to send the board to corecentricsolutions.com as theyve gotten good reviews from others with the same issue. No spare fridge so well sort through and keep what we can fit into a couple of coolers.Amazing how many people have posted online in various places with POOR to WORSE customer service from Whirlpool. Checked and just found **. Im betting we see a lot more of this kind of activism against them. I will NEVER buy another KitchenAid/Whirlpool/Maytag/Jenn-Air/Amana product and will do my best to inform anyone that will listen in an effort to get them to do the same.

We bought our home in May 2011 with a one-year old KitchenAid oven. Last week, I used the self cleaning cycle for the first time. The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. It was covered with an oven tray so we did not see it but I now suspect that this was also due to a fault in the stove/heating. We have two KitchenAid ovens!

We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher back in April of 2006. It hasnt worked right ever since we bought it. At first, I would notice that every once in a while, it wouldnt get the dishes completely clean, and then it got to be more and more. I had a repairman come out today and he said it needs a whole new motor mechanism. This will cost at least $250 (we paid almost $1,000 for the dishwasher). We have all KitchenAid appliances and have had issues with almost all of them. We will not buy anything else from them.

KitchenAid refrigerator model #KSCS25INSS01 failed, quit and died - This refrigerator quit working after only 5.6 years. It was the main control board. The fact that I lost some food wasnt the real issue for me. It was the response I received: We are very sorry, the control board is no longer available. The vendor that manufactures the part is no longer available, with no new supplier to manufacture the part at this time. Since we are also consumers, we understand your frustration. My only option is to send the part out and have it repaired. No response to my question about warranty and no to a new refrigerator. My issue is if KitchenAid cannot get parts, then they shouldnt be in the appliance business. So much for the warranty, its not worth the paper its written on. I only wish I would have read all of these other complaints prior to buying their products. Did this happen after Whirlpool bought them out or has it always been this bad? I have never had a problem with refrigerator, even the old secondhand ones always work. Any suggestions how to proceed? It looks to me like my experience doesnt even rate as a horror story compared to what I have read on this site.

Our compressor is broken on our refrigerator. The tech who came to repair it said the problem is that its a faulty compressor. This happens frequently, he said, and the company that made the faulty compressors that used to go into KitchenAid refrigerators went out of business a few years ago. One would think that if KitchenAid was using a part that it knew to be faulty it could at least give a discount on parts and/or labor when the part fails. Considering the cost of refrigerators today, its very disappointing that KitchenAid would allow customers to be charged an arm and a leg to replace a sub-par part.

04/06/2018 - Purchased french door refrigerator (KRFF507E). 09/30/2019 - First repair. Refer making noise and not cooling. Evap fan hitting ice buildup Tech replaced evap fan and thermistor assembly (took over an hour to remove ice build up). Tech also reprogrammed defrost cycle from auto-detect to every 8 hours.02/19/2020 - Second repair. Same problem as first repair except evap fan not destroyed. Contacted KitchenAid service basic response was too bad, so sad. I explained that the problem was a design flaw, not a faulty part problem but that fell on deaf ears. After a bit of debate service stated that replacement parts (from 2/2019) were under warranty. Service tech ended up replacing same parts and a control board. Again, over an hour to remove ice buildup. 08/08/2020 - Third repair scheduled for 8/17/2020. Sour milk, refrigerator temperature running about 57 degrees F. Ice buildup again, waiting for Tech to diagnose. Again KA Service response was too bad, so sad. Service authorized a $50 reimbursement card, which covers about half of technician service charge (not parts). The refrigerator was purchased to replacing an ancient (15 yr+) kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator/freezer that is still keeping my beer cool and my deer meat frozen! For many month after the purchase, we dealt with a bottom freezer door that would freeze shut and could not be opened without using tools. After four different repairs, the door was finally fixed. We purchased a KitchenAid wall oven KEBS107SSS in March 2012. This oven does not turn off and just keeps hot air blowing into the kitchen for at least an hour or longer after pushing the off button. The sales person at the high end appliance store we purchased it from said to turn off the power to the oven, which we did as it had a dedicated breaker switch. Then the oven just latched automatically, wouldnt open, and had a nice error message on the screen. Took the repairman over two weeks to get the part to fix the latch as he said that was the problem.... thats why the oven doesnt turn off efficiently??? I cant get anyone from KitchenAid to even answer my phone calls and I truly dont think the repairman has a clue as to why this oven wont turn off. Do not buy a KitchenAid oven. The racks never stay up on the top shelf and had to be replaced three times. The dishwasher is just two years old and another leak, this time it was the motor/pump assembly to the tune of $210.00. I will never buy this brand again. I called customer service to complain and they wanted to give me a few hundred dollars discount on a new dishwasher, like I can afford another one. At any rate, it would never be this brand again when I do buy. So frustrated and so disappointed in this washer. You think you are paying more and getting a better machine, what a joke that is. So disappointed. Worst fridge Ive ever had, at any price. Its runs so loud that it sounds like a machine gun. Seriously, it wakes me up. In addition, after only two years the ice maker broke. Its only got a one year warranty. I replaced it, and one year, ten days later, it started leaking, so my ice container constantly has a big block of unusable ice in it that I have to break up and throw out. Im not spending $300 annually to replace the ice maker, so I shut the thing off. Ive been making cubes in my $500 fridge/freezer thats in my garage. Bought this June of 2016. Looks great and worked great. Received the ultimate error code. PO flashed every 10 minutes or so. Fridge shuts down and restarts. Fridge and freezer parts stopped working correctly. Replaced the pantry Drawer UI PCB circuitry board and the harness attached as instructed by Whirlpool through an authorized repair facility. Six hours later, error code returns and there are no noticeable changes. Had the evaporator motor replaced at a follow-up date, as the original part was wrong that was shipped. This cooled the fridge and freezer correctly, but the PO error code returned.$800 later, tech support at Whirlpool has 2 or 3 more ideas as to what else it could be. The fridge is out of warranty and customer support can only offer me $75 to help for the $3,500 spent. My 14-year-old Conquest fridge by Whirlpool in the warm garage is working better and has only cost me $45 in parts since new for a new fan motor. The design problem is that there is a circuit board under the water dispenser, and no way to keep any leaking water from frying the circuit if that was ever a problem. Im hoping the next dart we throw hits the problem(s) and fixes the issue.

I am an electrician and repair appliances, Ive kept all the appliances in my house going for many years by diagnosing and repairing them myself. I recently bought a condo which has KitchenAid appliances; a French-door refrigerator, a dishwasher, and an over-the-stove microwave. Although I am writing about the microwave as garbage, so is the refrigerator. The microwave is model YKHMS1850SS2. I knowingly bought the condo with this microwave, which is damaged, the door handle had broken off and the grill cover at the top has broken mounting tabs, thinking I could fix the damage at a reasonable cost which is not possible because Whirlpool, which owns KitchenAid, is replacement part price gouging. The parts are made of very cheap easily breakable plastic which probably cost Whirlpool very little to manufacture and look to be designed to break. If I could, I would take the door apart and replace the handle but the handle is not available as a separate part, only the whole door which costs half as much as a new KitchenAid microwave is available so I currently use a cheap suction auto body dent puller stuck to the glass door until I get a metal towel bar which I am going to cut down to the right size and mount it with the microwave handle screws that are currently protruding from the holes in the door cover which will last the lifetime of the microwaves electronics. The grill cover also costs quite a bit, the plastic mounting insert that fits in the stainless steel cover is not available separately so the two-part assembly also costs a lot of $$$ and is very wasteful because the stainless steel cover part, which is not damaged, will be redundant and dumped in the landfill. Instead of doing that, I am going to judiciously drill some holes in the plastic insert and use black tie-wraps to fasten it to the microwave. Kludged together but cheap and quick.Theres a big difference in the quality of appliances made in the 1970s and 1980s and now, the quality has very significantly declined and the price has significantly increased. In my house, I had a Maytag dishwasher, purchased in 1981, model WU300, which washed dishes very well and I kept it going by repairing it myself until about two months ago. It would still be running except the part needed is extremely hard to find. I replaced it with a Bosch dishwasher, probably made in the same US factory as Maytag/Whirlpool/KitchenAid. Ironically, just after it was installed and the old dishwasher was taken away I managed to find the repair part for it at an online used appliance parts supply for a very reasonable price. There really were the good old days for appliances.

In our fairly advanced years, my wife and I Splurged on a KitchenAid Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Gas stove, Warming drawer and a lot of other matching KitchenAid appliances and tools to complement our new kitchen. While a bit above our financial means, we purchased these based on KitchenAids reportedly High End quality and reputation with the expectation they would very likely outlast us. The stove, while being a self cleaning model, quickly experienced a failed control panel and we were summarily told that we cleaned our oven too often and the ovens heat fried the high tech front panel electronics. It’s fairly common. ARE THEY KIDDING? OVENS ACTUALLY PRODUCE HEAT? Whod O Thought! Then, our Top of the line Dishwasher went to scrap metal Heaven due to its being used too much... Water steam vapor damaged the doors inside control panel. Hmmm... As we have always done, we do our dishes every day as we strangely appreciate cleanliness and a healthy environment in our home which is evidently contrary to KitchenAid’s philosophy of product serviceability and durability standards. I think I get the part where an appliance would necessarily last longer if its not used, thats pretty simple even for me. What I just can’t seem to grasp though is how KitchenAid obtained its reputation for high end quality (as in durability) if their products require virtual non use to maintain any semblance of usability. Are They Kidding? Seriously? And as for the very expensive KitchenAid refrigerator we ordered direct from the factory? It was missing a plastic grill like air disperser part that subsequently caused a complete failure of the entire refrigerator and freezer shortly after the warranty expired. WooHooo... Im so happy, I wish I could say what I really think about KitchenAid and their products but the NSA would lock me up forever. KitchenAid obviously has their piece of the Corporate American Pie. Unfortunately, by most of the comments Ive read, it seems that consumer dissatisfaction will continue to be an ongoing experience for and at the expense of a growing number of very angry KitchenAid customers. Until that is, enough consumers educate themselves en-mass and RE-RATE KitchenAid products to accurately reflect the extremely poor quality and reputation they deserve. Seriously KitchenAid. ARE YOU KIDDING?

11 mos. old side x side SS KitchenAid fridge stopped making ice. Whirlpool/KitchenAid Customer Service gave name and phone for our local authorized KA repair service. Fantastic response from service folks, but ice jam was caused by faulty evaporator - replaced. Next day, water all over kitchen flooring - serviceman came and left to order new ice maker. Installed a day later. Next day, water all over flooring again. Service came, contacted Whirlpool Service Tech who told him to replace the whole freezer door. Done 2 days later. That night, water all over the floor and entire mechanical portion of ice maker frozen so could not work. Next day, new water valve installed. That night, no ice. Next day water tubing siliconed. That afternoon, water dispenser wont shut off as the little valve finishes calling for water. Service guy came.Going to conference with his owner and Service Tech at Whirlpool... Service tech tells him to install a tiny shim under the freezer door washer. Done. That evening (3rd visit by repairman same day!) water flooding flooring once again. We have a lemon, but appears that we ALL have lemons. The IN company that sold me this suite of appliances by KitchenAid has now - 11 mos. later - stopped even listing them as products on their gigantic website! Another telling facet. KitchenAid 30 free standing gas range with double oven bought. Beautiful to look at BUT! Have had less than a month and many problems. First gas leaks (they were repaired). My one time to use: baked an apple pie in bottom oven. Preheated to 450, baked pie for 15, then reduced to 350 for 45 minutes. During this time the vent blew so hard on top right burners, it got the top range very hot and impossible to use right burners (vent blew the flames... dangerous). Also top right side got extremely hot... not operating correctly at all. Now dealing with Whirlpool Corp Safety Dept to get them to take this range back... scares me to even think about using it... NOT using it... it is a lemon!!! They say must process/have evaluation by technician and then 3 to 4 weeks to process. BS!!! Purchased the oven on July 15, 2015. Used the self-cleaning feature for the first time today. The oven blew up. Fire Department came and condemned the oven. Said it was defective. KitchenAid is refusing to acknowledge that this is defective. On the phone for 3 hours, transferred everywhere. This double oven cost us over $3000.00 and they are refusing to offer any assistance. The snottiest customer service rep I have ever encountered... MARCIE IN BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN. I was traumatized by the explosion and the resulting smoke. KitchenAid... You should be ashamed of yourselves. How do you sleep at night reading all of these terrible reviews of your supposedly premium products?

Our 5 year old Kitchen Aid dishwashers door broke. Now, the door drops open with a resounding crash and if your leg is in the way, too bad. Also, the soap dispenser doesnt work. We bought all Kitchen Aid appliances when we built our house. The dishwasher is not good. The refrigerator and convection ovens have not been a problem. You really have a quality problem with the dishwasher.

Two years ago I bought what I thought was a beautiful new refrigerator (Model KFFS20EYMS01). It was a lot of money for a teacher. However I was excited to replace my 20 year old Whirlpool. What a dumb mistake. I thought Id done my research but apparently not. Six months after the warranty had worn out the machine began to over chill and making a racket of noise. After jumping through hoops and many many angry phone calls to KitchenAid and their repair contractors they agreed to pay for the repair. But it didnt fix the problem. This went on for two months. It was a nightmare. Now a year later, again the machine is building up ice. Do not buy a KitchenAid. I will never again.

Bought the micro/hood 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with the micro. Starts beeping and the micro has started on its own. I think it is a safety hazard and will start a fire. Have put it on a power bar and turn it off when we are not home and at night. Had the controls switched out twice now to no avail as it still happens. Kitchenaid is sending their repair man again (Sears repair twice) and now Kitchenaid repair man twice. Both could not find the problem. Tired and scared of this darn microwave and want it replaced and out of my house before something terrible happens.

In June of 2012 I renoed my kitchen and bought brand new Architect II Series appliances. I thought that KitchenAid, being a good, reputable name, would equate to a quality product. 11 months later my freezer sprung a leak causing the floor of the freezer to be a solid sheet of ice. Ironically, the customer service rep actually admitted to me that that common problem isnt usually seen until the unit is about 13/14 months old, not 11. RED FLAG!!!! Guy came (under warranty), fixed it, poo poo poo, no re-occurrence. HOWEVER, the OTR microwave vent makes a lot of noise but doesnt suck the air well at all. Technician said that although other units have a stinger suction, since it has something he cant fix it.The oven doesnt signal when the desired temperature is reached and that has NOTHING to do with the options. The dishwasher has had a technician out to my home twice. At $85 for 15 minutes how many more times can I afford to call him? First time was that the water apparently wasnt heating up (even though it was steamy) and the second time the panel was just flashing nonstop. No actual problem there! Goodbye ** + tax! Now, the damn thing will not kick into the heat dry cycle. It washes, rinses and drains perfectly but when it is meant to heat dry it just shots off completely. No flashing code, no green clean light. And to top it all off very nicely, all 4 wheels on the sliding upper rack are broken. The teeth that hold them in place have simply broken off. Because of course, thats normal!!!!!! NOT.I am so frustrated with KA. I will never buy anything more expensive than a blender from them again. In my opinion, I should not have had these many issues with appliances 2 years old. My grandmothers Frigidaire avocado green stove and fridge set from 1959 still work perfectly!!!!!!!! If only products made today were made to last. And by last I mean longer than the 12 month factory warranty. :(

Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

I purchase a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2012. It was one that costed us about $900 to $1200. I cant remember the exact amount. I have had it for 3 years and its been one thing after another. First, the top rack holder had to be replaced so I replaced that. They did make the newer version a lot more sturdy than what it was before. Then it just stopped washing. I found out that the dishwasher food processor had just came apart. I opened it all up and its just in pieces. So I replace that and not even a month later now, no power on the stupid thing. I cant afford to keep repairing this stupid thing so I bought a whirlpool and have so far no problems. The dishwasher has a 5 star review from over 500 people. Yep, all whirlpools from now on.

This cleaning technology is a complete joke. KitchenAid/Whirpool solution is to buy their cleaning kit a sponge and a plastic scraper. Food is caked on the inside and does not come off. You cant use any chemical cleaners either so youre looking at a 2-hour cleaning job to maybe get this oven clean. Im shocked that they are still selling ovens with this bogus technology. After running the cycle multiple times some of whats on the bottom comes off after some scrubbing but the sides are still filthy. KitchenAid and Whirlpool need to do a recall and buy all these garbage ovens back from consumers. I paid $2k for my oven and after calling to complain to KitchenAid they had the nerve to tell me a tech could come out but if they decided the oven was working as designed, I would be charged. As designed - so does that mean they know it doesnt work and they come out and say yep, its not working - as designed that will be $150 please. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again!!

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator in 2013. It was on clearance at Lowes. Now I know why it was a great deal, because they have problems with them. As I read the reviews from other consumers, we have the same exact problem with the freezer. It leaks water and freezes on the tray after 1 year. We have to break up the ice and empty it out every two weeks. The ice maker quit making ice after three years and now I just shut off the ice maker. My husband bought me a KitchenAid mixer for Christmas 2015 and after a year of sitting on the counter I decided to use it. It literally Sucks. I have also purchased a refrigerator. The ice maker is awful...Its too small and doesnt make ice fast enough. The other product from KitchenAid I purchased is a front load washer and dryer. The washer needs to be cleaned all the time. I was not told that. The dryers lint catcher, for a large capacity dryer, is so small, its ridiculous. None of these things were mentioned to me. I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Office
I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Whirlpool and Marc Bitzer, President of Whirlpool North America regarding a part they no longer made for my 5 yr. old KitchenAid refrigerator. Because of problems I was having with the refrigerator lights and the ice maker not working a repairman told me I needed to replace the electronic control board but that KitchenAid no longer made the part. I called KitchenAid customer service and was told I had to send the control board to Illinois for repair which meant my refrigerator would not be operating for a week or more. After spending hours online I found that Sears Parts Direct had a replacement control Board for my KitchenAid model which I ordered. By some miracle I was able to get the lights working by making an adjustment on the door hinges and the ice maker suddenly started to work. I returned the control board I received from Sears. What is interesting to me is the fact that I never received any response to my letter to Whirlpool senior management. In the letter I asked them 3 questions:When and why did they make the decision to stop producing an integral component for a KitchenAid product causing major inconvenience and problems for consumers? Why does KitchenAid Parts online show this component as available when it is no longer made? Why would a Whirlpool control board be defective in a 5 year old product? (As stated above my control board was not the problem after all.) I also told them I had noted the number of KitchenAid product complaints on Consumeraffairs.com. The fact that I never received any kind of follow up shows Whirlpools total lack of integrity and concern for their customers. The JOKE is Whirlpools Vision and Mission statements..... Pride, passion and performance.... Creating Loyal Customers for Life. We are a company of people captivated with creating loyal customers. Unfortunately the joke is on their customers.

We just completed installing a new kitchen, with all new appliances, cabinets, wiring, etc. as of December 2011. On February 4, 2012 while cooking a single potato, we looked at the KitchenAid microwave (Model KHMS2040WBL-1 Serial #TR 1 25 10840) only to discover that it was filled with flames. We pushed the stop button and the flames went out. The instructions screen continued to flash sensing, sensing until I unplugged the device from the outlet. Upon cleaning the microwave oven, we found that the potato was reduced to a small pile of glowing black carbon, the glass turntable was blackened and cracked, the plastic spindle upon which the turntable sits was about 50% burned away, and the paint under where the potato had been sitting was burned down to the raw metal.Reading the instruction booklet, I found that the device is supposed to sense when the food being cooked is giving off steam, and then shut itself off when no further steam is sensed. Obviously, this function failed.I called the KitchenAid customer service line (1800-422-1230) only to be transferred to the Safety Department at Whirlpool, the corporate owners of KitchenAid. After explaining my experience, the representative Timika ** offered to send a repair service to my house. A repair person from A&E came, agreed that there had been a fire and told us not to use the appliance again, because of consumer neglect. What the neglect is a mystery to me. In summary, Whirlpool has refused to cover the damage to the appliance even though it was manufactured in June 2011 and was still under the original warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency and the New York State Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Fraud.I am completely dissatisfied and angry with the Whirlpool response. They seem to want to avoid responsibility for (and resulting recall) a failure of the electronics board in this appliance. I have found the website ** which describes a class action suit over fires in KitchenAid dishwashers, also apparently due to failures in the electronics panel of those appliances.

Randomly selects cooking task such as reheating pizza or melting butter with no input from owner. Even after the microwave is unplugged for 5 seconds, it still starts up its beeping without input or any reason. Each time the unit is unplugged, the owner resets the time and date as requested by the screen. The light for the microwave does not go on adequately to see what is cooking. Due to the design, the window is so high that it takes steps to see into the oven.

I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with KitchenAids failure to stand by their product. I purchased a $3000 stainless steel fridge last year and my fridge is still under warranty, but because the rust is cosmetic, KitchenAid feels no obligation to stand by their expensive stainless steel product and Ive been told that it is rust resistant, but not rust proof. They say all stainless steel can rust in certain environments. I have only used soap and water and never used a stainless steel cleaner or corrosive or abrasive product on the fridge and it is in my newly built and dry house. It is under a year old and I wonder what itll look like in another year. Kitchenaid offered me the opportunity to extend my warranty for hundreds of dollars, but offered no repair or replacement of the rusting door panel I called them about. What kind of stainless steel exists? Low-quality stainless steel with impurities. My stainless steel Bosch range hasnt started rusting and I clean it constantly with various cleaners. Clearly KitchenAids product is inferior and low quality.

I purchased a new Kitchenaid dishwasher from Lowes. It cost over $600 and had to be ordered. Two weeks later it was installed. It leaked all over our floor. We called Lowes and they sent the installer back out. He removed it and could find nothing wrong. He reinstalled the machine. It leaked again and he told us we would have to call Whirlpool factory warranty. I did and they sent a repair company. This company worked on the machine for over an hour and could not fix it. They told us to try it. We did and it leaked. I called them back and they came. They worked on the machine, again over an hour. He told us to try it again. We did and it leaked again. The repairman said he had Whirlpool training and he would present our issue to the instructor. The instructor told our repairman they would replace the machine. We have now been notified that they will not replace the machine and are sending a new tub to the repair shop to be replaced in the machine, even though they do not actually know what is wrong. I went to Lowes and spoke to the assistant manager and he said that we should have called them back and they would have replaced the machine, even though their installer told me to call the Whirlpool warranty people, not Lowes. And, Lowes told me that had I bought their extended warranty plan they would replace the machine. But why should I buy an extended warranty when the machine is brand new and has its own warranty. It has been five months now and we still have no dishwasher. Our floor is ruining from the leaked water and no one at Lowes or Whirlpool cares. Im just out $600+. My recommendation is: dont buy anything made by Whirlpool; no Kitchenaid, nothing. And buy nothing from Lowes unless you buy their added warranty.

We purchased a KitchenAid stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and over the stov
We purchased a KitchenAid stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and over the stove microwave three years ago. All stainless steel (except for the plastic parts that are colored to look like stainless steel). So far the refrigerator and dishwasher have not been a problem. In the case of the stove, I was very disappointed with the quality of the stove, particularly the drawer below the oven. You cant describe it as anything other than flimsy. I should have checked out the drawer in the showroom model, but who would think to do that. However the microwave Model YKHMS 1850SS2 is the biggest problem. Having read the other reviews I realize that my complaints are shared by many other customers and that they have not been successful in resolving their complaints with KitchenAid. The first problem was with the vent grill. As others have found the plastic grill is so poorly made it cracks and snaps when you tighten the screws to hold it in place. In fact I discovered beyond the warranty period that the grill was damaged on delivery. Within the last month, the door handle, which looks like stainless steel but is in fact plastic literally broke apart under normal use. I was interested to read the reviews and learn that this is not an uncommon problem. I went online to see if I could get a replacement handle. Replacement handles are readily available for most microwaves, including earlier KitchenAid models at around $45. However, KichenAid will not supply a replacement handle for this model. They will gladly supply a new door for $350. This is unacceptable. Based on the many problems reported in the customer reviews it would be stupid of me to invest in a new door and then be faced with some of the other problems consumers have had with a KitchenAid microwave. We will replace it with a new microwave that is not a Whirlpool product. And we will never buy another KitchenAid stove, refrigerator, dishwasher or other Whirlpool appliance.

I was cooking at the KitchenAid Architect II Slide In range on November 20, 2012, and had the oven set to turn on automatically. Just after it reached the temperature, I heard a hissing noise followed by a really bad smell. I moved back across the room. Then there were many loud bangs and pops, followed by large flames behind the range and black smoke. I quickly turned off the oven and cook top, and then the last explosion blew out all the lights on the range and the fire went out. We purchased the range 4-1/2 years ago and took the extended warranty through the appliance dealer - Queen City (QC). The model is the KESS908SPS, and we paid $1600. We purchased 5 kitchen appliances at that time. This is the second time we have had a wiring problem with the range. The last time, the stove stopped working, and they said the plug was not installed correctly to the stove. They fixed the plug. This time, QC sent out a repairman who is giving them an estimate of $500 to repair. Again, he says the plug was not installed correctly to the stove. We do not believe it to be repairable and are afraid of the range. I spent the night vomiting and ended up in the ER the next day from dehydration. I called Whirlpool to see what that smell came from to see what I had ingested. They gave me a case file number, but seemed more interested in whether or not we had the tip-over safety feature installed. QC is offering to give us the $500 toward a new range, but no offers to replace it even with the extended warranty. Were through with Whirlpool.

She said her husband had experience with soldering and circuit boards and was able to repair their refrigerator with a $5 capacitor, purchased at Radio Shack. Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator Model #KBFS22EWMS7 in November, 2012 along with a 4 yr extended warranty with a price of $1800. The first week in October 2013, there was a big pool of water on the floor near the refrigerator. Pulled out the fridge thinking a hose had been punctured or a connection was loose. But no, that was not the case. All connections on the back of the fridge were dry. Husband checked more thoroughly and could not find where the leak was coming from. Called the customer service number on the refrigerator user instructions and they set up an appointment with a service person. The service person came out on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, checked all connections and pulled off panels and checked the back and could not find where the water was leaking. He confirmed there is a leak by seeing all the water on the floor, which looks like had been leaking for a while after seeing the edge of the wall with water damage and mold. But he could not find it and could not tell where it was coming from. So he gave my husband a homework assignment to somehow keep a watch underneath the fridge to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. How about that for customer service!!!! Now after seeing all the similar complaints and issues with KitchenAid, I am so afraid that we are in store for a nightmare of our own!!!! Our current plan is to put some type of rubber mat on the floor underneath the fridge and somehow jack up the fridge a little to be able to see underneath to watch for the leak. This is very frustrating and wish now that I had gone with Maytag!!!!

On June 12, 2004 we bought four appliances from your business which at the time totaled $5,200.33. During the first year and beyond we had problems with the fridge with too much cooling on both sides. After numerous calls and service calls to troubleshoot and repair the fridge, Whirlpool agreed to scrap and replace with a similar model on 12/28/05 (see attached). Unfortunately the same problem has now occurred again with the replaced refrigerator. I appreciate that the item is no longer covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee as it was bought/replaced six years ago. However, the Sale of Goods Act 1979 makes it an implied term of the contract that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. As the item has broken down well in advance of its normal life expectancy and has not been misused in any way, we regard the item as being of unsatisfactory quality in respect of its durability. I am, therefore, asking you to repair the item free of charge or to replace it with a similar model/finish, and more importantly one which is working properly. I want either a repair or replacement model (similar) that works well and as advertised. As a result of the problem fridge, we have thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of perished foods over the years.

When I had my brand new Superba Microwave Convection Oven installed, it did
When I had my brand new Superba Microwave Convection Oven installed, it did not work. The light came on and the timer counted down as if the oven was on but the microwave never turned on. The manufacturer would not replace it and I was furious. The warranty only covers repairs. It never worked from day 1. After three visits by repairmen over 7 weeks, the broken part, the appliance manager was installed and it worked temporarily. Then a few weeks later, the same thing happened. My builder was disgusted and took the oven out and gave me a brand new model (Whirlpool/KitchenAid wouldn’t). It was the same model but a brand new unit. After a few months, I had a similar problem and the repairman came out. And guess what, it’s the appliance manager again. I do not want this model back in my house. I am struggling to get another model as I have no trust in the Superba model. It is a Superba piece of crap.
