Over the course of the 9 years that I had this hot water heater, I had to have the smart control box on top of the water heater replaced 3 times for burning up. The wires in the smart control box literally burned up and melted together. I am thankful that I was home each time it occurred, because if I had been at work when it burned up and not able to shut off breaker to it, as I did every time this happened, my home may have burned down because of it. I did just get Whirlpool to replace this hot water heater with a brand new one. However I have now paid installation costs twice. That's not right. I had to pay a plumbing company $725.00 today to just install this new one. I bought the highest priced hot water heater that was also considered top of the line 9 years ago. I did this because Whirlpool is a reputable company and it came with a lifetime warranty. This doesn't make me happy and satisfied though when I have had to pay to have it installed twice. The installation costs more than the price of the brand new hot water heater! I also called around and did my homework first. The company that installed it was actually the lowest price of all of them.

I have a bunch of these in a commercial strip mall I own. They work very well for bathroom sinks and are easy to mount and set up. I have had one failure with this brand and that was after 8 yrs of use. This wouldnt supply a shower but is great for light use and you dont have to find space for a tank or worry about it always heating water and wasting electricity. These units only energize when the hot water is being used.

I call them. Lowe's gave me #. Spoke to man there at CS. He took care of me. I was a Lowe's within 30 mins. Gave them PO. Home within 45 mins. Whirlpool you the best in Johnson city TN. You're just like Lowe's. I pay for Whirlpool because you make it. Thanks for all you do. The best. #1.

I do repair work. I was called out to help because a family had issues and their plumber was busy. I replace, on average, one hot water tank a month. Warranty is not what they claim at the store. The tank was manufactured in July 2010 with a 6-year replacement warranty. But when you call, you need to pay to have their service person come out to verify the problem. The earliest appointment is June 6th. This is Tuesday (almost 1 week from Memorial Day). Towel test was done to verify no leaks around fittings including the elements. The tank is defective. I was transferred to 5 different people (90 minutes on phone until the rude, older person and I got disconnected). Their response: We know it is not right, but we could fit you in the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Everyone agrees they are sorry and they would not want to be without hot water, but "should I make you the appointment for you or can I help with anything?" Really **. So I want everyone, when they need a hot water tank, to run to Sears.

I purchased a 30-gallon Rheem water heater on Black Friday 2014. And it worked fine for about 45 days. Then I had to light the pilot light for the first time. So the heater worked for several day after. Then I had to light the pilot again and it worked for several more days, again. Thereafter, the pilot light had to be lit, but then would only stay on less than an hour. Then I lit again. The next day it was out. So I called tech support and they ask for pictures of install. I send. By this time, I call my plumber who installed unit. He could not get it going. So I call tech support again, they say thermal couple is bad and they send one. Their plumber comes out to install and the darn heater still won't light. So he call company and tells them it's the igniter switch wire is bad, they send that out. Their plumber comes back, installs switch, gets the heater going. Within an hour, it's back out. So I call tech support yet again, the guy says it's the control now, so he'll send that. Now it won't light, so hot water. This has been a nightmare. I will not buy another unit from this company, this has been hell. Stay away, you won't regret it.

Had a plumber install a new Rheem water heater Sept. 22 ,2020. 9 months later the pilot light is not working. Read several others have the same problem. Maybe a lawsuit is needed for them to make it right. Still trying to make contact with them. Terrible customer service.

This is my second water heater in three years. The problem is the thermocouple thermostat. Also, when I drain the water, it comes out of the heater black because of the corrosion in side. I spoke to people in the company, and they were nasty to me. This happened to my two heaters in 2 1/2 years. Please, do not buy a Whirlpool heater.

Bradford White hot water heater model #mi403s6fbn - This is the second brand new BW gas hot water heater installed in less than one month......... first one only produced lukewarm water. Called service man and he found the thermostat was defective, installed new one. Had hot water for half of the next day, called service back. They checked everything, moved water temp to very hot... nothing changed. BW accepted the tank back and presented us with another new one... installed last week and once again we had hot water for a day maybe two and now it is back to lukewarm again even though I pushed the temp up as far as it will go......... Service person says I need to call a plumber now which is going to mean more money... Shouldn't the gas company that installed it stand behind it?

I bought Whirlpool gas water heater on July 2009. It keeps going out. It is not working. I found out you can't even get parts for fixing it. The dealers told me it's junk. I was told to buy a new one. Then, I found out it's been in class action lawsuit. How did I get to buy it after it was recalled? I don't know what to do.
