I just moved into a new house late last year and it had a fairly new Samsung Over-the-Range Microwave Oven installed. This was working fine for the last few months until one day, it started giving us an SE error on the display and none of the other buttons would work. Initially, this would go off on its own but would then come back and until one day, it came back and just wouldnt go off. We browsed the internet and found that there was a whole sea of people that have reported this issue and turns out that it is a quite common problem. The microwave has just passed its warranty and Samsung now expects us to pay for the service and parts if they fix it. Considering this is a common problem faced by so many people, I think they should do a recall and get these fixed for everyone. The model I have is SMH9207ST. I would not recommend anyone buying these Over-the-Range microwaves from Samsung.

The management company for my apartment purchased for me a Samsung Microwave model 18H704SFS in Sept 2015 from PC Richards. Since purchasing, it has stopped working three times and required service. The problem is with the sensors on the door which have been replaced only to fail again. My old cube microwave (thank God I saved it), which I had for over 15 years, never failed me... and I have had to bring it out of storage each time my new Samsung decided to stop functioning. Wonder of wonders, it still works perfectly unlike my nearly new Samsung.Even though I purchased a 5 yr warranty, all this costs me time in multiple appointments and return visits with parts ordered, not to mention all the phone calls. I just now turned to ConsumerAffairs to read Samsung microwave reviews, something I should have done before I bought Samsung as I see other persons with the very same complaint. I have a Samsung phone which I like. The microwave, however, seems to be a loser. Buyer beware!

I need a new one as the old one, under 2 years old, wouldn’t turn off so I had to unplug it. I emailed asking if it could be fixed and got no answer. After waiting two weeks I put it in the garbage. Not sure which one I’ll get so am looking at several. I have borrowed a microwave so I’m not in a rush.

This 16-month-old Samsung microwave had the dreaded SE error code. I tried unplugging it to recycle and nothing worked. After reading all of the reviews, I knew I was doomed. I called Sears only to find out it was a common problem. And, as the previous complaints say, it will cost more than a brand new one to fix. I also read where it was a known problem with the keyboard circuit and yet Samsung still would not give the consumer a break by recalling it. I then read one entry in Google regarding the problem which said to hold the cancel and reset button down at the same time. I didnt have those buttons, but held down the clear and start buttons at the same time - say 3 seconds, at most. Well, I held on for dear life for about 20 seconds. All of a sudden, the unit started beeping. I let go - and oh, my God, it reset! It seems to be working fine now! This is obviously a scam by someone. Otherwise, why is this fix not mentioned anywhere? It looks like I stumbled across a $300 secret. Hopefully, this helps others. By the way, even if a tech came out and was able to do the same thing, it still would have cost the $75. What a shame.

We purchased our Samsung Stainless Steel Over the Range Microwave from Best Buy in March 2010. 17 months later, the microwave has stopped heating completely and is not under warranty. So frustrating. We had to get our 15-year old small countertop microwave out of the garage to use until we decide what other expensive brand we want to waste our money on. To invest in nice appliances is a joke and there should be a class action lawsuit.

Samsung is a joke. Purchased a microwave that lasted only 3 years with minimal use. Got the SE error code. Called Samsung for help. They agreed to send out a service tech, well lo and behold NO ONE in my area will even deal with them. So basically Samsung told me it was my problem, but they were willing to repair it if a service technician was in my area. This process took me 3 weeks. They wont return calls, then transfer from one dept to the next, it is a total joke. They finally agreed to pro rate the cost of my microwave. This process took another 2 weeks. Needless to say I will NEVER again purchase from Samsung.

I purchased a Samsung Microwave Model SMH8187STG from Costco on 19 MAR, 2011. The other day, I went to close the door, heard a snap and it wouldnt close. The plastic latch was loose. I called Samsung (even though warranty was over) to inquire about what to do, and was passed on to their Canadian parts department, where I ordered a new plastic latch piece for $2.99, assuming thats what the problem was. It would be sent to the dealer nearest to our town where I could pick it up at that price, or mailed to me for $12.99 (I chose the pick up). The parts person also helped by directing me to a website as to how to take the door apart to get at the broken latch. I discovered many other sites where people had had problems with Samsung door latches failing, SE problems, etc.Anyway, when I took the door apart and got the latch out, there were a couple of other broken plastic pieces also. I picked up the new piece yesterday, brought it home, and discovered from looking at some other websites that some people had to glue broken plastic bits back on the door in order to get everything to work (they apparently hadnt ordered a new part). My new part didnt include the other plastic pieces, as they had been part of the inside of the door! They were very small, and very thin, and were part of the guides for the latch, and one of them appeared to be the piece that would anchor the spring that would attach to the latch. Crazy glue or epoxy wasnt going to fix that piece well enough to allow a spring to re-anchor for the stress on the latch. My wife and I do not slam the microwave door, and at our age (mid-60s), we realize were now living in a throw-away society, but this is ridiculous! It looks like well need a new door, as the whole internal part of the current door contains these tiny plastic anchors. Samsung knew or ought to have known that these pieces would not stand up to repeated use over more than a few years before the stress on them would cause them to fail. Why would they not have used reasonably strong metal anchors? While Im not a lawyer, one would think that those of us that have had this problem would have a decent case in small claims court or in a class action suit, even though the warranty is over. Does anyone agree? Anyway, after reading the other horror stories and our experience, its the first/last Samsung for us! P.S. So far, we havent had the SE problem, but from the looks of it, we probably will. However, we bought ours at Costco, as mentioned, and they are very good at taking things back from dissatisfied customers.

Just bought this microwave and first time using it, noticed a burning smell but I thought was just because it was new. Second time I used it, microwave went on fire. Fire stopped when we turned off the microwave. We then called Samsung who wanted pictures so we turned microwave back on with nothing in it. Again went on fire and we took pictures of the flames and the burn hole, that looks exactly like the pictures others have posted. Been in contact with Samsung for days who are still reviewing the case and whether it will be approved to send out a service guy to repair my burnt up microwave. Im lucky my daughter wasnt near the microwave or we werent defrosting something and left.Samsung takes zero responsibility even though I could have had a house burn down or the fact we just spent nearly 10,000 on all Samsung appliances. This microwave needs to be recalled!! If you google it, so many have caught on fire, yet Samsung does nothing to warn the consumer or even try to fix the situation. Disgusted by Samsung.

We bought our Samsung microwave model SMH8165W on Feb 23, 2011. I know this b/c I actually registered online w/ Samsung to get the extended 1 year + 3 month warranty. They have engineered their microwave to be built to last barely above a year. Let me say, it is beautifully designed and at an inexpensive price point. It was the best deal at the time. It had features that we NEVER used - like, any of the snack features. My husband still loves it.... BUT... within a year, one of the LED legs blew out in the first number. We ignored that. It wasnt big enough to bother, you could still read the number. Id already misplaced any paperwork. Now, on Feb 18, 2014 - almost 3 years to the day that we purchased our Samsung we have another interesting error. Our under microwave light that goes from On, to Night light, to Off.. it always stays ON. One of the lights blew out so we changed it thinking that maybe that was the problem. Nope, both bulbs now burn brightly. We are out of warranty. We wont be buying Samsung again. We actually need a light on at night to cook, being in a dark kitchen. So in the meantime Im buying a set of 3 stick on LED lights for $6 on Amazon. One LED light will last 1000 hours. Lets see if it outlasts the Samsung.

It is unbelievable that with all the complaints we are reading about the SE problem with Samsung microwaves, the company hasnt responded. I too have the same beeping problem. I hardly used this microwave and have used it less than 2 years after installation. The fix becomes costly if you cant do it yourself. You might as well buy a new one. Then you have to pay for installation of that. I will never buy another Samsung product of any kind as their support is nil.

After only 17 months, the magnetron on a stainless steel high end microwave by Samsung broke down. I called Samsung and they put me in touch with a repair company. I am sure it is Magnetron because the food will not heat up. I decided why bother with a repair that will cost me a minimum of $160 on the low end for a machine that was $269 new. What a nice looking piece of junk.

Weve had our Samsung microwave for almost 3 years and we dont usually use it as wed rather use gas to cook or heat food than use the microwave. So far, its okay and its working for its function although the self-cleaning feature does not work well. The manual that comes along with it says the self-cleaning feature can help eliminate the odor but it doesnt seem to be working. We have to use conventional methods like using baking soda to eliminate odor trapped in the microwave... I wont really recommend Samsung microwaves if you have other and better choices.

We purchased this Samsung smh1816s microwave in the fall of 2013. By December 2013 the microwave quit working and displayed the SE or 5E error code. Samsung repaired the unit under warranty only after 2 weeks (1 of which was Christmas week) with no microwave. Now (December of 2014) we are having the exact same issue, showing the exact same error code and Samsung customer service and executive customer service refuse to fix the microwave because it is out of warranty. I will NEVER recommend Samsung appliances to anyone else. I too would love to be part of a class action lawsuit filed against this company for selling knowingly defective equipment. Referred to Warranty services in TX. 7 - Tyrone/warranty dept states Repair’s documentation isn’t clear about who or what damaged the unit….warranty voided. We are the not so proud owners of a brand new broken microwave and I felt compelled to warn others. 494 bucks is 494 bucks and the fact is we paid them for a broken product and they didn’t make it right. That’s completely unethical. Shame on Samsung. Shame.

I have experienced the same complaint everyone who owns a Samsung microwave
I have experienced the same complaint everyone who owns a Samsung microwave seems to have - the SE error code. I contacted Samsung and it took four chat sessions and an angry phone call to have a service person come out. I was told the control panel would be replaced, no charge on epidemic warranty; servicing agency knows nothing about it. I was told I would have to pay for the control box if it needs replacement. It seems like Samsung is well aware of this major problem, but has chosen to do nothing until your unit fails - and it will. Then they horse you around for days to get it serviced. I have lots of Samsung products with no problems, but this microwave has totally destroyed my Samsung vision. It is just an out and out piece of crap. The ventilation system sucks, which I believe is the cause of the SE code because moisture builds up in the control panel. If I have to replace, I guarantee it will not be with another Samsung.

Samsung microwave, Model: SMH1816S purchased about three years from Best Buy based on their review. A few days ago, the microwave started making humming/buzzing sound even though it was not in use. I also noticed that it was heating up but nothing was showing on the panel so I immediately unplugged and the following day, I called Samsung customer service. The lady I talked to seemed very nice and stated that she is going to create a Liability ticket -which I thought it was kind of bizarre considering that I was just calling to diagnose the issue. She proceeded to tell me that she was referring my ticket to their executive support team (sounds fancy) and that someone will contact me within two hours. Days passed and several calls from me and still have not heard from them. I am thinking about starting a Dont Buy Samsung Crap Page on Facebook, maybe thatll get their attention.Incidentally, their junk of so called products is not limited to microwaves. I have a Samsung laptop (Model NP-NF310) that had the keyboard stopped working 4 months after purchasing it. I called Samsung about it and the guy told me that it was out of warranty and replacing the keyboard would have cost almost as much as the computer itself. I should have learned my lesson from that experience before buying the microwave, but the Best Buy salesman was very convincing (fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me). Samsung - you outdo yourself in producing crappy junk time and again but NEVER AGAIN, will I buy a Samsung.

2005 Samsung microwave -SE- on display. Microwave high end that has an auto cook for types of food. I saw the post about the sensor and read others online for only 10 min. Said it was a humidity sensor that was shorted inside microwave, not a panel. My microwave was totally unusable. No buttons worked and unplugging power had no effect. I am fairly good at fixing things. And it said that you had to replace sensor. But after about five min., I remembered what I last cooked. I cooked corn. I bet that sensor is dirty. Inside on the ceiling of the microwave is a small 1/4 inch hole that the sensor fits. I sprayed it with aerosol isopropyl alcohol. Instant! : 0 on display, the -SE- was gone. The sensor was dirty and caused the microwave to lockup. I did not use but can suggest maybe a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol. A spray worked for me. My microwave is working. Thanks for the info on this site. It helped. Lot of work saved.

I, like everyone else, got the Samsung SE error out of nowhere, at around 18 months after purchase. I read all these reviews today and was about to go shopping to replace my SMH9187ST microwave. After power cycling it, the SE error would come back between two minutes and immediately. So far, after I did what I did, it hasnt happened in 8 hours. So here is what I did. Hopefully this will work for someone else. All you need is a Philips-head screwdriver and I didnt even have to remove the microwave from where it was mounted.Take out the top two screws. They fasten the top front vent grill to the microwave. To remove the vent grill, simply slide it to the left and pull out. Now when that is removed, you now have access to the one Phillips-head screw that holds on the dreaded keypad on the right of the microwave. Remove that screw. Then, slide the keypad assembly up and wiggle left and right to slide the fingers that hold it on to the microwave free from the slots they are in. Now once that is free, you can pull it out and see the few connectors that connect the keypad to the rest of the microwave. There is a white connector and a blue connector towards the bottom of the back of the keypad assembly. I simply reseated those connectors. Meaning, I unplugged them then plugged them back in making sure they were snug. The blue connector seemed to be a little loose when I went to reseat it. Im thinking maybe it had backed its way out somehow and was causing a bad connection, therefore giving me the SE error. But thats it. Line up the keypad assembly fingers back up with their proper slots and slide it down, therefore lining up the screw hole on the keypad assembly with the screw hole on the microwave and put that screw back in. Then slide the top front vent grill back on from left to right after lining up the little fingers with the slots they fit in. Then screw back in those two screws that hold the grill on. My beeping that was happening has now stopped and Ive microwaved a few things since. It took me no more than five minutes to figure out how to open it up, reseat the connectors, and put it back together. So far, problem seems solved!

I bought Samsung refrigerator two years ago. The door shelf broke three times so far. The first two times refrigerator was under warranty so Samsung provided free replacements. This is side by side refrigerator and it has water dispenser. The water is constantly dripping from the water dispenser. Also it has a very slow flow. It also has ice maker, however, whenever you try to get ice, it just spills all over the place because the opening is too wide. Very poor design and quality. Samsung tried to sell extended warranty. I told them when this refrigerator dies I am towing it to landfill and I will never ever buy anything Samsung. This is an extremely low quality refrigerator that was selling for $1800. I also have Samsung microwave. Do I need to tell you that the microwave door broke in less than two years? It was the plastic hinges that are again very brittle. $200 to fix (50% of the original purchase cost). Shame on you Samsung for being cheap and using cheap brittle plastic parts.

4 Years ago I upgraded 4 of my appliances, 2 of them Samsung fridge and microwave. Fridge broke in 2013. Microwave broke this month. Called Samsung informed them its not working and gave burning smell and they recommended to have microwave evaluated by tech which I refused (reason written below between they told me after 1 year no warranty). Went to Best Buy and bought GE microwave. Hopefully it will last long. Our TV from Samsung already broke of course. Last year when my fridge broke, I called Samsung. In short they recommended CERTIFIED technician who came and couldnt pinpoint issue (FREEZER SIDE WAS NOT WORKING, MELTING EVERYTHING). He told me it could be one of many reason and recommended to change 3-4 expensive parts plus his labor cost. I could buy new fridge comparing parts and labor cost. My opinion Samsung products dont last long. If you have money to throw, do buy them.

Samsung OTR microwave Model SMH9207st - Wow, where to begin! I believe I bought this microwave in August of 2013. I will explain later why I dont know the exact date. In December of last year I got the dreaded SE code. I called Samsung (after reading all the horrible reviews about my microwave) and told them I was getting the dreaded code. They said since my microwave was over a year old, the warranty had expired and there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak to superiors and went through four of them and they all told me there was nothing they could do. Sooo I threw away the receipt, the owners manual and the mounting screws. He took down the microwave and I told him to take the stupid thing to the dump. Luckily he hadnt done it yet because a couple days later I received an email from Samsung saying that they were going to pay for a one time parts and labor fix.A company called me and set up date and time to come out. The tech came out and noticed that my microwave had scratches in the bottom and said it was a fire hazard and he didnt know if they would fix or not. I have heard online about the glass plate wobbling so maybe that is how it got scratched. They called back and said they ordered a new door and I would have to pay for the coating paint to cover the scratches and also the mounting screws. Tech came out and the door had the wrong connections and wouldnt work. Had to reorder. Came out today, replaced the door in a couple minutes and told me he was through...everything was working...clock, light, etc. As he walked out the door I opened the door and closed it and it DIED! I called him back in and he made a phone call and said he would have to reorder another door! Going on almost three months so far and still no working microwave. Luckily a friend had an OLD $50 microwave that she let me use and it has worked wonderfully! I need to know how to join class action lawsuit. I just want a different microwave! FRUSTRATED!

Samsung microwave SMH9187B - Microwave goes on for maybe a second, then loses power for a couple of seconds, then gets power again and clock has to be reset, etc. When it shuts itself off, there is an audible click in the control pad, at which time it dies... much like a circuit breaker tripping. The ribbon was stuck to itself and I separated it. Also I have tried cleaning all contacts, etc. and it does not help. Probably 2 years ago I had the control board replaced. Samsung actually covered the cost. Not sure now though. What a piece of garbage!

Contacted Samsung customer service following discovery of many Samsung microwave SMH8165ST, faulty control panel. Customers who reported help from Samsung. Yet, they would not help me with the same problem. The error code SE came on and does not clear when microwave is unplugged. Samsung admitted to me the problem was epidemic when I called them. Because they do not have any authorized Samsung service providers near me, they will not help with repair costs. Therefore, I would not ever purchase a Samsung product again.

I bought a Samsung microwave about a year and half ago. At the time it was a fancy microwave with all the bells and whistles. Great right?! Yea...I thought so too. So after shelling out quite a bit for a microwave, the door actually failed within 1 year. It just randomly came up with an error code and stopped working. Apparently, this was a well known issue with this model and Samsung replaced the door. However, the replacement door is also now under a year of use and the back side of the door is plastic. Well it literally crumbled into pieces. I called Samsung and they told me conveniently the manufacturer warranty is 1 year total and the replacement door is not warranted for an additional year. So since I am 4 months outside of the original warranty (not when the new door was replaced) it would cost $250 at least to fix. Its a practically new microwave and it needs $250 to fix. Samsung does not care about customer service at all. I will no longer support their products. This is not right.

As everyone on this site has the same problems with Samsung refrigerator. I bought it January 2016 and less than 3 months had to have the computer board replaced. It did not make a difference. The whole bottom of the refrigerator freezes and has to be defrosted if you want to open it and it will stop making ice. There is a light that comes on to tell me to change the water filter, but it does not have one. For the last month it puts water under the draws and freezes. It is out of warranty now. It still is not paid for. After reading all the reviews I realize I need a new refrigerator, while still having to pay off this one. The store HH Gregg is no longer in business. The microwave does not work properly, just plain junk. I do not know why this company is allowed to sell products in the U.S. They are just stealing our money and getting away with it. How could they not be compelled to have a recall on these refrigerators. Keep me informed of any action with this company, please.

I bought brand new Samsung Kitchen Suite. After 3 months, the microwave started beeping in the middle of the night. Still under warranty, the touchpad was replaced by the technician. 7 to 8 months later, it occurred again - now out of warranty, we looked online. My husband followed the advice of others having the same problem and he unplugged and re-plugged the ribbon cable which worked. Now, about 6 more months and it started again. So he has added an additional piece of plastic behind the ribbon cable to improve the contact. For now it is working. I am very disappointed in Samsung quality and service.

I purchased this Samsung convection microwave (MC11K70355) about 4 weeks ago at Best Buy. It was considerably more money than I wanted to spend but offered lots of useful features. I found it easy to use, powerful and a very good addition to my kitchen. Baking and roasting are a breeze with this thing. The slim fry function is very nice for cooking and frying vegetables in very light oil. The unit failed a week ago when the grill stop working. Samsung had a technician out the next day who diagnosed a poor connection to the grill which ended up shorting out. It took a week to get parts, they replaced the grill the wiring harness and the front panel computer. Despite the problems I am very happy with this microwave. The problem appears to been a manufacturing defect.

I posted a YouTube video I made about how I fixed my Samsung Microwave plagued with the dreaded 5E (SE) error. Like many other people, my Samsung Microwave started giving me an SE error a little after a year after I bought it. When I called Samsung, they told me the warranty was up and suggested I should call an appliance repair company. I followed their advice on this site and tried to repair the microwave myself by cleaning the display pad. The fix took me about 15 minutes and seems to have worked. Two weeks later, and the microwave is still working fine. Keep your fingers crossed. Some other commentators on this site have suggested that Samsung may now fix this error if you mention all the negative comments on this and similar sites. I will give Samsung another call and see if this approach works if the microwave fails again and once again I am plagued with an SE error.

Today I contacted Samsung support via live chat, describing the common SE error, to inquire about service for my SMH9207 microwave purchased in Dec. 2010. Many postings, including several on consumeraffairs.com indicate Samsung is aware of this common issue with their microwaves and in some cases has repaired out of warranty microwaves. The representative I chatted with, George **, indicated Certain models had a known issue which we have addressed. These are the only ones that are being covered outside of the warranty term. I was give the web form to fill out a service request. Its obvious Samsung makes good phones, not microwaves, and they dont always stand behind a product. I was very disappointed as I had purchased many Samsung products over the years (phones, TVs, etc.) finding them reliable but, I never had to put the company to the test until $335 microwave stopped working. At this point, I will never buy a Samsung product again because I know if their is a fluke, or defect in their usually decent products, the company will not stand behind the product, and will cite the warranty which is in line with industry and isnt good (1 yr.). I am so upset, Im spending for a microwave of another brand rather than buying the Samsung control board and servicing. Do not buy a Samsung appliance if you want reliability and company that stands behind the product.

After some deliberation, the answer was no because I was not an authorized repair technician. Had I waited on Samsung to handle this situation with their service, I would have had no expense. Model smh9187w - It was purchased on 5/28/2010. Two months later the plastic spindle for the turntable broke. Samsung misunderstood my request and sent 2 different parts. One of them was the correct one and I replaced it. After 13 months, the display showed code SE. I unplugged it for 5 minutes as recommended by Samsung. Nothing! I looked for the part, which cost $76, but did not purchase. I re-assembled the microwave and it worked again, obviously taking it apart and putting it back together to reset the unit. I have now removed the control box about 10 times. One night, it again went into code SE which makes the unit beep incessantly. My wife had to get up to fiddle with the panel and eventually unplug the unit to make it stop beeping. She was mad. The following night she made me unplug the microwave before going to bed to insure that she was not going to be woken up. Eighteen months later, the motor gearing that turns the turntables spindle got loose. I glued it back on. Today it showed a different code: child lock on, child lock off. I looked in the manual for the unlock code. Press and hold the start button for 3 seconds. Dumb! This is the most used button and the first one to fail. I removed the control panel again and attempted to remove the membrane switches. They are glued into the panel and are not replaceable or available from the parts department. I have to purchase the whole faceplate for the above mentioned cost of $76. Of course, I have no assurances that the defective part has been redesigned, so I am not going to spend additional money purchasing a new defective panel. What else is going to break in this horrible microwave? The variety of the failures confirmed my suspicions of horrible design and built, probably rushed to the market to make more money. The saddest part of all this is that I replaced my 18-year old microwave simply because the front plastic case parts had broken or become to worn out to look clean. I should have kept it and never purchased this Samsung. I will never buy any Samsung products ever again. I wish I could get my money back to purchase a decent microwave.

Two years into our ownership of this microwave (SMH9187WXAA), we are working on the third control panel. It is a known issue, common to this model microwave. Tens of thousands of these control panels all over the country (I dare say world) are being replaced every year. The tech who replaced the first panel was on his eighth that day; yesterdays tech who replaced the second panel was on his third. Samsung refuses to either replace my microwave or extend my warranty. How does one deal with an issue such as this? The microwave has a known and very widespread defect. That means it does not serve the purpose for which it was designed, and I purchased it. If I did that in my business, the Feds would be on my case. Who is pursuing Samsung in this case? Not Consumer Reports, who rated this microwave a Best Buy. I will be buying no more Samsung or General Electric appliances (Samsung makes many of GEs appliances, esp. their refrigerators).

I recently purchased a home and needed a microwave. My parents have a second home and they were kind enough to give me the 2-year-old Samsung microwave from that home. The microwave was hardly ever used when my parents had it, so apparently daily use was just too much for it. The keypad will not work - at all - not one single button. Ive tried unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for hours, it doesnt work. The display just flashes Simply Samsung forever. Then, in the middle of the night, it activates the 1 button by itself. Ill wake up and hear it repeatedly dinging and the display says 11:11. This microwave was never exposed to any water or harsh climate conditions. Its just a piece of **. Looked it upon net, tried the soap thing, NG. Tried banging on left side and running this time, but for how long? If I have to pull it out like another suggestion it WILL NOT GO BACK IN. BTW, the Samsung authorized dealer is 3 hours away! They sent one about 6 months after I got it for rust appearing on the outside of the door and he said rust was not under warranty. Samsung stated the repair guy had to come out again to troubleshoot w/ a Samsung engineer on the phone. I explained that the repair guy did that @ the last appt, Samsung stated there was no record of it. I also stated that I was aware of the recall involving buttons on the panel sticking. They said I had to make another appt. I refused, spoke to another 2 managers & after 55 min on the phone was offered $130 voucher/check. I was told that was what they could offer w depreciation on the microwave for the last 2 yrs. AND that the microwave costs about $190, so it wasnt so bad. The microwave costs $240 plus. In May, 2016 we purchased a Samsung Microwave Model # ME16H702SES/A... and the rest of the number is not visible due to the fire which burned off the serial number and part of the model number. I suspect the fire started due to electrical arcing between the microwave housing and the door, because I had that on another model six years ago, and the arcing started while the unit was not being used. The fire started in October 2016 and we contacted Home Depot Canada, the vendor. They took the information and said someone from Samsung would be coming to look at the damage and by the middle of November 2016 no one had come. We called Home Depot again and they told us to contact Samsung Canada for help. We did so, and on December 2, 2016 we received an email from Meyson **, asking us for a copy of the store receipt and photographs of the damaged area. On December 14 I sent the photographs, also asking him to confirm the receipt of the information. He replied the same day stating he had not received the photographs, I sent them again the same day, both times I sent them, there was no negative feedback from the email system, and this indicates the emails had gone through. On December 23 I had not received a reply from Meyson ** so I emailed him again indicating the length of time it was taking to acknowledge and repair this product, and heard nothing from him.December 27, I called the Samsung Canada Specialty Group (where Meyson ** works) and he wasnt available so we described the problem to another support person, they said in order to help us they required an order number. Obviously they didnt know the difference between an order number and a ticket number. After 30-35 minutes on the phone with a few individuals, it was useless going forward. We called Home Depot again asking for the appliance rep in the store where we purchased the unit and he was on vacation. At this point there is little use in pursuing this through the Customer Support area so we will file an incident with the Better Business Bureau and the CSA Group since we have had more success with the CSA in the past than the vendor.

The microwave completely stopped working in May 2012. We called Samsung to inquire about the error and learn whether there was any chance the warranty would cover it, since it began months before the warranty expired. They attempted to argue that the warranty was from date of manufacture (and thus ended in November 2011, thankful I had my receipt with date of purchase). We were informed that Samsung would pay for the replacement part but not the cost of installing it. Their authorized repair company would call us in 48 hours. We didnt hear anything from them for 5 days. We called Samsung and asked if we could have the part sent directly to us, no, this is against their policy. The authorized service company indicated a cost of $145 to replace the part. However, they cant do anything until Samsung Service includes more information in their service request to the authorized dealer.I contacted Samsung again and asked them to provide me with the part number that needs to be replaced. They gave me the phone number of their authorized parts dealer and told me that this dealer can provide me with the part number. The authorized parts dealer told me that they cant provide me with the part number over the phone. I need to go to their website (samsungparts.com) and look up my model # and use keyword control panel. Im told that the part I need costs $78.98 (she can tell me the price but not the part number?!)I still dont know the part number that Samsung was going to provide me for free, but the website has two parts called control panel for my model of microwave, one of which is $78.98. Luckily, the website does include the part numbers. I checked Sears Parts Direct and found the same part for $40.99. I ordered it, paid $11 shipping, and Im now hoping that the replacement process is relatively simple.I understand that things break, but, after my experience and seeing all the Samsung SE stories on the internet, Samsung products and service are terrible! Im beginning to think that Samsung is purposely making it difficult to learn about the meanings of the error codes and how to repair them, so that you use their service company or buy parts from their overpriced supplier.

We redid our kitchen at the beginning of last year and installed a Samsung microwave, model ME18H704SFS. After 8 months, the overhead light started coming on by itself. Not the high, but the low. I am not the first homeowner to complain about this very problem. It would seem this microwave has well-known issues and Samsung has not recalled the product. I guess Samsung can stand to have poor public relations. I will never purchase another Samsung product. Glenn **Belmont MA

I tried to warm up some leftovers and the Samsung microwave model SMH9187ST just stopped. I reset the time and tried again only to have the thing display X and 0 and then went dead. I checked the circuit breakers and all were fine. I checked the manual and unplugged the unit, waited a minute and plugged it in but no luck - still dead. I called customer relations and Gerardo informed me that the unit was out of warranty and he could schedule a repair at my cost. I informed him that this was our first Samsung appliance and having it break just over 2 years when we only warm up leftovers is not acceptable. I told him that we had a LItton counter top microwave which we had for over 20 years without any problems and sold it when we purchased this unit. He checked for any recalls and said that there were no issues similar to mine and I would have to have it repaired. I told him this would be the first and last Samsung product I will ever buy and I will tell my friend and relatives not to buy this crap. I, too, checked Consumer Reports prior to buying this unit just like one of the posters here and bought it because they gave it a good rating. I will not trust them anymore.

I got the SE code on the Samsung microwave and after reading the complaints here, I called Sears where we got it and had a tech come out. We were able to keep using it until then by holding the stop/clear and start/enter button. Then I got to the point where Id take off the panel and move the wires and it would work again. Also, using the timer/clock seemed to be the issue. Anyhow, Sears came out for $75 to tell me what I already knew (needed new key pad/control box) and it would be a total of $200 for them to repair it (its only a $200 microwave). But he did tell me how to replace it. I tried to get the part from Samsung and they wouldnt as it was just out of warranty (so dont waste your time trying). JJ Parts in NJ is the part dealer for Samsung. I called and got the part with shipping for $70. Installation was super easy: two screws on the top of the unit on the vent grill and then slide it out. Then there is one screw at the top of the control panel. Open the door and lift the control panel up and it comes right off. Then there are a few ribbon cables to take off and it is clearly marked when you need to install them on the new keypad. Someone noted never work on a microwave due to it holding onto a charge - yes, that is true, but youd have to go way into the machine. Unplug the unit obviously before doing this repair, but I cant see how youd possibly run into any issues with this super easy repair.

My ice maker broke within 4 years. I contacted Samsung and they told me to call a repair person and that it is not their problem due to being out of warranty. My washer was broken after 2 years and could not be repaired, had to replace with a new one and spend another $1,000. My fridge was serviced within months of purchase. My decals on all my appliances fell off within one year as well. My Samsung microwave was replaced 4 times within the one year warranty. People be aware and dont waste your money.

Samsung Microwave SMH8165STE - Around the two-year mark, beeeeep, lights on, lights off, SE, beeeep… It never ends! I just Live Chatted with Samsung rep. She put my info into Executive Consumer Relations. What does that mean? Eh, I wont hold my breath to get anything accomplished - these reviews already prepared me. I really think there needs to be a class action lawsuit for this. Not because it is such a huge ticket item, but because Samsung needs to be slapped and told they cant get away with this. How do we do that? Im in if you guys are! As for this microwave, quite frankly, I really dont think I want this hazard in my house. Itd be cheaper for me to go buy a new one from a different company, not to mention I wont have to unplug it for fear a fire will start in the middle of the night while my family and I sleep because the possessed appliance decides to turn itself on for an imaginary baked potato.

Microwave Vent comes on and off by itself. Have to unplug it afraid of fires. Went online and saw numerous complaints about same microwaves. Plan on calling Lowes Monday to see if they will take it back. Samsung needs to be taken to task for obvious manufacturing flaws in microwave keypads. Will wait to see how Lowes and Samsung handles issue. A bit angry with Lowes who continues to sell this microwave knowing the issues Samsung is obviously having.

As the previous 150 purchasers of the OTC Samsung SMH9187SW Microwave, I purchased mine 12/2011, and it has stopped working 2/2013. Since it is out of warranty, I didnt even bother to contact Samsung because Ive had mine for 26 months and knew that if I wanted a Samsung certified repair person, it would cost more than the original price. I live in the San Francisco Bay area so I found a repairman with 135 5 STAR reviews. I told him my problem and he said he stopped working on microwaves because it was cheaper for customers to replace them. He also said he did not know of anyone that he could honestly recommend. So I found this site and followed the advice of the few people that were able to get theirs up and running. Unfortunately, none of the suggestions helped; I tried unplugging the unit, pushing clear and start simultaneously and finally unplugging and resetting the blue and white plugs on the control panel.I had thought of buying a different microwave except for the fact there is not one single microwave under $1,000 with a customer rating above 2 stars. Even the Best Buy rated microwaves in Consumer Reports, Epinions, Amazon, etc. didnt receive positive reviews from the actual consumers. So now I am going to order the control panel (not from Samsung directly) and install it myself. I dont see any other option since I dont want the expense of another microwave plus installation and then worry that another problem will occur no matter what brand I buy. My 1st OTC microwave lasted 20 years, the 2nd for 10 years and now 2 years! I most definitely would like to be involved in a class action suit. One interesting side note: Consumer Reports still list Samsung in the top 4. From now on, Im going to the actual user reviews listed at the bottom of the rating page!

Samsung 2.1 OTR Microwave SMH2117S - Sometimes only the timer works, microwave doesnt heat up anything. It turned on properly, then turned off, then on again, then off again, then on again, worst bag of popped corn ever. Of course Samsung doesnt fix their mess up, that bill goes to the customer. Model 9187, Samsung Microwave SE code - On 6/19/13, I found several complaints and videos of how to fix the SE code on-line. I dreaded a fight, but finally called Samsung on 6/11 and talked with Amanda who could not have been nicer. She acknowledged the issue, said theyd fix it, no charge (my micro was purchased 3/21/11 - no extended warranty) and told me someone from Quality Appliance in Houston would call. Audra from Quality called a couple of hours later, again, very pleasant and professional. They followed up, gave me an ETA and Michael came a little while ago and replaced the touch panel. Its all fine now. I really like my microwave and had missed it. The entire experience was most impressive. Gee, I love dealing with actual human beings rather than machines and even better, folks who speak English. Thanks, Samsung and Quality!

A few years ago we had a Samsung microwave. We had to have it repaired when it was less than two years old. Repair cost about $200. Within a couple of months, the repair failed. Sorry, we guarantee our repairs for only 30 days. Thanks, Samsung. In December 2013, i.e., about 15 months ago we bought the RF323TEDBSR/AA 30 cu ft refrigerator because it had the size and features we wanted. It stopped working a week ago. Luckily, we have a 25-year old GE in the garage, still going strong. Repairman from Samsung came today. Oh, you have to order a $200 part. When you get the part, well come back and install it. Another $200 or more. Service stinks. Quality stinks.

Own a Samsung SMH9187ST microwave. In part picked from a Consumer Report rating. Thoroughly disappointed. Has been nothing but trouble. First the rack that came with the unit, caused an arcing/burning inside the unit - had to throw the rack out. Then the Magnetron failed (wouldnt heat), after much arguing with Samsung, they finally sent someone to replace it. Then had another issue with the unit functioning (of course just past the 1 year warranty part); had to replace the sensors at the door (my cost). Then we get the SE error - the remedies online dont work, so, only solution to replace the entire control panel?? This is an extremely poor design. SAMSUNG should not have sold this design. Third appliance of theirs that has been a major disappointment. I will never buy SAMSUNG again.

My microwave (SMH9207) that I never took out of the box until about two months ago has gotten this nice wonderful SE error code. Samsung refuses to fix the microwave. They also are saying I bought the microwave in 2010, but that isnt true. The executive slipped up and told me that they actually go by date of manufacture and add two months to it. Next they just keep saying that they are not going to fix this problem even though you can go look anywhere online and see that they are having problems with all the keypads on their microwaves. Next, the tech support people really dont want to transfer you to anyone higher than them. They are smart ** over that. They are not going to do anything for you. Plus, they act like robots and read off the stuff that they have on the screen, and thats all instead of being like real companies and standing behind their product. I refuse to ever buy anything from them again.

Add me to the list of very unhappy Samsung microwave customers. I had the same problem as everyone else in the same time frame. After just 2 years, the Samsung Microwave SMH9187b started beeping and flashing the SE error code. Samsung was no help, telling us to turn off the breaker. It never reset itself. Then they said they would cover the repair if it was the display but not if it was the box (brain) of the microwave. When I asked how we would know which it was, they said you wont until the repair people came out. Calling repair, they said it would be a minimum of $70 visit fee and $90 for the part. So that would be at least $160. Repair also said it is not the display, that the SE code means more than that. Im very disappointed with Samsung and am now looking for a new microwave. Anyone has any recommendations?

I have purchased this product (AR24HV5NBWKNNA) from Samsung Dealer in May 2014 and from the date of purchase Im not satisfied with the product. Installation of A/C was not proper as it took 12 hours by your engineer. Then in next year 2015 the A/C was not performing and called Samsung and executive visited and directly filled gas in warranty without inspecting the reason of leakage, and gradually after 3 months again cooling decreased. Also water leakage from indoor unit started immediately after refilling and now in current season when unit was started there was no cooling and when engineer visited on 1st call he immediately order a gas refilling without inspecting the reason for leakage. And so the second complaint was lodged and then that engineer inspected the actual reason for regular gas leakage i.e. leakage found in cooling coil which was the only reason for 1st time non cooling, which should have been searched and rectified in 2015 when the gas was refilled the first time. We were given an only option to replace to new cooling coil at our cost whereas I feel problem shouldnt have arised in the 1st year of purchase which I feel was not expected from the world leader brand like Samsung. Right now I and my Family uses Samsung brand TV, AC, refrigerator, phones, washing machine, microwave. Also further we have to install new units at my Factory and 2 Houses but now after experiencing such problem within a year I feel I should rethink over that. Also during water leakage from indoor unit my Indoor Wooden cabinet along with printer and mobiles were damaged. If you wish to see the leakage I have shot a video of it. Also, a suggestion. This kind of malfunction directly hits your Brand Reputation that how Samsung deals with its product Malfunctioning. I strongly request you to please look into this matter on priority as the season has started and there is a need to run the Air Conditioner. So replace the defective part or replace the whole unit.
