Since our purchase of the KitchenAid, model KSSC42QVS04, 42-inch built-in refrigerator, the ice bucket and dispenser freezes up and/or leaks. We called KitchenAid AND the retailers service departments. They came out and played with it for a while. The service tech basically said it was a design flaw and nothing could be done! KitchenAid and the retailer, Pacific Sales, owned by Best Buy, refused to do anything!! Weve purchased a $9000 lemon. Please never buy KitchenAid or shop at Pacific Sales... Youll be sorry!!! I will be filing a lawsuit against KitchenAid and Pacific Sales.

I always bought KitchenAid for my appliances. I considered myself a good customer but right now Im completely dissatisfied and angry because on what is happening with my Range Oven/Microwave (Model KEMC308KSS01 - Serial XR5013510). I bought it on Nov. 2004. I had the Service Saver Agreement until 2005. On Jan 2005, the microwave glass door exploded for the first time. We replaced the glass with their service rep, Allstate Factory Service, for $400. On Nov 2005, the same glass exploded again, another $400 to replace it. We replaced the glass with their rep from Appliance Expert Appliance Repair. For the Third time on March 05 2012, the glass exploded again. The microwave glass door always exploded when was not in operation. We already spent $800 replacing the microwave glass door for a microwave that should work fine at the first place. We never experienced such a bad performance by any KitchenAid products before. I have to assume that the Range Oven/Microwave that I bought has a defect from manufacture, faulty and represent a safety hazard. Maybe they should have issue a recall of this model. But to tell you the truth, we feel scared about this product. We know it will cause an explosion or a fire or glass will start flying in the air, etc. We expecting to obtain a replacement since the unit never work properly and represent a safety hazard.

After one year evaporator freezes up. Whirlpool sends out repair man who says evaporator not working, must order parts. A week later replaces thermostat. A week or two later evaporator frozen again. A week later replaces electric control board. Two months later evaporator frozen again. A week later repair man comes out, yes evaporator broken, must order parts. A couple weeks later repair man replaces circuit board. Seven months later evaporator freezes up again. A week later repair guy shows up, yes it is broken. Will need to order parts. It has now been almost three weeks and still waiting on parts. In between waiting for the repair guy or on parts, I have had to unload the refrigerator and manually defrost it every 1-2 weeks. KitchenAid had a very good reputation once upon a time. Apparently they are now getting their parts from the lowest bidder, most likely China. One other reviewer said KitchenAid refrigerators has over 3,000 parts backordered.

I purchased a new KitchenAid Superba EQ Series 24 dishwasher model KUDE40FX
I purchased a new KitchenAid Superba EQ Series 24 dishwasher model KUDE40FXBL4 from Sears.com on November 21, 2011. The appliance was delivered and installed on December 5, 2011. In May of 2012, the dishwasher stopped mid-cycle and would not drain the water from the tub. The control panel was totally non-functional. On May 18, 2012, a factory authorized repairman from A&E Factory Service attempted to repair the dishwasher by replacing a bi-metal fuse. The dishwasher functioned until June when the same repairman returned on June 1, 2012 because the dishwasher had again stopped mid-cycle, would not drain water and the control panel was non-functioning. At this time, the repairman installed a controller and fuse. I told the repairman I was very concerned that the dishwasher had to be repaired twice within a two-week timeframe. I also mentioned the fact that the dishwasher possibly could be defective and that I did not want an appliance that needs constant servicing. The repairman assured me that KitchenAid would replace the dishwasher if it continued to break down.Yesterday, December 6, 2012, one year and one day after the initial installation of the dishwasher, the dishwasher again shut down mid-cycle. I spent over an hour on the telephone attempting to get a satisfactory resolution from KitchenAid and/or Sears. I was not satisfied with anything KitchenAid or Sears offered. Their basic answer was that I should have the appliance repaired and buy an extended warranty. My answer to that is why throw good money after bad? All that accomplishes is to make the purchase price of a defective product cost even more. If after two service calls during the first six months of use KitchenAid factory service has not been able to accomplish a complete and total repair of the dishwasher so that it does not breakdown every six months, then purchasing an extended warranty will not fix the defective product.I was a loyal customer of KitchenAid products prior to this bad experience. I had a wonderful KitchenAid dishwasher prior to purchasing this defective model, but the wire baskets needed replacing and were so expensive. I thought it wiser to invest in a new dishwasher than to put new baskets in a 10-year old dishwasher. I now realize what a foolish decision that was. That dishwasher is still functioning perfectly in someone elses home while I am facing the possibility of dealing with a defective appliance that will require servicing every six months or replacing. Either way, I lose. It is my educated opinion that KitchenAid should replace the defective appliance and recall that model. To the reasoning mind, the thought occurs that these breakdowns are a built in ploy to sell extended warranties and thus keep the parts and service departments also in business. While this practice of planned breakdowns may appear to be a revenue generator equal to or greater than planned obsolescence, it may prove detrimental in the long run. As a particular and wise consumer, I will find another manufacturer of a longer durability and better quality product or just give up the dishwasher all together. The consumer does have other options. At any rate, I refuse to be forced into paying additional funds for a dishwasher that is not functioning up to the original expectation of the purchase price of $1,377.01, which is an overcharge for a product that only works for six months at a time.

Kitchenaid Duel Fuel Range Oven Problem Model KDRP407HSS10 - While baking oven door locked and went into cleaning cycle, food in oven was smoking and could not cancel cycle. Husband had to turn breaker off and let oven cool down and then turn breaker back on so electronics would unlock door and then was able to get food out. Tried to use oven again and did the same thing. Called Kitchenaid and they would not admit or even acknowledge they were aware of the problem. I told them they had to be aware of the problem because I have seen postings of the same exact problem going all the way back to 2005. Had to ask twice to talk to supervisors at next level to try and get their explanation of what it would take to repair the range. I explained I wanted to talk to someone who had knowledge of what it was required to fix the problem. Someone at KA has to know what is wrong. I am now waiting for the third supervisor to call us back. One posting I read said that in the state of NY there was a class action lawsuit filed against KA. This is an extremely dangerous situation and could cause a serious fire. Do not understand why this problem has not been addressed. The ovens should have been recalled.

When I called KitchenAid, they wanted $150.00 to check it out and I was told that the life of appliances is only about 8 yrs! Wow! KitchenAid is now crossed off my list of worthy appliance makers along with GE! This is my third appliance to break down within three yrs. On Wednesday, April 11, 2012, I ran the Self-Cleaning cycle on my KitchenAid Built-in Double Ovens. Approximately an hour into the cycle, the glass liner exploded and shattered. I reported to problem to KitchenAids Customer Service and they had a local service rep call me within 24 hours. He indicated that he had to order the part but should have it within a week. It has been almost two weeks and I have not heard from the service rep. The oven is less than 6 months old so it is covered under warranty. Although I had been extremely happy with how the oven performed (baked) until recently, we are extremely dissatisfied with how KitchenAid is treating the problem. They did say that they would replace the glass but we are concerned about safety and using it in the future.

Architect Series II Model KDTE704DBL0 is a $1,799 piece of junk. We purchased this top of the Kitchenaid line dishwasher to replace a 16 year old Bosch dishwasher. It was installed on May 11, 2015. Just two years later, in May, 2017, the control panel which operates the entire machine failed. It was still under warranty (labor not covered). It took a week to get the part which was replaced on May 26, 2017 at the cost of $100 for labor. About two weeks later, on June 10, 2017 the replacement control panel failed. This time it took over two weeks to get the replacement part. It was installed at the end of June. The owner of the appliance store gave me a break and only charged $50 labor this time.On Thursday, September 7, 2017 the second replacement control panel failed. And I am once again without a dishwasher. I have not yet heard when the third replacement control panel might be delivered and installed. And even when the dishwasher is repaired... After this how can I have any confidence that it will work for long? It was a horrible decision to buy this dishwasher. The price was three to four times the cost of the average dishwasher. I thought we were purchasing a quality product that would last for many years. I am so disappointed by how unreliable this dishwasher has proven to be. I wish I had stuck with the Bosch. My sister bought a Bosch for $1,200 a few months before I needed to replace my 16 year old Bosch. Its working fine and she loves it.

I purchased a dishwasher from Lowes in 2015. 1st of all Lowes extended warranty runs consecutively with the manufacturers warranty so you really are getting 1 yr less of a warranty than you pay for. I had a service repair man come out and diagnose the problem and said it was $400.00 to repair. I called KitchenAid and they said it should still be under warranty because I had a 1 yr manufacturer warranty and I paid for a 3 yr extended warranty. WRONG!!! I called Lowes and thats when they said the extended warranty starts from day 1 of purchase, running the same time as the manufacturer. So I called KitchenAid back because the dishwasher does have a 2-5 yr manufacturer limited warranty BUT since I did not use one of their two service companies, both I have never heard of, to look at it, they will not cover the part needed and wont accept the other companys diagnosis because they are not an authorized service company with KitchenAid. The 1st customer service agent I had was very helpful, the 2nd call, the agent was not friendly at all. Said the 1st agent should have been more clear and have a good day. I will never buy another KitchenAid product and I definitely will never purchase another warranty for appliances. They are a waste of money.

Like many other posts here, I purchased my model KUDK03CTSS3 in June 2009. And like the others, the top drawer does not get the dishes clean; there is a film and dried food that makes it more difficult to clean after the cycle.Additionally, there are rust spots all along the front panel of the unit. Customer service recommended a rust cleaner, though they admitted it wouldnt completely remove the rust(?) but would prevent further rusting. Ummm, What? How about replacing the front panel, because it shouldnt rust no matter what. They told me it was due to the steam coming from the top/front of the unit during the cycle. Was this something no one thought of when designing and manufacturing the thing? No one figured out a dishwasher would create steam, so the front panel should be steam-resistant?Also, they recommended affresh tablets to clean the unit inside. I already tried the vinegar wash; I dont expect these magical tablets to make any difference whatsoever. At the time of purchase, the money I spent was hard-earned, and I thought I had done appropriate research and due diligence. Almost three years later, in this economy, I cant even justify the cost of a service call, so Im handwashing my dishes.Do not purchase KitchenAid; you will be sorry.

This is Kitchenaid model KEBC247VSS02. The problem is common among ALL kitchenaid wall ovens. When using the self-cleaning mode, the oven apparently overheats resulting in a thermal fuse to blow. The oven shuts down completely, the door is locked and the oven cannot be used. Thanks to Youtube, the repair is relatively simple, although the entire double oven must be removed from the wall to replace the fuse. Appliance repair is a minimum of $200- 250. EVERY time the self-clean is used, the fuse blows. Therefore, self-clean CAN NOT be used. Terrible design and useless self-cleaning.

KitchenAid stove - KESA907PSS (ARCHITECTSERIES). Almost burned my house down last night - 10-05-2016. Well one of the knobs got stuck on this stove and had a mind of its own sometimes. I worked on and off. Then last night I was cooking on one stove top and baking at the same time all of a sudden the panel got piping hot and started to smoke. Could not touch the panel and I smelled fire and then I lost power to the stove. I read reviews about this particular model and two people said that it caught on fire and they caught it in time. I threw it away and I will never buy this brand again. I paid 1500 dollars for this slide in glass top stove. I dont know why KitchenAid is not standing behind their products. Why dont they admit there is a problem with the stove and recall it. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID.

We bought our KitchenAid Built-In Refrigerator in 2008 for approx $7,500. We have had several issues with the Ice Maker. However, this week, the Main Controller Board went out and had to be repaired. The authorized repair company told us that the Board had been discontinued by KitchenAid and they would work to get the board repaired. I called KitchenAid and eventually got through to someone that explained that the company that produced this board is located in Japan and was hit by the Tsunami and can no longer provide the board. Also, we are out of warranty and this is now our problem. My issue is that I had expectations that this high-end expensive refrigerator would last more than 6 years. A built in refrigerator should be repaired not replaced. I find it unacceptable that KitchenAid wouldnt have a Dual Source for this key component to the refrigerator. Bottom Line - Very Disappointed in KitchenAid!

Well, it started in October and finally, on April 1st (a coincidence?), I found out the part for my oven (replaced once before) was no longer manufactured and they could not find it. I had been promised on 6 separate occasions the part may be available (such fun having Christmas with no oven). It was a litany of no return calls to update the status of the part. The response: Were an incoming call center; we cant make outgoing calls. Hello?! - Its the 21st century. They did offer to pay for the part if I could find it on my own - of course; Ill do your job for you and on my time! As further compensation, they offered me 15% off the purchase of a new unit - once I supplied the invoice. Provincial taxes are 13% in Ontario - so big deal. I will grant you the stove is 10 years old and gently used, but is built-in obsolescence just the way it is? I feel terrible about sending a unit of this size to scrap when a dependable part was all that was required. I have gifted many friends and family KitchenAid products under the apparent fallacy theyre built to last. Never, ever again.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerators Model KBFC42FTSOO - Shame on you KitchenAid. I have several media contacts and once they report on all this I am hopeful that consumers will boycott your product. I also bought a 6300.00 refrigerator from the Great Outdoors in 2011. They were closing and since Sears owned them I purchased a floor model that was on display in a cabinet but had no power on to it. So I figured I saved 1100.00 between the brand new one. Wrong, I was told by the salesperson that it was a new model but when it was delivered and I tried to register it, it was manufactured in 2007. I called the store and Sears but since my receipt was stamped no refunds or exchanges they got me good. So now 3 years later the damn thing never worked right from the start and I have called it a piece of ** from the beginning. Guess what, my control panel out!! They do not have the part, tsunami story told and then broken contract with other company. I immediately called KitchenAid because I could not believe what this Tech was saying. Either I find an outside company with a rebuilt Control Panel or I can wheel the refrigerator to the side of the and basically its junk. KitchenAid confirm that they did not have the part and that the manufacturer was destroyed in the tsunami and the other company that has been listed several of these others complain are no longer is willing to make the control panels for them. I might have a chance of them rebuilding one for me directly and proceeded to provide the phone number for me which was wrong having to call them back and spend another 30 minutes on the phone. Another woman gave me two different phone numbers, none of them worked as well. After the third phone call I was provided with a company name and phone number they gave me that will certainly sell me a rebuilt one. I just paid $1200 for a rebuilt board. Interesting enough this company is offering a 10 year warranty on a rebuild control panel however KitchenAid only offers a one year warranty. I am sure kitchen Aid knew there was problems with this board for years. They should have recalled that or extend the warranty. I have never heard of a company not having a part in to be able to fix these refrigerator when people have paid so much money for them. Unless you have a money tree in your backyard and are able to pick enough for a new $8500-$10,000 refrigerator which I do not. They should stock the part and be able to control the market from other outside companies hiking it up prices to their desperate customers that just need their refrigerators fixed, realistically the part probably cost about $2.00 to make. I called KitchenAid as well, they said theyre putting in my case up for review to do the prorated. Its changed. From what Ive heard $1500 doesnt equal $6000 and these parts are not that expensive to obtain. This is absolutely the most hideous thing Ive ever seen a company do. This is the United States. This is a huge corporation. I hope everyone never buys a KitchenAid product again. Why would anyone in their right mind take $1500 for refrigerator thats worth more so we have no choice but to go to outside venues for these parts? Again outrageous, ridiculous and the most disgusting thing a manufacturing company can do. If they’re so willing to cough up the prorated amount why dont they do the right thing and at least split the cost of the part with the consumer if theyre giving them willy nilly numbers of outside companies and not controlling the market. Why would a company offer a 10 year warranty and not the manufacturer? I have purchased KitchenAid products for years. My whole kitchen is full of this top-of-the-line series. I will be slowly changing every single KitchenAid product out of my kitchen and if I am going to spend the money on that type of product itll certainly be Sub-Zero that offers a 12 year warranty from top to bottom on the refrigerators. There are hardly any bad reviews about Sub-Zero. KitchenAids competitors seems like they at least know how to stand behind their consumer. Shame on you KitchenAid. This is disgusting. Oh by the way, the tech Whirlpool factory care that KitchenAid called for me cause if I used someone else, my what little of a piece of junk warranty is left would be void. Charged me $145.00 for call and removal of board and oh by the way I have to have him reinstall the board for another $145.00. Cause warranty on motor and compressor will be voided if I reinstall. Pissed off!!

We have had a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDI01FLBL3) for over six years now. We purchased this dishwasher so we could mount a cabinet panel on the front to match the kitchen cabinets. After just one year, the plastic parts in the door spring assembly broke and the door came crashing down. Customer service told me that the parts would not be under warranty. After several hours of talking to different departments, I finally received the parts at no cost. Less than two years later, the same parts broke again and the door came crashing down. I talked to several technicians at KitchenAid stating that this was a design flaw. They said it was more than likely due to the panel I had installed on the front of the dishwasher being too heavy. I removed it and took it back to the cabinet shop. It was one pound under the recommended weight. I paid $100 to remove another two pounds of wood from it before reinstalling it along with new plastic door parts (which I had to pay for this time). The same parts have broken two more times in the past three years. I have had the cabinet company install removable panels in the cabinets on both sides of the dishwasher for easier access to replace the broken plastic parts. Now, the door latch will not hold the door closed. I called customer service for replacement parts. It was going to be over $100 for parts and shipping! They stated that there was nothing wrong with the original design but they now have redesigned the original parts. This was the same story I got for the plastic door spring assembly parts! Between the door parts, cabinet work and now the latch, Im now going to buy another dishwasher. It will not be a KitchenAid ever!

The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem. They are now available at the consumers expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

I followed the instructions in the manual on self-clean in detail. The mode was set to regular and time given was 3 hrs 30 min. After 1 hr., I heard a loud explosion. The inner glass was shattered. I now await what KitchenAid will do.

I purchased a Refrigerator/Freezer in 2012 for my cottage from a local dealer. Over the last year Ice has built up in the freezer floor and then there is water leakage. I would get rid of the ice build up and then no leakage for a short time and then it would start all over again. In the meantime the floor and side wall of the kitchen which housed the fridge became damaged. I called the dealer and they tried to give some things to do which did not work. Eventually we got the dealer out and they came with a new valve and installed a P trap drain tube. Apparently Whirlpool have known of this problem and never let any of their consumers know.As we are on an Island it cost us a lot of money to get a repairman out to replace this piece. I called Whirlpool and they did not want to discuss it and dissuade they could have sent me a replacement but would not pay for the cost of the work to replace the valve even though they knew for years that there was a problem with this part. I will never again get anything made by Whirlpool.

We got our dishwasher last month (Nov 2019) and now a month later it is not working because it does not close at all. Tech came today (Dec 31 2019) and said he has to order the part before he can fix it, WE have been washing by hand for the last 10 days and will have to continue doing it for 2 weeks more... Very sad... Tech also told me to Find a way to close it so I can use it, I TOLD HIM NO... Because I dont want to waive the warranty. What kind of advice is that? Very Unhappy and unsatisfied with this product. STAY AWAY FROM KITCHENAID PRODUCTS.

So far we have spent over $1400.00 on repairs and again it is not cooling properly. I will never purchase a KitchenAid again. Very disappointed. Model is French door purchased in August of 2013 - KFIS29PBMS. It seems this is a defect in the product if others are having the same issues.

We’ve had our Kitchenaid dishwasher for 5 years. We’ve had to replace many parts (all 4 wheel assemblies on the bottom rack, another part of the top rack (upper dishwasher height adjustment). The parts are plastic, and are poor quality. Look for a better model or brand that uses metal parts. The dishwasher cost around $900, and we’ve spent $250 on replacement parts.

The fridge started leaking at the top. I paid $115 from a repairman to be told this is a known defect for this fridge (air leak at the top). So KitchenAid should offer free repair for anyone who this affects. They are now made differently, so why should I be stuck with a lemon? I am so mad right now, repairing it is out of the question as I was quote $650. Also if this is a known defect, why didnt KitchenAid alert us? I could have saved $115 by not having a repairman out to our house. The solution for this is to turn the water off to our fridge and not having a water or ice maker, which is half the reason we bought the fridge. Stay away from this entire brand. We are also dealing with a Kitchenaid microwave that the whole door has fallen apart, literally, cracking and chipping away and I spent $225 for a new door that should arrive any day.

The oven bakes perfectly even though it takes a while for the oven to reach temperature. The top electric 5 units are wonderful. I love the 3 racks. One has a handle type opening in the front and extends all the way out. The electronic display is easy to read and convert to convection baking or broiling. I havent tried the steam bake option yet, perhaps today when I make cookies. Repair shop recommended not using the auto clean as it heats to 800 degrees. So hello baking soda.

Have put it on a power bar and turn it off when we are not home and at night. Had the controls switched out twice now to no avail as it still happens. Kitchenaid is sending their repair man again (Sears repair twice) and now Kitchenaid repair man twice. Both could not find the problem. We just completed installing a new kitchen, with all new appliances, cabinets, wiring, etc. as of December 2011. On February 4, 2012 while cooking a single potato, we looked at the KitchenAid microwave (Model KHMS2040WBL-1 Serial #TR 1 25 10840) only to discover that it was filled with flames. We pushed the stop button and the flames went out. The instructions screen continued to flash sensing, sensing until I unplugged the device from the outlet. Upon cleaning the microwave oven, we found that the potato was reduced to a small pile of glowing black carbon, the glass turntable was blackened and cracked, the plastic spindle upon which the turntable sits was about 50% burned away, and the paint under where the potato had been sitting was burned down to the raw metal.Reading the instruction booklet, I found that the device is supposed to sense when the food being cooked is giving off steam, and then shut itself off when no further steam is sensed. Obviously, this function failed.I called the KitchenAid customer service line (1800-422-1230) only to be transferred to the Safety Department at Whirlpool, the corporate owners of KitchenAid. After explaining my experience, the representative Timika ** offered to send a repair service to my house. A repair person from A&E came, agreed that there had been a fire and told us not to use the appliance again, because of consumer neglect. What the neglect is a mystery to me. In summary, Whirlpool has refused to cover the damage to the appliance even though it was manufactured in June 2011 and was still under the original warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency and the New York State Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Fraud.I am completely dissatisfied and angry with the Whirlpool response. They seem to want to avoid responsibility for (and resulting recall) a failure of the electronics board in this appliance. I have found the website ** which describes a class action suit over fires in KitchenAid dishwashers, also apparently due to failures in the electronics panel of those appliances.

After using the Kitchenaid Smart Oven Plus powered attachments I found the following flaws: 1)Steamer attachment - Steam will escape and cause the oven to shut down. The only way to reset it is to let the steam completely out and turn off your circuit breaker. Kitchenaid did not design the control panel to be steam proof so you cant use this attachment without issues. They do have the ability to do this but wont respond. 2) Grill - You cannot set the attachment beyond a certain temperature so you cant grill like you can on an outside BBQ. 3) Baking Stone - It is difficult to clean if anything gets stuck on it. Again, your temperature for this attachment is limited so you cant bake a good pizza.4) The temperature is lower than indicated, especially in the lower part of the oven. When the oven reports the temperature to be ready, you need to wait an additional 15 minutes for this to take place. Calibration is a joke.

We purchased a Kitchen Aid counter-depth refrigerator in July 2021. By September it stopped working and has been inoperable since (4 months later). We have had 7 service appointments during this time; each time the technician assured us the issue was repaired but the fridge never got below 76 degrees. We requested a replacement refrigerator several times but were told the warranty would only cover repairs and we were locked into using their repair service provider. I dont know any other business that could take a customers money (almost $2,500) and deprive them of a working product. If I tried their approach with my companys clients, I would be sued or out of business or both. Horrible experience.

We bought a whole suite of KitchenAid large appliances (from Fergusons) for our new home build. We have been very satisfied with the performance of all - UNTIL the dishwasher tore up. It was still under the factory warranty. We called the issue in and there was a local company (American Appliance) that arrived 3 weeks later to repair. They discovered that the heating element of the dishwasher was broken and needed to be replaced. They ordered the part. They said it should arrive in 7-10 business days. After that amount of time, I called to be told that it was on backorder. They didnt have any clue of when the part would be back in stock. Therefore, we started reaching out to KitchenAid directly. We have spent over 6+ hours trying to reach KitchenAid and to speak to their technical department, parts department, warranty group, and finally complaint group. We have been told multiple things - there was a recall on the part (cant confirm that one), the part was out of stock and would not be in stock until after December 30 (totally unacceptable), and that the part was finally now in stock. We were told on July 8 that the part would go out to us on a truck the next day. Apparently that didnt happen. We have been on the phone with KitchenAid complaints again today for over 1.5 hours (more time) to be told that the part has been ordered but has not been pulled and shipped yet and that it would take another 2-3 weeks for that to happen. We made the choice to buy Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) appliances for our new house because they are American made and felt that they would stand behind their products. We are so dissapointed in how this has been handled. We are going to be without our dishwasher for at least 2+ months (and we are a family of 6 people). Our disappointment comes from both the quality of the part but even more importantly the way we have been treated and the repair handled once it tore up. I would not recommend them today. I would be cautious because if you have issues it is not an easy road to travel! Our warranty has not been very effective up to this point.

A little less than three years, we bought a high-end KitchenAid stove at Sears in Sarnia. I cook and bake a lot. I like to use the convection oven as well. However, right from the start, the fan seemed to be kind of noisy. When, after a cleaning cycle, the door did not open, I was very upset. They came out to repair it, and the repairman suggested that I should not clean it on a long weekend. He fixed it and the very bend fan from the convection.Today, remembering the affair, I did all my baking first and did the self cleaning. Once again, the door did not open at the end of the cycle; the front panel is also not lit at all. Paying this much money for an appliance and have such a let down is intolerable. Why is there no recall of such non-functioning appliance? These stoves should be taken back. I need to call them to come out and fix it once again. I have never had such unreliable appliance in all my life and I am certainly not recommending KitchenAid to anyone.

On August 13, 2012 we purchased a French door refrigerator made by Kitchen Aid. 10 months later we were seeing water running down the inside door from the ice maker. I called the company and they sent out technician to fix it who didnt seem like he knew what he was doing. He made several phone calls to ask questions about the repair. After he left my refrigerator was working properly so I was satisfied. Meanwhile, my neighbors were looking to get a new refrigerator and loved the look of mine so they purchased the same model. Months later my neighbor called me complaining of water leaking from her ice maker. They had to have it repaired but then a couple months later she told me their freezer stopped working and they lost hundreds of dollars of food. She called Kitchen Aid to come repair it for a second time. My husband and I went on vacation and we returned home to find our freezer stopped working while we were gone and lost all of our food. When I called Kitchen Aid they informed me I was two months past my warranty and since I didnt buy an extended warranty (which I didnt think I would need to on a fridge that cost almost $3000.00) there was nothing they could do. It could be repaired but at my cost. After a very heated discussion and much screaming on my end about their inferior product I got them to agree to fix it at their cost. I am sitting here now while a repairman is here and he is running dye through the lines to find the problem. He has informed me that it will be at least a couple of weeks until this is fixed. Meanwhile I have no working freezer and have a family to feed. I called Kitchen Aid again to see if they could do something and the womans response was there was nothing they could do and she actually suggested that I leave food in a friends freezer! I googled complaints against Kitchen Aid and was shocked to say the least. It seems they are known for these problems and customer service is not their strong suit. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance again and will tell everyone who will listen about my experience.

While at my parents house they described a plastic odor from their Kitchen Aid Convection oven when the oven is used (all electric). I turned the power off inspected the connections on the outlet for the oven and also the connections to the oven itself. All are tight and no signs of heating up etc. I plugged everything back in and we turned it on, nothing at first but after about 3-5 minutes you could smell an odor from the upper portion of the unit. Again turned everything off, opened up the back panel and there it was, the oven control board had a larger connector which feeds power to the oven elements and it was melted to the board. I removed the board for replacement. A local company near us (Servall) had a heck of a time finding this part and the connector as well, the board is manufactured by Eletrolux but is in the Kitchen Aid. As of now, the cooktop just works but no displays since the oven control board also controls the displays. I am a master electrician with in-depth knowledge of controls, there has to be something wrong with the board from Electrolux which has been causing all the headaches for all these customers. I am not sure if the self cleaning function has been used but will recommend that it not be used unless someone is there and they want a possible fire. What a shame and shame on Kitchen Aid for not doing something for all these people who have paid in excess of $1000.00 for a heater. Buy another brand and let other know about it as well, Electrolux is a large company or brand that is well known in Europe for its quality, too bad Kitchen Aid botched this one up. KitchenAid Refrigerator KSSC48QMS01 - Do not buy this refrigerator. We bought a home with a beautiful custom kitchen with this KitchenAid refrigerator and its just given us grief. Thank goodness we bought an insurance package to cover appliance repair. After three different repairmen and waiting weeks for parts to arrive, we found out most parts were not the right ones. Finally we got a Sr. tech guy to assess what was going on and we had to have the mother board sent out to be re-done. Well that seemed to do the trick, but 8 months later we are having issues again. Our insurance carrier would NOT insure the refrigerator. We ended up buying insurance from another carrier which should have told us something. We have rented a refrigerator while new parts are being ordered. We have lost several full freezer and refrigerator loads of food. No fun. I have no confidence with this unit ever being repaired. Its built into its own lacquer custom cabinet. Ugh. We now have another rental refrigerator sitting outside on our patio as we wait two weeks for parts. Would I buy a KitchenAid unit again. Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

I bought this KitchenAid dishwasher thinking maybe it would last more than 6 or 7 years like the other brands Ive had. This one actually needed a repair before it hit the 4 year mark! Needed a new computer - of course the part was under warranty (five year) but the service call and labor were not. Spent $155.00 to have the part replaced. I also had to replace the upper rack after approx. 1 1/2 years. Ive had cheaper brands that have lasted longer without repair so next time I know better - Ill stick to the lower end brands as there seems to be no difference in the quality anymore. Disappointed!!!

We purchased our new KitchenAid oven in July 2010. We finally moved into our new home in May 2011. It is now early 2014 and the ovens blue enamel lining is peeling and chipping and the racks have rusted. I contacted Lowes where we purchased the appliance and the extended warranty. A repair man was sent. Upon looking at the oven, he called KitchenAid and told them that the oven was not only chipped in many areas, but that those areas were beginning to rust. KitchenAid would do nothing, stating it was a cosmetic problem. Same with the warranty company. After further research, I have discovered I am not the only one with this complaint. Do not buy their products, they do not stand behind them and will not return phone calls. KitchenAid is a rip off and my $2,700.00 KitchenAid mistake makes me sick.

I’ve had the cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave for three years. THREE YEARS!!! The refrigerator stopped cooling. The next day the freezer stopped freezing. We waited five weeks for the one and only repair company in our area, Guinco, to come out. Was told that a part, which was no longer under warranty $507, had malfunctioned. Waited another four weeks for the part to come in. When the part arrived they put it on and then discovered the condenser, which thankfully is under warranty, $1,000+, was no good. So now we’re having to wait another six weeks for the new condenser. Practically four months. That is totally absurd. Why they feel only one company in my state is authorized to work on these substandard appliances, I don’t know. Luckily we have an older refrigerator in the garage. My husband went out and bought a portable ice maker, also. I read on the website that Kitchenaid/Whirlpool products can last between 15-17 years. If that’s the case for the “few” products that do not last longer than three years, it should be an automatic replacement. That would be excellent customer service. Do not buy this product. Run, do not pass. Go as far away from this cheap as heck product. The product “looks” fabulous but it’s all a delusion. Again, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS CRAP PRODUCT.

One week after purchasing a new KitchenAid fridge, it began spitting ice all over the floor randomly. We had to put it in vacation mode every time we left the house otherwise we risked wrecking out expensive hardwood floor. After about a month, the part arrived (they replaced the main CPU) it was repaired. That lasted about 4 months then it began randomly puking ice on to the floor again. They sent out another CPU and the front screen and said that would fix it. In the meantime, the ice dispenser stopped working as well as the main freezer compartment. We lost all of the meat in our freezer (roughly $1000 worth). Our fridge has been down for almost 2 months now and now they tell us the fridge has to be gutted. It has a system seal leak which cannot be fixed on site. Our fridge will be sent out for repair and we will be without a fridge for 4-6 weeks. They offered $100 for us to purchase a small fridge to get us by! What a crock. This fridge has been problematic from day one and now after all of the repairs they still cant explain why the fridge continues to discharge ice randomly or how/if it can be fixed! DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID fridge!

Nice arrangement of racks and silverware holders. It fairly quiet but not silent for sure. Purchased in about 2002. Only complaint is that the dishwasher sometimes leaks. Had a plumber here a bunch of times and Ive arranged dishes differently a bunch of times and neither the plumber nor I can figure whats causing the leak so I mop up with towels when it happens.

Fridge purchased May 2015. Lid for cheese drawer kept falling off whenever opened and puddle kept forming on floor below bottom freezer. New cheese drawer lid ordered, still didnt fit properly so technician had to shim the sides and now there is a gap on either side where debris could collect and cant be cleaned out. Door on bottom freezer deemed to be warped causing it not to seal properly, thus huge frost accumulation on inside of freezer and bouts of thawing causes puddles on floor in front. Waited 2 months for a new freezer door, arrived and when technician went to install found it also was warped. Now have to wait another 2 months for a second try. Whole unit is substandard. I asked for a replacement fridge. Of course, they refuse but they are happy to keep making repairs. I am not happy to have to make myself available for repeated visits by technician for a problem that remains unfixed.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and because our old appliances were KitchenAid and we were happy with them we decided to go with the brand again. Such a mistake. Within a few months the finishes on the fridge and the dishwasher are discolored, spotty, and there is rust showing through on the fridge door in multiple places. The handle on the freezer door wont stay tight. The self cleaning oven is a joke. These are overpriced, poor quality appliances. We bought an extended warranty which is no help for these issues. In spite of the fact that I was calm and factual with the resolution specialist was sarcastic and condescending. We have a KitchenAid KHMC1857WSS--0. We purchased it on 1-29-10; it was delivered on 2-14-10. It first quit working last 12-29-10. I was using the Convect Roast, auto mode, pizza, when it went out very near the end of the cook time; about 15 minutes into the cycle, it blew the fuse. We called and they scheduled service for 1-3-11. They replaced the fuse and said it worked. On 1-18-11, it broke down again in the same mode. Service was scheduled for 1-20-11. They replaced the fuse and some other part, and they offered to extend the service warranty for one year. Good thing, cause it broke again and was serviced on 2-3-11. I asked for a replacement microwave; they dont want to do it, saying that it is more than a year old and is not covered. It broke again and was serviced on 3-7-11. After much complaining, they agree to offer us a microwave replacement for $300. The new microwave was installed on 3-30-11. For some reason, I thought this would fix our problem. But we have the exact same problem on our new microwave. It was first serviced on 10-5-11. They came back on the 13th to put in the new parts, and the service man declared it fixed. I ask that he run it in the pizza mode before he leaves. Guess what, it blows the fuse again. He called it in, and they want to put in another new part.I am fed up. I want a microwave that works. I paid about $1000 for a new one and then paid $300 for a replacement, and I still have junk. The only offer from KA is to continue to service it. I want my money back for the replacement and a microwave that works for more than a month without breaking. KitchenAid will not stand behind their product and has done nothing but steal money from me.

KitchenAid freestanding induction range model KIRS608bss, purchased new, 4/12/13 3 months later the oven stopped working. I bake a lot so I knew when my baked products were taking 20 minutes longer than normal. I called for service and the first 2 times the tech literally said that all oven temperatures vary, this is to be expected! By the 3 call my oven started blinking message across the stovetop panel. They finally replace the computer system and told me I no longer had a warranty. At this point my range was 4 months old.. This same model although the oven is working the cleaning part is not. I have tried multiple time but the water does not get hot enough or steam long enough to clean the oven. To make matters worse, the front glass panel has so many grease stains in between the two glass panels that Im embarrassed to have people in my kitchen as it appears I have never cleaned the glass.. I was told the only way it can be cleaned is to remove the screws and bolts inside, clean the inside of the panels then replace. The technician also said its a waste of time as those streaks will come back the first time you use your oven and each time you remove the screws the tightness of the door panel loosens and heat will escape..

To date, all but one set of rack roller parts have been replaced under warranty, and the problem with the jammed motor/pump was also fixed under warranty. HOWEVER - the repeated breaking of the rack rollers in an ongoing and unacceptable problem. Despite the evidence, KitchenAid customer service claims there is no known issue with these parts. I am writing this review to help others avoid getting into the situation I was in with the purchase of the KitchenAid KFGG500ESS gas range. I ignored reviews which warned of the same problems I ended up having so I thought Id confirm that I think there is a problem. Buyer beware! I had to have service out immediately because the oven was not true to temperature even after calibrating it up 30 degrees. I ruined several meals because they just wouldnt cook thoroughly and finally gave up trying. Also, the control panel was extremely difficult to press and hurt my fingers. I ended up using the back of a spoon to press the buttons which seemed like a ridiculous way to have to use a brand new appliance. It took the service company two weeks to order the parts and get the tech to come out - all that time without the use of the brand new oven. The range needed a new control board and temperature sensor which didnt fix the problem to my satisfaction. The oven still baked unevenly and the control panel was still difficult to use.The biggest problem was that the stainless steel panel behind the knobs got extremely hot and when you touched it or brushed by it, you could get burned which is very dangerous especially for small children. I was told by the service tech that KitchenAid told him that is just the way it is and there is no way to fix that issue. He said that KitchenAid tests the products before they are sent out and they are up to standards. I do not want to have a stove in my house that will burn someone if they touch it (along with the other problems with the stove that were not resolved) so the store I purchased it from agreed to exchange it for another range. In the end (2 months after my initial purchase of the KitchenAid) I got a Bosch range installed and it works beautifully and is perfect in every way. Unfortunately, I was told by the assistant manager of the the big box store that the KitchenAid I returned was put back on the floor at a discount to try to sell to someone else! Shame on them!

In our fairly advanced years, my wife and I Splurged on a KitchenAid Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Gas stove, Warming drawer and a lot of other matching KitchenAid appliances and tools to complement our new kitchen. While a bit above our financial means, we purchased these based on KitchenAids reportedly High End quality and reputation with the expectation they would very likely outlast us. The stove, while being a self cleaning model, quickly experienced a failed control panel and we were summarily told that we cleaned our oven too often and the ovens heat fried the high tech front panel electronics. It’s fairly common. ARE THEY KIDDING? OVENS ACTUALLY PRODUCE HEAT? Whod O Thought! Then, our Top of the line Dishwasher went to scrap metal Heaven due to its being used too much... Water steam vapor damaged the doors inside control panel. Hmmm... As we have always done, we do our dishes every day as we strangely appreciate cleanliness and a healthy environment in our home which is evidently contrary to KitchenAid’s philosophy of product serviceability and durability standards. I think I get the part where an appliance would necessarily last longer if its not used, thats pretty simple even for me. What I just can’t seem to grasp though is how KitchenAid obtained its reputation for high end quality (as in durability) if their products require virtual non use to maintain any semblance of usability. Are They Kidding? Seriously? And as for the very expensive KitchenAid refrigerator we ordered direct from the factory? It was missing a plastic grill like air disperser part that subsequently caused a complete failure of the entire refrigerator and freezer shortly after the warranty expired. WooHooo... Im so happy, I wish I could say what I really think about KitchenAid and their products but the NSA would lock me up forever. KitchenAid obviously has their piece of the Corporate American Pie. Unfortunately, by most of the comments Ive read, it seems that consumer dissatisfaction will continue to be an ongoing experience for and at the expense of a growing number of very angry KitchenAid customers. Until that is, enough consumers educate themselves en-mass and RE-RATE KitchenAid products to accurately reflect the extremely poor quality and reputation they deserve. Seriously KitchenAid. ARE YOU KIDDING?

We bought all new appliances 4 years ago. The salesman at the appliance store said KitchenAid was the best. Well apparently he must get a kickback from them because nothing could be further from the truth. In fact the KF1S29BBMS00 french door refrigerator actually sucks! Shortly after we had it the freezer stopped freezing. At least this was covered by a recall. Now, the unit is 4 years old, the ice maker stops working. We called the repair place and they came out and very cavalierly said, Oh yeah there is a service bulletin on this. You need an add on kit to stop the unit from freezing up.OK to my thinking service bulletin is an admission of wrongdoing. Poor design in the first place. So since the unit is out of warranty and we chose not to pay for a ripoff extended warranty we have to pay over $430 to fix what was not designed right in the first place! How can this be our fault? Why would we need a warranty to cover a design flaw? Now while waiting for the repair person to come back with the part that they had to order the drawer in the freezer will not freeze. The lower main compartment is fine but the door will not freeze. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID APPLIANCE. Their poor design and engineering becomes your problem.

Was not marketed as such - was sold to me as an installed piece with a matching trim kit. I was told that I would just need to purchase another microwave given that Im out of warranty. The new model (KUDC10FXWH) I purchased in May 2011 and cost $940 including installation, warranty and tax is a big disappointment. So far, the repairman has been out 3 times. The last diagnosis was a control panel malfunction, which causes the dishwasher to shut itself off. It is almost useless to me because I have to run a cycle twice and/or a separate rinse to be sure the dishes are clean. Mostly, I have reverted to washing dishes by hand to save water and frustration. So far, I have not had to pay anything out of pocket due to the regular warranty.
