I have a KitchenAid dishwasher (Model: KUDI01FLBL3). During the cycle, the control panel caught on fire with flames shooting out of the dishwasher and billowing smoke from the front of the unit. Additionally, the springs also broke on the door a few months prior. As a result, we had to endure the smell of a burnt electrical wire inside the house.

We purchased a complete kitchen of KitchenAid products. The quality has been very poor. The name at one time inferred quality. In two years the refrigerator was replaced once and the second has failed. The refrigerator temperature controls dont seem to change anything. The Dishwasher has been repaired three times. The stove has very poor insulation, but does a good job of heating the kitchen. In summary, I hope your experience has been different. Lowes has made every effort to to do a good job, but they simply have very little to work with with their KitchenAid appliance brand. I suggest you read the other reviews and make a wise decision. We made a very poor $6,000 decision.

I am completely surprised that after spending $2500.00 on a refrigerator, that functions well and initially looked great, am now, after less than a year into owning this refrigerator, now has rust spots all over the refrigerator doors. These rust spots initially started as pin-head size but now are growing larger and more numerous. After I was able to get hold of customer service who finally routed me to the correct person (after quite a bit of time on hold), I shared with this person what my issues were. He explained to me that this happens and that there was nothing he could do about it. I continually pushed him on this issue explaining that it made no sense for a top/high end brand to have issues like this. He eventually conceded and said that he would ship all three doors and that I should schedule a time with my local KitchenAid service techs. He then said that if this occurred again that he would not be sending a new set of doors and that, this was it, no more. When the service tech showed up he explained that this always happens with this refrigerator and to be prepared for it to happen again. This is ridiculous. I would be fine if this was a one time thing, but to told by not only the local service technician but the KitchenAid customer service rep. as well, that this is something that, just happens is absurd. In addition to this, it took 90 days for the doors to arrive and after they did, it was found that they sent in two left doors! I have now been informed that I will have to wait 60 days for the right door. The local service rep that KitchenAid directed me to, did a poor job of installing the doors that I did receive, they were not aligned, the gasket was stuffed into the door so that there was heat exchange from the outside causing an improper seal so that moisture began to collect along the seams. ALSO, the door that they did send had a torn (or cut) gasket. Again, this is ridiculous that such a high end brand would affiliate with poor field techs, and send damaged product. Im beside myself and at a loss.Id say, if you are thinking of purchasing this product, STEER CLEAR. Due to my experience with KitchenAids customer service and the my experience with this particular product, I will NOT be purchasing any product from KitchenAid, and will do my best to dissuade others from doing the same. Let me add that I am using the manufactures suggested cleaning product. The KitchenAid rep initially tried to suggest that the rust spots were due to me and improper care and cleaning.

My 4 yr old Kitchenaid started pinging so we called service and after they came out briefly, were told that it was the electronic board that was defective. However, the board is no longer available so they could not repair it. End of story, absolutely no effort to resolve the issue. There are companies that make this board but they are not approved suppliers. This thing cost quite a bit so Im extremely disappointed that Im left with a defective refrigerator making the noise that drives me crazy.

We purchased a Kitchenaid model KUDS301XBL4 dishwasher about 2 years ago. It appears that the plastic inside the tub is deteriorating and the pegs that hold the rollers for the top rack have broken. I have found this is a common complaint among Kitchenaid dishwasher owners. The parts cost for the repair is about $28 per side plus shipping costs. I did send an e-mail to Kitchenaid explaining the problem and asking them what their solution is regarding the defective parts. No reply at this time. I dont expect them to acknowledge defects or offer a solution based on other complaints I have read . So, I took to finding a solution myself.I examined the mechanism and figured out how it works and had an idea that if I could find the right nylon and stainless steel parts at my hardware store, I could re-install the rollers on a different spot on the sides of the rack. I found all the parts for the four rollers for a total of $7.89 and proceeded with installing them. I had to use a Dremel tool to cut the broken roller pegs off and sand a small plastic ridge flat. I drilled holes and assembled my parts and attached them successfully to each side of the rack (see picture). For each roller, I used a stainless steel screw, washer and lock nut along with a nylon finish washer and a nylon bushing. It works great! It is too bad that Kitchenaid wont stand behind their product, as evident in other, similar complaints. I am not an engineer, but I engineered a solution in one-hour that will last longer than the rest of the original plastic parts in the tub.

Wish I had never purchased KitchenAid appliance. Beware. We have a double confection oven, induction cook top, dishwasher, microwave and fridge...all of them are junk. Oven door was broken right out of the box. Took about 1 month to get a new one and it doesnt work like they advertise that is for SURE. Dishwasher blew the hoses, ruined my kitchen floor and ceiling in the basement. Service man came and said oh yes we know that is a faulty clamp, fixed it and put a huge scrape in my hardwood floor. Fridge blew the hose to the ice maker, again my hardwood floor and ceiling in the basement service guy came out. Oh yes we have a fix for that...it is a faulty piece. Microwave just stopped working, service guy had no idea and wanted us to uninstall it so he could take it with him (it is an over the range hood microwave and weighs about 200 lbs) but he managed to get it working.Induction cook top blew up, smoke and all 1 year to the day of installation (but it wasnt covered because the appliances got delivered before they were installed) had to have a huge argument with customer service that the warranty was 2 years on major components. They said it was not a major component even though the cost of the new board was $800.00. They finally agreed to cover it. Was without a stove for several weeks. Then the dishwasher went again. My hardwood and basement ceiling all water damaged again. This time the water blew the board in the dishwasher. Over 1 month to get the parts just got it fixed 2 weeks ago. Then last week the Microwave stopped working again...still waiting for service. This was my dream kitchen that has turned into a nightmare. Every time I need service I need to take a day off work. I have replaced my ceiling tiles 3 times in the basement, my kitchen floor is warped and gouged and you know what they told me? That is not our problem take it up with your house insurance!

Warm up time of oven is very slow. The Baking (bottom) heating element lasted a year and is VERY DIFFICULT to replace. The thermostat is inaccurate and fluctuates with different amounts of error at different points in its temperature range. Oven door removal is not straightforward and can be jammed requiring replacement parts for repair.

Wow, did you get the exact same guy I got? Maybe from the Orlando area? Because I got the same lame crap, and I am a former KitchenAid rep. Back when they were built by Hobart till the last year they were purchased by Whirlpool. I warned them that I might just know a little bit about dishwashers, and the guy comes in with a thermometer in his hand. I played dumb, and let him not worry about the 160 degree water going in, which then meant that my water must be too hard, using the wrong soap, and my dog is too big. I let him leave, and then after a thorough internal exam, found the wash arm hub split, causing the arms to hit the manifold in the back (super scrubber thing). All in all a pretty crappy machine. They sent me a wash arm and support, which I replaced. Solved the redeposit problem, but not the horrible soap film. That turns out to be a short fill cycle in the main wash. Sorry sir, but you are three months out of warranty. Even though they knew this unit was causing washability problems from the get-go. Wow. Way different from the company I worked for for 8 years.

I purchased a KitchenAid side by side with french doors and an in-door ice maker. It retailed for around $3,000 and is by far the worst appliance I have ever owned. Periodically it runs very noisily. If the refrigerator door is left open for more that a brief moment, the ice in the bin begins to melt and fuses together and must be dumped. I have replaced the ice maker four times in the six years I have owned this refrigerator. Ridiculous for any unit but especially one in this price bracket. I attempted to contact customer service to discuss the fourth replacement of the ice maker but simply received a form letter indicating that they have no obligation once the warranty runs out. With all the other manufacturers available, select from one of those!

We remodeled our kitchen in July of 2006. We installed all new KitchenAid appliances. The slide-in gas range/oven (model # KGSA906PSS01) is a terrible product. I had 2 service calls on the oven in the first few years. Once the 5 year warranty had expired the motherboard had to be replaced, followed by the gas valve, the sparker module and the gas range circuits. Buying a new oven now seems like a smarter move. The customer service was unsympathetic and didnt even try to stand by their product.

Dishwasher just quit working about 3 weeks ago. After about one week, I tried cleaning the inside. The bottom was all rust. When I went to wipe it out I got shocked. Needless to say, I left it alone. In 2009, we remodeled our kitchen and we went to Steeles Warehouse in Butte to look at appliances. We wanted a good quality and because we had heard good things about KitchenAid, that is what we looked at. After doing some research, we decided to purchase our entire kitchen appliances and to go with the KitchenAid. The first month we had our dual fuel convection range, the lights went out in the oven. We called the recommended service tech and he replaced them. A short time later (approx. three months) the lights once again burned out, and again we called the tech and he once again replaced them. At that time, the oven also was not working and he said it needed a new motherboard and replaced it. Now several months later once again, the stove is not working and once again the lights are out, again. We bought the recommended extended warranty only to find out you have outsourced it to a company that will not cover the stove under the warranty because it could have been a power surge? I will never purchase another product from the Whirlpool company. Because if you cant fix it, what is the sense in having it? We spent $3,300 for this stove and cant use it. What do you recommend?

BUYER BEWARE...DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID. I have read the comments made by many people regarding the refrigerators but I have another issue with KitchenAid/Whirlpool. The Plate on the bottom of my electric oven states that the Country of Origin is Canada..I provided the appliance pamphlet and layout information to my service repairman and he noted that that pamphlet said that only US-made models have a fuse so after his inspection determined that the reason the oven was not working was because of the Circuit Board and subsequently ordered. When the part was received and put in, the oven still did not work. The repairman did another detailed inspection and found a fuse and it was blown. The pamphlet specifically states that only US models have a fuse. I will take this matter further to determine what agency regulates mislabeling of Country of Origin. With all the deception detailed by the many complaints by homeowners, there must be a reason why KitchenAid/Whirlpool mislabels the electric ovens and I suspect mislabeling may give some sort of money advantage. In addition, as most of the complaints state, KitchenAid customer service is horrible and when I furnished them with supporting documentation, they would not even try to justify why the Country of Origin was misrepresented or direct me to anyone that could address the problem. The age-old adage, keep on stalling and the complainant will probably give up and go away. If not for the mislabeling, the repair cost me $600 instead of $2 to replace the fuse.

I purchased in Feb. 2013 a new 27 convection double ovens Model kebs279bss00. Upper oven is very loud, exhaust fan constantly on, and it runs during preheat, cooking and cool down. Fan noise is still unacceptable. You cannot carry conversation over dinner! I attempted to contact Kitchen Aid to discuss further and waited on hold for 15 minutes. KFIS27CXWH2 - We purchased this French door style/bottom freezer style from ABT Electronics in July 2011. Within two years we had leaking under freezer under our wooden floors. We called one serviceman who couldnt detect the issue. Called ABT and they were out approximately 12 times to finally resolve the issue by installing a heater unit in ice maker which happens to be located in the upper left side of the ceiling inside refrigerator. Never again will I purchase a unit with an ice maker in unit vs. freezer. Just after a year and parts warranty expiration - it began leaking again and thankfully I was home to avoid a real disaster and could turn off water. Yet another serviceman was out 2 days again who left stating he couldnt find anything wrong with ice maker. As of today water is not running into ice maker although we do have water in the dispenser on outside door of unit. Has anyone else had this model who has experienced the same issue? Every time I decide to replace the unit - I want to try one more time to remedy this problem.

I always bought KitchenAid for my appliances. I considered myself a good customer but right now Im completely dissatisfied and angry because on what is happening with my Range Oven/Microwave (Model KEMC308KSS01 - Serial XR5013510). I bought it on Nov. 2004. I had the Service Saver Agreement until 2005. On Jan 2005, the microwave glass door exploded for the first time. We replaced the glass with their service rep, Allstate Factory Service, for $400. On Nov 2005, the same glass exploded again, another $400 to replace it. We replaced the glass with their rep from Appliance Expert Appliance Repair. For the Third time on March 05 2012, the glass exploded again. The microwave glass door always exploded when was not in operation. We already spent $800 replacing the microwave glass door for a microwave that should work fine at the first place. We never experienced such a bad performance by any KitchenAid products before. I have to assume that the Range Oven/Microwave that I bought has a defect from manufacture, faulty and represent a safety hazard. Maybe they should have issue a recall of this model. But to tell you the truth, we feel scared about this product. We know it will cause an explosion or a fire or glass will start flying in the air, etc. We expecting to obtain a replacement since the unit never work properly and represent a safety hazard.

My Kitchen Aid double oven which is still under warranty was not heating up properly and when it did heat many, many items came out burned. I checked the temperature with an oven thermometer and the temperature was way off when the beep sounded that the desired temperature had been reached. It took about 20 minutes longer to reach the correct temperature (35-40 minutes in all).It is loud both pre-heating, cooking and cooling. I sent my complaints to Kitchen Aid. A repairman came out and told me the beep really doesnt indicate the temperature had been reached. Must heat another 20 minutes at least and put bread in the oven and see which pieces come out burned to identify the hot spots. Dont want hot spots? Use the convection feature and bake at a lower temperature. It rattles and whirrs and makes a deep throbbing noise. Apparently this is all normal!Called Kitchen Aid, said nothing had changed. Talked with a rep, then her supervisor. She kept with the party line and repeated what the repairman had said but added, If you open the door, heat will escape. I hope she didnt say this with a straight face!! To top it off, this is only 1 authorized repairman in our area. Guess who?? NOT OKAY!!!!!

The Consumer Product Safety Commission at 1-800-638-2772 (a government agency) was very helpful in taking my complaint about product safety regarding our exploding oven. If enough of us file complaints about our KitchenAid double ovens, they will take action from the government end to rectify the problems.I also went to Sears where we purchased the KitchenAid double oven a month before and they kindly and quickly replaced the oven with a different brand. Go Sears!

I remodeled my kitchen, and purchased the Kitchen Aid Duel Fuel Range in March 2014. I used the oven for the first time to bake chicken on June 9, 2014, and the INSIDE GLASS TO OVEN DOOR SHATTERED!!! I called KitchenAid, they will pay to replace oven glass with same type of glass. Does this make sense?! I questioned it, and they said to speak to the repair company.

KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDC101X with touch-sensitive control panel too sensitive! Dishwasher can be turned on and off by my dogs or just standing in front of it. Most frustrating, I hate it! Dishwasher gets turned on by mistake then does not drain so it stays wet and smells, gets turned off mid-wash cycle and the KitchenAid customer service reps says, Sorry, it is working as it should. I say, bad design, and Im a very unhappy customer. No more KitchenAid/Whirlpool for me!

The broiler element on my KitchenAid range (Model No. KGSS907) came on by itself and stayed on. I was in the living room, and the first I knew was the smell of burning. Not only did it come on, I couldnt turn it off, the control panel being non-functioning. To stop it, I had to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, nothing else worked. Now I am afraid to leave the range alone. This is a big problem since I travel a lot. I was recently away in Europe for a month. Can you imagine what could have happened if the stove came on during that month? Normal practice for any controls designer is to make sure that any failure goes to the off position, but that apparently that does not apply to KitchenAid. Does anyone know of a recall?

The glass on my KitchenAid lower wall oven shattered (it was not on at the time). When I called KitchenAid they gave me the name of their local approved repair vendor. I ordered the part and paid the high price for a replacement. When the repair technician came to replace the defective part HE COULD NOT DO SO! The replacement part had not been manufactured properly. It was defective. The subject part was the outside glass pane attached to the stainless front panel. The glass was not centered and there was a 1/8 gap on one side and the other side was attached so that the part was twice as thick as it should have been. The thickness prevented the attachment screws from connecting. Obviously, Whirlpool is not familiar with the concept of quality control. The technician took the defective part back to their shop and ordered a new replacement. That part has the same defect! I am told that the vendor has tried several other suppliers and have not been able to find a non-defective replacement part.I never had trouble with replacement parts when Hobart owned KitchenAid! The Whirlpool organization negotiated the lowest price possible with their replacement parts vendor--probably in China--who gives Whirlpool their moneys worth and KitchenAid owners now suffer with the result. IT HAS BEEN SIX WEEKS and there is not a properly manufactured replacement part in sight!!!! This oven is almost twelve years old but for the price KitchenAid charges it should last one hell of a lot longer than that! Model: KEBC208KSSO, SN: XM4400465. Sadly, the approved Whirlpool vendor who is suppose to be repairing my oven door has not bothered to call me back since the first week this fiasco began.

We set up a service appointment with a KitchenAid certified repair firm with a ridiculous $150 appointment charge. The tech tried to run diagnostics on it with no apparent success and just came back with a, It looks like you need a new control panel! Of course, he tried to sell me a $300+ extended warranty, in case anything else goes wrong. For just $430, I could have my gently used (run less than once a week in its life) $1200 dishwasher back in use. This unit was installed with our kitchen remodel when we also bought KitchenAid cabinet-depth refrigerator, dual fuel range, microwave and dishwasher, $7500 in what we thought were premium appliances. Im pissed at the lack of customer service support and, based on what I read here, are significant quality issues with KitchenAid dishwashers and a company focused more on selling extended warranties. Im a very dissatisfied customer.

Operationally this is a nice-looking, relatively quiet, efficient machine with multiple modes of operation. Where it falls from grace is the isolation of the top/hidden electronics from the moisture of a functioning dishwasher. The replacement by the owner is not out of the question, but most users wont do this. The main control board can be replaced by unplugging a socket after the front of the machine is removed. One other drawback is the spring and cord mechanism that balances the weight of the door, it can break more than once in a 20-year operating lifetime. On the good side this unit is still working after 20 years whereas many others are broken and replaced. The motor, pump and dish/silver racks are all working and in good condition. The inside and outside stainless is fully functional and easily cleaned.

The machine is about 15 years old, with three shelves. It was one of the more expensive dishwashers on the market when purchased. At about about 4 years, due to abusive use (seriously soiled and grease laden everything) the machine progressively clogged. Over a weekend I tore it apart and cleaned it. It has performed admirably in cleaning since then due to reasonably use. We built a new home in the Rio Grande Valley in 2005. Since we had previously remodeled our home in Irving, Texas using KitchenAid products which gave excellent service, we assumed we could rely on newer models to do the same. This was a mistake. We installed a stainless steel oven/microwave combination (Model No: KEHC309KSS 05, Serial No: XS060040 57). The microwave door springs continually break and the light bulb burns out regularly. The product requires a service call every year. It requires two men to change the microwave light bulb because the whole unit has to be pulled from the cabinet. One man must hold the unit while the second replaces the bulb. Even though the service people are told they must send two men, they seldom comply, requiring the scheduling of a second service call. If we did not continually purchase extended warranties, there would be no way to keep the product operable. After reading all of the posted complaints, we are now afraid to use the self-cleaning part of the actual oven. This was a poorly designed product which never should have been marketed in the first place. After a two page letter listing the number of service calls and the problems, we received a call from KitchenAid stating they had received the letter, had no record of any previous complaints and were relaying the information to their engineers. It sounded as though there would be no follow-up and no effort to resolve the complaint. Its amazing that a company can continue in business with so many complaints against it by relying on past reputation. We would never recommend a KitchenAid product again.

I have purchased two KitchenAid gas ranges (yes, I should have learned my lesson the first time!). Both have been seriously problematic. Within a year of purchase, both locked up when I cleaned them for the first time, and I could not use them without a tech coming to my house to repair. One of those ranges had a faulty fan which did damage to another part due to overheating during the cleaning process, which resulted in damage to other parts! Most recently, the electronic range control on my Architect II went on my three-year-old gas range. So back to the repair techs. I will never purchase another KitchenAid stove. Based upon my experience and that of others, they are simply poorly manufactured and not reputable. Repair costs are ridiculous and I am thinking of replacing mine due to the high repair costs and lack of faith in this happening once again, at a time when I really need to use the stove!

I purchased a KitchenAid microwave for $784.00 and $102.00 for the extended warranty and both of those were my problem. The microwave went out and I have had to make over 10 different calls and waste over 5 hours on the phone with KitchenAid extended warranty company. At first they refused to cover the oven because they said it was heat related damage. I have to admit that I am not very smart but I do know that a microwave oven has to get hot in order to work! I can never recommend anyone to buy KitchenAid or Whirlpool products because with my experience, they do not stand behind their products or care about their customers. I have spoken to 3 supervisors; all of them follow the company line. The difference in dollars to keep a satisfied customer is $236.00. That is not much for a multi-billion dollar company. My three-year-old twin-door freezer is giving me many headaches and nobody seems to know what is going on or how to fix it. The problem is that about every two weeks, it freezes a cold air passage between the freezer and the refrigerator, blocking it with solid ice, causing it to make a stronger noise than normal and finally going into over temperature alarm since the refrigerator keeps going up in temperature. We have had the visit of two factory-trained technicians to try to remedy this problem but to no avail. Any clues???

Obviously, I am extremely dissatisfied with this refrigerator to take time to write a review. I dont even know where to start to list the problems weve had. Repairs have been time-consuming and costly. One repair to replace almost all of the working innards was 4 hours of labor. At least Whirpool covered the parts ($1500) and labor ($700) but only covered the labor after I called customer service and complained. Other problems include the metal strips on drawers discoloring and peeling after only 2 years, plastic vegetable drawers breaking and needing replacing at $100 each (out of pocket). The protective kick panel is broken and wont re-attach so bottom wires sticking out. The fridge and freezer doors are permanently misaligned and dont line up at top and one door protrudes at bottom. Technician says cant be fixed. Husband has tried to fix using instructions in booklet with no luck. Ice maker stopped working. Fridge occasionally leaks large amount of water into kitchen. Technician cant seem to fix problem. It is absolutely the worst appliance I have ever owned. Im 63. Its a total of piece of junk.

We also have the KitchenAid model KUDS30CXBL1. The supports for the upper basket have now broken on each side. We were lucky that in the first instance the person we contacted sent a replacement part for no cost and intimated that he would do so even though we did not have a service contract. Well the second time this happened, just the other day, we did have a service contract but they told us this part is not covered by the service contract. So we wasted $85 on a service contract that does not cover what we needed and we now have to pay $25 plus tax and shipping for the part. Needless to say, we are most unhappy with this product and the service contract. We have to pay to replace a part that is a design defect as we have not abused the product in any way. Just normal use. We will not be purchasing a KitchenAid product in the future and do not recommend it to anyone reading this review. Within 5 weeks, the paint started bubbling, cracking and flakes were falling off, this was on the panel where the burner knobs are located. Called and repairman came out and looked at it and called in for instructions on what to do. We were told by him, numerous phone calls to kitchen aide and supervisor, Sorry, the stove is only covered for 30 days for cosmetic problems. Ok, I say, your paint is defective or application was not right. I cannot believe you would not fix this problem, when it is obviously defective. I have had appliances for many, many years and never had paint bubble and come off as this has, especially a brand new appliance. The stove looks horrible, the whole control panel is now gray steel and your company will not fix an obvious problem with your product. I will never and tell others not to buy KitchenAid because you do not stand behind your products that obviously has a problem. Purchased all new appliance for our renovated Kitchen in May of 2017. They were installed towards the end of June, and we started having issues with the refrigerator within months. This is Model KRFF305ESS00, French doors, with water dispenser inside on the left-hand side. Once you fill a glass with water, the water dispenser doesn’t shut off properly and continues to drip... not one or two drips... but constantly. I phoned and the first serviceman they sent out told me that there was nothing wrong with it, and that is just the way it is. I called back, they sent another service guy out who said “that’s not right, but I’m not really sure what’s going to fix it, but I will order a new water tank and tube and see if that does the trick. I will also order a new air damper because it seems to be grinding and it shouldn’t be”.Two weeks later he returned with the parts, installed them, and it worked better for about a month. Now it’s still dripping, and the noise it makes sounds like it’s going to take off. I just called with warranty department, and there is no more coverage. It will cost $139 plus tax just to have someone come out and then more money for whatever parts they want to try next, that likely won’t work. My husband says “take it to the dump, it’s a piece of $3,000 garbage”!!! We will be shopping for another refrigerator... and it won’t be KitchenAid. How do these people stay in business??? Oh... Cathy on the warranty line, sure was trained properly... All she could say was “I certainly understand how you feel, but there is nothing we can do about it”!!!

We moved into a custom built home and selected a KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer, wall oven, microwave, stove/oven combo, and two dishwashers. It’s been 2.5 years and every single appliance has had issues except one dishwasher. The refrigerator/freezer is the worst of all. First it was the ice maker, then it was the ice maker door, then it was the motor, and now the water line to the ice maker is dripping. The wood floor in front on the freezer is now ruined from all the leaks. We’ve had a repair guy out at least 5 times already and Im going to have to call them out again to fix this new issue. If youre wondering about the other appliances: the microwave sensor for the door is faulty. The bulb went out in one year (probably because the light stays on when it thinks the door is open) and a service person had to remove the entire wall unit to replace a $3 bulb. Also, occasionally when we press start, it does this weird halfway come on thing… They said to just restart it. The stovetop does not regulate heat well. Low and medium flames on the medium sized eyes are exactly the same. Low boils over every time. The repair guy said, “The flame is not changing but the heat is.” Really?? Because it’s really not. We’ve learned to utilize the space between ignite and high to better control heat. I shouldnt have to implement tricks for it to act right. Also, when I put the small eye on low, it often causes the ignitor on eyes next to it to continually tick. If it doesnt do it every time, they cant fix that either. The repair guy has been out twice for the stove. One of the dishwashers does a pretty terrible job of cleaning… not sure why but Im going to have the service guy look at that when he comes for the freezer leak. KitchenAid small appliances are awesome. Their major appliances are not. It seems in the last couple of years, the quality has gone down quite a bit. If you choose to buy their major appliances anyway, get the extended service plan; you’re going to need it.

This cleaning technology is a complete joke. KitchenAid/Whirpool solution is to buy their cleaning kit a sponge and a plastic scraper. Food is caked on the inside and does not come off. You cant use any chemical cleaners either so youre looking at a 2-hour cleaning job to maybe get this oven clean. Im shocked that they are still selling ovens with this bogus technology. After running the cycle multiple times some of whats on the bottom comes off after some scrubbing but the sides are still filthy. KitchenAid and Whirlpool need to do a recall and buy all these garbage ovens back from consumers. I paid $2k for my oven and after calling to complain to KitchenAid they had the nerve to tell me a tech could come out but if they decided the oven was working as designed, I would be charged. As designed - so does that mean they know it doesnt work and they come out and say yep, its not working - as designed that will be $150 please. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again!!

Im kicking myself for not doing more research as there are a ton of negative reviews out there stating the same complaints. I will share this story with everyone I can to be sure this product isnt purchased.

Purchased dishwasher in 2011. 1 month after warranty the control panel went. A year later the wheels fell off the top rack and plastic parts ruined the motor. 2 years later we replaced the top rack wheels ourselves as did every other owner based on repair forums. A week ago in 2015 our panel went again. Never ever, ever will purchase a KitchenAid dishwasher again.

In 2007, I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from Pacific Sales. The refrigerator made funny noises when it ran but I put a piece of tile on the interior metalwork and the noise went away. Seven years later in 2014, an alarm went off inside the control board indicating a problem with the evaporator cooler. As it turns out, KitchenAid or Whirlpool used substandard capacitors in their control boards leading to premature failure. Mind you, this is a $6,000 refrigerator. When I contacted KitchenAid, they informed me that the part was no longer available due to a tsunami in Japan. KitchenAid referred me to an aftermarket control board manufacturer that wanted $800 for the part. They said that they used to have the boards repaired but that was no longer an option. After following the instructions on Steve Jenkins blog, I was able to have the board repaired at Rockstar Computers in Upland, California. Total cost of the repair was $55.

When cleaning up a small spill in my KitchenAid side by side I removed the glass shelf over the vegetable crisper and placed in my sink. Picking up a paper towel I wet it with tap water and started to wipe off the spill when the glass exploded in little small shards that shot across my kitchen. My dogs were sitting beneath the sink and got glass in their coat, my shirt had glass on it. I was stunned. It took an hour and a half to completely clean up all of the glass. Very very dangerous. I did not use any warm water.

We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, even a toaster oven). It has been a disaster since day one. The doors have never aligned correctly (as seen reviewed before) and the ice maker stopped working early on and water ran and ruined my wood floor (as reviewed before). But, the main problem is with the coils in the refrigerator that consistently ice up, allowing no air flow, therefore no cooling (which has been reviewed before). Obviously, this leads to spoiling food, which we have replaced numerous times due to the problem. Now, we keep a thermometer in it at all times, so once we see it start getting warmer, we have to take apart the refrigerator to defrost the ice that has covered the coils. We have had this problem serviced four or five times. Each time replacing various parts... the last time pretty much replacing EVERYTHING INTERNALLY.The service techs admit this is a problem, due to the dual compressor KitchenAid tried to do with this model. Even store salespeople admit it didnt work and has been changed. Well, enough is enough. I want a new refrigerator, not a replacement, not any more service calls. But, I have been told that I need to wait until it fails again, then call customer service again to report the problem. Someone will have to come out again and assess the problem... Should I just leave the rancid food in there for them to take back to KitchenAid with them once they come? Come on KitchenAid... read the file. Its all there in black and white... every single service call. Time to fess up and fix the problem, with a NEW refrigerator.

Bought this June of 2016. Looks great and worked great. Received the ultimate error code. PO flashed every 10 minutes or so. Fridge shuts down and restarts. Fridge and freezer parts stopped working correctly. Replaced the pantry Drawer UI PCB circuitry board and the harness attached as instructed by Whirlpool through an authorized repair facility. Six hours later, error code returns and there are no noticeable changes. Had the evaporator motor replaced at a follow-up date, as the original part was wrong that was shipped. This cooled the fridge and freezer correctly, but the PO error code returned.$800 later, tech support at Whirlpool has 2 or 3 more ideas as to what else it could be. The fridge is out of warranty and customer support can only offer me $75 to help for the $3,500 spent. My 14-year-old Conquest fridge by Whirlpool in the warm garage is working better and has only cost me $45 in parts since new for a new fan motor. The design problem is that there is a circuit board under the water dispenser, and no way to keep any leaking water from frying the circuit if that was ever a problem. Im hoping the next dart we throw hits the problem(s) and fixes the issue.

Bought a Kitchen Aid stainless steel, counter depth, side by side refrigerator seven years ago. Evidently, this is the max years I could get. The refrigerator is sitting in our front room needing a control board part 2307037 since October. We keep getting the run around pushing the back order date further and further into the future. We will probably end up getting a new refrigerator, and I guarantee you it will not be a Whirlpool or any other product that they make. They are very deceptive. The refrigerator has panels exactly like my cabinets and it looks immaculate. I am so disappointed in this company. I will NEVER consider this manufacturer again.

However, this is the end of February and once again everything is freezing in the fridge compartment. I raised the temp to 40 degrees and it is still too cold to touch the food. I spent multiple thousands for Kitchen Aid Fridge, Oven, DW and microwave, at this moment, the fridge is the worst of them.

Side by Side KSC24C8EYY01 - We put in a new counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator 3 1/2 years ago. The freezer recently stopped working for no apparent reason, then kicked back on after 24-36 hours. This has happened 4 times in less than 3 weeks. By the time the service man gets here to check it out, the freezer is back to working, and he cant find a problem. The 2nd time he called Whirlpool and went through an entire diagnostic testing and still found nothing. He thought the Whirlpool technician that he spoke to was not too bright, and actually rather rude and indifferent. The only recommendation they had was to replace the mother board for a cost of $800 - with no guarantee that replacing it will solve the problem - it was just a guess. The service man told us that he wouldnt buy a KitchenAid appliance for anything - their service department was difficult to work with and trying to get parts needed for repair can be a nightmare. We will NOT be repairing this refrigerator and we will NOT EVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance - EVER.

My concern is these pieces are floating around while my food is cooking in the oven causing it to land on my food. Called KitchenAid. They sent a technician out and they ordered me touch up paint. I explained this will not sell the safety issue of paint in our food. They are offering me nothing else. I really want my money back to buy another brand. We are extremely unhappy.

3000.00 KitchenAid (purchased in 2014) refrigerator truly a loud disappointment. The buzzing sound from this fridge is so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. I have to crank the volume up on my tv to hear it. I can not afford to buy another refrigerator. This one is only just over a year old. Due to this experience my family has decided to never buy another KitchenAid product again. Our friends feel the same way. No one wants to waste their hard earned money on junk.

Purchased new KitchenAid Architect Series French Door Bottom freezer refrigerator KF1S29BBMS02 for new house. This is the top of the line unit and we were extremely happy with the look, features and functionality. After 10 months of use the unit suddenly stopped working. Freezer temperature would barely get below freezing, the top refrigeration unit would not cool below 50 degrees and no ice would be produced. Obviously disappointed, but knew that we were under warranty and the unit would be fixed at no cost to us.Calling into warranty service was not too painful, short wait time and easy phone tree. People manning the warranty service line were all very pleasant and respectful. The issue is the process. The process as I understand it based on conversations with KitchenAid warranty service is that they will exhaust all options to attempt to repair the unit and then and only then will they consider other resolutions. In our situation we are in week five of the process. Four visits to repair unit, none successful and another visit planned in 2 days, which will be the start of week six, and we are still without a working unit. They will not offer a rental unit, but if you push they may offer you some minor value to offset the cost of a rental unit. In our area the shortest rental term was one month and the cost was over $160 per month. When I brought that number to KitchenAid, they would not provide that amount so we have to spend additional money due to their faulty product. When asked how long this may go on, they stated until the KitchenAid Warranty techs decided that the unit could not be repaired. Sounds reasonable, but what it equates to is weeks and weeks of back and forth between the third party service companies and KitchenAid Warranty techs trying different things to fix the unit. With each visit taking 3-5 days to schedule or longer if parts need to be ordered. Sounds like this effort goes on until the KitchenAid Warranty tech has replaced every part possible and there is nothing else to try. Based on current trend...this could take 8-10 weeks for our situation.I understand that process is necessary to protect business interest, but this has been a very frustrating customer experience that has completely thrown me off the KitchenAid brand and any other brand owned by Whirlpool. This is both from the quality and durability of the product standpoint and especially how the company deals with unsatisfied customers. While KitchenAid wont commit to what resolution they will offer if the unit cant be repaired, my preference would be a refund so that I can buy a product that is more reliable. My advice, Bing search how many complaints against whatever model of appliance your are considering and look for models with the lowest number or less significant type complaints. Reading the complaints about the model we bought after the fact, I very much doubt we would have purchased.

Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator in Jan. 2013 for 2,500. Fast forward to Feb 2017, freezer defrosts food overnight. Freezer full of food lost. Next fridge no longer cooling. Call local appliance repair company. Comes out same day! Informs me he is unable to repair issue and advises that it is a recall issue and provides me all recall info. Well, calling Whirlpool customer service was the worst customer service I have ever received. After 2 calls and 2 hours later, finally got an appointment booked for a tech to come repair issue, but was told this repair would be at my expense as Whirlpool disputes the fact that this is a recall, even though I had the service point number quoted to me by a qualified repair technician. Regardless refrigerator needed repair. Was told I would receive call from agent evening before appointment date. No call. Appointment window I was given was 9am-5pm, by 2pm not even a phone call yet. Called CS line again and was advised no tech would be coming out to my home. No sympathy at all from any agent I dealt with, in fact, found them all to be extremely rude!! Next available appointment not for one full week. Was told they will not provide any compensation! Worst experience ever. Will NEVER recommend KitchenAid to anyone nor will I ever purchase another KitchenAid appliance in the future. So disappointing.

On 2/4/12, I purchased a Kitchen Aid double oven microwave unit nearly three years ago, when doing a kitchen remodel. All the appliances are Kitchen Aid, thinking we were purchasing a good, reliable brand name. Yesterday, I placed the oven in the self cleaning mode. After about 2 and a half hours, the inner glass panel on the oven door exploded, sending hot, shattered glass onto the floor. The intensity of the heat cracked the new cabinet along the top of the oven. I called the service center, and they indicated there have been no recalls on this problem. I am horrified to think that if my grandchildren were present, they could have been injured. After reading other complaints on this website, I think Kitchen Aid needs to do a recall on this unit. By the way, they did not offer to replace the glass. They said the glass was covered, but not the two service calls to replace it, and the glass can only be ordered by a service technician.

I attempted to cook a baked potato in our KitchenAid over the range microwa
I attempted to cook a baked potato in our KitchenAid over the range microwave (KHMS2040WSS). Please note that using the sensor setting was nothing new to me, I have used the Baked Potato sensor setting many times before with good results. This last time though went horribly wrong, the potato wasnt baked when I returned, it was charred to a black ash. It wasnt even recognizable as a potato. The microwave safe dinner plate that it was on had cracked into pieces and started to adhere to the glass rotating dish. The rotating glass dish itself fractured right at the center and the plastic pivot almost entirely melted. The white interior was stained dark gray with smoke soot. I called Sears because the microwave is only 11 months old. Sears sent out an appliance specialist from A&E Service. The A&E technician performed a few tests and found the appliance was working properly and had not malfunctioned. The finding was that it was my fault as the consumer. My next call was to Whirlpool customer service at 1-800-253-1301. They were unable to help for two days because no report from A&E was available. Finally on day three, the office at 1-800-253-1301 called A&E and got the report. Then the Whirlpool representative stated they were not going to assist because it was found that the potato caught on fire not the microwave. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to another office (I know it was another office because the toll free number changed to 1-866-640-7146). At any rate, after an hour long call which truly amounted to wheel spinning, the supervisor agreed to call A&E again to see if any other options were available. Much later that same day, he left a voice mail stating that Whirlpool would help with the cost of parts. Ugh, I am so upset! The microwave is virtually new and I didnt choose how long to cook the potato, it was supposed to sense this and cook it accordingly. I have had $99 microwaves perform for years without incident. Then you really think that you are doing yourself a favor by branding up to KitchenAid and paying the extra cash for nothing. Has anyone else had this experience where the sensor setting overcooking something to the point of charring, smoke, fire etc? Have you contacted Whirlpool and if so, with what result? I feel that they should at minimum fully restore the microwave for no cost. Optimally, I would like to have a new microwave or a full reimbursement.

We knew ahead of buying that the glass door is bad, and do not use the self-clean, but we liked the range. BUT... the burner knobs turn on with barely a bump (KitchenAid sent us a part to stop this, which turned out to be fillers for worn out knobs, and did not fit our model) AND the top under the burners and knobs is NOT PORCELAIN but JUST PAINT! If anything spills on it while cooking, the spill burns in and is NOT cleanable. I guess we should stop cooking and let the range cool and clean it! KA says this is cosmetic, and not covered or important. The top was covered by our extended warranty from Sears, and was replaced with no problems.KA Customer Service is a joke, and I now see that the new KA/Whirlpool is a joke, and manufactures only JUNK! We will NEVER buy from this company again. It is not the company that made our 27-year-old stand mixer! We have been lucky that we have had no serious, dangerous problems, only bad paint, and ovens that do not cook pizzas evenly. We bought a KA fridge KSF26C7XYY04 with an extended warranty service plan. Thank goodness! We have had 3 service calls in a 6 month period. The fridge is only 2 years old. The evaporator and ice dispenser motor had to be replaced. I just called again because once again the freezer is not working. I have thrown out food 3 times now. I have a 5-hour service repair window every time the company that services the warranty comes out. Last time the part took so long to come in that I waited for almost 4 weeks to get my fridge fixed. This purchase has been a total nightmare! If we did not have the warranty, KA would not even talk to me. There is zero customer service. I was actually told today that with the internet I should have done my homework by their own customer service! That says it all. Sad state of affairs. I will never buy a KA appliance ever again. Once the warranty runs out and I cant get them to continue to fix this fridge, I will take the loss and buy a new non-KA fridge. This company completely sucks. All 3 drawers on the fridge side are broken. Same issue where the face of the drawer has come off. I had one drawer replaced which broke again. KA wont stand behind their poorly made product. They want me to buy them for $125/drawer. I refuse to spend any more money on this piece of poorly made appliance. I duct tape them! SO sad.

Model KUDS301XBL - This dishwasher was purchased in May 2011 at a total cost of almost $1,000. Since having it installed, it has required service and the motor has been replaced twice - in 2012 and again in 2013. The wheels and rollers have repeatedly broken off. Now, after less than four years, it has failed again and the motor will need to be replaced for the third time. Each time services required, it is a minimum of one week - and typically 2 to 3 weeks - that our family of six is without the use of a dishwasher. In addition to its lack of reliability, this high-end dishwasher has never adequately done a good job of washing dishes. Even the service technician has said, I dont care what the salesperson told you, if you want your dishes to be clean, you will have to pre-wash them. Perhaps we just got a lemon, but the manufacturer has done nothing to correct our situation.

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.
