Product Reviews:

The logistics company delivered my Viking refrigerator to my house and drop
The logistics company delivered my Viking refrigerator to my house and dropped it off in my living room. They pushed it into the wall because its one of those built-in wall units. They didnt connect it or they connected it but it wasnt right. There was this bottom metal piece that was supposed to be installed. I asked the guys if they were supposed to do that. They said they were not allowed to install those for liability purposes. I would have to get somebody to do it. It cost me almost $500 to have a Viking specialist come out and install it.When the specialists came out, they said, “Your refrigerator’s not even drilled to the wall. Because if its not, what can happen is if you open the door, the whole thing could tip over and could crush you.” The guy said they were gonna secure it, which they did. That was a pain, to begin with. The refrigerator side works fine. But we noticed that the icemaker was really slow from day one. We went back and forth with the Viking warranty people and Build.com where I purchased the refrigerator from. They sent somebody out to fix it four times. After the last time, it still wasnt working right. It never would produce over 20 ice cubes. Every time they would come out, they would tell me to give it 24 to 48 hours and I would have a big bin full of ice cubes. That never happened. We had family over and birthday parties. I had to go to 7-Eleven and grab a bag of ice and stick it in my freezer. After paying $15,000, that doesnt make me happy.Build.com replaced the ice maker and its still not working right. They apologized and they went ahead and ordered me a new refrigerator. But that refrigerator is not going to arrive until April 2022 so Im stuck with this thing. It’s beautiful but it doesn’t make ice and the motor is really loud. I could have bought a car for that price I paid for the refrigerator so I want it to work 100%. Viking has been around for many years and they have beautiful products. After I placed the order with them versus Wolf, I happened to go online and I did some research and there are actually lots of really bad reviews. Viking is the least recommended. I have many regrets. I hate my refrigerator. We had issues with our other Viking products too like our stove and dishwasher.

Weve heard about Viking from friends since we moved to the US. The realtors also recommended them and told us that they were good for the reselling of the house. So, we went with Viking for their reputation and we bought a built-in refrigerator from them. We love its looks and the lights on the side, and how spacious and practical it is. A repair has already been done on it because there was a problem with the accumulation of ice in it, but that was dealt with promptly and professionally. So far, everything has been great with Viking.

We had a custom kitchen built in Texas that I’ve had Viking products. Of the high-end brands, they were the least expensive and they were very reliable. But the quality of their refrigerator is not great at all. I would’ve been better off going to Home Depot. We’re on our third fridge from Viking. The first fridge we bought, we were told that it was a floor model, brand new, so we bought that one. It was shipped to us and we installed it. Three months later it broke. I called the Viking service tech. There is only one service tech in the Colorado area, so it took a while for him to get to me. He opened up the back of the fridge and said that it is a used fridge and it’s not under warranty. He looked up the serial number and he found out that that fridge was actually already warrantied by Viking and it was supposed to be destroyed. Then Viking West Coast and Viking East Coast, the two corporate offices got into a pissing match on who was responsible for it. So we were caught in the middle of food that wasn’t cold… while they tried to figure out who was gonna warranty it because Viking West Coast said it’s already been warrantied and its not their problem because we bought it from an East Coast dealer. It eventually got up to one of the VPs at Viking corporate and they said Viking East Coast will take care of it. They sent me a replacement refrigerator that the shipper dropped off the back of the truck. And then we rejected that fridge. Then they told us, “I’m sorry but that was the last fridge in North America.” The next fridge was on a set of containers coming over from China. And that’s when I found out that Frigidaire made their fridge. I told them I’m not paying an extra thousand dollars for a Frigidaire then. We eventually got one that was supposed to be going to one of their preferred dealers to market. It was a new fridge - a new model, because they weren’t making the old model anymore. And it’s been working ever since.

We purchased Viking D2 line (french door refrigerator, double wall oven, cooktop and dishwasher) for our new home and we moved in in February 2013. We have had nothing but problems with these products. We reported the microwave in 2014 to the authorized dealer that we purchased from. The front fascia was coming off every time we opened the door. After over a year of dealing with Viking representative, he came out and glued the door back on. He glued it incorrectly and now the buttons are protruding into the sockets and the front panel is still buckling on the front. Since we did not have good luck with getting the microwave serviced, I have tried dealing with Viking directly on the rest of the products. Waste of time. Got a form letter response. The refrigerator bins have all broken, the ice maker gets plugged up regularly and doesnt make ice, the computer on the front panel of the refrigerator doesnt work and, consequently, the refrigerator freezes all of our fresh vegetables. The cooktop randomly doesnt heat, the top oven does not retain its temperature when there is more than one item in it, the dishwasher does not dry the dishes and doesnt clean them very well either. You have to practically wash them going in and then dry each and every one coming out.The Viking representative in my area is NOT customer service friendly and is difficult to work with. I have written two letters to Viking, contacted the place we purchased the appliances from multiple times and have gotten no satisfactory response. Now all of our products are out of warranty and no one wants to address the issues. I guess they dont care that I will NEVER purchase Viking products again. EVER. And, I am making it my mission to tell everyone I know not to waste money buying products from this supposed high-end products company. I purchased Viking thinking that paying extra for an American made product was important and that they would stand behind their products. Lesson learned.

For 11 LONG years I have struggled with my Viking Refrigerator/bottom drawer freezer. I have had numerous service calls. The freezer/refrigerator drains as it is supposed to but I have ice build up in the freezer. I have been defrosting it every two weeks with a hair dryer for many years. Viking has not been supportive at all and neither has Ferguson from where I purchased it. If a company sells a product, you would think you would have backup, especially since the appliances are so expensive. I have had problems with my Viking stove - wont lock. Problems with my under counter ice maker, problems with my wine cooler and problems with my stove. I keep living with them because they were so expensive and they look good - they just dont work well! Ive learned my lesson. I will never deal with Viking or Ferguson again.

I recently purchased a Viking dishwasher. Was in the in the middle of remodeling my kitchen. When I came to take the dishwasher out of the box it had a dent on the front door and the top right-hand side of the unit I called customer, and the lady told me they do not cover Freight damage. They will replace the door but not the unit. I go to install the unit and there is water coming out of the hose. I called customer service again and they told me they do not cover that and they can only replace the door. Thank you Viking.

Of the three Viking appliances I recently purchased, I love the range and dishwasher, however this is a 1-star review and that is due to the refrigerator having been nothing but problems. Viking sent a 3rd party repair person to correct the issue. Due to my location (apparently) it took the repair company 2 weeks to get out here, 5 weeks to order parts and another week to return. I live an hour outside of Pittsburgh and an hour from Cleveland, so the location really shouldnt be a problem. However, I waited 2 months to get the refrigerator fixed (it freezes our food - even when set to 37 degrees). The problem still persists. I called Viking Customer Care again today, and expressed my frustration not only with the quality of the product, but also the time it took (2 months) to get the repair parts installed and that didnt even fix the issue. I think Viking refrigerators are generally great, but I got a defective unit. And rather than send me a replacement unit (since weve already gone down the repair path). Viking is sending another repair technician to my home. The customer care representative, asked for my serial number. After providing it, she indicated that it wasnt valid - which she confirmed later on in our conversation that it was indeed correct. I also had to repeat my address several times. When she would look up a service option, and return to the screen she told me my address was gone. My appliances are all registered on Vikings website, why the customer care representative wasnt able to pull my information from that or from my previous support case seems counter-intuitive. For a supposed higher quality appliance, Im disappointed I wasnt provided higher quality of service. And I have to wonder how many times Ill be doing this until my refrigerator works as advertised, or until I give up and get rid of the unit. I NEVER had this issue with my Sub-Zero!

I heard Viking Ranges are the best of the best so I bought them. I like that the range heats up my food and makes simple food. Great quality, too. The installers were really sweet and nice, as well. One of my stoves couldn’t come out so they helped me get it out and put the new one in. And its a great experience.

The refrigerator makes some funny noises and Im a little concerned about how it would work if I ever have to have it repaired. But its not an issue that affects the cooling of the unit so its no big deal. For now, its working great and its aesthetically nice. Its a big block of steel and its pretty imposing. Its a good product.

We live in a small-town area and the closest dealer carried Viking ranges. Their rep showed me how the range worked. He had me pull the oven racks out to see how smooth and strong they worked and how the simmer on top would keep things warm but would not overcook the food. The range has five knobs. Four turns on the burners on top and one turns on the oven and sets the temperature. I like how simple it is and that it doesn’t have all the electronic gadgets in it. Also, I like the ball bearing racks in the oven and that all the burners are large burners on top.

My Viking refrigerator has lasted 10 years with three service calls mostly related to small things. Its great looking and it works well. The only complaint I have is the drawers within the refrigerator, such as the crisper drawer, all cracked and will need to be replaced. But they are very expensive to replace.

The builder selection for our new house was a Viking Model RVDR3301 Range. The range burners are very difficult to control and it is easy to overheat what you are cooking. The simmer functionality is very non-linear and if you’re not careful the burner will go out. Cleaning the range top requires dismantling the burners, which have some delicate parts. The oven temperature takes forever to preheat and the temperature varies quite a bit. Initially it would varied much as 50 degrees at 300 and the average temperature was off by 25 degrees. Even after two adjustments to correct the offset it still makes cooking delicate things like a cake difficult and everything seems to take longer to cook. The window in the oven door fogs up if you are cooking anything moist making it difficult to see what’s going on in the oven. And the chrome plating came off the oven racks and they needed to be replaced under warranty.

I have a lot of problems with Viking. The oven is really loud. When you set the temperature for 300, it goes to 300, and then it tries to go on and off just to maintain the temperature. I can hear that on and off sound -- the clicking and the sparks -- in the living room which is a good 30 or 40 feet away. I dont know if I have a faulty unit or thats the way its built. Also, the dishwasher doesnt really clean really well. Ive looked online and at the manual. I tried to tweak things like settings and gears. I also make sure I use rinse aid and high-quality detergents but there have been some issues. One more thing was the fridge. When I set it at a temperature like 37 degrees Fahrenheit, things start freezing in the back of the fridge. If I put a jar of olives towards the back of the fridge, it gets frozen. These are very expensive appliances and theyre considered high-end, but I dont feel like I have that quality in them. Ive had a Frigidaire fridge in my garage and Ive had it for about seven years, and thats working perfectly. I dont think I would recommend Viking but that could change. Ive been meaning to contact support and once I get in touch with them and they can help me resolve these issues, I think maybe it would be different.

I had to have someone keep coming out. They techs came pretty quickly but then I had to keep having to wait for parts and COVID. They came at least 3 times to change parts and I wasnt able to use the freezer part of the refrigerator for six months. Finally, I had to get another refrigerator. I wouldnt ever go and purchase a Viking appliance myself.

We got a nice Viking oven and my wife wanted a Viking fridge next to it. Ive had many fridges in my life. But with this fridge, they’re coming out the sixth time to try to repair it and they’re kind of slow to get it. I threw out two batches of food. I had ruined my cabinet and my floor since it leaked water all over it. I have asked Viking if they can fix that or if I have to pay for myself. The whole kitchen is brand new. This fridge came in a year ago with the whole brand new kitchen, new floors and new cabinets. I have never had a product this bad in my life. I thought I would be paying for quality but either I got really unlucky or something else is wrong.

I purchased Viking appliances in November 2009 - dishwasher, refrigerator, stove. My dishwasher has not been working since the beginning of July 2013 despite 4 visits by a tech and numerous phone calls to the extended warranty company and Viking. It was also repaired in 2010 and 2011. My refrigerator is also on its third repair and is failing to keep a consistent temperature... It is either freezing food or else keeping food in the 40-42 degree range. These are marketed as Professional appliances and certainly do not live up to this reputation. I discourage all consumers from purchasing Viking appliances... They come with a hefty price tag and leave the consumer frustrated, disillusioned and dissatisfied.

Viking Refrigerators has a good reputation and so far the quality of the brand-new refrigerator I received is good. I bought the refrigerator from H. H. Gregg who ended up going out of business so I had some problems in the beginning with delivery. I also ran into some issues with the sales department at Viking not sending somebody out to fix the door right away when the door wasnt closing properly. It was a handle that was loose and it wasnt anything I could fix myself. It had to be done by an appliance repair person. But once I got the refrigerator in the house and everything was up and running Viking was good about coming out and having an appliance repair person come out right away. Also the design is good. The French door-- its a convenient arrangement. You can access the drawers with only one drawer open so you dont let as much of the cold air out. Also the buttons that you push to change the temperature up and down are easily accessible and it is great. I also have a brand-new Viking dishwasher and an under counter refrigeration unit so I have three major appliances through them. Viking has been good overall.

We like the price and quality of Viking. Their salesperson was great, too. However, we had some issues with delivery where some of the product was damaged. The microwave was damaged twice, but they replaced it. And the quality of the Viking range is great. We bought an extended warranty which we havent used yet. The one knob on the range currently sticks. But we havent called to have it checked out yet. But the range works well. I also like the shelf inside the range that slides out and in, and that the stove heats up so good that I can save dollars for the heat. We were so used to Kenmore products where I had to keep everything wide open to cook. Viking range is super. I couldnt ask for anything better. We also bought one of their first refrigerators. But the refrigerator we bought hadn’t been manufactured yet, so we had to wait about a month before we got our refrigerator.

Four years ago, we were redoing our kitchen and I saw the Viking refrigerator at the appliance store we were at. At the time, Viking seemed to have a better warranty. The Viking refrigerator is a good product and were pleased with its quality. It does a good job keeping things fresh longer than our previous refrigerator. It was a little difficult though to get the Viking reps on service when we had to get the refrigerator serviced, but they eventually got around to it. I had to wait over a week for an appointment. And then, they had to order a part which actually never came in. And so, after about six weeks, they ultimately replaced the refrigerator rather than try to find a part. They did the right thing in the end.

I went to SR Appliances and I wanted something more high grade than Samsung, LG or anything like that. Im very familiar with Viking and other brands but Viking stood out better to me in terms of price and value. SR Appliances was great to work with. I bought the range ahead of time. I picked it up and installed it along with my contractor. And then shortly after that, because we were going through some renovation, we didn’t want the range delivered until we were done. But the installation went well. The range is consistent and it cooks great. The BTUs in all the burners work great and cook evenly. I bake a lot and it just performs well. We went to a showroom in Reno, New Jersey and we also saw some from P.C. Richards. We did some research online to know what models we like then, we went to the showroom and ordered Viking. Their reps were all good as they know their products. We talked about what we wanted and they gave us a number of options and recommended all the different products. They gave us the pros and cons of each and the price point too. It was informative. However, we had a couple of issues. We ordered a professional range with a Viking label on it. So, we called the person and complained about it. Then, they sent out someone to fix it and it was fixed yesterday. Also, the LED light was not working on one of the double French ovens for some reason but the oven was working. The guy who did he fix said he would submit another ticket for us to order the part then they will come to fix it. Other than that, the quality of my Viking is good. We were replacing our old Thermador and I assumed Viking was a fairly good product. I like the look of them but I’m a little disappointed. It is not very good and I would tell others to rethink their decision to buy one. My oven has been installed for two months and I have had repairmen here for the last two months as well. Hinges on the oven were bent. They finally came and fixed that. But they had to get the feet for the oven because they didn’t have them when they installed the oven. Now, I’m having a problem with my burners. It has taken me two visits and they’re still not fixed. And every time they come out, there is a time period in between of two weeks. Then the repairman was telling me today that it is going to take probably another two weeks. When he came out previously, he seemed to have been of the forethought that what he was being told was not gonna fix it. And yet, he was still told to come out here and do it. So he came out here and did he was told but it still didn’t work. Now, they have to order all new burners. Its just ongoing after two months. It’s been a roundabout, circular motion here with this whole thing. I was very angry to begin with but now, I don’t even know anymore. It’s two months and $10,000, and I haven’t really even used the oven. Viking also needs to be more responsive. Initially, they kept calling to ask if everything was good and I kept saying no. It was great that they called but then it wavered and petered out. Viking has dropped off as far as calling to see if anything has been done and now, it’s me dealing with the repair people.

Many of the parts are not unique to Viking and the overall quality is poor. The ice makers seizes up and burns out. Viking did not install a heat trace to keep the water line from freezing. Our refrigerator is very convenient, large, and has good quality. The only thing I dont like about it is that adjusting the temperature, which is two little controls up on the top, is not very clear and it doesnt read out the exact temperature, just has these little bars. So, it takes a lot of time to figure out how to use it, how to set it, and get it to the right temperatures. At the very bottom, it freezes up and the water gets into the drain in the back on the bottom and we once had to thaw it out ourselves. Another time, we had to call a repair person cause there was no way for us to do it. If only they have as many other refrigerators have where you set the temperature and it shows you what its set for and what its actually reading, and I would make sure that they have improved the heating unit that would prevent the drain in the freezer from freezing.

The purchase part was easy. But we went through three different units before we got the right one. The first one was defective. Theres a piece called a bullnose, thats where the knobs are on the front, and it wasnt seated properly on the range, and the door was crooked. The whole thing was shifted to one side. It was minor, but at that price point, it needs to be nearly perfect. And that took nine months to get. The second one came two and a half months later and it was also defective. It had some quality problems on it. It showed up, we pulled it out of the box, and the installer took it back. The third one came two months after that and thats the one we have and its fine. Its an electric oven. The temperature is off by 25 degrees. So, we bought our own thermometer that we keep installed inside of it so that we get a bit more accurate readout. Other than that, everything else has been great. It looks good. It works well.

We made a big city-to-city move and bought a new home in another city. A key feature of which was a custom high-end kitchen renovation of which these Viking appliances are a core feature and part of the financial value of the decision to purchase this home. Weve never had high-end appliances in our past because we couldnt afford them nor did we really think we needed them. The appliances were professionally installed as part of a kitchen renovation by the previous owners, purchased new, and they were less than four years old when we moved in. Its a Viking Professional, 48-inch wide range which is one of very few of that width, and a very high Viking Professional refrigerator. We moved in mid-2015 and were approaching two years in the home. Ive had six service calls and multiple, very expensive parts replacements in the Viking gas range and the oven has not worked since we moved in. Initially, it turned on but the front panel was overheating excessively to the point where you had to put oven mitts on to turn the knobs. It was that hot. Also, when we first moved in, we had trouble with the refrigerator initially and I hadnt really noticed because we were busy moving in and doing a lot of take-out. I also didnt notice the problem with the oven until a month or so in.Now that Im looking back on it, what happened is our local service partner - who is a Viking certified partner and is one of the top family-owned appliances repair companies in the entire city with a very good reputation - has told me repeatedly that there is no telephone number which their service partners can call. They have to email as the only way to communicate with the parts department but Im assuming that with Viking as a provider or manufacturer, they had a parts plant here in Canada. First the service guy said there are problems like the door wasnt fitting perfectly flushed and he thought because of the clients who had problems with the door hinges that if we replace those it might seal the unit better and therefore address the overheating issue because he wasnt getting any error codes at that time when he did a scan of the electronics inside the oven. He decided to do that and he also ordered a griddle and the main knob, which I knew was gonna be an expensive part. I figured it would be about $600, plus labor and it was. It had been chipped and sheared off by the previous owner when they installed the kitchen. They sheared it off with a piece of granite for the counter when they were doing the renovation so, I knew that was gonna be expensive, but that has nothing to do with the ongoing issue. We replaced the hinges and another small component. Those parts took six months to arrive. Every month, I was calling the local service partner and after the second or third month, because I didnt wanna push, I thought maybe theyre back ordered. It turned out that Vikings parts plant in Canada and the whole manufacturing facility plus customer service had moved to the United States across the border at the same time that our parts order went in. Not only that but by the time they identified that Viking had actually lost the order six months later, they claimed they never received it. The customer service call center had moved to a second US location like within a years time so, there were multiple communication operational issues on the Viking end.By the third time, I asked them to call Viking parts and escalate this because Ive been with no oven for two months and the first $1,000 repair didnt do anything. The lady insisted that there was no way to do that. They dont have a phone number like the technicians and if theyre on site and they need to talk to a Viking technical support personnel, they have a phone number they can call. But between the service partners and the parts department, its only by email. We waited six months and we identified the issue four months later. They sent another email and Viking finally replied and said they dont have any orders for those two parts. They replaced the order for both parts in month four and its like they should have those parts within a couple of weeks. But two weeks later, I hadnt heard from the local partner. So, I called them and learned that the second part is on back order and it wont be ready for six weeks. When those parts finally came, the technician was very good, knowledgeable and he has a lot of experience, which is rare out there with Viking. He replaced the parts, tested it and it seemed to be okay. The very next day, I was all excited so I bought a roast. Within about an hour to an hour and 15, I noticed the oven had shut off automatically and would not restart. At the same time, when the panel would overheat if you tried to use the top of the range to make potatoes and vegetable or if the oven had shut off and was overheated, the gas range atop would not ignite like a safety shut off feature so, I couldnt make a meal. Then, he came and replaced another major component and not only did it shut off but it started to not even ignite in the first place. You wouldnt hear the click before the gas engages and it would not start at all. So, I called the local service partner back and he said that they had built a cooling fan which wasnt part of the original design. But it seemed to resolve the overheating and the spark module most of the time in the repair environment. Sometimes, they cover it for some customers if they complained enough. So, I spent two weeks going back and forth with a very nice customer care warranty person because its out of warranty four or five years later, but its a newer appliance. These things are like $15,000 and thats like a car. Given how young it was when we bought it as part of the home and the cost of the thing, I wont do it. Even if I was a gazillionaire, just on principle, I wont do it nor can we afford to and nothing else will fit in that space either because its a custom kitchen designed around these appliances. I think there are only three 48-inch wide ranges that would fit into that space, gas ranges that are even available from any manufacturer. Finally, I had to fight because the previous owner hadnt registered it. She said she cant do anything for me because they dont recognize a registration for warranty purposes of the original purchase. I went to the package with all the receipts the previous owner left with us for all the renos and purchases and found the bills from where they purchased. I was on hold with the warranty department for more than 45 minutes and I work full time, after all of this for a year and a half. I called her back and I asked if there is a fast track that she could help me out with because I was on hold for 45 minutes and I had called before calling her. I called back a second to the number she gave to me in case I got disconnected and waited another half an hour and I was just getting frustrated. I figured out for myself on their website that I could do it online because I had the receipt and the serial number and the date and all the information required. So, I did it online myself and then called the customer service person back and told her that it was done. She said that now that its registered, shes going to ask their regional service manager for Canada who works with Canadian providers if they will, as an exception given what Ive been through, still cover the cooling unit to go with the spark module. I dont know how much the cooling thing would be but its probably another $500. Weve spent about $4,000 or $5,000 on these appliances in 17 months and theyre less than five years old. Thats parts and labor and the labor is like nothing compared to the cost of the parts. So, she said shes gonna ask for an exception under the circumstances.I waited and it was 10 days or two weeks later that I got a voicemail message from her letting me know that their service manager has declined to cover it back for me. Im usually a fairly reasonable, calm person, but I was like going up straight. I got really angry and I called her back and as calmly and politely as I could, I told her I dont think shes being reasonable. Not her personally but the process and the disconnected communication. I would like for their regional sales manager to please talk to my local technician from their service partner directly so they can understand the history. Then, he might make a more favorable decision. Eventually, the technician had to send a big detailed ticket of the most recent part replacement that he did, his idea of the diagnostics and circumstances and what his recommendation was. They talked on the phone together and it was approved right away.My impression right now of Viking as a manufacturer and the post-sale service is not positive. Ive worked in the network telecom business most of my career. Customer market facing and I know a lot about manufacturing, about different types of business operations and customer service but Ive never seen something this bad in my entire life. Until I see it given, what Ive experienced so far, I have no confidence that this repair part replacement will address the issue. Id really like them to ship me a brand new replacement oven, in working order, and install it for me cause at this point, I think we have a lemon. I feel its a defective unit and it should probably be replaced.I dont want what happened to us to happen to other people. I had seen the negative reviews because of the problems that we were having from the beginning and if we had known this, we might not have even purchased this house. I would recommend pretty much any other brand. Thats a lesson Ive learned from this manufacturer.

Viking had a real good reputation and it’s considerably more expensive than others so we expected a lot more from it. But right now, were on the fence about it. We found out the range was damaged when it was installed and we had the local vendor, AllSouth, come out and look at it to see what the deal was. They said it could be fixed and it could be 5,000. But even if we replaced it, they were somewhat reluctant to say they feel safe with the internal portion of the gas part of it. That made us still somewhat reluctant to use it.They handed it off to Viking and Viking did not call us back so we had to call them and they apologized. They said they were sorry the other guy didnt call us back and that they have cameras that look at the production process so it couldn’t have been on their part. But the end result is we paid almost $7,200 for the range and its damaged. Im not real happy with Viking and I was real disappointed with them. If I had to do it over again, I would not go with them. Its been somewhat of an uphill battle with Viking and AllSouth and were hoping that it will be rectified.

We had a wonderful experience with their dealer, and we got a refrigerator, a microwave, a dishwasher and the hood and the oven. Our Viking Microwave was 5 years old when it stopped working. We had an authorized service person come to fix it, at great cost - more than most new microwave ovens cost - but within six weeks it was broken again. We got the same repair service in, but again it broke. Now we need to pay for the company to pick up the microwave and fix it - all on our dime. When I suggested it wasnt worth it, the service guy agreed - especially as it only costs $1400 to buy a new one! - #nomoreviking.

When I renovated my kitchen in 2007, I purchased the Viking Professional Series dishwasher, fridge and gas top stove. IVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH ALL OF THEM. After spending $11,000.00+ for these three appliances (that came highly recommended by the salesperson at a large, high end appliance store), I expected a good quality product to don my newly renovated dream kitchen... WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!Initially, the appliances all Sat in their boxes until my kitchen renovation was completed about 6 months after my purchases. Several months after installing the appliances, the DISHWASHER broke... the water would not drain properly. Viking repair man fixed, then happened again about a year later. I asked Viking rep to replace product since same issue was re-occurring and appeared to be a pre-existing problem. I was told no; that since the dishwasher was still under warranty they would send another repair man. Fixed again... then same thing happened again within a year... except now (even though they Sat unopened in boxes first the 6 months) the warranty was over.I was told the diverter valve needed replaced, and it would cost over $600.00 to repair!!! I was beside myself, I called Viking and said this was ridiculous since this was a pre-existing problem and I should not have to pay for repair. Well we all know their response... Cant help as no longer under warranty. A frightening and dangerous feature of the GAS STOVE TOP is the design of the on/off knobs. I am all of 110 lbs, and sometimes when I lean forward to stir a pot on a back burner, the pressure from my body will actually turn the flame from the front burner on!!! Also, periodically when I turn one burner on, one of the burners that is off will make a clicking noise. The REFRIGERATOR water dispenser broke after the first year. Later had troubles with the ice maker bar getting stuck in the on position, and more recently the clear plastic on the large pull out drawer cracked. Finally, the other day the refrigerator just stopped working - like it went into a defrost mode - ruined all frozen foods, and most of the refrigerated items. I called the store where I purchased the Vikings to see if maybe the refrigerator was still under warranty - they said no. I mentioned all the troubles I have had with these products, and the sales representative said they stopped carrying Viking products. I think that says it all!!!The repairman came, said it was the poorly designed freon line which was directed into a drip pan (for cooling purposes) causing the line to rust/corrode, and consequently leak the freon. He was surprised to see this since he said, running the line in this manner was stopped years ago. The repair was estimated at $600.00 to replace the line, but possibly $1000.00+ if other related problems were found. The repair man said probably better to cut my losses and go with a more reliable refrigerator like GE, Kenmore or Whirlpool - rather than throwing good money after bad. Like many I want to repair since cheaper than buying new... but based on reading these postings, and past repair experiences... Im afraid of getting burned once again. Being stuck between a rock and a hard place. :(I would NEVER, ever recommend buying these overly expensive appliances built with their cheap parts, and poor design features. I feel like I spent a lot of money and never received a good return on my hard earned dollars. Should be illegal. Guy who mentioned a class action suit may be on to something.

We bought it from an outlet store where they receive overstock, stuff that people ordered and didn’t like it or something that had been discontinued. We know and we like Viking so we go Viking all the way. We have two stoves, one gas, one electric, a microwave, and a dishwasher. Theyre easy to use and everythings upfront. Everything else we buy these days, including a car, comes with a tutorial on DVDs and 48-page pamphlets just to introduce the other pamphlets. But Viking we just look at it and there it is. Our Viking refrigerator is only a few days old and so far its been fine compared to the other one, which was a disaster. Its very steady and has a door alarm. In case I get caught in a fugue like state I can always be reminded by the alarm. And everythings uniform in terms of refrigeration throughout the compartment, which we like. I also like that it has a barrier bar between in the back of the right hand door so when we’re closing it it really seals. The ice maker is good. We can turn it off if we dont want it and there are no issues about leaks and going into trays. It is very self-contained and efficient. The Viking dealer have very friendly folks. They told us about others brands, more for contrast. They didn’t try to sell us anything else. Once they saw we were going Viking they reinforced things and they were very efficient. There was a lot of communication. They called us back and forth. The driver with the appliance had called us three times telling about his route. They did exactly what they said they were going to do, price wise and in terms of the delivery date and the people who brought it in. The delivery folks were great. They spent over an hour leveling things and they did a great job. They were very careful and neat and one of the best deliveries weve had since we were here. The only thing that Id have to get used to is the bottom drawer which is a long drawer and gives good storage for the cold zone but theres nothing about that that we use right now. Although I could see for the future we might be loading different sorts of perishables in there. We have to open both doors to get that lower drawer open. Its not a problem it just culturally I hadnt been doing that. And should a friend ask me about Viking refrigeration I’d say, “If youre rich, get it.”

I’ve known about Viking Refrigerators for years and I purchased from them because of the warranty. I’m happy overall with the fridge, but I expected a little better quality of the drawer pull-outs and the freezer. They’re kind of flimsy. Also, during the purchasing process, I had a horrible experience as it took forever to get the fridge purchased. It was not a streamlined process. And when we were having this horrendous noise, we ended up having to go back to the store two or three times before they would finally send somebody out. It turned out that their delivery people left a big cardboard in the back which was causing the problems. All we had to do was remove it. I also wish the fridge had a water dispenser.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased a full set of Viking appliances. They were installed in early November 2016. Shortly after install our wall oven started getting an F3 error (totally out of commission). We called Viking and waited more than a week for a response. Once I spoke with the repairman, he said, Im not sure why Viking provided you with my contact info. I dont support your area. Were on the Eastside of Seattle in between 7 large metropolitan areas. This happened two more times before we actually got connected with a repair company that supported Viking and our area. The repair company came out, and had to order two parts. The parts took more than 2 weeks to order so consequently we had no oven for the holidays. Two weeks after the parts were installed, the same issue (error code F3) happened again (completely out of commission).Again, called Viking; no response. Called the repair company that helped previously (they are great, btw) and they came out and now ordered the same 2 parts and have to wait until 2/23 for them to be delivered (today is 2/14). I asked Viking about what happens next. They said, they are not sure why Im upset with them... They have to go through this process for the warranty. After they reinstall these parts for a second time and if the error comes back, then they may consider extending our warranty. They may consider? What about replacing the oven for one that actually works? How long are we supposed to live without an oven. They dont care. Moral of the story; dont buy Viking. Not worth the money and they provide terrible customer service.

I was familiar with the Viking brand and it felt that I like the quality better than the alternative brand. The only problem is that its supposed to be fixed. The knobs that turn the gas on and off don’t pop out as they should. Some of them are maybe defective and even the ones that appear to work well really aren’t very good. The other day I was walking by it and I had a shoulder bag and it swung and just bumped against the range. And the gas went on full blast and flames were coming up about a few inches. So it literally turned on the whole stove by just swinging against it, which is concerning for everyone. I’ve never experienced that with the other range before so I would definitely redesign that system to be safer.

I had a KitchenAid that was four years old prior to having my first Viking Refrigerator, and I had nothing but problems with their refrigerators. The Viking Refrigerator is beautiful. It was the only one that looked built-in and looked really like a professional grade refrigerator with the handles. It looks good in my kitchen and it cools the food. That’s top-of-the-line so I was expecting it to be quiet but that’s not the case. The actual noise that comes out of that refrigerator is absolutely unacceptable and terrible. Its super high pitched, like a whistling sound. Its the loudest refrigerator Ive ever had. Ive had two people come out and look at it and they weren’t very helpful. One was here for five minutes and said, “No, that’s just the compressor. No, its a little bit louder than most but that’s just normal.” That was it and then he left. I had three homes and several different refrigerators and for them to act like it was normal but mine was a little bit louder than the rest made me wonder if there was really something wrong with it. Even my husband said that weve spent almost $4,000 on this fridge and its super loud. Im just going to have to live with it and maybe down the line, if it doesn’t break in, then Im going to have them come back out. And Id tell others not to buy one because they might get a loud one like mine.

I paid over 5K for this American-made range (ordered March 2018). I expected the quality to be top-notch. Not only does the sheet metal have stress cracks, many screws were loose and stripped out, the unit is not square and fits the space like a rhombus, but the door wont even close right. A third-party tech looked at it and simply commented that hed seen much worse come out of their factory. The side panel overlaps the rear panel, so that the gas line wont fit in the slot described on the installation diagram. This extra piece had to be trimmed off by me! The porcelain coating is abraded on one of the 3 grate supports, and the grates themselves had numerous casting flaws that had to be ground down, or additional severe scratching would have occurred. Burner assemblies are stamped China. The oven cycles about every 2 minutes, and when it does only runs for about 8 seconds - I understand that this means the temp. is more stable, but also feel this contributes to shortening the life of various components. Ive partially blocked the ridiculously large vent holes, which helps considerably. Im still waiting for the 24 high shelf - ordered 7 weeks ago - still on back order. After contacting Viking, I received a nice reply that theyre going to forward my concerns to their quality control dept. How does that help me? My advice - try another brand. It seems Vikings quality control is currently non-existent. Maybe Wolf?

Second failing of self cleaning feature on a dual gas/electric Viking Range that I bought specifically so that I could have gas plus electric self cleaning. The range is 11 years old and Ive infrequently used the self cleaning, perhaps 7 times at the most. First repair in 2009 cost $700 and now it is broken again. At this rate, self cleaning is costing $100+ per use. When I complained the first time about the outrageous repair cost to Viking, they figuratively shrugged their shoulders. I have another complaint in again. I would not recommend this range in particular and I would be hesitant to buy any Viking appliance without careful review.

We liked what we had heard about Viking then we have a friend that put in a Viking and we liked the setup of it. We got the built-in refrigerator and its not as deep as a regular refrigerator, which we like because things dont get lost in the back of it, but its taller. We like the door, the freezer section in the bottom, and the way that the drawers are self-closing. We can arrange them to where we have a place at the bottom that we can put platters into or a pizza box or whatever we want to. We also like the fact that everything was made out of metal. Aside from the refrigerator, we also got the French door double oven, the six burner cooktop with the griddle and thee optional griddle, the vent hood, two warming drawers, and a microwave, from Viking. We love the quality of our Viking appliances and we would recommend them highly.

We’ve had Viking for years and thats the reason we got them the second time. We like the stove for the way it’s set up. The refrigerator’s open a lot and the temperatures on it have always stayed the same unless it’s real hot out. The new one has got the LEDs in it, which is nice. The doors in it are a little bit nicer than the old ones we had. We bought the items over the internet and it was real good. At this day and age, it seems like most of the time you buy something, it’s good for three years, and it goes to hell on you. We try to buy quality, and it shows. Viking has been a good product. The stainless steel is nice. The only thing we didn’t have last time was a dishwasher. This time we bought one. My wife had used the dishwasher once and it worked good. It’s real quiet.

We purchased an expensive D3 series Viking oven thinking that paying a LOT more (than ie a Samsung or Kitchen Aid) will offer us a lot better product. WRONG!!Yesterday midnight we heard a loud noise in the kitchen. Short story we went to the kitchen and found the décor front oven black glass on the floor shattered in a thousand tiny pieces (the oven was off!). We babied this oven and it has low use!! I mean we babied it like our own eyes!!I called several places that carry Viking authorized parts to replace the glass at my expense (even though I am most sure this was a defect on the glass that on the long run stressed out) and I was SHOCKED to hear that this is a special order that the factory no longer makes. SO I am now stuck with an originally $4,000+ boat anchor that we cannot use due to the fact that Viking, supposedly a very high end American manufacturer decided not to sell replacement parts anymore. I have had several other ovens during the course of my life. MUCH lower priced i.e Samsung that NEVER - EVER had an issue getting service, replacement parts and certainly not a single one had a glass explode on its own. This is TOTAL GARBAGE - stay away from this manufacturer and buy other appliances. UNHEARD OF!!!

The product (Viking VGIC 3054BSS gas range) was flawed from the day it was delivered. Factory installed one natural gas orifice and one LPG orifice. This company has no regard for its owner base. Try calling to ask for technical information: its basically, Go to hell, we dont care if it doesnt make us money. There is nothing that would make me want to recommend any product from Viking. Frankly, I think either FTC or CPSC should investigate. Who owns this company and what in the world makes them think they can stiff owners the way they do?

The ice cube crusher/cube maker has broken twice. The first time it was still under warranty but it took over a month for the company to send a repairman. The second time that the ice crusher/cube maker broke, it was just out of warranty. The very rude Viking phone representative said that the part (ice cube tray with auger) was back ordered for over 3 months due to the faulty design of the unit noting that the plastic parts keep breaking. The cost of this plastic until was ~$450.00!!! We reinstalled it and it still doesnt work. What a piece of **. I would never recommend purchasing this professional refrigerator/freezer. Back in 2003 we remodeled our kitchen and put in Viking appliances and we have nothing but trouble with all. The only appliance that was not Viking was the microwave because at the time Viking did not make them. We have not had any trouble with the microwave except to replace a light bulb. The refrig has had to have 3 ice makers and the door needed 2 new sets on hinges and appears to wearing out again and there is concerns of the door falling off, the convertible meat savor drawer has had repairs done to drawer glides multiple times and still not working properly. Just in the last week the refrig evaporator and compressor went out and I have a quote to fix it for over $1500. The cooktop we have had to replace the stainless trim around the glass once and it is in need of replacing again. The oven clock, timer or the self-cleaning has not worked since the time we bought the appliance. The dishwasher has worked but the control panel on the inside of the door has cracked and it has holes on the panel from what appears to be dry rot. To replace all these appliances would cost well over $15000 this does not include the cost to have someone install. Furthermore the refrig, dishwasher have wood panels on them to match the rest of the kitchen cabinets and Im not sure whether these cabinets and the color can be recreated without costing thousands more. For a product that promotes itself as being a top of the line company I would have to rethink my branding.

I like that the Viking ranges construction and the reports that I’ve seen about it, and being six burners with an extra-large oven made it a perfect match for the kitchen. The craftsmanship of the range that I got is beautiful and everything is enclosed. It has the proper sparkers to hook up the gas and the electric. And the burners are fantastic but Viking really did a great job on the engineering of the simmer. It’s beautiful. And I like that I can take the knobs off and wash them. Theyre metal and looks like they’re gonna be there for a long time.I bought my Viking range through ABT Electronics in Chicago. And the packaging was perfect and it came perfectly protected. Their giveaway, the Viking dishwasher, also helped me with the purchase and further rebates in another order is always a nice thing to have. All in all, the Viking range is a great product. And from what I’ve seen, it is really nicely engineered with all heavy cast iron components and burners, the knobs, and the interior enforcement. I haven’t seen a product that’s like this yet and the simmer is adjustable and its really nice that I can put it up or down. The range sits off the floor, too, so I can sweep underneath.

The fridge model that we got does not have an in-door ice maker. We hate that the ice gets everywhere in the ice maker in the freezer, and it even gets underneath and falls out. I’ve seen Viking Ranges around, and Ive seen them evolve into a more sophisticated product than they were originally. They are robust, close to commercial in quality and performance, but have the benefit of being thoughtful of a residential home. They have convection, high heat, and different things one might want, like a broiler and a griddle, and you may or may not want it. And they have stood the test of time. I had a Garland for 25 years. It was commercial and rugged, but it didnt keep up.The reps were not knowledgeable at the store that I bought it at. But they were not unfriendly. I came prepared, having done my homework. And I felt a little rushed. But too bad for me, you have to have tough feelings. I had an insurance plan and something went wrong. And the insurance wasnt the easiest thing to work out. It was hard to get them and to get help. That was a little slippery. The irony of it all is my electrician rewired the kitchen and they had switched the neutral. The stove knew it, and was misbehaving, and we thought it was the stove. The people in Brooklyn who fixed it, top shelf. They could have told me anything. They diagnosed the truth. “You got the wrong polarity, fix it”. We fixed it, but the stove was never broken. That is more important to me than the sales people by a mile. Viking has excellent factory trained technicians. Love that. The reason I bought the Viking was it has a smart sensor. If the flame went out, it knew, and it lighted it. I was stunned at that. It may have been around a long time, but I didnt know about it. So it has everything I’ve seen in lots of places, but it has a smart technology that is lifesaving. It’s fantastic. The caveat is weve had it a few years. The quality is good, and the performance is excellent. We rattle the doors, turn the knobs and spill things just like anybody else. And so far, its just humming along. I would recommend that stove in a heartbeat. And this is a person who had a Garland for a long time.

We bought a Viking refrigerator 15 years ago. We purchased a new refrigerator to replace one that wasnt working anymore. We had no choice but to buy another Viking because we invested in cabinetry and it’s the only thing that would fit. However, it doesnt fit even if the specs said it would. It was a disappointment. The current model is two inches deeper than the original side by side that fit in the 24-inch cabinet. Viking would not take it back but the appliance company would, but we had looked at other side-by-side models. We would have had to use a stainless and our panel wouldn’t fit. In addition, nobody makes a counter depth refrigerator anymore. Wed have to invest in the columns to do that, and they’re significantly more expensive. We’re stuck with the Viking refrigerator. Also, they gave us a deal and we had gotten a dishwasher for free that came along with the refrigerator. Vikings specs need to be more accurate in terms of calling something counter depth when it’s really not counter depth. The refrigerator freezes things on the top shelf. Then we had a hinge problem. We had people out of here twice to fix the hinges. The door is also extremely heavy and has a metal compartment on the door. And it’s much heavier than the other unit. Although its a great refrigerator, I’m not enamored with Viking products. I also own a second Viking, a 36 inch with a lower freezer, which is still working after 15 years.

We got a Viking refrigerator that was a brand new floor model even though I’m a die-hard Sub-Zero girl and I only like Sub-Zero. If I would have paid about $10,000, then I wouldn’t have been super thrilled. Then during delivery, we got a leaking seal on the freezer that we needed to deal with. But I haven’t dealt with that yet and I’m assuming that’s under warranty. Also, if they were gonna sell a $10,000 fridge, then they have to make sure that it has dual compressors where one gets the fridge and the freezer. So while I’m not super happy with the Viking, its overall quality of the refrigeration is good. My produce seems to keep not quite as long as the Sub-Zero but the Viking is better than a standard refrigerator one buys at Home Depot. The lighting is also very bright and good.

We moved into a new house and wanted to get a new cooking range. We bought one from Viking, which is our second Viking range, and its all gas. Its the smallest of the 500 series and 30 inches in size. I like the way it works for the most part and the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of electronics on the front. The soft-closed door and the roller-bearing shelves are nice, too. The quality of our new range is pretty good. However, we’ve had two real and serious issues in the last six weeks that we’ve owned it. The first problem was that the cooling fan had a bad bearing. It was making a total racket and it was an issue right out of the box. But Kimball Electronics, one of Vikings factory authorized dealers, was able to replace the cooling fan. The second issue was that the oven would not light and it was very temperamental about getting the spark for the oven. But Kimball Electronics fixed that this week by putting in a new orifice where the gas comes into the oven and adjusting the air so the spark could ignite without spreading gas all over the kitchen. Kimbal Electroniics have been great and so far, we have been very pleased with Viking. We have been for many years and with our new range. Ive known Viking for decades. They were offering a rebate on the refrigerator so I went with them. I also had a free refrigerator and the range hood with blower, which made my purchase more enticing. Without them, I might have bought the unit from Sub-Zero and Wolf. I bought it from the Better Housekeeping over in Red Bank and the people I have dealt with were great. But the unit has a poor design and if I had to do it again, I will not purchase this refrigerator. The spring on one of the doors has a sound and the ice tray was poorly made because on the first week I pulled it out and the handle snapped right off. The magnet of the butter tray on top isnt good and every time I pull the refrigerator, if I have a stick of butter inside, it falls out. Also, compared to a regular KitchenAid, which are the deeper refrigerators, Viking units are more counter depth, so in terms of storage there isn’t a lot of cubic feet in there to use. With my particular model, there are four trays for produce and those trays are much smaller so I can’t really put a lot of stuff in there.I also have the Professional Series for the oven, which is the one with the French door. Even though it’s a beautiful look, it’s really stupid that it’s said to be self-cleaning but because there’s no latch for the French doors, it’s not the same kind of self-cleaning at the lower oven. It’s just like a steam clean kind of effect and stuff like grease doesnt come off. I also already had a problem with our blower on the fan where it was making a lot of noise and I’ve already had a service call on it. So to spend what I totally paid, which is at $25,000 for my entire kitchen, I really shouldn’t be expecting or experiencing problems like these within the first year. These are high-end products, and it’s a professional series, so it’s very disappointing.

We wanted high-end kitchen appliances so we were looking at either Viking or Sub-Zero Wolf. We wanted to make sure that all of our appliances match so we went with Viking. Weve had the range for about a month now and so far, no issues. I feel like its pretty high quality, although when I put it on simmer or very low heat, it tends to lose the flame, so it is hard and I have to really adjust. I cant go all the way low or it will flame out, and it halts my cooking. Other than that, were happy with the oven. It definitely feels sturdy from the knobs to the door. It seems like its well put together so I appreciate that. I havent had issues with cooking. It seems to have a pretty strong flame and for everything that we are using it for, it is doing the trick. The infrared boiler is really nice. I just have to get used to it because it would get very hot. We burned a couple of things and we realized how powerful it was.We had an issue with the fridge. The right door that has the little piece that is supposed to move when shutting it so it can go in wasn’t lining up with the tracker thing that pushes it outwards. They came out and fixed that. Also, the top piece of the microwave wasnt put properly, so we just had the guy who was fixing the door do it as well. Overall, I am happy and I will definitely recommend Viking.

We built our home 18 years ago and ordered all new appliances. Didnt notice
We built our home 18 years ago and ordered all new appliances. Didnt notice the latch was not working until a couple years later because I thought it was just me - learning to bake with a gas oven as opposed to my old electric. I was complaining to my brother-in-law who is Mr. Fix-it and he noticed it wasnt closing properly. The latch was bent. With all his tools and strength he was unable to bend it at ALL! This did not happen by me closing the door, this was a manufacturer defect. Viking has refused to replace the door so I am stuck having to alter all my baking. I will NEVER recommend Viking again! Terrible customer service.

We bought top of the line Viking Refrigerator & all other Viking kitche
We bought top of the line Viking Refrigerator & all other Viking kitchen appliances about 6 years ago from Airport Appliances with 10 year extended warranty for additional $2K Associated Service Corp. Warranty. First year, the ice maker does not work properly & froze in the door which we couldnt use any more. Then, the water line busted & flooded/damaged our house which we had to file insurance claim. Now, it stopped working & was blowing hot air. We contacted Jags Appliance Repair 510-494-9574 who charged us $135 service call & said that compressor, serpentine, heat exchanger, evaporator needs new which will costs another $1700 for repairs (parts covered), not to mention the spoiled food. I called Airport Appliances 510-783-3494 that they cant do anything & that we should contact Associated Service Warranty that we purchased from them for $2K. I called Associated Service Corp Warranty 800-325-4363. They said they only cover up to $160 only, but the service agreement states otherwise that labor is included... I contacted Viking Bay Area Regional Manager/Sue ** who said that Viking parts are covered & can pay only $350 towards the repair, or buy another Viking refrigerator half price. (No thanks to purchasing another Viking products & never recommend this expensive piece of metal that doesnt work.) I forgot to mention that bottom metal piece is rusting too!
