Today I contacted Samsung support via live chat, describing the common SE error, to inquire about service for my SMH9207 microwave purchased in Dec. 2010. Many postings, including several on consumeraffairs.com indicate Samsung is aware of this common issue with their microwaves and in some cases has repaired out of warranty microwaves. The representative I chatted with, George **, indicated Certain models had a known issue which we have addressed. These are the only ones that are being covered outside of the warranty term. I was give the web form to fill out a service request. Its obvious Samsung makes good phones, not microwaves, and they dont always stand behind a product. I was very disappointed as I had purchased many Samsung products over the years (phones, TVs, etc.) finding them reliable but, I never had to put the company to the test until $335 microwave stopped working. At this point, I will never buy a Samsung product again because I know if their is a fluke, or defect in their usually decent products, the company will not stand behind the product, and will cite the warranty which is in line with industry and isnt good (1 yr.). I am so upset, Im spending for a microwave of another brand rather than buying the Samsung control board and servicing. Do not buy a Samsung appliance if you want reliability and company that stands behind the product.

Microwave just over 2 years old model SMH8165ST. I got the SEcode. I took it apart, cleaned all the terminals. Now the touch pad doesnt work. I called Samsung, got a guy on the phone, who was very bad with English. I tried to explain the problem to him. He couldnt understand me. Im very frustrated. I seen all these negative reviews on the Samsung microwaves. The bottom line is Samsung microwaves are JUNK!!!!

Price was over $300.00 and this appears to be a very common issue at around the 18th month of usage mark per the complaints online I have read. Of course, I called the company and they state, Too bad, it is out of warranty (12 months). The company needs to look at the business they are losing over what could be a small fix. I will no longer purchase any Samsung products. I was a dedicated Samsung customer because the quality was there in the past. In this economy, you would think that a company would value the customers they have and when they see a defect like this, they should address it, not just brush it off. Samsung needs to look at Tylenol for an example of going above and beyond for its customers. So with that said, I have a $350 microwave that lasted less than 2.5 years so maybe I will just purchase a cheap microwave every year. At least, I will get a new one each year and may be more cost effective,

We purchased our Samsung Stainless Steel Over the Range Microwave from Best Buy in March 2010. 17 months later, the microwave has stopped heating completely and is not under warranty. So frustrating. We had to get our 15-year old small countertop microwave out of the garage to use until we decide what other expensive brand we want to waste our money on. To invest in nice appliances is a joke and there should be a class action lawsuit.

I purchased this microwave from Home Depot in Squamish BC, and have not stopped regretting it after numerous and non-stop issues. The power level button has never worked, the magnetron broke, the machine ran continuously without shutting off, it displayed multiple error codes. The sensor pad, key pad and magnetron (everything but the fan and light) were all replaced within the 1st year, costing much more than replacing it and the same issues are still happening now just outside of warranty. I was told I could purchase a extended warranty any time within the 1st year and was not able to after many attempts. After much complaining and pressure, Home Depot did advocate for me to get a new replacement unit but was not successful. This horrible experience could have been far less stressful if not for the inflexible and unreasonable policy of Samsung. The many agents I spoke with were polite and understanding but completely unable to provide reasonable customer service due to the strict, wasteful and outrageous Samsung repair rules policies and guidelines. I am awaiting to hear back from them after another phone call but based on the last year of my experience with this appliance, am not holding my breath. I hope this review saves someone else from this very frustrating experience. There are hundreds of videos on youtube and complaints highlighting the same issues we have had with our machine. These appliances seem to be consistent lemons.

As everyone on this site has the same problems with Samsung refrigerator. I bought it January 2016 and less than 3 months had to have the computer board replaced. It did not make a difference. The whole bottom of the refrigerator freezes and has to be defrosted if you want to open it and it will stop making ice. There is a light that comes on to tell me to change the water filter, but it does not have one. For the last month it puts water under the draws and freezes. It is out of warranty now. It still is not paid for. After reading all the reviews I realize I need a new refrigerator, while still having to pay off this one. The store HH Gregg is no longer in business. The microwave does not work properly, just plain junk. I do not know why this company is allowed to sell products in the U.S. They are just stealing our money and getting away with it. How could they not be compelled to have a recall on these refrigerators. Keep me informed of any action with this company, please.

Had an error code SE on my (almost) 4 year old microwave. After reading about all the issues about this with other Samsung microwave that the code pertains to a bad touch pad, I decided to contact Samsung and see if they take responsibility for this. I contacted Samsung this morning and after less than 10 mins, an appointment was made to have a technician come out to my home and replace the pad under Samsung extended warranty on the pad. The only thing Samsung noted to me is that if its not the pad, I would have to pay for the cost of any repairs. I keep my fingers crossed that an honest technician will come out to do this repair. So, bottom line is that Samsung realizes that there is a problem with these pads with this SE error code and extended the warranty to have them replaced.

I purchased my microwave on 9 Nov. 2015. Firstly, the delivery was so late I got it around 29 and on 7 of March 2016 it stopped working. I called on the service station, the person who was dealing said that you dont have to pay visiting charges but yes if something will be changed inside you will have to pay extra charges. Can anybody help me by telling the diff. between warranty and guarantee. He said that Samsung people are giving warranty, not guarantee.

Purchased Samsung refrigerator and microwave when we remodeled the kitchen
Purchased Samsung refrigerator and microwave when we remodeled the kitchen in 2010. The microwave died last summer (2013) and we replaced with another brand. Thats another story. THIS story is about the above listed refrigerator. Beginning in Sept. of 2013 we have contacted Samsung customer service 6 times about our fridge leaking water into the (right) vegetable drawer and under the drawers and freezing. 2 problems - the leak and, why is the water freezing when the fridge is set at 38 degrees? Freezing all veggies in the drawer.Service has to come from Cleveland as no company in the Akron area will touch Samsung appliances. That should have been our first clue! The last service call was 3/04/14 and yesterday, 3/08/14, we had more frozen water in and under the veggies drawers.Customer service persons have been very gracious and helpful. The repairmen that have come here have been courteous and have tried to help. But the definition of futility is doing the same thing over and over and over again, expecting different results. We have had the coils on the back wall replaced 3 times and thawed each time and the drain blown and, guess what? Same results. Were very, very tired of this problem. We have thrown out more food thats been ruined by sitting in ice water and its getting expensive. We have told everyone and anyone who will listen NOT to buy Samsung appliances as they are definitely inferior products. Just wish they would replace this defective appliance or compensate us monetarily in order that we can purchase a refrigerator that will work. Any suggestions anyone?

We bought the Samsung over-the-counter microwave brand new in 2010. It worked very well and looked great. But it hasnt even lasted FIVE YEARS. 6 months ago the door latch broke; we repaired it ourselves with $75+ in parts. A month ago this started happening: when we open the microwave door, the unit turns ON and runs; only way to not cook my hand is to unplug it. Its headed to the recycle bin. There is no excuse for a product this expensive (retail $349 at Lowes) to last less than 5 years. No warranty that long is available. Will not *ever* look at Samsung brand for kitchen appliances again.

Bought this from SEARS just before Christmas around December 22 of 2010 to match the Samsung Stove that I bought for the new home that we had just moved into. Looked great and I was very pleased until it stopped working on Jan. 4th of 2012 (approximately). Throwing the error code SE and unplugging it and re-plugging it back in would allow it to work for maybe 5 minutes. I was so upset when I called Sears and they wouldnt even entertain the idea of coming out to service it unless I wanted to pay for the service call and whatever the problem was to fix. I realize that there is only a 1-year warranty on the microwave, but come on! It stopped working 2 weeks past the 1-year warranty end. Whatever happened to standing by what you sell? Its a shame that most of these products are made overseas and so cheaply and then sold for way more than they are worth. Its obvious to me that Samsung products are pretty much pieces of crap that arent even worth looking at. I encourage anyone considering one of their products to think twice. I am a very unhappy consumer and will tell everyone that I know to not even consider any product manufactured by Samsung. Yes, I could have purchased an extended warranty but come on people, 54 weeks an appliance works before breaking down and needing repair? That is absolutely absurd. I pretty much told Sears that they lost a customer and anyone else that I knew too. No wonder they are going out of business! They have terrible customer service and dont give a damn about the consumer. I had an independent service company come out to take a look, who, by the way did not charge me for the service call, as I had explained the situation to them. He checked it out and told me the motherboard would have to be replaced and that it would cost almost as much as I paid for the microwave in the first place. How disappointing that I have been sitting here with a microwave for the past 2 years that doesnt work because I dont exactly have the luxury of being able to just go out and purchase a new one every year or two. Im furious at Samsung for manufacturing such a substandard product and then knowing that it has problems, refused to do any kind of recall or offer to repair at no charge and also SEARS for being so not standing behind what they sell. Cheap labor = cheap materials = cheap products. Truly disgusting!

2005 Samsung microwave -SE- on display. Microwave high end that has an auto cook for types of food. I saw the post about the sensor and read others online for only 10 min. Said it was a humidity sensor that was shorted inside microwave, not a panel. My microwave was totally unusable. No buttons worked and unplugging power had no effect. I am fairly good at fixing things. And it said that you had to replace sensor. But after about five min., I remembered what I last cooked. I cooked corn. I bet that sensor is dirty. Inside on the ceiling of the microwave is a small 1/4 inch hole that the sensor fits. I sprayed it with aerosol isopropyl alcohol. Instant! : 0 on display, the -SE- was gone. The sensor was dirty and caused the microwave to lockup. I did not use but can suggest maybe a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol. A spray worked for me. My microwave is working. Thanks for the info on this site. It helped. Lot of work saved.

After many calls to Samsung, they said they would fix it if it was the SE problem again but we would need to pay the technician if it was anything else. Ive been without a microwave for over 3 months trying to resolve this. Is there a class action suit filed yet?

Purchased all new kitchen appliances with the microwave being one of the Samsung products. The original one we ordered they had to swap out with another unit due to they could not sell the original anymore. We were having multiple error codes, and they sent a service Contractor out under a warranty call, and they assumed it was the motherboard, which they replaced. Well that didnt work, in fact it was worse. Called for them to come out and repair it under the warranty. Seeing the 1st time did not work, so they sent out a service Contractor who replaced the door. In fact it was even worse with the microwave shutting down when cooking and still having error codes. Called Samsung backed and had to argue with them to send someone out to fix the microwave due to it was still not repaired from original warranty so called repair. They agreed after talking to a supervisor and they sent a service Contractor out, where he looked on a website and it showed an issue with the fan. They replaced the fan, but a week later the unit was still having the same problems with the same error codes and an additional new error code. Called Samsung again and they were going to do an accommodation, which in essence is an exchange. I had to send copies of the purchases that Lowes sent me, and waited for answers as usual, so I called back and said that because it was out of warranty they werent going to do an accommodation. Because they didnt fix the microwave from the initial warranty repair, and the delay game, and do not stand behind the product, I am stuck with a defective unit. I would stay away from Samsung kitchen appliances, and glad we didnt purchase all of our appliances with Samsung.

I just moved into a new house late last year and it had a fairly new Samsung Over-the-Range Microwave Oven installed. This was working fine for the last few months until one day, it started giving us an SE error on the display and none of the other buttons would work. Initially, this would go off on its own but would then come back and until one day, it came back and just wouldnt go off. We browsed the internet and found that there was a whole sea of people that have reported this issue and turns out that it is a quite common problem. The microwave has just passed its warranty and Samsung now expects us to pay for the service and parts if they fix it. Considering this is a common problem faced by so many people, I think they should do a recall and get these fixed for everyone. The model I have is SMH9207ST. I would not recommend anyone buying these Over-the-Range microwaves from Samsung.

Based on the Consumer Reports review (microwave has since been dropped from their recommended list), I purchased the SMH9187ST. It worked great for 13 months then died with the dreaded SE error. I tried resetting the control module and worked for another week. I contacted Samsung and they acted like I was crazy. But thanks to kind folks in this forum, I went to repairclinic.com and purchased the replacement model item #2024600 and part #DE94-01999C for $70. I got it in a week and took all of 5 minutes to replace. I will restate the procedure: 1. Unscrew the 2 top vent screws and slide to the left. 2. Take out the top control module screw and gently remove, watching out for the tabs on the bottom. 3. There are 6 wiring connections that pull away very easily. Mark them if you need to.4. Put everything back and youre done. Working great! So far. This was way easier than I thought. Also, I contacted Consumer Reports and they provided info for filing formal complaints with various agencies. But they must be listening because Samsung is no longer in their OTR recommended list.

Called Samsung, had to call three different numbers as they cannot transfer, phone technology?? Samsung was not impressed their unit caught fire and really did not care. Said they would sent tech in 2-3 days. UNACCEPTABLE.Basically they hung up on me after I requested someone come out on Monday to remove. Do you think if this happened to the GM at Samsung they would have treated it as routine maintenance? It is now 2 hours after Samsung was supposed to be here and no word yet. We wanted an additional oven to supplement our regular oven; this Samsung fit the bill because it's a convection oven that can roast and even grill meats such as chicken that can sometimes be hard to cook thoroughly without the meat becoming too dry or tough. At 1.1 cu ft it might be a tight fit for Perdue Oven Stuffer chicken or anything larger, otherwise it does its job well. I tried the live chat and was able to get the representative who had heard about this issue multiple times and stated:The control panel will be replaced free of charge as part of the warranty. In the event that the control box requires replacement, the issue cant be recreated during the service visit or the issue is determined to be anything other than the SE error code, it will be an out-of-warranty repair and you will be responsible for any costs. Do you consent to these terms?I replied, I purchased this in 2010 so I am sure it is out the warranty time frame. I have been looking this issue up on the internet and there are many complaints about this issue and Samsung has been willing to make this repairs even if it is out the warranty. Yes, that is correct, the issue will be repaired as per the above consent. Well we will see what happens and hopefully Samsung will step up and make the necessary repairs.

I called Samsung and got the traditional response, We can set up a maintenance appointment which will cost you ... No thanks, I would love to be part of a class action. This does seem senseless since they have been aware of this problem. The fix is about as much as the microwave. Ugh!

We redid our kitchen at the beginning of last year and installed a Samsung microwave, model ME18H704SFS. After 8 months, the overhead light started coming on by itself. Not the high, but the low. I am not the first homeowner to complain about this very problem. It would seem this microwave has well-known issues and Samsung has not recalled the product. I guess Samsung can stand to have poor public relations. I will never purchase another Samsung product. Glenn **Belmont MA

I purchased all new appliances for my kitchen about 5 years ago and chose Samsung. That was a huge mistake. I had to replace the microwave after about 3 years. The refrigerator is now the thorn in my side. About every 60 to 90 days I am having to turn it off and completely defrost it due to freezing around the fan. This has been a horrible experience and I will never buy another Samsung appliance. Reading all the reviews online it appears this is a huge problem nationwide. There should be a recall on all of these refrigerators. I am very unhappy customer.

I got the SE code on the Samsung microwave and after reading the complaints here, I called Sears where we got it and had a tech come out. We were able to keep using it until then by holding the stop/clear and start/enter button. Then I got to the point where Id take off the panel and move the wires and it would work again. Also, using the timer/clock seemed to be the issue. Anyhow, Sears came out for $75 to tell me what I already knew (needed new key pad/control box) and it would be a total of $200 for them to repair it (its only a $200 microwave). But he did tell me how to replace it. I tried to get the part from Samsung and they wouldnt as it was just out of warranty (so dont waste your time trying). JJ Parts in NJ is the part dealer for Samsung. I called and got the part with shipping for $70. Installation was super easy: two screws on the top of the unit on the vent grill and then slide it out. Then there is one screw at the top of the control panel. Open the door and lift the control panel up and it comes right off. Then there are a few ribbon cables to take off and it is clearly marked when you need to install them on the new keypad. Someone noted never work on a microwave due to it holding onto a charge - yes, that is true, but youd have to go way into the machine. Unplug the unit obviously before doing this repair, but I cant see how youd possibly run into any issues with this super easy repair.

We havent gotten any error message yet but the lights & nightlight will turn on and off by themselves at all times during the day and night. Weve been unplugging it, worried about a possible fire. So much for convenience. Im not paying to repair this piece of crap. I feel bad for my husband who is going to need to install a new one... that isnt a Samsung.

Pull out it and look at water lines check, etc. Two weeks later my 6 month old Samsung Microwave starts going off and on turns fan on when Im out of the room and is flashing error signs. Call Samsung, set up appointment for the microwave. They say they will check out the fridge, why they are here. Get a call from service repair next day saying fridge out of warranty. It was made in May 2013 and out of warranty in July 2014! When does a warranty start from a manufacture start at manufacture date, and not the date sold? I am highly frustrated generally over the above company name products. Now heres why: I am a big fan of the Samsung brand, my wife is also too. 99% of all our electronics products are all Samsung products. From cell phones to TVs, tablet, microwave etc, etc. You name it. Here are some CAUSES: I have 4 TVs, in my home I bought, all Samsung products. First time my wife TV went bad, you can hear the audio from the TV but no picture. I called Samsung customer service to explain my situation. On several occasions, I got hung up on. I tried and kept fighting till I finally got someone to talk to about the problem. My sorryful appeal was heard and the problem was resolved. Couple of month later again, Im having the same problem with another TV. Called Samsung, again, it was another fight. Finally, I was told it was a software issue and I needed to buy flash drive and download the new version. I insisted not to spend money over some so-called software so they downloaded the new version and mail it out to me. I then uploaded it to the TV but did not solve the problem either. To date, I still have the TV and planning to trash it. I also have a 10.1 Samsung galaxy 4, that is giving me problems. I took it back to Best Buy, and they kept it for two weeks fixing it. To date, I still have the tablet with the same problem. Now, its my microwave. WHAT IS WRONG WITH SAMSUNGS MODERN DAYS PRODUCT? They will go OFF on you right after their warranties. Im frustrated big time over Samsung modern day products.

Microwave broke under warranty (4 months old). Called Samsung and they dispatched local appliance technicians. The local technicians indicated they cannot repair the microwave and requested the microwave be replaced. The Samsung customer service center responded they will not replace the microwave. Samsungs response is to keep sending replacement parts to try. In some cases Samsung has sent the same part twice. At this point my microwave has been under repair for 6+ weeks and no resolution. Samsung has absolutely terrible respect for their clients or the advice of the service technicians. Even if repaired I worry about the safety of the product post repair as I have seen reports on this site of Samsung microwaves catching fire. Terrible service from Samsung in respecting their product warranty. Do yourself a favor and purchase another brand of appliance.

It has a turn knob which is easy to function and does its thing until the time is up for it to stop. I got back issues and it is just right for someone like me and easy to do in one shot. Bought a Samsung microwave almost two years ago, and this is the second time we’ve had a major repair. Just before the warranty expired, the fan went out. It was challenging to get Samsung to agree the repair was covered and then to schedule the repair. Now the magnetron tube and couple other parts need to be replaced, parts and labor costing around $275. I’m debating whether to sink more money into this thing. When it works, it’s great, but with this record of repairs, I’m hesitant to invest more $$.

I send pictures of the damage and was told it was cosmetic damage and the tech also told me it was the same. I followed up with a phone call and talked with several representatives and was told that their only solution was to apply metal paint. I voiced my concerns, since there was no explanation as to how this could happen. I was told about warranty and installation, but nothing to do with as it relates to a safety issues. I did go on record that I was concerned about my and my family safety, to continue to use a microwave that has overheated.

I have purchased this product (AR24HV5NBWKNNA) from Samsung Dealer in May 2014 and from the date of purchase Im not satisfied with the product. Installation of A/C was not proper as it took 12 hours by your engineer. Then in next year 2015 the A/C was not performing and called Samsung and executive visited and directly filled gas in warranty without inspecting the reason of leakage, and gradually after 3 months again cooling decreased. Also water leakage from indoor unit started immediately after refilling and now in current season when unit was started there was no cooling and when engineer visited on 1st call he immediately order a gas refilling without inspecting the reason for leakage. And so the second complaint was lodged and then that engineer inspected the actual reason for regular gas leakage i.e. leakage found in cooling coil which was the only reason for 1st time non cooling, which should have been searched and rectified in 2015 when the gas was refilled the first time. We were given an only option to replace to new cooling coil at our cost whereas I feel problem shouldnt have arised in the 1st year of purchase which I feel was not expected from the world leader brand like Samsung. Right now I and my Family uses Samsung brand TV, AC, refrigerator, phones, washing machine, microwave. Also further we have to install new units at my Factory and 2 Houses but now after experiencing such problem within a year I feel I should rethink over that. Also during water leakage from indoor unit my Indoor Wooden cabinet along with printer and mobiles were damaged. If you wish to see the leakage I have shot a video of it. Also, a suggestion. This kind of malfunction directly hits your Brand Reputation that how Samsung deals with its product Malfunctioning. I strongly request you to please look into this matter on priority as the season has started and there is a need to run the Air Conditioner. So replace the defective part or replace the whole unit.

I bought a Samsung Over-The-Range Microwave from Lowes in February 2010. I just found out I need the keypad replaced. The warranty ran out in February. I called Samsung and they said there is nothing they can do because the warranty has expired. They have already been out once while the microwave was still under warranty. The cost of the repair is about $260. I tried to explain to them that even though the microwave is no longer under warranty, I would think a $400 microwave would last longer than 18 months. She said I am eligible for a new one if they have to fix the same issue twice within a year. That doesnt really matter to me since I would have to pay to have it fixed twice. She didnt understand this concept and could not get past the fact that the warranty had expired. Now I have 2 options: get it fixed or buy a new one. I would just like for a company for once to stand behind their product. I dont think an 18 month life expectancy is what they had in mind. Especially since the last cheap microwave I had lasted 15 years without incident.

My Samsung Microwave was getting old and stopped working. It just wouldnt start up. A few hours later I heard an explosion in the kitchen. It was on fire. I could not extinguish it until I thought to unplug it and pour water on top of the flames through the ventilation grates on the top. The cabinet above the microwave had just started to burn so Im sure that there would have been a serious fire had I not been at home. Later I read about popping noises being a warning sign that something is wrong and I did hear a few pops before it stopped working. Please unplug your microwave if you hear popping and call the company or a repairman. I wish I had known that the popping is a sign that my microwave was in serious trouble. We purchased a Samsung OTR microwave model SMH9187W (from Sears) in June 2011 and it was installed in July by Sears. I returned from a 3-week trip in mid-August and found the microwave door ajar and the light on. The latch hooks on the door had no tension and could not keep the door closed. Everything seemed in working order when I hand held the door shut. I called Sears and they said, Sorry, youre one month out of warranty. For $75.00, well send a serviceman out, but youll have to pay for parts and labor in addition to that. However, they offered a deal of almost $300.00 for a service contract to take care of the problem. Big deal. I can buy a new microwave (not a Samsung and not from Sears) for almost the same amount. So much for the consumer reports and salesman recommendation! So far, Samsung has provided no more encouragement. They recommended a close by repair service phone number and when called, they said they can supply the part for repair, but did not get back to me on a price. When asked, Is it difficult to replace the part? The response was, Not for us. Such beautiful concern. I asked, Are there instructions with the part? No. How do you people stay in business? Beginning to sound like pre-WWII Japanese junk.

I was charged $135 plus tax for about 20 minutes of labor. My microwave that I purchased in April 2011 has been giving me issues months after I purchased. The panel has been replaced about 4 or 5 times and continued to have issues like beeping for no reason, lights on and off without being touched and going out for weeks and returning back to life after weeks of not working. I have made plenty of phone calls about 40 between Samsung and their technicians with little luck. At times they closed my file just because and i would have to start the process all over again. Since my microwave has completely stopped working in August 2014 they said they would fix and came out 3 times to diagnose the same issue but never fixed it. I was told by tech he was going to order parts and be back to fix, and never did. It was a lie. They called me 3 other times after that because they wanted to diagnose it again. That makes no sense, but they claim that is the process. I complained with BBB, and Samsung now wants the original purchase receipt that I had already showed the technician in 2012. Since I dont have it they want to partially reimburse me for owning it all this time. Whos fault is that? Not mine. If Samsung would have accepted my product was defective from the beginning I would not have owned it for so long. How can the people put an end to this defective product. They should get sued or make them recall their product. I am tired of Samsung and they should be held accountable for selling faulty products.

Then had another issue with the unit functioning (of course just past the 1 year warranty part); had to replace the sensors at the door (my cost). Then we get the SE error - the remedies online dont work, so, only solution to replace the entire control panel?? This is an extremely poor design. SAMSUNG should not have sold this design. Third appliance of theirs that has been a major disappointment. I will never buy SAMSUNG again.

When I installed the microwave, it turned out the factory never connected the power line inside the microwave. Now at the 3 year mark, the microwave seems to have power but will not heat anything. I have had many microwaves that I have discarded that were older than this, but they always heated when I upgraded.

After 3 years of very light use, around June 2013, my Samsung microwave stopped suddenly giving a different beep. All buttons of the keypad were inoperable. Nothing of this mentioned in the user manual. I called service engineer & he too had no idea about the error code. He asked us to replace the keypad unit but did not return after that. I just chanced to look for the solution of the problem in net & to my disbelief exactly the same problem is faced by so many all around the world and the Samsung guys have found a way to earn more bucks on pretext of repairing their own manufacturing defect. Shame on them.

SMH8165 - I have tried a few different things suggested for this microwave. What finally seems to have stopped it is I took the keypad off and disconnected the thin wires from the circuit board. They are towards the top of the board in the middle. They seem to go to the sensor that was malfunctioning. We do not use the sensor cook modes so that resolved the SE error for us. Wont buy another Samsung OTR Microwave. They have twice the repair rate of other models according to a popular consumer reporting site.

My 4-day old Samsung microwave caught fire. I spoke with Sears who held my 5-year guarantee and they talk to Samsung as its under the 1 manufacturers portion of the guarantee. Well, I paid for a 5 year guarantee so I dont how they can weasel out of the 1st year. Samsung was no help either. Sears came out twice and refused to make any repairs.

Samsung microwave SMH9187 - As others describe, the microwave started to beep and the -SE- error code appears. This signifies a display panel issue. Some have had success disconnecting power source for ~15 seconds. Others had success by simultaneously holding the stop/clear and enter/start buttons for 20 seconds. Someone else recommended disconnecting the display panel. This is easy. It is easy to remove the plugs and on my model, only the two white and blue plugs at the bottom could be incorrectly swapped but the blue plug connection has the word blue clearly shown. I had disassembled and am trying to use fans to remove moisture. This malfunction occurred after a nearly two inch rainstorm, so there might be some moisture causing the failure. Samsung said they would extend the parts warranty even though I am outside the 1 year warranty, so I would need to pay for a serviceman. If it is just the display panel and if I can get the part for no cost, this is an easy install.

I bought my Samsung Microwave on Christmas Eve when my other one stopped in the middle of food prep for the big day, so living in a rural area I went to the only appliance shop in town and picked up this beauty, probably paid more than I normally would have but have no regrets and would buy another Samsung microwave in a heartbeat!!

OTR Samsung Microwave model SMH9207ST - I purchased first microwave in 2012 at Lowes and within the first year the plastic latch on the door handle broke off and the door would not close. Fortunately I was able to replace it at the store with same model. So now after a little over 2 years the panel in bottom right side that has the buttons for light and vent started sticking. After spraying with WD40 they started working again. But last night that ended when all of the buttons just pushed completely in behind the panel. So now it looks bad and I cant turn the vent off or use the light buttons. Like many others, I spent more on this model ($450) because of its stylish looks and because I thought I was getting a quality product... not so!

On December 27, 2013, I bought a Samsung kitchen appliance suite at The Home Depot. I made the purchase at store #6326. Unfortunately, the microwave (SMH1816S) has not performed well. The microwave does not powers on, but the timer still counts down. I do not expect a microwave to last forever. However, I do expect it to last more than 18 months.

Our Samsung microwave died on Thanksgiving day. Christmas has come and gone and we still do not have a working microwave. We have talked to Samsung at 800-726-7864 multiple times to get it fixed. We had their service vendor come to our house multiple times. We were told that the magnetron was under the 10 year warranty by Samsung and should be provided by Samsung to the repair vendor. Then we would be responsible for the labor only for $89. Each time the vendor came they said we were responsible for the part and all repair costs. We are now done. We will never buy a Samsung appliance again and suggest that Lowes should not sell this product either. Incidentally, our microwave was 3 years old.

Samsung is a joke. Purchased a microwave that lasted only 3 years with minimal use. Got the SE error code. Called Samsung for help. They agreed to send out a service tech, well lo and behold NO ONE in my area will even deal with them. So basically Samsung told me it was my problem, but they were willing to repair it if a service technician was in my area. This process took me 3 weeks. They wont return calls, then transfer from one dept to the next, it is a total joke. They finally agreed to pro rate the cost of my microwave. This process took another 2 weeks. Needless to say I will NEVER again purchase from Samsung.

As the previous 150 purchasers of the OTC Samsung SMH9187SW Microwave, I purchased mine 12/2011, and it has stopped working 2/2013. Since it is out of warranty, I didnt even bother to contact Samsung because Ive had mine for 26 months and knew that if I wanted a Samsung certified repair person, it would cost more than the original price. I live in the San Francisco Bay area so I found a repairman with 135 5 STAR reviews. I told him my problem and he said he stopped working on microwaves because it was cheaper for customers to replace them. He also said he did not know of anyone that he could honestly recommend. So I found this site and followed the advice of the few people that were able to get theirs up and running. Unfortunately, none of the suggestions helped; I tried unplugging the unit, pushing clear and start simultaneously and finally unplugging and resetting the blue and white plugs on the control panel.I had thought of buying a different microwave except for the fact there is not one single microwave under $1,000 with a customer rating above 2 stars. Even the Best Buy rated microwaves in Consumer Reports, Epinions, Amazon, etc. didnt receive positive reviews from the actual consumers. So now I am going to order the control panel (not from Samsung directly) and install it myself. I dont see any other option since I dont want the expense of another microwave plus installation and then worry that another problem will occur no matter what brand I buy. My 1st OTC microwave lasted 20 years, the 2nd for 10 years and now 2 years! I most definitely would like to be involved in a class action suit. One interesting side note: Consumer Reports still list Samsung in the top 4. From now on, Im going to the actual user reviews listed at the bottom of the rating page!

Samsung microwave SMH9187B - Microwave goes on for maybe a second, then loses power for a couple of seconds, then gets power again and clock has to be reset, etc. When it shuts itself off, there is an audible click in the control pad, at which time it dies... much like a circuit breaker tripping. The ribbon was stuck to itself and I separated it. Also I have tried cleaning all contacts, etc. and it does not help. Probably 2 years ago I had the control board replaced. Samsung actually covered the cost. Not sure now though. What a piece of garbage!

Just bought this microwave and first time using it, noticed a burning smell but I thought was just because it was new. Second time I used it, microwave went on fire. Fire stopped when we turned off the microwave. We then called Samsung who wanted pictures so we turned microwave back on with nothing in it. Again went on fire and we took pictures of the flames and the burn hole, that looks exactly like the pictures others have posted. Been in contact with Samsung for days who are still reviewing the case and whether it will be approved to send out a service guy to repair my burnt up microwave. Im lucky my daughter wasnt near the microwave or we werent defrosting something and left.Samsung takes zero responsibility even though I could have had a house burn down or the fact we just spent nearly 10,000 on all Samsung appliances. This microwave needs to be recalled!! If you google it, so many have caught on fire, yet Samsung does nothing to warn the consumer or even try to fix the situation. Disgusted by Samsung.

Purchased model 4 years ago. Had all sorts of problems. The control pad froze up continually. Lights & fan came on randomly by itself. We had service to fix it on numerous occasions. The repairs were in vain. Could not be fixed. Samsung finally within the warranty period exchanged the unit for a new one. Well, we had the same problems. Several repairs and 3 years later, the unit died No power. Since the warranty expired, Samsung refused to replace or repair. A service call was $165 plus parts. We purchase a new GE microwave. Do not purchase a Samsung Microwave.

I bought Samsung microwave model SMH9187ST in March 2011 and just got the SE/5E code. After reading hundreds of similar complaints, I contacted Samsung. They are sending a service repair company to replace the control panel free of charge even though it is out of warranty. I was told that this was considered an epidemic type of issue that Samsung is aware of. If after the replacement of the control panel I am still receiving the error message, then the control box will need to be replaced at my expense. I just wanted to share with anyone who is just now getting this error code that Samsung will work with you on some level. Better than nothing, I guess.

Microwave Mod # SMH9187st has an enormous amount of people on line with the same problem; in the middle of the night the microwave starts beeping and SE is displayed. Only way to fix it is replace with parts that cost over a hundred $ but afraid to discover new parts may have same defect. Microwave (of course) did not stop working until after the warranty. I have had many microwaves in my life. Never ever has any of them stopped working, only just wanted a better one. Now I am forced to buy a built-in type over 600.00 at home depot because Samsung is JUNK!!!! My wife wanted a Samsung phone until I reminded her of the dead-weight junk in our kitchen. So we went with Iphones. NEVER Samsung!!! !

My Samsung microwave (model SMH9187) is a few months past its warranty period and is no longer working due to the SE error. I cannot believe Consumer Reports rated this junk number 1. Do not buy Samsung microwaves.

I purchased this model in May of 2016. For the past 6 months it randomly works. The screen flashes 777s sometimes, sometimes nothing at all and currently has completely stopped working altogether and the screen shows C-FO. It was an expensive microwave purchased with 2 other black stainless Samsung products, one being a $2500 refrigerator that has quit producing ice. Ive contacted Samsung and they will not stand behind their products. Very dissatisfied and will never recommend any of their products.

I have experienced the same complaint everyone who owns a Samsung microwave seems to have - the SE error code. I contacted Samsung and it took four chat sessions and an angry phone call to have a service person come out. I was told the control panel would be replaced, no charge on epidemic warranty; servicing agency knows nothing about it. I was told I would have to pay for the control box if it needs replacement. It seems like Samsung is well aware of this major problem, but has chosen to do nothing until your unit fails - and it will. Then they horse you around for days to get it serviced. I have lots of Samsung products with no problems, but this microwave has totally destroyed my Samsung vision. It is just an out and out piece of crap. The ventilation system sucks, which I believe is the cause of the SE code because moisture builds up in the control panel. If I have to replace, I guarantee it will not be with another Samsung.

Just moved into my new house. Came equipped with Samsung microwave she 15th made in 2009. I should have known something was up as it was not plugged in. When plugged in, it spins and goes bonkers. When you can get it to accept numbers, it stops spinning. It melts bowls and never heats evenly. Having it replaced next week but costing me an additional 300 dollars. Sad.

Samsung SMH2117S microwave - Samsung refused after various escalations to repair the SE- error code that made the OTR microwave go crazy. The fan initially kept turning itself on and off constantly, then would show the error code and die. Unplugging it and plugging it back in would briefly fix the issue, but then it just croaked for good. Just a few months out of warranty (of course), and now, for purely the principle, would join a CA lawsuit against Samsung despite the unlikely odds of that happening. Like most others here, we are adding Samsung (and Sony) to the list of god-awful businesses from which we will NEVER again purchase.
