The motor pump for my $900 KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDS35FXSS1 broke one week after our one-year warranty expired. It cost me $452 to repair and will not be covered under warranty by KitchenAid. I was disappointed with customer service that they would not consider covering the repair work. I will not buy another KitchenAid product again.

11 mos. old side x side SS KitchenAid fridge stopped making ice. Whirlpool/KitchenAid Customer Service gave name and phone for our local authorized KA repair service. Fantastic response from service folks, but ice jam was caused by faulty evaporator - replaced. Next day, water all over kitchen flooring - serviceman came and left to order new ice maker. Installed a day later. Next day, water all over flooring again. Service came, contacted Whirlpool Service Tech who told him to replace the whole freezer door. Done 2 days later. That night, water all over the floor and entire mechanical portion of ice maker frozen so could not work. Next day, new water valve installed. That night, no ice. Next day water tubing siliconed. That afternoon, water dispenser wont shut off as the little valve finishes calling for water. Service guy came.Going to conference with his owner and Service Tech at Whirlpool... Service tech tells him to install a tiny shim under the freezer door washer. Done. That evening (3rd visit by repairman same day!) water flooding flooring once again. We have a lemon, but appears that we ALL have lemons. The IN company that sold me this suite of appliances by KitchenAid has now - 11 mos. later - stopped even listing them as products on their gigantic website! Another telling facet. Call to Whirlpool customer service - refusal to consider replacement. Wants another part installed. Were steaming... with no ice maker and now not even any drinking water. Were on a well!

We bought all KitchenAid appliances when we moved due to their reputation for quality. We didnt get it. The refrigerator has leaked (a recall that we werent notified of) and it marked our hardwood floor. The ice maker quit and now the deli door has broken off. The gas cook top hums all the time and the double oven heats slowly and cools with a noisy fan for a long time. It also snaps and pops when heating and cooling. Our dealer says this is normal. Im writing this so people dont pay extra for KitchenAid quality that is no longer there.

KitchenAid Fridge...proud made in America. 3 Failures on ice and water with flooding all over the house in the first 10 months and food thrown out. A whole day of labour to clean up. Thanks to these corrupt manufacturers. What do you test? Sell lemons to your customers. What trust can anyone have with your proud lemons. MADE IN AMERICA...maybe made in China might be a better return for my investment. Another Failure with $1000 dollars of food to be thrown out... This is what I get for $4000 fridge. You are nothing a bunch of monkeys who build these products and cheat your customers on the quality of the product. Come to my house and I will show you KITCHEN AID MANUFACTURERS...damn cowards! All of them should be thrown in prison for selling lemons. Tell these cowards who run KITCHEN AID...it is nothing but a KITCHEN SINK full of wasted money. It is time the government crackdown on crooks like these and they look to be protected. What a bunch of thieves. How many times should a product fail. They should be held accountable and pay for any failure that takes place by their incompetency. I DO NOT Recommend this product at all...

Im a commercial dishwasher repairman. My 10-month old dishwasher failed, dead, no lights, nothing. I checked the power and performed troubleshooting steps, determined the problem was a bad control board. I called the folks who sold it to me. They did not have a control board in stock. I asked that they bring a board with them so they could fix it with one visit. They said no, they could not be sure the board was the problem. I was going to have to wait 5 days (including Saturday & Sunday) for them to show up between 1 and 4, and then have to go through another wait until they were able to get the part. I am not very fond of washing dishes by hand, so I called around and found a parts place that could have the part by the next day (Saturday). The part came in and I installed the part, which fixed the problem. I called the dealer and canceled the service call and asked if it was possible to get any credit on the part. They said no, but I could call KitchenAid. I called KitchenAid this morning. No luck, it did not matter that Id saved them two service calls. It did not matter that I had taken the risk for the cost of the part if my diagnosis had been incorrect (with electronic parts, once the box is open, you own it). After speaking with Shari and David (a supervisor), KitchenAids policy is inflexible. If a customer touches it, they dont warranty it. In addition, they refused to send someone out to inspect my work or to confirm the board was bad. Im very disappointed! Heck, if they had offered to split the cost of the part or even to give me credit towards my next KitchenAid Appliance, Id have been thrilled. Instead, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth.

After Katrina devastated our home, we lost everything. My husband and I didnt have much to repair our home so when we had to select our major appliances we knew they had to last a very long time. We believed in the KitchenAid/Whirpool company. We purchased the stackable washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stove and french door fridge. Within the first two years the microwave went out. The cost of the repair was half the cost of the microwave. After that the fridge went out. We paid $265.00 for the repair. The following year the fridge went out again with the same cost in repair. Year 4 our washer went out with a part costing over $300.00. That same year my oven thermostat became a problem with a bill of $100.00 just to look at it. Now today after paying $198.00 for a repair guy to look at my fridge (which continues to run at 54 degrees) we learned that it will cost over $800.00 to fix the freon hose which is located behind a bunch of other parts and compressor. We trusted this company but it has been an expensive nightmare!!! We can not afford the repairs and the additional cost of wasted food and trips to the local laundromat each week. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTS FROM KITCHENAID/WHIRPOOL!!!! IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND YOU WILL SPEND JUST THE SAME ON REPAIRS. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE MY FAMILY LIVES EVERY DAY!! THEY SUCK!!

The front control panel of stove/oven does not work well. I started the oven and then could not turn it off. It was very scary. The machine finally had to be pulled out from the slot and manually unplugged. The panel off button does not work, and the other functions work sporadically. Mary kept insisting that these issues do not exist with KitchenAid appliances, when there are so many complaints and similar scary experiences from other owners.

For the second time the transistor/computer board has malfunctioned. We bought the appliance in set 2006. After two months we had a terrible leak due to a faulty stab fitting in the water line. In Feb 2010 the transistor blew and was replaced. It happened again and now we need to get a rebuilt one, not new because of the tsunami knocking out the plant that used to make the parts. Why would I trust the part? Also they say turnaround is 48 hours, we will see. If it werent for the custom wood panels I have on the fridge, I would switch to a new brand!

I purchased 4 new KitchenAid appliances with my new house. In less than a few months, the finish on the bracket that holds the handle to the oven of the range started to flake and peel. As others have written, KitchenAid describes this as cosmetic and will do nothing about it. I talked with 3 customer service persons and emailed pictures. My emails and voicemail message are not returned. I, too, bought KitchenAid thinking it was a high end appliance company. We bought a KitchenAid gas range in 2010. When I used the self cleaning mode my display went black and my oven was locked. We called manufacture while it was still under their warranty. They sent a repairman out and he replaced the circuit board. Now 2015 we have a reoccurring problem. Used self cleaning again. Oven locked. We bought an extended service plus warranty on Jan 9th 2015. Today on Jan 27th we are told that they will gladly refund us our money on the service plan even though it was stated in their warranty if its an electrical issue or mechanical they will replace it if it cant be fixed. Well they have stated its gonna cost more in parts for a 5 yr old stove. Well if they would of fixed the problem back in 2010 would I still be having this problem today in 2015. Seems to me there is a issue in the manufacturing of this range.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side fridge from Sears ten months ago. I have since had it serviced for four times and Im now going on my fifth. This time around, I will have replaced nearly every part in the fridge. My complaint is not only with regards to the condition of the product and Sears failure to take responsibility for it (not to mention all the food Ive had to throw out), but the fact the Sears service department makes it extremely difficult to get them to come out in a timely matter.Last time we checked our fridge, it was 60 degrees. According to Sears, it would be a minimum of one week before they could come out and repair the fridge, even though our last repair guy had the part needed to fix the fridge shipped directly to our home. The part is currently sitting on our kitchen counter. I guess my question is, is there a lemon law that protects my family from Sears and the obviously faulty item that they sold us? If so, I would like this fridge replaced. Im very much considering contacting an attorney. What are your thoughts?

Updated on 06/03/2020: In my last review from Sept 2018 I indicated that fridge was not repaired yet. In Oct 2018 the main circuit board was replaced for 2nd time. Fast forward to June 2020. Fridge is randomly shutting off all cooling and needs to be rebooted to work again. Service call indicated that main circuit board is faulty. Result is that fridge is going to the trash as Im not spending another dime on it. Following is what I have spent on this six year old fridge, which doesnt include a complete replacement of cooling system under warranty: 10/05/18-$570.65 09/12/18-$100.57 09/15/17-$303.97 08/31/17-$100.57 11/04/16-$404.2610/19/16-$100.57Original Review: Purchased 5 years ago. Constant problems including: 1/ Fridge not staying cold - year 1. Fan that pushes cold air to the fridge from freezer failed. 2/ Freezer not staying cold - year 2. Complete replacement of cooling system - under warranty. 3/ Constantly restarting - year 4. Fridge would shut down and restart many times per day. Sometimes it would show PO (Power Out) warning. Circuit boards replaced - not under warranty. 4/ Stopped making ice cubes - year 4. Replaced ice making unit - not under warranty. 5/ Constantly restarting - year 5. Not repaired yet. 6/ Flimsy shelving. Re-glued a number of internal drawers because they were falling apart. 7/ Noisy. Wasnt bad when originally purchased but after #2 and #4 repairs it got progressively worse and now sounds like a freight train running. I will never purchase another KitchenAid nor anything else by the manufacturer of KitchenAid.

On March 25th 2015, our carbon monoxide detector went off. The local fire department came and they determined that the source of the carbon monoxide leak was our Kitchen Aid slide in range-oven. They supplied a report that outlined this. They shut off the propane supply and pulled range out of position and said we could not use this appliance until problem was fixed. We notified Kitchen Aid customer service on 03/26/15 (appliance under mfg warranty), and explained the situation. This issue was passed on to their safety department. The safety department did not respond to us until 03/27, and they explained that they needed a carbon monoxide meter to service our appliance, which they did not have available. We have been in contact with them every day since the incident happened, and we still do not have an appointment from service department to resolve our issue. The excuse everyday is that they are waiting for carbon monoxide meter to come back to them from the field to send to our local appliance repair center, and in turn to come to our home. This is not acceptable, and we need to help, now, to resolve this issue.

The thermal fuse has blown out several times over the last two years, and is costing money each time. KitchenAid could care less - they are raking in the money as exclusive supplier of the parts. We have other Whirlpool and KitchenAid products, and the process is always the same. Theres no help from the company, no cheap parts, and theres aggravation at a simple machine that is designed to break down. Our Whirlpool dishwasher is designed with too small of a draincock, and it constantly blocks up. I am a repairman, and I am tired of coming home and fixing these ** things. I went over to Maytag and Sub-Zero, and have not regretted it. I now tell all of my customers and friends to not use these products as they will constantly be fixing them because they are designed to fail.

My stand mixer had a bolt fall out while I was using it. I dont know where it came from, but now the stand wont stay locked down when I use it. I tie it down when I am using it. My fridge is the fancy freezer on the bottom, two-door type. There is a set of plastic drawers in the fridge that cant be used because the plastic frame that they hang on broke! My stove I have is a glass top slide-in convection oven. I have had the cooktop replaced, the front panel has been replaced twice, the meat thermometer sensor has had to be replaced twice and many more repairs. If anything overflows, the circuits blow and nothing on the cook top works for a few days until it is dried out. Last Thanksgiving, I had to cook my turkey on the barbeque and my oven didnt work for 6 weeks! Last night, a screw fell out of the bottom of the door and the inside and outside of the door was coming apart. I could see a screw was loose. I took the door off to fix it and had to take it apart. I decided to clean the glass while I had everything apart (my glass window was filthy because when anything overflows, the liquid goes down the panel and into the door). And when I was putting everything together, I heard a weird noise and the panes of the glass window shattered. These appliances cost me over $5000.00 and I bought them thinking I would never have to replace them. Ive contacted KitchenAid and they have sent people out to fix it. However, that is because Ive paid for an extended warranty. They will not replace the stove because a problem has to re-occur 3 times for it to be replaced. Meanwhile, they have paid $1000s in service repairs and are too obstinate to replace the stove which is obviously a lemon (like all my KitchenAid appliance). I am just sick about all the problems Ive had.

I bought the Kitchenaid KDTE404 (architect series) dishwasher for $900 and had it installed by company who sold it to me. The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, but installer/company repaired it within a week. The rack system is crap. Has plastic inserts with ball bearing. Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. We purchased a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in 2007. It recently began having problems keeping the freezer temperature constant. A repair company came out and indicated that the problem was that we need a new main contact (part number W10219463) but KitchenAid (manufactured by Whirlpool) has discontinued the part. So, we are told we need a new refrigerator. Aside from the fact that it is environmentally irresponsible for refrigerators to have the shelf life of a disposable cell phone, thus resulting in landfills being filled with major appliances built to fail and be discarded rather than repaired, it is also outrageous for a company to discontinue parts in this way. I tried to contact the company using their website, but the system would not accept my message (the website seems to work as well as my refrigerator). I sat on hold on their corporate consumer line for 45 minutes but never got through to a person. I highly recommend that people avoid purchasing any refrigerator manufactured by Whirlpool (which manufactures KitchenAid, JennAir and Whirlpool refrigerators). It likely wont last and it wont be repairable.

Since the day I purchased this range, gas/convection oven, I have been disappointed with the quality. First of all, the salesperson at ABT told me the same thing about limiting the amount of self cleaning you do (but said you should do that with all self cleaning ovens.) Then, the fan on the oven sounds like a jet engine when it is on convect or cool down mode. I purchased this range in 2005 I believe, and this Thanksgiving, literally moments after the turkey was done, the oven shut down and will not turn back on. After reading all of these reviews, it clearly does sound like a recall issue and it is unfortunate that Kitchen Aid refuses to acknowledge their poor workmanship or design on this product.

I called KitchenAid, only to be told they saw this as a cosmetic issue which was not covered. They did say they could send a repairman to look at it, but I would have to pay for the service call. I protested and spoke to the service manager. No help! I returned to the Lowes store and the appliance manager had Lowes file a formal complaint with KitchenAid. He said Lowes would stand behind me. Well see. For now, my advice is never buy a KitchenAid appliance.

My 5-year old KitchenAid dishwasher (Model: KUDP02FRSS3) pops open during run cycle. I have had 6 or 7 service calls, and none of which have fixed the problem for a few weeks or months. When working, we have good results as far as cleaning is concerned, unlike some other KitchenAid owners. I cannot count the number of times we have used a chair propped up against the door to complete a cycle. The door striker and/or latch have been replaced 3 times, while the springs and nylon cord have been replaced once.During this repair, the tech bent the hinges inward and installed a single rubber bushing on one of the hinges to increase friction with the door in the closed position. He would have installed 2, but he only had one. The door did stay closed for 2 or 3 months. Eventually, the single bushing worked its way off. Probably because the original hinge was not designed for this bushing. During my third most recent service call, the tech installed a new plastic latch. The machine would close but it would not start.I checked the CB and was advised on the phone to do a hard reset (i.e., leaving the CB off for 30 seconds or so). This did not solve the problem. When the tech returned, he was stumped by this problem. Looking at the new latch, I figured out the problem - the latch requires a wider striker to activate the power switch. The tech then installed the correct striker for the new latch. The door closed and the dishwasher worked for 2 or 3 days.My wife was afraid to tell me it stopped working again. When she did, I set up another service call. The same tech came out with no parts on his truck. He tried to bend the striker so it would stay latched - no go, the door would not stay closed. He then removed the door sea and found that the door striker and latch open with almost no effort. He decided to order a new latch and striker assembly - a new door seal and new hinges. These should come next week and when I get them, I have to call for another service appointment, which I should get 1-2 weeks after my call.In the meantime, I am using a small metal L bracket and a C clamp so we can use the dishwasher. There is no doubt that this product is defective in design construction and materials. I have spoken to KitchenAid and they claim no problems with this machine. In the end, KitchenAid/Whirlpool will get what they deserve, fewer customers! Fortunately, I have had an extended warranty from Sears and just extended it for a year. The lemon law requires 4 repairs within the preceding 12 months, the fourth being within 60 days of the third repair. Should the next repair fail, I will use every resource available to get a new machine, obviously not a KitchenAid, including filing a claim in small claims court.

Bought the micro/hood 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with the micro. Starts beeping and the micro has started on its own. I think it is a safety hazard and will start a fire. Have put it on a power bar and turn it off when we are not home and at night. Had the controls switched out twice now to no avail as it still happens. Kitchenaid is sending their repair man again (Sears repair twice) and now Kitchenaid repair man twice. Both could not find the problem. Tired and scared of this darn microwave and want it replaced and out of my house before something terrible happens.

We have had a lot of problems with this microwave. The door locks and does not open (happened twice! I had to take it apart to replace the plastic mechanism). The light bulb burned out. This is NOT a consumer serviceable item! (Im a licensed electrical engineer; I think I can replace a light bulb without getting shocked by the capacitor!) I found one online and fixed it. The latest problem is the microwave runs with the door open! It happened earlier today. Then it worked fine, but it just happened again! We put something in and started it and then it timed out and stopped. We opened the door and it started running again. This is DANGEROUS! I have small children and the microwave is mounted below the counter! I dont want my children getting hurt by this hazardous device! We chose KitchenAid because we thought it had a reputation for quality. Boy, were we wrong! We have had problems with our other KitchenAid appliances as well, but the microwave is the worst!

Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

I had my oven in the medium setting to clean, but was not in the kitchen at the moment when we heard a very loud noise that sounded like an explosion. Immediately thereafter, shattered glass was falling out everywhere it could come out of. Very frightening moment. Called KichenAid in the morning and explained everything. They will send someone out tomorrow and assess the situation. We just moved into this place six weeks ago. The day we moved here, the freezer was leaking and formed a sheet of ice on the bottom drawer. Here I was offered to buy one year of warranty and paid $320.00 for it. All appliances are KiitchenAid and were installed in September 2011. They are like new. I, of course, have no warranty on these appliances and think this is absolutely crazy that after short time for such expensive appliances, these things happen. I will report on how this explosion will be taken care of tomorrow!

I purchased a new stainless steel range and am happy with it overall. However, the knobs get too hot to touch when the oven is on at a standard temp. This in turn makes my over the range microwave door handle extremely hot also. Having contacted them, I was told since the range is working appropriately (hmm, how would they know; no one came to look at it) there is nothing they can do. I brought up the fact that that is a safety hazard IMHO. Since I have children and just touching the knobs makes me flinch my hand back. I have a $2850 piece of fruit in my kitchen that is less than one year old. Its a lemon made by KitchenAid. I purchased the refrigerator KFIS29BBMS00 in brand new condition from a Texas appliance retailer in North Richland Hills in September of 2012. All was well until six months later, in March of 2013, the refrigerator stopped keeping the non-freezer items cool and ice was forming around the ice maker in the upper refrigerator, and also inside the door of the freezer. They, KitchenAid, dispatched an appliance technician for diagnostics. Lets start the count off for personal days of vacation stolen by these guys. (1 day) Evaporator fan ordered, and installed 10 days later mid April. (2 days) Load noise and additional ice build up 1 week later, service call scheduled. Same repair guy, different day. Parts ordered to replace faulty fan. (3 days) Two weeks later, installed firmware upgraded circuit board. (4 days vacation) In late June, the ice maker stopped working, service scheduled mid July with new service company and technician. (5 days vacation) Of course, parts ordered again... This time, the technician had them shipped to my house.About 12 days later, we received a parts shipment. We called KitchenAid when we received the parts package, asking when the service company was supposed to be back. They contacted them and they were out the next day. (6 days of vacation) Unfortunately, there were two additional parts being shipped and the repair could not be completed. Should not someone have known this dependency when we called? Fast forward an additional two weeks, now we are in early August and we called the service company again since all the parts are in. They cant come out until Sept 3, and in the meantime the refrigerator is making a very loud annoying noise. So, we called KitchenAid to report it and let them know we could not have the appliance serviced with the previous work order since the service provider stated they were only authorized to repair the ice maker. KitchenAid dispatched a third appliance repair company, who was scheduled by KitchenAid for 8/26, then no call no show. They said they did not receive a work order from KitchenAid, but assured me they could make it tomorrow, 8/26. (7 days vacation lost) The third repair company came out today, 8/27, and said they cant repair the refrigerator until the other company completes their work order. (8 days of vacation) Remember now, I still have another appointment scheduled for 9/3/2013, so count on another vacation day, totaling 9 for now and counting.

We purchased a top-of-the-line over-the-range micro-convection oven by KitchenAid in September 2012. Within 30 minutes of installation the unit quit working. For 2 months we had 4 visits from a repair company while it hung without a door in our new kitchen. Finally it worked. Within the next 2 months the exhaust fan went out. They came, ordered a new one and when they pulled the original the tines on the wheels were shredded??? That was 2 more visits. Then just at the end of September this year the other motor did the same thing. That was 2 more visits. Now this week the control panel on the replaced door just started going crazy at random. So this will be another at least 2 visits. This will be 10 days of interruption of my work schedule for repairs to a microwave. Each visit requires you to allow a 4 hour window for the visit. My microwave has not been in full working order at least 4 months out of 14 months. Whirlpool the parent company will not replace it. They would rather I switch companies to LG or GE for my next appliance purchases. We have purchased just about every appliance from Whirlpool and KitchenAid for 35 years and 6 houses because they are a local company. BUT unknowingly this micro was built in China. Our loyalty to them is done because they have NO loyalty to us as a consumer. Very surprised at the lack of caring.

Today I phoned for my 4th service call for this 2 year old KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS30FXSS. It simply doesnt clean the dishes, leaving a food residue on mainly the top rack of dishes. Each time, the serviceman has cleaned out the chopper and pump (beware: there is no removable filter for this model) and it cleans for a few weeks, then we start washing by hand until I can find a time to stay home for another service person to come out to do the same thing. We had this oven when we purchased the house and it was perhaps the appliance that was least used. Over the past several months we have been getting an error in the control panel F6E0 - Lost Communications. The error would sometimes solve by itself, but this time we waited for about a month before calling a technician. He told us that the control panel would be $700 and the problem may be solved. It may require another control panel replacement which is in the $200 range. Why would Kitchen Aid design products that would last for 5 years when the good old Electric ranges with much less electronics lasted for 20 years. Where is quality? Where is reliability? I perhaps should not blame KitchenAid alone on this. Since we are all demanding (or receiving) products that look more like a computer - we replace it as often as a computer and trash the old ones in China. Further, they declined to post my review on their website - Sure they dont want to see it on their site!

We purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher about 3 years ago. KUDS35FXSSO. This dishwasher had the wheels on the top rack fall apart within the first 2 years. Then just days ago, the main controller just stopped working. It looked like the controls were not getting power. So we called Whirlpool and they sent out a local company to see what was wrong. I had to pay $100 for them to tell me that the controller is known to go out and be defective. Also the internal control box was hanging by the wires, also known issue and has caused fires. I also found out the valve was not working so the top sprayers were not getting water so they were not cleaning the top dishes. The parts for these items are covered from years 2-5, but not labor. Total labor cost for all of this plus the previously mentioned cost is around $300. That is not to mention that a heating error was also found (another known issue) but not covered by the warranty. My question is if all of these are known issues, and have occurred to many people, why are these dishwashers not recalled? Or why hasnt there been a class action lawsuit! I will not have them fix this piece of garbage, just so I can pay again down the road to replace or have it fixed again.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago thinking we were paying more to get a quality product. It has been instead inferior and troublesome. A long series of problems began from the start. Crooked footings that made it more challenging to install. Leaking door seal that needed to be replaced. Leaks from some undefined location that require we use and empty a drip pan. Plastic wheels breaking and not staying on track (dumping the full tray into the well) when sliding in full trays of dishes. Poor cleaning compared or prior cheapo washers. Flatware trays that wear out easily even while trying to be careful, and now to top it off, the unit has stopped rinsing the dishes entirely. What a huge waste of money!

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher model: KUDS30CXWH7 in august 2012. I realize that is some time ago. I have been unhappy with this appliance since the first time I used it. The only positive thing I can say is it is more quiet than the previous dishwasher. I have the heavy duty cycle - it is no better than the normal cycle for cleaning pots or pyrex baking dishes. Please understand they are virtually clean when put in the washer yet not thoroughly clean at the end of the cycle. The heat dry cycle dries NOTHING so a dish towel or drying pad must be used daily.I also find it so odd that an appliance that is supposed to clean must also be cleaned with a special dishwasher soap otherwise it smells like a wet dog. I have had repair people here for a variety of dishwasher complaints - some have been remedied - but generally their comments are thats the way new appliances are. They dont clean thoroughly, they dont dry thoroughly, and they will smell unless you use dishwasher cleaner. An unhappy customer.

In 2013 we purchased KitchenAid refrigerator, dishwasher, double oven, range, microwave. The first season we had issues with the freezer draw icing shut and condensationing. Called the company. They came out and made some adjustments. Everything seemed ok. In 2014 we noticed the ice would work periodically, but then just started working. The range and microwave have never kept the correct clock time. Then late summer about a month prior to shutting the house down for the season. The freezer just stopped working. Then wishing 14 days the refrigerator stopped working. Being the end of the season, we emptied the appliance. I have called the company that we had purchased the appliances from (which had went bankrupt and was purchased by another vendor). I have yet to receive a call from the vendor. Know Im stuck on an island and trying to find an appliance company to hopefully repair my 3-year-old refrigerator. Unless the appliance can be repaired reasonably soon and at a fair cost I would never purchase or recommend KitchenAid appliances again.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher W10321621D has to be located just below the busiest food prep/washing counter. After starting, it appears if theres the slightest bump against the washer, it will shut off - all lights go out. It wont even hold the point where it needs to resume. We have to put in more soap and restart the process. Sometimes we dont realize what has happened until the next day. A younger family member will open the dishwasher. Ill start unloading and then realize the contents are still not clean, figured out what happened, and then try to figure out what has to go back in! Very aggravating. It could have something to do with the exposed touchpad on the front, even though we have been so cognizant not to touch while running. We now have to put a chair in front of the dishwasher every time it runs to make sure no one goes within 2 feet of it. Hard to work around.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a 42 inch Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model kssc42qmS01 for about $5500. Seven years later, it required a rebuild of the circuit board for about $400. Last month the overtemp warning light was coming on for both the freezer and refrigerator. The authorized repair guy and Kitchen Aid said they could not fix the board due to the Tsunami in Japan. This excuse does not hold water since there are several after market repair shops that fix these boards daily. Just Google Kitchen Aid Control Board and you will find an entire market place of repair shops and used boards. (They all love Kitchen Aid!) If you read the detailed accounts of other pissed off homeowners who got stuck with a large piece of unserviceable junk in their kitchen read on from this website. My favorite is the guy who fixed his own control card for $6. Blaming a Tsunami is a convenient excuse to not fix or service these refrigerators because of underlying design flaws. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fix my board a second time despite the $500 in service calls and emergency repairs. The refrigerator still cant maintain its temperature. Kitchen Aid says theres nothing they can do except offer me a special price which is not better that a good Internet price from an online deep discounter. Keep in mind that this is a built in in a custom kitchen. (The Kitchen was featured in a local Milwaukee Magazine) I cant just rip this 42 inch built in out and put in a stand alone refrigerator because there would be a large gap in the 42 inch cavity not to mention a 3 inch projection even with a counter depth unit. And why would I buy another Kitchen Aid / GE built in when they walk away from their own product? My advise is to stay away from Kitchen Aid / GE built-ins.

This is coming out of frustration dealing with KitchenAid fridges. Had an older KitchenAid fridge (Built-In) which lasted about 15 years and decided to go with another KitchenAid as a replacement. Purchased the KBFN402ESS - where its categorized as a Luxury fridge, thats built-in with the latest technologies and cooling features, yet it was super expensive and have been a major headache since the get-go.1) The fridge delivered came as a LEMON. This was during a crucial time, when my wife just gave birth and were new parents, trying to have the fridge ready to cover my wifes nutrient intake, and breastmilk storage. It took KitchenAid 4 weeks to come back and forth for diagnostic / small repairs, and it was not until I was adamant that we must replace the fridge, and finally they noted as out of courtesy they will replace. If KitchenAid cannot guarantee the fridge will operate and perform well within 1 year of purchase, PLEASE GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS - why are you producing such poor quality products?2) Upon replacing the fridge, and its only been 8 months - this new fridge has gone berserk once again under normal operational usage. Freezer had frost build-up, and the technician came and noted that the whole control board, along with fans and other parts will now need to be replaced. All the frozen breastmilk and frozen items, including some of the items in the main fridge have been spoiled. In summary, 1) KitchenAid does not stand behind its products. 2) KitchenAid produces POOR QUALITY fridges labelled as LUXURY and HIGH-END Fridge. 3) KitchenAid customer care is slow, and does not address customers concerns and compensation.4) KitchenAid should perform stricter quality control and thorough testing before releasing products into the market with prompt service and warranty/guarantees - what good is your internal QC, if the fridge breaks on Day 1 or within 1 year?

I had a kitchen remodel done. I decided to replace my Samsung with a KitchenAid. I thought for once in my life I would like my appliances to match. The refrigerator works ok, BUT the noise is unbelievable! It rattles, pops and shakes. I am so sorry I purchased this! I have had service tech, told me that the vibration was from the motor and frame. Used a piece of tape to fix the problem. It didnt work. They sent another tech. He told me that it was the water reservoir. Order a new one and installed it. Noise is worse! When I called KitchenAid AGAIN, the service agent was rude and told me that if they sent another tech out there and the noise was not happening, I would be responsible for the charges. This noise is intermittent, happens maybe every hour or so. I am happy with the other appliances I purchased, but the overall experience with this refrigerator will end my relationship with KitchenAid for good.

KFIV29PCMS00 - We got that fridge on January 2014 - so its 2 years and 4 months. The icemaker has never been performant - slow to make ice, but were not using it much so we didnt complained. About a year after we noticed iced was starting to build at the back of the top cabinet near the ice maker. We phone to KitchenAid and were told it was normal and to not worry about since the performance was the same. Yet 2 weeks ago we found all the ice was melting - cubes were soft and wet. We turned it off, but the next day we found the freezer was also melting, then all the refrigerator was not providing cold air at all. Called KitchenAid, the clerk is telling me nothing Ive said is under warranty. Then I told her Have you ever heard about Legal Warranty, and 30 secs later she came back and told me I will have nothing to pay.2 days later, the tech finally came in and said, the second evaporator had a leak so all the coolant leaked out and he had to replace it and also replace all the ice cube mechanism. A week later he comes back with all the parts to do the repair, but then as he opened the back cabinet he found it was filled with stains and black mold. All that comes from the water leaking from the ice maker, dripping inside the fridge and accumulating, then evaporating (from the anti-ice). So we were unaware of that water accumulating inside the cabinet (not accessible) and gradually forming mold (black mold and worst). Now my kitchen is full with refrigerator parts everywhere. The tech has gone as he doesnt want to work on the rotten refrigerator, and Im being ping pong at KitchenAid service and no one is telling me what to do and what will happened. The tech told me the cabinet cannot be replaced and cleaning all that mold is almost impossible. In other words he can only think about replacing the fridge altogether but KitchenAid is not responding. We paid high $$ (almost $3k) thinking we would be free of such problems, but were ending up with that situation after only 2 years. The previous fridge lasted 18 years and never had any issue before 17 years, and the one before that was second hand and lasted 20 years. Im pretty mad and discourage.

Do not buy if you think about service and warranty. I got it and had issues from the first month. I neglect to report it timely. I rented my house and my tenant started using it. They had the same problem. We called the service. They said there was a delay receiving hot water: we need to reset it. They charged me $120. In two weeks this time, they said motor is faulty and it is out of warranty. I decided to get rid of it and purchased a new dishwasher. They did not responded positively. I even told them to come and check if the machine has factory faulty. They said no. DO NOT BUY IT. I had a much better warranty experience with other companies.

First there was leaking from the freezer and ice building up in the bottom. Ordered part but before we could replace it, unit quit cooling. Repairman said the electrical board was out and sadly there were no replacements. So all the people with this unit basically have to replace them because there’s no part replacement. Makes no sense!!!! I thought Kitchenaid was top of the line, I guess not.

I bought a kitchenaid 3 years ago because I thought it was an elite appliance brand. Little did I know this would be the biggest nightmare. I have in the last 3 years have had the refrigerator replaced 2 times. The last was replaced in April and then has once again gone out on me. A refrigerator full of brand new COSTCO groceries completely spoiled. Over $300 of groceries and I was offered $75. To top off the inconvenience of having spoiled food with 3 children they can not fix it for another 5 days. So we are over a week now without a refrigerator and a trash full of groceries. Beyond frustrating!!! Only wishing we could just have our money returned to us or yet replace it with another refrigerator that is not the same or like the same model we have been given.

We purchased a dishwasher, microwave, oven and refrigerator from KitchenAid about a year ago and are currently having the refrigerator repaired for the 3rd time for the SAME issue! The fan in the refrigerator (KRFF707ESS01) doesnt work properly which allows ice to form in the back. This means that the drawers dont close anymore and the fan is very loud since it is hitting the ice. KitchenAid customer service has been absolutely useless. Im very disappointed in the product quality and the company and will never purchase a KitchenAid product or any Whirlpool product ever again!

This is an update to my post here on 11/24/2011. KitchenAid dishwasher KUDE
This is an update to my post here on 11/24/2011. KitchenAid dishwasher KUDE70CVSS2, 1.5 years old, sanitized light was blinking at end of sanitize wash, i.e. water was not heated up high enough to sanitize the dishes. Finally, it was repaired today, 2/8/2012, almost 11 weeks since it broke. We had 8 service repair visits made by 4 technicians from 2 service repair companies. During this period, the printed circuit board was replaced twice. We were told our hot water supply was not hot enough by one technician who didnt come prepared with a thermometer. A different visit and technician with a thermometer measured it at 142 degrees, well above the 120 degrees the KitchenAid manual says is needed. We were told the problem was in our household wiring. That was a miscommunication between one service repair company and the extended warranty company. Then the entire washer unit with pump and diverter valve was replaced, today, the 8th visit, and the unit now sanitizes and works just fine. Now Ill tell you how to navigate through the bad technicians, miscommunications and so on that I learned after being frustrated when the second service call did nothing to fix the problem. Inside the kick panel of the KitchenAid dishwasher is a large folded paper enclosed in a waterproof pouch. It a technicians debug sheet that describes how to operate and analyze the results of a built-in self test. Yes, these dishwashers can perform a rather complete self test that concludes with a code indicating what the problem is. Read the sheet in your washer to understand the proper sequence of front panel button presses needed to begin the self test. But beware, the test in my washer can be run to either display the concluding results, or skip the display. You will need to run it in the display mode to read the results, duh. Duh, because the first technician kind of ran it in the other mode and never saw the result. None of the other technicians even ran the self test. It takes about 27 minutes to run, and you have to sit and watch the lights flash so as to catch the final conclusion. Huh, KitchenAid? The technicians would rather just replace stuff than wait 27 minutes to find out whats wrong. But I ran it, not just once, but many times, and I always got error codes 4-1 and 4-4. And the documentation says that one of the causes of a blinking sanitized light is error codes 4-1 or 4-4. Duh again, only on the 7th service call did the technician say lets see what 4-1 and 4-4 are and the answer was an issue with the diverter valve, so he ordered a new one, replaced it on the 8th visit and the washer runs just fine. So run that self-test, get the error codes, then insist the repair company fix the error reported by the self-test. With each technician, I point to the KitchenAid refrigerator I bought in 1987 that still runs well, and, each has chirped, dont buy another KitchenAid refrigerator. Im not buying another KA dishwasher either!

Our KitchenAid Wine Cooler is in its sixth year and stopped cooling this week. With most refrigeration this age you automatically assume it is just a premature leak of the Freon/coolant which is bad enough. However, the repairman (his trip cost $85 for the bad news) reported it was the evaporator that failed and the parts are already out of production/not available and therefore, the unit will have to be replaced. Whirlpool which owns KitchenAid confirmed the part is not available and that there was nothing they could do for us. Since we would have to replace it with another KitchenAid unit for reasons of fit and appearance, one would think they might do something monetarily for the consumer. Ironically last evening at a New Year Eves party we heard a very similar story involving a failed KitchenAid refrigerator that was only in its third warranty year. KitchenAid/Whirlpool should not be getting away with this fraud-- no consumer expects to junk a relatively new appliance because it breaks. When the class action lawsuit happens, Whirlpool will wish they had done right by their customers.

This refrigerator is just over 1 year old and it has stopped cooling 5 time
This refrigerator is just over 1 year old and it has stopped cooling 5 times. It is a defect that KitchenAid is aware of and they arent doing anything to fix it. They have an internal service bulletin on this issue. They send a repairman out and he replaces a part and 2 months later it stops cooling due to ice build up behind cold cut/vegetable drawer. They continue to make different repairs until your warranty is expired, then you are out of luck. KitchenAid knows they have a bad product. They dont have a permanent solution, yet they continue to sell this model. What kind of company does this? How do they get away with it? AN ATTORNEY NEEDS TO FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT! Maybe that will get KitchenAids attention.

Purchased the machine almost 3 years ago. It has been a good machine with the exception of the plastic support for the top rack which breaks about every 12 to 14 months. Apparently looking on YouTube this is a common occurrence and not just an isolated incident. The part is $20 plus shipping, but buy 2 and replace the other side at the same time, it will save on inconvenience. I am baffled by dishwashers these days. None seem to last. We bought a stainless steel, built-in KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago when we were renovating our kitchen. It has been a huge disappointment ever since. It doesnt actually clean the dishes, no matter what setting we have it on. It leaves bits of food and random stuff on everything. It smells like rotten eggs when it runs. Plus, it runs for hours and hours - why? It does not effectively dry the dishes. We have had it serviced at least three times with no real improvement. Really, at this point, it is just a glorified dishrack and we end up washing almost everything by hand. Cost over $500 and is worse than the $200 dishwasher we had before. Dont buy, unless you just secretly want a fancy, stylish dishrack.

This cleaning technology is a complete joke. KitchenAid/Whirpool solution is to buy their cleaning kit a sponge and a plastic scraper. Food is caked on the inside and does not come off. You cant use any chemical cleaners either so youre looking at a 2-hour cleaning job to maybe get this oven clean. Im shocked that they are still selling ovens with this bogus technology. After running the cycle multiple times some of whats on the bottom comes off after some scrubbing but the sides are still filthy. KitchenAid and Whirlpool need to do a recall and buy all these garbage ovens back from consumers. I paid $2k for my oven and after calling to complain to KitchenAid they had the nerve to tell me a tech could come out but if they decided the oven was working as designed, I would be charged. As designed - so does that mean they know it doesnt work and they come out and say yep, its not working - as designed that will be $150 please. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again!!

Two weeks before the warranty ran out on my Kitchen Aid microwave, the unit started humming by itself while it is turned off. I called warranty center and they came in and repaired it. After the warranty ended, within one month, the same loud humming happened. So I called and had a technician come in and repair it. The unit is now two years old, it starts to hum anytime I turn on my range to cook. I would have to unplug it. Another thing about it is it starts to hum in the middle of the night, and then would turn on by itself. I think that a product like Kitchen Aid should live by its word. I cannot use this unit with trust.

Dishwasher is 2 years old and has had 11 wheels replaced on the top rack. Utensils always go through the holes in the utensil holder, often many while its running, and they get stuck and you cant even move the rack to try and get them out. Almost have to climb into the dishwasher to reach the ones at the back, which is of course after spending almost an hour trying to get all the other dishes out of the bottom rack with the top rack in the way. And forget about actually filling it, neither rack can hold any weight. The top one cant handle 5 glasses from dinner and 2-3 bowls without bending. Its not like anyone would expect a dishwasher to be able to handle the weight of I dont know... DISHES!!! If it was up to me I would leave it at the store front entrance. Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

I installed a new Kitchen Aid stove in May, 2010. The ovens preheat and self-cleaning features have not been working correctly since I first used the self-cleaning for the first time. I am 85 years old and gave up a perfectly good older GE stove because I could no longer reach the controls on the rear panel and bought this new Kitchen Aid because it has the controls conveniently on the front panel. It was a very bad decision. This is a very expensive junk. If you are considering buying a Kitchen Aid stove, dont do it. I am very unhappy with mine. I recommend you find a good used American-made made product and have it reconditioned by a qualified appliance repair person. I cannot afford this kind of ** product. We purchased our KitchenAid about 8 months ago after owning our Sears side by side for over 20 years. Immediately upon starting the ice maker we noticed that when the ice bin got full, it would not stop trying to fill the cube maker...because it was leaking into the fridge on the left side of the refrigerator. This model is the French Door on bottom, ice, water and measured fill on door. The repairman came and said I needed a gasket which he glued on to the door around the ice bin. This was in the winter and I really did not need the ice maker on so I shut it off. Here it is summer and I have turned it back on.....and it is leaking. I once again have to empty the ice bin twice a day so that it will not leak. PC Richard will continue to repair as long as my warranty is in effect.. What concerns me is that theyre putting band aids on faulty design and I have a problem with that. Anyone out there have any ideas??????? ?

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher a year and a half ago. When I moved in the house, there was a perfectly good working dishwasher in the kitchen, only problem was it was from the 1970s. I replaced it with a sleek stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. It worked flawlessly until just after the warranty expired. First, the top shelf did not get very clean despite my efforts to clean the jets. Then the rollers of the top tray broke making it very difficult to operate the tray. I suspect this is why it is not cleaning well because the tray is misaligned. Now, the dishwasher often does not work at all. It beeps and nothing else. It even beeps if both trays are removed. KitchenAid was not helpful at all when I contacted them. Avoid!!!
