Kitchen-Aid model KUDE70FXSS4 - This dishwasher has a problem with the top
Kitchen-Aid model KUDE70FXSS4 - This dishwasher has a problem with the top rack that keeps rolling out when trying to load dishes into the bottom rack. I’m unable to adjust the level to allow the top drawer to stay in place because the rear of the washer has wheels and they have no height adjusters, and you cannot raise the front using the adjusters provided because it is as high as it can go, as the counter top will not allow further height adjustment.I noticed a part on the top drawer that connects to the water system for the top rack rotating spray wand had protruding plastic fingers that fit into female slots in the back of the washer. The fingers did not have any detents that would hold the rack in place. I added a detent to each finger, and now when you push the rack in, it locks it in place. They must have forgotten to include this in their design. If they would have provided adjusters on the back wheels, we could have lowered the back and the top rack would have stayed in position by gravity. However, I think the added detents to the fingers is a better solution as this locks the rack in place and gravity allows the rack to stay out when loading dishes. I hope this helps anyone else that has this same problem.

KitchenAid KUDS30IXBL - Horrible product, barely worked right from day one.
KitchenAid KUDS30IXBL - Horrible product, barely worked right from day one. Never cycles through properly. I would recommend buying another brand than Whirlpool corporation products. Use the internet to find other brands. Whirlpool now owns/manufactures Kenmore, Maytag, Magic Chef, KitchenAid, among others. They are ruining these once great brand names. Read reviews, dont put up with it, find alternatives (LG, Samsung, GE all are superior quality durability) until they do something about their horrible quality and poor customer service. NEVER AGAIN, Whirlpool corp. I will not buy your products. For $630 I paid for this dishwasher I would expect 10 years service. Why make stainless steel inside and racking when all the rest of the components are so cheap, shoddy, they function for less than 6 months under normal to light use?

WE bought a complete kitchen set but after one year the 4 lights in the top of the refrigerator stopped working. The place where we bought it, Heber Appliance, could not fix the problem because of the way its designed. It wasnt the bulbs but the wiring. So they gave us a deal on a new one. Now the exact same problem is occurring. The 4 lights in the top of the fridge started flickering a week ago and now are out completely after one year. We will never buy KitchenAid again ever!

I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator and Microwave Oven Combo which are 8 years old. The refrigerator went out on 11/26. My warranty was out so they sold me a 1-year extended for $429.00. A&E came out on December 3 to fix the refrigerator. The repair guy said it was the circuit board and would order it. He said it would take 1 week to get the part. The part never showed up and A&E called to find out if I received the part. The repair guy told me to move the fan to keep the refrigerator cool. He told me the part is back ordered until January 19. Now I am out of a refrigerator and freezer. I lost over $400 in food. I called KitchenAid back to get a tracking number for the part. They told me the part is due in on December 19th so I booked another appointment. After 15 calls to A&E and KitchenAid, I found out the part is now discontinued! And the reason is that KitchenAid stopped making it. But the system had a glitch and no one knew it was not coming in. Four weeks and still there is no working refrigerator. A&E came out to pull the circuit board to have it rebuilt. Another week before its fixed or is it? I called to get some sort of compensation and answers but again no one knows what is going on. I got mixed answers to my questions. I will never buy another KitchenAid appliance! Then the spring on my microwave/oven went out. They sold me another warranty for $350.

KitchenAid over the range convection oven Model KHMC1857BSS1 - I purchased this unit from Home Depot after my Whirlpool unit gave out after 6 years (we cook seldom - so its not from heavy use), I have had this unit for 18 months and when the door was opened the latch would not signal the unit door was open (nor closed) and the unit would not cook. After calling the repair person he said it was a standard problem with these units and they generally broke in the first year. The price for repair was over half the cost of a new unit with the replacement door switches only warrantied for 90 days. My solution is; I will purchase a new unit, however - KitchenAid, Whirlpool and Kenmore products will never make my list again. The comparison units shown on this page will be a good place to start.

We have had KitchenAid dishwashers for 20 years. I got this dishwasher three years ago after six months, it wasn’t cleaning the dishes. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the wrong detergent. I switched to Cascade. The fact that you need to buy a special detergent to go with these dishwashers seemed pretty peculiar, but I did it. Since then I’ve had a repairman out three times because it leaks, wasn’t cleaning the dishes, water wasn’t emptying, and now all of the wheels have dissolved and fallen off the dishwasher on the bottom rack. They have melted onto the drying bar. I am grateful they didn’t start a fire. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the detergent Cascade and that dissolves the plastic on the dishwasher wheels.... WHAT???? I finally called kitchenaid and she told me that have never heard of this ever happening and that my warranty was out. I told them that not have if any wheels on my bottom rack was inexcusable and I demanded they send me wheels. Finally they said they would. That was 7 days ago. They said they would send them but if I couldn’t put them on I’d have to hire someone, they would not pay for that. I am very disappointed in kitchen aid, and will never, ever buy another.

This machine was at least $200 more than the other machines. We bought it from Best Buy. We wanted a top-of-the-line washer that was a minimal fuss. This machine already broke once, but was covered by warranty. Thats not the worst of it, however. IT WILL NOT CLEAN YOUR DISHES! If you like hand washing dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, or scrubbing them after they come out, this machine is for you. We remodeled our kitchen 9 years ago. We put in all KitchenAid appliances. Dishwasher, microwave, gas range and fridge. I have never been more disappointed with a company in my life. This week after numerous service calls we replaced the dishwasher with a Maytag. Your dishwasher did not clean dishes from day one. We suffered for 9 years. The paint and I stress PAINT on the stainless steel microwave wore off the handle after a year. The range has needed the control panel replaced 4 times. The off button fails every 2 years. The ice maker has been replaced 4 times. The last time the tech told us we had the freezer set too cold. Can you imagine? A freezer, too cold? There were many other service issues that I will not mention because I consider them normal wear and tear. These totaled about $1000 over 9 years, which I think is acceptable. The cost for the unacceptable repairs is in excess of $3500.

That has helped, but I just tried self-clean again last night (stupid move) and control panel went dead. Im waiting for repair call. I guess we wont be doing Christmas party or Christmas dinner for family unless we use the stove and outdoor grill.

Model #: KUDS35FXSS3. Purchase Date: 11/26/2011. In the second year of having this dishwasher the motor seized. Also the rack adjusters had to be replaced three times. (This problem is well documented on numerous Internet sites.) On Sunday, August 16, 2015, the dishwasher was approximately one half way through a normal cycle. A very loud buzz was heard and this lasted for a few seconds. Then a pop sound was heard. Upon investigation, the black smoke was pouring out the front of the dishwasher at the top. A very strong electrical burning smell was also present. The electric breaker for the dishwasher was tripped. When the dishwasher was taken apart it was found that the electronic control board (motherboard) had shorted and melted the internal wiring. The dishwasher was deemed unrepairable.

We purchased the top of the line in the KitchenAid dishwasher - KUDS301VBL3
We purchased the top of the line in the KitchenAid dishwasher - KUDS301VBL3. This was the second KitchenAid dishwasher that I had owned. The first one I purchased was a workhorse. No problems, just got old and wasnt worth fixing. So I updated my kitchen and bought the new top of the line model. I am now waiting for a repairman to show up to fix the door that keeps breaking. This is the second time. There is something in the door that keeps slipping off and causes the door to slam down hard when it opened. I have a 16-month-old granddaughter who could easily pull on the door and suffer an injury if this door fell on her. I have called KitchenAid and left messages and so far have not been contacted by anyone. I had no idea that the quality of the KitchenAid appliances had hit such a low standard. This is the second time that this door thing has happened, so there must be a problem and KitchenAid needs to take responsibility and fix it before they have a lawsuit on their hands where a child has gotten hurt by this door malfunction. I am going to complain to all the consumer and product safety organizations that I can find on the internet.

After reading the above comments, I should have thought twice about buying a KitchenAid. My ice dispenser stopped working. I had purchased the extended warranty and the repairman replaced the motor but discovered it wasnt getting any power. The user interface had malfunctioned, and guess what? The factory in Japan that made them isnt doing so anymore. Sounds familiar? My money for the warranty was refunded and I was told I was basically out of luck. After many phone calls between KitchenAid and the warranty company, I contacted the CA Better Business Bureau. There is a Civil Code 1793.03 that requires manufacturers to provide replacement parts up to 7 years after purchase. I filed a complaint with them, but was told I should contact an attorney to see if it would be worth taking them to court. The problem occurred less than 3 years after I purchased the refrigerator from Sears in 2010. I thought I was buying it new, but according to the warranty company, it was made in 2008. In short, avoid buying appliances from Sears and stay away from KitchenAid!

I have a brand new Kitchen Aid Conversion Oven/Microwave combo. The way the microwave is designed, you open the door down, like an oven, toward you. Thus, my child opened the microwave, took out some warmed milk, and spilled it on the door as he was getting it out. Some of the milk seeped in between the glass of the door. Apparently, there is no way to clean it! It looks terrible!I called KitchenAid customer service and they told me this a cosmetic issue but a repairman could come and take the door apart for $129 to clean it! Clearly, this is a design flaw! Spills happen all the time with food preparation. The owner should be able to clean it themselves!!! There are no warnings about this in the instruction booklet. How is the consumer supposed to know they cant fully clean the appliance? Why isnt the glass sealed? I want the public to know about the design flaw in the appliance.

It not only cleans the dishes but it dries them. I was very tired of having to dry the dishes after using my old dishwasher. This one solved that problem. Other than the few dishes with a lip, they all are dry. I also like that it’s so quiet that it does not disturb us while watching TV. Having an open concept floor plan, this can be a problem with some dishwashers. I would highly recommend a KitchenAid dishwasher to everyone.

My $8,000 refrigerator just became scrap metal. It is less than 6 yrs. old. If there is a U.S. regulation that parts be maintained for 10 years, why are these not available from another sub-contractor? I am assuming they were defective to begin with or the computer assembly sub-contractor was so shortsighted they neglected to back up the specs. I purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher from Lowes a few years ago to replace my 14-year-old perfect Whirlpool. The KitchenAid worked well for awhile, but suddenly the entire inside tub had a film on it, and now every glass, every utensil, every plate, etc., has a white film all over. I have tried everything - changing detergents, washing every dish thoroughly before loading into dishwasher, etc. Nothing has worked. I cant even clean the film off once it is on. After reading the reviews on this site, I feel like calling KitchenAid will only frustrate and upset me. This dishwasher was expensive and it is a huge disappointment. I would advise anyone to look at other brands first.

Model KUDS301XBL - This dishwasher was purchased in May 2011 at a total cost of almost $1,000. Since having it installed, it has required service and the motor has been replaced twice - in 2012 and again in 2013. The wheels and rollers have repeatedly broken off. Now, after less than four years, it has failed again and the motor will need to be replaced for the third time. Each time services required, it is a minimum of one week - and typically 2 to 3 weeks - that our family of six is without the use of a dishwasher. In addition to its lack of reliability, this high-end dishwasher has never adequately done a good job of washing dishes. Even the service technician has said, I dont care what the salesperson told you, if you want your dishes to be clean, you will have to pre-wash them. Perhaps we just got a lemon, but the manufacturer has done nothing to correct our situation.

Door locked itself before I was able to move other cookie trays around. Smoke in oven and perhaps oven fan not working. We turned the wall breaker on and off several times to restart the electronics, which seemed to indicate fan was working when electricity was on. After an hour of oven smoking, refusing to open and oven message of too hot, flames were seen through the door, like a smoldering fireplace. I ended up calling 911 for oven fire. After trying to open the door and let smoke out, the appliance cooled down apparently while firemen were in the kitchen so that the flames dissipated and door would open. Apparently, the flames were from the cookies igniting.

I purchased a KitchenAid side by side with french doors and an in-door ice maker. It retailed for around $3,000 and is by far the worst appliance I have ever owned. Periodically it runs very noisily. If the refrigerator door is left open for more that a brief moment, the ice in the bin begins to melt and fuses together and must be dumped. I have replaced the ice maker four times in the six years I have owned this refrigerator. Ridiculous for any unit but especially one in this price bracket. I attempted to contact customer service to discuss the fourth replacement of the ice maker but simply received a form letter indicating that they have no obligation once the warranty runs out. We purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher about 3 years ago. KUDS35FXSSO. This dishwasher had the wheels on the top rack fall apart within the first 2 years. Then just days ago, the main controller just stopped working. It looked like the controls were not getting power. So we called Whirlpool and they sent out a local company to see what was wrong. I had to pay $100 for them to tell me that the controller is known to go out and be defective. Also the internal control box was hanging by the wires, also known issue and has caused fires. I also found out the valve was not working so the top sprayers were not getting water so they were not cleaning the top dishes. The parts for these items are covered from years 2-5, but not labor. Total labor cost for all of this plus the previously mentioned cost is around $300. That is not to mention that a heating error was also found (another known issue) but not covered by the warranty. My question is if all of these are known issues, and have occurred to many people, why are these dishwashers not recalled? Or why hasnt there been a class action lawsuit! I will not have them fix this piece of garbage, just so I can pay again down the road to replace or have it fixed again.

We purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher 1 year ago. Worked fine - quiet, clean dishes, etc until 9 months into the purchase. I began noting peculiar smell and dark scum near drain at front right corner. Store informed me that the drain line that went into the new garbage disposal under the sink may be too low. We raised the drain hose to be above and this seemed to work for a couple of days but the swampy odor has returned as well as a chalky haze on some of the dishes on the lower rack. I am now told that the problem may be in the control panel. Really?! This is too new an appliance to have this type of problem. I do not think Consumer Report truly assessed the quality of workmanship when they recommended this dishwasher.

This may be a fine refrigerator; maybe we bought the lemon of the bunch? Either way, KitchenAids repair service/process is TERRIBLE. KitchenAid uses Flamingo Appliance Repair based out of Florida with a branch here in Atlanta. They have been to my house 8 times within 4 weeks and they have been incredibly rude and unhelpful. How many of you have that much time that you can take off from work? Yea, me too! The customer service representatives with KitchenAid and Flamingo have been polite, but all they can do is read to you the script that is written for them. Meanwhile, we have spent $3,000 on a refrigerator that doesnt cool below 50 degrees and the ice maker may or may not dispense ice from the door, which Flamingo cannot address if the one time it decides to work is when the technician is here.. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in March 2011 from Lowes. I chose the KitchenAid brand and paid a slightly higher amount as I was told they are well built and work better than any other brand on the market, and because I thought they would stand by their product. In December 2012, the upper rack adjuster broke because it is made of plastic and the dishwasher has the lift higher feature, that is used quite a bit. I contacted customer service and they said the part was out of stock and finally in late January I received the replacement part. Last week it broke again, same place, so I contacted customer service again and I asked them if anyone else has this issue and I was told they could not discuss this with me but there is no recall. Was told I am sorry but the part is in stock, call Marcone to order the part. The cost is $40.00 plus shipping. I am so angry right now. I have a dishwasher that is useless. Without the top rack in the upper spray unit will not work.

The company is American, right??? Not so fast. The initial timeline was 4 weeks (which is bad enough) but in the end IT WAS 4 MONTHS!!! During this time I called Kitchenaid more than once to find out where my motherboard was. They could not, or would not give me a straight answer as to any timeline to expect it. My thinking was that it was somewhere in China being created. Thank God we had another fridge in the garage but I have learned my lesson. NEVER, NEVER never will I purchase another Whirlpool product ever again!!! You would think when you pay $10,000 for a fridge a better repair experience would follow. Clearly Whirlpool doesnt give a crap. STEER CLEAR, PEOPLE!!!

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator on Sept. 15, 2015 and it arrived with a non-working ice maker. We purchased it from a local Eugene, OR company rather than a big box store. My wife wanted to support a local business. When called about the non-working ice maker that dealer said wait 72 hours to see if it comes on because sometimes it takes that long. Had we known that we could not have made the purchase. Other manufacturers provide ice makers that begin work immediately (e.g., GE or LP). When it did not work 72 hours later we called the dealer again and he said he would call KitchenAid (KA) about warranty service. KA called a couple days later to say the parts were on order and would be ready in about 5 days. Nothing happen after 5 days and our dealer has not been any further help (Appliance and TV Center, Eugene, OR). Given the fact that the refrigerator arrived broken and there appears to be no KA service, we regret this purchase. Others in the market would be well-advised to avoid KitchenAid and look to GE or LP whose appliances have worked well for us.

We had this oven when we purchased the house and it was perhaps the appliance that was least used. Over the past several months we have been getting an error in the control panel F6E0 - Lost Communications. The error would sometimes solve by itself, but this time we waited for about a month before calling a technician. He told us that the control panel would be $700 and the problem may be solved. It may require another control panel replacement which is in the $200 range. Why would Kitchen Aid design products that would last for 5 years when the good old Electric ranges with much less electronics lasted for 20 years. Where is quality? Where is reliability? I perhaps should not blame KitchenAid alone on this. Since we are all demanding (or receiving) products that look more like a computer - we replace it as often as a computer and trash the old ones in China. Further, they declined to post my review on their website - Sure they dont want to see it on their site!

We remodeled our Kitchen and we bought a new oven, microwave, dishwasher, warmer all KitchenAid appliances. First time we heated up the oven to 350 degrees, it heated up to over 500 degree and burnt the bottom of the oven. The temperature settings are very off and wrong, everything we cook we have to use set it very low to get it to cook properly. Dishwasher does not clean correctly and it was leaking, they did come in and adjust it. It kind of works now. The Microwave has been repaired twice in the first year, and this model cost $1000. The warmer works fine.I will never buy anything KitchenAid ever again. We have had nothing but 3 years of issues, and the customer service repair guy did not have a clue on how to fix any of these appliances so he just keeps ordering parts and wasting our time for this $1000 microwave. Really disappointed in KitchenAid. They are the worst and most terrible customer service team. They never offered to replace any of the appliances and when we unpacked the microwave it had a ding in the front of it.

Our 11 month old Kitchen Aid refrigerator was determined unrepairable after 4 service calls and the compressor and evaporator replaced. After numerous calls to the manufacturer and being without a refrigerator for 4 weeks we were told it would be replaced and we would receive a call to schedule. After not hearing back for several days we called and were transferred to the exchange dept where the wait time was 64 minutes. One week later we still have not had a reply from Kitchen Air/Whirlpool but fortunately, Home Depot, where it was purchased resolved the issue to our satisfaction.

KitchenAid refrigerator model #KSCS25INSS01 failed, quit and died - This refrigerator quit working after only 5.6 years. It was the main control board. The fact that I lost some food wasnt the real issue for me. It was the response I received: We are very sorry, the control board is no longer available. The vendor that manufactures the part is no longer available, with no new supplier to manufacture the part at this time. Since we are also consumers, we understand your frustration. My only option is to send the part out and have it repaired. No response to my question about warranty and no to a new refrigerator. My issue is if KitchenAid cannot get parts, then they shouldnt be in the appliance business. So much for the warranty, its not worth the paper its written on. I only wish I would have read all of these other complaints prior to buying their products. Did this happen after Whirlpool bought them out or has it always been this bad? I have never had a problem with refrigerator, even the old secondhand ones always work. Any suggestions how to proceed? It looks to me like my experience doesnt even rate as a horror story compared to what I have read on this site.

Bought this refrigerator 6/13/12 after home power surge destroyed our other KitchenAid refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY. We were very happy with the first one so decided to buy another, counter depth side by side. We had no problem the first year but shortly after the warranty expired, had an issue with hose connecting to freezer. After they realized it was a faulty part on the hose, they covered it. We have a wood floor in our kitchen so that also needed to be repaired. Thankfully, I decided to purchase the 5 year Extended Service Plan. We have used it three times, so far. We discovered water accumulating in bottom portion of the refrigerator and called service plan. In April, 2017, had the drain unclogged in fresh food side. Today I pulled out bottom drawer to find the same thing happening. It also had a lot of black mold on side of drawers and refrigerator. (I took lots of pictures). I set up appointment to have repair service come out to fix clog and also to check on why mold is appearing (probably related). Extended Service plan seems very responsive so I would recommend purchasing it.

I purchased a dishwasher in May 2011 for about $900.00 and within 2 months, the electrical panel broke and I could not open the dishwasher. At that time, I should have insisted they replace the dishwasher because it is an absolute piece of junk. Two and a half years later, the plastic pieces that hold the upper basket have broken for the third time. I called KitchenAid and spoke to a manager. They offered to pay for the parts but I would have to pay for the service call and labor. I told them forget it since the pieces can only cost pennies. What government agency forces manufacturers to recall faulty items? Obviously from the amount of complaints online and the numerous complaints to which the service company responds to, this is an ongoing problem that KitchenAid has failed to address. I will NEVER purchase a KitchenAid or Whirlpool product again. I advise anyone that is looking for an appliance to avoid this brand!!!!

Our first problem was that the plastic wheels on the top rack broke and it would not stay up. We had a repairman come and replace them. Less than year later they broke again. We were being very careful with the rack so it is not from being rough with it. They are made of very weak plastic and are not holding up to moderate use. Now the dishes are not being cleaned at all. We suspect that the upper arm is not working so everything on the top rack comes out dirty. To compound the problem, the dirt is now cemented on because of the drying cycle. That factor makes those dishes very hard to hand wash after being in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is just over two years old and is useless. We chose KitchenAid because we thought we were moving up to higher quality. It is so much poorer than our 12-year old dishwasher we replaced.

KitchenAid is saying that they will not pay for fixing my gas range repair that I purchased a year and half ago. This is the second time that we used the self clean, and it just stopped working. They sent a repair guy out. The first thing he said was, oh, this happens with the self clean mode. Ill show you another way to do self cleaning without it breaking down. Now they are saying they wont pay for the repair because I had the racks from the stove top in the oven so that I could get them cleaned. It does not say in the owner manual to not clean them in self cleaning. And I dont understand why that would affect it??? Please help! I just purchased the extended warranty for another 5 years, and cant afford to pay $850 out of pocket! KitchenAid are really thieves!!! Model number KGSS907SSS03.

This range (Frigidaire Gallery 30 electric range model# CGEF304DK) was included in our new home purchased last year. The range looks nice but the oven racks repeatedly fall down causing the food and pans to spill out! This problem I was told was due to my neglect. Are they kidding? Steel racks are not long enough to stay in contact with the oven sides! The racks are not distorted or bent they just fall down. This could cause serious flesh burns and or a catastrophic fire if unattended for any short time period. KitchenAid totally abandoned their responsibility in this matter. Also the convection fan failed to operate. This upscale range is not older than 3 years, its a disgrace. We put tin cans in to support the racks when using the oven. Pitifully sad. DONT PURCHASE THEIR PRODUCTS.

The sliding top shelf of my KitchenAid dishwasher is not sturdy. It requires a moderate amount of skill to use. The shelf must be gripped from below and after loading gently pushed back in an upward motion. When the shelf is pushed back, after loading, the shelf disengages from its roller bars and falls into the bottom shelf; this happens if the person loading forgets or jams the unit. It is difficult to reinstall. I have had to purchase an extended warranty from the distributor to enable normal usage. I purchased the unit and extended warranty from ABT Electronics, Glenview Illinois.

Worst dishwasher ever! Never worked right from day one. Dishes from every load still had food spots in them. The top basket is flimsy and the rollers continually broke. The computer went bad after 3 years. Bought the rip off extended warranty that gave me more excuses than repairs but was sold as a complete coverage warranty. Called the company and they agreed to cover the parts but I had to pay for the repairs. They sent out Bragdon Appliance in Cedar Rapids, a slip shot company that never fixed it or delivered all the parts, but charged me anyway.I bought a Kitchen Aid because my mother had one for years. It was made in Amana, 20 miles from where I live. The Kitchen Aid reputation of quality no longer exists. I will never buy a Kitchen Aid again. I dont like filling landfills with their expensive junk. I am throwing it out after 3 1/2 years and it is still under full coverage warranty for another 1 1/2 years.

Not only was it costly, the top tray does not stay in and you have to hold it while filling the bottom tray. We purchased a new refrigerator 2 weeks ago. The first one that was delivered was defective and after sending out a repair crew that could not fix it, it was replaced with a second defective refrigerator. After spending hours on the phone, KitchenAid sent out a repair company that stated the entire compressor and coils needed to be replaced and compared it to a new car needing a brand new engine and suggested having KitchenAid deliver us a new refrigerator. We requested that KitchenAid either deliver a brand new working refrigerator or pick up the defective one and refund us our money so we can buy another refrigerator elsewhere. KitchenAid refused and told us they just cant help us even though the refrigerator never worked from day 1 and is under warranty for 30 days. We spent a lot of money for a brand new refrigerator and do not want a rebuilt model when we paid for a new one. We have been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks now, have spent numerous hours taking off from work waiting for delivery and repair people and KitchenAid is not willing to assist us or even offered us any kind of concessions to make this situation right. We are extremely disappointed with this company, their customer service and how they conduct their business.

We purchased this new model stainless dishwasher on 11/27/2010. Our 1990 Maytag had served us well, but didnt hold enough dishes, I thought. Everyone said the new dishwashers hold more dishes, but not KitchenAid KUDE60HXSSO! First, this holds less dishes and glasses than my old Maytag. Second, whoever designed the KitchenAid racks should be fired. Its like doing a puzzle to get your dishes to fit. Many dishes and glasses just dont fit - same for pots and pans. And third, silverware holders fall into silverware rack. Very cheaply designed!Dont ever buy a dishwasher with the extra rack for silverware. All dishwasher holes are the same size. Because we have this top (3rd) rack, nothing fits into our dishwasher. Its supposed to be removable, but its difficult to get in and out. Anyhow, its too big to store anywhere in our small kitchen. We have an adjustable top rack which we keep in the upper position. As a result, only saucers fit into the top rack. High glasses must be in the front or they hit the extra shelf. If we lower the top rack, our dinner plates are too tall to fit in the bottom rack. The KitchenAid racks are ridiculous. Many glasses dont fit at all, some just in the far right and far left. There is nowhere to put cocktail glasses with rims. They are too tall. We had a place for them in our old Maytag. The silverware holders fall inside the silverware holder, so that it is time-consuming to put silverware in or take it out. We wanted a replacement.Immediately, our door didnt open all the way, so that the bottom rack was tilted when opened. We complained right away to customer service and they werent interested in listening to any complaint or reporting it. They sent a serviceman who wasnt interested either. We persisted and he finally made the door open more, still not completely, but he says that is normal. The 2nd serviceman was nice, so we got him to call technical service (a customer is not allowed to speak to technical customer service!). Anyhow, they sent a new silverware rack; and of course, its just as bad a design as the first. Right away, the dishes and glasses did not get clean on pro-wash and pro-dry. I had film and lipstick on all my glasses and dirt remaining on my dishes. Immediately, I complained to customer service who were unfriendly, rude, sarcastic and insulting. They sent service who ran some stupid diagnostic that told them that the dishes were cleaning as they were supposed to. So no one cares about my dirty dishes and glasses. As long as their test is okay - customer be damned. We complained to customer service, and they said we needed service again. Our dishes were clean with the old Maytag. But for this dishwasher, we needed to buy Cascade Complete and still the dishes werent clean. I now use the single tablets and only Heavy duty, Proscrub, High Temp Scrub and sani-rinse. My dishes are cleaner. Pro-wash and Pro-dry do not clean them even though I scrape and even rinse most dishes and glasses.I hate this dishwasher because I cant fit my dishes into the racks. Ill never buy another KitchenAid appliance. The KitchenAid customer service is horrible. They could care less about any complaints. Ive complained to KitchenAid supervisors - time-consuming and unsatisfying. Now, I see that many others complain about KitchenAid. Now, we need a new refrigerator and I see all the complaints about KitchenAid. However, Whirlpool and Maytag are the same box and same company. So what do I do? Why cant they make appliances that work? Its disgraceful!

2 months past a 2 year warranty and my back burner knob is stuck in locked position. When contacting customer service they had the audacity to tell me that there has been no reports of this type of thing ever happening, and if its not a burner problem the service repair and parts to fix the problem that shouldnt be happening in the first place is at my expense. Only the burner and control panel is covered for 5 years. The odd part about this is, this burner is barely ever used and has the least amount of wear and tear. This is clearly a manufacturing flaw and I made sure that the customer service representative knew that many people are having the same problem and is reporting it online and I fail to believe their claim that this has not been reported to them ever!!! Just because they refuse to document it doesnt change the fact that it is a known issue. I have not had the unfortunate experience of the glass breaking as others reported as of yet. But now that I know about it, I feel sick to my stomach. This was supposed to be my dream stove and really thought I was getting that stove with a KitchenAid product. As far as customer service, they sucked and lied to me about this issue and refused to acknowledge that the problem even exists. I think I will turn to Canada companies for my next dream stove who still care about product quality in the future. Not looking forward to all the upcoming difficulties as my stove succumbs to all the reported poor manufacturing design flaws. I feel sad and duped into buying a Whirlpool product that I hated from past ownership due to poor quality control and design flaws. Then finding out, Whirlpool is using the KitchenAid reputation of the past to sell inferior products that they know full well, will never live up to the superior products of KitchenAid.

I bought a Kitchenaid dish washer (KUDS30IXSS8) based on my experience of decades of reliable, high quality product ownership. If you are reading this, you already know what a complete piece of junk your dish washer is because youre once again repairing the thing. My upper dish rack height adjustment mechanism self destructed after only one year, sending small pieces of plastic into the water flow. Of course they ended up in the food chopper and thus, trashed the blade and plastic shaft assembly. Whirlpool refused to send the part, even though the flawed design from the rack mount is what caused the damaged. They wanted to order a service call, at my expense, or they offered me an extended service plan for $270. The part only cost around $12 from from Amazon. There was plenty of how-to videos on the web to show you how to fix the part, so I opted to fix it myself. The new part looks exactly the same with no structural improvements so Whirlpool continues to put out inferior parts to go perfectly with their inferior products.

About 4+ years ago, I purchased a KitchenAid KUDK03FTSS dishwasher. Just before the warranty expired, I complained that I had to have service done on the dishwasher because the pump needed replacement. The service man said the problem was Kitchenaid (who I think is Whirlpool) designed dishwasher so the silverware basket was located too close to the heating element in the back portion of the machine. The pieces of plastic crumbled and fell into the dishwasher, and caused the pump to fail. I immediately complained to KitchenAid. They immediately sent me a new basket. I asked at that time if their design was a flaw, and should these dishwasher be recalled. I was told no design failure, just basket worn due to silverware. We place all our silverware in the basket with the handle down so there is never a cause for anything to cut the basket. I have done this for 25 years with all my dishwashers. Well, now, I have to call a serviceman in again and yes, there are holes in the basket where the heat prematurely eroded the plastic which fell into the pump area. I called KitchenAid to see if they would send me another basket. They said, sorry, Charlie but your warranty is up. Over the past 35 years, I have owned KitchenAid dishwasher. Back when Hobart owned KitchenAid, they cared about quality. Unfortunately, Whirlpool only cares about shipping bad designed products. For sure it was a bad design, but I doubt if any consumer protection agency can do much. These companies are not only located outside the US, but the Federal Government cannot do anything about this poor workmanship.Maybe someday in the future, there will be a US engineer and entrepreneur who has their head on straight to design and manufacture a dishwasher in the US again. Until then, I suggest strongly that everyone wash their dishes the old fashion way in a sink until a company can start designing and manufacturing a quality dishwasher here in the US.We really deserve to go back to the old method of washing dishes by hand until this happens. Might take another 2 or 3 generations though! Fed up with the lack of quality of everything sold in the US.

In 2010 my wife had her dream kitchen installed, which included all Kitchenaid Stainless Steel appliances. All top of the line. (Sadly, my wife died a year and a half later of cancer) It is now just me, and an occasional child home from college, so these appliances are getting very light use. The freezer on the bottom refrigerator started to fill with ice at the bottom, which destroyed the Cherry floor underneath. This was due to a clogged duck valve, which is a two dollar part. The repairman said that they all do it, and a replacement part that was modified was installed. The damage to the floor is estimated to be over a thousand dollars. The dishwasher has gone through two thermal fuses, and now wont cycle. Im waiting for the repairman as I write this. I will never recommend any Kitchenaid appliance to anyone, and my three kids who are all in the process of going out on their own will not either. My call to Kitchenaid for the refrigerator problem was not only unhelpful, but I ended up at a call center in who knows where. So, avoid this brand. We recently bought a used KitchenAid stainless steel stove. The control knobs are at the front of the oven and we discovered that they are easily turned on with even the slightest touch or bump. Unfortunately, when working in the kitchen, I did not notice that I had lightly touched the control knob which turned on the High setting. Within minutes the high setting ignited the oil in the pan on a front burner and flames were shooting up hitting the over-the-stove microwave oven. The flames covered the bottom edge of the microwave and the plastic edge melted.Luckily I was able to extinguish the fire, but my house has extensive smoke damage and could have completely gone up in flames. As well, the microwave oven is no longer useable. The stove knobs are a serious safety hazard as they can too easily be turned on with a light touch, a childs hand or even a dog sniffing the front of the stove. We are going to throw the stove out and never buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

Moved into a townhome. Excited to return to KitchenAid products including the gas range. It took 40 minutes on all burners to boil a single pot of water. I had a technician come out. He pointed out the grates sit too high. He suggested replacing the safety valve. Total cost was $300. It did not make a change. I called a distributor. He reported I cannot replace the grates and it is a faulty design of KitchenAid. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Model number is KGSS907SSS00. It is a 2006 product. I am worried regarding the self clean over after reviewing your website.

It was terrible. I purchased a dishwasher (model KUDS30CXWH) 10 months ago, and its been one problem after another. After a few months, the buttons stopped working. A few months later, it would rinse, then the rack wheels broke, and now it wont run at all. I replaced the card but I needed a bar. Of course, it takes a week to get the bar. KitchenAid doesnt care.

For the second time the transistor/computer board has malfunctioned. We bought the appliance in set 2006. After two months we had a terrible leak due to a faulty stab fitting in the water line. In Feb 2010 the transistor blew and was replaced. It happened again and now we need to get a rebuilt one, not new because of the tsunami knocking out the plant that used to make the parts. Why would I trust the part? Also they say turnaround is 48 hours, we will see. If it werent for the custom wood panels I have on the fridge, I would switch to a new brand!

KitchenAid has been my go to appliance ever since the first used dishwasher I purchased 30+ years ago, still working when I finally decided to upgrade it after 20+ years. I had it for 20 years, and it was already a used item when I purchased it. So that was my first introduction to KitchenAid and I have depended on their quality appliances ever since. I have not been disappointed with my all KitchenAid kitchen appliances for my oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

I purchased this model in March and had it for four weeks when the freezer dipped down to zero degrees and the refrigerator went up to 65 degrees. The store where I bought it immediately exchanged it. In less than a month the freezer in the new refrigerator went down to 6 degrees. Someone came to replace a part. It was defrosted and plugged in again but has not gone past 6 degrees. I have lost a lot of money in food and KitchenAid will not reimburse. The store where I bought this piece of junk is replacing it with an LG.

After purchasing and installing a new Kitchenaid Architect Series II convection wall oven (KEBS109SS), the noise from the convection fan was overwhelming. I removed the oven from the wall and opened the rear panel when I noticed that the fan motor was loose. Further investigation helped me determine that the mounting screws were accessible from the inside of the oven by removing the panel covering the fan. Once I tightened the mounting screws, the sound from the convection fan is almost unnoticeable. I can understand the complaints made from other Kitchenaid owners concerning the irritating fan noise. Hopefully, this simple repair will eliminate their problem so they too can enjoy their ovens too.

Our brand new KitchenAid fridge has malfunctioned since we received it. Instead of replacing, Kitchenaid forced us to go through Lake Appliance repair for service. 10 visits and multiple replacement parts later, still malfunctioning. Kitchenaid customer service is MIA and designed to prevent customers from reaching them. The repair guys can get through easily, and in fact are told not to talk in front of the end customer. Our 1 year warranty expires next month, so we had to buy extended since the unit still is not functioning properly. The unit was very expensive and “American-made.” Do not buy from this company. They are terrible units, they don’t give you choice of service companies, and the company is entirely apathetic to your family’s health and investment.

I wish I had read reviews here before we bought our stove! We have a 2003 KitchenAid (KGSC308LSSO) -- $1400 and change. It has fussy controls and hard to clean; Ive never liked the thing. The self-cleaner stopped working years ago; weve just lived without it. Then last week the stove was preheating to 350F, and the inner glass window spontaneously broke. My husband called it in; gave them the model number and all other information.Today I have to take a half day off of work. The usual response, well come between 1-5 PM routine; around 3 PM a repairman called to say he would be coming by to look at the stove, and put in an order for any needed parts. What the **? We need a window. Its going to cost me half a day of work, plus the cost of a service call, or two calls, to have some guy who sounded pretty incompetent on the phone tell me that we need a new window? No more KitchenAid in this house.

I was cooking at the KitchenAid Architect II Slide In range on November 20, 2012, and had the oven set to turn on automatically. Just after it reached the temperature, I heard a hissing noise followed by a really bad smell. I moved back across the room. Then there were many loud bangs and pops, followed by large flames behind the range and black smoke. I quickly turned off the oven and cook top, and then the last explosion blew out all the lights on the range and the fire went out. We purchased the range 4-1/2 years ago and took the extended warranty through the appliance dealer - Queen City (QC). The model is the KESS908SPS, and we paid $1600. We purchased 5 kitchen appliances at that time. This is the second time we have had a wiring problem with the range. The last time, the stove stopped working, and they said the plug was not installed correctly to the stove. They fixed the plug. This time, QC sent out a repairman who is giving them an estimate of $500 to repair. Again, he says the plug was not installed correctly to the stove. We do not believe it to be repairable and are afraid of the range. I spent the night vomiting and ended up in the ER the next day from dehydration. I called Whirlpool to see what that smell came from to see what I had ingested. They gave me a case file number, but seemed more interested in whether or not we had the tip-over safety feature installed. QC is offering to give us the $500 toward a new range, but no offers to replace it even with the extended warranty. Were through with Whirlpool.

Our freezer stopped freezing and when we called for repair they said that even though a ten year warranty existed for major parts, it could not be repaired. We are disappointed at the results that we have received from KitchenAid for they wanted to send yet one more repairman, who would charge us an unreasonable amount and we would need to pay for repairs if they could be made. Very well made microwave. Love that it matches the other appliances. It has so many features! From melting butter to baking a pizza on the pan that is included with the microwave. No problems as of yet in the 3 years we have had the microwave. It is stainless steel and looks pretty. The only slight improvement I would make, is it would be nice to have a flatter looking front. It reminds me of a spaceship with the way it bows out from the door front. But I do like that underneath it is angled up towards the front, so it allows for more working space on the stove top that it sits over. Over all I am really pleased with the purchase.

I spent $2,300 at Arts Appliances In North Haven, Ct, for a Slide-n electric range and microwave that were shipped direct from the factory. They were so called professionally installed. The time we used them the range emitted a loud pop and a flash which blew the breaker. The cause was a disconnected burner wire that shorted out on the chassis. Evidently the wire was never connected at the factory, an oversight that could have caused a house fire. We also quickly discovered that the lamp in the microwave above the range did not work.Arts sent us a couple of replacement bulbs. It took all my strength and care to remove the bulb which I discovered had been silicone sealed into the bulb socket. Its incredible that no one discovered these defects during the in assembly process or in Quality Control. Two major appliance shipped to the same consumer and both were defective. Adding insult to injury it took days to reach the factory claim center and days for a tech to arrive. The store owners insisted that I had to resolve the problem with the factory.

If I had been in another room, who knows what would have happened? As far as Im concerned, its trashed! From what I have been reading here from you folks, it doesnt appear that KitchenAid is very helpful no matter what the problem. You pay top $ for what you think is a good product, lesson learned. This refrigerator is not even 2 years old and one of the LED lights burned out. Long story short, technician could not fix it, he said you need a new fridge, say what, for a light bulb??? KitchenAid offers to replace it, oh by the way it will cost you $600.00 because it is out of warranty. I ask KitchenAid if they are for real, $600.00 for a light bulb, are you kidding me. Everything else on the fridge works but the LED lights. Poor design such that the connector pulls off the wires that are buried inside the cabinet and the modern techs do not know how to repair, therefore, need new fridge is the answer. Do not buy this fridge if you want something that lasts. Also do not bother to call KitchenAid customer service, they are no help at all. I bought this fridge, a double oven and a dishwasher, all at the same time. I will never buy KitchenAid again.

Now, ice accumulating in my refrigerator and the fan is continuous on sounding like a twin engine in the kitchen. Tech said I needed a sensor. I give this zero stars for my safety nothing can compromise that. I had a Kitchenaid stove up until yesterday. It was a stand alone range and for some reason it was putting out a abnormal amount of heat in the kitchen. Also it seemed like I was nauseous some time just standing close to the unit. I put the unit on self clean didnt seem like it worked at all. Had the unit tested by the gas company and they tagged it off as a hazard. The reading on preheat alone was high in carbon monoxide coming out the oven vent. I do not know why these products are so expensive when the quality isnt there. I just replaced the stove with a better brand and my kitchen isnt hot at all...and was tested no readings whatsoever. Stay away from this brand if you value your safety.

We have had a lot of problems with this microwave. The door locks and does not open (happened twice! I had to take it apart to replace the plastic mechanism). The light bulb burned out. This is NOT a consumer serviceable item! (Im a licensed electrical engineer; I think I can replace a light bulb without getting shocked by the capacitor!) I found one online and fixed it. The latest problem is the microwave runs with the door open! It happened earlier today. Then it worked fine, but it just happened again! We put something in and started it and then it timed out and stopped. We opened the door and it started running again. This is DANGEROUS! I have small children and the microwave is mounted below the counter! I dont want my children getting hurt by this hazardous device! We chose KitchenAid because we thought it had a reputation for quality. Boy, were we wrong! We have had problems with our other KitchenAid appliances as well, but the microwave is the worst!

The fridge started leaking at the top. I paid $115 from a repairman to be told this is a known defect for this fridge (air leak at the top). So KitchenAid should offer free repair for anyone who this affects. They are now made differently, so why should I be stuck with a lemon? I am so mad right now, repairing it is out of the question as I was quote $650. Also if this is a known defect, why didnt KitchenAid alert us? I could have saved $115 by not having a repairman out to our house. The solution for this is to turn the water off to our fridge and not having a water or ice maker, which is half the reason we bought the fridge. Stay away from this entire brand. We are also dealing with a Kitchenaid microwave that the whole door has fallen apart, literally, cracking and chipping away and I spent $225 for a new door that should arrive any day.

When I had my brand new Superba Microwave Convection Oven installed, it did not work. The light came on and the timer counted down as if the oven was on but the microwave never turned on. The manufacturer would not replace it and I was furious. The warranty only covers repairs. It never worked from day 1. After three visits by repairmen over 7 weeks, the broken part, the appliance manager was installed and it worked temporarily. Then a few weeks later, the same thing happened. My builder was disgusted and took the oven out and gave me a brand new model (Whirlpool/KitchenAid wouldn’t). It was the same model but a brand new unit. After a few months, I had a similar problem and the repairman came out. And guess what, it’s the appliance manager again. I do not want this model back in my house. INCREDIBLY BAD PRODUCT. The good: the format of a small micro/convection oven over a large regular/convection oven works nicely for me as I can cook almost everything in the small oven and don’t have to waste energy on large oven except special occasion cooking. That said, the electronics went out twice in first couple of years, had to be completely replaced. Now I’m never sure if oven will work on any given day.NEXT: the first time I tried to use the clean program, about a half hour in, I heard a very loud crash and rushed in to kitchen to find glass all over. The whole glass door exploded all over. I eventually got it replaced but now am afraid to use it again. The bell which signals “done” and the timer itself long since stopped working and the turntable doesn’t turn. Today I found the glass top part of the turntable in pieces large and small. I’ve no idea what caused this. I’m worried that a replacement brand will not fit into the custom built in space I will have when I try to dump this headache. P.S. Read my review of KA dishwasher and immersion blender, neither of which are favorable. I have learned my lesson about this brand.

We bought a whole suite of KitchenAid large appliances (from Fergusons) for our new home build. We have been very satisfied with the performance of all - UNTIL the dishwasher tore up. It was still under the factory warranty. We called the issue in and there was a local company (American Appliance) that arrived 3 weeks later to repair. They discovered that the heating element of the dishwasher was broken and needed to be replaced. They ordered the part. They said it should arrive in 7-10 business days. After that amount of time, I called to be told that it was on backorder. They didnt have any clue of when the part would be back in stock. Therefore, we started reaching out to KitchenAid directly. We have spent over 6+ hours trying to reach KitchenAid and to speak to their technical department, parts department, warranty group, and finally complaint group. We have been told multiple things - there was a recall on the part (cant confirm that one), the part was out of stock and would not be in stock until after December 30 (totally unacceptable), and that the part was finally now in stock. We were told on July 8 that the part would go out to us on a truck the next day. Apparently that didnt happen. We have been on the phone with KitchenAid complaints again today for over 1.5 hours (more time) to be told that the part has been ordered but has not been pulled and shipped yet and that it would take another 2-3 weeks for that to happen. We made the choice to buy Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) appliances for our new house because they are American made and felt that they would stand behind their products. We are so dissapointed in how this has been handled. We are going to be without our dishwasher for at least 2+ months (and we are a family of 6 people). Our disappointment comes from both the quality of the part but even more importantly the way we have been treated and the repair handled once it tore up. I would not recommend them today. I would be cautious because if you have issues it is not an easy road to travel! Our warranty has not been very effective up to this point.

In my Google search of this problem, I came upon an interesting post (which I could not relocate today) that may be helpful to some. A realtor from Ariz posted her problem with the same circumstances; same circuit board part number (W10121049 and substitute board 10219462. She said her husband had experience with soldering and circuit boards and was able to repair their refrigerator with a $5 capacitor, purchased at Radio Shack. She said she had found out these boards had defective capacitors manufactured in South Korea. Sure enough, my repairman showed me the rounded top of the blown out capacitor on my circuit board... The oven sensors dont work properly, and when using double oven, unit shuts down and lower door locks. It seems like many others on this site have had the same problem. It sounds like a class action suit to me as it also appears Kitchenaid does nothing to make it right. When you pay over $2,000 for an oven, you expect a solid 10 to 15 years of use. I purchased a stainless steel side by side for about $1700.00 in July of 2013. Here are the issues with it and please keep in mind, two service calls were made to look at it, more on that later. The stainless steel started to show rust spots all over both doors. You cannot fill your glass with ice from the dispenser in the left door when the right door is open which is very annoying. The left door does not close all the way when you swing it shut. It looks closed and the open light goes off but it does not make a seal and you have to push it to shut all the way. It is extremely loud when it makes ice. The water filter replace sign came on after about 3 months and the filters are about $50 each and it beeps at you 3 times when you get water until you replace the filter which is very annoying.I called about 9 months before the warranty ran out and they sent some guy who was trained to tell me it was everything else in my kitchen that was wrong except the refrigerator. I called again about a month later because the rust was getting worse and the second guy that came out said the doors needed to be replaced and that he would order them. It has been about six months and still no doors and now it is out of warranty. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID!!
