Mine is about 10 years old and it’s fine. I haven’t had a problem except last season it needed Freon. Mine was installed by Greg Hookenshoven Heating and Air Conditioning. Great service. He comes quickly when called for service. Can’t say enough.

You can stop a Trane! I had two brand new Trane units installed into my home. Less than two years ago. One of them can’t be fixed. My HVAC guy came out about five times. He’s done everything from change valves to Freon to pulling vacuums etc. Trane won’t stand behind their products, their consumer relations department is useless. Three different people gave me three different responses on how they would or wouldn’t help me. Today a supervisor told me that all of the three people I spoke to are wrong and they can’t help me and won’t. My unit is new and it is installed properly. It doesn’t work! Garbage! Run!!!

When we built our house 8 years ago, the builder insisted on installing a TRANE unit with the suggestion that they were a very reputable company with a good product. In the 8 years we've had it, we've had 4 service calls on this unit, the last one was today and the tech informed me that the cheap copper tubing was rusted through and the condenser was damaged, total cost of repair will run me over $ 2600 to replace the air handler, the coil and filter drier. This is utterly inexcusable. I've probably spent almost 1500 already on service calls and repairs on an 8 year old unit, pathetic.

We bought an Rheem 5.0 Ton air conditioner unit just 13 months ago. The compressor stopped working and even though the parts are covered we had to pay $600 for the labor. We are still paying for this unit and it only lasted a little over a year. The unit we had before (a different brand) lasted over 10 years before it gave us any problems. It doesn't seem fair that we had to pay that much money for labor when it is obviously a faulty unit. We live in Florida and it's the middle of summer, we can't live without AC so we just had to pay it. I will not recommend this Rheem brand to anybody.

I purchased this unit from a local contractor and have had 3 problems with it since installation. I had installer fix the first issue which he told me they would not charge me for. Unit was installed horizontally in attic and installers didn't know that when unit is installed this way condensation builds up in tube which won't allow heat to start up.Their employees are totally incompetent since they never glued PVC vent and exhaust piping through roof. Primed but never glued. Stick a piece of pipe in and that's done. Crooked coming out the roof, which I had to have repaired with the unglued pieces of pipe. I'm afraid to check and see if they at least glued the pipe that holds condensation as that will eventually leak in time if that was also improperly installed. Now I had to have flame sensor replaced and unit is only 3 years old. Goodbye to Mensers Heating and Cooling and Goodman products.

Bought Goodman. Never again. 2 burnt blower motors and now a defective evaporator coil and on top of that my installer said it’s all warrantied through Goodman for 10 years but now Goodman says they will not warranty the units for 10 years; only 5 because a form was not filed within 90 days from install. This is bull. It’s because they are in a class action lawsuit about having lot and lots of defective coils and so they're trying to get out of covering their 10 year warranty on a technicality and because they know their stuff will only last for 5 year and now turning the blame on homeowners for their installing company negligence in not filing their paperwork timely by saying, "Oh that’s the homeowners' responsibility to file the warranty paperwork and if they don’t we will penalize them for our defective products."Let’s face it. Paperwork or not it should not affect the warranty. If their stuff was built right from the beginning and they felt a 10 year warranty was proper then filing a form should not matter. It does not change the MFG date or the install date or the way they make their products. They have not heard the last from me. This is just a start.Buy Trane not Goodman and save your self lots of headaches. Dealing with Goodman’s customers service is a joke just a headache. I’m not asking for labor charges or the 10 lbs of Freon that was lost due to their defective coils just to stand behind their 10 year policy and provide the parts to replace their known bad inferior parts for the 10 year period they promised. If you're looking for HVAC work do your homework. Check out the net for all the people having issues with Goodman then buy something else more reliable like American Standard or Trane. I wish I did.

i live upstairs in a old apartment, single pane windows..crooked doors with gaps.. i think it works good for what it is.. i own it for a year now..going on my second summer.. helpful hint... if you are gonna wait till the room is 80 plus degrees. then use this ac unit.. its not gonna cool the room.. i have mine sitting in my living room, 450 sq ft. i check the weather and set mine to come on early.. example.. its gonna be 85 or 100 today.. i set it to start running at 7am. i got to work, come home about 4pm.. the place is about 73 to 75 degrees.. i should note that when its 110 to 115 outside.. my inside temp is 77 to 78.. its better then nothing.. i cant have a window ac unit, apartment wont allow. i think it would be cooler if i didnt have gaps in my front door or windows..the unit basicly runs from 7am til 10pm everyday.. my electric bill isnt bad.. probably an extra 40 bucks tops. my freakin portable heater in the winters, uses up way more electricity.. the whynter isnt that loud, for a portable ac.. i had louder ones.. just remeber..get a head start... start this or any portable ac unit early while the room isnt hot yet.. something is better then nohing..and buy thia unit when its on sale..

Purchased an American Standard (owned by Trane) HVAC in spring 2017. In spring 2018, the AC was not cold. Technician diagnosed the problem: leaking indoor coil. He replaced and recharged it, then told me that the $545 for labor/refrigerant was NOT covered under warranty - only parts are. When he sensed my outrage, he explained he was "on my side" and told me to call Trane Customer Service. I did - case #**. They explained the warranty to me (as if I needed that), and I made it clear that it IS A JOKE. How can a company stand by their product when they are asking consumers to incur cost for THEIR MISTAKES! When the supervisor realized I was not going to stop complaining (no yelling, no cursing), she asked if there was anything else she could help me with, to which I answered "you have not helped me at all," and then she hung up on me as I began my next sentence... DO NOT BUY TRANE/AMERICAN STANDARD!!!
